On SM8550, the non-altmode orientation is not given anymore within
altmode events, even with USB SVIDs events.
On the other side, the Type-C connector orientation is correctly
reported by a signal from the PMIC.
Take this gpio signal when we detect some Type-C port activity
to notify any Type-C switches tied to the Type-C port connectors.

In Synopsys's dwc3 data book:
To avoid underrun and overrun during the burst, in a high-latency bus
system (like USB), threshold and burst size control is provided through
GTXTHRCFG and GRXTHRCFG registers.
In Realtek DHC SoC, DWC3 USB 3.0 uses AHB system bus. When dwc3 is
connected with USB 2.5G Ethernet, there will be overrun problem.
Therefore, setting TX/RX thresholds can avoid this issue.

If this driver enables the xHC clocks while resuming from sleep, it calls
clk_prepare_enable() without checking for errors and blithely goes on to
read/write the xHC's registers -- which, with the xHC not being clocked,
at least on ARM32 usually causes an imprecise external abort exceptions
which cause kernel oops. Currently, the chips for which the driver does
the clock dance on suspend/resume seem to be the Broadcom STB SoCs, based

by commit a611bf473d ("xhci-pci: Set runtime PM as default policy on all

In _dwc2_hcd_urb_enqueue(), "urb->hcpriv = NULL" is executed without
holding the lock "hsotg->lock". In _dwc2_hcd_urb_dequeue():
spin_lock_irqsave(&hsotg->lock, flags);
...
if (!urb->hcpriv) {
dev_dbg(hsotg->dev, "## urb->hcpriv is NULL ##\n");
goto out;
}
rc = dwc2_hcd_urb_dequeue(hsotg, urb->hcpriv); // Use urb->hcpriv
...
out:
spin_unlock_irqrestore(&hsotg->lock, flags);
When _dwc2_hcd_urb_enqueue() and _dwc2_hcd_urb_dequeue() are
concurrently executed, the NULL check of "urb->hcpriv" can be executed
before "urb->hcpriv = NULL". After urb->hcpriv is NULL, it can be used
in the function call to dwc2_hcd_urb_dequeue(), which can cause a NULL
pointer dereference.
This possible bug is found by an experimental static analysis tool
developed by myself. This tool analyzes the locking APIs to extract
function pairs that can be concurrently executed, and then analyzes the
instructions in the paired functions to identify possible concurrency
bugs including data races and atomicity violations. The above possible
bug is reported, when my tool analyzes the source code of Linux 6.5.
To fix this possible bug, "urb->hcpriv = NULL" should be executed with
holding the lock "hsotg->lock". After using this patch, my tool never
reports the possible bug, with the kernelconfiguration allyesconfig for
x86_64. Because I have no associated hardware, I cannot test the patch
in runtime testing, and just verify it according to the code logic.

commit e8033bde451eddfb9b1bbd6e2d848c1b5c277222 upstream.
Currently, if a USB request that was queued by Raw Gadget is interrupted
(via a signal), wait_for_completion_interruptible returns -ERESTARTSYS.
Raw Gadget then attempts to propagate this value to userspace as a return
value from its ioctls. However, when -ERESTARTSYS is returned by a syscall
handler, the kernel internally restarts the syscall.
This doesn't allow userspace applications to interrupt requests queued by
Raw Gadget (which is required when the emulated device is asked to switch
altsettings). It also violates the implied interface of Raw Gadget that a
single ioctl must only queue a single USB request.
Instead, make Raw Gadget do what GadgetFS does: check whether the request
was interrupted (dequeued with status == -ECONNRESET) and report -EINTR to
userspace.

On some OEM systems, adding a W7900 dGPU triggers RAS errors and hangs
at a black screen on startup. This issue occurs only if `ucsi_acpi` has
loaded before `amdgpu` has loaded. The reason for this failure is that
`amdgpu` uses power_supply_is_system_supplied() to determine if running
on AC or DC power at startup. If this value is reported incorrectly the
dGPU will also be programmed incorrectly and trigger errors.
power_supply_is_system_supplied() reports the wrong value because UCSI
power supplies provided as part of the system don't properly report the
scope as "DEVICE" scope (not powering the system).
In order to fix this issue check the capabilities reported from the UCSI
power supply to ensure that it supports charging a battery and that it can
be powered by AC. Mark the scope accordingly.

The Event Handler Busy bit shall be cleared by software when the Event
Ring is empty. The xHC is thereby informed that it may raise another
interrupt once it has enqueued new events (sec 4.17.2).
However since commit dc0ffbea57 ("usb: host: xhci: update event ring
dequeue pointer on purpose"), the EHB bit is already cleared after half
a segment has been processed.
As a result, spurious interrupts may occur:
- xhci_irq() processes half a segment, clears EHB, continues processing
remaining events.
- xHC enqueues new events. Because EHB has been cleared, xHC sets
Interrupt Pending bit. Interrupt moderation countdown begins.
- Meanwhile xhci_irq() continues processing events. Interrupt
moderation countdown reaches zero, so an MSI interrupt is signaled.
- xhci_irq() empties the Event Ring, clears EHB again and is done.
- Because an MSI interrupt has been signaled, xhci_irq() is run again.
It discovers there's nothing to do and returns IRQ_NONE.
Avoid by clearing the EHB bit only at the end of xhci_irq().

xhci-hub.c tracks suspended ports in a suspended_port bitfield.
This is checked when responding to a Get_Status(PORT) request to see if a
port in running U0 state was recently resumed, and adds the required
USB_PORT_STAT_C_SUSPEND change bit in those cases.
The suspended_port bit was left uncleared if a device is disconnected
during suspend. The bit remained set even when a new device was connected
and enumerated. The set bit resulted in a incorrect Get_Status(PORT)
response with a bogus USB_PORT_STAT_C_SUSPEND change
bit set once the new device reached U0 link state.
USB_PORT_STAT_C_SUSPEND change bit is only used for USB2 ports, but
xhci-hub keeps track of both USB2 and USB3 suspended ports.

As mentioned in:
commit 474ed23a62 ("xhci: align the last trb before link if it is
easily splittable.")
A bounce buffer is utilized for ensuring that transfers that span across
ring segments are aligned to the EP's max packet size. However, the device
that is used to map the DMA buffer to is currently using the XHCI HCD,
which does not carry any DMA operations in certain configrations.
Migration to using the sysdev entry was introduced for DWC3 based
implementations where the IOMMU operations are present.

Currently if ucsi_send_command() fails, then we bail out without

When there's phy initialization, we need to initiate a soft-reset
sequence. That's done through USBCMD.HCRST in the xHCI driver and its
initialization, However, the dwc3 driver may modify core configs before
the soft-reset. This may result in some connection instability. So,
ensure the phy is ready before the controller updates the GCTL.PRTCAPDIR
or other settings by issuing phy soft-reset.
Note that some host-mode configurations may not expose device registers
to initiate the controller soft-reset (via DCTL.CoreSftRst). So we reset
through GUSB3PIPECTL and GUSB2PHYCFG instead.

Merge tag 'v6.6-vfs.ctime' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/vfs
Pull vfs timestamp updates from Christian Brauner:
"This adds VFS support for multi-grain timestamps and converts tmpfs,
xfs, ext4, and btrfs to use them. This carries acks from all relevant
filesystems.
The VFS always uses coarse-grained timestamps when updating the ctime
and mtime after a change. This has the benefit of allowing filesystems
to optimize away a lot of metadata updates, down to around 1 per
jiffy, even when a file is under heavy writes.
Unfortunately, this has always been an issue when we're exporting via
NFSv3, which relies on timestamps to validate caches. A lot of changes
can happen in a jiffy, so timestamps aren't sufficient to help the
client decide to invalidate the cache.
Even with NFSv4, a lot of exported filesystems don't properly support
a change attribute and are subject to the same problems with timestamp
granularity. Other applications have similar issues with timestamps
(e.g., backup applications).
If we were to always use fine-grained timestamps, that would improve
the situation, but that becomes rather expensive, as the underlying
filesystem would have to log a lot more metadata updates.
This introduces fine-grained timestamps that are used when they are
actively queried.
This uses the 31st bit of the ctime tv_nsec field to indicate that
something has queried the inode for the mtime or ctime. When this flag
is set, on the next mtime or ctime update, the kernel will fetch a
fine-grained timestamp instead of the usual coarse-grained one.
As POSIX generally mandates that when the mtime changes, the ctime
must also change the kernel always stores normalized ctime values, so
only the first 30 bits of the tv_nsec field are ever used.
Filesytems can opt into this behavior by setting the FS_MGTIME flag in
the fstype. Filesystems that don't set this flag will continue to use
coarse-grained timestamps.
Various preparatory changes, fixes and cleanups are included:
- Fixup all relevant places where POSIX requires updating ctime
together with mtime. This is a wide-range of places and all
maintainers provided necessary Acks.
- Add new accessors for inode->i_ctime directly and change all
callers to rely on them. Plain accesses to inode->i_ctime are now
gone and it is accordingly rename to inode->__i_ctime and commented
as requiring accessors.
- Extend generic_fillattr() to pass in a request mask mirroring in a
sense the statx() uapi. This allows callers to pass in a request
mask to only get a subset of attributes filled in.
- Rework timestamp updates so it's possible to drop the @now
parameter the update_time() inode operation and associated helpers.
- Add inode_update_timestamps() and convert all filesystems to it
removing a bunch of open-coding"

When sending Discover Identity messages to a Port Partner that uses Power
Delivery v2 and SVDM v1, we currently send PD v2 messages with SVDM v2.0,
expecting the port partner to respond with its highest supported SVDM
version as stated in Section 6.4.4.2.3 in the Power Delivery v3
specification. However, sending SVDM v2 to some Power Delivery v2 port
partners results in a NAK whereas sending SVDM v1 does not.
NAK messages can be handled by the initiator (PD v3 section 6.4.4.2.5.1),
and one solution could be to resend Discover Identity on a lower SVDM
version if possible. But, Section 6.4.4.3 of PD v2 states that "A NAK
response Should be taken as an indication not to retry that particular
Command."
Instead, we can set the SVDM version to the maximum one supported by the
negotiated PD revision. When operating in PD v2, this obeys Section
6.4.4.2.3, which states the SVDM field "Shall be set to zero to indicate
Version 1.0." In PD v3, the SVDM field "Shall be set to 01b to indicate
Version 2.0."

If the serial device never reads data written to it (because it is "output
only") then the write buffers will still be waiting for the URB to complete
on close(), which will hang for 30s until the closing_wait timeout expires.
This can happen with the ESP32-H2/ESP32-C6 USB serial interface. Changing
the port closing_wait timeout is a privileged operation but flushing the
output buffer is not a privileged operation.
Implement the flush_buffer tty operation to cancel in-progress writes so
that tcflush(fd, TCOFLUSH) can be used to unblock the serial port before

Commit 85d07c5562 ("USB: core: Unite old scheme and new scheme
descriptor reads") altered the way USB devices are enumerated
following detection, and in the process it messed up the
initialization of SuperSpeed (or faster) devices:
[ 31.650759] usb 2-1: new SuperSpeed Plus Gen 2x1 USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd
[ 31.663107] usb 2-1: device descriptor read/8, error -71

[ 31.965122] usb 2-1: device descriptor read/8, error -71
[ 32.080991] usb usb2-port1: attempt power cycle
...
The problem was caused by the commit forgetting that in SuperSpeed or
faster devices, the device descriptor uses a logarithmic encoding of
the bMaxPacketSize0 value. (For some reason I thought the 255 case in
the switch statement was meant for these devices, but it isn't -- it
was meant for Wireless USB and is no longer needed.)
We can fix the oversight by testing for buf->bMaxPacketSize0 = 9
(meaning 512, the actual maxpacket size for ep0 on all SuperSpeed
devices) and straightening out the logic that checks and adjusts our
initial guesses of the maxpacket value.

Some NXP processors using ChipIdea USB IP have a bug when frame babble is

Issue description:
In USB camera test, our controller is host in HS mode. In ISOC IN, when
device sends data across the micro frame, it causes the babble in host
controller. This will clear the PE bit. In spec, it also requires to set
the PEC bit and then set the PCI bit. Without the PCI interrupt, the
software does not know the PE is cleared.

specific conditions are satisfied.

Some NXP processor using chipidea IP has a bug when frame babble is
detected.
As per 4.15.1.1.1 Serial Bus Babble:
A babble condition also exists if IN transaction is in progress at
High-speed SOF2 point. This is called frame babble. The host controller
must disable the port to which the frame babble is detected.
The USB controller has disabled the port (PE cleared) and has asserted
USBERRINT when frame babble is detected, but PEC is not asserted.
Therefore, the SW isn't aware that port has been disabled. Then the
SW keeps sending packets to this port, but all of the transfers will
fail.
This workaround will firstly assert PCD by SW when USBERRINT is detected
and then judge whether port change has really occurred or not by polling
roothub status. Because the PEC doesn't get asserted in our case, this
patch will also assert it by SW when specific conditions are satisfied.

As analyzed by Khazhy Kumykov, the cause of this bug is a race between
read_descriptors() and hub_port_init(): The first routine uses a field
in udev->descriptor, not expecting it to change, while the second
overwrites it.
Prior to commit 45bf39f8df ("USB: core: Don't hold device lock while
reading the "descriptors" sysfs file") this race couldn't occur,
because the routines were mutually exclusive thanks to the device
locking. Removing that locking from read_descriptors() exposed it to
the race.
The best way to fix the bug is to keep hub_port_init() from changing
udev->descriptor once udev has been initialized and registered.
Drivers expect the descriptors stored in the kernel to be immutable;
we should not undermine this expectation. In fact, this change should
have been made long ago.
So now hub_port_init() will take an additional argument, specifying a
buffer in which to store the device descriptor it reads. (If udev has
not yet been initialized, the buffer pointer will be NULL and then
hub_port_init() will store the device descriptor in udev as before.)
This eliminates the data race responsible for the out-of-bounds read.
The changes to hub_port_init() appear more extensive than they really
are, because of indentation changes resulting from an attempt to avoid
writing to other parts of the usb_device structure after it has been
initialized. Similar changes should be made to the code that reads
the BOS descriptor, but that can be handled in a separate patch later
on. This patch is sufficient to fix the bug found by syzbot.

The usb_get_device_descriptor() routine reads the device descriptor
from the udev device and stores it directly in udev->descriptor. This
interface is error prone, because the USB subsystem expects in-memory
copies of a device's descriptors to be immutable once the device has
been initialized.
The interface is changed so that the device descriptor is left in a
kmalloc-ed buffer, not copied into the usb_device structure. A
pointer to the buffer is returned to the caller, who is then
responsible for kfree-ing it. The corresponding changes needed in the
various callers are fairly small.

In preparation for reworking the usb_get_device_descriptor() routine,
it is desirable to unite the two different code paths responsible for
initially determining endpoint 0's maximum packet size in a newly
discovered USB device. Making this determination presents a
chicken-and-egg sort of problem, in that the only way to learn the
maxpacket value is to get it from the device descriptor retrieved from
the device, but communicating with the device to retrieve a descriptor
requires us to know beforehand the ep0 maxpacket size.
In practice this problem is solved in two different ways, referred to
in hub.c as the "old scheme" and the "new scheme". The old scheme
(which is the approach recommended by the USB-2 spec) involves asking
the device to send just the first eight bytes of its device
descriptor. Such a transfer uses packets containing no more than
eight bytes each, and every USB device must have an ep0 maxpacket size
>= 8, so this should succeed. Since the bMaxPacketSize0 field of the
device descriptor lies within the first eight bytes, this is all we
need.
The new scheme is an imitation of the technique used in an early
Windows USB implementation, giving it the happy advantage of working
with a wide variety of devices (some of them at the time would not
work with the old scheme, although that's probably less true now). It
involves making an initial guess of the ep0 maxpacket size, asking the
device to send up to 64 bytes worth of its device descriptor (which is
only 18 bytes long), and then resetting the device to clear any error
condition that might have resulted from the guess being wrong. The
initial guess is determined by the connection speed; it should be
correct in all cases other than full speed, for which the allowed
values are 8, 16, 32, and 64 (in this case the initial guess is 64).
The reason for this patch is that the old- and new-scheme parts of
hub_port_init() use different code paths, one involving
usb_get_device_descriptor() and one not, for their initial reads of
the device descriptor. Since these reads have essentially the same
purpose and are made under essentially the same circumstances, this is
illogical. It makes more sense to have both of them use a common
subroutine.
This subroutine does basically what the new scheme's code did, because
that approach is more general than the one used by the old scheme. It
only needs to know how many bytes to transfer and whether or not it is
being called for the first iteration of a retry loop (in case of
certain time-out errors). There are two main differences from the
former code:
We initialize the bDescriptorType field of the transfer buffer
to 0 before performing the transfer, to avoid possibly
accessing an uninitialized value afterward.
We read the device descriptor into a temporary buffer rather
than storing it directly into udev->descriptor, which the old
scheme implementation used to do.
Since the whole point of this first read of the device descriptor is
to determine the bMaxPacketSize0 value, that is what the new routine
returns (or an error code). The value is stored in a local variable
rather than in udev->descriptor. As a side effect, this necessitates
moving a section of code that checks the bcdUSB field for SuperSpeed
devices until after the full device descriptor has been retrieved.

The problem is that alauda_check_media() doesn't verify that its USB
transfer succeeded before trying to use the received data. What
should happen if the transfer fails isn't entirely clear, but a
reasonably conservative approach is to pretend that no media is
present.
A similar problem exists in a usb_stor_dbg() call in
alauda_get_media_status(). In this case, when an error occurs the
call is redundant, because usb_stor_ctrl_transfer() already will print
a debugging message.
Finally, unrelated to the uninitialized memory access, is the fact
that alauda_check_media() performs DMA to a buffer on the stack.

Currently if we bootup a device without cable connected, then
usb-conn-gpio won't call set_role() because last_role is same
as current role. This happens since last_role gets initialised
to zero during the probe.
To avoid this, add a new flag initial_detection into struct
usb_conn_info, which prevents bailing out during initial
detection.

Avichal Rakesh reported a kernel panic that occurred when the UVC
gadget driver was removed from a gadget's configuration. The panic
involves a somewhat complicated interaction between the kernel driver
and a userspace component (as described in the Link tag below), but
the analysis did make one thing clear: The Gadget core should
accomodate gadget drivers calling usb_gadget_deactivate() as part of
their unbind procedure.
Currently this doesn't work. gadget_unbind_driver() calls
driver->unbind() while holding the udc->connect_lock mutex, and
usb_gadget_deactivate() attempts to acquire that mutex, which will
result in a deadlock.
The simple fix is for gadget_unbind_driver() to release the mutex when
invoking the ->unbind() callback. There is no particular reason for
it to be holding the mutex at that time, and the mutex isn't held
while the ->bind() callback is invoked. So we'll drop the mutex
before performing the unbind callback and reacquire it afterward.
We'll also add a couple of comments to usb_gadget_activate() and
usb_gadget_deactivate(). Because they run in process context they
must not be called from a gadget driver's ->disconnect() callback,
which (according to the kerneldoc for struct usb_gadget_driver in
include/linux/usb/gadget.h) may run in interrupt context. This may
help prevent similar bugs from arising in the future.

When connecting to some DisplayPort partners, the initial status update
after entering DisplayPort Alt Mode notifies that the DFP_D/UFP_D is not in
the connected state. This leads to sending a configure message that keeps
the device in USB mode. The port partner then sets DFP_D/UFP_D to the
connected state and HPD to high in the same Attention message. Currently,
the HPD signal is dropped in order to handle configuration.
This patch saves changes to the HPD signal when the device chooses to
configure during dp_altmode_status_update, and invokes sysfs_notify if
necessary for HPD after configuring.

DWC3 as implemented in Cavium SoC is using UCTL bridge unit
between I/O interconnect and USB controller.
Currently there is no bond with dwc3 core code, so if anything goes
wrong in UCTL setup dwc3 is left in reset, which leads to bus error
while trying to read any device register. Thus any failure in UCTL

Hardware based on the Bay Trail / BYT SoCs require an external ULPI phy for
USB device-mode. The phy chip usually has its 'reset' and 'chip select'
lines connected to GPIOs described by ACPI fwnodes in the DSDT table.
Because of hardware with missing ACPI resources for the 'reset' and 'chip
select' GPIOs commit 5741022cbd ("usb: dwc3: pci: Add GPIO lookup table
on platforms without ACPI GPIO resources") introduced a fallback
gpiod_lookup_table with hard-coded mappings for Bay Trail devices.
However there are existing Bay Trail based devices, like the National
Instruments cRIO-903x series, where the phy chip has its 'reset' and
'chip-select' lines always asserted in hardware via resistor pull-ups. On
this hardware the phy chip is always enabled and the ACPI dsdt table is
missing information not only for the 'chip-select' and 'reset' lines but
also for the BYT GPIO controller itself "INT33FC".
With the introduction of the gpiod_lookup_table initializing the USB
device-mode on these hardware now errors out. The error comes from the
gpiod_get_optional() calls in dwc3_pci_quirks() which will now return an
-ENOENT error due to the missing ACPI entry for the INT33FC gpio controller
used in the aforementioned table.
This hardware used to work before because gpiod_get_optional() will return
NULL instead of -ENOENT if no GPIO has been assigned to the requested
function. The dwc3_pci_quirks() code for setting the 'cs' and 'reset' GPIOs
was then skipped (due to the NULL return). This is the correct behavior in
cases where the phy chip is hardwired and there are no GPIOs to control.
Since the gpiod_lookup_table relies on the presence of INT33FC fwnode
in ACPI tables only add the table if we know the entry for the INT33FC
gpio controller is present. This allows Bay Trail based devices with
hardwired dwc3 ULPI phys to continue working.

This patch allows users to set up MIDI 1.0 ports more flexibly.
Namely, instead of the fixed mapping only from FB 0, now multiple
block definitions are applied to build up the MIDI 1.0 mapping.
The each block config has midi1_first_group and midi1_num_groups
attributes, and those specify which Groups are used for MIDI 1.0.
Those fields must be within the UMP Groups defined in the block
itself.

This patch extends MIDI 2.0 function driver to add more proper support
for MIDI 1.0 interface. Before this patch, the driver only exposes
the USB descriptor of a MIDI 1.0 interface in altset 0 while no actual
I/O is running for it. This patch enables the actual I/O for the
altset 0; the backend UMP rawmidi is translated from/to the MIDI 1.0
USB commands.
For converting to USB MIDI 1.0 data protocol, a helper function is
copied from the existing f_midi driver, in addition to a few other UMP
Core helper functions. For the MIDI 1.0 OUT (that is, input for
gadget), the incoming USB MIDI 1.0 packet is translated to UMP packets
via UMP Core helper, and tossed to the attached UMP rawmidi. It's a
relatively straightforward. OTOH, for MIDI 1.0 IN (i.e. output for
gadget), it's a bit more complex: we need to convert a source UMP
packet once to the standard MIDI 1.0 byte stream, and convert it again
to USB MIDI 1.0 packets, then send them out.

This patch extends MIDI 2.0 function driver to deal with more MIDI1
Jacks depending on the given Block configuration.
For MIDI 1.0, we take the configuration given in Function Block 0, and
create MIDI Jacks and Endpoints depending on the definition there.
That is, when more UMP Groups are defined in the Block 0, the
corresponding MIDI1 Jacks will be created.

This patch adds the support of configfs to MIDI 2.0 function driver
for users to allow configuring the UMP Endpoint and Function Blocks
more flexibly. The configuration is in a tree form. The top-most
contains some card-level configurations. UMP Endpoints are defined in
subdirectories (ep.0, ep.1, etc) that contain Endpoint-specific
configurations such as ep_name, etc. And, UMP Function Blocks are
defined in the subdirectories (block.0, block.1, etc) under EP
subdirectory. As default, the driver creates a single UMP Endpoint
(ep.0) and a single Function Block (block.0) to work in a minimalistic
manner. User can modify those attributes freely to fit with the
demands.
When multiple Function Blocks are required, user can create another
directory as block.1, block.2, and so on (up to block.31). A block.*
directory can be deleted dynamically, too. A caveat is that the block
number has to be continuous.
Similarly, when multiple UMP Endpoints are required, user can create
another directory as ep.1, ep.2, up to ep.3.
Also, some driver behavior can be controlled in the card top-level
configs. e.g. you can pass process_ump=0 to disable the processing of
UMP Stream messages. This would be equivalent with the older MIDI 2.0
spec that doesn't support UMP v1.1 features.
The configfs interface checks upper- / lower-bound of input values,
and more sanity checks are performed at binding.
Attributes can't be changed any longer once when the instance is
linked to UDC.

This patch adds the support for USB MIDI 2.0 gadget function driver.
The driver emulates a USB MIDI 2.0 interface with one or more UMP
Endpoints, where each of UMP Endpoint is a pair of MIDI Endpoints for
handling MIDI 2.0 UMP packets. When the function driver is bound, the
driver creates an ALSA card object with UMP rawmidi devices. This is
a kind of loop-back where the incoming and upcoming UMP packets
from/to the MIDI 2.0 UMP Endpoints are transferred as-is. In
addition, legacy (MIDI 1.0) rawmidi devices are created, so that
legacy applications can work in the gadget side, too.
When a USB MIDI 2.0 gadget interface appears, the connected host can
use it with the snd-usb-audio driver where MIDI 2.0 support is
enabled. Both gadget and connected hosts will have the similar UMP
Endpoint and Function Block (or Group Terminal Block) information.
Slight differences are the direction and UI-hint bits; it's due to the
nature of gadget driver, and the input/output direction is swapped in
both sides (the input for gadget is the output for host, and vice
versa).
The driver supports the brand-new UMP v1.1 feature, including the UMP
Stream message handling for providing UMP Endpoint and Function Block
information as well as dealing with the MIDI protocol switch. The
driver responds to UMP Stream messages by itself. OTOH, MIDI-CI
message handling isn't implemented in the kernel driver; it should be
processed in the user-space through the loopback UMP device.
As of this patch, the whole configuration is fixed, providing only one
bidirectional UMP Endpoint containing a single FB/GTB with a single
UMP Group. The configuration will be dynamically changeable in the
following patches.
The traditional MIDI 1.0 is still provided in the altset 0 (which is
mandatory per spec). But it's only about the configuration, and no
actual I/O will be running for the altset 0 as of this patch. The
proper support MIDI 1.0 altset will follow in later patches, too.

In Realtek SoC, the parameter of usb phy is designed to can dynamic
tuning base on port status. Therefore, add a notify callback of phy
driver when usb port status change.
The Realtek phy driver is designed to dynamically adjust disconnection
level and calibrate phy parameters. When the device connected bit changes
and when the disconnected bit changes, do port status change notification:
Check if portstatus is USB_PORT_STAT_CONNECTION and portchange is
USB_PORT_STAT_C_CONNECTION.
1. The device is connected, the driver lowers the disconnection level and
calibrates the phy parameters.
2. The device disconnects, the driver increases the disconnect level and
calibrates the phy parameters.
When controller to notify connect that device is already ready. If we
adjust the disconnection level in notify_connect, the disconnect may have
been triggered at this stage. So we need to change that as early as
possible. The status change of connection is before port reset.
Therefore, we add an api to notify phy the port status changes. In this
stage, the device is not port enable, and it will not trigger
disconnection.

The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate

As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they
"temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h
and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include
files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and
replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to
explicitly include the correct includes.

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart
from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks.
To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return
void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to
.remove_new() which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers
are converted, .remove_new() is renamed to .remove().
Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

Intel Lunar Lake is the first platform to extend IOM port status
from 32bit to 64bit by adding DDI port number into IOM port status.
Added IOM_PORT_STATUS_REGS macro for using platform specific IOM port
status offset and size.

Now that the driver core allows for struct class to be in read-only
memory, remove the usb_class structure and create the usbmisc_class
const class structure declared at build time which places it into
read-only memory, instead of having it to be dynamically allocated
at load time.
Additionally, now we register usb class at startup and unregister it
when shutting down, so we don't have to count uses of the class.
Therefore we don't need the 'usb_class' structure anymore. Due to this
fact, remove all static functions related to class initialization and
deinitialization. We can't use them in 'usb.c' since they are static
and we don't really need them anymore.
Since we have to register the class in usb_init function in 'usb.c'
and use it in 'file.c' as well, declare the usbmisc_class structure
as 'export' in the 'usb.h' file.
Debatable moment: the class registration and unregistration functions
could be extracted to the 'file.c'. I think we don't want to do this
since it would be one-line functions. They would make the code paths
more confusing and add calling overhead.

This reverts commit f08aa7c80d.
The reverted commit was based on static analysis and a misunderstanding
of how PTR_ERR() and NULLs are supposed to work. When a function
returns both pointer errors and NULL then normally the NULL means
"continue operating without a feature because it was deliberately
turned off". The NULL should not be treated as a failure. If a driver
cannot work when that feature is disabled then the KConfig should
enforce that the function cannot return NULL. We should not need to
test for it.
In this driver, the bug means that probe cannot succeed when CONFIG_PM
is disabled.

This reverts commit b138e23d3d.
AutoRetry has been found to sometimes cause controller freezes when
communicating with buggy USB devices.
This controller feature allows the controller in host mode to send
non-terminating/burst retry ACKs instead of terminating retry ACKs
to devices when a transaction error (CRC error or overflow) occurs.
Unfortunately, if the USB device continues to respond with a CRC error,
the controller will not complete endpoint-related commands while it
keeps trying to auto-retry. [3] The xHCI driver will notice this once
it tries to abort the transfer using a Stop Endpoint command and
does not receive a completion in time. [1]
This situation is reported to dmesg:
[sda] tag#29 uas_eh_abort_handler 0 uas-tag 1 inflight: CMD IN
[sda] tag#29 CDB: opcode=0x28 28 00 00 69 42 80 00 00 48 00
xhci-hcd: xHCI host not responding to stop endpoint command
xhci-hcd: xHCI host controller not responding, assume dead
xhci-hcd: HC died; cleaning up
Some users observed this problem on an Odroid HC2 with the JMS578
USB3-to-SATA bridge. The issue can be triggered by starting
a read-heavy workload on an attached SSD. After a while, the host
controller would die and the SSD would disappear from the system. [1]
Further analysis by Synopsys determined that controller revisions
other than the one in Odroid HC2 are also affected by this.
The recommended solution was to disable AutoRetry altogether.
This change does not have a noticeable performance impact. [2]
Revert the enablement commit. This will keep the AutoRetry bit in
the default state configured during SoC design [2].

The Focusrite Scarlett audio device does not behave correctly during
resumes. Below is what happens during every resume (captured with
Beagle 5000):
<Suspend>
<Resume>
<Reset>/<Chirp J>/<Tiny J>
<Reset/Target disconnected>
<High Speed>
The Scarlett disconnects and is enumerated again.
However from time to time it drops completely off the USB bus during
resume. Below is captured occurrence of such an event:
<Suspend>
<Resume>
<Reset>/<Chirp J>/<Tiny J>
<Reset>/<Chirp K>/<Tiny K>
<High Speed>
<Corrupted packet>
<Reset/Target disconnected>
To fix the condition a user has to unplug and plug the device again.
With USB_QUIRK_RESET_RESUME applied ("usbcore.quirks=1235:8211:b")
for the Scarlett audio device the issue still reproduces.
Applying USB_QUIRK_DISCONNECT_SUSPEND ("usbcore.quirks=1235:8211:m")
fixed the issue and the Scarlett audio device didn't drop off the USB
bus for ~5000 suspend/resume cycles where originally issue reproduced in
~100 or less suspend/resume cycles.

Commit c4a5153e87 ("usb: dwc3: core: Power-off core/PHYs on

current_dr_role. But during booting, the current_dr_role isn't
initialized, thus the device side reset is always issued even if dwc3
was configured as host-only. What's more, on some platforms with host
only dwc3, aways issuing device side reset by accessing device register
block can cause kernel panic.

Exar devices like XR21B1411 can control an RS485 transceiver by
automatically asserting the RTS#/RS485 pin before sending data
and deasserting it when the last stop bit has been transmitted.
The polarity of the RST#/RS485 signal is configurable and the
hardware also supports half-duplex turn-around delay and
address matching mode.
Add support for enabling and disabling RS-485 mode and
configuring the RST#/RS485 signal polarity using the TIOCGRS485
and TIOCSRS485 ioctls. Support for half-duplex turn-around delay
and address matching mode are left unimplemented for now.
User enables RS-485 mode by setting SER_RS485_ENABLED flag in
struct serial_rs485 flags. User should also set either
SER_RS485_RTS_ON_SEND or SER_RS485_RTS_AFTER_SEND to select the
behaviour of the RTS#/RS485 pin. Setting SER_RS485_RTS_ON_SEND

There are situations during the xhci_resume() sequence, which allows for
re-initializing of the XHCI HC. However, in case the HCD is being removed,
these operations may not be needed. Set the removal state before issuing
the runtime PM get on the XHCI device, so that the XHCI resume routine will
know when to bypass the re-init logic.

During XHCI resume, if there was a host controller error detected the
routine will attempt to re-initialize the XHCI HC, so that it can return
back to an operational state. If the XHCI host controller is being
removed, this sequence would be already handled within the XHCI halt path,
leading to a duplicate set of reg ops/calls. In addition, since the XHCI
bus is being removed, the overhead added in restarting the HCD is
unnecessary. Check for the XHC state before setting the reinit_xhc
parameter, which is responsible for triggering the restart.

strlcpy() reads the entire source buffer first.
This read may exceed the destination size limit.
This is both inefficient and can lead to linear read
overflows if a source string is not NUL-terminated [1].
In an effort to remove strlcpy() completely [2], replace
strlcpy() here with strscpy().
Direct replacement is safe here since return value of -errno
is used to check for truncation instead of sizeof(dest).

In scenarios where pullup relies on resume (get sync) to initialize
the controller and set the run stop bit, then core_init is followed by
gadget_resume which will eventually set run stop bit.
But in cases where the core_init fails, the return value is not sent
back to udc appropriately. So according to UDC the controller has
started but in reality we never set the run stop bit.
On systems like Android, there are uevents sent to HAL depending on
whether the configfs_bind / configfs_disconnect were invoked. In the
above mentioned scnenario, if the core init fails, the run stop won't
be set and the cable plug-out won't result in generation of any
disconnect event and userspace would never get any uevent regarding
cable plug out and we never call pullup(0) again. Furthermore none of
the next Plug-In/Plug-Out's would be known to configfs.
Return back the appropriate result to UDC to let the userspace/
configfs know that the pullup failed so they can take appropriate
action.

The FSA4480 Type-C switch supports switching the Audio R/L,
AGND and MIC signals to the USB-C DP/DM and SBU1/2 to support

Add support for calling typec_set_mode() for the DEBUG, AUDIO
accessory modes.
Let's also call typec_set_mode() for USB as default and SAFE

The USB state is only called when ALT mode is specifically
not specified by the partner status flags in order
to leave the altmode handlers setup the proper mode to
switches, muxes and retimers.

power_supply_is_system_supplied() checks whether any power
supplies are present that aren't batteries to decide whether
the system is running on DC or AC. Downstream drivers use
this to make performance decisions.
Navi dGPUs include an UCSI function that has been exported
since commit 17631e8ca2 ("i2c: designware: Add driver
support for AMD NAVI GPU").
This UCSI function registers a power supply since commit
992a60ed0d ("usb: typec: ucsi: register with power_supply class")
but this is not a system power supply.
As the power supply for a dGPU is only for powering devices connected
to dGPU, create a device property to indicate that the UCSI endpoint
is only for the scope of `POWER_SUPPLY_SCOPE_DEVICE`.

usb_udc_connect_control(), soft_connect_store() and
usb_gadget_deactivate() can potentially race against each other to invoke
usb_gadget_connect()/usb_gadget_disconnect(). To prevent this, guard
udc->started, gadget->allow_connect, gadget->deactivate and
gadget->connect with connect_lock so that ->pullup() is only invoked when
the gadget is bound, started and not deactivated. The routines
usb_gadget_connect_locked(), usb_gadget_disconnect_locked(),
usb_udc_connect_control_locked(), usb_gadget_udc_start_locked(),
usb_gadget_udc_stop_locked() are called with this lock held.

usb_udc_vbus_handler() can be invoked from interrupt context by irq
handlers of the gadget drivers, however, usb_udc_connect_control() has
to run in non-atomic context due to the following:
a. Some of the gadget driver implementations expect the ->pullup
callback to be invoked in non-atomic context.
b. usb_gadget_disconnect() acquires udc_lock which is a mutex.
Hence offload invocation of usb_udc_connect_control()
to workqueue.
UDC should not be pulled up unless gadget driver is bound. The new flag
"allow_connect" is now set by gadget_bind_driver() and cleared by
gadget_unbind_driver(). This prevents work item to pull up the gadget
even if queued when the gadget driver is already unbound.

This signal controls the USB OTG PHY VBUS Valid comparator which
indicates whether the voltage on the USB_OTG*_VBUS pin is below
the VBUS Valid threshold. The VBUS Valid threshold is nominally
4.75V on this USB PHY. The VBUS Valid threshold can be adjusted
using the USBNC_OTGn_PHY_CFG1[OTGTUNE0] bit field. Status of the
VBUS Valid comparator, when it is enabled, is reported on the
USBNC_OTGn_PHY_STATUS[VBUS_VLD] bit.
When OTGDISABLE0 (USBNC_USB_OTGx_PHY_CFG2[10])is set to 1'b0 and
DRVVBUS0 is set to 1'b1, the Bandgap circuitry and VBUS Valid

DRVVBUS0 should be reset to 1'b0 when the internal VBUS Valid comparator
is not required, to reduce quiescent current in Suspend or Sleep mode.

Expose usb device state to userland as the information is useful in
detecting non-compliant setups and diagnosing enumeration failures.
For example:
- End-to-end signal integrity issues: the device would fail port reset
repeatedly and thus be stuck in POWERED state.
- Charge-only cables (missing D+/D- lines): the device would never enter
POWERED state as the HC would not see any pullup.
What's the status quo?
We do have error logs such as "Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad?"
to flag potential setup issues, but there's no good way to expose them to
userspace.
Why add a sysfs entry in struct usb_port instead of struct usb_device?
The struct usb_device is not device_add() to the system until it's in
ADDRESS state hence we would miss the first two states. The struct
usb_port is a better place to keep the information because its life
cycle is longer than the struct usb_device that is attached to the port.

Currently if we bootup a device without cable connected, then
usb-conn-gpio won't call set_role() since last_role is same as
current role. This happens because during probe last_role gets
initialised to zero.
To avoid this, added a new constant in enum usb_role, last_role
is set to USB_ROLE_UNKNOWN before performing initial detection.
While at it, also handle default case for the usb_role switch
