Johannes Berg adf8ed01e4 mac80211: add an optional TXQ for other PS-buffered frames
Some drivers may want to also use the TXQ abstraction with
non-data packets that need powersave buffering, so add a
hardware flag to allow this.

Emmanuel Grumbach 6c18b27d6e mac80211: don't Tx a deauth frame if the AP forbade Tx
If the driver fails to properly prepare for the channel
switch, mac80211 will disconnect. If the CSA IE had mode
set to 1, it means that the clients are not allowed to send
any Tx on the current channel, and that includes the
deauthentication frame.

Make sure that we don't send the deauthentication frame in
this case.

In iwlwifi, this caused a failure to flush queues since the
firmware already closed the queues after having parsed the
CSA IE. Then mac80211 would wait until the deauthentication
frame would go out (drv_flush(drop=false)) and that would
never happen.

Ilan Peer 0007e94355 mac80211: Fix station bandwidth setting after channel switch
When performing a channel switch flow for a managed interface, the
flow did not update the bandwidth of the AP station and the rate
scale algorithm. In case of a channel width downgrade, this would
result with the rate scale algorithm using a bandwidth that does not
match the interface channel configuration.

Fix this by updating the AP station bandwidth and rate scaling algorithm
before the actual channel change in case of a bandwidth downgrade, or
after the actual channel change in case of a bandwidth upgrade.

Emmanuel Grumbach f3ffb6c3a2 mac80211: fix a race between restart and CSA flows
We hit a problem with iwlwifi that was caused by a bug in
mac80211. A bug in iwlwifi caused the firwmare to crash in
certain cases in channel switch. Because of that bug,
drv_pre_channel_switch would fail and trigger the restart
flow.
Now we had the hw restart worker which runs on the system's
workqueue and the csa_connection_drop_work worker that runs
on mac80211's workqueue that can run together. This is
obviously problematic since the restart work wants to
reconfigure the connection, while the csa_connection_drop_work
worker does the exact opposite: it tries to disconnect.

Fix this by cancelling the csa_connection_drop_work worker
in the restart worker.

Note that this can sound racy: we could have:

But this is not possible because we flush the workqueue
in the restart worker before we cancel the CSA worker.
That would be bullet proof if we could guarantee that
we schedule the CSA worker only from the iface_work
which runs on the workqueue (and not on the system's
workqueue), but unfortunately we do have an instance
in which we schedule the CSA work outside the context
of the workqueue (ieee80211_chswitch_done).

Note also that we should probably cancel other workers
like beacon_connection_loss_work and possibly others
for different types of interfaces, at the very least,
IBSS should suffer from the exact same problem, but for
now, do the minimum to fix the actual bug that was actually
experienced and reproduced.

Dreyfuss, Haim abd76d255d mac80211: fix WMM TXOP calculation
In commit 9236c4523e5b ("mac80211: limit wmm params to comply
with ETSI requirements"), we have limited the WMM parameters to
comply with 802.11 and ETSI standard.  Mistakenly the TXOP value
was caluclated wrong.  Fix it by taking the minimum between
802.11 to ETSI to make sure we are not violating both.

Johannes Berg aa58acf325 mac80211: always account for A-MSDU header changes
In the error path of changing the SKB headroom of the second
A-MSDU subframe, we would not account for the already-changed
length of the first frame that just got converted to be in
A-MSDU format and thus is a bit longer now.

Fix this by doing the necessary accounting.

It would be possible to reorder the operations, but that would
make the code more complex (to calculate the necessary pad),
and the headroom expansion should not fail frequently enough
to make that worthwhile.

Lorenzo Bianconi 1eb5079036 mac80211: do not convert to A-MSDU if frag/subframe limited
Do not start to aggregate packets in a A-MSDU frame (converting the
first subframe to A-MSDU, adding the header) if max_tx_fragments or
max_amsdu_subframes limits are already exceeded by it. In particular,
this happens when drivers set the limit to 1 to avoid A-MSDUs at all.

Sara Sharon 166ac9d55b mac80211: avoid kernel panic when building AMSDU from non-linear SKB
When building building AMSDU from non-linear SKB, we hit a
kernel panic when trying to push the padding to the tail.
Instead, put the padding at the head of the next subframe.
This also fixes the A-MSDU subframes to not have the padding
accounted in the length field and not have pad at all for
the last subframe, both required by the spec.

Balaji Pothunoori 9c06602b1b cfg80211: clarify frames covered by average ACK signal report
Modify the API to include all ACK frames in average ACK
signal strength reporting, not just ACKs for data frames.
Make exposing the data conditional on implementing the
extended feature flag.

This is how it was really implemented in mac80211, update
the code there to use the new defines and clean up some of
the setting code.

Keep nl80211.h source compatibility by keeping the old names.

Sathishkumar Muruganandam 1ecef20cf1 mac80211: add missing WFA Multi-AP backhaul STA Rx requirement
The current mac80211 WDS (4-address mode) can be used to cover most of the
Multi-AP requirements for Data frames per the WFA Multi-AP Specification v1.0.
When configuring AP/STA interfaces in 4-address mode, they are able to function
as fronthaul AP/backhaul STA of Multi-AP device complying below
Tx, Rx requirements except one missing STA Rx requirement added by this patch.

Multi-AP specification section 14.1 describes the following requirements:

Transmitter requirements
------------------------
1. Fronthaul AP
        i) When DA!=RA of backhaul STA, must use 4-address format
        ii) When DA==RA of backhaul STA, shall use either 3-address
            or 4-address format with RA updated with STA MAC

            (mac80211 support 4-address format via AP/VLAN interface)

2. Backhaul STA
        i) When SA!=TA of backhaul STA, must use 4-address format
        ii) When SA==TA of backhaul STA, shall use either 3-address
            or 4-address format with RA updated with AP MAC

            (mac80211 support 4-address format via use_4addr)

Receiver requirements
---------------------
1. Fronthaul AP
        i) When SA!=TA of backhaul STA, must support receiving 4-address
           format frames
        ii) When SA==TA of backhaul STA, must support receiving both
            3-address and 4-address format frames

            (mac80211 support both 3-addr & 4-addr via AP/VLAN interface)

2. Backhaul STA
        i) When DA!=RA of backhaul STA, must support receiving 4-address
           format frames
        ii) When DA==RA of backhaul STA,  must support receiving both
            3-address and 4-address format frames

            (mac80211 support only receiving 4-address format via
             use_4addr)

This patch addresses the above Rx requirement (ii) for backhaul STA to receive
unicast (DA==RA) 3-address frames in addition to 4-address frames.

The current design doesn't accept 3-address frames when configured in 4-address
mode (use_4addr). Hence add a check to allow 3-address frames when DA==RA of
backhaul STA (adhering to Table 9-26 of IEEE Std 802.11™-2016).

This case was tested with a bridged station interface when associated with
a non-mac80211 based vendor AP implementation using 3-address frames for WDS.

STA was able to support the Multi-AP Rx requirement when DA==RA. No issues,
no loops seen when tested with mac80211 based AP as well.

Verified and confirmed all other Tx and Rx requirements of AP and STA for
Multi-AP respectively. They all work using the current mac80211-WDS design.

Manikanta Pubbisetty 21a5d4c3a4 mac80211: add stop/start logic for software TXQs
Sometimes, it is required to stop the transmissions momentarily and
resume it later; stopping the txqs becomes very critical in scenarios where
the packet transmission has to be ceased completely. For example, during
the hardware restart, during off channel operations,
when initiating CSA(upon detecting a radar on the DFS channel), etc.

The TX queue stop/start logic in mac80211 works well in stopping the TX
when drivers make use of netdev queues, i.e, when Qdiscs in network layer
take care of traffic scheduling. Since the devices implementing
wake_tx_queue can run without Qdiscs, packets will be handed to mac80211
directly without queueing them in the netdev queues.

Also, mac80211 does not invoke any of the
netif_stop_*/netif_wake_* APIs if wake_tx_queue is implemented.
Since the queues are not stopped in this case, transmissions can continue
and this will impact negatively on the operation of the wireless device.

For example,
During hardware restart, we stop the netdev queues so that packets are
not sent to the driver. Since ath10k implements wake_tx_queue,
TX queues will not be stopped and packets might reach the hardware while
it is restarting; this can make hardware unresponsive and the only
possible option for recovery is to reboot the entire system.

There is another problem to this, it is observed that the packets
were sent on the DFS channel for a prolonged duration after radar
detection impacting the channel closing time.

We can still invoke netif stop/wake APIs when wake_tx_queue is implemented
but this could lead to packet drops in network layer; adding stop/start
logic for software TXQs in mac80211 instead makes more sense; the change
proposed adds the same in mac80211.

Emmanuel Grumbach 20932750d9 mac80211: don't update the PM state of a peer upon a multicast frame
I changed the way mac80211 updates the PM state of the peer.
I forgot that we could also have multicast frames from the
peer and that those frame should of course not change the
PM state of the peer: A peer goes to power save when it
needs to scan, but it won't send the broadcast Probe Request
with the PM bit set.

This made us mark the peer as awake when it wasn't and then
Intel's firmware would fail to transmit because the peer is
asleep according to its database. The driver warned about
this and it looked like this:

Stanislaw Gruszka 38cb87ee47 cfg80211: make wmm_rule part of the reg_rule structure
Make wmm_rule be part of the reg_rule structure. This simplifies the
code a lot at the cost of having bigger memory usage. However in most
cases we have only few reg_rule's and when we do have many like in
iwlwifi we do not save memory as it allocates a separate wmm_rule for
each channel anyway.

This also fixes a bug reported in various places where somewhere the
pointers were corrupted and we ended up doing a null-dereference.

The mod mask for VHT capabilities intends to say that you can override
the number of STBC receive streams, and it does, but only by accident.
The IEEE80211_VHT_CAP_RXSTBC_X aren't bits to be set, but values (albeit
left-shifted).  ORing the bits together gets the right answer, but we
should use the _MASK macro here instead.

Toke Høiland-Jørgensen 77cfaf52ec mac80211: Run TXQ teardown code before de-registering interfaces
The TXQ teardown code can reference the vif data structures that are
stored in the netdev private memory area if there are still packets on
the queue when it is being freed. Since the TXQ teardown code is run
after the netdevs are freed, this can lead to a use-after-free. Fix this
by moving the TXQ teardown code to earlier in ieee80211_unregister_hw().

Manikanta Pubbisetty 133bf90dbb mac80211: restrict delayed tailroom needed decrement
As explained in ieee80211_delayed_tailroom_dec(), during roam,
keys of the old AP will be destroyed and new keys will be
installed. Deletion of the old key causes
crypto_tx_tailroom_needed_cnt to go from 1 to 0 and the new key
installation causes a transition from 0 to 1.

Whenever crypto_tx_tailroom_needed_cnt transitions from 0 to 1,
we invoke synchronize_net(); the reason for doing this is to avoid
a race in the TX path as explained in increment_tailroom_need_count().
This synchronize_net() operation can be slow and can affect the station
roam time. To avoid this, decrementing the crypto_tx_tailroom_needed_cnt
is delayed for a while so that upon installation of new key the
transition would be from 1 to 2 instead of 0 to 1 and thereby
improving the roam time.

This is all correct for a STA iftype, but deferring the tailroom_needed
decrement for other iftypes may be unnecessary.

For example, let's consider the case of a 4-addr client connecting to
an AP for which AP_VLAN interface is also created, let the initial
value for tailroom_needed on the AP be 1.

* 4-addr client connects to the AP (AP: tailroom_needed = 1)
* AP will clear old keys, delay decrement of tailroom_needed count
* AP_VLAN is created, it takes the tailroom count from master
  (AP_VLAN: tailroom_needed = 1, AP: tailroom_needed = 1)
* Install new key for the station, assume key is plumbed in the HW,
  there won't be any change in tailroom_needed count on AP iface
* Delayed decrement of tailroom_needed count on AP
  (AP: tailroom_needed = 0, AP_VLAN: tailroom_needed = 1)

Because of the delayed decrement on AP iface, tailroom_needed count goes
out of sync between AP(master iface) and AP_VLAN(slave iface) and
there would be unnecessary tailroom created for the packets going
through AP_VLAN iface.

Also, WARN_ONs were observed while trying to bring down the AP_VLAN
interface:

Johannes Berg 0832b603c7 mac80211: don't put null-data frames on the normal TXQ
Since (QoS) NDP frames shouldn't be put into aggregation nor are
assigned real sequence numbers, etc. it's better to treat them as
non-data packets and not put them on the normal TXQs, for example
when building A-MPDUs they need to be treated specially, and they
are more used for management (e.g. to see if the station is alive)
anyway.

Denis Kenzior a948f71384 nl80211/mac80211: allow non-linear skb in rx_control_port
The current implementation of cfg80211_rx_control_port assumed that the
caller could provide a contiguous region of memory for the control port
frame to be sent up to userspace.  Unfortunately, many drivers produce
non-linear skbs, especially for data frames.  This resulted in userspace
getting notified of control port frames with correct metadata (from
address, port, etc) yet garbage / nonsense contents, resulting in bad
handshakes, disconnections, etc.

mac80211 linearizes skbs containing management frames.  But it didn't
seem worthwhile to do this for control port frames.  Thus the signature
of cfg80211_rx_control_port was changed to take the skb directly.
nl80211 then takes care of obtaining control port frame data directly
from the (linear | non-linear) skb.

The caller is still responsible for freeing the skb,
cfg80211_rx_control_port does not take ownership of it.

Given that activating a trigger can fail, let the callback return an
indication. This prevents to have a trigger active according to the
"trigger" sysfs attribute but not functional.

The BIT macro uses unsigned long which some architectures handle as 32 bit
and therefore might cause macro's shift to overflow when used on a value
equals or larger than 32 (NL80211_STA_INFO_RX_DURATION and afterwards).

Since 'filled' member in station_info changed to u64, BIT_ULL macro
should be used with all NL80211_STA_INFO_* attribute types instead of BIT
to prevent future possible bugs when one will use BIT macro for higher
attributes by mistake.

This commit cleans up all usages of BIT macro with the above field
in mac80211 by changing it to BIT_ULL instead.

Johannes Berg b8042b3da9 ieee80211: bump IEEE80211_MAX_AMPDU_BUF to support HE
Bump the IEEE80211_MAX_AMPDU_BUF size to 0x100 for HE support
and - for now - use IEEE80211_MAX_AMPDU_BUF_HT everywhere.

This is derived from my internal patch, parts of which Luca
had sent upstream.

This function is passed many more parameters in the scan case

Toke Høiland-Jørgensen dc8b274f09 mac80211: Move up init of TXQs
On init, ieee80211_if_add() dumps the interface. Since that now includes a
dump of the TXQ state, we need to initialise that before the dump happens.
So move up the TXQ initialisation to to before the call to
ieee80211_if_add().

Kees Cook 6396bb2215 treewide: kzalloc() -> kcalloc()
The kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kcalloc(). This
patch replaces cases of:

        kzalloc(a * b, gfp)

with:
        kcalloc(a * b, gfp)

as well as handling cases of:

        kzalloc(a * b * c, gfp)

with:

        kzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp)

as it's slightly less ugly than:

        kzalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp)

This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like:

        kzalloc(4 * 1024, gfp)

though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion.

Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were
dropped, since they're redundant.

Ilan Peer d4e36e5554 mac80211: Support adding duration for prepare_tx() callback
There are specific cases, such as SAE authentication exchange, that
might require long duration to complete. For such cases, add support
for indicating to the driver the required duration of the prepare_tx()
operation, so the driver would still be able to complete the frame
exchange.

Currently, indicate the duration only for SAE authentication exchange,
as SAE authentication can take up to 2000 msec (as defined in IEEE
P802.11-REVmd D1.0 p. 3504).

As the patch modified the prepare_tx() callback API, also modify
the relevant code in iwlwifi.

Alexander Wetzel 39c1134c66 mac80211: fix TX aggregation stop race
The mac80211 tear down code is not waiting for the driver call back.
This can bring down the the TX path (TID) till the user manually
reconnects. (Observed with iwldvm and enabled TX aggregation.)

The race can be prevented when the ampdu_mlme worker handles the tear
down.

The race:
 * ieee80211_sta_tear_down_BA_sessions calls
   ___ieee80211_stop_tx_ba_session for all TIDs,

 * then cancels the ampdu_mlme worker

 * and cleanups the TIDs the driver already has called back for.

 * ieee80211_stop_tx_ba_cb will never be called for a TID if the callback
   came after the the check in ieee80211_sta_tear_down_BA_sessions.

With the addition of TXQ stats in the per-tid statistics the struct
station_info grew significantly. This resulted in stack size warnings
due to the structure itself being above the limit for the warnings.

Add an allocation function that those who want to provide per-tid
stats should use to allocate the tid array, i.e.
struct station_info::pertid.

Bob Copeland 1d6741d864 mac80211: mesh: fix premature update of rc stats
The mesh_neighbour_update() function, queued via beacon rx, can race with
userspace creating the same station.  If the station already exists by the
time mesh_neighbour_update() is called, the function wrongly assumes rate
control has been initialized and calls rate_control_rate_update(), which
in turn calls into the driver.

Updating the rate control before it has been initialized can cause a
crash in some drivers, for example this firmware crash in ath10k due
to sta->rx_nss being 0:

100000 an ULL to ensure a 64 multiplication occurs.

Emmanuel Grumbach c470bdc1aa mac80211: don't WARN on bad WMM parameters from buggy APs
Apparently, some APs are buggy enough to send a zeroed
WMM IE. Don't WARN on this since this is not caused by a bug
on the client's system.

This aligns the condition of the WARNING in drv_conf_tx
with the validity check in ieee80211_sta_wmm_params.
We will now pick the default values whenever we get
a zeroed WMM IE.

Manikanta Pubbisetty db3bdcb9c3 mac80211: allow AP_VLAN operation on crypto controlled devices
In the current implementation, mac80211 advertises the support of
AP_VLANs based on the driver's support for AP mode; it also
blocks encrypted AP_VLAN operation on devices advertising
SW_CRYPTO_CONTROL.

The implementation seems weird in it's current form and could be
often confusing, this is because there can be drivers advertising
both SW_CRYPTO_CONTROL and AP mode support (ex: ath10k) in which case
AP_VLAN will still be supported but only in open BSS and not in
secured BSS.

When SW_CRYPTO_CONTROL is enabled, it makes more sense if the decision
to support AP_VLANs is left to the driver. Mac80211 can then allow
AP_VLAN operations depending on the driver support.

Haim Dreyfuss e552af0581 mac80211: limit wmm params to comply with ETSI requirements
ETSI has recently added new requirements that restrict the WMM
parameter values for 5GHz frequencies.  We need to take care of the
following scenarios in order to comply with these new requirements:

1. When using mac80211 default values;
2. When the userspace tries to configure its own values;
3. When associating to an AP which advertises WWM IE.

When associating to an AP, the client uses the values in the
advertised WMM IE.  But the AP may not comply with the new ETSI
requirements, so the client needs to check the current regulatory
rules and use those limits accordingly.

For the mac80211 stuff, these were fortunately just parallel
adds.  Trivially resolved.

In drivers/net/phy/phy.c we had a bug fix in 'net' that moved the
function phy_disable_interrupts() earlier in the file, whilst in
'net-next' the phy_error() call from this function was removed.

In net/ipv4/xfrm4_policy.c, David Ahern's changes to remove the
'rt_table_id' member of rtable collided with a bug fix in 'net' that
added a new struct member "rt_mtu_locked" which needs to be copied
over here.

The mlxsw driver conflict consisted of net-next separating
the span code and definitions into separate files, whilst
a 'net' bug fix made some changes to that moved code.

The mlx5 infiniband conflict resolution was quite non-trivial,
the RDMA tree's merge commit was used as a guide here, and
here are their notes:

Tosoni 1ad22fb5bb mac80211: inform wireless layer when frame RSSI is invalid
When the low-level driver returns an invalid RSSI indication,
set the signal value to 0 as an indication to the upper layer.

Also, skip average level computation if signal is invalid.

Ben Caradoc-Davies 7c181f4fcd mac80211: add ieee80211_hw flag for QoS NDP support
Commit 7b6ddeaf27 ("mac80211: use QoS NDP for AP probing") added an
argument qos_ok to ieee80211_nullfunc_get to support QoS NDP. Despite
the claim in the commit log "Change all the drivers to *not* allow
QoS NDP for now, even though it looks like most of them should be OK
with that", this commit enables QoS NDP in response to beacons (see
change to mlme.c:ieee80211_send_nullfunc), causing ath9k_htc to lose
IP connectivity. See:

Introduce a hardware flag to allow such buggy drivers to override the

Felix Fietkau 24bba078ec mac80211: support A-MSDU in fast-rx
Only works if the IV was stripped from packets. Create a smaller
variant of ieee80211_rx_h_amsdu, which bypasses checks already done
within the fast-rx context.

In order to do so, update cfg80211's ieee80211_data_to_8023_exthdr()
to take the offset between header and snap.

Ilan Peer 21b7022f13 mac80211: agg-rx: Accept ADDBA request update if timeout did not change
As there is no support for updating an existing ADDBA session with
a peer, we decline the request (while keeping the session active).
However, in case that the timeout did not change, there is no need
to decline the request, so modify the code to reply with status success
in such a case (this is useful for interoperability with APs that send an
ADDBA request update without changing the timeout value).

Toke Høiland-Jørgensen 36148c2bbf mac80211: Adjust TSQ pacing shift
Since we now have the convenient helper to do so, actually adjust the
TSQ pacing shift for packets going out over a WiFi interface. This
significantly improves throughput for locally-originated TCP
connections. The default pacing shift of 10 corresponds to ~1ms of
queued packet data. Adjusting this to a shift of 8 (i.e. ~4ms) improves
1-hop throughput for ath9k by a factor of 3, whereas increasing it more
has diminishing returns.

Achieved throughput for different values of sk_pacing_shift (average of
5 iterations of 10-sec netperf runs to a host on the other side of the
WiFi hop):

sk_pacing_shift 10:  43.21 Mbps (pre-patch)
sk_pacing_shift  9:  78.17 Mbps
sk_pacing_shift  8: 123.94 Mbps
sk_pacing_shift  7: 128.31 Mbps

Latency for competing flows increases from ~3 ms to ~10 ms with this
change. This is about the same magnitude of queueing latency induced by
flows that are not originated on the WiFi device itself (and so are not
limited by TSQ).

Ilan Peer 94ba92713f mac80211: Call mgd_prep_tx before transmitting deauthentication
In multi channel scenarios, when disassociating from the AP before a
beacon was heard from the AP, it is not guaranteed that the virtual
interface is granted air time for the transmission of the
deauthentication frame. This in turn can lead to various issues as
the AP might never get the deauthentication frame.

To mitigate such possible issues, add a HW flag indicating that the
driver requires mac80211 to call the mgd_prep_tx() driver callback
to make sure that the virtual interface is granted immediate airtime
to be able to transmit the frame, in case that no beacon was heard
from the AP.

Ilan Peer 191da271ac mac80211: Do not disconnect on invalid operating class
Some APs include a non global operating class in their extended channel
switch information element. In such a case, as the operating class is not
known, mac80211 would decide to disconnect.

However the specification states that the operating class needs to be
taken from Annex E, but it does not specify from which table it should be
taken, so it is valid for an AP to use a non global operating class.

To avoid possibly unneeded disconnection, in such a case ignore the
operating class and assume that the current band is used, and if the
resulting channel and band configuration is invalid disconnect.
