SoC updates, mostly refactorings and cleanups of old legacy platforms.
Major themes this release:
- Conversion of ixp4xx to a modern platform (drivers, DT, bindings)
- Moving some of the ep93xx headers around to get it closer to multiplatform enabled.
- Cleanups of Davinci
This tag also contains a few patches that were queued up as fixes before
5.1 but I didn't get sent in before release.

Merge tag 'stream_open-5.2' of https://lab.nexedi.com/kirr/linux
Pull stream_open conversion from Kirill Smelkov:
- remove unnecessary double nonseekable_open from drivers/char/dtlk.c
as noticed by Pavel Machek while reviewing nonseekable_open ->
stream_open mass conversion.
- the mass conversion patch promised in commit 10dce8af34 ("fs:
stream_open - opener for stream-like files so that read and write can
run simultaneously without deadlock") and is automatically generated
by running
$ make coccicheck MODE=patch COCCI=scripts/coccinelle/api/stream_open.cocci
I've verified each generated change manually - that it is correct to
convert - and each other nonseekable_open instance left - that it is
either not correct to convert there, or that it is not converted due
to current stream_open.cocci limitations. More details on this in the
patch.
- finally, change VFS to pass ppos=NULL into .read/.write for files
that declare themselves streams. It was suggested by Rasmus Villemoes
and makes sure that if ppos starts to be erroneously used in a stream
file, such bug won't go unnoticed and will produce an oops instead of
creating illusion of position change being taken into account.
Note: this patch does not conflict with "fuse: Add FOPEN_STREAM to
use stream_open()" that will be hopefully coming via FUSE tree,
because fs/fuse/ uses new-style .read_iter/.write_iter, and for these
accessors position is still passed as non-pointer kiocb.ki_pos .
* tag 'stream_open-5.2' of https://lab.nexedi.com/kirr/linux:
vfs: pass ppos=NULL to .read()/.write() of FMODE_STREAM files
*: convert stream-like files from nonseekable_open -> stream_open
dtlk: remove double call to nonseekable_open
Using scripts/coccinelle/api/stream_open.cocci added in 10dce8af34
("fs: stream_open - opener for stream-like files so that read and write
can run simultaneously without deadlock"), search and convert to
stream_open all in-kernel nonseekable_open users for which read and
write actually do not depend on ppos and where there is no other methods
in file_operations which assume @offset access.
I've verified each generated change manually - that it is correct to convert -
and each other nonseekable_open instance left - that it is either not correct
to convert there, or that it is not converted due to current stream_open.cocci
limitations. The script also does not convert files that should be valid to
convert, but that currently have .llseek = noop_llseek or generic_file_llseek
for unknown reason despite file being opened with nonseekable_open (e.g.
drivers/input/mousedev.c)
Among cases converted 14 were potentially vulnerable to read vs write deadlock

One can also recheck/review the patch via generating it with explanation comments included via
$ make coccicheck MODE=patch COCCI=scripts/coccinelle/api/stream_open.cocci SPFLAGS="-D explain"
(*) This second group also contains cases with read/write deadlocks that
stream_open.cocci don't yet detect, but which are still valid to convert to
stream_open since ppos is not used. For example drivers/pci/switch/switchtec.c
calls wait_for_completion_interruptible() in its .read, but stream_open.cocci
currently detects only "wait_event*" as blocking.

This patch allows to define the max prescaler by compatible.
To set a large range of timeout, the prescaler should be set
dynamically (from the timeout request) to improve the resolution
in order to have a timeout close to the expected value.

HPWDT_NMI_DECODING depends on HP_WATCHDOG and should be next to it.
This helps menuconfig identify HPWDT_NMI_DECODING as depending on
HP_WATCHDOG.
BCM_KONA_WDT_DEBUG depends on BCM_KONA_WDT which depends on COMPILE_TEST.
Enabling BCM_KONA_WDT_DEBUG without BCM_KONA_WDT does not make sense,
so drop the COMPILE_TEST dependency from it. This also improves
menuconfig, which now properly associates BCM_KONA_WDT_DEBUG with
BCM_KONA_WDT.

Most of the NPCM7XX drivers can be built as modules.
The NPCM7XX watchdog driver code supports building it as
module, but its configuration option is set to bool.
Make itr tristate to actually support modular builds.
This improves consistency with other drivers for the
same platform and enables including the driver in multi-
platform configurations.

Under some circumstances it may be desirable to configure
the watchdog core as module. Enable it.
As part of this change, mark pretimeout governors as depending
on the watchdog core. This is necessary to prevent governors
from being built into the kernel if the watchdog core is built
as module.

Watchdog pretimeout configuration was at the end of the Kconfig
file, after individual watchdog drivers, and thus easy to miss.

Watchdog pretimeout governors were enabled from the default governor
selection using "select". As a result, the default governor was always
built into the kernel, even if no watchdog driver was loaded. By using
"depends on" instead of "select", we are in better control, and the
governors can all be built as modules. At the same time, set the default
configuration option for pretimeout governors to match WATCHDOG_CORE
(meaning all pretimeout governors are by default enabled if pretimeout
support is enabled).
The practical impact of this change is minimal. Previously, selecting
a default governor automatically enabled that governor. Now, a default
governor can only be selected if that governor has been enabled.
Consequently, the order of governor selection is now reversed: The
governor selection is now first, followed by default governor selection.

Lets remove the modular code that is essentially orphaned, so that
when reading the driver there is no doubt it is builtin-only.
We explicitly disallow a driver unbind, since that doesn't have a
sensible use case anyway, and it allows us to drop the ".remove"
code for non-modular drivers.
Since module_platform_driver() uses the same init level priority as
builtin_platform_driver() the init ordering remains unchanged with
this commit.
Also note that MODULE_ALIAS is a no-op for non-modular code.
We also delete the MODULE_LICENSE tag etc. since all that information

We replace module.h with moduleparam.h since the file does actually
declare some module parameters (i.e. boot args for non-modules).

- Drop assignments to otherwise unused variables
- Drop empty remove function
This also drops the inaccurate message on remove; the driver won't be
removed if the hardware watchdog is running, no matter if the watchdog
device is open or not.

Introduce local variable 'struct device *dev' and use it instead of
dereferencing it repeatedly. Also, there is no call to dev_get_drvdata()
or platform_get_drvdata() in the driver, so drop the unnecessary

The get_timeleft call for wdat_wdt was using ACPI_WDAT_GET_COUNTDOWN
when running an action on the device, which would return the configured
countdown, instead of ACPI_WDAT_GET_CURRENT_COUNTDOWN, which returns the
time left before the watchdog will fire. This change corrects that.

The driver registers the watchdog with devm_watchdog_register_device() but
still calls watchdog_unregister_device() on remove. Since clocks have to
be stopped when removing the driver, after the watchdog device has been
unregistered, we can not drop the call to watchdog_unregister_device().
Use watchdog_register_device() to register the watchdog.

This adds a minimal support for booting IXP4xx systems
from device tree.
We have to add hacks to the QMGR, NPE and notably also
ethernet and watchdog drivers so that they don't crash
the platform: these drivers are unconditionally starting
to grab regions of statically remapped IO space with no
concern of the device model or other platforms.
We will go in and properly fix these drivers as we go
along but for now this hack gets us to a place where we
can start working on proper device tree support for these
platforms.

Introduce watchdog driver for a various range of Mellanox Ethernet and
Infiniband switch systems.
Watchdog driver for Mellanox watchdog devices, implemented in
programmable logic device.
Main and auxiliary watchdog devices can exist on the same system.
There are several actions that can be defined in the watchdog:
system reset, start fans on full speed and increase a counter.
The last 2 actions are performed without a system reset.
Actions without reset are provided for auxiliary watchdog devices,
which is optional.
Access to HW registers is performed through generic
regmap interface.
There are 2 types of HW watchdog implementations.
Type 1: actual HW timeout can be defined as power of 2 msec.
e.g. timeout 20 sec will be rounded up to 32768 msec.;
maximum timeout period is 32 sec (32768 msec.);
get time-left isn't supported
Type 2: actual HW timeout is defined in sec. and it's the same as
user-defined timeout;
maximum timeout is 255 sec;
get time-left is supported;
Watchdog driver is probed from the common mlx_platform driver.

The PM816 module is a versatile PMIC with many diverse functions
integrated, including, a watchdog.
This watchdog is subcomponent of the PON (Power On) peripheral,
in the same way as pwrkey/resin buttons.
It works with two timers (2-stages), the first one generates an
IRQ to the main SoC (APQ8016/MSM8916), the second one performs
the reset.
This driver expects the following device hierarchy:
[pm8916]->[pm8916-pon]->[pm8916-wdt]
It uses the pm8916 regmap to access PM8916 registers.

This adds support for the CPU watchdog found on Marvell Armada 37xx
SoCs.
There are 4 counters which can be set as CPU watchdog counters.
This driver uses the second counter (ID 1, counting from 0) as watchdog
counter, and first counter (ID 0) to implement pinging on the second
counter without the need to disable it.
Since counters IDs 2 and 3 are enabled already before even U-Boot
starts, this driver does not use them at all, for example by adding a

mpc8xxx watchdog driver supports the following platforms:
- mpc8xx
- mpc83xx
- mpc86xx
Those three platforms have a 32 bits register which provides the
reason of the last boot, including whether it was caused by the
watchdog.
mpc8xx: Register RSR, bit SWRS (bit 3)
mpc83xx: Register RSR, bit SWRS (bit 28)
mpc86xx: Register RSTRSCR, bit WDT_RR (bit 11)
This patch maps the register as defined in the device tree and updates
wdt.bootstatus based on the value of the watchdog related bit. Then
the information can be retrieved via the WDIOC_GETBOOTSTATUS ioctl.
Hereunder is an example of devicetree for mpc8xx,
the Reset Status Register being at offset 0x288:
WDT: watchdog@0 {
compatible = "fsl,mpc823-wdt";
reg = <0x0 0x10 0x288 0x4>;
};
On the mpc83xx, RSR is at offset 0x910
On the mpc86xx, RSTRSCR is at offset 0xe0094

This also removes the ltq_wdt_bootstatus_set typedef and replaces it

Some of the names of the bits were confusing to me.
Now the bits share the same prefix as the register they are set on.
The LTQ_WDT_CR_PWL register (bits 26:25) is the pre warning limit and it
does not turn anything on. It has 4 possible divers 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 and
1/16, this drivers only uses 1/16.
The LTQ_WDT_CR_CLKDIV register bits(25:24) is only configuring a clock
divers and do not turn any thing on too, all possible values are valid
dividers.
Using the LTQ_WDT_SR prefix is also wrong these bits are used in the
LTQ_WDT_CR registers, SR is the status register which is read only.

iTCO_vendor_support's option vendorsupport=2 is a gross hack. It
claims to extend the existing iTCO_wdt driver, but in fact programs
a watchdog on a completely different device (Super-I/O) without
requesting its I/O ports and without checking the device ID. This is
an utterly dangerous thing to do.
It also turns out to be unnecessary, because as far as I can tell, the
code in question is basically duplicating what the clean w83627hf_wdt
driver is doing.
My guess is that on these SuperMicro boards which sparkled the
implementation of vendorsupport=2, the watchdog functionality of the
Intel south bridge is not used, and the watchdog feature of some
W83627HF-like Super-I/O chip is used instead. So we should point the
users to the w83627hf_wdt driver.

We want to go into a sane state when unregistering. Currently, it
happens that the watchdog stops when unbinding because of RuntimePM
stopping the core clock. When rebinding, the core clock gets reactivated
and the watchdog fires even though it hasn't been opened by userspace
yet. Strange scenario, yes, but sane state is much preferred anyhow.

Commit cafa0010cd ("Raise the minimum required gcc version to 4.6")
recently exposed a brittle part of the build for supporting non-gcc
compilers.
Both Clang and ICC define __GNUC__, __GNUC_MINOR__, and
__GNUC_PATCHLEVEL__ for quick compatibility with code bases that haven't
added compiler specific checks for __clang__ or __INTEL_COMPILER.
This is brittle, as they happened to get compatibility by posing as a
certain version of GCC. This broke when upgrading the minimal version
of GCC required to build the kernel, to a version above what ICC and
Clang claim to be.
Rather than always including compiler-gcc.h then undefining or
redefining macros in compiler-intel.h or compiler-clang.h, let's
separate out the compiler specific macro definitions into mutually
exclusive headers, do more proper compiler detection, and keep shared
definitions in compiler_types.h.

At over 4000 #includes, <linux/platform_device.h> is the 9th most
#included header file in the Linux kernel. It does not need
<linux/mod_devicetable.h>, so drop that header and explicitly add
<linux/mod_devicetable.h> to source files that need it.
4146 #include <linux/platform_device.h>
After this patch, there are 225 files that use <linux/mod_devicetable.h>,
for a reduction of around 3900 times that <linux/mod_devicetable.h>
does not have to be read & parsed.
225 #include <linux/mod_devicetable.h>
This patch was build-tested on 20 different arch-es.
It also makes these drivers SubmitChecklist#1 compliant.
