While thinking about sporadic failures of perf_pmu/rc6-runtime-pm* tests
on some CI machines I have concluded that: a) the PMU readout of RC6 can
race against runtime PM transitions, and b) there are other reasons than
being runtime suspended which can cause intel_runtime_pm_get_if_in_use to
fail.
Therefore when estimating RC6 the code needs to assert we are indeed in
suspended state, and if not, the best we can do is return the last known
RC6 value.
Without this check we can calculate the estimated value based on un-
initialized or inappropriate internal state, which can result in over-
estimation, or in any case incorrect value being returned.

On Geminilake, sometimes audio card is not getting
detected after reboot. This is a spurious issue happening on
Geminilake. HW codec and HD audio controller link was going
out of sync for which there was a fix in i915 driver but
was not getting invoked for GLK. Extending this fix to GLK as well.

drm: gem_cma_helper.c: Allow importing of contiguous scatterlists with nents > 1
Without this the following pipeline didn't work:
domU:
1. xen-front allocates a non-contig buffer
2. creates grants out of it
dom0:
3. converts the grants into a dma-buf. Since they're non-contig, the
scatter-list is huge.
4. imports it into rcar-du, which requires dma-contig memory for
scanout.
-> On this given platform there's an IOMMU, so in theory this should
work. But in practice this failed, because of the huge number of sg
entries, even though the IOMMU driver mapped it all into a dma-contig
range.
With a guest-contig buffer allocated in step 1, this problem doesn't
exist. But there's technically no reason to require guest-contig
memory for xen buffer sharing using grants.
Given all that, the xen-front cma support is not needed and should be
removed.

Add a selftest to ensure that we restore the whitelisted registers after
rewrite the registers everytime they might be scrubbed, e.g. module
load, reset and resume. For the other volatile workaround registers, we
export their presence via debugfs and check in igt/gem_workarounds.
However, we don't export the whitelist and rather than do so, let's test
them directly in the kernel.
The test we use is to read the registers back from the CS (this helps us
be sure that the registers will be valid for MI_LRI etc). In order to
generate the expected list, we split intel_whitelist_workarounds_emit
into two phases, the first to build the list and the second to apply.
Inside the test, we only build the list and then check that list against
the hw.

Hardware understands the regamma LUT as a piecewise linear function,
with points spaced exponentially along the range. We previously
programmed the LUT for range [2^-10, 2^0). This causes (normalized)
color values of 1 (=2^0) to miss the programmed LUT, and fall onto the
end region.
For DCE, the end region is extrapolated using a single (base, slope)
pair, using the max y-value from the last point in the curve as base.
This presents a problem, since this value affects all three color
channels. Scaling down the intensity of say - the blue regamma curve -
will not affect it's end region. This is especially noticiable when
using RedShift. It scales down the blue and green channels, but leaves
full-intensity colors unshifted.
Therefore, extend the range to cover [2^-10, 2^1) by programming another
hardware segment, containing only one point. That way, we won't be
hitting the end region.
Note that things are a bit different for DCN, since the end region can
be set per-channel.

We can refine our current execlists->queue_priority if we inspect
ELSP[1] rather than the head of the unsubmitted queue. Currently, we use
the unsubmitted queue and say that if a subsequent request is more
important than the current queue, we will rerun the submission tasklet
to evaluate the need for preemption. However, we only want to preempt if
we need to jump ahead of a currently executing request in ELSP. The
second reason for running the submission tasklet is amalgamate requests
into the active context on ELSP[0] to avoid a stall when ELSP[0] drains.
(Though repeatedly amalgamating requests into the active context and
triggering many lite-restore is off question gain, the goal really is to
put a context into ELSP[1] to cover the interrupt.) So if instead of
looking at the head of the queue, we look at the context in ELSP[1] we
can answer both of the questions more accurately -- we don't need to
rerun the submission tasklet unless our new request is important enough
to feed into, at least, ELSP[1].

Resetting the GPU doesn't affect the RPS/RC6 state, so we can stop
forcibly reloading the registers.
Ville suggested this many moons ago, I said at that time that sanitizing
was no harm and meant that our bookkeeping was kept consistent with the
HW. However, in a forthcoming series, we want to split rps/rc6 GT
powermanagement and one of the key simplifications is the control of
when we enable it. Performing a crude sanitize in the middle of
i915_gem_reset() is then a huge wart.

DDB allocation optimization algorithm requires/assumes ddb allocation for
any memory C-state level DDB value to be as high as level below the

When doing a modeset where the sink is transitioning from D3 to D0 , it
would sometimes be possible for the initial power_up_phy() to start
timing out. This would only be observed in the last action before the
sink went into D3 mode was intel_dp_sink_dpms(DRM_MODE_DPMS_OFF). We
originally thought this might be an issue with us accidentally shutting
off the aux block when putting the sink into D3, but since the DP spec
mandates that sinks must wake up within 1ms while we have 100ms to
respond to an ESI irq, this didn't really add up. Turns out that the
problem is more subtle then that:
It turns out that the timeout is from us not enabling DPMS on the MST
hub before actually trying to initiate sideband communications. This
would cause the first sideband communication (power_up_phy()), to start
timing out because the sink wasn't ready to respond. Afterwards, we
would call intel_dp_sink_dpms(DRM_MODE_DPMS_ON) in
intel_ddi_pre_enable_dp(), which would actually result in waking up the
sink so that sideband requests would work again.
Since DPMS is what lets us actually bring the hub up into a state where
sideband communications become functional again, we just need to make
sure to enable DPMS on the display before attempting to perform sideband
communications.
Changes since v1:
- Remove comment above if (!intel_dp->is_mst) - vsryjala
- Move intel_dp_sink_dpms() for MST into intel_dp_post_disable_mst() to
keep enable/disable paths symmetrical
- Improve commit message - dhnkrn
Changes since v2:
- Only send DPMS off when we're disabling the last sink, and only send
DPMS on when we're enabling the first sink - dhnkrn
Changes since v3:
- Check against is_mst, not intel_dp->is_mst - dhnkrn/vsyrjala

are marked executable:
drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/vce_v4_0.c
drivers/net/ethernet/cadence/macb_ptp.c
A simple git command line to show executable C/asm/header files is this:
git ls-files -s '*.[chsS]' | grep '^100755'
and then you can fix them up with scripting by just feeding that output
into:
| cut -f2 | xargs chmod -x
and commit it.
Which is exactly what this commit does.

Currently, we rely on inspecting the hangcheck state from within the
i915_reset() routines to determine which engines were guilty of the
hang. This is problematic for cases where we want to run
i915_handle_error() and call i915_reset() independently of hangcheck.
Instead of relying on the indirect parameter passing, turn it into an
explicit parameter providing the set of stalled engines which then are
treated as guilty until proven innocent.
While we are removing the implicit stalled parameter, also make the
reason into an explicit parameter to i915_reset(). We still need a
back-channel for i915_handle_error() to hand over the task to the locked
waiter, but let's keep that its own channel rather than incriminate
another.
This leaves stalled/seqno as being private to hangcheck, with no more
nefarious snooping by reset, be it whole-device or per-engine. \o/
The only real issue now is that this makes it crystal clear that we
don't actually do any testing of hangcheck per se in
drv_selftest/live_hangcheck, merely of resets!

If we are resetting just one engine, we know it has stalled. So we can
pass the stalled parameter directly to i915_gem_reset_engine(), which
alleviates the necessity to poke at the generic engine->hangcheck.stalled
magic variable, leaving that under control of hangcheck as its name
implies. Other than simplifying by removing the indirect parameter along
this path, this allows us to introduce new reset mechanisms that run
independently of hangcheck.

Since we already do the work for idling, expose the guts as a new
function that we can then reuse.

Calling GEM from inside i915_request looks to be a bit of a layering

actually wait for the aforementioned hang, just until the request is
running and we are *ready* to inject a hang. A quick

BSpec says:
"Second level interrupt events are stored in the GT INT DW. GT INT DW is
a double buffered structure. A snapshot of events is taken when SW reads
GT INT DW. From the time of read to the time of SW completely clearing
GT INT DW (to indicate end of service), all incoming interrupts are logged
in a secondary storage structure. this guarantees that the record of
interrupts SW is servicing will not change while under service".
We read GT INT DW in several places now:
- The IRQ handler (banks 0 and 1) where, hopefully, it is completely
cleared (operation now covered with the irq lock).
- The 'reset' interrupts functions for RPS and GuC logs, where we clear
the bit we are interested in and leave the others for the normal
interrupt handler.
- The 'enable' interrupts functions for RPS and GuC logs, as a measure
of precaution. Here we could relax a bit and don't check GT INT DW
at all or, if we do, at least we should clear the offending bit
(which is what this patch does).
Note that, if every bit is cleared on reading GT INT DW, the register
won't be locked. Also note that, according to the BSpec, GT INT DW
cannot be cleared without first servicing the Selector & Shared IIR
registers.

The bits used to reset the different engines/domains have changed in
GEN11, this patch maps the reset engine mask bits with the new bits
in the reset control register.
v2: Use shift-left instead of BIT macro to match the file style (Paulo).
v3: Reuse gen8_reset_engines (Daniele).
v4: Do not call intel_uncore_forcewake_reset after reset, we may be
using the forcewake to read protected registers elsewhere and those
results may be clobbered by the concurrent dropping of forcewake.

We don't handle resetting the kernel context very well, or presumably any
context executing its breadcrumb commands in the ring as opposed to the
batchbuffer and flush. If we trigger a device reset twice in quick
succession while the kernel context is executing, we may end up skipping
the breadcrumb. This is really only a problem for the selftest as
normally there is a large interlude between resets (hangcheck), or we
focus on resetting just one engine and so avoid repeatedly resetting
innocents.
Something to try would be a preempt-to-idle to quiesce the engine before
reset, so that innocent contexts would be spared the reset.

In the effort to remove all VLAs from the kernel[1], it is desirable to
build with -Wvla. However, this warning is overly pessimistic, in that
it is only happy with stack array sizes that are declared as constant
expressions, and not constant values. One case of this is the
evaluation of the max() macro which, due to its construction, ends up
converting constant expression arguments into a constant value result.
All attempts to rewrite this macro with __builtin_constant_p() failed
with older compilers (e.g. gcc 4.4)[2]. However, Martin Uecker,
constructed[3] a mind-shattering solution that works everywhere.
Cthulhu fhtagn!
This patch updates the min()/max() macros to evaluate to a constant
expression when called on constant expression arguments. This removes
several false-positive stack VLA warnings from an x86 allmodconfig build
when -Wvla is added:
$ diff -u before.txt after.txt | grep ^-
-drivers/input/touchscreen/cyttsp4_core.c:871:2: warning: ISO C90 forbids variable length array ‘ids’ [-Wvla]
-fs/btrfs/tree-checker.c:344:4: warning: ISO C90 forbids variable length array ‘namebuf’ [-Wvla]
-lib/vsprintf.c:747:2: warning: ISO C90 forbids variable length array ‘sym’ [-Wvla]
-net/ipv4/proc.c:403:2: warning: ISO C90 forbids variable length array ‘buff’ [-Wvla]
-net/ipv6/proc.c:198:2: warning: ISO C90 forbids variable length array ‘buff’ [-Wvla]
-net/ipv6/proc.c:218:2: warning: ISO C90 forbids variable length array ‘buff64’ [-Wvla]
This also updates two cases where different enums were being compared
and explicitly casts them to int (which matches the old side-effect of
the single-evaluation code): one in tpm/tpm_tis_core.h, and one in
drm/drm_color_mgmt.c.

Commit cc6b741c6f ("drm: sti: remove useless fields from vtg
structure") reworked some code inside of this driver and made it select
CONFIG_OF. This results in the entire OF layer being enabled when
building an allmodconfig on ia64. OF on ia64 is completely unsupported
so this isn't a great state of affairs.
The 0day robot noticed a link-time failure on ia64 caused by
using of_node_to_nid() in an otherwise unrelated driver. The
generic fallback for of_node_to_nid() only exists when:
defined(CONFIG_OF) && defined(CONFIG_NUMA) == false
Since CONFIG_NUMA is usually selected for IA64 we get the link failure.
Fix this by making the driver depend on OF rather than selecting it,
odds are that was the original intent.

When cancelling the requests and clearing out the ports following a
successful preemption completion, also clear the active flag. I had
assumed that all preemptions would be followed by an immediate dequeue
(preserving the active user flag), but under rare circumstances we may
be triggering a preemption for the second port only for it to have
completed before the preemotion kicks in; leaving execlists->active set
even though the system is now idle.
We can clear the flag inside the common execlists_cancel_port_requests()
as the other users also expect the semantics of active being cleared.

Two years ago I tried an AMD Radeon E8860 embedded GPU with the drm driver.
The dmesg output included driver warnings about an invalid PCIe lane width.
Tracking the problem back led to si_set_pcie_lane_width_in_smc().
The calculation of the lane widths via ATOM_PPLIB_PCIE_LINK_WIDTH_MASK and
ATOM_PPLIB_PCIE_LINK_WIDTH_SHIFT macros did not increment the resulting
value, per the comment in pptable.h ("lanes - 1"), and per usage elsewhere.
Applying the increment silenced the warnings.
The code has not changed since, so either my analysis was incorrect or the
bug has gone unnoticed. Hence submitting this as an RFC.

Add support for Xen para-virtualized frontend display driver.
Accompanying backend [1] is implemented as a user-space application
and its helper library [2], capable of running as a Weston client
or DRM master.
Configuration of both backend and frontend is done via
Xen guest domain configuration options [3].
Driver limitations:
1. Only primary plane without additional properties is supported.
2. Only one video mode supported which resolution is configured
via XenStore.
3. All CRTCs operate at fixed frequency of 60Hz.
1. Implement Xen bus state machine for the frontend driver according to
the state diagram and recovery flow from display para-virtualized
protocol: xen/interface/io/displif.h.
2. Read configuration values from Xen store according
to xen/interface/io/displif.h protocol:
- read connector(s) configuration
- read buffer allocation mode (backend/frontend)
3. Handle Xen event channels:
- create for all configured connectors and publish
corresponding ring references and event channels in Xen store,
so backend can connect
- implement event channels interrupt handlers
- create and destroy event channels with respect to Xen bus state
4. Implement shared buffer handling according to the
para-virtualized display device protocol at xen/interface/io/displif.h:
- handle page directories according to displif protocol:
- allocate and share page directories
- grant references to the required set of pages for the
page directory
- allocate xen balllooned pages via Xen balloon driver
with alloc_xenballooned_pages/free_xenballooned_pages
- grant references to the required set of pages for the
shared buffer itself
- implement pages map/unmap for the buffers allocated by the
backend (gnttab_map_refs/gnttab_unmap_refs)
5. Implement kernel modesetiing/connector handling using
DRM simple KMS helper pipeline:
- implement KMS part of the driver with the help of DRM
simple pipepline helper which is possible due to the fact
that the para-virtualized driver only supports a single
(primary) plane:
- initialize connectors according to XenStore configuration
- handle frame done events from the backend
- create and destroy frame buffers and propagate those
to the backend
- propagate set/reset mode configuration to the backend on display
enable/disable callbacks
- send page flip request to the backend and implement logic for
reporting backend IO errors on prepare fb callback
- implement virtual connector handling:
- support only pixel formats suitable for single plane modes
- make sure the connector is always connected
- support a single video mode as per para-virtualized driver
configuration
6. Implement GEM handling depending on driver mode of operation:
depending on the requirements for the para-virtualized environment,
namely requirements dictated by the accompanying DRM/(v)GPU drivers
running in both host and guest environments, number of operating
modes of para-virtualized display driver are supported:
- display buffers can be allocated by either
frontend driver or backend
- display buffers can be allocated to be contiguous
in memory or not
Note! Frontend driver itself has no dependency on contiguous memory for
its operation.
6.1. Buffers allocated by the frontend driver.
The below modes of operation are configured at compile-time via
frontend driver's kernel configuration.
6.1.1. Front driver configured to use GEM CMA helpers
This use-case is useful when used with accompanying DRM/vGPU driver
in guest domain which was designed to only work with contiguous
buffers, e.g. DRM driver based on GEM CMA helpers: such drivers can
only import contiguous PRIME buffers, thus requiring frontend driver
to provide such. In order to implement this mode of operation
para-virtualized frontend driver can be configured to use
GEM CMA helpers.
6.1.2. Front driver doesn't use GEM CMA
If accompanying drivers can cope with non-contiguous memory then, to
lower pressure on CMA subsystem of the kernel, driver can allocate
buffers from system memory.
Note! If used with accompanying DRM/(v)GPU drivers this mode of operation
may require IOMMU support on the platform, so accompanying DRM/vGPU
hardware can still reach display buffer memory while importing PRIME
buffers from the frontend driver.
6.2. Buffers allocated by the backend
This mode of operation is run-time configured via guest domain
configuration through XenStore entries.
For systems which do not provide IOMMU support, but having specific
requirements for display buffers it is possible to allocate such buffers
at backend side and share those with the frontend.
For example, if host domain is 1:1 mapped and has DRM/GPU hardware
expecting physically contiguous memory, this allows implementing
zero-copying use-cases.
Note, while using this scenario the following should be considered:
a) If guest domain dies then pages/grants received from the backend
cannot be claimed back
b) Misbehaving guest may send too many requests to the
backend exhausting its grant references and memory
(consider this from security POV).
Note! Configuration options 1.1 (contiguous display buffers) and 2
(backend allocated buffers) are not supported at the same time.
7. Handle communication with the backend:
- send requests and wait for the responses according
to the displif protocol
- serialize access to the communication channel
- time-out used for backend communication is set to 3000 ms
- manage display buffers shared with the backend

findout that pannels can do selective update when the y-coordinate
is also included in SDP, that is why it is required to run PSR2 in
i915.
So moving to only one place the sink requirements that the actual
driver needs to enable PSR2.
Also intel_psr2_config_valid() is called every time the crtc config
is computed, wasting some time every time it was checking for
Y coordinate requirement.
This allow us to nuke y_cord_support and some of VSC setup code that
was handling a scenario that would never happen(PSR2 without Y
coordinate).
Also here renaming intel_dp_get_y_cord_status() to
intel_dp_get_y_coord_required() as it more accurate to the name and
function of bit according to eDP spec.

eDP spec states that aux frame is required to do PSR2 selective
update but i915 don't fully implement it. It sends the aux frame
sync messages but the value is always zero as the GTC is not enabled
in driver.
Through tests was findout that pannels can do selective update when
the y-coordinate is also included in SDP, that is why it is required
to run PSR2 in i915.
A dummy value is not useful at all to sink, so removing everything
related to aux frame sync, if GTC is enabled we can bring this back.

Only sleep and repeat when asked for a full device reset (ALL_ENGINES)
and avoid using sleeping waits when asked for a per-engine reset. The
goal is to be able to use a per-engine reset from hardirq/softirq/timer
context. A consequence is that our individual wait timeouts are a
thousand times shorter, on the order of a hundred microseconds rather
than hundreds of millisecond. This may make hitting the timeouts more
common, but hopefully the fallover to the full-device reset will be
sufficient to pick up the pieces.
Note, that the sleeps inside older gen (pre-gen8) have been left as they
are only used in full device reset mode.

drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() needs to release the reference held by
plane->fb. Since commit 49d70aeaec ("drm/atomic-helper: Fix leak in
disable_all") we're doing that by calling drm_atomic_clean_old_fb() in
drm_atomic_helper_disable_all(). This also leaves plane->fb == NULL
afterwards. However, since drm_atomic_helper_disable_all() is also
used by the i915 gpu reset code
drm_atomic_helper_commit_duplicated_state() then has to undo the
damage and put the correct plane->fb pointers back in (and also
adjust the ref counts to match again as well).
That approach doesn't work so well for load detection as nothing
sets up the plane->old_fb pointers for us. This causes us to
leak an extra reference for each plane->fb when
drm_atomic_helper_commit_duplicated_state() calls
drm_atomic_clean_old_fb() after load detection.
To fix this let's call drm_atomic_clean_old_fb() only for
drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() as that's the only time we need to
actually drop the plane->fb references. In all the other cases
(load detection, gpu reset) we want to leave plane->fb alone.

Tvrtko uncovered a fun issue with recovering from a wedge device. In his
tests, he wedged the driver by injecting an unrecoverable hang whilst a
batch was spinning. As we reset the gpu in the middle of the spinner,
when resumed it would continue on from the next instruction in the ring
and write it's breadcrumb. However, on wedging we updated our
bookkeeping to indicate that the GPU had completed executing and would
restart from after the breadcrumb; so the emission of the stale
breadcrumb from before the reset came as a bit of a surprise.
A simple fix is to when rebinding the context into the GPU, we update
the ring register state in the context image to match our bookkeeping.
We already have to update the RING_START and RING_TAIL, so updating
RING_HEAD as well is trivial. This works because whenever we unbind the
context, we keep the bookkeeping in check; and on wedging we unbind all
contexts.

mipi_dbi_enable_flush() wants to call the fb->dirty() hook from the
bowels of the .atomic_enable() hook. That prevents us from taking the
plane mutex in fb->dirty() unless we also plumb down the acquire
context.
Instead it seems simpler to split the fb->dirty() into a tinydrm
specific lower level hook that can be called from
mipi_dbi_enable_flush() and from a generic higher level
tinydrm_fb_dirty() helper. As we don't have a tinydrm specific
vfuncs table we'll just stick it into tinydrm_device directly
for now.

It's only used to protect our page list, and only when we know we have
a full reference. This means none of these code paths can ever race
with the final unref, and hence we do not need dev->struct_mutex
serialization and can simply switch to our own locking.
For more context the only magic the locked gem_free_object provides is
that it prevents concurrent final unref (and destruction) of gem
objects while anyone is holding dev->struct_mutex. This was used by
i915 (and other drivers) to implement eviction handling with less
headaches.

GVT-g dispatches request to host i915 and depends on i915 notify
ring interrupt mechanism to check completion of request.
For now MI_USER_INTERRUPT in guest requests is passed through
in GVT-g cmd parser and i915 does not use it, which causes
unnecessary interrupt handling in i915.
On the other hand, if several requests from guest are combined into
one request in and contain MI_USER_INTERRUPT in the middle of
combined request. GVT-g still has to wait on the whole request to
complete to inject user interrupts to guest.
This patch makes all the MI_USER_INTERRUPT nop to save some interrupt

In some places we end up converting switch statements to a series of
if/else, particularly when introducing helper functions to handle a
group of cases. It's tempting to either leave a wrong warning (since now
we don't have a switch case anymore) or to convert to WARN(1, ...),
but we can just provide a better message and avoid the doubt when such
conversions arrise.
Introducing a warning inside i915_driver_load() just for tests we get:

commit dd9f31c7a3
Author: Imre Deak <imre.deak@intel.com>
Date: Wed Aug 16 17:46:07 2017 +0300
drm/i915/gen9+: Set same power state before hibernation image
save/restore
during hibernation/suspend the power domain functionality got disabled,
after which resume could leave it incorrectly disabled if the ACPI
target state was S0 during suspend and i915 was not loaded by the loader
kernel.
This was caused by not considering if we resumed from hibernation as the
condition for power domains reiniting.
Fix this by simply tracking if we suspended power domains during system
suspend and reinit power domains accordingly during resume. This will
result in reiniting power domains always when resuming from hibernation,
regardless of the platform and whether or not i915 is loaded by the
loader kernel.
The reason we didn't catch this earlier is that the enabled/disabled
state of power domains during PMSG_FREEZE/PMSG_QUIESCE is platform
and kernel config dependent: on my SKL the target state is S4
during PMSG_FREEZE and (with the driver loaded in the loader kernel)
S0 during PMSG_QUIESCE. On the reporter's machine it's S0 during
PMSG_FREEZE but (contrary to this) power domains are not initialized
during PMSG_QUIESCE since i915 is not loaded in the loader kernel, or
it's loaded but without the DMC firmware being available.

We were relying on the uncached reads when processing the CSB to provide
ourselves with the serialisation with the interrupt handler (so we could
detect new interrupts in the middle of processing the old one). However,
in commit 767a983ab2 ("drm/i915/execlists: Read the context-status HEAD
from the HWSP") those uncached reads were eliminated (on one path at
least) and along with them our serialisation. The result is that we
would very rarely miss notification of a new interrupt and leave a
context-switch unprocessed, hanging the GPU.

If bios sets up an MST output and hardware state readout code sees this is
an SST configuration, when disabling the encoder we end up calling
->post_disable_dp() hook instead of the MST version. Consequently, we write
to the DP_SET_POWER dpcd to set it D3 state. Further along when we try
enable the encoder in MST mode, POWER_UP_PHY transaction fails to power up
the MST hub. This results in continuous link training failures which keep
the system busy delaying boot. We could identify bios MST boot discrepancy
and handle it accordingly but a simple way to solve this is to write to the
DP_SET_POWER dpcd for MST too.

Since we may attempt to reconfigure SCDC when the sink has already been

that are 100% expected in that case. Just leave it up to the caller
whether to print an error message or not, and just output debug
messages from the helper itself.

Since gem objects is the only thing we allow drivers to create
themselves (all the kms/prime/syncobj stuff is handled by the core) no
other functions seem to be in need of this clarification.

These tables are used on voltage vswing sequence initialization on
Icelake.
The swing_sel on the spec's table is defined in a 4 bits binary like
1010. However the register bits are split in upper 1 bit swing_sel
and lower 3 bits swing sel.
In this table here we store this value as a single value in hex like
it is mentioned in the Bspec and split it to the upper and lower bit
values only while programming the registers.
For instance: b1010 is written as 0xA and then while writing to the
register, the upper 1 bit is obtained by (0xA & 0x8) and shifting by
appropriate bits while lower 3 bits are obtained by (0xA & 0x7) and
shifting by appropriate bits.
Some of the columns need to be updated after the spec is updated.

drm/i915/gen9+: Set same power state before hibernation image
save/restore
during hibernation/suspend the power domain functionality got disabled,
after which resume could leave it incorrectly disabled if the ACPI
target state was S0 during suspend and i915 was not loaded by the loader

After resetting the GPU (or subset of engines), call synchronize_irq()
to flush any pending irq before proceeding with the cleanup. For a
device level reset, we disable the interupts around the reset, but when
resetting just one engine, we have to avoid such global disabling. This
leaves us open to an interrupt arriving for the engine as we try to
reset it. We already do try to flush the IIR following the reset, but we
have to ensure that the in-flight interrupt does not land after we start
cleaning up after the reset; enter synchronize_irq().
As it current stands, we very rarely, but fatally, see sequences such as:
2.... 57964564us : execlists_reset_prepare: rcs0
2.... 57964613us : execlists_reset: rcs0 seqno=424

Using engine->irq_posted for execlists, we are not always serialised by
the tasklet as we supposed. On the reset paths, the tasklet is disabled
and ignored. Instead, we manipulate the engine->irq_posted directly to
account for the reset, but if an interrupt fired before the reset and so
wrote to engine->irq_posted, that write may not be flushed from the
local CPU's cacheline until much later as the tasklet is already active
and so does not generate a mb(). To correctly serialise the interrupt
with reset, we need serialisation on the set_bit() itself.
And at last Mika can be happy.
