usb_autopm_get_interface() that is called in synusb_open() does an
autoresume if the device is suspended.
input_dev->mutex used in synusb_resume() is in this case already
taken by the input subsystem and will cause a deadlock.

This reverts commit 4828296982 which
caused the following issues:
1. On T460p with BIOS version 2.22 touchpad and trackpoint stop working
after suspend-resume cycle. Due to strange state of the device another
suspend is impossible.
The following dmesg errors can be observed:
thinkpad_acpi: EC reports that Thermal Table has changed

2. On another T460p with BIOS version 2.15 two finger scrolling gesture
on the touchpad stops working after suspend-resume cycle (about 75%
reproducibility, when it still works, the scrolling gesture becomes
laggy). Nothing suspicious appears in the dmesg.

We do not need to call ps2_command() several times in a row, transmitting
every byte as it were a command byte, we can often pack it all in a single
command.
Also, now that ps2_command() handles retransmission, we do not need to do
it ourselves in trackpoint_power_on_reset().

This Far-Eastern company's PS/2 mice use a deviant format for the data
relating to movement of the scroll wheels for, at least, their dual wheel
mice, such as their "Optical GreatEye Wheelmouse" model "WOP-35". This
product has five "buttons" (one of which is the click action on the first
wheel) and TWO scroll wheels. However for a byte comprising d0-d7 instead
of setting one of d6-7 in the forth byte of the mouse data packet and a
twos complement number of scroll steps in the remaining d5-d0 (or d3-d0
should there be a fourth (BTN_SIDE - d4) or fifth (BTN_EXTRA - d5) button
to report; they only report a single +/- event for each wheel and use a bit
pattern that corresponds to +/-1 for the first wheel and +/- 2 for the
second in the lower nibble of the fourth byte.
The effect with existing code is that the second mouse wheel merely repeats
the effect of the first but providing two steps per click rather than the
one of the first wheel - so there is no HORIZONTAL scroll wheel movement
detected from the device as far as the rest of the kernel sees it.
This patch, if enabled by the "a4tech_workaround" module parameter modifies
the handling just for mice of type PSMOUSE_IMEX so that the second scroll
wheel movement gets correctly reported as REL_HWHEEL events. Should this
module parameter be activated for other mice of the same PSMOUSE_IMEX type
then it is possible that at the point where the mouse reports more than a
single movement step the user may start seeing horizontal rather than
vertical wheel events, but should the movement steps get to be more than
two at a time the hack will get immediately deactivated and the behaviour
will revert to the past code.
This was discussed around *fifteen* *years* *ago* on the LKML and the best
summary is in post https://lkml.org/lkml/2002/7/18/111 "Re: PS2 Input Core
Support" by Vojtech Pavlik. I was not able to locate any discussion later
than this on this topic.
Given that most users of the "psmouse" module will NOT want this additional
feature enabled I have taken the apparently erroneous step of defaulting
the module parameter that enables it to be "disabled" - this functionality
may interfere with the operation of "normal" mice of this type (until a
large enough scroll wheel movement is detected) so I cannot see how it
would want to be enabled for "normal" users - i.e. everyone without this
brand of mouse.
I am using this patch at the moment and I can confirm that it is working
for me as both a module and compiled into the kernel for my mouse that is
of the type (WOP-35) described - I note that it is still available from
certain on-line retailers and that the manufacturers site does not list
GNU/Linux as being supported on the product page - this patch however does
enable full use of this product:

Lenovo introduced trackpoint compatible sticks with minimum PS/2 commands.
They supposed to reply with 0x02, 0x03, or 0x04 in response to the

input_mt_init_slots() resets the ABS_X/Y fuzz to 0 and expects the driver
to call input_mt_report_pointer_emulation(). That is based on the MT
position bits which are already defuzzed - hence a fuzz of 0.
In the case of synaptics semi-mt devices, we report the ABS_X/Y axes
manually. This results in the MT position being defuzzed but the
single-touch emulation missing that defuzzing.
Work around this by re-initializing the ABS_X/Y axes after the MT axis to
get the same fuzz value back.

The fix for handling two-finger scroll (i4a646580f793 - "Input: ALPS -
fix two-finger scroll breakage in right side on ALPS touchpad")
introduced a minor "typo" that broke decoding of multi-touch events are
decoded on some ALPS touchpads. For example, tapping with three-fingers
can no longer be used to emulate middle-mouse-button (the kernel doesn't
recognize this as the proper event, and doesn't report it correctly to
userspace). This affects touchpads that use SS4 "plus" protocol
variant, like those found on Dell E7270 & E7470 laptops (tested on
E7270).
First, probably the code in alps_decode_ss4_v2() for case
SS4_PACKET_ID_MULTI used inconsistent indices to "f->mt[]". You can see
0 & 1 are used for the "if" part but 2 & 3 are used for the "else" part.
Second, in the previous patch, new macros were introduced to decode X
coordinates specific to the SS4 "plus" variant, but the macro to
define the maximum X value wasn't changed accordingly. The macros to
decode X values for "plus" variant are effectively shifted right by 1
bit, but the max wasn't shifted too. This causes the driver to
incorrectly handle "no data" cases, which also interfered with how
multi-touch was handled.

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 11139
and resulted in the first patch in this series.
If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930
and resulted in the second patch in this series.
- if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1
and that resulted in the third patch in this series.
- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license

determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

This is not used much: git grep gpio_mouse_platform_data shows
that absolutely nothing in the kernel defines this platform
data.
It could be argued that the driver should be deleted. But that
is a bit harsh I think since it seems generally useful. So
this patch starts a series which repurposes it to be used with
hardware nodes from device tree or ACPI.
This first patch simply localize the platform data header and
allocates a dummy platform data.
Yes: this patch leaves the driver in a pretty useless state,

make it more useless than it already is. Later patches makes

In certain situations kernel tracking seems to be getting confused
and incorrectly reporting the slot of a contact. On example is when
the user does a three finger click or tap and then places two fingers
on the touchpad in the same area. The kernel tracking code seems to
continue to think that there are three contacts on the touchpad and
incorrectly alternates the slot of one of the contacts. The result that
is the input subsystem reports a stream of button press and release
events as the reported slot changes.
Kernel tracking was originally enabled to prevent cursor jumps, but it
is unclear how much of an issue kernel jumps actually are. This patch
simply disabled kernel tracking for now.

On x86 we historically used falling edge interrupts in the driver
because that's how first Chrome devices were configured. They also
did not use ACPI to enumerate I2C devices (because back then there
was no kernel support for that), so trigger was hard-coded in the
driver. However the controller behavior is much more reliable if
we use level triggers, and that is how we configured ARM devices,
and how want to configure newer x86 devices as well. All newer
x86 boxes have their I2C devices enumerated in ACPI.
Let's see if platform code (ACPI, DT) described interrupt and
specified particular trigger type, and if so, let's use it instead
of always clobbering trigger with IRQF_TRIGGER_FALLING. We will
still use this trigger type as a fallback if platform code left
interrupt trigger unconfigured.

User-modified input settings no longer survive a suspend/resume cycle.
Starting with 4.12, the touchpad is reinitialized on every reconnect
because the hardware appears to be different. This can be reproduced
by running the following as root:
echo -n reconnect >/sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/drvctl
A line like the following will show up in dmesg:
[30378.295794] psmouse serio1: synaptics: hardware appears to be
different: id(149271-149271), model(114865-114865),
caps(d047b3-d047b1), ext(b40000-b40000).
Note the single bit difference in caps: bit 1 (SYN_CAP_MULTIFINGER).
This happens because we modify our stored copy of the device info
capabilities when we enable advanced gesture mode but this change is
not reflected in the actual hardware capabilities.
It worked in the past because synaptics_query_hardware used to modify
the stored synaptics_device_info struct instead of filling in a new
one, as it does now.
Fix it by no longer faking the SYN_CAP_MULTIFINGER bit when setting
advanced gesture mode. This necessitated a small refactoring.

Fixed the issue that two finger scroll does not work correctly
on V8 protocol. The cause is that V8 protocol X-coordinate decode
is wrong at SS4 PLUS device. I added SS4 PLUS X decode definition.
Mote notes:
the problem manifests itself by the commit e7348396c6 ("Input: ALPS
- fix V8+ protocol handling (73 03 28)"), where a fix for the V8+
protocol was applied. Although the culprit must have been present
beforehand, the two-finger scroll worked casually even with the
wrongly reported values by some reason. It got broken by the commit
above just because it changed x_max value, and this made libinput
correctly figuring the MT events. Since the X coord is reported as
falsely doubled, the events on the right-half side go outside the
boundary, thus they are no longer handled. This resulted as a broken
two-finger scroll.
One finger event is decoded differently, and it didn't suffer from
this problem. The problem was only about MT events. --tiwai

Merge tag 'hwparam-20170420' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-fs
Pull hw lockdown support from David Howells:
"Annotation of module parameters that configure hardware resources
including ioports, iomem addresses, irq lines and dma channels.
This allows a future patch to prohibit the use of such module
parameters to prevent that hardware from being abused to gain access
to the running kernel image as part of locking the kernel down under
UEFI secure boot conditions.
Annotations are made by changing:
module_param(n, t, p)
module_param_named(n, v, t, p)
module_param_array(n, t, m, p)
to:
module_param_hw(n, t, hwtype, p)
module_param_hw_named(n, v, t, hwtype, p)
module_param_hw_array(n, t, hwtype, m, p)
where the module parameter refers to a hardware setting
hwtype specifies the type of the resource being configured. This can
be one of:
ioport Module parameter configures an I/O port
iomem Module parameter configures an I/O mem address
ioport_or_iomem Module parameter could be either (runtime set)
irq Module parameter configures an I/O port
dma Module parameter configures a DMA channel
dma_addr Module parameter configures a DMA buffer address
other Module parameter configures some other value
Note that the hwtype is compile checked, but not currently stored (the
lockdown code probably won't require it). It is, however, there for
future use.
A bonus is that the hwtype can also be used for grepping.
The intention is for the kernel to ignore or reject attempts to set
annotated module parameters if lockdown is enabled. This applies to
options passed on the boot command line, passed to insmod/modprobe or
direct twiddling in /sys/module/ parameter files.
The module initialisation then needs to handle the parameter not being
set, by (1) giving an error, (2) probing for a value or (3) using a
reasonable default.
What I can't do is just reject a module out of hand because it may
take a hardware setting in the module parameters. Some important
modules, some ipmi stuff for instance, both probe for hardware and
allow hardware to be manually specified; if the driver is aborts with
any error, you don't get any ipmi hardware.
Further, trying to do this entirely in the module initialisation code
doesn't protect against sysfs twiddling.
[!] Note that in and of itself, this series of patches should have no
effect on the the size of the kernel or code execution - that is
left to a patch in the next series to effect. It does mark
annotated kernel parameters with a KERNEL_PARAM_FL_HWPARAM flag in
an already existing field"

When the kernel is running in secure boot mode, we lock down the kernel to
prevent userspace from modifying the running kernel image. Whilst this
includes prohibiting access to things like /dev/mem, it must also prevent
access by means of configuring driver modules in such a way as to cause a
device to access or modify the kernel image.
To this end, annotate module_param* statements that refer to hardware
configuration and indicate for future reference what type of parameter they
specify. The parameter parser in the core sees this information and can
skip such parameters with an error message if the kernel is locked down.
The module initialisation then runs as normal, but just sees whatever the
default values for those parameters is.
Note that we do still need to do the module initialisation because some
drivers have viable defaults set in case parameters aren't specified and
some drivers support automatic configuration (e.g. PNP or PCI) in addition
to manually coded parameters.
This patch annotates drivers in drivers/input/.

This provides glue between PS/2 devices that enumerate the RMI4 devices
and Elan touchpads to the RMI4 (or Elan) SMBus driver.
The SMBus devices keep their PS/2 connection alive. If the initialization
process goes too far (psmouse_activate called), the device disconnects
from the I2C bus and stays on the PS/2 bus, that is why we explicitly
disable PS/2 device reporting (by calling psmouse_deactivate) before
trying to register SMBus companion device.
The HID over I2C devices are enumerated through the ACPI DSDT, and
their PS/2 device also exports the InterTouch bit in the extended
capability 0x0C. However, the firmware keeps its I2C connection open
even after going further in the PS/2 initialization. We don't need
to take extra precautions with those device, especially because they

The tracksticks on the Lenovo thinkpads have their buttons connected
through the touchpad device. We already fixed that in synaptics.c, but
when we switch the device into RMI4 mode to have proper support, the
pass-through functionality can't deal with them easily.
We add a new PS/2 flag and protocol designed for psmouse. The RMI4 F03
pass-through can then emit a special set of commands to notify psmouse the
state of the buttons.
This patch implements the protocol in psmouse, while an other will
do the same for rmi4-f03.

The current Alps SS5 (SS4 v2) code generates bogus TouchPad events when
TrackStick packets are processed.
This causes the xorg synaptics driver to print
"unable to find touch point 0" and
"BUG: triggered 'if (priv->num_active_touches > priv->num_slots)'"

BYD automatic protocol detection is extremely unreliable and is often
triggers false positives on regular mice, Sentelic touchpads, and other
devices. BYD has several documents that have recommended detection
sequence, but they conflict with each other and, as far as I can see, still
would not produce unique enough output to reliably differentiate BYD from
other PS/2 devices.
OEMs sourcing BYD devices also do not do us any favors by not supplying any
reasonable DMI data and instead leaving turds like "To Be Filled By O.E.M."
in place of vendor data, or "System Serial Number" as serial number.
On top of that BYD is not truly modern multitouch controller, but rather a
single-touch transitional device that only reports absolute coordinates at
the beginning of finger contact and then reverts to reporting
displacements, and thus not very precise; the only benefit from using BYD
mode vs the legacy PS/2 mode is possibility of edge scrolling.
Given the above, and the fact that BYD devices are somewhat uncommon, let's
disable automatic detection of BYD devices. Users who know they have BYD
trackpads or want to experiment can attempt to activate BYD protocol via
sysfs:
echo -n "byd" > /sys/bus/serio/devices/serio1/drvctl

The VMWare EFI BIOS will expose port 0x5658 as an ACPI resource. This
causes the port to be reserved by the APCI module as the system comes up,
making it unavailable to be reserved again by other drivers, thus
preserving this VMWare port for special use in a VMWare guest.
This port is designed to be shared among multiple VMWare services, such as
the VMMOUSE. Because of this, VMMOUSE should not try to reserve this port
on its own.
The VMWare non-EFI BIOS does not do this to preserve compatibility with
existing/legacy VMs. It is known that there is small chance a VM may be
configured such that these ports get reserved by other non-VMWare devices,
and if this ever happens, the result is undefined.

When changing the scan rate as part of runtime-resume process we may lose

1) for gen3 trackpads, the driver must msleep() some time to ensure that

2) for gen5 and later trackpads, the queue dumping function will simply
ignore the events when waiting for the set power mode command response.

Previously the "vendor" and "product" IDs for the elan_i2c driver simply
reported 0000. This patch modifies the elan_i2c driver to include the
Elan vendor ID and the touchpad's product id under
input/input*/{vendor,product}.
Specifically, this is to allow us to apply a generic Elan gestures config
that will apply to all Elan touchpads on ChromeOS. These configs match to
input devices in various ways, but one major way is by matching on vendor
ID. Adding this patch allows the default Elan touchpad config to be
applied to Elan touchpads in this kernel by matching on devices that have
vendor ID 04f3.
Note that product ID is also available via custom sysfs entry "product_id"
as well.

commit 92bac83dd7 ("Input: alps - non interleaved V2 dualpoint has
separate stick button bits") assumes that all alps v2 non-interleaved
dual point setups have the separate stick button bits.
Later we limited this to Dell laptops only because of reports that this
broke things on non Dell laptops. Now it turns out that this breaks things
on the Dell Latitude D600 too. So it seems that only the Dell Latitude
D420/430/620/630, which all share the same touchpad / stick combo,
have these separate bits.
This patch limits the checking of the separate bits to only these models
fixing regressions with other models.

The Asus X456UA has an ELAN1000 touchpad with IAP version 0xe. This is
unknown to elan_get_fwinfo() so driver probe fails and I am left with an

However, the fwinfo is not required for general driver usage, it is only

Bit 2 of the mode byte has dual meaning: it can disable reporting of
gestures when touchpad works in Relative mode or normal Absolute mode,
or it can enable so called Extended W-Mode when touchpad uses enhanced
Absolute mode (W-mode). The extended W-Mode confuses our driver and
causes missing button presses on some Thinkpads (x250, T450s), so let's
make sure we do not enable it.
Also, according to the spec W mode "... bit is defined only in Absolute
mode on pads whose capExtended capability bit is set. In Relative mode and
in TouchPads without this capability, the bit is reserved and should be
left at 0.", so let's make sure we respect this requirement as well.

Previously the elan_i2c touchpad driver would simply request the firmware
"/lib/firmware/elan_i2c.bin", which does not work well if there are
multiple such devices in the system.
Let's append the "product ID" (by using the same function as the sysfs
interface for consistency) to the filename. This results in filenames of
the form "/lib/firmware/elan_i2c_72.0.bin", allowing you to support
multiple elan_i2c touchpads on the same device by simply naming each
device's FW with its corresponding product ID. This way when you trigger a

On some v7 devices (e.g. Lenovo-E550) the deltas reported are typically
only in the 0-1 range dividing this by 2 results in a range of 0-0.
And even for v7 devices where this does not lead to making the trackstick
entirely unusable, it makes it twice as slow as before we added v7 support
and were using the ps/2 mouse emulation of the dual point setup.
If some kind of generic slowdown is actually necessary for some devices,

On v7 touchpads sometimes when 2 fingers are moved down on the touchpad
until they "fall of" the touchpad, the second touch will report 0 for y

With the recent process_bitmap() changes all semi-mt devices always report
the first finger down in slot 0, so stop using input-mt finger tracking
for these.

All alps semi-mt touchpads give us the following data when 2 (or more)
fingers are touching: 1 more or less accurate touch for the first finger
down, and a bitmap with columns and rows in which 1 or more fingers are
seen resulting in a crude (low res) bounding box.
So far for v3, rushmore and v4 touchpads we've been reporting the
coordinates of 2 opposite corners of the box when 2 fingers are touching.
Ignoring the much better resolution data given in the normal position
packet.
This commit actually uses this data for the first touch, figures out which
corner of the bounding box is closest to the first touch, and reports the
coordinates of the opposite corner for the second touch, resulting in
much better data for the first touch and for the single touch
pointer-emulation events.
This approach is similar to the one in alps_process_bitmap_dolphin, that
function takes the single accurate touch info, calculates the distance to
the center of the bounding box, and then puts the 2nd touch mirrored to
the center. The downside of that approach is that if both touches move
slowly in the same direction, the bounding box will stay the same for a
while (as it is low res) and the second touch will thus been seen moving
in the opposite direction until the bounding box actually changes, and
then the second touch snaps to its new position resulting in a saw tooth
pattern in the coordinates for the second touch, hence this new approach.
This commit fixes 2 finger scrolling being choppy / jumpy on these
touchpads.

We should decode the position packet before the packet with the bitmap
data. This way we can use the more accurate position info in
process_bitmap() to get better results.

Pinnacle / Rushmore packets contain either position info, or bitmap info,
never both. So far we've in essence been storing garbage in the position /
bitmap fields of the fields struct when decoding a bitmap / pos packet.
We've been relying on the following sequence to get away with this:
1) Decode bitmap packet
2) Process bitmap packet
3) Decode position packet
4) Use position / button info
This patch allows us to change this sequence, which will allow using the
position info when processing the bitmap for more accurate results.

Change alps_decode_rushmore to do all decoding itself, rather then relying
on alps_decode_pinnacle and then overriding some fields + or-ing in some
bits.
This is a preparation patch for modifying the decode functions to properly
differentiate between position and bitmap packets.

When the v3 hardware sees more than one finger, it uses the semi-mt
protocol to report the touches. However, it currently works when
num_fingers is 0, 1 or 2, but when it is 3 and above, it sends only 1
finger as if num_fingers was 1.
This confuses userspace which knows how to deal with extra fingers
when all the slots are used, but not when some are missing.

According to Elan's firmware engineers we should not be subtracting 1 form
the raw number of x and y traces so that the pitch size is correct. For
example, if the touchpad x resolution is 2800 and x trace number is 20,
the pitch size of x should be 2800/20 = 140, not 2800/19 = 147.36.

VMMouse enables low-latency mouse-cursor-movements for VMWare and QEMU
guests. By removing the guest cursor and using the host as a guest cursor
the cursor movement appears instant although in reality there is some lag.
To be able to do this, the host's view of the cursor position must exactly
match the guest's view and an absolute pointer device is needed. Enter the
VMMouse. While the VMMouse driver has historically been an Xorg user-space
driver, implementing it as a kernel imput driver enables rootless Xorg and
new compositing display servers for VMware guests.

Non interleaved V2 dualpoint touchpad / stick combos have separate stick
button bits in the touchpad packets, if we do not check these then the
trackpoint buttons will not work when using the touchpad, and when pressed
when the user starts using the touchpad will report a release event even
though the button is still pressed.
This commit fixes this by checking the separate bits, note that we simply
combine the buttons, since the hardware does the same when using the touchpad
buttons with the trackpoint, so we do not have enough information to properly
separate them.

When the left touchpad button gets pressed, and then the trackpoint is
moved, and then the button is released, the following happens:
1) touchpad packet is received, touchpad evdev node reports BTN_LEFT 1
2) pointing stick packet is received, the hw will report a BTN_LEFT 1 in
this packet because when the trackstick is active it communicates the
combined touchpad + pointing stick buttons in the trackstick packet,
since alps_report_bare_ps2_packet passes NULL (*) for the dev2 parameter
to alps_report_buttons the combining is not detected and the
pointing stick evdev node will also report BTN_LEFT 1
3) on release of the button a pointing stick packet with BTN_LEFT 0 is
received and the pointing stick evdev node will report BTN_LEFT 0
Note how because of the passing as NULL for dev2 the touchpad evdev node
will never send BTN_LEFT 0 in this scenario leading to a stuck mouse button.
This is a regression in 4.0 introduced by commit 04aae283ba
("Input: ALPS - do not mix trackstick and external PS/2 mouse data")
This commit fixes this by passing in the touchpad evdev as dev2 parameter
when calling alps_report_buttons for the pointingstick on alps v2 devices,
so that alps_report_buttons correctly detect that we're already reporting
the button as pressed via the touchpad evdev node, and will also send the
release event there.
