Sebastian Hesselbarth 4178bac4f6 ARM: call of_clk_init from default time_init handler
Most DT ARM machs require common clock providers initialized before timers.
Currently, arch/arm machs use .init_time to call of_clk_init right before
clocksource_of_init. This prevents to remove that callback and use the default
one instead.

This patch adds a call to of_clk_init() to the default .init_time callback
for COMMON_CLK enabled machs to allow to remove custom callbacks where applicable.
While at it, also reorder includes alphabetically.

Arnd Bergmann f414f13f2f ARM: make machine_desc->init_time default to clocksource_of_init
Originally from a default machine descriptor patch from Arnd, pull out
just the default call to clocksource_of_init part. This is needed so that
platforms can simply remove .init_time calls as they are converted to use

Stephen Warren 6bb27d7349 ARM: delete struct sys_timer
Now that the only field in struct sys_timer is .init, delete the struct,
and replace the machine descriptor .timer field with the initialization
function itself.

This will enable moving timer drivers into drivers/clocksource without
having to place a public prototype of each struct sys_timer object into
include/linux; the intent is to create a single of_clocksource_init()
function that determines which timer driver to initialize by scanning
the device dtree, much like the proposed irqchip_init() at:
http://www.spinics.net/lists/arm-kernel/msg203686.html

Includes mach-omap2 fixes from Igor Grinberg.

Stephen Warren 7704c09523 ARM: remove struct sys_timer suspend and resume fields
These fields duplicate e.g. struct clock_event_device's suspend and
resume fields, so remove them now that nothing is using them. The aim
is to remove all fields from struct sys_timer except .init, then replace
the ARM machine descriptor's .timer field with a .init_time function
instead, and delete struct sys_timer.

Stephen Warren 23c197b77f ARM: set arch_gettimeoffset directly
remove ARM's struct sys_timer .offset function pointer, and instead
directly set the arch_gettimeoffset function pointer when the timer
driver is initialized. This requires multiplying all function results
by 1000, since the removed arm_gettimeoffset() did this. Also,
s/unsigned long/u32/ just to make the function prototypes exactly
match that of arch_gettimeoffset.

Stephen Warren 7b1f62076b time: convert arch_gettimeoffset to a pointer
Currently, whenever CONFIG_ARCH_USES_GETTIMEOFFSET is enabled, each
arch core provides a single implementation of arch_gettimeoffset(). In
many cases, different sub-architectures, different machines, or
different timer providers exist, and so the arch ends up implementing
arch_gettimeoffset() as a call-through-pointer anyway. Examples are
ARM, Cris, M68K, and it's arguable that the remaining architectures,
M32R and Blackfin, should be doing this anyway.

Modify arch_gettimeoffset so that it itself is a function pointer, which
the arch initializes. This will allow later changes to move the
initialization of this function into individual machine support or timer
drivers. This is particularly useful for code in drivers/clocksource
which should rely on an arch-independant mechanism to register their
implementation of arch_gettimeoffset().

This patch also converts the Cris architecture to set arch_gettimeoffset
directly to the final implementation in time_init(), because Cris already
had separate time_init() functions per sub-architecture. M68K and ARM
are converted to set arch_gettimeoffset to the final implementation in
later patches, because they already have function pointers in place for
this purpose.

Marc Zyngier bd0493eaaf ARM: 7413/1: move read_{boot,persistent}_clock to the architecture level

Russell King 211baa7016 ARM: sched_clock: allow init_sched_clock() to be called early
sched_clock is supposed to be initialized early - in the recently added
init_early platform hook. However, in doing so we end up calling
mod_timer() before the timer lists are initialized, resulting in an
oops.

Split the initialization in two - the part which the platform calls
early which starts things off. The addition of the timer can be
delayed until after we have more of the kernel initialized - when the
normal time sources are initialized.

So we can kill wall_jiffies completely.

This is just a cleanup and logically should not change any real behavior
except for one thing: RTC updating code in (old) ppc and xtensa use a
condition "jiffies - wall_jiffies == 1". This condition is never met so I
suppose it is just a bug. I just remove that condition only instead of
kill the whole "if" block.

Atsushi Nemoto 3171a0305d [PATCH] simplify update_times (avoid jiffies/jiffies_64 aliasing problem)
Pass ticks to do_timer() and update_times(), and adjust x86_64 and s390
timer interrupt handler with this change.

Currently update_times() calculates ticks by "jiffies - wall_jiffies", but
callers of do_timer() should know how many ticks to update. Passing ticks
get rid of this redundant calculation. Also there are another redundancy
pointed out by Martin Schwidefsky.

This cleanup make a barrier added by
5aee405c66 needless. So this patch removes
it.

As a bonus, this cleanup make wall_jiffies can be removed easily, since now
wall_jiffies is always synced with jiffies. (This patch does not really
remove wall_jiffies. It would be another cleanup patch)

Kevin Hilman 746140c71d [ARM] 3855/1: Add generic time support
This patch adds Generic time-of-day support for the ARM architecture.

The support is currently added using #ifdef's so that it can support
sub-arches that do not (yet) have a clocksource added. As sub-arches
add clocksource support, they should 'select GENERIC_TIME'

Tony Lindgren 69239749e1 [PATCH] fix next_timer_interrupt() for hrtimer
Also from Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de>

Function next_timer_interrupt() got broken with a recent patch
6ba1b91213 as sys_nanosleep() was moved to
hrtimer. This broke things as next_timer_interrupt() did not check hrtimer
tree for next event.

Function next_timer_interrupt() is needed with dyntick (CONFIG_NO_IDLE_HZ,
VST) implementations, as the system can be in idle when next hrtimer event
was supposed to happen. At least ARM and S390 currently use
next_timer_interrupt().

Russell King 78ff18a412 [ARM] Cleanup ARM includes
arch/arm/kernel/entry-armv.S has contained a comment suggesting
that asm/hardware.h and asm/arch/irqs.h should be moved into the
asm/arch/entry-macro.S include. So move the includes to these
two files as required.

Add missing includes (asm/hardware.h, asm/io.h) to asm/arch/system.h
includes which use those facilities, and remove asm/io.h from
kernel/process.c.

Remove other unnecessary includes from arch/arm/kernel, arch/arm/mm
and arch/arm/mach-footbridge.

john stultz b149ee2233 [PATCH] NTP: ntp-helper functions
This patch cleans up a commonly repeated set of changes to the NTP state
variables by adding two helper inline functions:

ntp_clear(): Clears the ntp state variables

ntp_synced(): Returns 1 if the system is synced with a time server.

This was compile tested for alpha, arm, i386, x86-64, ppc64, s390, sparc,
sparc64.
