Chris Wilson 10e36489ab drm/i915/execlists: Always clear pending&inflight requests on reset
If we skip the reset as we found the engine inactive at the time of the
reset, we still need to clear the residual inflight & pending request
bookkeeping to reflect the current state of HW.

Otherwise, we may end up stuck in a loop like:

Michel Thierry a7a7a0e6eb drm/i915/tgl: Tigerlake only has global MOCS registers
Until Icelake, each engine had its own set of 64 MOCS registers. In
order to simplify, Tigerlake moves to only 64 Global MOCS registers,
which are no longer part of the engine context. Since these registers
are now global, they also only need to be initialized once.

>From Gen12 onwards, MOCS must specify the target cache (3:2) and LRU
management (5:4) fields and cannot be programmed to 'use the value from
Private PAT', because these fields are no longer part of the PPAT. Also
cacheability control (1:0) field has changed, 00 no longer means 'use
controls from page table', but uncacheable (UC).

      old ones overlap with the range used by the new global MOCS

Tomasz Lis 2ddf992179 drm/i915/tgl: Define MOCS entries for Tigerlake
The MOCS table is published as part of bspec, and versioned. Entries
are supposed to never be modified, but new ones can be added. Adding
entries increases table version. The patch includes version 1 entries.

Two of the 3 legacy entries used for gen9 are no longer expected to work.
Although we are changing the gen11 table, those changes are supposed to
be backward compatible since we are only touching previously undefined
entries.

v2: Add the missing entries in 49-51 range and replace "HW reserved"
    terminology to what it actually is: L1 is implicitly enabled
    (from Daniele)
v3: Use a different table for Tiger Lake since entries 0 and 1 are not
    the same (from Daniele)

Daniele Ceraolo Spurio 63064d822c drm/i915/uc: Move uC WOPCM setup in uc_init_hw
The register we write are not WOPCM regs but uC ones related to how
GuC and HuC are going to use the WOPCM, so it makes logical sense
for them to be programmed as part of uc_init_hw. The WOPCM map on the
other side is not uC-specific (although that is our main use-case), so
keep that separate.

Daniele Ceraolo Spurio 602776f96b drm/i915/uc: Don't enable communication twice on resume
When coming out of S3/S4 we sanitize and re-init the HW, which includes
enabling communication during uc_init_hw. We therefore don't want to do
that again in uc_resume and can just tell GuC to reload its state.

Chris Wilson f277bc0c98 drm/i915/selftests: Pass intel_context to igt_spinner
Teach igt_spinner to only use our internal structs, decoupling the
interface from the GEM contexts. This makes it easier to avoid
requiring ce->gem_context back references for kernel_context that may
have them in future.

Chris Wilson cb0c43f30c drm/i915: Avoid ce->gem_context->i915
My plan for the future is to have kernel contexts not to have a GEM
context backpointer (as they will not belong to any GEM context). In a
few places, we use ce->gem_context to simply obtain the i915 backpointer,
for which we can use ce->engine->i915 instead.

José Roberto de Souza 48ef15d32a drm/i915/tgl: Update north display hotplug detection to TGL connections
TGL has 3 combophys and 6 TC/TBT ports, so it has 2 more TC/TBT ports
than ICL and the PORT_C on TGL is a combophy.
So here adding a new hpd north table and function to detect long
pulse for TGL.

Lucas De Marchi 52dfdba0a9 drm/i915/tgl: Add hpd interrupt handling
Add hotdplug detection for all ports on TGP. icp_hpd_detection_setup()
is refactored to be shared with TGP.

While we increase the number of pins, add a BUILD_BUG_ON() to avoid
going over the number of bits allowed.

Chris Wilson f5d974f9d2 drm/i915/gt: Provide a local intel_context.vm
Track the currently bound address space used by the HW context. Minor
conversions to use the local intel_context.vm are made, leaving behind
some more surgery required to make intel_context the primary through the
selftests.

Chris Wilson a562772166 drm/i915: Inline engine->init_context into its caller
We only use the init_context vfunc once while recording the default
context state, and we use the same sequence in each backend (eliding
steps that do not apply). Remove the vfunc for simplicity and
de-duplication.

Jani Nikula 1032a2af93 drm/i915: use upstream version of header tests

Chris Wilson 340c4c8daa drm/i915/gt: Add to timeline requires the timeline mutex
Modifying a remote context requires careful serialisation with requests
on that context, and that serialisation requires us to take their
timeline->mutex. Make it so.

Note that while struct_mutex rules, we can't create more than one
request in parallel, but that age is soon coming to an end.

timelines so check if we already hold the right mutex.

Chris Wilson 79c7a28e1f drm/i915: Capture vma contents outside of spinlock
Currently we use the engine->active.lock to ensure that the request is
not retired as we capture the data. However, we only need to ensure that
the vma are not removed prior to use acquiring their contents, and
since we have already relinquished our stop-machine protection, we
assume that the user will not be overwriting the contents before we are
able to record them.

In order to capture the vma outside of the spinlock, we acquire a
reference and mark the vma as active to prevent it from being unbound.
However, since it is tricky allocate an entry in the fence tree (doing
so would require taking a mutex) while inside the engine spinlock, we
use an atomic bit and special case the handling for i915_active_wait.

The core benefit is that we can use some non-atomic methods for mapping
the device pages, we can remove the slow compression phase out of atomic
context (i.e. stop antagonising the nmi-watchdog), and no we longer need
large reserves of atomic pages.

Daniele Ceraolo Spurio 8d5682f662 drm/i915/uc: Unify uC firmware upload
The way we load the firmwares is the same for both GuC and HuC, the only
difference is in the wopcm destination address and the dma flags, so we
easily can move the logic to a common function and pass in offset and
flags. The only other difference in the uplaod path are some the extra
steps that guc does before and after the xfer, but those don't require
the guc fw to be pinned in ggtt and can safely be performed before
calling the uc_upload function.

Note that this patch re-introduces the dma xfer wait for guc loading that
was removed with "drm/i915/guc: Propagate the fw xfer timeout". This is
not going to slow us down on a successful load (the dma has to complete
before fw init can start), but could slightly increase the timeout in case
of a fw init error.

Daniele Ceraolo Spurio 4ca8d2ef8d drm/i915/uc: Plumb the gt through fw_upload
The gt is our new central structure for uc-related code, so we can use
that instead of jumping back to i915 via the fw object. Since we have it
in the upload function it is easy to pass it through the lower levels of
the xfer process instead of continuosly jumping via uc_fw->uc->gt, which
will also make things a bit cleaner for the next patch.

Daniele Ceraolo Spurio 305ceebd52 drm/i915: Fix handling of non-supported uC
There are 2 issues around handling of missing uC support:

- We treat lack of uC HW and lack of uC FW definition as 2 different
  cases, but both of them mean that we don't support the uC on the
  platform we're running on.

- We rely on the modparam to decide if we can take uC paths or not, but
  we don't sanitize it if it is set incorrectly on platform with no uC
  support.

To fix both of them, unify the 2 cases in a single one and sanitize the
modparam on invalid configuration (after printing an error message).
The log has been adapted as well, since the user doesn't care why we
don't support GuC/HuC (no HW or no FW), just that we do not. Developers
can easily find the answer based on the platform, so we can simplify the
log.

Correcting the modparam has been preferred over failing the load since
this is what we usually do for non-supported feature (e.g. the now gone
enable_ppgtt would fall back to the highest supported PPGTT mode if the
selected one was not available).

Note that this patch purposely doesn't change the behavior for platforms
that do have uC support, in which case we will still fail if enable_guc
is set and the firmware is not available on the system.

If the system is already idle, omit the GEM_TRACE saying we are about to

To identify the HDCP capability of the display connected to CI
systems, we need to add the hdcp capability probing in i915_display_info.

This will also help to populate the HDCP capability of the CI systems
to CI H/W logs maintained at https://intel-gfx-ci.01.org/hardware/.
It will facilitate to determine the kms_content_protection behavior on
a particular CI system.

Chris Wilson 3bdd4f8485 drm/i915: Rely on spinlock protection for GPU error capture
Trust that we now have adequate protection over the low level structures
via the engine->active.lock to allow ourselves to capture the GPU error
state without the heavy hammer of stop_machine(). Sadly this does mean
that we have to forgo some of the lesser used information (not derived
from the active state) that is not controlled by the active locks. This
includes the list of buffers in the ppGTT and pinned globally in the
GGTT. Originally this was used to manually verify relocations, but
hasn't been required for sometime and modern mesa now has the habit of
ensuring that all interesting buffers within a batch are captured in their
entirety (that are the auxiliary state buffers, but not the textures).

A useful side-effect is that this allows us to restore error capturing
for Braswell and Broxton.

Chris Wilson f3bcb0cccd drm/i915: Remove obsolete engine cleanup
Remove the outer layer cleanup of engine stubs; as i915_drv itself no
longer tries to preallocate and so is not responsible for either the
allocation or free. By the time we call the cleanup function, we already
have cleaned up the engines.

the error cleanup. engine->destroy() is a compound function that is
called earlier in the normal release as it ties together other bits of
state.

Tvrtko Ursulin 6c2b0103ad drm/i915: Fix and improve MCR selection logic
A couple issues were present in this code:

1.
fls() usage was incorrect causing off by one in subslice mask lookup,
which in other words means subslice mask of all zeroes is always used
(subslice mask of a slice which is not present, or even out of bounds
array access), rendering the checks in wa_init_mcr either futile or
random.

2.
Condition in WARN_ON was not correct. It is doing a bitwise and operation
between a positive (present subslices) and negative mask (disabled L3
banks).

This means that with corrected fls() usage the assert would always
incorrectly fail.

We could fix this by inverting the fuse bits in the check, but instead do
one better and improve the code so it not only asserts, but finds the
first common index between the two masks and only warns if no such index
can be found.

   assert is really trying to check and why.

Tvrtko Ursulin 7405cb77e0 drm/i915: Trust programmed MCR in read_subslice_reg
Instead of re-calculating the MCR selector in read_subslice_reg do the
rwm on its existing value and restore it when done.

This consolidates MCR programming to one place for cnl+, and avoids
re-calculating its default value on older platforms during hangcheck.

Tvrtko Ursulin 15160879d4 drm/i915: Fix GEN8_MCR_SELECTOR programming
fls returns bit positions starting from one for the lsb and the MCR
register expects zero based (sub)slice addressing.

Incorrent MCR programming can have the effect of directing MMIO reads of
registers in the 0xb100-0xb3ff range to invalid subslice returning zeroes
instead of actual content.

Chris Wilson 7d6b60dbc6 drm/i915/execlists: Cancel breadcrumb on preempting the virtual engine
As we unwind the requests for a preemption event, we return a virtual
request back to its original virtual engine (so that it is available for
execution on any of its siblings). In the process, this means that its
breadcrumb should no longer be associated with the original physical
engine, and so we are forced to decouple it. Previously, as the request
could not complete without our awareness, we would move it to the next
real engine without any danger. However, preempt-to-busy allowed for
requests to continue on the HW and complete in the background as we
unwound, which meant that we could end up retiring the request before
fixing up the breadcrumb link.

Yongxin Liu 09b90e2fe3 drm/nouveau: fix memory leak in nouveau_conn_reset()
In nouveau_conn_reset(), if connector->state is true,
__drm_atomic_helper_connector_destroy_state() will be called,
but the memory pointed by asyc isn't freed. Memory leak happens
in the following function __drm_atomic_helper_connector_reset(),
where newly allocated asyc->state will be assigned to connector->state.

So using nouveau_conn_atomic_destroy_state() instead of
__drm_atomic_helper_connector_destroy_state to free the "old" asyc.

Lyude Paul 7cb95eeea6 drm/nouveau/i2c: Enable i2c pads & busses during preinit
It turns out that while disabling i2c bus access from software when the
GPU is suspended was a step in the right direction with:

commit 342406e4fb ("drm/nouveau/i2c: Disable i2c bus access after
->fini()")

We also ended up accidentally breaking the vbios init scripts on some
older Tesla GPUs, as apparently said scripts can actually use the i2c
bus. Since these scripts are executed before initializing any
subdevices, we end up failing to acquire access to the i2c bus which has
left a number of cards with their fan controllers uninitialized. Luckily
this doesn't break hardware - it just means the fan gets stuck at 100%.

This also means that we've always been using our i2c busses before
initializing them during the init scripts for older GPUs, we just didn't
notice it until we started preventing them from being used until init.
It's pretty impressive this never caused us any issues before!

So, fix this by initializing our i2c pad and busses during subdev
pre-init. We skip initializing aux busses during pre-init, as those are
guaranteed to only ever be used by nouveau for DP aux transactions.

Ilia Mirkin f8d6211ac7 drm/nouveau/disp/nv50-: force scaler for any non-default LVDS/eDP modes
Higher layers tend to add a lot of modes not actually in the EDID, such
as the standard DMT modes. Changing this would be extremely intrusive to
everyone, so just force the scaler more often. There are no practical
cases we're aware of where a LVDS/eDP panel has multiple resolutions
exposed, and i915 already does it this way.

Matteo Croce eec4844fae proc/sysctl: add shared variables for range check
In the sysctl code the proc_dointvec_minmax() function is often used to
validate the user supplied value between an allowed range.  This
function uses the extra1 and extra2 members from struct ctl_table as
minimum and maximum allowed value.

On sysctl handler declaration, in every source file there are some
readonly variables containing just an integer which address is assigned
to the extra1 and extra2 members, so the sysctl range is enforced.

The special values 0, 1 and INT_MAX are very often used as range
boundary, leading duplication of variables like zero=0, one=1,
int_max=INT_MAX in different source files:

Add a const int array containing the most commonly used values, some
macros to refer more easily to the correct array member, and use them
instead of creating a local one for every object file.

Dhinakaran Pandiyan b5ea9c9337 drm/i915/vbt: Fix VBT parsing for the PSR section
A single 32-bit PSR2 training pattern field follows the sixteen element
array of PSR table entries in the VBT spec. But, we incorrectly define
this PSR2 field for each of the PSR table entries. As a result, the PSR1
training pattern duration for any panel_type != 0 will be parsed
incorrectly. Secondly, PSR2 training pattern durations for VBTs with bdb
version >= 226 will also be wrong.

hersen wu 41a5a2a853 drm/amd/display: init res_pool dccg_ref, dchub_ref with xtalin_freq
[WHY] dc sw clock implementation of navi10 and raven are not exact the
same. dcccg, dchub reference clock initialization is done after dc calls
vbios dispcontroller_init table. for raven family, before
dispcontroller_init is called by dc, the ref clk values are referred
by sw clock implementation and program asic register using wrong
values. this causes dchub pstate error. This need provide valid ref
clk values. for navi10, since dispcontroller_init is not called,
dchubbub_global_timer_enable = 0, hubbub2_get_dchub_ref_freq will
hit aeert. this need remove hubbub2_get_dchub_ref_freq from this
location and move to dcn20_init_hw.

[HOW] for all asic, initialize dccg, dchub ref clk with data from
vbios firmware table by default. for raven asic family, use these data
from vbios, for asic which support sw dccg component, like navi10,
read ref clk by sw dccg functions and update the ref clk.

Nicholas Kazlauskas 02316e963a drm/amd/display: Force uclk to max for every state
Workaround for now to avoid underflow.

The uclk switch time should really be bumped up to 404, but doing so
would expose p-state hang issues for higher bandwidth display
configurations.

Chris Wilson bdae33b8b8 drm/i915: Use maximum write flush for pwrite_gtt
As recently disovered by forcing big-core (!llc) machines to use the GTT
paths, we need our full GTT write flush before manipulating the GTT PTE
or else the writes may be directed to the wrong page.

Ville Syrjälä bffb31f73b drm/i915: Make sure cdclk is high enough for DP audio on VLV/CHV
On VLV/CHV there is some kind of linkage between the cdclk frequency
and the DP link frequency. The spec says:
"For DP audio configuration, cdclk frequency shall be set to
 meet the following requirements:
 DP Link Frequency(MHz) | Cdclk frequency(MHz)
 270                    | 320 or higher
 162                    | 200 or higher"

I suspect that would more accurately be expressed as
"cdclk >= DP link clock", and in any case we can express it like
that in the code because of the limited set of cdclk (200, 266,
320, 400 MHz) and link frequencies (162 and 270 MHz) we support.

Without this we can end up in a situation where the cdclk
is too low and enabling DP audio will kill the pipe. Happens
eg. with 2560x1440 modes where the 266MHz cdclk is sufficient
to pump the pixels (241.5 MHz dotclock) but is too low for
the DP audio due to the link frequency being 270 MHz.
