Zhang Changzhong 3a36060bf2 atl1e: fix error return code in atl1e_probe()
Fix to return a negative error code from the error handling
case instead of 0, as done elsewhere in this function.

Thomas Gleixner 453590a8b6 net: atheros: Remove WARN_ON(in_interrupt())
in_interrupt() is ill defined and does not provide what the name
suggests. The usage especially in driver code is deprecated and a tree wide
effort to clean up and consolidate the (ab)usage of in_interrupt() and
related checks is happening.

In this case the check covers only parts of the contexts in which these
functions cannot be called. It fails to detect preemption or interrupt
disabled invocations.

As the functions which are invoked from at*_reinit_locked() contain a broad
variety of checks (always enabled or debug option dependent) which cover
all invalid conditions already, there is no point in having inconsistent
warnings in those drivers.

Just remove them.

Jesse Brandeburg d0ea5cbdc2 drivers/net/ethernet: clean up mis-targeted comments
As part of the W=1 cleanups for ethernet, a million [*] driver
comments had to be cleaned up to get the W=1 compilation to
succeed. This change finally makes the drivers/net/ethernet tree
compile with W=1 set on the command line. NOTE: The kernel uses
kdoc style (see Documentation/process/kernel-doc.rst) when
documenting code, not doxygen or other styles.

After this patch the x86_64 build has no warnings from W=1, however
scripts/kernel-doc says there are 1545 more warnings in source files, that
I need to develop a script to fix in a followup patch.

The errors fixed here are all kdoc of a few classes, with a few outliers:

Christophe JAILLET 85eb5bc337 net: atheros: switch from 'pci_' to 'dma_' API
The wrappers in include/linux/pci-dma-compat.h should go away.

The patch has been generated with the coccinelle script below and has been
hand modified to replace GFP_ with a correct flag.
It has been compile tested.

When memory is allocated in 'atl1e_setup_ring_resources()' (atl1e_main.c),
'atl1_setup_ring_resources()' (atl1.c) and 'atl2_setup_ring_resources()'
(atl2.c) GFP_KERNEL can be used because it can be called from a .ndo_open.

'atl1_setup_ring_resources()' (atl1.c) can also be called from a
'.set_ringparam' (see struct ethtool_ops) where sleep is also allowed.

Both cases are protected by 'rtnl_lock()' which is a mutex. So these
function can sleep.

call ndo_tx_timeout.

Kees Cook 6da2ec5605 treewide: kmalloc() -> kmalloc_array()
The kmalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kmalloc_array(). This
patch replaces cases of:

        kmalloc(a * b, gfp)

with:
        kmalloc_array(a * b, gfp)

as well as handling cases of:

        kmalloc(a * b * c, gfp)

with:

        kmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp)

as it's slightly less ugly than:

        kmalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp)

This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like:

        kmalloc(4 * 1024, gfp)

though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion.

Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were
dropped, since they're redundant.

The tools/ directory was manually excluded, since it has its own
implementation of kmalloc().

The Coccinelle script used for this was:

// Fix redundant parens around sizeof().

Kees Cook e99e88a9d2 treewide: setup_timer() -> timer_setup()
This converts all remaining cases of the old setup_timer() API into using
timer_setup(), where the callback argument is the structure already
holding the struct timer_list. These should have no behavioral changes,
since they just change which pointer is passed into the callback with
the same available pointers after conversion. It handles the following
examples, in addition to some other variations.

Casting from unsigned long:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
        struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data;
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, ptr);

and forced object casts:

    void my_callback(struct something *ptr)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, (unsigned long)ptr);

become:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *t)
    {
        struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer);
    ...
    }
    ...
    timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

Direct function assignments:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
        struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data;
    ...
    }
    ...
    ptr->my_timer.function = my_callback;

have a temporary cast added, along with converting the args:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *t)
    {
        struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer);
    ...
    }
    ...
    ptr->my_timer.function = (TIMER_FUNC_TYPE)my_callback;

And finally, callbacks without a data assignment:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

have their argument renamed to verify they're unused during conversion:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *unused)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

The conversion is done with the following Coccinelle script:

spatch --very-quiet --all-includes --include-headers \
	-I ./arch/x86/include -I ./arch/x86/include/generated \
	-I ./include -I ./arch/x86/include/uapi \
	-I ./arch/x86/include/generated/uapi -I ./include/uapi \
	-I ./include/generated/uapi --include ./include/linux/kconfig.h \
	--dir . \
	--cocci-file ~/src/data/timer_setup.cocci

atl1: min_mtu 42, max_mtu 10218

atl1e: min_mtu 42, max_mtu 8170

atl1c: min_mtu 42, max_mtu 6122/1500

- GbE hardware gets a max_mtu of 6122, slower hardware gets 1500.

alx: min_mtu 34, max_mtu 9256

- Not so sure that minimum MTU number is really what was intended, but
  that's what the math actually makes it out to be, due to max_frame
  manipulations and comparison in alx_change_mtu, rather than just
  comparing new_mtu. (I think 68 was the intended min_mtu value).

Andrea Merello 40dc9ab277 atl1e: enable support for NETIF_F_RXALL and NETIF_F_RXCRC features
This patch allows (optionally, via ethtool) the atl1e NIC to:
- Receive bad frames (runt, bad-fcs, etc..)
- Receive full frames without stripping the FCS.

This has been tested on my board by injecting runt and bad-fcs
frames with a FPGA-based device.

The particular scenario of receiving very short frames (<4 bytes)
without passing FCS to the upper layer has been also tested:
This could be potentially dangerous because the driver performs a
4 byte subtraction on the frame length, but I finally have NOT
added anything to avoid this because it seems the NIC always
discards frames so much short..
If someone still have some reason to worry about this, please
tell me.. I will add an explicit SW check..

Joe Perches 6ae97e834a atheros: Remove extern from function prototypes
There are a mix of function prototypes with and without extern
in the kernel sources. Standardize on not using extern for
function prototypes.

Function prototypes don't need to be written with extern.
extern is assumed by the compiler. Its use is as unnecessary as
using auto to declare automatic/local variables in a block.

Neil Horman 584ec43553 atl1e: unmap partially mapped skb on dma error and free skb
Ben Hutchings pointed out that my recent update to atl1e
in commit 352900b583
("atl1e: fix dma mapping warnings") was missing a bit of code.

Specifically it reset the hardware tx ring to its origional state when
we hit a dma error, but didn't unmap any exiting mappings from the
operation. This patch fixes that up. It also remembers to free the
skb in the event that an error occurs, so we don't leak. Untested, as
I don't have hardware. I think its pretty straightforward, but please
review closely.

The usual straighforward failure to check for dma_mapping_error after a map
operation is completed.

This patch should fix it, the reporter wandered off after filing this bz:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=954170

and I don't have hardware to test, but the fix is pretty straightforward, so I
figured I'd post it for review.
