To enable S24_LE format, sample_type in topology fw has to be set to 1.
But sample_type defined in topology firmware configuration is not
getting reflected in the dsp param. This patch sets sample_type in base
config so that the sample type defined in the topology firmware is reflected
in the dsp params. This issues was uncovered while debugging the S24_LE format
which require the MSB byte in 32 bit word to be skipped. Setting sample_type
in topology firmware to 1 helps to skip MSB byte word.

If playback and capture are enabled concurrently, when the capture stops
the output becomes inaudile. The playback application will become stuck
and underrun after a timeout.
This is caused by mistaken use of the stream_id, which should only be
set for playback and not for capture
Tested on Apollolake and Kabylake with SST driver.

Since the refactoring of HD-audio display power management, the
display power status is managed per domain. Meanwhile the ASoC
hdac_hdmi driver still keeps and relies (incorrectly) on the
refcounting together with ASoC skl driver, and this leads to the
display state always on.
This patch is an attempt to address the regression by simplifying the
PM code of ASoC skl and hdac_hdmi drivers. Basically, since the
refactoring, we don't have to manage the display power at HD-audio
controller suspend / resume but only at HD-audio HDMI codec suspend /
resume. So the patch drops the superfluous snd_hdac_display_power()
calls in skl driver.
Meanwhile, in hdac_hdmi side, we rewrite the PM call just to re-use
the runtime PM callbacks like other drivers do. Now the logic is
simple: turn off at suspend and turn on at resume.
The patch also fixes the possibly missing display-power off at skl
driver removal as well as some error paths at probe.

For HDaudio and Skylake drivers, add module parameter "pci_binding"
When pci_binding == 0 (AUTO), the PCI class/subclass info is used to
select drivers based on the presence of the DSP.
pci_binding == 1 (LEGACY) forces the use of the HDAudio legacy driver,
even if the DSP is present.
pci_binding == 2 (ASOC) forces the use of the ASOC driver. The
information on the DSP presence is bypassed.
The value for the module parameter needs to be identical for both
drivers. This parameter is intended as a back-up solution if the
automatic detection fails or when the DSP usage fails. Such cases
should be reported on the alsa-devel mailing list for analysis.

The current SKYLAKE kconfig is a all-you-can-eat selection that will
support all known plaforms. This is however not necessarily a good
thing: most platforms for SKL and KBL don't support the DSP, but a
number of CNL/WHL ones do. Selecting this driver in all cases isn't
really smart and will require users to muck with blacklists.
Partition the configs to allow distributions to select on which
platform this driver is used. Keep the existing SND_SOC_INTEL_SKYLAKE
config to select everything for backwards compatibility. This patch does
not provide new functionality, only finer-grained choices in supported
platforms.

Check immediately if required HDaudio capabilities can't be found (no
PPCAP or no streams exposed in GCAP), and move all DMA inits after the
error tests.
PPCAP and GCAP are not reliable indicators of DSP presence, but if
they don't exist then the driver will not work.

The existing PPCAP and GCAP fields cannot be used reliably to
determine if the DSP is enabled by the BIOS. Instead rely on the
class/subclass information to find out if this driver can run or
not. The values in the code don't seem to be documented in publicly
available documents but are part of recommendations made to BIOS
writers and have been verified to be accurate on a number of
platforms.

any error, hence it can be defined to return void.

The current HD-audio code manages the DRM audio power via too complex
redirections, and this seems even still unbalanced in a corner case as
Intel DRM CI has been intermittently reporting. This patch is a big
surgery for addressing the complexity and the possible unbalance.
Basically the patch changes the display PM in the following ways:
- Both HD-audio controller and codec drivers call a single helper,
snd_hdac_display_power(). (Formerly, the display power control from
a codec was done indirectly via link_power bus ops.)
- snd_hdac_display_power() receives the codec address index. For
turning on/off from the controller, pass HDA_CODEC_IDX_CONTROLLER.
- snd_hdac_display_power() doesn't manage refcounts any longer, but
keeps the power status in bitmap. If any of controller or codecs is
turned on, the function updates the DRM power state via get_power()
or put_power().
Also this refactor allows us more cleanup:
- The link_power bus ops is dropped, so there is no longer indirect
management, as mentioned in the above.
- hdac_device link_power_control flag is moved to hda_codec
display_power_control flag, as it's only for HDA legacy.

The changes for HDaudio overlooked the fact that the machine drivers
used for Chromebooks rely on the dmic number information passed as
pdata.
Add dmic_num field to standard interface and use standard interface
instead of SKL-specific one.
Also clean-up pdata definition to remove fields that are no longer
used.

The Skylake driver currently has a set of problems supporting
load/unload modules. We need to make the HDaudio codec support
optional to help narrow down the issues.
Support for HDaudio codecs also leads to a Kconfig issue. We want the
hdac_hda codec to be compilable independently of Skylake (e.g. with
ALL_CODECS) but when Skylake is selected as built-in the hdac_hda
codec needs to use the same option due a a code dependency
Solve both problems by adding a user-selectable boolean Kconfig,
select HDAC_HDA as needed and make the HDaudio codec support in the
Skylake driver optional. Tests on a Chell Chromebook device without
HDaudio show no regression for speaker and HDMI playback.
This is submitted as an RFC to allow for comments and more validation.

On certain platforms, Display HDMI HDA codec was not going to sleep state
after the use when links are powered down after turning off the display
power. As per the HW recommendation, links are powered down before turning
off the display power to ensure that the codec goes to sleep state.
This patch was updated from an earlier version submitted upstream [1]
which conflicted with the changes merged for HDaudio codec support
with the Intel DSP.

Don't rely on internal Skylake-specific data structures, use
generic interface to let other drivers use the same machine driver
as is, e.g. SOF to support HDaudio codecs and HDMI outputs.
Tested on LeafHill CRB board, no regression seen with this change.

Internally, skl_init_chip() calls snd_hdac_bus_init_chip() which
1) sets bus->chip_init to prevent multiple entrances before device
is stopped; 2) enables interrupt.
We shouldn't use it for the purpose of resetting device only because
1) when we really want to initialize device, we won't be able to do
so; 2) we are ready to handle interrupt yet, and kernel crashes when
interrupt comes in.
Rename azx_reset() to snd_hdac_bus_reset_link(), and use it to reset
device properly.

The patch doesn't fix accessing memory with null pointer in
skl_interrupt().
There are two problems: 1) skl_init_chip() is called twice, before
and after dma buffer is allocate. The first call sets bus->chip_init
which prevents the second from initializing bus->corb.buf and
rirb.buf from bus->rb.area. 2) snd_hdac_bus_init_chip() enables
interrupt before snd_hdac_bus_init_cmd_io() initializing dma buffers.
There is a small window which skl_interrupt() can be called if irq
has been acquired. If so, it crashes when using null dma buffer
pointers.
Will fix the problems in the following patches. Also attaching the
crash for future reference.

When no I2S based codec entries are found in the BIOS, check if there are
any HDA codecs detected on the bus. Based on the number of codecs found
take appropriate action in machine driver. If there are two HDA codecs
i.e. iDisp + HDA found on the bus, register DAIs and DAI links for both.
If only one codec i.e. iDisp is found then load only iDisp machine driver.

Add machine driver for Intel platforms (SKL/KBL/BXT/APL) with
HDA and iDisp codecs. This patch adds support for only iDisp (HDMI/DP)
codec. In the following patches support for HDA codecs will be added.
This should work for other Intel platforms as well e.g. GLK,CNL
however this series is not tested on all the platforms.

Cold reboot stress test found that the hda irq could access rirb ring
buffer before its memory gets allocated which resulting in null
pointer dereference inside snd_hdac_bus_update_rirb().
Fix it by moving the skl_acquire_irq after ring buffer allocation.
While here, also change err return from -EBUSY to actual error code.

Add extended ops in the hdac_bus to allow calling the ASoC HDAC library
ops to reuse the legacy HDA codec drivers with ASoC framework.
Extended ops are used by the legacy codec drivers to call into
hdac_hda library, in the subsequent patches..

Remove memory allocation within snd_hdac_ext_bus_device_init, to make
its behaviour identical to snd_hdac_bus_device_init. So that caller
can allocate the parent data structure containing hdac_device.
This API change helps in reusing the legacy HDA codec drivers with
ASoC platform drivers.

This patch removes the hdac_ext_bus structure. The legacy and
enhanced HDaudio capabilities can be handled in a backward-compatible
way without separate definitions.

pcm, link_config and dai_driver to clients. This allows clients to fully
instantiate and track topology objects.
The SOF driver is the first user of these new APIs and needs them to build
component topology driver and FW objects.

skl-tplg-interface.h describes firmware format details for Skylake
topology files. It is part of the ABI and should reside in the uapi
directory.
While moving the file, also replace the license boilerplate with
the SPDX License Identifier.

Commit dc31e741db ("ASoC: topology: ABI - Add the types for BE
DAI") introduced sound topology files version 5. Initially, this
change made the topology code incompatible with v4 topology files.
Backwards compatibility with v4 configuration files was
subsequently added with commit 288b8da7e9 ("ASoC: topology:
Support topology file of ABI v4").
Unfortunately, backwards compatibility was never fully implemented.
First, the manifest size in (Skylake) v4 configuration files is set
to 0, which causes manifest_new_ver() to bail out with error messages
similar to the following.

This message is seen because backwards compatibility for loading widgets
was never implemented.
The lack of audio support when running the upstream kernel on recent
Chromebooks has been reported in various forums, and can be traced back
to this problem. Attempts to fix the problem, usually by providing v5
configuration files, were only partially successful.
Let's implement backward compatibility properly to solve the problem
for good.

By default all the streams are mapped to all links after controller is
reset which causes stream to be broadcast on all the links.
This patch resets the stream-link mapping after controller reset. The
stream is mapped later to the appropriate link as part of stream setup.

Currently during destroy pipeline the gateway is disabled
before DMA completion. This leads to improper draining of
data and subsequently causing issues on HD-Audio DMA.
Hence added a new pipe reset IPC in skl_pcm_hw_free in
which the Gateway Enable(GEN bit) is reset to 0 after
DMA completion in skl_pcm_trigger.

In order to achieve better DMA performance and reduce download time for
firmware and library, it is recommended to disable dynamic clock and
power gating. In some scenarios, DMA may wait to accumulate more data and
last chunk of data never gets completed if dynamic clock and power
gating is kept enabled.
This patch adds support to disable/enable dynamic clock and power gating
and use it during firmware and library download.

Currently DMIC capture and WoV usecase uses same BE DAI but operate at
different sampling rates, this results in config mismatch for WoV when
DMIC is already running in parallel.
DMIC has two slots which can operate with some constraints, so add BE
DAI for DMICvoice pin which can used for WoV usecases to capture 4ch,
16KHz, 16bit data.

For certain platforms, it is required to start the clocks (mclk/sclk/fs)
before the stream start. Example: for few chrome systems, codec needs the
mclk/sclk to be enabled early for a successful clock synchronization and
for few IVI platforms, clock need to be enabled at boot and should be ON
always.
Add the required structures and create set_dma_control ipc to enable or
disable the clock. To enable sclk without fs, mclk ipc structure is used,
else sclkfs ipc structure is used.
Clock prepare/unprepare are used to enable/disable the clock as the IPC
will be sent in non-atomic context. The clk set_dma_control IPC
structures are populated during the set_rate callback and IPC is sent
to enable the clock during prepare callback.
This patch creates virtual clock driver, which allows the machine driver
to use the clock interface to send IPCs to DSP to enable/disable the
clocks.

Platform registration happens in probe work handler whereas machine
device is registered during skl_probe. This sometimes results in cpu
dais not found if the work handler is sufficiently delayed due to system
load, even with deferred probe of machine driver.
So move machine device registration after registering platform.

Sometimes during boot, panic is observed at sst_dsp_shim_read_unlocked().
This happens when interrupt occurs before the context is initialized. So
move the irq initialization only after the context is initialized
completely.

A-State table is a power management table which allows the driver to
configure the DSP clock source corresponding to various load thresholds.
The table contains upto 3 A-State entries. The patch adds and parses the

When NHLT endpoint is present for a SSP then we create clock for that SSP.
MCLK is consistent across endpoints and configuration for an SSP, so query
only for first endpoint for an SSP.
For SCLK/SCLKFS, the best fit is queried from the NHLT configurations which
matches the clock rate requested. Best fit is decided based on below:
1. If rate matches with multiple configurations, then the first
configuration is selected.
2. If for a selected fs and bits_per_sample, there are multiple endpoint
configuration match, then the configuration with max number of
channels is selected. So, the user has to set the rate which fits
max number of channels
So we create a platform device and pass clock information parsed as
platform data.

Module id is a property of firmware manifest and can vary between
platforms so use the uuid instead of module id for pins.

Modify skl_tplg_get_uuid() to copy just UUID rather than only
for module UUID and skl_tplg_fill_pin() to fill the pin info
which can include UUID token also.

In certain buggy BIOS acpi_evaluate_dsm() may not return the correct
NHLT table, so check the NHLT table header signature before accessing
it.

In the loop that adds the uuid_module to the uuid_list list, allocated
memory is not properly freed in the error path free uuid_list whenever
any of the memory allocation in the loop fails to avoid memory leak.

DSP expects length of the coefficient for updown mixer module to be 8.
So fix the max coefficient length and since we are using default values
for coefficient select which is zero, we need not explicitly initialize
it.

When CONFIG_SND_SOC_HDAC_HDMI is disabled, we can run into an
uninitialized variable:

I have run into this on today's linux-next kernel, but it appears
that this is an older problem that was just hard to trigger
with randconfig builds as CONFIG_SND_SOC_HDAC_HDMI would in
effect be impossible to disable when having SND_SOC_INTEL_SKYLAKE
enabled.
