The saa6588_ioctl() function expects to get called from other kernel
functions with a 'saa6588_command' pointer, but I found nothing stops it
from getting called from user space instead, which seems rather dangerous.
The same thing happens in the davinci vpbe driver with its VENC_GET_FLD
command.
As a quick fix, add a separate .command() callback pointer for this
driver and change the two callers over to that. This change can easily
get backported to stable kernels if necessary, but since there are only
two drivers, we may want to eventually replace this with a set of more
specialized callbacks in the long run.

We have 'struct v4l2_subdev_pad_config' which contains configuration for
a single pad used for the TRY functionality, and an array of those
structs is passed to various v4l2_subdev_pad_ops.
I was working on subdev internal routing between pads, and realized that
there's no way to add TRY functionality for routes, which is not pad
specific configuration. Adding a separate struct for try-route config
wouldn't work either, as e.g. set-fmt needs to know the try-route
configuration to propagate the settings.
This patch adds a new struct, 'struct v4l2_subdev_state' (which at the
moment only contains the v4l2_subdev_pad_config array) and the new
struct is used in most of the places where v4l2_subdev_pad_config was
used. All v4l2_subdev_pad_ops functions taking v4l2_subdev_pad_config
are changed to instead take v4l2_subdev_state.
The changes to drivers/media/v4l2-core/v4l2-subdev.c and
include/media/v4l2-subdev.h were written by hand, and all the driver
changes were done with the semantic patch below. The spatch needs to be
applied to a select list of directories. I used the following shell
commands to apply the spatch:
dirs="drivers/media/i2c drivers/media/platform drivers/media/usb drivers/media/test-drivers/vimc drivers/media/pci drivers/staging/media"
for dir in $dirs; do spatch -j8 --dir --include-headers --no-show-diff --in-place --sp-file v4l2-subdev-state.cocci $dir; done
Note that Coccinelle chokes on a few drivers (gcc extensions?). With
minor changes we can make Coccinelle run fine, and these changes can be
reverted after spatch. The diff for these changes is:

The adv7842 driver didn't support EDIDs of 3 or 4 blocks, even though the
hardware supports this.
It is a bit more complicated due to the fact that the adv7842 can expose
two EDIDs: one digital, one analog, for DVI-I connectors. In that case the
VGA_EDID_ENABLE bit is set and blocks 0 and 1 of the EDID eeprom are used
for the DVI-D part and block 2 is used for the DVI-A part of the DVI-I
connector.

The V4L2 async framework is generally used with the V4L2 fwnode, which
also depends on the former. There are a few exceptions but they are
relatively few.
At the same time there is a vast number of systems that need videodev
module, but have no use for v4l2-async that's now part of videodev.
In order to improve, split the v4l2-async into its own module. Selecting
V4L2_FWNODE also selects V4L2_ASYNC.
This also moves the initialisation of the debufs entries for async subdevs
to loading of the v4l2-async module. The directory is named as
"v4l2-async".

The PM runtime get logic is currently broken, as it checks if
ret is zero instead of checking if it is an error code,
as reported by Dan Carpenter.
While here, use the pm_runtime_resume_and_get() as added by:
commit dd8088d5a8 ("PM: runtime: Add pm_runtime_resume_and_get to deal with usage counter")
added pm_runtime_resume_and_get() in order to automatically handle
dev->power.usage_count decrement on errors. As a bonus, such function
always return zero on success.
It should also be noticed that a fail of pm_runtime_get_sync() would
potentially result in a spurious runtime_suspend(), instead of
using pm_runtime_put_noidle().

The pm_runtime_get_sync() internally increments the
dev->power.usage_count without decrementing it, even on errors.
There is a bug at ccs_pm_get_init(): when this function returns
an error, the stream is not started, and RPM usage_count
should not be incremented. However, if the calls to
v4l2_ctrl_handler_setup() return errors, it will be kept
incremented.
At ccs_suspend() the best is to replace it by the new
pm_runtime_resume_and_get(), introduced by:
commit dd8088d5a8 ("PM: runtime: Add pm_runtime_resume_and_get to deal with usage counter")
in order to properly decrement the usage counter automatically,
in the case of errors.

This driver's remove path calls cancel_delayed_work(). However, that
function does not wait until the work function finishes. This means
that the callback function may still be running after the driver's

Fix by calling cancel_delayed_work_sync(), which ensures that

for EDIDs that do not have a Source Physical Address: in that case the

'physical address' is just the two bytes at that location. This is per

The pointer to 'struct v4l2_subdev' is stored in drvdata via
v4l2_i2c_subdev_init() so there is no point of a dance like:
struct i2c_client *client = to_i2c_client(struct device *dev)

The functions that add an async subdev to an async subdev notifier take
as an argument the size of the container structure they need to
allocate. This is error prone, as passing an invalid size will not be
caught by the compiler. Wrap those functions in macros that take a
container type instead of a size, and cast the returned pointer to the
desired type. The compiler will catch mistakes if the incorrect type is
passed to the macro, as the assignment types won't match.

Drivers are instead encouraged to use a helper such as

This fixes a misuse of the API, as v4l2_async_notifier_add_subdev

GCC with W=2 level of kernel compiler warnings warns about the use of
uninitialised variables in a few locations. While these uninitialised
variables were not used in reality, this still produced compiler warnings.
Address this by assigning the variables to NULL and checking for NULL in
places it is not expected, returning -EIO in that case. This provides
at least some sanity checking at runtime as the compiler appears unable to

CCS supports three variants of PHY timing control, auto, UI based and
manual. The driver previously assumed UI based control that requires
updating the link rate to the sensor. Now default to automatic control
instead, and only write the link rate to the sensor in UI mode.
If neither auto or UI control is supported, return an error in probe.

The driver depends on the external clock frequency. Add a sanity check for
the frequency, by returning an error from probe if it's zero.

A CCS compliant device requires a delay before the first I²C transaction
after pulling xshutdown up or starting the external clock. This is what
the driver does. However, if neither is actually there, there's no need
for the delay.
This also has the effect of removing an unnecessary delay on ACPI systems
where ACPI is responsible for the power-up sequence.

enough.

The driver always used software reset after the sensor's power sequence
that includes a hardware reset if we have a reset GPIO. Do not use
software reset if we just brought the sensor up from hardware reset state.

Also print out MSR registers written to the sensor. This isn't entirely
optimal as the debug strings are produced even if they're not used but
that isn't really a grave issue --- the I²C bus is very slow anyway.

The OV8865 is a 8 Mpx CMOS image sensor producing 3264x2448 at 30 fps.
Other modes (including some with sub-sampling) are available too.
It outputs 10-bit bayer CFA data through a MIPI CSI-2 interface with
up to 4 lanes supported.
Some register initialisation sequences are still needed for this driver,
as they cover registers for which no documentation is available.
This work is based on the first version of the driver submitted by
Kévin L'hôpital, which was adapted to mainline from the Allwinner BSP.
This version is a rewrite of the first version that matches the structure
of the OV5648 driver, with explicit PLL configuration, all the necessary
mode-specific fields, associatied registers and reduced static sequences.
It was tested with the Banana Pi Camera Board v3 and the Banana Pi M3.

The OV5648 is a 5 Mpx CMOS image sensor, connected via MIPI CSI-2
in a one or two lane configuration.
Most of the features of the hardware are supported, including:
- Auto and manual exposition/gain
- Auto and manual white balance
- Horizontal and vertical flip
- Test patterns
But the following are still missing:
- Debanding, based on power source frequency;
- Exposition setting correlated to time units.

The driver currently reports a single supported value for
V4L2_CID_PIXEL_RATE and initializes the control's minimum value to 0,
which is very risky, as userspace might accidentally use it as divider
when calculating the time duration of a line.
Fix this by using as minimum the only supported value when registering
the control.
