Too many pointers back and forth are likely to confuse developers,
creating subtle bugs whenever we forget to syncronize them all.
As a usbnet driver, we should stick with the standard struct
usbnet fields as much as possible. The netdevice is one such
field.

Final conversions to configfs for mass storage, acm_ms, and
multi gadgets.
MUSB should now work out of the box on AM335x-based boards
(beagle bone white and black) with DMA thanks to Sebastian's
work.
We can now enable VERBOSE_DEBUG on builds of drivers/usb/gadget/
by selecting CONFIG_USB_GADGET_VERBOSE.
s3c-hsotg got quite a few non-critical fixes but also learned
a few new tricks (isochronous transfers, multi count support).
The Marvel USB3 Controller driver got a memory leak fix.
devm_usb_get_phy() learned not to return NULL, ever.
Other than these patches, we have the usual set of cleanups
ranging from removal of unnecessary *_set_drvdata() to using
SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS.

Do not overwrite the multi-byte fields of usb_wa_descriptor with their

For improved scheduling of transfers through a Transaction Translator,
ehci-hcd will need to store a bunch of information associated with the
FS/LS bus on the downstream side of the TT. This patch adds a pointer
for such HCD-private data to the usb_tt structure.

Host controller drivers use the NS_TO_US macro to convert transaction
times, which are computed in nanoseconds, to microseconds for
scheduling. Periodic scheduling requires worst-case estimates, but
the macro does its conversion using round-to-nearest. This patch
changes it to use round-up, giving a correct worst-case value.

omap_get_control_dev() is being deprecated as it doesn't support
multiple instances. As control device is present only from OMAP4
onwards which supports DT only, we use phandles to get the
reference to the control device.
Also get rid of "ti,has-mailbox" property as it is redundant and
we can determine that from whether "ctrl-module" property is present
or not. Get rid of has_mailbox from musb_hdrc_platform_data as well.

Add support for new device types and in the process rid of "ti,type"
device tree property. The correct type of device will be determined
from the compatible string instead.
Introduce a compatible string for each device type. At the moment
we support 4 types OTGHS, USB2, PIPE3 (e.g. USB3) and DRA7USB2.
Update DT binding information to reflect these changes.
Also get rid of omap_control_usb3_phy_power(). Just one function
i.e. omap_control_usb_phy_power() will now take care of all PHY types.

Commit 638c5115a7949(USBNET: support DMA SG) introduces DMA SG
if the usb host controller is capable of building packet from
discontinuous buffers, but missed handling padding packet when
building DMA SG.
This patch attachs the pre-allocated padding packet at the
end of the sg list, so padding packet can be sent to device
if drivers require that.

The following patch is required to resolve remote wake issues with
certain devices.
Issue description:
If the remote wake is issued from the device in a specific timing
condition while the system is entering sleep state then it may cause
system to auto wake on subsequent sleep cycle.
Root cause:
Host controller rebroadcasts the Resume signal > 100 µseconds after
receiving the original resume event from the device. For proper
function, some devices may require the rebroadcast of resume event
within the USB spec of 100µS.
Workaroud:
1. Filter the AMD platforms with Yangtze chipset, then judge of all the usb
devices are mouse or not. And get out the port id which attached a mouse
with Pixart controller.
2. Then reset the port which attached issue device during system resume
from S3.
[Q] Why the special devices are only mice? Would high speed devices
such as 3G modem or USB Bluetooth adapter trigger this issue?
- Current this sensitivity is only confined to devices that use Pixart
controllers. This controller is designed for use with LS mouse
devices only. We have not observed any other devices failing. There
may be a small risk for other devices also but this patch (reset
device in resume phase) will cover the cases if required.
[Q] Shouldn’t the resume signal be sent within 100 us for every
device?
- The Host controller may not send the resume signal within 100us,
this our host controller specification change. This is why we
require the patch to prevent side effects on certain known devices.
[Q] Why would clicking mouse INTENSELY to wake the system up trigger
this issue?
- This behavior is specific to the devices that use Pixart controller.
It is timing dependent on when the resume event is triggered during
the sleep state.
[Q] Is it a host controller issue or mouse?
- It is the host controller behavior during resume that triggers the
device incorrect behavior on the next resume.
This patch sets USB_QUIRK_RESET_RESUME flag for these Pixart-based mice
when they attached to platforms with AMD Yangtze chipset.

Now that URBs can be completed inside tasklets, we need a way of
determining whether a completion handler for a given endpoint is
currently running. Otherwise it's not possible to maintain the API
guarantee about keeping isochronous streams synchronous when an
underrun occurs.
This patch adds a field and a routine to check whether a completion
handler for a periodic endpoint is running. At the moment no
analogous routine appears to be necessary for async endpoints, but one
can always be added.

When the HWA encounters a STALL on a control endpoint, it should clear the
RPIPE_STALL feature on the RPIPE before processing the next transfer
request. Otherwise, all transfer requests on that endpoint after the
first STALL will fail because the RPIPE is still in the halted state.
This also removes the unneccessary call to spin_lock_irqsave for a nested
lock that was present in the first patch.

Currently, the controller only runs when the ci->vbus_active is true.
So the flag CI_HDRC_PULLUP_ON_VBUS is useless no longer.
If the user doesn't have otgsc, he/she needs to change ci_handle_vbus_change
to update ci->vbus_active.

Since we need otgsc to know vbus's status at some chipidea
controllers even it is peripheral-only mode. Besides, some
SoCs (eg, AR9331 SoC) don't have otgsc register even
the DCCPARAMS_DC and DCCPARAMS_HC are both 1 at CAP_DCCPARAMS.
We inroduce flag CI_HDRC_DUAL_ROLE_NOT_OTG to indicate if the
controller is dual role, but not supports OTG. If this flag is
not set, we follow the rule that if DCCPARAMS_DC and DCCPARAMS_HC
are both 1 at CAP_DCCPARAMS, then this controller is otg capable.

This patch implements the mechanism of giveback of URB in
tasklet context, so that hardware interrupt handling time for
usb host controller can be saved much, and HCD interrupt handling
can be simplified.
Motivations:
1), on some arch(such as ARM), DMA mapping/unmapping is a bit
time-consuming, for example: when accessing usb mass storage
via EHCI on pandaboard, the common length of transfer buffer is 120KB,
the time consumed on DMA unmapping may reach hundreds of microseconds;
even on A15 based box, the time is still about scores of microseconds
2), on some arch, reading DMA coherent memoery is very time-consuming,
the most common example is usb video class driver[1]
3), driver's complete() callback may do much things which is driver
specific, so the time is consumed unnecessarily in hardware irq context.
4), running driver's complete() callback in hardware irq context causes
that host controller driver has to release its lock in interrupt handler,
so reacquiring the lock after return may busy wait a while and increase
interrupt handling time. More seriously, releasing the HCD lock makes
HCD becoming quite complicated to deal with introduced races.
So the patch proposes to run giveback of URB in tasklet context, then
time consumed in HCD irq handling doesn't depend on drivers' complete and
DMA mapping/unmapping any more, also we can simplify HCD since the HCD
lock isn't needed to be released during irq handling.
The patch should be reasonable and doable:
1), for drivers, they don't care if the complete() is called in hard irq
context or softirq context
2), the biggest change is the situation in which usb_submit_urb() is called
in complete() callback, so the introduced tasklet schedule delay might be a
con, but it shouldn't be a big deal:
- control/bulk asynchronous transfer isn't sensitive to schedule
delay
- the patch schedules giveback of periodic URBs using
tasklet_hi_schedule, so the introduced delay should be very
small
- for ISOC transfer, generally, drivers submit several URBs
concurrently to avoid interrupt delay, so it is OK with the
little schedule delay.
- for interrupt transfer, generally, drivers only submit one URB
at the same time, but interrupt transfer is often used in event
report, polling, ... situations, and a little delay should be OK.
Considered that HCDs may optimize on submitting URB in complete(), the
patch may cause the optimization not working, so introduces one flag to mark
if the HCD supports to run giveback URB in tasklet context. When all HCDs
are ready, the flag can be removed.

The Tegra30 TRM recommends configuration of certain PHY parameters for
optimal quality. Program the following registers based on device tree
parameters:
- UTMIP_XCVR_HSSLEW: HS slew rate control.
- UTMIP_HSSQUELCH_LEVEL: HS squelch detector level
- UTMIP_HSDISCON_LEVEL: HS disconnect detector level.
These registers exist in Tegra20, but programming them hasn't been
necessary, so these parameters won't be set on Tegra20 to keep the
device trees backward compatible.
Additionally, the UTMIP_XCVR_SETUP parameter can be set from fuses
instead of a software-programmed value, as the optimal value can
vary between invidual boards. The boolean property
nvidia,xcvr-setup-use-fuses can be used to enable this behaviour.

The Tegra30 USB PHY is a bit different than the Tegra20 PHY:
- The EHCI controller supports the HOSTPC register extension, and some
of the fields that the PHY needs to modify (PHCD and PTS) have moved
to the new HOSTPC register.
- Some of the UTMI PLL configuration registers have moved from the USB
register space to the Clock-And-Reset controller space. In Tegra30
the clock driver is responsible for configuring the UTMI PLL.
- The USBMODE register must be explicitly written to enter host mode.
- Certain PHY parameters need to be programmed for optimal signal
quality. Support for this will be added in the next patch.
The new tegra_phy_soc_config structure is added to describe the
differences between the SoCs.

The "nop" driver isn't a do-nothing-stub but supports a couple functions
like clock on/off or is able to use a voltage regulator. This patch
simply renames the driver to "generic" since it is easy possible to
extend it by a simple function istead of writing a complete driver.

commit 052a11d (usb: phy: make PHY driver selection
possible by controller drivers) changed the rules
on how drivers/usb/phy/of.c would be compiled and
failed to update include/linux/usb/of.h accordingly.
Because of that, we can fall into situations where
of_usb_get_phy_mode() is redefined. In order to fix
the error, we update the IS_ENABLED() check in
include/linux/usb/of.h to reflect the condition
where of.c is built.

The tegra ehci driver has enabled USB vbus regulators directly using
GPIOs and the device tree attribute nvidia,vbus-gpio. This is ugly
and causes error messages on boot when both the regulator driver
and the ehci driver want access to the same GPIO.
After this patch, usb vbus regulators for tegra usb phy devices are specified
with the device tree attribute vbus-supply = <&x> where x is a regulator defined
in the device tree. The old nvidia,vbus-gpio property is no longer supported.

usb_gadget_set_state() will call sysfs_notify()
which might sleep. Some users might want to call
usb_gadget_set_state() from the very IRQ handler
which actually changes the gadget state.
Instead of having every UDC driver add their own
workqueue for such a simple notification, we're
adding it generically to our struct usb_gadget,
so the details are hidden from all UDC drivers.

This patch centralizes computing of max rx/tx qlen, because:
- RX_QLEN()/TX_QLEN() is called in hot path
- computing depends on device's usb speed, now we have ls/fs, hs, ss,
so more checks need to be involved
- in fact, max rx/tx qlen should not only depend on device USB
speed, but also depend on ethernet link speed, so we need to
consider that in future.
- if SG support is done, max tx qlen may need change too
Generally, hard_mtu and rx_urb_size are changed in bind(), reset()
and link_reset() callback, and change mtu network operation, this
patches introduces the API of usbnet_update_max_qlen(), and calls
it in above path.

These changes are all to SoC-specific code, a total of 33 branches on
17 platforms were pulled into this. Like last time, Renesas sh-mobile
is now the platform with the most changes, followed by OMAP and EXYNOS.
Two new platforms, TI Keystone and Rockchips RK3xxx are added in
this branch, both containing almost no platform specific code at all,
since they are using generic subsystem interfaces for clocks, pinctrl,
interrupts etc. The device drivers are getting merged through the
respective subsystem maintainer trees.
One more SoC (u300) is now multiplatform capable and several others
(shmobile, exynos, msm, integrator, kirkwood, clps711x) are moving
towards that goal with this series but need more work.
Also noteworthy is the work on PCI here, which is traditionally part of
the SoC specific code. With the changes done by Thomas Petazzoni, we can
now more easily have PCI host controller drivers as loadable modules and
keep them separate from the platform code in drivers/pci/host. This has
already led to the discovery that three platforms (exynos, spear and imx)
are actually using an identical PCIe host controller and will be able
to share a driver once support for spear and imx is added.

The Tegra EHCI driver directly calls various functions in the Tegra USB
PHY driver. The reverse is also true; the PHY driver calls into the EHCI
driver. This is problematic when the two are built as modules.
The calls from the PHY to EHCI driver were originally added in commit
bbdabdb "usb: add APIs to access host registers from Tegra PHY", for the
following reasons:
1) The register being touched is an EHCI register, so logically only the
EHCI driver should touch it.
2) (1) implies that some locking may be needed to correctly implement the
r/m/w access to this shared register.
3) We were expecting to pass only the PHY register space to the Tegra PHY
driver, and hence it would not have access to touch the shared
registers.
To solve this, that commit added functions in the EHCI driver to touch the
shared register on behalf of the PHY driver.
In practice, we ended up not having any locking in the implementaiton of
those functions, and I've been led to believe this is safe. Equally, (3)
did not happen either. Hence, it is possible for the PHY driver to touch
the shared register directly.
Given that, this patch moves the code to touch the shared register back
into the PHY driver, to eliminate the module problems. If we actually
need locking or co-ordination in the future, I propose we put the lock
support into some pre-existing core module, or into a third separate
module, in order to avoid the circular dependencies.

Even if a chipidea core is otg capable the board may not be. This allows
to explicitly set the core to host/peripheral mode. Without these flags
the driver falls back to the old behaviour.

We had the limit of 255 USB to serial devices on one system for almost
15 years, with no complaints. But now it's time to move on from these
tiny "baby" systems, and bump the number up to 512, which should last
us a few more years:

this many tty devices allocated. Converting the driver to use

This moves the allocation of minor device numbers from a static array to
be dynamic, using the idr interface. This means that you could
potentially get "gaps" in a minor number range for a single USB serial
device with multiple ports, but all should still work properly.
We remove the 'minor' field from the usb_serial structure, as it no
longer makes any sense for it (use the field in the usb_serial_port
structure if you really want to know this number), and take the fact
that we were overloading a number in this field to determine if we had
initialized the minor numbers or not, and just use a flag variable
instead.
Note, we still have the limitation of 255 USB to serial devices in the
system, as that is all we are registering with the TTY layer at this
point in time.

All function drivers are now converted to our new configfs-based
binding. Eventually this will help us getting rid of in-kernel
gadget drivers and only keep function drivers in the kernel.
MUSB was taught that it needs to be built for host-only and
device-only modes too. We had this support long ago but it
involved a ridiculous amount of ifdefs. Now we have a much
cleaner approach.

Sometimes there is a need to initialize some non-standard registers mapped to
the EHCI region before accessing the standard EHCI registers. Add pre_setup()
method with 'struct usb_hcd *' parameter to be called just before ehci_setup()
to the 'ehci-platform' driver's platform data for this purpose...
While at it, add the missing incomplete declaration of 'struct platform_device'
to <linux/usb/ehci_pdriver.h>...
The patch has been tested on the Marzen and BOCK-W boards.

The usb_serial_port structure had the number field, which was the minor
number for the port, which almost no one really cared about. They
really wanted the number of the port within the device, which you had to
subtract from the minor of the parent usb_serial_device structure. To
clean this up, provide the real minor number of the port, and the number
of the port within the serial device separately, as these numbers might
not be related in the future.
Bonus is that this cleans up a lot of logic in the drivers, and saves
lines overall.

This patch adds Wireless USB root hub support to the USB HCD. It allows
the HWA to create its root hub which previously failed because the HCD
treated wireless root hubs the same as USB2 high speed hubs. The creation
of the root hub would fail in that case due to lack of TTs which wireless
root hubs do not support.

Registered Tegra USB PHY as a separate platform driver.
To synchronize host controller and PHY initialization, used deferred
probe mechanism. As PHY should be initialized before EHCI starts running,
deferred probe of Tegra EHCI driver till PHY probe gets completed.
Got rid of instance number based handling in host driver.
Made use of DT params to get the PHY Pad registers.

Add generic wait_until_sent implementation which polls for empty

Some drivers (sierra_net) need the status interrupt URB
active even when the device is closed, because they receive
custom indications from firmware. Add functions to refcount
the status interrupt URB submit/kill operation so that
sub-drivers and the generic driver don't fight over whether
the status interrupt URB is active or not.
A sub-driver can call usbnet_status_start() at any time, but
the URB is only submitted the first time the function is
called. Likewise, when the sub-driver is done with the URB,
it calls usbnet_status_stop() but the URB is only killed when
all users have stopped it. The URB is still killed and
re-submitted for suspend/resume, as before, with the same
refcount it had at suspend.

A bunch of changes here, the most interesting one subsystem wise being
Morimoto-san's work to create snd_soc_component which doesn't do much

The link change is detected via the interrupt pipe, and bulk
pipes are responsible for transfering packets, so it is reasonable
to stop bulk transfer after link is reported as off.
Two adavantages may be obtained with stopping bulk transfer
after link becomes off:
- USB bus bandwidth is saved(USB bus is shared bus except for
USB3.0), for example, lots of 'IN' token packets and 'NYET'
handshake packets is transfered on 2.0 bus.
- probabaly power might be saved for usb host controller since
cancelling bulk transfer may disable the asynchronous schedule of
host controller.
With this patch, when link becomes off, about ~10% performance
boost can be found on bulk transfer of anther usb device which
is attached to same bus with the usbnet device, see below
test on next-20130410:
- read from usb mass storage(Sandisk Extreme USB 3.0) on pandaboard
with below command after unplugging ethernet cable:

This patch (as1675) removes the CONFIG_USB_SUSPEND option, essentially
replacing it everywhere with CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME (except for one place
in hub.c, where it is replaced with CONFIG_PM because the code needs
to be used in both runtime and system PM). The net result is code
shrinkage and simplification.
There's very little point in keeping CONFIG_USB_SUSPEND because almost
everybody enables it. The few that don't will find that the usbcore
module has gotten somewhat bigger and they will have to take active
measures if they want to prevent hubs from being runtime suspended.

Add generic TIOCMIWAIT implementation which correctly handles hangup,
USB-device disconnect, does not rely on the deprecated sleep_on
functions and hence does not suffer from the races currently affecting
several usb-serial drivers.
This makes it much easier to add TIOCMIWAIT support to subdrivers as the
tricky details related to hangup and disconnect (e.g. atomicity, that
the private port data may have been freed when woken up, and waking up
processes at disconnect) have been handled once and for all.
To add support to a subdriver, simply set the tiocmiwait-port-operation
field, update the port icount fields and wake up any process sleeping on
the tty-port modem-status-change wait queue on changes.
Note that the tty-port initialised flag can be used to detect
disconnected as the port will be hung up as part of disconnect (and
cannot be reactivated due to the disconnected flag). However, as the
tty-port implementation currently wakes up processes before calling port
shutdown, the tty-hupping flag must also be checked to detect hangup for
now.

Userspace applications need to know the maximum supported message
size.
The cdc-wdm driver translates between a character device stream
and a message based protocol. Each message is transported as a
usb control message with no further encapsulation or syncronization.
Each read or write on the character device should translate to
exactly one usb control message to ensure that message boundaries
are kept intact. That means that the userspace application must
know the maximum message size supported by the device and driver,
making this size a vital part of the cdc-wdm character device API.
CDC WDM and CDC MBIM functions export the maximum supported
message size through CDC functional descriptors. The cdc-wdm and
cdc_mbim drivers will parse these descriptors and use the value
chosen by the device. The only current way for a userspace
application to retrive the value is by duplicating the descriptor
parsing. This is an unnecessary complex task, and application
writers are likely to postpone it, using a fixed value and adding
a "todo" item.
QMI functions have no way to tell the host what message size they
support. The qmi_wwan driver use a fixed value based on protocol
recommendations and observed device behaviour. Userspace
applications must know and hard code the same value. This scheme
will break if we ever encounter a QMI device needing a device
specific message size quirk. We are currently unable to support
such a device because using a non default size would break the
implicit userspace API.
The message size is currently a hidden attribute of the cdc-wdm
userspace API. Retrieving it is unnecessarily complex, increasing
the possibility of drivers and applications using different limits.
The resulting errors are hard to debug, and can only be replicated
on identical hardware.
Exporting the maximum message size from the driver simplifies the
task for the userspace application, and creates a unified
information source independent of device and function class. It also
serves to document that the message size is part of the cdc-wdm
userspace API.
This proposed API extension has been presented for the authors of
userspace applications and libraries using the current API: libmbim,
libqmi, uqmi, oFono and ModemManager. The replies were:

xhci driver divides the root hub into two logical hubs which work
respectively for usb 2.0 and usb 3.0 devices. They are independent
devices in the usb core. But in the ACPI table, it's one device node
and all usb2.0 and usb3.0 ports are under it. Binding usb port with
its acpi node needs the raw port number which is reflected in the xhci
extended capabilities table. This patch is to add find_raw_port_number
callback to struct hc_driver(), fill it with xhci_find_raw_port_number()
which will return raw port number and add a wrap usb_hcd_find_raw_port_number().
Otherwise, refactor xhci_find_real_port_number(). Using
xhci_find_raw_port_number() to get real index in the HW port status
registers instead of scanning through the xHCI roothub port array.
This can help to speed up.
All addresses in xhci->usb2_ports and xhci->usb3_ports array are
kown good ports and don't include following bad ports in the extended
capabilities talbe.
(1) root port that doesn't have an entry
(2) root port with unknown speed
(3) root port that is listed twice and with different speeds.
So xhci_find_raw_port_number() will only return port num of good ones
and never touch bad ports above.

Add modem-status-change wait queue to struct usb_serial_port that
subdrivers can use to implement TIOCMIWAIT.
Currently subdrivers use a private wait queue which may have been
released when waking up after device disconnected.
Note that we're adding a new wait queue rather than reusing the tty-port
one as we do not want to get woken up at hangup (yet).

Update irq handling code to notify all possible link status changes of
AB8500 and AB8505 to the ux500-musb glue driver. The additional event
codes will be used for pm-runtime implementation, and are defined in a
separate ux500-specific header.
This also modify the irq registration code to use devm_* helpers and
drop all non necessary fail path code.

the charge pump.
Whenever we have DRD devices, we need to be
able to turn VBUS on or off whenever we want.
Note that in the ideal case, this would be
controlled by the ID-pin Interrupt, but not
all devices have ID-pin properly routed since
manufacturers can choose to save that trace
if they're building a host-only product out
of a DRD IP.
This is also useful during debugging where
we might not have the proper cable hanging
around.

We already have a considerable amount of USB
PHY drivers, making it a menuconfig just
prevents us from adding too much churn to
USB's menuconfig.
While at that, also select USB_OTG_UTILS from
this new menuconfig just to keep backwards
compatibility until we manage to remove
that symbol.

Currently all UDC drivers are calling
device_register() before calling
usb_add_gadget_udc(). In order to avoid
code duplication, we can allow udc-core.c
register that device.
However that would become a really large patch,
so to cope with the meanwhile and allow us
to write bite-sized patches, we're adding
a flag which will be set by UDC driver once
it removes the code for registering the
gadget device.
Once all are converted, the new flag will
be removed.

Add clk_rate parameter to platform data. If supplied, the
NOP phy driver will program the clock to that rate during probe.
Also add 2 flags, needs_vcc and needs_reset.
If the flag is set and the regulator couldn't be found
then the driver will bail out with -EPROBE_DEFER.

commit bd329e1 ("net: cdc_ncm: do not bind to NCM compatible MBIM devices")
introduced a new policy, preferring MBIM for dual NCM/MBIM functions if
the cdc_mbim driver was enabled. This caused a regression for users
wanting to use NCM.
Devices implementing NCM backwards compatibility according to section
3.2 of the MBIM v1.0 specification allow either NCM or MBIM on a single
USB function, using different altsettings. The cdc_ncm and cdc_mbim
drivers will both probe such functions, and must agree on a common
policy for selecting either MBIM or NCM. Until now, this policy has
been set at build time based on CONFIG_USB_NET_CDC_MBIM.
Use a module parameter to set the system policy at runtime, allowing the
user to prefer NCM on systems with the cdc_mbim driver.

The Tegra USB driver has a number of issues:

A device sending 0 length frames as fast as it can has been
observed killing the host system due to the resulting memory
pressure.
Temporarily disable RX skb allocation and URB submission when
the current error ratio is high, preventing us from trying to
allocate an infinite number of skbs. Reenable as soon as we
are finished processing the done queue, allowing the device
to continue working after short error bursts.

This patch (as1649) adds a mechanism for host controller drivers to
inform usbcore when they have begun or ended resume signalling on a
particular root-hub port. The core will then make sure that the root
hub does not get runtime-suspended while the port resume is going on.
Since commit 596d789a21 (USB: set hub's
default autosuspend delay as 0), the system tries to suspend hubs
whenever they aren't in use. While a root-hub port is being resumed,
the root hub does not appear to be in use. Attempted runtime suspends
fail because of the ongoing port resume, but the PM core just keeps on
trying over and over again. We want to prevent this wasteful effort.

Added a new driver for the usb part of control module. This has an API
to power on the USB2 phy and an API to write to the mailbox depending on
whether MUSB has to act in host mode or in device mode.
Writing to control module registers for doing the above task which was
previously done in omap glue and in omap-usb2 phy will be removed.

Added an API devm_usb_get_phy_by_phandle(), to get usb phy by passing a
device node phandle value. This function will return a pointer to
the phy on success, -EPROBE_DEFER if there is a device_node for the phandle,
but the phy has not been added, or a ERR_PTR() otherwise.

In order to add support for multipe PHY's of the same type, new API's
for adding PHY and getting PHY has been added. Now the binding
information for the PHY and controller should be done in platform file
using usb_bind_phy API. And for getting a PHY, the device pointer of the
USB controller and an index should be passed. Based on the binding
information that is added in the platform file, usb_get_phy_dev will return the
appropriate PHY.
Already existing API's to add and get phy by type is not removed. These
API's are deprecated and will be removed once all the platforms start to
use the new API.

In order to support platforms which has multiple PHY's (of same type) and
which has multiple USB controllers, a new design is adopted wherin the binding
information (between the PHY and the USB controller) should be passed to the
PHY library from platform specific file (board file).
So added a new API to pass the binding information.

Add an API in the omap glue layer to write to the mailbox register which
can be used by comparator driver(twl). To pass the detection of the attached
device (signified by VBUS, ID) to the dwc3 core, dwc3 core has to write
to the mailbox regiter.

We do have some USB net devices, which cannot do ARP.
so we can introduce a new flag FLAG_NOARP, then client drivers
can easily handle this kind of devices

The USB strings don't (yet) fully work in multiple configs/gadget
environment. The string id is assigned to the descriptor and the struct
usb_strings. We create a copy of the individual descriptor so we don't
clash if we use a function more than once. However, we have only one
struct usb_string for each string.
Currently each function which is used multiple times checks for
"id != 0" and only assigns string ids if it did not happen yet. This
works well if we use the same function multiple times as long as we do
it within the "one" gadget we have. Trouble starts once we use the same
function in a second gadget.
In order to solve this I introduce usb_gstrings_attach(). This function will
crate a copy all structs except for the strings which are not copied.
After the copy it will assign USB ids and attach it to cdev.

The configfs can't use all of composite's hooks because ->bind() and
->unbind() has to be done a little differently. ->disconnect() and
->setup() on the hand can be recycled.
This patch exports them both so configfs can use them.

This patch factors out two helper functions from composite_bind()
that is composite_dev_prepare() and its counterpart
composite_dev_cleanup().
This will be used by the configfs which requries a slightly different
bind/setup code because part of its configurations (i.e. config
descripts, cdev, …) are setup in advance and VID/PID and so one should
not be overwritten. Also the setup of ep0 endpoint can be delayed until
the UDC is assigned.

This patch adds udc_attach_driver() which allows to bind an UDC which is
specified by name to a driver. The name of available UDCs can be
obtained from /sys/class/udc. This interface is intended for configfs
interface.

We can have multiple usb_functions which origin is the same "instance".
Within one USB configuration there should be only one function of an
instance. This back pointer helps configfs to recoginze to which
instance a given usb_function belongs.

This patch provides an infrastructure to register & unregister a USB
function. This allows to turn a function into a module and avoid the
'#include "f_.*.c"' magic and we get a clear API / cut between the bare
gadget and its functions.
The concept is simple:
Each function defines the DECLARE_USB_FUNCTION_INIT macro whith an unique
name of the function and two allocation functions.
- one to create an "instance". The instance holds the current configuration
set. In case there are two usb_configudations with one function there will
be one instance and two usb_functions
- one to create an "function" from the instance.
The name of the instance is used to automaticaly load the module if it the
instance is not yet available.
The usb_function callbacks are slightly modified and extended:
- usb_get_function()
creates a struct usb_function inclunding all pointers (bind,
unbind,…). It uses the "instance" to map its configuration. So we can
have _two_ struct usb_function, one for each usb_configuration.
- ->unbind()
Since the struct usb_function was not allocated in ->bind() it should
not kfree()d here. This function should only reverse what happens in
->bind() that is request cleanup and the cleanup of allocated
descriptors.
- ->free_func()

The USB 2.0 specification says that bMaxPower is the maximum power
consumption expressed in 2 mA units and the USB 3.0 specification says
that it is expressed in 8 mA units.
This patch renames bMaxPower to MaxPower and the various /2 and *2 are
removed. Before reporting the config descriptor, the proper value is
computer based on the speed, all in-tree users are updated. MaxPower is
also increased to u16 so we can store the nokia gadget value which is
larger than the max value allowed for u8.
