There are 3 places in namei.c where the equivalent of ext2_put_page() is
open coded on a page which was returned from the ext2_get_page() call
[through the use of ext2_find_entry() and ext2_dotdot()].
Move ext2_put_page() to ext2.h and use it in namei.c
Also add a comment regarding the proper way to release the page returned
from ext2_find_entry() and ext2_dotdot().

When running in a dax mode, if the user maps a page with MAP_PRIVATE and
PROT_WRITE, the ext2 filesystem would incorrectly update ctime and mtime
when the user hits a COW fault.
This breaks building of the Linux kernel. How to reproduce:
1. extract the Linux kernel tree on dax-mounted ext2 filesystem
2. run make clean
3. run make -j12
4. run make -j12
at step 4, make would incorrectly rebuild the whole kernel (although it
was already built in step 3).
The reason for the breakage is that almost all object files depend on
objtool. When we run objtool, it takes COW page fault on its .data
section, and these faults will incorrectly update the timestamp of the
objtool binary. The updated timestamp causes make to rebuild the whole
tree.

The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language
extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare
variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2],
introduced in C99:
struct foo {
int stuff;
struct boo array[];
};
By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning
in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which
will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being
inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on.
Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by
this change:
"Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator
may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of
zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1]
This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle.

Lockdep complains about a chain:
sb_internal#2 --> &ei->xattr_sem#2 --> fs_reclaim
and shrink_dentry_list -> ext2_evict_inode -> ext2_xattr_delete_inode ->
down_write(ei->xattr_sem) creating a locking cycle in the reclaim path.
This is however a false positive because when we are in
ext2_evict_inode() we are the only holder of the inode reference and
nobody else should touch xattr_sem of that inode. So we cannot ever
block on acquiring the xattr_sem in the reclaim path.
Silence the lockdep warning by using down_write_trylock() in
ext2_xattr_delete_inode() to not create false locking dependency.

As of now dax_writeback_mapping_range() takes "struct block_device" as a
parameter and dax_dev is searched from bdev name. This also involves taking
a fresh reference on dax_dev and putting that reference at the end of
function.
We are developing a new filesystem virtio-fs and using dax to access host
page cache directly. But there is no block device. IOW, we want to make
use of dax but want to get rid of this assumption that there is always
a block device associated with dax_dev.
So pass in "struct dax_device" as parameter instead of bdev.
ext2/ext4/xfs are current users and they already have a reference on
dax_device. So there is no need to take reference and drop reference to
dax_device on each call of this function.

Currently we set *count to num(value 0) in the failure
of block allocation in ext2_try_to_allocate(). Without
reservation, we reuse *count(value 0) to retry block
allocation and wrong *count will cause only allocating
maximum 1 block even though having sufficent free blocks
in that block group. Finally, it probably cause significant
fragmentation.

kmemdup is introduced to duplicate a region of memory in a neat way.
Rather than kmalloc/kzalloc + memset, which the programmer needs to
write the size twice (sometimes lead to mistakes), kmemdup improves
readability, leads to smaller code and also reduce the chances of mistakes.
Suggestion to use kmemdup rather than using kmalloc/kzalloc + memset.

When setting the first xattr, we automatically enable
EXT2_FEATURE_COMPAT_EXT_ATTR. However we forget to call
ext2_update_dynamic_rev() so in theory if the filesystem was created as
ancient one without features support, this could be missed. The
consequences are minor anyway - since the feature is compat one, only
old e2fsck which does not understand xattrs could do something bad.

udf: Fix BUG on corrupted inode
ext2: change reusable parameter to true when calling mb_cache_entry_create()
ext2: remove redundant condition check
ext2: avoid unnecessary operation in ext2_error()
The function ext2_xattr_set calls brelse(bh) to drop the reference count
of bh. After that, bh may be freed. However, following brelse(bh),
it reads bh->b_data via macro HDR(bh). This may result in a
use-after-free bug. This patch moves brelse(bh) after reading field.

If macro CONFIG_QUOTA is not enabled then mount option flag
of usrquota/grpquota will not be set, so we can remove some

Sync syscall to DAX file needs to flush processor cache, but it
currently does not flush to existing DAX files. This is because
'ext2_da_aops' is set to address_space_operations of existing DAX
files, instead of 'ext2_dax_aops', since S_DAX flag is set after
ext2_set_aops() in the open path.
Similar to ext4, change ext2_iget() to initialize i_flags before
ext2_set_aops().

default_acl and acl of newly created inode will be initiated as
ACL_NOT_CACHED in vfs function inode_init_always() and later will be
updated by calling xxx_init_acl() in specific filesystems. However,
when default_acl and acl are NULL, then they keep the value of
ACL_NOT_CACHED. This patch changes the code to cache NULL for acl /
default_acl in this case to save unnecessary ACL lookup in future.

This patch is reworked from an earlier patch that Dan has posted:
https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/10131727/
VM_MIXEDMAP is used by dax to direct mm paths like vm_normal_page() that
the memory page it is dealing with is not typical memory from the linear
map. The get_user_pages_fast() path, since it does not resolve the vma,
is already using {pte,pmd}_devmap() as a stand-in for VM_MIXEDMAP, so we
use that as a VM_MIXEDMAP replacement in some locations. In the cases
where there is no pte to consult we fallback to using vma_is_dax() to
detect the VM_MIXEDMAP special case.
Now that we have explicit driver pfn_t-flag opt-in/opt-out for
get_user_pages() support for DAX we can stop setting VM_MIXEDMAP. This
also means we no longer need to worry about safely manipulating vm_flags
in a future where we support dynamically changing the dax mode of a
file.
DAX should also now be supported with madvise_behavior(), vma_merge(),
and copy_page_range().
This patch has been tested against ndctl unit test. It has also been
tested against xfstests commit: 625515d using fake pmem created by
memmap and no additional issues have been observed.

get_seconds() is deprecated because of the y2038 overflow, so users
should migrate to 64-bit timestamps using ktime_get_real_seconds().
In ext2, the timestamps in the superblock and in the inode are all
limited to 32-bit, and this won't get fixed, so let's just stop
using the deprecated interface and keep truncating.
All users of ext2 should migrate to ext4 before 2038 to prevent this
from causing problems.
