Heiner Kallweit cb48b3698f [media] media: rc: nuvoton: remove interrupt handling for wakeup
There is a rudimentary ISR for handling interrupts generated by the
wakeup part of the chip. Interrupts however have never been enabled
in the wakeup part.
Also, now that we can set the wakeup sequence via sysfs, there's in
general no need to enable interrupts in the wakeup part.

Hans Verkuil d54fc3bbc2 [media] rc-main: fix kernel oops after unloading keymap module
When the rc_map table is created the char pointer of the name of the keymap
is copied to the rc_map->name field. However, this pointer points to memory
from the keymap module itself.

Since these keymap modules are not refcounted, that means anyone can call
rmmod to unload that module. Which is not a big deal because the contents of
the map is all copied to rc_map, except for the keymap name.

So after a keymap module is unloaded the name pointer has become stale. Unloading
the rc-core module will now cause a kernel oops in rc_dev_uevent().

The solution is to kstrdup the name so there are no more references to the
keymap module remaining.

Ivaylo Dimitrov 4406d52a0b ir-rx51: Fix build after multiarch changes broke it
The ir-rx51 driver for n900 has been disabled since the multiarch
changes as plat include directory no longer is SoC specific.

Let's fix it with minimal changes to pass the dmtimer calls in
pdata. Then the following changes can be done while things can
be tested to be working for each change:

1. Change the non-pwm dmtimer to use just hrtimer if possible

2. Change the pwm dmtimer to use Linux PWM API with the new
   drivers/pwm/pwm-omap-dmtimer.c and remove the direct calls
   to dmtimer functions

3. Parse configuration from device tree and drop the pdata

Heiner Kallweit 449c1fcd86 [media] media: rc: nuvoton: support reading / writing wakeup sequence via sysfs
This patch adds a binary attribute /sys/class/rc/rc?/wakeup_data which
allows to read / write the wakeup sequence.

In combination with the core extension for exposing the most recent raw
packet this allows to easily define and set a wakeup sequence.

At least on my Zotac CI321 the BIOS resets the wakeup sequence at each boot
to a factory default. Therefore I use a udev rule
SUBSYSTEM=="rc", DRIVERS=="nuvoton-cir", ACTION=="add", RUN+="<script>"
with the script basically doing
cat <stored wakeup sequence> >/sys${DEVPATH}/wakeup_data

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 078600f514 [media] rc-core: allow calling rc_open with device not initialized
The device initialization completes only after calling
input_register_device(). However, rc_open() can be called while
the device is being registered by the input/evdev core. So, we
can't expect that rc_dev->initialized to be true.

Change the logic to don't require initialized == true at rc_open
and change the type of initialized to be atomic.

this way, we can check for it earlier where it is really needed,
without needing to lock the mutex just for testing it.

Tested with nuvoton_cir driver on a NUC5i7RYB with CIR integrated on it.

Let's fix it by adding a var that will tell when the device is
initialized. Any calls before that will return a -EINVAL.

That should prevent the race issues.

Only handle an interrupt if at least one combination of event bit

Previously it was just checked that at least one event bit and

This fixes issues like the following which was caused by
interrupt sharing:
An interrupt intended for nvt_cir_isr was handled by nvt_cir_wake_isr
first and because status bit CIR_WAKE_IRSTS_IR_PENDING was set
the wake fifo was accidently cleared.

This patch also fixes the bug that nvt_cir_wake_isr returned IRQ_HANDLED

Heiner Kallweit fb16aaf58c [media] nuvoton-cir: fix setting ioport base address
At least on Zotac CI321 ACPI provides an ioport range for the wake up part
but accessing these ioports has no effect.
Instead the ioport base address is set to another value already
(0xa20 in my case) and accessing this ioport range works.

Therefore set a new ioport base address only if the current ioport base
address is 0 (register reset default).

The need to use the existing base address instead of trying to set
an own one doesn't seem to be limited to this specific device as other
drivers like hwmon/nct6775 do it the same way.

This change was successfully tested on the mentioned device.
And the change should be generic enough to not break the driver for
other chips (however due to lack of appropriate hardware I wasn't
able to test this).

Heiner Kallweit 464254e5db [media] media: rc: raw: improve FIFO handling
The FIFO is used for ir_raw_event records, however for some historic
reason the FIFO is used on a per byte basis. IMHO this adds unneeded
complexity. Therefore set up the FIFO for ir_raw_event records.

This also allows to define the FIFO statically as part of
ir_raw_event_ctrl instead of having to allocate the FIFO dynamically.
In addition:

- When writing into the FIFO and it's full return ENOSPC instead of
  ENOMEM thus making it easier to tell between "FIFO full" and
  "Dynamic memory allocation failed" when the error is propagated to
  a higher level.
  Also add an error message.

- When reading from the FIFO check whether it's empty.
  This is not strictly needed here but kfifo_out is annotated
  "must check" anyway.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab eb4b0ec75e [media] include/media: move platform_data to linux/platform_data/media
Let's not mix platform_data headers with the core headers. Instead, let's
create a subdir at linux/platform_data and move the headers to that
common place, adding it to MAINTAINERS.

The headers were moved with:
	mkdir include/linux/platform_data/media/; git mv include/media/gpio-ir-recv.h include/media/ir-rx51.h include/media/mmp-camera.h include/media/omap1_camera.h include/media/omap4iss.h include/media/s5p_hdmi.h include/media/si4713.h include/media/sii9234.h include/media/smiapp.h include/media/soc_camera.h include/media/soc_camera_platform.h include/media/timb_radio.h include/media/timb_video.h include/linux/platform_data/media/

And the references fixed with this script:
    MAIN_DIR="linux/platform_data/"
    PREV_DIR="media/"
    DIRS="media/"

    echo "Checking affected files" >&2
    for i in $DIRS; do
	for j in $(find include/$MAIN_DIR/$i -type f -name '*.h'); do
		 n=`basename $j`
		git grep -l $n
	done
    done|sort|uniq >files && (
	echo "Handling files..." >&2;
	echo "for i in \$(cat files|grep -v Documentation); do cat \$i | \\";
	(
		cd include/$MAIN_DIR;
		for j in $DIRS; do
			for i in $(ls $j); do
				echo "perl -ne 's,(include [\\\"\\<])$PREV_DIR($i)([\\\"\\>]),\1$MAIN_DIR$j\2\3,; print \$_' |\\";
			done;
		done;
		echo "cat > a && mv a \$i; done";
	);

Add support in rc-core for drivers which implement the wakeup scancode
filter by encoding the scancode using the raw IR encoders. This is by
way of rc_dev::encode_wakeup which should be set to true to make the

As well as updating the sysfs interface to know which wakeup protocols
are allowed for encode_wakeup drivers, also ensure that the IR

The protocol is chosen based on the specified protocol mask, and

The Manchester modulation helper is used several times with various

James Hogan a0466f15b4 [media] rc: ir-rc5-decoder: Add encode capability
Add the capability to encode RC-5, RC-5X and RC-5-SZ scancodes as raw
events. The protocol is chosen based on the specified protocol mask,
and whether all the required bits are set in the scancode mask, and
none of the unused bits are set in the scancode data. For example a
scancode filter with bit 16 set in both data and mask is unambiguously
RC-5X.

The Manchester modulation helper is used, and for RC-5X it is used twice
with two sets of timings, the first with a short trailer space for the
space in the middle, and the second with no leader so that it can
continue the space.

The encoding in RC-5-SZ first inserts a pulse and then simply utilizes
the generic Manchester encoder available in rc-core.

Gets a handle to the system clock, already described in the binding
document, and calls the appropriate common clock framework functions
to mark it prepared/enabled, the common clock framework initially
enables the clock and doesn't disable it at least until the

It's important the systen clock is enabled before register interface is

The system clock to IR is needed for the driver to communicate with the
IR hardware via MMIO accesses on the system bus, so it must not be
disabled during use or the driver will malfunction.

Add support for the larger fifo found on sun5i and sun6i, having a separate
compatible for the ir found on sun5i & sun6i also is useful if we ever want
to add ir transmit support, because the sun5i & sun6i version do not have
transmit support.

Note this commits also adds checking for the end-of-packet interrupt flag
(which was already enabled), as the fifo-data-available interrupt flag only
gets set when the trigger-level is exceeded. So far we've been getting away
with not doing this because of the low trigger-level, but this is something

James Hogan 983c5bd26b [media] rc-main: Re-apply filter for no-op protocol change
Since commit da6e162d6a ("[media] rc-core: simplify sysfs code"), when
the IR protocol is set using the sysfs interface to the same set of
protocols that are already set, store_protocols() does not refresh the
scancode filter with the new protocol, even if it has already called the
change_protocol() callback successfully. This results in the filter
being disabled in the hardware and not re-enabled until the filter is
set again using sysfs.

Fix in store_protocols() by still re-applying the filter whenever the
change_protocol() driver callback succeeded.

The problem can be reproduced with the img-ir driver by setting a
filter, and then setting the protocol to the same protocol that is
already set:
$ echo nec > protocols
$ echo 0xffff > filter_mask
$ echo nec > protocols

After this, messages which don't match the filter were still being
received.

James Hogan ac03086067 [media] img-ir/hw: Fix potential deadlock stopping timer
The end timer is used for switching back from repeat code timings when
no repeat codes have been received for a certain amount of time. When
the protocol is changed, the end timer is deleted synchronously with
del_timer_sync(), however this takes place while holding the main spin
lock, and the timer handler also needs to acquire the spin lock.

This opens the possibility of a deadlock on an SMP system if the
protocol is changed just as the repeat timer is expiring. One CPU could
end up in img_ir_set_decoder() holding the lock and waiting for the end
timer to complete, while the other CPU is stuck in the timer handler
spinning on the lock held by the first CPU.

Lockdep also spots a possible lock inversion in the same code, since
img_ir_set_decoder() acquires the img-ir lock before the timer lock, but
the timer handler will try and acquire them the other way around:

Dylan Rajaratnam ea0de4ec54 [media] img-ir/hw: Always read data to clear buffer
A problem was found on Polaris where if the unit it booted via the power
button on the infrared remote then the next button press on the remote
would return the key code used to power on the unit.

The sequence is:
 - The polaris powered off but with the powerdown controller (PDC) block
   still powered.
 - Press power key on remote, IR block receives the key.
 - Kernel starts, IR code is in IMG_IR_DATA_x but neither IMG_IR_RXDVAL
   or IMG_IR_RXDVALD2 are set.
 - Wait any amount of time.
 - Press any key.
 - IMG_IR_RXDVAL or IMG_IR_RXDVALD2 is set but IMG_IR_DATA_x is
   unchanged since the powerup key data was never read.

This is worked around by always reading the IMG_IR_DATA_x in
img_ir_set_decoder(), rather than only when the IMG_IR_RXDVAL or
IMG_IR_RXDVALD2 bit is set.

Beniamino Galvani 12ddbadf38 [media] media: rc: add driver for Amlogic Meson IR remote receiver
Amlogic Meson SoCs include a infrared remote control receiver that can
operate in two modes: "NEC" mode in which the hardware decodes frames
using the NEC IR protocol, and "general" mode in which the receiver
simply reports the duration of pulses and spaces for software
decoding.

This is a driver for the IR receiver that implements software decoding
of received frames.

Austin Lund a8f29e89f2 [media] media/rc: Send sync space information on the lirc device
Userspace expects to see a long space before the first pulse is sent on
the lirc device. Currently, if a long time has passed and a new packet
is started, the lirc codec just returns and doesn't send anything. This
makes lircd ignore many perfectly valid signals unless they are sent in
quick sucession. When a reset event is delivered, we cannot know
anything about the duration of the space. But it should be safe to
assume it has been a long time and we just set the duration to maximum.

Tomas Melin 14edb59333 [media] rc-core: fix protocol_change regression in ir_raw_event_register
IR receiver using nuvoton-cir and lirc required additional configuration
steps after upgrade from kernel 3.16 to 3.17-rcX. Bisected regression to
commit da6e162d6a ("[media] rc-core:
simplify sysfs code").

The regression comes from adding function change_protocol in ir-raw.c.
It changes behaviour so that only the protocol enabled by driver's
map_name will be active after registration. This breaks user space
behaviour, lirc does not get key press signals anymore.

Enable lirc protocol by default for ir raw decoders to restore original
behaviour.

The IR dprintk message that prints a RC5 decoding failure
is not much helpful, as it doesn't tell on what bit the
error occurred.

Add such information, in order to make the debug message

Mauro Carvalho Chehab d24b69fc6b [media] rc-main: allow raw protocol drivers to restrict the allowed protos
On some hardware (au0828/au8522), the hardware is broken with
regards to the initial pulse detection. So, the driver needs to
produce a fake start pulse. That limits the acceptable protocols,
as it is not possible to produce a fake pulse that would cover
all supported protocols.

So, allow the driver to explicitly set the allowed protocols.

If the driver doesn't specify, keep the old behavior.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 5b8c8d4191 [media] mceusb: select default keytable based on vendor
Some vendors have their on keymap table that are used on
all (or almost all) models for that vendor.

So, instead of specifying the keymap table per USB ID,
let's use the Vendor ID's table by default.

At the end, this will mean less code to be added when newer
devices for those vendors are added.

Of course, if rc_map is specified per board, it takes
precedence.

George Spelvin 356237d67a [media] ati_remote: Better default keycodes
This tries to make them more like other remotes, and/or
the button labels.

Notably, the (>>) button is made KEY_FASTFORWARD, which is the
correct opposite of (<<)'s KEY_REVERSE. (It was KEY_FORWARD,
something else entirely.)

Likewise, KEY_STOP is the Sun keyboard "interrupt program" key;
the media key is KEY_STOPCD.

A restriction is that I try to avoid keycodes above 255, as the X11
client/server protocol is limited to 8-bit key codes. If not for
this, I would have used the KEY_NUMERIC_x codes for the numbers.

David Härdeman e87b540be2 [media] rc-core: merge rc5 and streamzap decoders
Now that the protocol is part of the scancode, it is pretty easy to merge
the rc5 and streamzap decoders. An additional advantage is that the decoder
is now stricter as it waits for the trailing silence before determining that
a command is a valid rc5/streamzap command (which avoids collisions that I've
seen with e.g. Sony protocols).

David Härdeman c5540fbb9d [media] rc-core: remove protocol arrays
The basic API of rc-core used to be:

	dev = rc_allocate_device();
	dev->x = a;
	dev->y = b;
	dev->z = c;
	rc_register_device();

which is a pretty common pattern in the kernel, after the introduction of
protocol arrays the API looks something like:

	dev = rc_allocate_device();
	dev->x = a;
	rc_set_allowed_protocols(dev, RC_BIT_X);
	dev->z = c;
	rc_register_device();

There's no real need for the protocols to be an array, so change it
back to be consistent (and in preparation for the following patches).

This driver codes the two address bytes in reverse order when compared to the

common among the NECX keymaps. While not conclusive, it's still a strong hint

Right now the protocol information is not preserved, rc-core gets handed a
scancode but has no idea which protocol it corresponds to.

This patch (which required reading through the source/keymap for all drivers,
not fun) makes the protocol information explicit which is important
documentation and makes it easier to e.g. support multiple protocols with one
decoder (think rc5 and rc-streamzap). The information isn't used yet so there
should be no functional changes.
