Linus Torvalds fa91515cbf ARM: Renesas SoC cleanup, refactoring and more SMP support
Lots of cleanup and refactoring and some SMP additions for Renesas
platforms. Due to some inter-dependencies with other arm-soc
branches, this Renesas stuff was separated out for sending after the
 other branches were merged.

 Highlights:
 - remove unused board support and cleanup of unused headers
 - refactoring of init and device registration
 - simplify IRQ initialization

Conflicts: Too many. Most of these are because Simon chose to send
some board updates through the V4L tree that ends up colliding with
the main platform changes. We'll work with him on sorting out his
 workflow:

 - arch/arm/boot/dts/r8a7740.dtsi:
   - Add/add conflict in a devicetree file (keep both)

 - arch/arm/mach-shmobile/Makefile:
   - Splitting out of clock files collides with intc move to DT.
Keep HEAD version but remove intc-* files for R8A7740 and R8A7779.

 - arch/arm/mach-shmobile/board-bockw.c:
   - Keep HEAD but remove i2c, hspi and mmc device init calls

 - arch/arm/mach-shmobile/board-marzen.c
   - Remove mach/hardware.h include and r8a7779_add_usb_phy_device() call,
     everything else stays.

 - arch/arm/mach-shmobile/include/mach/r8a7778.h:
   - From HEAD, Keep camera-rcar.h include and r8a7778_add_vin_device()
   - From branch, keep everything

 - arch/arm/mach-shmobile/include/mach/r8a7779.h:
   - From HEAD, Keep only camera-rcar.h include and r8a7779_add_vin_device()

 - arch/arm/mach-shmobile/setup-r8a7778.c
   - Keep HEAD, but drop the MMC section (struct resource + add_mmc_device())
   - take the new function name from our side (r8a7778_add_dt_devices())

 - arch/arm/mach-shmobile/setup-r8a7779.c
   - Keep HEAD, but drop r8a7779_add_usb_phy_device()

I've also pushed a test-merge2 branch where you can see how I resolved
 them.

Linus Torvalds 44598f98b9 ARM: SoC board updates for 3.12
Board updates for 3.12. Again, a bit of domain overlap with SoC and DT branches,
but most of this is around legacy code and board support. We've found that
platform maintainers have a hard time separating all of these out and might
move towards fewer branches for next release.

 - Removal of a number of Marvell Kirkwood board files, since contents
is now common and mostly configured via DT.
 - Device-tree updates for Marvell Dove, including irqchip and clocksource
   setup.
 - Defconfig updates. Gotta go somewhere. One new one for Renesas Lager.
 - New backlight drivers for backlights used on Renesas shmobile platforms.
 - Removal of Renesas leds driver.
 - Shuffling of some of the new Broadcom platforms to give room for others in
the same mach directory. More in 2.13.

Linus Torvalds b4b50fd78b ARM: SoC platform changes for 3.12
This branch contains mostly additions and changes to platform enablement
and SoC-level drivers. Since there's sometimes a dependency on device-tree
changes, there's also a fair amount of those in this branch.

 Pieces worth mentioning are:

 - Mbus driver for Marvell platforms, allowing kernel configuration
and resource allocation of on-chip peripherals.
 - Enablement of the mbus infrastructure from Marvell PCI-e drivers.
 - Preparation of MSI support for Marvell platforms.
 - Addition of new PCI-e host controller driver for Tegra platforms
 - Some churn caused by sharing of macro names between i.MX 6Q and 6DL
platforms in the device tree sources and header files.
 - Various suspend/PM updates for Tegra, including LP1 support.
 - Versatile Express support for MCPM, part of big little support.
 - Allwinner platform support for A20 and A31 SoCs (dual and quad Cortex-A7)
 - OMAP2+ support for DRA7, a new Cortex-A15-based SoC.

The code that touches other architectures are patches moving
MSI arch-specific functions over to weak symbols and removal of
 ARCH_SUPPORTS_MSI, acked by PCI maintainers.

Linus Torvalds 8e73e367f7 ARM: SoC cleanups for 3.12
This branch contains code cleanups, moves and removals for 3.12.

There's a large number of various cleanups, and a nice net removal of
 13500 lines of code.

 Highlights worth mentioning are:

 - A series of patches from Stephen Boyd removing the ARM local timer API.
 - Move of Qualcomm MSM IOMMU code to drivers/iommu.
 - Samsung PWM driver cleanups from Tomasz Figa, removing legacy PWM driver
and switching over to the drivers/pwm one.
 - Removal of some unusued auto-generated headers for OMAP2+ (PRM/CM).

There's also a move of a header file out of include/linux/i2c/ to
platform_data, where it really belongs. It touches mostly ARM platform
code for include changes so we took it through our tree.

   - Some SoC drivers gained support for asynchronous registration
     (needed for DT)
   - The RC subsystem gained support for RC activity LED;
   - New drivers added: a video decoder(adv7842), a video encoder
(adv7511), a new GSPCA driver (stk1135) and support for Renesas
     R-Car (vsp1)
   - the first SDR kernel driver: mirics msi3101. Due to some troubles
with the driver, and because the API is still under discussion, it
will be merged at staging for 3.12. Need to rework on it
   - usual new boards additions, fixes, cleanups and driver

Pull OMAP specific fbdev changes from Tomi Valkeinen:
"I've got this pull request separate from the main fbdev pull request,
as this contains a bunch of OMAP board file changes and thus could
possibly be rejected in case of bad conflicts.

The removal of the old display drivers depend on the board file
changes, so Tony Lindgren suggested taking them together via fbdev
tree. These are in linux-next, and also Tony didn't see any conflicts
with any of the branches he had, so they should go in clean.

Fabio Estevam 7e463b7c1b ARM: imx: Re-select CONFIG_SND_SOC_IMX_MC13783 option
Commit 02502da45 (ASoC: imx-mc13783: Depend on ARCH_ARM) caused the selection of
CONFIG_SND_SOC_IMX_MC13783 to be impossible due to a wrong dependency, which
caused CONFIG_SND_SOC_IMX_MC13783 to be removed after the defconfigs cleanups.

The original selection problem has been fixed by 9f19de649f (ASoC: imx-mc13783:
Make SND_SOC_IMX_MC13783 visible again), so it is possible to select
CONFIG_SND_SOC_IMX_MC13783 again as originally done.

removed the last kirkwood DT/platform board in kirkwood_defconfig, this

Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz c3e566d941 ARM: exynos4_defconfig: remove obsolete exynos4_defconfig
It hasn't been updated since Novemeber 2011 and exynos_defconfig
should be used instead.

After conversion to using device tree only (no board files) on
mach-exynos using exynos4_defconfig results in unbootable kernel.

There is no much point in trying to fix exynos4_defconfig because
exynos_defconfig also works for EXYNOS4 SoCs, is being kept up to date
(for the comparison the last exynos4_defconfig update was in November
2011) and has more useful stuff enabled (i.e. exynos4_defconfig doesn't
even have EXT3 or EXT4 enabled, it only has EXT2 turned on).

Another advantage of using one defconfig for both EXYNOS4 and EXYNOS5
is that it makes development and testing easier. It should allow us
to catch early EXYNOS4 regressions caused by EXYNOS5 changes and also
EXYNOS4 changes that break EXYNOS5.

Viresh Kumar 6e63a3a294 watchdog: delete mpcore_wdt driver
Interrupt request doesn't use the right API: The TWD watchdog uses a per-cpu
interrupt (usually interrupt #30), and the GIC configuration should flag it as
such. With this setup, request_irq() should fail, and the right API is
request_percpu_irq(), together with enable_percpu_irq()/disable_percpu_irq().

Nothing ensures the userspace ioctl() will end-up kicking the watchdog on the
right CPU.

There are no users of this driver since a long time and it makes more sense to
get rid of it as nobody is looking to fix it.

In case somebody wakes up after this has been removed and needs it, please
revert this driver and pick these updates (These were never pushed to mainline):

Linus Torvalds 496322bc91 Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net-next
Pull networking updates from David Miller:
"This is a re-do of the net-next pull request for the current merge
window. The only difference from the one I made the other day is that
this has Eliezer's interface renames and the timeout handling changes
made based upon your feedback, as well as a few bug fixes that have
  trickeled in.

  Highlights:

   1) Low latency device polling, eliminating the cost of interrupt
handling and context switches. Allows direct polling of a network
device from socket operations, such as recvmsg() and poll().

Currently ixgbe, mlx4, and bnx2x support this feature.

Full high level description, performance numbers, and design in
      commit 0a4db187a9 ("Merge branch 'll_poll'")

      From Eliezer Tamir.

   2) With the routing cache removed, ip_check_mc_rcu() gets exercised
more than ever before in the case where we have lots of multicast
addresses. Use a hash table instead of a simple linked list, from
      Eric Dumazet.

   3) Add driver for Atheros CQA98xx 802.11ac wireless devices, from
Bartosz Markowski, Janusz Dziedzic, Kalle Valo, Marek Kwaczynski,
Marek Puzyniak, Michal Kazior, and Sujith Manoharan.

   4) Support reporting the TUN device persist flag to userspace, from
      Pavel Emelyanov.

   5) Allow controlling network device VF link state using netlink, from
      Rony Efraim.

   6) Support GRE tunneling in openvswitch, from Pravin B Shelar.

   7) Adjust SOCK_MIN_RCVBUF and SOCK_MIN_SNDBUF for modern times, from
      Daniel Borkmann and Eric Dumazet.

   8) Allow controlling of TCP quickack behavior on a per-route basis,
      from Cong Wang.

   9) Several bug fixes and improvements to vxlan from Stephen
Hemminger, Pravin B Shelar, and Mike Rapoport. In particular,
support receiving on multiple UDP ports.

  10) Major cleanups, particular in the area of debugging and cookie
lifetime handline, to the SCTP protocol code. From Daniel
      Borkmann.

  11) Allow packets to cross network namespaces when traversing tunnel
      devices. From Nicolas Dichtel.

  12) Allow monitoring netlink traffic via AF_PACKET sockets, in a
manner akin to how we monitor real network traffic via ptype_all.
      From Daniel Borkmann.

  13) Several bug fixes and improvements for the new alx device driver,
      from Johannes Berg.

  14) Fix scalability issues in the netem packet scheduler's time queue,
by using an rbtree. From Eric Dumazet.

  15) Several bug fixes in TCP loss recovery handling, from Yuchung
      Cheng.

  16) Add support for GSO segmentation of MPLS packets, from Simon
      Horman.

  17) Make network notifiers have a real data type for the opaque
pointer that's passed into them. Use this to properly handle
network device flag changes in arp_netdev_event(). From Jiri
      Pirko and Timo Teräs.

  18) Convert several drivers over to module_pci_driver(), from Peter
      Huewe.

  19) tcp_fixup_rcvbuf() can loop 500 times over loopback, just use a
O(1) calculation instead. From Eric Dumazet.

  20) Support setting of explicit tunnel peer addresses in ipv6, just
      like ipv4. From Nicolas Dichtel.

  21) Protect x86 BPF JIT against spraying attacks, from Eric Dumazet.

  22) Prevent a single high rate flow from overruning an individual cpu
during RX packet processing via selective flow shedding. From
      Willem de Bruijn.

  23) Don't use spinlocks in TCP md5 signing fast paths, from Eric
      Dumazet.

  24) Don't just drop GSO packets which are above the TBF scheduler's
burst limit, chop them up so they are in-bounds instead. Also
      from Eric Dumazet.

  25) VLAN offloads are missed when configured on top of a bridge, fix
      from Vlad Yasevich.

  26) Support IPV6 in ping sockets. From Lorenzo Colitti.

  27) Receive flow steering targets should be updated at poll() time
      too, from David Majnemer.

  28) Fix several corner case regressions in PMTU/redirect handling due
to the routing cache removal, from Timo Teräs.

  29) We have to be mindful of ipv4 mapped ipv6 sockets in
      upd_v6_push_pending_frames().  From Hannes Frederic Sowa.

  30) Fix L2TP sequence number handling bugs, from James Chapman."

Olof Johansson 9cc98f01e2 ARM: Make multi_v7_defconfig usable on hardware
This updates multi_v7_defconfig to boot on at least Tegra2 Seaboard and
Panda ES. I lack working hardware for most of the platforms that were
enabled to compare with, so I could only verify those two for now. Still,
I enabled all of the available ones for build coverage purposes.

Beyond base platforms, things like PRINTK_TIME, filesystems, MMC, USB,
INET and UNIX networking was enabled. I'm sure we'll keep adding more
over time, but this gets us off the ground for semi-regular boot testing.

Linus Torvalds 0bf6a210a4 ARM SoC driver specific changes
These changes are all driver specific and cross over between arm-soc
contents and some other subsystem, in these cases cpufreq, crypto,
dma, pinctrl, mailbox and usb, and the subsystem owners agreed to
have these changes merged through arm-soc. As we proceed to untangle
the dependencies between platform code and driver code, the amount of
changes in this category is fortunately shrinking, for 3.11 we have
16 branches here and 101 non-merge changesets, the majority of which
are for the stedma40 dma engine driver used in the ux500 platform.
Cleaning up that code touches multiple subsystems, but gets rid
of the dependency in the end.

The mailbox code moved out from mach-omap2 to drivers/mailbox
is an intermediate step and is still omap specific at the moment.
Patches exist to generalize the subsystem and add other drivers
with the same API, but those did not make it for 3.11.

 Conflicts:
 * In cpu-db8500.c results from the removal of the u8500_of_init_devices
function in combination with the split of u8500_auxdata_lookup.

 * In arch/arm/mach-omap2/devices.c, the includes got reshuffled.
we need to keep linux/wl12xx.h and linux/platform_data/mailbox-omap.h.

Linus Torvalds ee1a8d402e ARM SoC device tree changes
These changes from 30 individual branches for the most part update device
tree files, but there are also a few source code changes that have crept
in this time, usually in order to atomically move over a driver from
using hardcoded data to DT probing.

A number of platforms change their DT files to use the C preprocessor,
which is causing a bit of churn, but that is hopefully only this once.

There are a few conflicts with the other branches unfortunately:

 * in exynos5440.dtsi and kirkwood-6281.dtsi, device nodes are added
from multiple branches. Need to be careful to have the right
set of closing braces as git gets this one wrong.

 * In kirkwood.dtsi, one 'ranges' line got split into two lines, while
another line got added. Order of the lines does not matter.

 * in sama5d3.dtsi, some cleanup was merged the wrong way, causing
a bogus conflict. We want the 'dmas' and 'dma-names' properties
   to get added here.

 * Two lines got removed independently in arch/arm/mach-mxs/mach-mxs.c

 * Contents get added independently in arch/arm/mach-omap2/cclock33xx_data.c

Linus Torvalds 40e71e7015 ARM SoC board specific changes
These are 18 branches on 9 platforms with board specific changes, mostly
for defconfig files, but nothing really exciting in here.

Since the shmobile platform still uses board files for some of the newer
machines, we get a few changes there as the result of drivers getting
enabled for those boards. This causes some conflicts with contents getting
added from multiple branches in sh-mobile specific files. Renesas is
putting a lot of work into migrating to device-tree based setup, which
will make all those files obsolete in the future and avoid both the
conflicts and the need to have these files in the first place.

Merge tag 'boards-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc

Pull ARM SoC board specific changes from Arnd Bergmann:
"These are 18 branches on 9 platforms with board specific changes,
mostly for defconfig files, but nothing really exciting in here.

Since the shmobile platform still uses board files for some of the
newer machines, we get a few changes there as the result of drivers
getting enabled for those boards. This causes some conflicts with
contents getting added from multiple branches in sh-mobile specific
files. Renesas is putting a lot of work into migrating to device-tree
based setup, which will make all those files obsolete in the future
and avoid both the conflicts and the need to have these files in the
  first place."

Linus Torvalds 3883cbb6c1 ARM SoC specific changes
These changes are all to SoC-specific code, a total of 33 branches on
17 platforms were pulled into this. Like last time, Renesas sh-mobile
is now the platform with the most changes, followed by OMAP and EXYNOS.

Two new platforms, TI Keystone and Rockchips RK3xxx are added in
this branch, both containing almost no platform specific code at all,
since they are using generic subsystem interfaces for clocks, pinctrl,
interrupts etc. The device drivers are getting merged through the
 respective subsystem maintainer trees.

One more SoC (u300) is now multiplatform capable and several others
(shmobile, exynos, msm, integrator, kirkwood, clps711x) are moving
towards that goal with this series but need more work.

Also noteworthy is the work on PCI here, which is traditionally part of
the SoC specific code. With the changes done by Thomas Petazzoni, we can
now more easily have PCI host controller drivers as loadable modules and
keep them separate from the platform code in drivers/pci/host. This has
already led to the discovery that three platforms (exynos, spear and imx)
are actually using an identical PCIe host controller and will be able
to share a driver once support for spear and imx is added.

 Conflicts:
 * asm/glue-proc.h has one CPU type getting added that conflicts
   with another addition in 3.10-rc7
 * Simple context changes in arch/arm/Makefile and arch/arm/Kconfig

Tushar Behera 85964af2cd ARM: exynos_defconfig: Enable GPIO buttons and RTC drivers
Many of the boards use GPIO-mapped buttons for generic input.
For Arndale board, these buttons also serve as wakeup source.

And the issues reported in commit 522ccdb6fd ("ARM: dts:
Disable the RTC by default on exynos5") are no longer reproduced
on EXYNOS5250 based systems. Hence it would be better to re-enable
RTC support for EXYNOS5250.

Adrien Vergé 45853507c9 ARM: omap2plus_defconfig: enable USB_PHY and NOP_USB_XCEIV
On OMAP2+ platforms, USB support needs physical layer signalling and
the NOP USB Transceiver driver since v3.10. This patch enables USB_PHY
and NOP_USB_XCEIV in omap2plus_defconfig. These two are harmless to
the kernel stability, and useful since they are required for USB and
Ethernet (over USB) support.

We do not enable USB_EHCI_HCD here because all features aren't fully
supported yet.

This patch applies to Linux 3.10-rc3.
