Utkarsh Verma a65ab973c1 USB: serial: replace symbolic permissions by octal permissions
Replace symbolic permission macros with octal permission numbers
because octal permission numbers are easier to read and understand
instead of their symbolic macro names.

No functional change.

Jiri Slaby 155591d3ce USB: serial: make usb_serial_driver::chars_in_buffer return uint
tty_operations::chars_in_buffer is being switched to return uint. Do the
same for usb_serial_driver's chars_in_buffer.

Jiri Slaby 94cc7aeaf6 USB: serial: make usb_serial_driver::write_room return uint
Line disciplines expect a positive value or zero returned from
tty->ops->write_room (invoked by tty_write_room). Both of them are being
updated to return an unsigned int. Switch also
usb_serial_driver::write_room and all its users.

Uwe Kleine-König c5d1448fa3 USB: serial: make remove callback return void
All usb_serial drivers return 0 in their remove callbacks and driver
core ignores the value returned by usb_serial_device_remove(). So change
the remove callback to return void and return 0 unconditionally in
usb_serial_device_remove().

Johan Hovold e0439cd975 USB: serial: sierra: clean up special-interface handling
Clean up the handling of special interfaces that either should be
ignored or that need a larger number of URBs.

Commit 66f092ed3b ("USB: serial: sierra: unify quirk handling logic")
replaced the previous is_blacklisted() and is_highmemory() helpers with
a single is_quirk() helper which made it even harder to understand what
the interface lists were used for.

Rename the interface-list struct, its members and the interface-lookup
helper and restructure the code somewhat in order to make it more
self-explanatory.

The sierra driver had two different functions for trying to determine
different quirks that did the same exact thing. Remove one and rename
things to make it more obvious exactly what the different lists do.

John Ogness d4bf25b3fc USB: serial: sierra: use irqsave() in USB's complete callback
The USB completion callback does not disable interrupts while acquiring
the lock. We want to remove the local_irq_disable() invocation from
__usb_hcd_giveback_urb() and therefore it is required for the callback
handler to disable the interrupts while acquiring the lock.
The callback may be invoked either in IRQ or BH context depending on the
USB host controller.
Use the _irqsave() variant of the locking primitives.

Greg Kroah-Hartman 6ca98bc284 USB: serial: Remove redundant license text
Now that the SPDX tag is in all USB files, that identifies the license
in a specific and legally-defined manner. So the extra GPL text wording
can be removed as it is no longer needed at all.

This is done on a quest to remove the 700+ different ways that files in
the kernel describe the GPL license text. And there's unneeded stuff
like the address (sometimes incorrect) for the FSF which is never
needed.

No copyright headers or other non-license-description text was removed.

Greg Kroah-Hartman 5fd54ace47 USB: add SPDX identifiers to all remaining files in drivers/usb/
It's good to have SPDX identifiers in all files to make it easier to
audit the kernel tree for correct licenses.

Update the drivers/usb/ and include/linux/usb* files with the correct
SPDX license identifier based on the license text in the file itself.
The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used
instead of the full boiler plate text.

This work is based on a script and data from Thomas Gleixner, Philippe
Ombredanne, and Kate Stewart.

Johan Hovold 07814246dd USB: serial: allow subdrivers to modify port-endpoint mapping
Allow subdrivers to modify the port-endpoint mapping by passing the
endpoint descriptors to calc_num_ports.

The callback can now also be used to verify that the required endpoints
exists and abort probing otherwise.

This will allow us to get rid of a few hacks in subdrivers that are
already modifying the port-endpoint mapping (or aborting probe due to
missing endpoints), but only after the port structures have been setup.

Peter Hurley d41861ca19 tty: Replace ASYNC_INITIALIZED bit and update atomically
Replace ASYNC_INITIALIZED bit in the tty_port::flags field with
TTY_PORT_INITIALIZED bit in the tty_port::iflags field. Introduce helpers
tty_port_set_initialized() and tty_port_initialized() to abstract
atomic bit ops.

Note: the transforms for test_and_set_bit() and test_and_clear_bit()
are unnecessary as the state transitions are already mutually exclusive;
the tty lock prevents concurrent open/close/hangup.

Dirk Behme 7447223323 USB: sierra: add 1199:68AB device ID
Add support for the Sierra Wireless AR8550 device with
USB descriptor 0x1199, 0x68AB.

It is common with MC879x modules 1199:683c/683d which
also are composite devices with 7 interfaces (0..6)
and also MDM62xx based as the AR8550.

The major difference are only the interface attributes
02/02/01 on interfaces 3 and 4 on the AR8550. They are
vendor specific ff/ff/ff on MC879x modules.

Bjørn Mork 049255f516 USB: sierra: avoid CDC class functions on "68A3" devices
Sierra Wireless Direct IP devices using the 68A3 product ID
can be configured for modes including a CDC ECM class function.
The known example uses interface numbers 12 and 13 for the ECM
control and data interfaces respectively, consistent with CDC
MBIM function interface numbering on other Sierra devices.

It seems cleaner to restrict this driver to the ff/ff/ff
vendor specific interfaces rather than increasing the already
long interface number blacklist. This should be more future
proof if Sierra adds more class functions using interface
numbers not yet in the blacklist.

Make sure that needs_remote_wake up is always set when there are open

Currently close() would unconditionally set needs_remote_wakeup to 0

wakeup (and which must therefore not be runtime suspended while open).

Add an open_ports counter (protected by the susp_lock) and only clear
needs_remote_wakeup when the last port is closed.

Neither the transfer buffer or the urb itself were released in the
resume error path for delayed writes. Also on errors, the remainder of

The same error path also failed to balance the outstanding-urb counter,
something which results in degraded throughput or completely blocked

Fix this by releasing urb and buffer and balancing counters on errors,

Greg Kroah-Hartman 1143832eca USB: serial: ports: add minor and port number
The usb_serial_port structure had the number field, which was the minor
number for the port, which almost no one really cared about. They
really wanted the number of the port within the device, which you had to
subtract from the minor of the parent usb_serial_device structure. To
clean this up, provide the real minor number of the port, and the number
of the port within the serial device separately, as these numbers might
not be related in the future.

Bonus is that this cleans up a lot of logic in the drivers, and saves
lines overall.

Johan Hovold b2ca699076 USB: serial: fix null-pointer dereferences on disconnect
Make sure serial-driver dtr_rts is called with disc_mutex held after
checking the disconnected flag.

Due to a bug in the tty layer, dtr_rts may get called after a device has
been disconnected and the tty-device unregistered. Some drivers have had
individual checks for disconnect to make sure the disconnected interface
was not accessed, but this should really be handled in usb-serial core
(at least until the long-standing tty-bug has been fixed).

Note that the problem has been made more acute with commit 0998d06310
("device-core: Ensure drvdata = NULL when no driver is bound") as the
port data is now also NULL when dtr_rts is called resulting in further
oopses.

Jiri Slaby 2e124b4a39 TTY: switch tty_flip_buffer_push
Now, we start converting tty buffer functions to actually use
tty_port. This will allow us to get rid of the need of tty in many
call sites. Only tty_port will needed and hence no more
tty_port_tty_get in those paths.

Now, the one where most of tty_port_tty_get gets removed:
tty_flip_buffer_push.

IOW we also closed all the races in drivers not using tty_port_tty_get
at all yet.

Also we move tty_flip_buffer_push declaration from include/linux/tty.h
to include/linux/tty_flip.h to all others while we are changing it
anyway.

Johan Hovold bcbec053d2 USB: serial: remove driver version information
Remove all MODULE_VERSION macros and driver-version information (except
for garmin_gps which uses it in a status reply).

It is the kernel version that matters and not some private version
scheme which rarely even gets updated.

Johan Hovold f525c05bab USB: sierra: fix port-data memory leak
Fix port-data memory leak by moving port data allocation and
deallocation to port_probe and port_remove.

Since commit 0998d06310 (device-core: Ensure drvdata = NULL when no
driver is bound) the port private data is no longer freed at release as
it is no longer accessible.

Note also that urb-count for multi-port interfaces has not been changed
even though the usb-serial port number is now determined from the port
and interface minor numbers.

Compile-only tested.
