Stephen Boyd a5ea13f025 pinctrl: qcom: Use platform_irq_count() instead of of_irq_count()
of_irq_count() is not an exported symbol (and it shouldn't be
used by platform drivers anyway) so use platform_irq_count()
instead. This allows us to make the qcom pinctrl drivers modular
again.

Linus Walleij b9164f0493 gpio: ssbi-mpp: Be sure to clamp return value
As we want gpio_chip .get() calls to be able to return negative
error codes and propagate to drivers, we need to go over all
drivers and make sure their return values are clamped to [0,1].
We do this by using the ret = !!(val) design pattern.

This code was also double-inverting a bool which makes no sense
so I removed that code and moved clamping toward the end.

Linus Walleij bda7c4c2b9 pinctrl: qcom: make PMIC drivers bool
commit ab4256cfea
"pinctrl: qcom: pmic-gpio/mpp: of_irq_count() == npins"
made the Qualcomm PMIC pin control drivers make use of
of_irq_count() which is not an exported function, making
modular builds fail.

Fix this by marking the drivers as compiled-in/bool.

Stephen Boyd ab4256cfea pinctrl: qcom: pmic-gpio/mpp: of_irq_count() == npins
The number of interrupts is always equal to the number of pins
provided by the PMIC gpio and MPP hardware blocks. Count the
number of irqs to figure out the number of pins instead of adding
more compatible strings or doing math on the reg property. This
should make the code more generic and ease the number of changes
we have to make to the driver for each new pmic revision.

Linus Walleij 58383c7842 gpio: change member .dev to .parent
The name .dev in a struct is normally reserved for a struct device
that is let us say a superclass to the thing described by the struct.
struct gpio_chip stands out by confusingly using a struct device *dev
to point to the parent device (such as a platform_device) that
represents the hardware. As we want to give gpio_chip:s real devices,
this is not working. We need to rename this member to parent.

This was done by two coccinelle scripts, I guess it is possible to
combine them into one, but I don't know such stuff. They look like
this:

@@
struct gpio_chip *var;
@@
-var->dev
+var->parent

and:

@@
struct gpio_chip var;
@@
-var.dev
+var.parent

and:

@@
struct bgpio_chip *var;
@@
-var->gc.dev
+var->gc.parent

Plus a few instances of bgpio that I couldn't figure out how
to teach Coccinelle to rewrite.

This patch hits all over the place, but I *strongly* prefer this
solution to any piecemal approaches that just exercise patch
mechanics all over the place. It mainly hits drivers/gpio and
drivers/pinctrl which is my own backyard anyway.

When building pinctrl-ssbi-gpio and pinctrl-ssbi-mpp for ARM64, we get
a compile warning about invalid types:

drivers/pinctrl/qcom/pinctrl-ssbi-mpp.c:766:17: warning: cast from pointer to integer of different size [-Wpointer-to-int-cast]

This changes the code so we cast the pointer to 'unsigned long', which

GPIO core:
 - Define and handle flags for open drain/open collector
   and open source/open emitter, also know as "single-ended"
   configurations.
 - Generic request/free operations that handle calling out
   to the (optional) pin control backend.
 - Some refactoring related to an ABI change that did not
   happen, yet provide useful.
 - Added a real-time compliance checklist. Many GPIO chips
   have irqchips, and need to think this over with the RT
   patches going upstream.
 - Restructure, fix and clean up Kconfig menus a bit.

 New drivers:
 - New driver for AMD Promony.
 - New driver for ACCES 104-IDIO-16, a port-mapped I/O
   card, ISA-style. Very retro.

 Subdriver changes:
 - OMAP changes to handle real time requirements.
 - Handle trigger types for edge and level IRQs on PL061
   properly. As this hardware is very common it needs to
   set a proper example for others to follow.
 - Some container_of() cleanups.
 - Delete the unused MSM driver in favor of the driver that
   is embedded inside the pin control driver.
 - Cleanup of the ath79 GPIO driver used by many, many
   OpenWRT router targets.
 - A consolidated IT87xx driver replacing the earlier
   very specific IT8761e driver.
 - Handle the TI TCA9539 in the PCA953x driver. Also
   handle ACPI devices in this subdriver.
 - Drop xilinx arch dependencies as these FPGAs seem to
   profilate over a few different architectures. MIPS and
   ARM come to mind.

Since commit 323de9efdf ("pinctrl: make pinctrl_register() return proper
error code"), pinctrl_register returns an error code rather than NULL on
failure. Update some drivers that were introduced more recently.

The semantic patch that makes this change is as follows:
(http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/)

// <smpl>

expression e,e1,e2;

e = pinctrl_register(...)
... when != e = e1
if (

     ...

Timur Tabi 8f1338cd80 pinctrl: add support for Qualcomm Technologies QDF2xxx ARM64 SoCs
Add the pinctrl driver for the Qualcomm Technologies QDF2xxx ARM64 SoCs,
which uses the Qualcomm Technologies TLMM pinctrl/gpio device. This
driver is probed via ACPI and uses the pinctrl-msm.c backend driver.

This driver is intended to be used only an ACPI-enabled system. As such,
UEFI will handle all pin control configuration, so this driver does not
provide pin control functions. It is effectively a GPIO-only driver.

The "function" of the MPP driver was inherited from the GPIO driver, but the
differences between the two hardware blocks makes both the driver and the

Instead of overloading the "normal" function with various modes this patch
transposes the pinmux function to represent the three operating modes of the
MPP (digital, analog and current sink). The properties of pin pairing and DTEST

Masahiro Yamada 323de9efdf pinctrl: make pinctrl_register() return proper error code
Currently, pinctrl_register() just returns NULL on error, so the
callers can not know the exact reason of the failure.

Some of the pinctrl drivers return -EINVAL, some -ENODEV, and some
-ENOMEM on error of pinctrl_register(), although the error code
might be different from the real cause of the error.

This commit reworks pinctrl_register() to return the appropriate
error code and modifies all of the pinctrl drivers to use IS_ERR()
for the error checking and PTR_ERR() for getting the error code.

The zynq and qcom-spmi pinctrl drivers both use pin_config_item arrays
to provide extra interfaces in debugfs. This structure and the
PCONFDUMP macro are not defined if CONFIG_DEBUG_FS is turned off,
so we get build errors like:

pinctrl/qcom/pinctrl-spmi-gpio.c:139:37: error: array type has incomplete element type
 static const struct pin_config_item pmic_conf_items[ARRAY_SIZE(pmic_gpio_bindings)] = {

Linus Walleij f684e4ac9f pinctrl: pinconf-generic: loose DT dependence
New pin controllers such as ACPI-based may also have custom properties
to parse, and should be able to use generic pin config. Let's make the

is custom parameters and not necessarily DT parameters.

This fixes a build regression for x86_64 on the zeroday kernel builds.

Linus Torvalds e6b5be2be4 Driver core patches for 3.19-rc1
Here's the set of driver core patches for 3.19-rc1.

 They are dominated by the removal of the .owner field in platform
 drivers. They touch a lot of files, but they are "simple" changes, just
 removing a line in a structure.

 Other than that, a few minor driver core and debugfs changes. There are
 some ath9k patches coming in through this tree that have been acked by
 the wireless maintainers as they relied on the debugfs changes.

 Everything has been in linux-next for a while.

Linus Torvalds ea584595fc This is the bulk of GPIO changes for the v3.18 development
cycle:

 - Increase the default ARCH_NR_GPIO from 256 to 512. This
   was done to avoid having a custom <asm/gpio.h> header for
   the x86 architecture - GPIO is custom and complicated
   enough as it is already! We want to move to a radix to
   store the descriptors going forward, and finally get rid
   of this fixed array size altogether.

 - Endgame patching of the gpio_remove() semantics initiated
   by Abdoulaye Berthe. It is not accepted by the system that
   the removal of a GPIO chip fails during e.g. reboot or
   shutdown, and therefore the return value has now painfully
   been refactored away. For special cases like GPIO expanders
   on a hot-pluggable bus like USB, we may later add some
   gpiochip_try_remove() call, but for the cases we have now,
   return values are moot.

 - Some incremental refactoring of the gpiolib core and ACPI
   GPIO library for more descriptor usage.

 - Refactor the chained IRQ handler set-up method to handle
   also threaded, nested interrupts and set up the parent IRQ
   correctly. Switch STMPE and TC3589x drivers to use this
   registration method.

 - Add a .irq_not_threaded flag to the struct gpio_chip, so
   that also GPIO expanders that block but are still not
   using threaded IRQ handlers.

 - New drivers for the ARM64 X-Gene SoC GPIO controller.

 - The syscon GPIO driver has been improved to handle the
   "DSP GPIO" found on the TI Keystone 2 SoC:s.

 - ADNP driver switched to use gpiolib irqchip helpers.

 - Refactor the DWAPB driver to support being instantiated
   from and MFD cell (platform device).

 - Incremental feature improvement in the Zynq, MCP23S08,
   DWAPB, OMAP, Xilinx and Crystalcove drivers.

 - Various minor fixes.

Josh Cartwright cf1fc18762 pinctrl: qcom: use restart_notifier mechanism for ps_hold
By converting to the restart_notifier mechanism for restart, we allow
for other mechanisms, like the watchdog, to be used for restart in the
case where PS_HOLD has failed to reset the chip.

Since this mechanism may be one of several mechanisms registered, change
the post-ps_hold write timeout to be a more reasonable 1 second instead
of 10 seconds.

Choose priority 128, as according to documentation, this mechanism "is
sufficient to restart the entire system".

Georgi Djakov f712c554a7 pinctrl: qcom: Make the target processor value configurable
Currently the value used to specify that interrupts from the gpio should
be routed to the application processor is hardcoded for all Qualcomm SoCs.
But the new APQ8084 SoC uses a different value. To resolve this, we make

to use the current value, and only for APQ8084 we use the new value.

Georgi Djakov c4f6f9c0f3 pinctrl: qcom: Add APQ8084 pinctrl support
This patchset adds pinctrl support for the Qualcomm APQ8084 platform.

This set of patches adds pinctrl support for the Qualcomm APQ8084 platform.
The first patch adds the pin definitions. The second patch contains the
devicetree binding documentation. The third patch adds the DT node.
The last patch makes the INTR_TARGET_PROC_APPS value configurable and
defines it for each existing SoC.

Tested on IFC6540 board.

Changes since v3:
 - Fixed the sdc valid pin values in the binding documentation - sdc2
   instead of sdc3. (suggested by Bjorn Andersson)

Changes since v2:
 - Fixed some incorrect bits and offsets. (suggested by Bjorn Andersson)
 - Updated binding documentation to follow the format of msm8960.
   (suggested by Bjorn Andersson)
 - Added fourth patch, which removes the hardcoded INTR_TARGET_PROC_APPS
   value and makes it configurable. Also we keep the current value for
   existing SoCs. (suggested by Bjorn Andersson)

Changes since v1:
 - Updated the total number of pins (suggested by Bjorn Andersson)
 - Added the missing pin info (provided by Andy Gross)
 - Updated groups and functions to be consistent with other pinctrls.
   (suggested by Andy Gross)
 - Removed unused functions, qdss and test pins. (suggested by Andy Gross)
 - Updated the documentation with the possible functions.

commit 2243a87d90
"pinctrl: avoid duplicated calling enable_pinmux_setting for a pin"
removed the .disable callback from the struct pinmux_ops,
making the .enable() callback the only remaining callback.

However .enable() is a bad name as it seems to imply that a
muxing can also be disabled. Rename the callback to .set_mux()
and also take this opportunity to clean out any remaining
mentions of .disable() from the documentation.
