The original method uses an array to store the rx information. The
new one uses a list to link each rx structure. Then, it is possible
to increase/decrease the number of rx structure dynamically.

The different chips may accept different rx buffer sizes. The RTL8152
supports 16K bytes, and RTL8153 support 32K bytes.

Set the flag of RTL8152_UNPLUG if and only if the device is unplugged.
Some error codes sometimes don't mean the real disconnection of usb device.
For those situations, set the flag of RTL8152_UNPLUG causes the driver skips
some flows of disabling the device, and it let the device stay at incorrect
state.

r8153b_rx_agg_chg_indicate() needs to be called after enabling TX/RX and
before calling rxdy_gated_en(tp, false). Otherwise, the change of the
settings of RX aggregation wouldn't work.
Besides, adjust rtl8152_set_coalesce() for the same reason. If
rx_coalesce_usecs is changed, restart TX/RX to let the setting work.

2. Correct the setting. The enable bit should be 0xd38c bit 0. Besides,

Without this patch the socket address family sporadically gets wrong

On some platforms it is possible to dynamically change the policy
of what MAC address is selected from the ASL at runtime.
These tools will reset the USB device and expect the change to be
made immediately.

It should be added to the whitelist of devices to activate MAC address
pass through.

The driver does not check for Wake-on-LAN modes specified by an user,
but will conditionally set the device as wake-up enabled or not based on
that, which could be a very confusing user experience.

When unplugging an r8152 adapter while the interface is UP, the NIC
becomes unusable. usb->disconnect (aka rtl8152_disconnect) deletes
napi. Then, rtl8152_disconnect calls unregister_netdev and that invokes
netdev->ndo_stop (aka rtl8152_close). rtl8152_close tries to
napi_disable, but the napi is already deleted by disconnect above. So
the first while loop in napi_disable never finishes. This results in
complete deadlock of the network layer as there is rtnl_mutex held by
unregister_netdev.
So avoid the call to napi_disable in rtl8152_close when the device is
already gone.
The other calls to usb_kill_urb, cancel_delayed_work_sync,
netif_stop_queue etc. seem to be fine. The urb and netdev is not
destroyed yet.

The USB completion callback does not disable interrupts while acquiring
the lock. We want to remove the local_irq_disable() invocation from
__usb_hcd_giveback_urb() and therefore it is required for the callback
handler to disable the interrupts while acquiring the lock.
The callback may be invoked either in IRQ or BH context depending on the
USB host controller.
Use the _irqsave() variant of the locking primitives.

r8152 driver handles TSO packets (limited to ~16KB) quite well,
but pretends each TSO logical packet is a single packet on the wire.
There is also some error since headers are accounted once, but
error rate is small enough that we do not care.

Set rx mode before calling netif_wake_queue() when linking on to avoid
the device missing the receiving packets.
The transmission may start after calling netif_wake_queue(), and the
packets of resopnse may reach before calling rtl8152_set_rx_mode()
which let the device could receive packets. Then, the packets of
response would be missed.

The device could only check the checksum of TCP and UDP packets. Therefore,
for the IPv4 packets excluding TCP and UDP, the check of checksum is necessary,
even though the IP checksum is correct.
Take ICMP for example, The IP checksum may be correct, but the ICMP checksum
may be wrong.

r8153 on Dell TB15/16 dock corrupts rx packets.
This change is suggested by Realtek. They guess that the XHCI controller
doesn't have enough buffer, and their guesswork is correct, once the RX
aggregation gets disabled, the issue is gone.
ASMedia is currently working on a real sulotion for this issue.
Dell and ODM confirm the bcdDevice and iSerialNumber is unique for TB16.
Note that TB15 has different bcdDevice and iSerialNumber, which are not
unique values. If you still have TB15, please contact Dell to replace it
with TB16.

Move calling delay_autosuspend() in rtl8152_runtime_suspend(). Calling
delay_autosuspend() as late as possible.
The original flows are
1. check if the driver/device is busy now.
2. set wake events.
3. enter runtime suspend.
If the wake event occurs between (1) and (2), the device may miss it. Besides,
to avoid the runtime resume occurs after runtime suspend immediately, move the
checking to the end of rtl8152_runtime_suspend().

Add byte_enable for ocp_read_word() to replace reading 4
bytes data with reading the desired 2 bytes data.
This is used to avoid the issue which is described in
commit b4d99def09 ("r8152: remove sram_read"). The
original method always reads 4 bytes data, and it may
have problem when reading the PHY registers.
The new method is supported since RTL8153B, but it
doesn't influence the previous chips. The bits of the
byte_enable for the previous chips are the reserved
bits, and the hw would ignore them.

The linking status may be changed when autosuspend. And, after
autoresume, the driver may try to transmit packets when the device
is carrier off, because the interrupt transfer doesn't update the
linking status, yet. And, if the device is in ALDPS mode, the device
would stop working.
The another similar case is
1. unplug the cable.
2. interrupt transfer queue a work_queue for linking change.
3. device enters the ALDPS mode.
4. a tx occurs before the work_queue is called.

Set the received maximum size (RMS) according to the mtu size. It is
unnecessary to receive a packet which is more than the size we could

Schedule the napi after napi_enable() for rx, if it is necessary.
If the rx is completed when napi is disabled, the sheduling of napi
would be lost. Then, no one handles the rx packet until next napi
is scheduled.

In r8152_poll(), if the tx is completed after tx_bottom() and before

Fix the hw rx checksum is always enabled, and the user couldn't switch
it to sw rx checksum.
Note that the RTL_VER_01 only support sw rx checksum only. Besides,
the hw rx checksum for RTL_VER_02 is disabled after
commit b9a321b48a ("r8152: Fix broken RX checksums."). Re-enable it.

Pause the rx and make sure the rx fifo is empty when the autosuspend
occurs.
If the rx data comes when the driver is canceling the rx urb, the host
controller would stop getting the data from the device and continue
it after next rx urb is submitted. That is, one continuing data is
split into two different urb buffers. That let the driver take the
data as a rx descriptor, and unexpected behavior happens.

The r8152 driver has been broken since (approx) 3.16.xx
when support was added for hardware RX checksums
on newer chip versions. Symptoms include random
segfaults and silent data corruption over NFS.
The hardware checksum logig does not work on the VER_02
dongles I have here when used with a slow embedded system CPU.
Google reveals others reporting similar issues on Raspberry Pi.
So, disable hardware RX checksum support for VER_02, and fix
an obvious coding error for IPV6 checksums in the same function.
Because this bug results in silent data corruption,
it is a good candidate for back-porting to -stable >= 3.16.xx.

With centralized MTU checking, there's nothing productive done by
eth_change_mtu that isn't already done in dev_set_mtu, so mark it as
deprecated and remove all usage of it in the kernel. All callers have been
audited for calls to alloc_etherdev* or ether_setup directly, which means
they all have a valid dev->min_mtu and dev->max_mtu. Now eth_change_mtu
prints out a netdev_warn about being deprecated, for the benefit of
out-of-tree drivers that might be utilizing it.
Of note, dvb_net.c actually had dev->mtu = 4096, while using
eth_change_mtu, meaning that if you ever tried changing it's mtu, you
couldn't set it above 1500 anymore. It's now getting dev->max_mtu also set
to 4096 to remedy that.

The RTL8153-AD supports a persistent system specific MAC address.
This means a device plugged into two different systems with host side
support will show different (but persistent) MAC addresses.
This information for the system's persistent MAC address is burned in when
the system HW is built and available under \_SB.AMAC in the DSDT at runtime.
This technology is currently implemented in the Dell TB15 and WD15 Type-C

After commit 90186af404 ("r8152: fix lockup when runtime PM is enabled"),
the autoresume wouldn't start the device before rtl8152_open() is finished.
Therefore, we don't have to reset the linking status before and after
autoresume. That is, one of netif_carrier_off() in rtl8152_open() could be
removed.

In rtl_hw_phy_work_func_t(), the flag of PHY_RESET is set in
rtl_ops.hw_phy_cfg() and cleared in rtl8152_set_speed(). Therefore,
the rtl_phy_reset() is never run and is unnecessary.

The LAN_WAKE_EN is not used to determine if the device could support
WOL. It is used to signal a GPIO pin when a WOL event occurs. The WOL
still works even though it is disabled.

Move the settings of PHY to a work queue and schedule it after
rtl_ops.init().
There are some reasons for this. First, the settings are only
needed for the first time initialization or after the power
down occurs.
Second, the settings are independent with the others.
Last, the settings may take more time than the others. Leave
they in probe() or open() may delay the following flows.

When the autosuspend is enabled and occurs before system suspend, we should
wake the device before running system syspend. Then, we could change the wake
event for system suspend. Otherwise, the device would resume the system when
receiving any packet.

When the reset_resume() is called, the flag of SELECTIVE_SUSPEND should be
cleared and reinitialize the device, whether the SELECTIVE_SUSPEND is set
or not. If reset_resume() is called, it means the power supply is cut or the
device is reset. That is, the device wouldn't be in runtime suspend state and
the reinitialization is necessary.

The name NETIF_F_ALL_CSUM is a misnomer. This does not correspond to the
set of features for offloading all checksums. This is a mask of the
checksum offload related features bits. It is incorrect to set both
NETIF_F_HW_CSUM and NETIF_F_IP_CSUM or NETIF_F_IPV6 at the same time for
features of a device.
This patch:
- Changes instances of NETIF_F_ALL_CSUM to NETIF_F_CSUM_MASK (where
NETIF_F_ALL_CSUM is being used as a mask).
- Changes bonding, sfc/efx, ipvlan, macvlan, vlan, and team drivers to
use NEITF_F_HW_CSUM in features list instead of NETIF_F_ALL_CSUM.

When an interface is brought up which was previously suspended (via
runtime PM), it would hang. This happens because napi_disable is called
before napi_enable.
Solve this by avoiding napi_enable in the resume during open function
(netif_running is true when open is called, IFF_UP is set after a
successful open; netif_running is false when close is called, but IFF_UP
is then still set).
While at it, remove WORK_ENABLE check from rtl8152_open (introduced with
the original change) because it cannot happen:
- After this patch, runtime resume will not set it during rtl8152_open.
- When link is up, rtl8152_open is not called.
- When link is down during system/auto suspend/resume, it is not set.

The UEFI driver would enable zero length, and the Linux driver doesn't
need it. Zero length let the hw complete the transfer with length 0,
when there is no received packet. It would add the load of USB host
controller and reduce the performance.

- Disable lpm when linking is on, and enable it when linking is off.
- Disable U1/U2 when enabling runtime suspend.
It is possible to let hw stop working, if the U1/U2 request occurs
during some situations. The patch is used to avoid it.

There is a capability which let the hw could change the settings
automatically when the power change to ON. However, the USB reset
would reset the settings to the hw default, so the driver has to
restore the relative settings. Otherwise, it would influence the
functions of the hw, and the compatibility for the USB hub and
USB host controller.
The relative settings are as following.
- set the power down scale to 96.
- enable the power saving function of USB 2.0.
- disable the ALDPS of ECM mode.
- set burst mode depending on the burst size.
- enable the flow control of endpoint full.
- set fifo empty boundary to 32448 bytes.
- enable the function of exiting LPM when Rx OK occurs.
- set the connect timer to 1.

Read OCP register 0xa43a~0xa43b would clear some flags which the hw
would use, and it may let the device lost. However, the unit of

For ocp_write_word() and ocp_write_byte(), there is a generic_ocp_read()
which is used to read the whole 4 byte data, keep the unchanged bytes,
and modify the expected bytes. However, the "byen" could be used to
determine which bytes of the 4 bytes to write, so the action could be
removed.

Redefine REALTEK_USB_DEVICE for the desired USB interface for probe().
There are three USB interfaces for the device. USB_CLASS_COMM and
USB_CLASS_CDC_DATA are for ECM mode (config #2). USB_CLASS_VENDOR_SPEC
is for the vendor mode (config #1). However, we are not interesting
in USB_CLASS_CDC_DATA for probe(), so redefine REALTEK_USB_DEVICE
to ignore the USB interface class of USB_CLASS_CDC_DATA.

Let the tasklet only be enabled after open(), and be disabled for
the other situation. The tasklet is only necessary after open() for
tx/rx, so it could be disabled by default.

For Renesas USB 3.0 host controller, when unplugging the usb hub which
has the RTL8153 plugged, the driver would get -EPROTO for interrupt
transfer. There is high probability to get the information of "HC died;
cleaning up", if the driver continues to submit the interrupt transfer
before the disconnect() is called.

If (tp->speed & LINK_STATUS) is not zero, the rtl8152_resume()
would call rtl_start_rx() before enabling the tx/rx. Avoid this
by resetting it to zero.

The flag of SELECTIVE_SUSPEND should be cleared when autoresuming.
Otherwise, when the system suspend and resume occur, it may have
the wrong flow.
Besides, because the flag of SELECTIVE_SUSPEND couldn't be used
to check if the hw enables the relative feature, it should alwayes
be disabled in close().

Remove calling cancel_delayed_work_sync() for runtime suspend,
because it would cause dead lock. Instead, return -EBUSY to
avoid the device enters suspending if the net is running and
the delayed work is pending or running. The delayed work would
try to wake up the device later, so the suspending is not
necessary.

The xxx_clear_bp() is used to halt the firmware. It only necessary
for updating the new firmware. Besides, depend on the version of
the current firmware, it may have problem to halt the firmware
directly. Finally, halt the firmware would let the firmware code
useless, and the bugs which are fixed by the firmware would occur.

The flag of RTL8152_UNPLUG should only be set when the device is
unplugged, not each time the rtl8152_disconnect() is called.
Otherwise, the device wouldn't be stopped normally.

netif_carrier_off would be called when autoresuming, even though
the cable is plugged. This causes some applications do relative
actions when detecting the carrier off. Keep the status of the
carrier, and let it be modified when the linking change occurs.

If the hw is in ALDPS mode, the hw may have no response for accessing
the most registers. Therefore, the ALDPS should be disabled before
accessing the hw in rtl_ops.init(), rtl_ops.disable(), rtl_ops.up(),
and rtl_ops.down(). Regardless of rtl_ops.enable(), because the hw
wouldn't enter ALDPS mode when linking on. The hw would enter the
ALDPS mode after several seconds when link down occurs and the ALDPS
is enabled.

Because the Tx has the features of stopping queue and aggregation,
We don't need many tx buffers. Change the tx number from 10 to 4
to reduce the usage of the memory. This could save 16K * 6 bytes
memory.

When the usb speed of the RTL8152 is not high speed, the USB_DEV_STAT[2:1]
should be equal to [0 1]. That is, the STAT_SPEED_FULL should be equal
to 2.
There is a easy way to check the usb speed by the speed field of the
struct usb_device. Use it to replace the original metheod.

The transport offset of the IPv4 packet should be fixed and wouldn't
be out of the hw limitation, so the r8152_csum_workaround() should
be used for IPv6 packets.

The maximum jumbo frame size for RTL8153 is 9K bytes.
Change the max rx packet size to 9K.
Change the use of the shared fifo from 6K (default) to 12K for tx.

When the system is too busy to complete the urb, the tx timout function
would be called. This causes the other tx urbs would be killed, too.
Increase the tx timeout to avoid it.

When the device is unplugged, the driver would try to disable the
device. Add checking the flag of RTL8152_UNPLUG to skip setting
the device when it is unplugged. This could shorten the time of
unloading the driver.
