Tony Lindgren 54b693d467 ARM: OMAP1: Move plat/tc.h to mach/tc.h for omap1
We cannot keep this in plat as it causes problems
with the ARM single zImage support.

Arnd Bergmann fdc858a466 pcmcia: sharpsl: don't discard sharpsl_pcmcia_ops
The sharpsl_pcmcia_ops structure gets passed into
sa11xx_drv_pcmcia_probe, where it gets accessed at run-time,
unlike all other pcmcia drivers that pass their structures
into platform_device_add_data, which makes a copy.

This means the gcc warning is valid and the structure
must not be marked as __initdata.

Without this patch, building collie_defconfig results in:

drivers/pcmcia/pxa2xx_sharpsl.c:22:31: fatal error: mach-pxa/hardware.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.

Linus Torvalds 9cd11c0c47 ARM: soc: multiplatform enablement
This is a pretty significant branch. It's the introduction of the
 first multiplatform support on ARM, and with this (and the later
 branch) merged, it is now possible to build one kernel that contains
 support for highbank, vexpress, mvebu, socfpga, and picoxcell. More
 platforms will be convered over in the next few releases.

 Two critical last things had to be done for this to be practical and
 possible:
 * Today each platform has its own include directory under
   mach-<mach>/include/mach/*, and traditionally that is where a lot of
   driver/platform shared definitions have gone, such as platform data
   structures. They now need to move out to a common location instead,
   and this branch moves a large number of those out to
   include/linux/platform_data.
 * Each platform used to list the device trees to compile for its
   boards in mach-<mach>/Makefile.boot.

 Both of the above changes will mean that there are some merge
 conflicts to come (and some to resolve here). It's a one-time move and
 once it settles in, we should be good for quite a while. Sorry for the
 overhead.

Linus Torvalds 61464c8357 ARM: soc: general cleanups
This is a large branch that contains a handful of different cleanups:

 - Fixing up the I/O space remapping on PCI on ARM. This is a series
   from Rob Herring that restructures how all pci devices allocate I/O
   space, and it's part of the work to allow multiplatform kernels.
 - A number of cleanup series for OMAP, moving and removing some
   headers, sparse irq rework and in general preparation for
   multiplatform.
 - Final removal of all non-DT boards for Tegra, it is now
   device-tree-only!
 - Removal of a stale platform, nxp4008. It's an old mobile chipset
   that is no longer in use, and was very likely never really used with
   a mainline kernel. We have not been able to find anyone interested
   in keeping it around in the kernel.
 - Removal of the legacy dmaengine driver on tegra

 + A handful of other things that I haven't described above.

Merge tag 'split-asm_system_h-for-linus-20120328' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-asm_system

Pull "Disintegrate and delete asm/system.h" from David Howells:
 "Here are a bunch of patches to disintegrate asm/system.h into a set of
  separate bits to relieve the problem of circular inclusion
  dependencies.

  I've built all the working defconfigs from all the arches that I can
  and made sure that they don't break.

  The reason for these patches is that I recently encountered a circular
  dependency problem that came about when I produced some patches to
  optimise get_order() by rewriting it to use ilog2().

  This uses bitops - and on the SH arch asm/bitops.h drags in
  asm-generic/get_order.h by a circuituous route involving asm/system.h.

  The main difficulty seems to be asm/system.h. It holds a number of
  low level bits with no/few dependencies that are commonly used (eg.
  memory barriers) and a number of bits with more dependencies that
  aren't used in many places (eg. switch_to()).

  These patches break asm/system.h up into the following core pieces:

    (1) asm/barrier.h

        Move memory barriers here. This already done for MIPS and Alpha.

    (2) asm/switch_to.h

        Move switch_to() and related stuff here.

    (3) asm/exec.h

        Move arch_align_stack() here. Other process execution related bits
        could perhaps go here from asm/processor.h.

    (4) asm/cmpxchg.h

        Move xchg() and cmpxchg() here as they're full word atomic ops and
        frequently used by atomic_xchg() and atomic_cmpxchg().

    (5) asm/bug.h

        Move die() and related bits.

    (6) asm/auxvec.h

        Move AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH here.

  Other arch headers are created as needed on a per-arch basis."

Fixed up some conflicts from other header file cleanups and moving code
around that has happened in the meantime, so David's testing is somewhat
weakened by that. We'll find out anything that got broken and fix it..

Linus Torvalds 9e4db1c3ee Merge branch 'platforms' of git://git.linaro.org/people/rmk/linux-arm
Pull ARM platform updates from Russell King:
 "This covers platform stuff for platforms I have a direct interest in
  (iow, I have the hardware). Essentially:
   - as we no longer support any other Acorn platforms other than RiscPC
     anymore, we can collect all that code into mach-rpc.
   - convert Acorn expansion card stuff to use IRQ allocation functions,
     and get rid of NO_IRQ from there.
   - cleanups to the ebsa110 platform to move some private stuff out of
     its header files.
   - large amount of SA11x0 updates:
   - conversion of private DMA implementation to DMA engine support
     (this actually gives us greater flexibility in drivers over the old
     API.)
   - re-worked ucb1x00 updates - convert to genirq, remove sa11x0
     dependencies, fix various minor issues
   - move platform specific sa11x0 framebuffer data into platform files
     in arch/arm instead of keeping this in the driver itself
   - update sa11x0 IrDA driver for DMA engine, and allow it to use DMA
     for SIR transmissions as well as FIR
   - rework sa1111 support for genirq, and irq allocation
   - fix sa1111 IRQ support so it works again
   - use sparse IRQ support

  After this, I have one more pull request remaining from my current
  set, which I think is going to be the most problematical as it
  generates 8 conflicts."

Pull PCI changes (including maintainer change) from Jesse Barnes:
 "This pull has some good cleanups from Bjorn and Yinghai, as well as

  when enabled.

  There's also a new initcall_debug feature from Arjan which will print
  out quirk timing information to help identify slow quirks for fixing
  or refinement (Yinghai sent in a few patches to do just that once the
  new debug code landed).

  Beyond that, I'm handing off PCI maintainership to Bjorn Helgaas.
  He's been a core PCI and Linux contributor for some time now, and has
  kindly volunteered to take over. I just don't feel I have the time
  for PCI review and work that it deserves lately (I've taken on some
  other projects), and haven't been as responsive lately as I'd like, so
  I approached Bjorn asking if he'd like to manage things. He's going

  have in keeping the tree managed, patches flowing, and keeping things
  stable."

Russell King 025e4ab3db pcmcia: fix socket refcount decrementing on each resume
This fixes a memory-corrupting bug: not only does it cause the warning,
but as a result of dropping the refcount to zero, it causes the
pcmcia_socket0 device structure to be freed while it still has
references, causing slab caches corruption. A fatal oops quickly
follows this warning - often even just a 'dmesg' following the warning
causes the kernel to oops.

While testing suspend/resume on an ARM device with PCMCIA support, and a
CF card inserted, I found that after five suspend and resumes, the
kernel would complain, and shortly die after with slab corruption.

Looking at commit 7b24e79882 ("pcmcia: split up central event handler"),
the following change was made to cs.c:

                return 0;
        }
 #endif
-
-       send_event(skt, CS_EVENT_PM_RESUME, CS_EVENT_PRI_LOW);
+       if (!(skt->state & SOCKET_CARDBUS) && (skt->callback))
+               skt->callback->early_resume(skt);
        return 0;
 }

And the corresponding change in ds.c is from:

-static int ds_event(struct pcmcia_socket *skt, event_t event, int priority)
-{
-       struct pcmcia_socket *s = pcmcia_get_socket(skt);
...
-       switch (event) {
...
-       case CS_EVENT_PM_RESUME:
-               if (verify_cis_cache(skt) != 0) {
-                       dev_dbg(&skt->dev, "cis mismatch - different card\n");
-                       /* first, remove the card */
-                       ds_event(skt, CS_EVENT_CARD_REMOVAL, CS_EVENT_PRI_HIGH);
-                       mutex_lock(&s->ops_mutex);
-                       destroy_cis_cache(skt);
-                       kfree(skt->fake_cis);
-                       skt->fake_cis = NULL;
-                       s->functions = 0;
-                       mutex_unlock(&s->ops_mutex);
- /* now, add the new card */
-                       ds_event(skt, CS_EVENT_CARD_INSERTION,
-                                CS_EVENT_PRI_LOW);
-               }
-               break;
...
-    }

-    pcmcia_put_socket(s);

-    return 0;
-} /* ds_event */

to:

+static int pcmcia_bus_early_resume(struct pcmcia_socket *skt)
+{
+       if (!verify_cis_cache(skt)) {
+               pcmcia_put_socket(skt);
+               return 0;
+       }

+       dev_dbg(&skt->dev, "cis mismatch - different card\n");

+       /* first, remove the card */
+       pcmcia_bus_remove(skt);
+       mutex_lock(&skt->ops_mutex);
+       destroy_cis_cache(skt);
+       kfree(skt->fake_cis);
+       skt->fake_cis = NULL;
+       skt->functions = 0;
+       mutex_unlock(&skt->ops_mutex);

+ /* now, add the new card */
+       pcmcia_bus_add(skt);
+       return 0;
+}

As can be seen, the original function called pcmcia_get_socket() and
pcmcia_put_socket() around the guts, whereas the replacement code
calls pcmcia_put_socket() only in one path. This creates an imbalance
in the refcounting.

Testing with pcmcia_put_socket() put removed shows that the bug is gone:

  dpm_suspend_noirq: c1a10998 [pcmcia_socket0] 5

Alan Stern ed283e9f0a USB/PCI/PCMCIA: Clean up new_id and remove_id sysfs attribute routines
This patch (as1514) cleans up some places where new_id and remove_id
sysfs attributes are created and deleted. Handling both attributes in
a single routine rather than a pair of routines makes the code
smaller. It also prevents certain kinds of errors, like one we
currently have in the USB subsystem: The removeid attribute is often
created even when newid isn't (because the driver's no_dynamid_id flag
is set).

In the case of the PCMCIA subsystem, the newid attribute is created
but never explicitly deleted. The patch adds a deletion routine.

Alan Stern cef9bc56e1 Dynamic ID addition doesn't need get_driver()
As part of the removal of get_driver()/put_driver(), this patch
(as1511) changes all the places that add dynamic IDs for drivers.
Since these additions are done by writing to the drivers' sysfs
attribute files, and the attributes are removed when the drivers are
unregistered, there is no reason to take an extra reference to the
drivers.

The one exception is the pci-stub driver, which calls pci_add_dynid()
as part of its registration. But again, there's no reason to take an
extra reference here, because the driver can't be unloaded while it is
being registered.

Russell King 7a3f8de5a3 ARM: PXA: fix includes in pxa2xx_cm_x2xx PCMCIA driver
The includes in the pxa2xx_cm_x2xx PCMCIA driver are rather random;
the driver doesn't require anything from these headers except the
cpu_is_xxx() macros which come from another include.

The concern is that it's getting these definitions via mach/system.h,
which is supposed to only be included by arch/arm/kernel/process.c.
As this header is scheduled for cleanup (and elimination) keeping
the status quo will cause build errors. So lets fix properly and
independent of the future work.

Pavel Machek 5b703683b6 pcmcia vs. MECR on pxa25x/sa1111
After 2.6.34 changes, __pxa2xx_drv_pcmcia_probe() was replaced by
sa1111_pcmcia_add(). That unfortunately means that configure_sockets()
is not called, leading to MECR not being set properly, leading to
strange crashes.

cleaner solution exists?

David Rientjes 6a108a14fa kconfig: rename CONFIG_EMBEDDED to CONFIG_EXPERT
The meaning of CONFIG_EMBEDDED has long since been obsoleted; the option
is used to configure any non-standard kernel with a much larger scope than
only small devices.

This patch renames the option to CONFIG_EXPERT in init/Kconfig and fixes
references to the option throughout the kernel. A new CONFIG_EMBEDDED
option is added that automatically selects CONFIG_EXPERT when enabled and
can be used in the future to isolate options that should only be
considered for embedded systems (RISC architectures, SLOB, etc).

Calling the option "EXPERT" more accurately represents its intention: only
expert users who understand the impact of the configuration changes they
are making should enable it.

Dominik Brodowski 7feabb6412 pcmcia: move config_{base,index,regs} to struct pcmcia_device
Several drivers prefer to explicitly set config_{base,index,regs},
formerly known as ConfigBase, ConfigIndex and Present. Instead of
passing these values inside config_req_t, store it in struct
pcmcia_device.

Dominik Brodowski 37979e1546 pcmcia: simplify IntType
IntType was only set to INT_MEMORY (driver pcmciamtd) or INT_MEMORY_AND_IO
(all other drivers). As this flags seems to relate to ioport access, make
it conditional to the driver having requested IO port access. There are two
drivers which do not request IO ports, but did set INT_MEMORY_AND_IO:
ray_cs and b43. For those, we consistently only set INT_MEMORY in future.

Dominik Brodowski fc30110103 pcmcia: simplify Status, ExtStatus register access
The Status (CISREG_CCSR) and ExtStatus (CISREG_ESR) registers were
only accessed to enable audio output for some drivers and IRQ for
serial_cs.c. The former also required setting config_req_t.Attributes
to CONF_ENABLE_SPKR; the latter can be simplified to setting this
field to CONF_ENABLE_ESR.

Dominik Brodowski 1a4a046030 pcmcia: remove Pin, Copy configuration register access
The "Pin" and "Copy" configuration registers (CISREG_SCR, CISREG_PPR)
do not seem to be utilized anywhere. If a device would request a
write to these registers, "0" would be written. Continue to do so, but
warn of unexpected behavior -- and remove the "Pin" and "Copy" entries
from config_req_t.

Dominik Brodowski fb49fa533f pcmcia: split up modify_configuration() into two fixup functions
pcmcia_modify_configuration() was only used by two drivers to fix up
one issue each: setting the Vpp to a different value, and reducing
the IO width to 8 bit. Introduce two explicitly named functions
handling these things, and remove one further typedef.

Dominik Brodowski cdb138080b pcmcia: do not use win_req_t when calling pcmcia_request_window()
Instead of win_req_t, drivers are now requested to fill out
struct pcmcia_device *p_dev->resource[2,3,4,5] for up to four iomem
ranges. After a call to pcmcia_request_window(), the windows found there
are reserved and may be used until pcmcia_release_window() is called.
