As Or Cohen described:
If sctp_destroy_sock is called without sock_net(sk)->sctp.addr_wq_lock
held and sp->do_auto_asconf is true, then an element is removed
from the auto_asconf_splist without any proper locking.
This can happen in the following functions:
1. In sctp_accept, if sctp_sock_migrate fails.
2. In inet_create or inet6_create, if there is a bpf program
attached to BPF_CGROUP_INET_SOCK_CREATE which denies
creation of the sctp socket.
This patch is to fix it by moving the auto_asconf init out of
sctp_init_sock(), by which inet_create()/inet6_create() won't
need to operate it in sctp_destroy_sock() when calling
sk_common_release().
It also makes more sense to do auto_asconf init while binding the
first addr, as auto_asconf actually requires an ANY addr bind,
see it in sctp_addr_wq_timeout_handler().
This addresses CVE-2021-23133.

Normally SCTP_MIB_CURRESTAB is always incremented once asoc enter into
ESTABLISHED from the state < ESTABLISHED and decremented when the asoc
is being deleted.
However, in sctp_sf_do_dupcook_b(), the asoc's state can be changed to
ESTABLISHED from the state >= ESTABLISHED where it shouldn't increment
SCTP_MIB_CURRESTAB. Otherwise, one asoc may increment MIB_CURRESTAB
multiple times but only decrement once at the end.
I was able to reproduce it by using scapy to do the 4-way shakehands,
after that I replayed the COOKIE-ECHO chunk with 'peer_vtag' field
changed to different values, and SCTP_MIB_CURRESTAB was incremented
multiple times and never went back to 0 even when the asoc was freed.
This patch is to fix it by only incrementing SCTP_MIB_CURRESTAB when
the state < ESTABLISHED in sctp_sf_do_dupcook_b().

There's a panic that occurs in a few of envs, the call trace is as below:

[] sctp_do_sm+0xc3/0x2a0 [sctp]
[] sctp_generate_timeout_event+0x81/0xf0 [sctp]
This is caused by a transport use-after-free issue. When processing a
duplicate COOKIE-ECHO chunk in sctp_sf_do_dupcook_a(), both COOKIE-ACK
and SHUTDOWN chunks are allocated with the transort from the new asoc.
However, later in the sideeffect machine, the old asoc is used to send
them out and old asoc's shutdown_last_sent_to is set to the transport
that SHUTDOWN chunk attached to in sctp_cmd_setup_t2(), which actually
belongs to the new asoc. After the new_asoc is freed and the old asoc
T2 timeout, the old asoc's shutdown_last_sent_to that is already freed
would be accessed in sctp_sf_t2_timer_expire().
Thanks Alexander and Jere for helping dig into this issue.
To fix it, this patch is to do the asoc update first, then allocate
the COOKIE-ACK and SHUTDOWN chunks with the 'updated' old asoc. This
would make more sense, as a chunk from an asoc shouldn't be sent out
with another asoc. We had fixed quite a few issues caused by this.

Found by virtue of ipv6 raw sockets not honouring the per-socket
IP{,V6}_FREEBIND setting.
Based on hits found via:
git grep '[.]ip_nonlocal_bind'
We fix both raw ipv6 sockets to honour IP{,V6}_FREEBIND and IP{,V6}_TRANSPARENT,
and we fix sctp sockets to honour IP{,V6}_TRANSPARENT (they already honoured
FREEBIND), and not just the ipv6 'ip_nonlocal_bind' sysctl.
The helper is defined as:
static inline bool ipv6_can_nonlocal_bind(struct net *net, struct inet_sock *inet) {
return net->ipv6.sysctl.ip_nonlocal_bind || inet->freebind || inet->transparent;
}
so this change only widens the accepted opt-outs and is thus a clean bugfix.
I'm not entirely sure what 'fixes' tag to add, since this is AFAICT an ancient bug,
but IMHO this should be applied to stable kernels as far back as possible.
As such I'm adding a 'fixes' tag with the commit that originally added the helper,
which happened in 4.19. Backporting to older LTS kernels (at least 4.9 and 4.14)
would presumably require open-coding it or backporting the helper as well.

The sk's sk_route_caps is set in sctp_packet_config, and later it

The sctp transport seq_file iterators take a reference to the transport
in the ->start and ->next functions and releases the reference in the

release them in the subsequent ->next or ->stop function call.
Since Commit 1f4aace60b ("fs/seq_file.c: simplify seq_file iteration

This patch does what the rfc6951#section-5.3 says for ipv4:
"Within the UDP header, the source port MUST be the local UDP
encapsulation port number of the SCTP stack, and the destination port
MUST be the remote UDP encapsulation port number maintained for the
association and the destination address to which the packet is sent
(see Section 5.1).
Because the SCTP packet is the UDP payload, the length of the UDP
packet MUST be the length of the SCTP packet plus the size of the UDP
header.
The SCTP checksum MUST be computed for IPv4 and IPv6, and the UDP
checksum SHOULD be computed for IPv4 and IPv6."
Some places need to be adjusted in sctp_packet_transmit():
1. For non-gso packets, when transport's encap_port is set, sctp
checksum has to be done in sctp_packet_pack(), as the outer
udp will use ip_summed = CHECKSUM_PARTIAL to do the offload
setting for checksum.
2. Delay calling dst_clone() and skb_dst_set() for non-udp packets
until sctp_v4_xmit(), as for udp packets, skb_dst_set() is not
needed before calling udp_tunnel_xmit_skb().
then in sctp_v4_xmit():
1. Go to udp_tunnel_xmit_skb() only when transport->encap_port and
net->sctp.udp_port both are set, as these are one for dst port
and another for src port.
2. For gso packet, SKB_GSO_UDP_TUNNEL_CSUM is set for gso_type, and
with this udp checksum can be done in __skb_udp_tunnel_segment()
for each segments after the sctp gso.
3. inner_mac_header and inner_transport_header are set, as these
will be needed in __skb_udp_tunnel_segment() to find the right
headers.
4. df and ttl are calculated, as these are the required params by
udp_tunnel_xmit_skb().
5. nocheck param has to be false, as "the UDP checksum SHOULD be
computed for IPv4 and IPv6", says in rfc6951#section-5.3.

sctp_mtu_payload() is for calculating the frag size before making

when udp socks are listening, as only then sctp can handle the

will be possible.
Note that we can't do this according to transport->encap_port, as
different transports may be set to different values, while the
chunks were made before choosing the transport, we could not be
able to meet all rfc6951#section-5.6 recommends.

As rfc6951#section-5.4 says:
"After finding the SCTP association (which
includes checking the verification tag), the UDP source port MUST be
stored as the encapsulation port for the destination address the SCTP
packet is received from (see Section 5.1).
When a non-encapsulated SCTP packet is received by the SCTP stack,
the encapsulation of outgoing packets belonging to the same
association and the corresponding destination address MUST be
disabled."
transport encap_port should be updated by a validated incoming packet's
udp src port.
We save the udp src port in sctp_input_cb->encap_port, and then update
the transport in two places:
1. right after vtag is verified, which is required by RFC, and this
allows the existent transports to be updated by the chunks that
can only be processed on an asoc.
2. right before processing the 'init' where the transports are added,
and this allows building a sctp over udp connection by client with
the server not knowing the remote encap port.
3. when processing ootb_pkt and creating the temporary transport for
the reply pkt.
Note that sctp_input_cb->header is removed, as it's not used any more
in sctp.

encap_port is added as per netns/sock/assoc/transport, and the
latter one's encap_port inherits the former one's by default.

As it says in rfc6951#section-5.5:
"When receiving ICMP or ICMPv6 response packets, there might not be
enough bytes in the payload to identify the SCTP association that the
SCTP packet triggering the ICMP or ICMPv6 packet belongs to. If a
received ICMP or ICMPv6 packet cannot be related to a specific SCTP
association or the verification tag cannot be verified, it MUST be
discarded silently. In particular, this means that the SCTP stack
MUST NOT rely on receiving ICMP or ICMPv6 messages. Implementation
constraints could prevent processing received ICMP or ICMPv6
messages."
ICMP or ICMPv6 packets need to be handled, and this is implemented by
udp encap sock .encap_err_lookup function.
The .encap_err_lookup function is called in __udp(6)_lib_err_encap()
to confirm this path does need to be updated. For sctp, what we can
do here is check if the corresponding asoc and transport exist.
Note that icmp packet process for sctp over udp is done by udp sock
.encap_err_lookup(), and it means for now we can't do as much as
sctp_v4/6_err() does. Also we can't do the two mappings mentioned
in rfc6951#section-5.5.

and set the sock's encap_rcv to process the incoming udp encap
sctp packets. In sctp_udp_rcv(), as we can see, all we need to
do is fix the transport header for sctp_rcv(), then it would
implement the part of rfc6951#section-5.4:
"When an encapsulated packet is received, the UDP header is removed.
Then, the generic lookup is performed, as done by an SCTP stack

For the gso of sctp over udp packets, sctp_gso_segment() will be called in
skb_udp_tunnel_segment(), we need to set transport_header to sctp header.
As all the current HWs can't handle both crc checksum and udp checksum at
the same time, the crc checksum has to be done in sctp_gso_segment() by
removing the NETIF_F_SCTP_CRC flag from the features.
Meanwhile, if the HW can't do udp checksum, csum and csum_start has to be
set correctly, and udp checksum will be done in __skb_udp_tunnel_segment()
by calling gso_make_checksum().

When calculating ancestor_size with IPv6 enabled, simply using
sizeof(struct ipv6_pinfo) doesn't account for extra bytes needed for
alignment in the struct sctp6_sock. On x86, there aren't any extra
bytes, but on ARM the ipv6_pinfo structure is aligned on an 8-byte
boundary so there were 4 pad bytes that were omitted from the
ancestor_size calculation. This would lead to corruption of the
pd_lobby pointers, causing an oops when trying to free the sctp

As said by Linus:
A symmetric naming is only helpful if it implies symmetries in use.
Otherwise it's actively misleading.
In "kzalloc()", the z is meaningful and an important part of what the
caller wants.
In "kzfree()", the z is actively detrimental, because maybe in the
future we really _might_ want to use that "memfill(0xdeadbeef)" or
something. The "zero" part of the interface isn't even _relevant_.
The main reason that kzfree() exists is to clear sensitive information
that should not be leaked to other future users of the same memory
objects.
Rename kzfree() to kfree_sensitive() to follow the example of the recently
added kvfree_sensitive() and make the intention of the API more explicit.
In addition, memzero_explicit() is used to clear the memory to make sure
that it won't get optimized away by the compiler.
The renaming is done by using the command sequence:
git grep -w --name-only kzfree |\
xargs sed -i 's/kzfree/kfree_sensitive/'
followed by some editing of the kfree_sensitive() kerneldoc and adding
a kzfree backward compatibility macro in slab.h.

The UDP reuseport conflict was a little bit tricky.
The net-next code, via bpf-next, extracted the reuseport handling
into a helper so that the BPF sk lookup code could invoke it.
At the same time, the logic for reuseport handling of unconnected
sockets changed via commit efc6b6f6c3
which changed the logic to carry on the reuseport result into the
rest of the lookup loop if we do not return immediately.
This requires moving the reuseport_has_conns() logic into the callers.
While we are here, get rid of inline directives as they do not belong
in foo.c files.
The other changes were cases of more straightforward overlapping
modifications.

This sockopt accepts two kinds of parameters, using struct
sctp_sack_info and struct sctp_assoc_value. The mentioned commit didn't
notice an implicit cast from the smaller (latter) struct to the bigger
one (former) when copying the data from the user space, which now leads
to an attempt to write beyond the buffer (because it assumes the storing
buffer is bigger than the parameter itself).
Fix it by allocating a sctp_sack_info on stack and filling it out based
on the small struct for the compat case.

When adding a stream with stream reconf, the new stream firstly is in
CLOSED state but new out chunks can still be enqueued. Then once gets
the confirmation from the peer, the state will change to OPEN.
However, if the peer denies, it needs to roll back the stream. But when
doing that, it only sets the stream outcnt back, and the chunks already
in the new stream don't get purged. It caused these chunks can still be
dequeued in sctp_outq_dequeue_data().
As its stream is still in CLOSE, the chunk will be enqueued to the head
again by sctp_outq_head_data(). This chunk will never be sent out, and
the chunks after it can never be dequeued. The assoc will be 'hung' in
a dead loop of sending this chunk.
To fix it, this patch is to purge these chunks already in the new
stream by calling sctp_stream_shrink_out() when failing to do the
addstream reconf.

If a socket is set ipv6only, it will still send IPv4 addresses in the
INIT and INIT_ACK packets. This potentially misleads the peer into using
them, which then would cause association termination.
The fix is to not add IPv4 addresses to ipv6only sockets.

Since commit 84af7a6194 ("checkpatch: kconfig: prefer 'help' over
'---help---'"), the number of '---help---' has been gradually
decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances.
This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines,
I also fixed the indentation.
There are a variety of indentation styles found.
a) 4 spaces + '---help---'
b) 7 spaces + '---help---'
c) 8 spaces + '---help---'
d) 1 space + 1 tab + '---help---'
e) 1 tab + '---help---' (correct indentation)
f) 1 tab + 1 space + '---help---'
g) 1 tab + 2 spaces + '---help---'
In order to convert all of them to 1 tab + 'help', I ran the
following commend:
$ find . -name 'Kconfig*' | xargs sed -i 's/^[[:space:]]*---help---/\thelp/'

Commit bdf6fa52f0 ("sctp: handle association restarts when the
socket is closed.") starts shutdown when an association is restarted,
if in SHUTDOWN-PENDING state and the socket is closed. However, the
rationale stated in that commit applies also when in SHUTDOWN-SENT
state - we don't want to move an association to ESTABLISHED state when
the socket has been closed, because that results in an association
that is unreachable from user space.
The problem scenario:
1. Client crashes and/or restarts.
2. Server (using one-to-one socket) calls close(). SHUTDOWN is lost.
3. Client reconnects using the same addresses and ports.
4. Server's association is restarted. The association and the socket
move to ESTABLISHED state, even though the server process has
closed its descriptor.
Also, after step 4 when the server process exits, some resources are
leaked in an attempt to release the underlying inet sock structure in
ESTABLISHED state:
IPv4: Attempt to release TCP socket in state 1 00000000377288c7
Fix by acting the same way as in SHUTDOWN-PENDING state. That is, if
an association is restarted in SHUTDOWN-SENT state and the socket is
closed, then start shutdown and don't move the association or the
socket to ESTABLISHED state.

It appears that the side effect that starts the shutdown timer was processed
multiple times, which can happen as multiple paths can trigger it. This of
course leads to the BUG halt in add_timer getting called.
Fix seems pretty straightforward, just check before the timer is added if its
already been started. If it has mod the timer instead to min(current
expiration, new expiration)
Its been tested but not confirmed to fix the problem, as the issue has only
occured in production environments where test kernels are enjoined from being
installed. It appears to be a sane fix to me though. Also, recentely,
Jere found a reproducer posted on list to confirm that this resolves the

Instead of having all the sysctl handlers deal with user pointers, which
is rather hairy in terms of the BPF interaction, copy the input to and
from userspace in common code. This also means that the strings are
always NUL-terminated by the common code, making the API a little bit
safer.
As most handler just pass through the data to one of the common handlers
a lot of the changes are mechnical.

When starting shutdown in sctp_sf_do_dupcook_a(), get the value for
SHUTDOWN Cumulative TSN Ack from the new association, which is
reconstructed from the cookie, instead of the old association, which
the peer doesn't have anymore.
Otherwise the SHUTDOWN is either ignored or replied to with an ABORT
by the peer because CTSN Ack doesn't match the peer's Initial TSN.

When we start shutdown in sctp_sf_do_dupcook_a(), we want to bundle
the SHUTDOWN with the COOKIE-ACK to ensure that the peer receives them
at the same time and in the correct order. This bundling was broken by
commit 4ff40b8626 ("sctp: set chunk transport correctly when it's a
new asoc"), which assigns a transport for the COOKIE-ACK, but not for
the SHUTDOWN.
Fix this by passing a reference to the COOKIE-ACK chunk as an argument
to sctp_sf_do_9_2_start_shutdown() and onward to
sctp_make_shutdown(). This way the SHUTDOWN chunk is assigned the same
transport as the COOKIE-ACK chunk, which allows them to be bundled.
In sctp_sf_do_9_2_start_shutdown(), the void *arg parameter was
previously unused. Now that we're taking it into use, it must be a
valid pointer to a chunk, or NULL. There is only one call site where
it's not, in sctp_sf_autoclose_timer_expire(). Fix that too.

Under certain circumstances, depending on the order of addresses on the
interfaces, it could be that sctp_v[46]_get_dst() would return a dst
with a mismatched struct flowi.
For example, if when walking through the bind addresses and the first
one is not a match, it saves the dst as a fallback (added in
410f03831c), but not the flowi. Then if the next one is also not a
match, the previous dst will be returned but with the flowi information
for the 2nd address, which is wrong.
The fix is to use a locally stored flowi that can be used for such
attempts, and copy it to the parameter only in case it is a possible
match, together with the corresponding dst entry.
The patch updates IPv6 code mostly just to be in sync. Even though the issue
is also present there, it fallback is not expected to work with IPv6.

We should iterate over the datamsgs to move

The following case cause the bug:
for the trouble SKB, it was in outq->transmitted list

then throw away the sack queue
SKB was deleted from outq->sacked

So, sctp_wfree was not called here)
then migrate happened

SKB was not in the outq, and was not changed to newsk
finally
__sctp_outq_teardown
sctp_chunk_put (for another skb)
sctp_datamsg_put
__kfree_skb(msg->frag_list)
sctp_wfree (for SKB)
SKB->sk was still oldsk (skb->sk != asoc->base.sk).

only for TCP sockets because for other socket types icsk parameter can
be NULL and classid code path is skipped. This change moves classid
handling to inet_diag_msg_attrs_fill() function.
Also inet_diag_msg_attrs_size() helper was added and addends in

The INET_DIAG_REQ_BYTECODE nlattr is currently re-found every time when
the "dump()" is re-started.
In a latter patch, it will also need to parse the new
INET_DIAG_REQ_SK_BPF_STORAGES nlattr to learn the map_fds. Thus, this
patch takes this chance to store the parsed nlattr in cb->data
during the "start" time of a dump.
By doing this, the "bc" argument also becomes unnecessary
and is removed. Also, the two copies of the INET_DIAG_REQ_BYTECODE
parsing-audit logic between compat/current version can be
consolidated to one.

In a latter patch, there is a need to update "cb->min_dump_alloc"
in inet_sk_diag_fill() as it learns the diffierent bpf_sk_storages
stored in a sk while dumping all sk(s) (e.g. tcp_hashinfo).
The inet_sk_diag_fill() currently does not take the "cb" as an argument.
One of the reason is inet_sk_diag_fill() is used by both dump_one()
and dump() (which belong to the "struct inet_diag_handler". The dump_one()
interface does not pass the "cb" along.
This patch is to make dump_one() pass a "cb". The "cb" is created in
inet_diag_cmd_exact(). The "nlh" and "in_skb" are stored in "cb" as
the dump() interface does. The total number of args in
inet_sk_diag_fill() is also cut from 10 to 7 and
that helps many callers to pass fewer args.
In particular,
"struct user_namespace *user_ns", "u32 pid", and "u32 seq"
can be replaced by accessing "cb->nlh" and "cb->skb".
A similar argument reduction is also made to
inet_twsk_diag_fill() and inet_req_diag_fill().
inet_csk_diag_dump() and inet_csk_diag_fill() are also removed.
They are mostly equivalent to inet_sk_diag_fill(). Their repeated
usages are very limited. Thus, inet_sk_diag_fill() is directly used
in those occasions.

When T2 timer is to be stopped, the asoc should also be deleted,
otherwise, there will be no chance to call sctp_association_free
and the asoc could last in memory forever.
However, in sctp_sf_shutdown_sent_abort(), after adding the cmd
SCTP_CMD_TIMER_STOP for T2 timer, it may return error due to the
format error from __sctp_sf_do_9_1_abort() and miss adding

sctp_outq_sack is the main function handles SACK, it is called very
frequently. As the commit "move trace_sctp_probe_path into sctp_outq_sack"
added below code to this function, sctp tracepoint is disabled most of time,
but the loop of transport list will be always called even though the
tracepoint is disabled, this is unnecessary.
+ /* SCTP path tracepoint for congestion control debugging. */
+ list_for_each_entry(transport, transport_list, transports) {

This patch is to add tracepoint enabled check at outside of the loop of

The original patch bringed in the "SCTP ACK tracking trace event"
feature was committed at Dec.20, 2017, it replaced jprobe usage
with trace events, and bringed in two trace events, one is
TRACE_EVENT(sctp_probe), another one is TRACE_EVENT(sctp_probe_path).
The original patch intended to trigger the trace_sctp_probe_path in
TRACE_EVENT(sctp_probe) as below code,
+TRACE_EVENT(sctp_probe,
+
+ TP_PROTO(const struct sctp_endpoint *ep,
+ const struct sctp_association *asoc,
+ struct sctp_chunk *chunk),
+
+ TP_ARGS(ep, asoc, chunk),
+
+ TP_STRUCT__entry(
+ __field(__u64, asoc)
+ __field(__u32, mark)
+ __field(__u16, bind_port)
+ __field(__u16, peer_port)
+ __field(__u32, pathmtu)
+ __field(__u32, rwnd)
+ __field(__u16, unack_data)
+ ),
+
+ TP_fast_assign(
+ struct sk_buff *skb = chunk->skb;
+
+ __entry->asoc = (unsigned long)asoc;
+ __entry->mark = skb->mark;
+ __entry->bind_port = ep->base.bind_addr.port;
+ __entry->peer_port = asoc->peer.port;
+ __entry->pathmtu = asoc->pathmtu;
+ __entry->rwnd = asoc->peer.rwnd;
+ __entry->unack_data = asoc->unack_data;
+
+ if (trace_sctp_probe_path_enabled()) {
+ struct sctp_transport *sp;
+
+ list_for_each_entry(sp, &asoc->peer.transport_addr_list,
+ transports) {
+ trace_sctp_probe_path(sp, asoc);
+ }
+ }
+ ),
But I found it did not work when I did testing, and trace_sctp_probe_path
had no output, I finally found that there is trace buffer lock
operation(trace_event_buffer_reserve) in include/trace/trace_events.h:
static notrace void \
trace_event_raw_event_##call(void *__data, proto) \
{ \
struct trace_event_file *trace_file = __data; \
struct trace_event_data_offsets_##call __maybe_unused __data_offsets;\
struct trace_event_buffer fbuffer; \
struct trace_event_raw_##call *entry; \
int __data_size; \
\
if (trace_trigger_soft_disabled(trace_file)) \
return; \
\
__data_size = trace_event_get_offsets_##call(&__data_offsets, args); \
\
entry = trace_event_buffer_reserve(&fbuffer, trace_file, \
sizeof(*entry) + __data_size); \
\
if (!entry) \
return; \
\
tstruct \
\
{ assign; } \
\
trace_event_buffer_commit(&fbuffer); \
}
The reason caused no output of trace_sctp_probe_path is that
trace_sctp_probe_path written in TP_fast_assign part of
TRACE_EVENT(sctp_probe), and it will be placed( { assign; } ) after the
trace_event_buffer_reserve() when compiler expands Macro,
entry = trace_event_buffer_reserve(&fbuffer, trace_file, \
sizeof(*entry) + __data_size); \
\
if (!entry) \
return; \
\
tstruct \
\
{ assign; } \
so trace_sctp_probe_path finally can not acquire trace_event_buffer
and return no output, that is to say the nest of tracepoint entry function
is not allowed. The function call flow is:
trace_sctp_probe()
-> trace_event_raw_event_sctp_probe()
-> lock buffer
-> trace_sctp_probe_path()
-> trace_event_raw_event_sctp_probe_path() --nested
-> buffer has been locked and return no output.
This patch is to remove trace_sctp_probe_path from the TP_fast_assign
part of TRACE_EVENT(sctp_probe) to avoid the nest of entry function,
and trigger sctp_probe_path_trace in sctp_outq_sack.
After this patch, you can enable both events individually,
# cd /sys/kernel/debug/tracing
# echo 1 > events/sctp/sctp_probe/enable
# echo 1 > events/sctp/sctp_probe_path/enable
Or, you can enable all the events under sctp.
# echo 1 > events/sctp/enable

The MTU update code is supposed to be invoked in response to real
networking events that update the PMTU. In IPv6 PMTU update function
__ip6_rt_update_pmtu() we called dst_confirm_neigh() to update neighbor
confirmed time.
But for tunnel code, it will call pmtu before xmit, like:
- tnl_update_pmtu()
- skb_dst_update_pmtu()
- ip6_rt_update_pmtu()
- __ip6_rt_update_pmtu()
- dst_confirm_neigh()
If the tunnel remote dst mac address changed and we still do the neigh
confirm, we will not be able to update neigh cache and ping6 remote
will failed.
So for this ip_tunnel_xmit() case, _EVEN_ if the MTU is changed, we
should not be invoking dst_confirm_neigh() as we have no evidence
of successful two-way communication at this point.
On the other hand it is also important to keep the neigh reachability fresh
for TCP flows, so we cannot remove this dst_confirm_neigh() call.
To fix the issue, we have to add a new bool parameter for dst_ops.update_pmtu
to choose whether we should do neigh update or not. I will add the parameter
in this patch and set all the callers to true to comply with the previous
way, and fix the tunnel code one by one on later patches.
v5: No change.
v4: No change.
v3: Do not remove dst_confirm_neigh, but add a new bool parameter in
dst_ops.update_pmtu to control whether we should do neighbor confirm.
Also split the big patch to small ones for each area.
v2: Remove dst_confirm_neigh in __ip6_rt_update_pmtu.

The fix on 951c6db954 fixed the issued reported there but introduced
another. When the allocation fails within sctp_stream_init() it is
okay/necessary to free the genradix. But it is also called when adding
new streams, from sctp_send_add_streams() and
sctp_process_strreset_addstrm_in() and in those situations it cannot
just free the genradix because by then it is a fully operational
association.
The fix here then is to only free the genradix in sctp_stream_init()
and on those other call sites move on with what it already had and let
the subsequent error handling to handle it.
Tested with the reproducers from this report and the previous one,
with lksctp-tools and sctp-tests.

syzbot reported a memory leak when an allocation fails within
genradix_prealloc() for output streams. That's because
genradix_prealloc() leaves initialized members initialized when the
issue happens and SCTP stack will abort the current initialization but
without cleaning up such members.
The fix here is to always call genradix_free() when genradix_prealloc()
fails, for output and also input streams, as it suffers from the same
issue.

Note that the sysctl write accessor functions guarantee that:
net->ipv4.sysctl_ip_prot_sock <= net->ipv4.ip_local_ports.range[0]
invariant is maintained, and as such the max() in selinux hooks is actually spurious.
ie. even though
if (snum < max(inet_prot_sock(sock_net(sk)), low) || snum > high) {
per logic is the same as
if ((snum < inet_prot_sock(sock_net(sk)) && snum < low) || snum > high) {
it is actually functionally equivalent to:
if (snum < low || snum > high) {
which is equivalent to:
if (snum < inet_prot_sock(sock_net(sk)) || snum < low || snum > high) {
even though the first clause is spurious.
But we want to hold on to it in case we ever want to change what what

It was caused by rhashtable access asoc->base.sk when sctp_assoc_migrate
is changing its value. However, what rhashtable wants is netns from asoc
base.sk, and for an asoc, its netns won't change once set. So we can
simply fix it by caching netns since created.

Section 7.2 of rfc7829: "Peer Address Thresholds (SCTP_PEER_ADDR_THLDS)
Socket Option" extends 'struct sctp_paddrthlds' with 'spt_pathcpthld'
added to allow a user to change ps_retrans per sock/asoc/transport, as
other 2 paddrthlds: pf_retrans, pathmaxrxt.
Note: to not break the user's program, here to support pf_retrans dump
and setting by adding a new sockopt SCTP_PEER_ADDR_THLDS_V2, and a new
structure sctp_paddrthlds_v2 instead of extending sctp_paddrthlds.
Also, when setting ps_retrans, the value is not allowed to be greater
than pf_retrans.
v1->v2:
- use SCTP_PEER_ADDR_THLDS_V2 to set/get pf_retrans instead,
as Marcelo and David Laight suggested.

This is a new feature defined in section 5 of rfc7829: "Primary Path
Switchover". By introducing a new tunable parameter:
Primary.Switchover.Max.Retrans (PSMR)
The primary path will be changed to another active path when the path
error counter on the old primary path exceeds PSMR, so that "the SCTP
sender is allowed to continue data transmission on a new working path
even when the old primary destination address becomes active again".
This patch is to add this tunable parameter, 'ps_retrans' per netns,
sock, asoc and transport. It also allows a user to change ps_retrans
per netns by sysctl, and ps_retrans per sock/asoc/transport will be
initialized with it.
The check will be done in sctp_do_8_2_transport_strike() when this
feature is enabled.
Note this feature is disabled by initializing 'ps_retrans' per netns
as 0xffff by default, and its value can't be less than 'pf_retrans'
when changing by sysctl.
v3->v4:
- add define SCTP_PS_RETRANS_MAX 0xffff, and use it on extra2 of
sysctl 'ps_retrans'.
- add a new entry for ps_retrans on ip-sysctl.txt.

SCTP Quick failover draft section 5.1, point 5 has been removed
from rfc7829. Instead, "the sender SHOULD (i) notify the Upper
Layer Protocol (ULP) about this state transition", as said in
section 3.2, point 8.
So this patch is to add SCTP_ADDR_POTENTIALLY_FAILED, defined
in section 7.1, "which is reported if the affected address
becomes PF". Also remove transport cwnd's update when moving
from PF back to ACTIVE , which is no longer in rfc7829 either.
Note that ulp_notify will be set to false if asoc->expose is
not 'enabled', according to last patch.
v2->v3:
- define SCTP_ADDR_PF SCTP_ADDR_POTENTIALLY_FAILED.
v3->v4:
- initialize spc_state with SCTP_ADDR_AVAILABLE, as Marcelo suggested.
- check asoc->pf_expose in sctp_assoc_control_transport(), as Marcelo

As said in rfc7829, section 3, point 12:
The SCTP stack SHOULD expose the PF state of its destination
addresses to the ULP as well as provide the means to notify the
ULP of state transitions of its destination addresses from
active to PF, and vice versa. However, it is recommended that
an SCTP stack implementing SCTP-PF also allows for the ULP to be
kept ignorant of the PF state of its destinations and the
associated state transitions, thus allowing for retention of the
simpler state transition model of [RFC4960] in the ULP.
Not only does it allow to expose the PF state to ULP, but also
allow to ignore sctp-pf to ULP.
So this patch is to add pf_expose per netns, sock and asoc. And in
sctp_assoc_control_transport(), ulp_notify will be set to false if
asoc->expose is not 'enabled' in next patch.
It also allows a user to change pf_expose per netns by sysctl, and
pf_expose per sock and asoc will be initialized with it.
Note that pf_expose also works for SCTP_GET_PEER_ADDR_INFO sockopt,
to not allow a user to query the state of a sctp-pf peer address
when pf_expose is 'disabled', as said in section 7.3.
v1->v2:
- Fix a build warning noticed by Nathan Chancellor.
v2->v3:
- set pf_expose to UNUSED by default to keep compatible with old
applications.
v3->v4:
- add a new entry for pf_expose on ip-sysctl.txt, as Marcelo suggested.
- change this patch to 1/5, and move sctp_assoc_control_transport
change into 2/5, as Marcelo suggested.
- use SCTP_PF_EXPOSE_UNSET instead of SCTP_PF_EXPOSE_UNUSED, and
set SCTP_PF_EXPOSE_UNSET to 0 in enum, as Marcelo suggested.

Historically linux tried to stick to RFC 791, 1122, 2003
for IPv4 ID field generation.
RFC 6864 made clear that no matter how hard we try,
we can not ensure unicity of IP ID within maximum
lifetime for all datagrams with a given source
address/destination address/protocol tuple.
Linux uses a per socket inet generator (inet_id), initialized
at connection startup with a XOR of 'jiffies' and other
fields that appear clear on the wire.
Thiemo Nagel pointed that this strategy is a privacy
concern as this provides 16 bits of entropy to fingerprint
devices.
Let's switch to a random starting point, this is just as
good as far as RFC 6864 is concerned and does not leak
anything critical.

It was caused by when sending msgs without binding a port, in the path:
inet_sendmsg() -> inet_send_prepare() -> inet_autobind() ->
.get_port/sctp_get_port(), sp->bind_hash will be set while bp->port is
not. Later when binding another port by sctp_setsockopt_bindx(), a new
bucket will be created as bp->port is not set.
sctp's autobind is supposed to call sctp_autobind() where it does all
things including setting bp->port. Since sctp_autobind() is called in
sctp_sendmsg() if the sk is not yet bound, it should have skipped the
auto bind.
THis patch is to avoid calling inet_autobind() in inet_send_prepare()
by changing sctp_prot .no_autobind with true, also remove the unused
.get_port.

sk_add_backlog() callers usually read sk->sk_rcvbuf without
owning the socket lock. This means sk_rcvbuf value can
be changed by other cpus, and KCSAN complains.
Add READ_ONCE() annotations to document the lockless nature
of these reads.
Note that writes over sk_rcvbuf should also use WRITE_ONCE(),
but this will be done in separate patches to ease stable
backports (if we decide this is relevant for stable trees).

This event is described in rfc6458#section-6.1.2:
SCTP_ADDR_MADE_PRIM: This address has now been made the primary
destination address. This notification is provided whenever an
address is made primary.

A helper sctp_ulpevent_nofity_peer_addr_change() will be extracted
to make peer_addr_change event and enqueue it, and the helper will
be called in sctp_assoc_add_peer() to send SCTP_ADDR_ADDED event.

This patch is to fix a NULL-ptr deref in selinux_socket_connect_helper:

It was caused by that the 'newsk' sk_socket was not set before going to
security sctp hook when processing asconf chunk with SCTP_PARAM_ADD_IP
or SCTP_PARAM_SET_PRIMARY:
inet_accept()->
sctp_accept():
lock_sock():
lock listening 'sk'
do_softirq():
sctp_rcv(): <-- [1]
asconf chunk arrives and
enqueued in 'sk' backlog
sctp_sock_migrate():
set asoc's sk to 'newsk'
release_sock():
sctp_backlog_rcv():
lock 'newsk'
sctp_process_asconf() <-- [2]
unlock 'newsk'
sock_graft():
set sk_socket <-- [3]
As it shows, at [1] the asconf chunk would be put into the listening 'sk'
backlog, as accept() was holding its sock lock. Then at [2] asconf would
get processed with 'newsk' as asoc's sk had been set to 'newsk'. However,
'newsk' sk_socket is not set until [3], while selinux_sctp_bind_connect()
would deref it, then kernel crashed.
Here to fix it by adding the chunk to sk_backlog until newsk sk_socket is
set when .accept() is done.
Note that sk->sk_socket can be NULL when the sock is closed, so SOCK_DEAD
flag is also needed to check in sctp_newsk_ready().
Thanks to Ondrej for reviewing the code.

commit 174e23810c
("sk_buff: drop all skb extensions on free and skb scrubbing") made napi
recycle always drop skb extensions. The additional skb_ext_del() that is
performed via nf_reset on napi skb recycle is not needed anymore.
Most nf_reset() calls in the stack are there so queued skb won't block
'rmmod nf_conntrack' indefinitely.
This removes the skb_ext_del from nf_reset, and renames it to a more
fitting nf_reset_ct().
In a few selected places, add a call to skb_ext_reset to make sure that
no active extensions remain.
I am submitting this for "net", because we're still early in the release
cycle. The patch applies to net-next too, but I think the rename causes
needless divergence between those trees.

Currently, ip6_xmit() sets skb->priority based on sk->sk_priority
This is not desirable for TCP since TCP shares the same ctl socket
for a given netns. We want to be able to send RST or ACK packets
with a non zero skb->priority.
This patch has no functional change.

Currently sctp_get_port_local() returns a long
which is either 0,1 or a pointer casted to long.
It's neither of the callers use the return value since
commit 62208f1245 ("net: sctp: simplify sctp_get_port").
Now two callers are sctp_get_port and sctp_do_bind,
they actually assumend a casted to an int was the same as
a pointer casted to a long, and they don't save the return
value just check whether it is zero or non-zero, so
it would better change return type from long to int for
sctp_get_port_local.

check, instead of asoc's. Otherwise, it's meaningless to make
pf_retrans per transport.
