Replace the existing STMP3xxx driver because it has enough drawbacks
that a rewrite is apropriate. The new driver is designed to use the
watchdog framework which makes it a lot smaller and avoids open coding
the watchdog API again. It also uses now an explicitly exported function
from the RTC driver to set up its registers (the old driver silently
reused the hopefully(!) already remapped RTC registers). Also, this
driver is mach independent, while the old one depends on a mach replaced
by another one a year ago. Since the user interface is still the
standard watchdog API, users don't need to adapt.

The ath79_wdt driver uses a fixed memory address
currently. Although this is working with each
currently supported SoCs, but this may change
in the future. Additionally, the driver includes
platform specific header files in order to be
able to get the memory base of the watchdog
device.
The patch adds a memory resource to the platform
device, and converts the driver to get the base
address of the watchdog device from that.

In case of SP5100 or SB7x0 chipsets, the sp5100_tco module writes zero to
reserved bits. The module, however, shouldn't depend on specific default
value, and should perform a read-merge-write operation for the reserved
bits.
This patch makes the sp5100_tco module perform a read-merge-write operation
on all the chipset (sp5100, sb7x0, sb8x0 or later).

In case of SB800 or later chipset and re-programming MMIO address(*),
sp5100_tco module may read incorrect value of reserved bit, because the module
reads a value from an incorrect I/O address. However, this bug doesn't cause
a problem, because when re-programming MMIO address, by chance the module
writes zero (this is BIOS's default value) to the low three bits of register.
* In most cases, PC with SB8x0 or later chipset doesn't need to re-programming
MMIO address, because such PC can enable AcpiMmio and can use 0xfed80b00 for
watchdog register base address.
This patch fixes this bug.

"For:
- Some fixes at edac drivers (i7core_edac, sb_edac, i3200_edac);
- error injection support for i5100, when EDAC debug is enabled;
- fix edac when it is loaded builtin (early init for the subsystem);
- a "Firmware First" EDAC driver, allowing ghes to report errors via
EDAC (ghes-edac).
With regards to ghes-edac, this fixes a longstanding BZ at Red Hat
that happens with Nehalem and Sandy Bridge CPUs: when both GHES and
i7core_edac or sb_edac are running, the error reports are
unpredictable, as both BIOS and OS race to access the registers. With
ghes-edac, the EDAC core will refuse to register any other concurrent
memory error driver.
This patchset moves the ghes struct definitions to a separate header
file (include/acpi/ghes.h) and adds 3 hooks at apei/ghes.c to
register/unregister and to report errors via ghes-edac. Those changes
were acked by ghes driver maintainer (Huang)."

The new intel_powerclamp thermal cooling device driver was merged in
commit 2af78448ff (Pull thermal management updates from Zhang Rui)
without any data conflicts. But there was a more subtle conflict I
missed: the driver uses MAX_USER_RT_PRIO, but commit 8bd75c77b7
("sched/rt: Move rt specific bits into new header file") had moved that
define from <linux/sched.h> to <linux/sched/rt.h>.
Which caused this build failure:
drivers/thermal/intel_powerclamp.c: In function ‘clamp_thread’:
drivers/thermal/intel_powerclamp.c:360:21: error: ‘MAX_USER_RT_PRIO’ undeclared (first use in this function)
drivers/thermal/intel_powerclamp.c:360:21: note: each undeclared identifier is reported only once for each function it appears in
And because I don't do a full "make allmodconfig" build after each pull,
I didn't notice until too late. So now the fix is here, separately from
the merge commit.

This series contains changes for the Marvell EBU platforms (mvebu,
orion, kirkwood, dove) that were not part of the first set of pull
requests because of dependencies on the MMC tree, and being submitted
a little late.
Notable changes are:
* More devices get moved out of board files into device tree
descriptions. The remaining devices listed in there have patches
that will get sent for 3.10, after which we can remove a lot of the
board files entirely. We are doing the pinctrl and mmc drivers here,
ethernet and PCI still remain.
* SMP support for mvebu is improved with support for the
local interrupt controller.
* The Guruplug board file gets replaced with a DT description.
Unfortunately, the dependency on the MMC tree turned out to be a much
larger problem than expected, when the MMC maintainer rebased the patches
in his tree that all of the patches in this branch are based on, which
caused merge conflicts between the new and old versions of those patches.
To work around the merge conflicts, this branch rebases all patches
on top of the respective MMC patches that did get merged into 3.9.
The patches are all identical to the versions that were part of
linux-next, but have a new commit date.
Merge conflicts:
* in board-nsa310.c, the gpio.h inclusion was removed prematurely and
put back as a bug fix earlier. With this series it is really not needed
any more.
* The patch to add rtc support was already applied by Andrew Morton,
and conflicts with a second copy that was in this series, which adds
a lot of other devices to arch/arm/boot/dts/armada-370-xp.dtsi.

The base patch of the branch changes the format of the dts files to a

Pull Ceph updates from Sage Weil:
"A few groups of patches here. Alex has been hard at work improving
the RBD code, layout groundwork for understanding the new formats and
doing layering. Most of the infrastructure is now in place for the
final bits that will come with the next window.
There are a few changes to the data layout. Jim Schutt's patch fixes
some non-ideal CRUSH behavior, and a set of patches from me updates
the client to speak a newer version of the protocol and implement an
improved hashing strategy across storage nodes (when the server side
supports it too).
A pair of patches from Sam Lang fix the atomicity of open+create
operations. Several patches from Yan, Zheng fix various mds/client
issues that turned up during multi-mds torture tests.
A final set of patches expose file layouts via virtual xattrs, and
allow the policies to be set on directories via xattrs as well
(avoiding the awkward ioctl interface and providing a consistent
interface for both kernel mount and ceph-fuse users)."

Fix memory leak in phy_device_free() for the case when phy_device*
returned by phy_device_create() is not registered in the system.
Bug description:
phy_device_create() sets name of kobject using dev_set_name(), which
allocates memory using kvasprintf(), but this memory isn't freed if
the underlying device isn't registered properly, because kobject_cleanup()
is not called in that case. This can happen (and actually is happening on
our machines) if phy_device_register(), called by mdiobus_scan(), fails.
Patch description:

counterpart phy_device_free() just drops one reference to the device,

The original device tree binding for this driver, from Viresh Kumar
unfortunately conflicted with the generic DMA binding, and did not allow
to completely seperate slave device configuration from the controller.
This is an attempt to replace it with an implementation of the generic
binding, but it is currently completely untested, because I do not have
any hardware with this particular controller.
The patch applies on top of the slave-dma tree, which contains both the base
support for the generic DMA binding, as well as the earlier attempt from
Viresh. Both of these are currently not merged upstream however.
This version incorporates feedback from Viresh Kumar, Andy Shevchenko
and Russell King.

I'm not sure why, but the hlist for each entry iterators were conceived
list_for_each_entry(pos, head, member)
The hlist ones were greedy and wanted an extra parameter:
hlist_for_each_entry(tpos, pos, head, member)
Why did they need an extra pos parameter? I'm not quite sure. Not only
they don't really need it, it also prevents the iterator from looking
exactly like the list iterator, which is unfortunate.
Besides the semantic patch, there was some manual work required:
- Fix up the actual hlist iterators in linux/list.h
- Fix up the declaration of other iterators based on the hlist ones.
- A very small amount of places were using the 'node' parameter, this
was modified to use 'obj->member' instead.
- Coccinelle didn't handle the hlist_for_each_entry_safe iterator
properly, so those had to be fixed up manually.
The semantic patch which is mostly the work of Peter Senna Tschudin is here:

I just fixed this in "drivers/block/rbd.c" and I noticed that
"drivers/block/nbd.c" has the same problem. Fix a warning issued by
sparse by adding some lockdep annotations to indicate the queue lock gets
dropped (because it's held when do_nbd_request() is called) and
re-acquired within the function.

There are two problems with shutdown in the NBD driver.
1: Receiving the NBD_DISCONNECT ioctl does not sync the filesystem.
This patch adds the sync operation into __nbd_ioctl()'s
NBD_DISCONNECT handler. This is useful because BLKFLSBUF is restricted
to processes that have CAP_SYS_ADMIN, and the NBD client may not
possess it (fsync of the block device does not sync the filesystem,
either).
2: Once we clear the socket we have no guarantee that later reads will
come from the same backing storage.
The patch adds calls to kill_bdev() in __nbd_ioctl()'s socket
clearing code so the page cache is cleaned, lest reads that hit on the
page cache will return stale data from the previously-accessible disk.
Example:
# qemu-nbd -r -c/dev/nbd0 /dev/sr0
# file -s /dev/nbd0
/dev/stdin: # UDF filesystem data (version 1.5) etc.
# qemu-nbd -d /dev/nbd0
# qemu-nbd -r -c/dev/nbd0 /dev/sda
# file -s /dev/nbd0
/dev/stdin: # UDF filesystem data (version 1.5) etc.
While /dev/sda has:
# file -s /dev/sda
/dev/sda: x86 boot sector; etc.

Currently, the NBD device does not accept flush requests from the Linux
block layer. If the NBD server opened the target with neither O_SYNC nor
O_DSYNC, however, the device will be effectively backed by a writeback
cache. Without issuing flushes properly, operation of the NBD device will
not be safe against power losses.
The NBD protocol has support for both a cache flush command and a FUA
command flag; the server will also pass a flag to note its support for
these features. This patch adds support for the cache flush command and
flag. In the kernel, we receive the flags via the NBD_SET_FLAGS ioctl,
and map NBD_FLAG_SEND_FLUSH to the argument of blk_queue_flush. When the
flag is active the block layer will send REQ_FLUSH requests, which we
translate to NBD_CMD_FLUSH commands.
FUA support is not included in this patch because all free software
servers implement it with a full fdatasync; thus it has no advantage over
supporting flush only. Because I [Paolo] cannot really benchmark it in a
realistic scenario, I cannot tell if it is a good idea or not. It is also
not clear if it is valid for an NBD server to support FUA but not flush.
The Linux block layer gives a warning for this combination, the NBD
protocol documentation says nothing about it.
The patch also fixes a small problem in the handling of flags: nbd->flags
must be cleared at the end of NBD_DO_IT, but the driver was not doing
that. The bug manifests itself as follows. Suppose you two different
client/server pairs to start the NBD device. Suppose also that the first
client supports NBD_SET_FLAGS, and the first server sends
NBD_FLAG_SEND_FLUSH; the second pair instead does neither of these two
things. Before this patch, the second invocation of NBD_DO_IT will use a
stale value of nbd->flags, and the second server will issue an error every
time it receives an NBD_CMD_FLUSH command.
This bug is pre-existing, but it becomes much more important after this
patch; flush failures make the device pretty much unusable, unlike

The configuration change building ipmi_si into the kernel precludes the
use of a custom driver that can utilize more than one KCS interface,
multiple IPMBs, and more than one BMC. This capability is important for
fault-tolerant systems.
Even if the kernel option ipmi_si.trydefaults=0 is specified, ipmi_si
discovers and claims one of the KCS interfaces on a Stratus server. The
inability to now prevent the kernel from managing this device is a
regression from previous kernels. The regression breaks a capability
fault-tolerant vendors have relied upon.
To support both ACPI opregion access and the need to avoid activation of
ipmi_si on some platforms, we've added two new kernel options,
ipmi_si.tryacpi and ipmi_si.trydmi be added to prevent ipmi_si from
initializing when these options are set to 0 on the kernel command line.
With these options at the default value of 1, ipmi_si init proceeds
according to the kernel default.

MAX_IDR_MASK is another weirdness in the idr interface. As idr covers
whole positive integer range, it's defined as 0x7fffffff or INT_MAX.
Its usage in idr_find(), idr_replace() and idr_remove() is bizarre.
They basically mask off the sign bit and operate on the rest, so if
the caller, by accident, passes in a negative number, the sign bit
will be masked off and the remaining part will be used as if that was
the input, which is worse than crashing.
The constant is visible in idr.h and there are several users in the
kernel.
* drivers/i2c/i2c-core.c:i2c_add_numbered_adapter()
Basically used to test if adap->nr is a negative number which isn't
-1 and returns -EINVAL if so. idr_alloc() already has negative
@start checking (w/ WARN_ON_ONCE), so this can go away.
* drivers/infiniband/core/cm.c:cm_alloc_id()
drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx4/cm.c:id_map_alloc()
Used to wrap cyclic @start. Can be replaced with max(next, 0).
Note that this type of cyclic allocation using idr is buggy. These
are prone to spurious -ENOSPC failure after the first wraparound.
* fs/super.c:get_anon_bdev()
The ID allocated from ida is masked off before being tested whether
it's inside valid range. ida allocated ID can never be a negative
number and the masking is unnecessary.
Update idr_*() functions to fail with -EINVAL when negative @id is
specified and update other MAX_IDR_MASK users as described above.
This leaves MAX_IDR_MASK without any user, remove it and relocate
other MAX_IDR_* constants to lib/idr.c.

This patch addresses a v3.5+ regression in iscsi-target where TX thread
process context -> handle_response_queue() execution is allowed to run

This ends up preventing memory release of StatSN acknowledged commands
in a timely manner when under heavy large block streaming DATAIN

On many different chips, important aspects of the MAC state are not
fully cleared by a warm reset. This can show up as tx/rx hangs, those
annoying "DMA failed to stop in 10 ms..." messages or other quirks.
On AR933x, the chip can occasionally get stuck in a way that only a
driver unload/reload or a reboot would bring it back to life.
With this patch, a full reset is issued when bringing the chip out of
FULL-SLEEP state (after idle), or if either Rx or Tx was not shut down
properly. This makes the DMA related error messages disappear completely
in my tests on AR933x, and the chip does not get stuck anymore.

When taking an address of an extern array, gcc quite naturally should be
able to say "an address of an object can never be NULL" and just
optimize away the test entirely.
However, the new alternate sysrq reset code (commit 154b7a489a5b:
"Input: sysrq - allow specifying alternate reset sequence") did exactly
that, and declared platform_sysrq_reset_seq[] as a weak array, and
expecting that testing the address of the array would show whether it
actually got linked against something or not.
And that doesn't work with all gcc versions. Clearly it works with
*some* versions of gcc, and maybe it's even supposed to work, but it
really is a very fragile concept.
So instead of testing the address of the weak variable, just create a
weak instance of that array that is empty. If some platform then has a
real platform_sysrq_reset_seq[] that overrides our weak one, the linker
will switch to that one, and it all works without any run-time
conditionals at all.

All drivers which implement this need to have some sort of refcount to
allow concurrent vmap usage. Hence implement this in the dma-buf core.
To protect against concurrent calls we need a lock, which potentially
causes new funny locking inversions. But this shouldn't be a problem
for exporters with statically allocated backing storage, and more
dynamic drivers have decent issues already anyway.
Inspired by some refactoring patches from Aaron Plattner, who
implemented the same idea, but only for drm/prime drivers.
v2: Check in dma_buf_release that no dangling vmaps are left.
Suggested by Aaron Plattner. We might want to do similar checks for
attachments, but that's for another patch. Also fix up ERR_PTR return
for vmap.
v3: Check whether the passed-in vmap address matches with the cached
one for vunmap. Eventually we might want to remove that parameter -
compared to the kmap functions there's no need for the vaddr for
unmapping. Suggested by Chris Wilson.

Some fixes that should go into 3.9:
1. Fix packet corruption when using non-coherent RX DMA buffers.
2. Fix occasional watchdog misfiring when changing MTU or ring size.
These are longstanding bugs and should be fixed in stable as well, but
I'd like to review other recent fixes first and send a separate request
for stable inclusion.

This patch (as1649) reverts commit
55bcdce8a8 (USB: EHCI: remove ASS/PSS
polling timeout). That commit was written under the assumption that
some controllers may take a very long time to turn off their async and
periodic schedules. It now appears that in fact the schedules do get
turned off reasonably quickly, but some controllers occasionally leave
the schedules' status bits turned on and consequently ehci-hcd can't
tell that the schedules are off.
VIA controllers in particular have this problem. ehci-hcd tells the
hardware to turn off the async schedule, the schedule does get turned
off, but the status bit remains on. Since the EHCI spec requires that
the schedules not be re-enabled until the previous disable has taken
effect, with an unlimited timeout the async schedule never gets turned
back on. The resulting symptom is that the system is unable to
communicate with USB devices.

When stations are removed while packets are in the queue,
we drain the queues first, and then remove the stations.
If this happens in AP mode while the interface is removed
the MAC context might be removed from the firmware before
we removed the station(s), resulting in a SYSASSERT 3421.
This is because we remove the MAC context from the FW in
stop_ap(), but only flush the station drain work later in
remove_interface().
Refactor the code a bit to have a common MAC context
removal preparation first to solve this.

The FH hardware will always write back to the scratch field
in commands, even host commands not just TX commands, which
can overwrite parts of the command. This is problematic if
the command is re-used (with IWL_HCMD_DFL_NOCOPY) and can
cause calibration issues.
Address this problem by always putting at least the first
16 bytes into the buffer we also use for the command header
and therefore make the DMA engine write back into this.
For commands that are smaller than 16 bytes also always map
enough memory for the DMA engine to write back to.

A new driver has been added to support the PWM mode of the timer counter
blocks found on Atmel AT91 SoCs. The VT8500 driver now supports changing
the PWM signal polarity and the TI drivers (EHRPWM and ECAP) gained
suspend and resume functionality.
User drivers can now query the core for whether access to a PWM device
will sleep (if the PWM chip is on a slow bus such as I2C or SPI).
The pwm-backlight driver now handles the backlight BL_CORE_FBBLANK state
in addition to the FB layer's blanking states.
To round things off, a few fixes and cleanups are also included.

We must only ever stop TX queues when they are full or the net device
is not 'ready' so far as the net core, and specifically the watchdog,
is concerned. Otherwise, the watchdog may fire *immediately* if no
packets have been added to the queue in the last 5 seconds.
The device is ready if all the following are true:
(a) It has a qdisc
(b) It is marked present
(c) It is running
(d) The link is reported up
(a) and (c) are normally true, and must not be changed by a driver.
(d) is under our control, but fake link changes may disturb userland.
This leaves (b). We already mark the device absent during reset
and self-test, but we need to do the same during MTU changes and ring
reallocation. We don't need to do this when the device is brought
down because then (c) is already false.

We assume that the mapping between DMA and virtual addresses is done
on whole pages, so we can find the page offset of an RX buffer using
the lower bits of the DMA address. However, swiotlb maps in units of
2K, breaking this assumption.
Add an explicit page_offset field to struct efx_rx_buffer.
