Linus Torvalds dba538ff56 Merge branch 'x86-intel-mid-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip
Pull x86/intel-mid changes from Ingo Molnar:
"Update the 'intel mid' (mobile internet device) platform code as Intel
is rolling out more SoC designs.

This gets rid of most of the 'MRST' platform code in the process,
mostly by renaming and shuffling code around into their respective
  'intel-mid' platform drivers"

* 'x86-intel-mid-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip:
x86, intel-mid: Do not re-introduce usage of obsolete __cpuinit

Linus Torvalds 69019d77c7 Merge branch 'x86-efi-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip
Pull x86 EFI changes from Ingo Molnar:
 "Main changes:

   - Add support for earlyprintk=efi which uses the EFI framebuffer.
Very useful for debugging boot problems.

   - EFI stub support for large memory maps (more than 128 entries)

   - EFI ARM support - this was mostly done by generalizing x86 <-> ARM
platform differences, such as by moving x86 EFI code into
drivers/firmware/efi/ and sharing it with ARM.

   - Documentation updates

   - misc fixes"

Peter Zijlstra e5137b50a0 ftrace, sched: Add TRACE_FLAG_PREEMPT_RESCHED
Since the introduction of PREEMPT_NEED_RESCHED in:

  f27dde8dee ("sched: Add NEED_RESCHED to the preempt_count")

we need to be able to look at both TIF_NEED_RESCHED and
PREEMPT_NEED_RESCHED to understand the full preemption behaviour.

Add it to the trace output.

Linus Torvalds f9efbce633 ARM: SoC DT updates for 3.13
Most of this branch consists of updates, additions and general churn of
the device tree source files in the kernel (arch/arm/boot/dts). Besides
that, there are a few things to point out:

 - Lots of platform conversion on OMAP2+, with removal of old board files
   for various platforms.
 - Final conversion of a bunch of ux500 (ST-Ericsson) platforms as well
 - Some updates to pinctrl and other subsystems. Most of these are for
DT-enablement of the various platforms and acks have been collected.

New and updated SoC support. Among the things new for this release are:

 - More support for the AM33xx platforms from TI
 - Tegra 124 support, and some updates to older tegra families as well
 - imx cleanups and updates across the board
 - A rename of Broadcom's Mobile platforms which were introduced as ARCH_BCM,

 - A whole bunch of updates and fixes for integrator, making the platform code
more modern and switches over to DT-only booting.
 - Support for two new Renesas shmobile chipsets. Next up for them is more work
on consolidation instead of introduction of new non-multiplatform SoCs, we're

Pull s390 updates from Martin Schwidefsky:
"The bulk of the patches for the 3.13 merge window.

Heiko spent quite a bit of work to improve the code generation for the
kernel. That includes the exploitation of the interlocked-access
facility for the atomics and bitops implementation and the improvement
for the -march and -mtune compiler settings.

Another important change is the removal of the user_mode=home option,
user processes now always run in primary space. The storage keys are
not initialized at system startup any more, with that the storage key
removal work is complete. For the PCI support the hibernation hooks

Linus Torvalds 0b1e73ed22 Staging driver update for 3.13-rc1
Here's the big drivers/staging/ update for 3.13-rc1.

Nothing major here, just a _ton_ of fixes and cleanups, mostly driven by
the new round of OPW applicants, but also there are lots of other people
doing staging tree cleanups these days in order to help get the drivers
 into mergable shape.

We also merge, and then revert, the ktap code, as Ingo and the other
perf/ftrace developers feel it should go into the "real" part of the
kernel with only a bit more work, so no need to put it in staging for
 now.

All of this has been in linux-next for a while with no reported issues.

Trond Myklebust c698dbf9fe Merge branch 'fscache' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-fs into linux-next
Pull fs-cache fixes from David Howells:

Can you pull these commits to fix an issue with NFS whereby caching can be
enabled on a file that is open for writing by subsequently opening it for
reading. This can be made to crash by opening it for writing again if you're
quick enough.

The gist of the patchset is that the cookie should be acquired at inode
creation only and subsequently enabled and disabled as appropriate (which
dispenses with the backing objects when they're not needed).

The extra synchronisation that NFS does can then be dispensed with as it is
thenceforth managed by FS-Cache.

Could you send these on to Linus?

This likely will need fixing also in CIFS and 9P also once the FS-Cache
changes are upstream. AFS and Ceph are probably safe.

* 'fscache' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-fs:
NFS: Use i_writecount to control whether to get an fscache cookie in nfs_open()
FS-Cache: Provide the ability to enable/disable cookies
  FS-Cache: Add use/unuse/wake cookie wrappers

Matt Fleming 72548e836b x86/efi: Add EFI framebuffer earlyprintk support
It's incredibly difficult to diagnose early EFI boot issues without
special hardware because earlyprintk=vga doesn't work on EFI systems.

Add support for writing to the EFI framebuffer, via earlyprintk=efi,
which will actually give users a chance of providing debug output.

Greg Kroah-Hartman 5328f35b15 usb: patches for v3.13
Final conversions to configfs for mass storage, acm_ms, and

We can now enable VERBOSE_DEBUG on builds of drivers/usb/gadget/

a few new tricks (isochronous transfers, multi count support).

The Marvel USB3 Controller driver got a memory leak fix.

usb: patches for v3.13

Final conversions to configfs for mass storage, acm_ms, and
multi gadgets.

MUSB should now work out of the box on AM335x-based boards
(beagle bone white and black) with DMA thanks to Sebastian's
work.

We can now enable VERBOSE_DEBUG on builds of drivers/usb/gadget/
by selecting CONFIG_USB_GADGET_VERBOSE.

s3c-hsotg got quite a few non-critical fixes but also learned
a few new tricks (isochronous transfers, multi count support).

The Marvel USB3 Controller driver got a memory leak fix.

devm_usb_get_phy() learned not to return NULL, ever.

Other than these patches, we have the usual set of cleanups
ranging from removal of unnecessary *_set_drvdata() to using
SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS.

Mark Rutland 4fcd6e1416 Docs: arm64: booting: clarify boot requirements
There are a few points in the arm64 booting document which are unclear
(such as the initial state of secondary CPUs), and/or have not been
documented (PSCI is a supported mechanism for booting secondary CPUs).

This patch amends the arm64 boot document to better express the
(existing) requirements, and to describe PSCI as a supported booting
mechanism.
