This happened because we would overrun the i2c->msgs array on the final
interrupt for the I2C STOP. This didn't happen if the last message was a
read because there is no interrupt in that case. Ensure that we only
access the current message if we are not processing a I2C STOP
condition.

Chris Packham a74c313aca i2c: mpc: Use atomic read and fix break condition
Maxime points out that the polling code in mpc_i2c_isr should use the
_atomic API because it is called in an irq context and that the
behaviour of the MCF bit is that it is 1 when the byte transfer is
complete. All of this means the original code was effectively a
udelay(100).

Fix this by using readb_poll_timeout_atomic() and removing the negation
of the break condition.

Current I2C reset procedure is broken in two ways:
1) It only generate 1 START instead of 9 STARTs and STOP.

Chris Packham 4a8ac5e45c i2c: mpc: Poll for MCF
During some transfers the bus can still be busy when an interrupt is
received. Commit 763778cd79 ("i2c: mpc: Restore reread of I2C status

that just made it less likely to happen without actually preventing it.
Instead of a single re-read, poll with a timeout so that the bus is given
enough time to settle but a genuine stuck SCL is still noticed.

Chris Packham 763778cd79 i2c: mpc: Restore reread of I2C status register
Prior to commit 1538d82f46 ("i2c: mpc: Interrupt driven transfer") the
old interrupt handler would reread MPC_I2C_SR after checking the CSR_MIF
bit. When the driver was re-written this was removed as it seemed
unnecessary. However as it turns out this is necessary for i2c devices
which do clock stretching otherwise we end up thinking the bus is still
busy when processing the interrupt.

The fsl-i2c controller will generate an interrupt after every byte
transferred. Make use of this interrupt to drive a state machine which
allows the next part of a transfer to happen as soon as the interrupt is
received. This is particularly helpful with SMBUS devices like the LM81

Commit 8ce795cb0c ("i2c: mpc: assign the correct prescaler from SVR")
introduced the common helper function for obtaining the actual clock
prescaler value for MPC85xx. However, getting the prescaler for MPC8544
which depends on the SEC frequency ratio on this platform, has been always
performed separately based on the corresponding Device Tree configuration.

Move special handling of MPC8544 into that common helper. Make it dependent
on the SoC version and not on Device Tree compatible node, as is the case
with all other SoCs. Handle MPC8533 the same way which is similar
to MPC8544 in this regard, according to AN2919 "Determining the I2C

Arseny Solokha 6d10613919 i2c: mpc: get MPC8xxx I2C clock prescaler before using it in calculations
Obtaining the actual I2C clock prescaler value in mpc_i2c_setup_8xxx() only
happens when the clock parameter is set to something other than
MPC_I2C_CLOCK_LEGACY. When the clock parameter is exactly
MPC_I2C_CLOCK_LEGACY, the prescaler parameter is used in arithmetic
division as provided by the caller, resulting in a division by zero
for the majority of processors supported by the module.

Avoid division by zero by obtaining the actual I2C clock prescaler
in mpc_i2c_setup_8xxx() unconditionally regardless of the passed clock
value.

one SoC to another. This is documented in the AN2919 "Determining the
I2C Frequency Divider Ratio for SCL" by Freescale. Not taking this into
account can lead to the output SCL frequency to by off by an offset. It
was observed on the P2041 from the QorIQ family.

This patch fixes this problem by setting the prescaler value to the
appropriate value when required. The SoCs that required a different
prescaler than 1 are identified by reading out the SVR as discussed in

Linus Torvalds e6b5be2be4 Driver core patches for 3.19-rc1
Here's the set of driver core patches for 3.19-rc1.

They are dominated by the removal of the .owner field in platform
drivers. They touch a lot of files, but they are "simple" changes, just
removing a line in a structure.

Other than that, a few minor driver core and debugfs changes. There are
some ath9k patches coming in through this tree that have been acked by
the wireless maintainers as they relied on the debugfs changes.

Everything has been in linux-next for a while.

Valentin Longchamp d49019a069 i2c: mpc: insert DR read in i2c_fixup()
The mpc_i2c_fixup function is called when the bus is not released by a
slave. The function generates 9 pulses that should lead the slave
to release the bus.

The sequence that generates the pulses disables/enables the I2C module
that controls the blocked bus. We have found out on the P2041 SoC that
this could cause the CPU to hang (for a short delay).

To avoid this, this patch introduces a read to the I2CDR register
between the re-enablement of the I2C module in master mode and its
returning to the slave mode instead of the delay (the final delay,
between the pulses is kept), as proposed in procedure from the P2041
reference manual (16.6.2.3), and the other manuals from the mpc83xx and
mpc85xx families.

Guenter Roeck 421476aeed i2c: mpc: Define unique I2C adapter names
The I2C adapters on Freescale MPC107/824x/85xx/512x/52xx/83xx/86xx all
have the same name "MPC adapter". Since I2C adapter numbers can change
across reboots and even after loading/unloading an I2C bus master driver,
adapter names have to be used to identify adapters and thus should be
unique and well defined. Since this is not the case with this driver,
it is difficult if not impossible to identify a specific adapter from
user space on affected platforms.

To remedy the problem, use the adapter memory address as part of the
adapter name.

With this patch, adapter names are:
On P2020:
MPC adapter at 0xfff703000
MPC adapter at 0xfff703100

On P5040:
MPC adapter at 0xffe118000

Doug Anderson 55827f4aa6 i2c: Remove unneeded xxx_set_drvdata(..., NULL) calls
There is simply no reason to be manually setting the private driver
data to NULL in the remove/fail to probe cases. This is just extra
cruft code that can be removed.

A few notes:
* Nothing relies on drvdata being set to NULL.
* The __device_release_driver() function eventually calls
dev_set_drvdata(dev, NULL) anyway, so there's no need to do it
  twice.
* I verified that there were no cases where xxx_get_drvdata() was
being called in these drivers and checking for / relying on the NULL
  return value.

This could be cleaned up kernel-wide but for now just take the baby
step and remove from the i2c subsystem.

Linus Torvalds 12250d843e Merge branch 'i2c-embedded/for-next' of git://git.pengutronix.de/git/wsa/linux
Pull i2c-embedded changes from Wolfram Sang:
 "The changes for i2c-embedded include:

   - massive rework of the omap driver
   - massive rework of the at91 driver. In fact, the old driver gets
removed; I am okay with this approach since the old driver was
depending on BROKEN and its limitations made it practically
unusable, so people used bitbanging instead. But even if there are
users, there is no platform_data or module parameter which would
need to be converted. It is just another driver doing I2C
transfers, just way better. Modifications of arch/arm/at91 related
files have proper acks from the maintainer.
   - new driver for R-Car I2C
   - devicetree and generic_clock conversions and fixes
   - usual driver fixes and changes.

The rework patches have come a long way and lots of people have been
involved in creating/testing them. Most patches have been in
linux-next at least since 3.6-rc5. A few have been added in the last
  week, I have to admit.

An unexpected (but welcome :)) peak in private life is the cause for
that. The "late" patches shouldn't cause any merge conflicts and I
will have a special eye on them during the stabilization phase. This
is an exception and I want to have the patches in place properly in
time again for the next kernels."
