Davide Caratti b72b5bf6a8 net: introduce skb_crc32c_csum_help
skb_crc32c_csum_help is like skb_checksum_help, but it is designed for
checksumming SCTP packets using crc32c (see RFC3309), provided that
libcrc32c.ko has been loaded before. In case libcrc32c is not loaded,
invoking skb_crc32c_csum_help on a skb results in one the following
printouts:

warn_crc32c_csum_update: attempt to compute crc32c without libcrc32c.ko
warn_crc32c_csum_combine: attempt to compute crc32c without libcrc32c.ko

Davide Caratti 9617813dba skbuff: add stub to help computing crc32c on SCTP packets
sctp_compute_checksum requires crc32c symbol (provided by libcrc32c), so
it can't be used in net core. Like it has been done previously with other
symbols (e.g. ipv6_dst_lookup), introduce a stub struct skb_checksum_ops
to allow computation of crc32c checksum in net core after sctp.ko (and thus
libcrc32c) has been loaded.

Eric Dumazet 9a568de481 tcp: switch TCP TS option (RFC 7323) to 1ms clock
TCP Timestamps option is defined in RFC 7323

Traditionally on linux, it has been tied to the internal
'jiffies' variable, because it had been a cheap and good enough
generator.

For TCP flows on the Internet, 1 ms resolution would be much better
than 4ms or 10ms (HZ=250 or HZ=100 respectively)

For TCP flows in the DC, Google has used usec resolution for more
than two years with great success [1]

Receive size autotuning (DRS) is indeed more precise and converges
faster to optimal window size.

This patch converts tp->tcp_mstamp to a plain u64 value storing
a 1 usec TCP clock.

This choice will allow us to upstream the 1 usec TS option as
discussed in IETF 97.

All available gso_type flags are currently in use, so
extend gso_type from 'unsigned short' to 'unsigned int'

Netfilter updates for net-next

The following patchset contains Netfilter updates for your net-next
tree, they are:

1) Stash ctinfo 3-bit field into pointer to nf_conntrack object from
sk_buff so we only access one single cacheline in the conntrack
   hotpath. Patchset from Florian Westphal.

2) Don't leak pointer to internal structures when exporting x_tables
ruleset back to userspace, from Willem DeBruijn. This includes new
helper functions to copy data to userspace such as xt_data_to_user()
as well as conversions of our ip_tables, ip6_tables and arp_tables
clients to use it. Not surprinsingly, ebtables requires an ad-hoc
update. There is also a new field in x_tables extensions to indicate
the amount of bytes that we copy to userspace.

3) Add nf_log_all_netns sysctl: This new knob allows you to enable
logging via nf_log infrastructure for all existing netnamespaces.
Given the effort to provide pernet syslog has been discontinued,
let's provide a way to restore logging using netfilter kernel logging
facilities in trusted environments. Patch from Michal Kubecek.

4) Validate SCTP checksum from conntrack helper, from Davide Caratti.

5) Merge UDPlite conntrack and NAT helpers into UDP, this was mostly
a copy&paste from the original helper, from Florian Westphal.

6) Reset netfilter state when duplicating packets, also from Florian.

7) Remove unnecessary check for broadcast in IPv6 in pkttype match and
   nft_meta, from Liping Zhang.

8) Add missing code to deal with loopback packets from nft_meta when
used by the netdev family, also from Liping.

9) Several cleanups on nf_tables, one to remove unnecessary check from
the netlink control plane path to add table, set and stateful objects
and code consolidation when unregister chain hooks, from Gao Feng.

10) Fix harmless reference counter underflow in IPVS that, however,
results in problems with the introduction of the new refcount_t
    type, from David Windsor.

11) Enable LIBCRC32C from nf_ct_sctp instead of nf_nat_sctp,
    from Davide Caratti.

12) Missing documentation on nf_tables uapi header, from Liping Zhang.

13) Use rb_entry() helper in xt_connlimit, from Geliang Tang.

Florian Westphal a9e419dc7b netfilter: merge ctinfo into nfct pointer storage area
After this change conntrack operations (lookup, creation, matching from
ruleset) only access one instead of two sk_buff cache lines.

This works for normal conntracks because those are allocated from a slab
that guarantees hw cacheline or 8byte alignment (whatever is larger)
so the 3 bits needed for ctinfo won't overlap with nf_conn addresses.

Template allocation now does manual address alignment (see previous change)
on arches that don't have sufficent kmalloc min alignment.

Some spots intentionally use skb->_nfct instead of skb_nfct() helpers,
this is to avoid undoing the skb_nfct() use when we remove untracked
conntrack object in the future.

Alexander Duyck 8c2dd3e4a4 mm: rename __alloc_page_frag to page_frag_alloc and __free_page_frag to page_frag_free
Patch series "Page fragment updates", v4.

This patch series takes care of a few cleanups for the page fragments
API.

First we do some renames so that things are much more consistent. First
we move the page_frag_ portion of the name to the front of the functions
names. Secondly we split out the cache specific functions from the
other page fragment functions by adding the word "cache" to the name.

Finally I added a bit of documentation that will hopefully help to
explain some of this. I plan to revisit this later as we get things
more ironed out in the near future with the changes planned for the DMA
setup to support eXpress Data Path.

This patch (of 3):

This patch renames the page frag functions to be more consistent with
other APIs. Specifically we place the name page_frag first in the name
and then have either an alloc or free call name that we append as the
suffix. This makes it a bit clearer in terms of naming.

In addition we drop the leading double underscores since we are
technically no longer a backing interface and instead the front end that
is called from the networking APIs.

Willem de Bruijn bc31c905e9 net-tc: convert tc_from to tc_from_ingress and tc_redirected
The tc_from field fulfills two roles. It encodes whether a packet was
redirected by an act_mirred device and, if so, whether act_mirred was
called on ingress or egress. Split it into separate fields.

The information is needed by the special IFB loop, where packets are
taken out of the normal path by act_mirred, forwarded to IFB, then
reinjected at their original location (ingress or egress) by IFB.

The IFB device cannot use skb->tc_at_ingress, because that may have
been overwritten as the packet travels from act_mirred to ifb_xmit,
when it passes through tc_classify on the IFB egress path. Cache this
value in skb->tc_from_ingress.

That field is valid only if a packet arriving at ifb_xmit came from
act_mirred. Other packets can be crafted to reach ifb_xmit. These
must be dropped. Set tc_redirected on redirection and drop all packets
that do not have this bit set.

Both fields are set only on cloned skbs in tc actions, so original
packet sources do not have to clear the bit when reusing packets
(notably, pktgen and octeon).

Willem de Bruijn e7246e122a net-tc: extract skip classify bit from tc_verd
Packets sent by the IFB device skip subsequent tc classification.
A single bit governs this state. Move it out of tc_verd in
anticipation of removing that __u16 completely.

The new bitfield tc_skip_classify temporarily uses one bit of a
hole, until tc_verd is removed completely in a follow-up patch.

Remove the bit hole comment. It could be 2, 3, 4 or 5 bits long.
With that many options, little value in documenting it.

Introduce a helper function to deduplicate the logic in the two
sites that check this bit.

- copying payload from kernel space to user space,
- freeing memory pieces associated with skb.

If socket is under pressure, softirq handler(s) can try to pull in
skb->head the payload of the packet if it fits.

Meaning the softirq handler(s) can free/reuse the page fragment
immediately, instead of letting udp_recvmsg() do this hundreds of usec
later, possibly from another node.

Additional gains :
- We reduce skb->truesize and thus can store more packets per SO_RCVBUF
- We avoid cache line misses at copyout() time and consume_skb() time,
and avoid one put_page() with potential alien freeing on NUMA hosts.

This comes at the cost of a copy, bounded to available tail room, which
is usually small. (We might have to fix GRO_MAX_HEAD which looks bigger
than necessary)

This patch gave me about 5 % increase in throughput in my tests.

skb_condense() helper could probably used in other contexts.

Alexey Dobriyan c72d8cdaa5 net: fix bogus cast in skb_pagelen() and use unsigned variables
1) cast to "int" is unnecessary:
u8 will be promoted to int before decrementing,
small positive numbers fit into "int", so their values won't be changed
   during promotion.

Once everything is int including loop counters, signedness doesn't
matter: 32-bit operations will stay 32-bit operations.

But! Someone tried to make this loop smart by making everything of

   Do the optimization, just differently.
Do the cast where it matters. :^)

Paolo Abeni 7c13f97ffd udp: do fwd memory scheduling on dequeue
A new argument is added to __skb_recv_datagram to provide
an explicit skb destructor, invoked under the receive queue
lock.
The UDP protocol uses such argument to perform memory
reclaiming on dequeue, so that the UDP protocol does not
set anymore skb->desctructor.
Instead explicit memory reclaiming is performed at close() time and
when skbs are removed from the receive queue.
The in kernel UDP protocol users now need to call a
skb_recv_udp() variant instead of skb_recv_datagram() to
properly perform memory accounting on dequeue.

Overall, this allows acquiring only once the receive queue
lock on dequeue.

Tested using pktgen with random src port, 64 bytes packet,
wire-speed on a 10G link as sender and udp_sink as the receiver,
using an l4 tuple rxhash to stress the contention, and one or more
udp_sink instances with reuseport.

Daniel Borkmann 36bbef52c7 bpf: direct packet write and access for helpers for clsact progs
This work implements direct packet access for helpers and direct packet
write in a similar fashion as already available for XDP types via commits
4acf6c0b84 ("bpf: enable direct packet data write for xdp progs") and
6841de8b0d ("bpf: allow helpers access the packet directly"), and as a
complementary feature to the already available direct packet read for tc
(cls/act) programs.

For enabling this, we need to introduce two helpers, bpf_skb_pull_data()
and bpf_csum_update(). The first is generally needed for both, read and
write, because they would otherwise only be limited to the current linear
skb head. Usually, when the data_end test fails, programs just bail out,
or, in the direct read case, use bpf_skb_load_bytes() as an alternative
to overcome this limitation. If such data sits in non-linear parts, we
can just pull them in once with the new helper, retest and eventually
access them.

At the same time, this also makes sure the skb is uncloned, which is, of
course, a necessary condition for direct write. As this needs to be an
invariant for the write part only, the verifier detects writes and adds
a prologue that is calling bpf_skb_pull_data() to effectively unclone the
skb from the very beginning in case it is indeed cloned. The heuristic
makes use of a similar trick that was done in 233577a220 ("net: filter:
constify detection of pkt_type_offset"). This comes at zero cost for other
programs that do not use the direct write feature. Should a program use
this feature only sparsely and has read access for the most parts with,
for example, drop return codes, then such write action can be delegated
to a tail called program for mitigating this cost of potential uncloning
to a late point in time where it would have been paid similarly with the
bpf_skb_store_bytes() as well. Advantage of direct write is that the
writes are inlined whereas the helper cannot make any length assumptions
and thus needs to generate a call to memcpy() also for small sizes, as well
as cost of helper call itself with sanity checks are avoided. Plus, when
direct read is already used, we don't need to cache or perform rechecks
on the data boundaries (due to verifier invalidating previous checks for
helpers that change skb->data), so more complex programs using rewrites
can benefit from switching to direct read plus write.

For direct packet access to helpers, we save the otherwise needed copy into
a temp struct sitting on stack memory when use-case allows. Both facilities
are enabled via may_access_direct_pkt_data() in verifier. For now, we limit
this to map helpers and csum_diff, and can successively enable other helpers
where we find it makes sense. Helpers that definitely cannot be allowed for
this are those part of bpf_helper_changes_skb_data() since they can change
underlying data, and those that write into memory as this could happen for
packet typed args when still cloned. bpf_csum_update() helper accommodates
for the fact that we need to fixup checksum_complete when using direct write
instead of bpf_skb_store_bytes(), meaning the programs can use available
helpers like bpf_csum_diff(), and implement csum_add(), csum_sub(),
csum_block_add(), csum_block_sub() equivalents in eBPF together with the
new helper. A usage example will be provided for iproute2's examples/bpf/
directory.

Yaogong Wang 9f5afeae51 tcp: use an RB tree for ooo receive queue
Over the years, TCP BDP has increased by several orders of magnitude,
and some people are considering to reach the 2 Gbytes limit.

Even with current window scale limit of 14, ~1 Gbytes maps to ~740,000
MSS.

In presence of packet losses (or reorders), TCP stores incoming packets
into an out of order queue, and number of skbs sitting there waiting for
the missing packets to be received can be in the 10^5 range.

Most packets are appended to the tail of this queue, and when
packets can finally be transferred to receive queue, we scan the queue
from its head.

However, in presence of heavy losses, we might have to find an arbitrary
point in this queue, involving a linear scan for every incoming packet,
throwing away cpu caches.

This patch converts it to a RB tree, to get bounded latencies.

Yaogong wrote a preliminary patch about 2 years ago.
Eric did the rebase, added ofo_last_skb cache, polishing and tests.

Tested with network dropping between 1 and 10 % packets, with good
success (about 30 % increase of throughput in stress tests)

Next step would be to also use an RB tree for the write queue at sender
side ;)

Ido Schimmel 6bc506b4fb bridge: switchdev: Add forward mark support for stacked devices
switchdev_port_fwd_mark_set() is used to set the 'offload_fwd_mark' of
port netdevs so that packets being flooded by the device won't be
flooded twice.

It works by assigning a unique identifier (the ifindex of the first
bridge port) to bridge ports sharing the same parent ID. This prevents
packets from being flooded twice by the same switch, but will flood
packets through bridge ports belonging to a different switch.

This method is problematic when stacked devices are taken into account,
such as VLANs. In such cases, a physical port netdev can have upper
devices being members in two different bridges, thus requiring two
different 'offload_fwd_mark's to be configured on the port netdev, which
is impossible.

The main problem is that packet and netdev marking is performed at the
physical netdev level, whereas flooding occurs between bridge ports,
which are not necessarily port netdevs.

Instead, packet and netdev marking should really be done in the bridge
driver with the switch driver only telling it which packets it already
forwarded. The bridge driver will mark such packets using the mark
assigned to the ingress bridge port and will prevent the packet from
being forwarded through any bridge port sharing the same mark (i.e.
having the same parent ID).

Remove the current switchdev 'offload_fwd_mark' implementation and
instead implement the proposed method. In addition, make rocker - the
sole user of the mark - use the proposed method.

Daniel Borkmann 5293efe62d bpf: add bpf_skb_change_tail helper
This work adds a bpf_skb_change_tail() helper for tc BPF programs. The
basic idea is to expand or shrink the skb in a controlled manner. The
eBPF program can then rewrite the rest via helpers like bpf_skb_store_bytes(),
bpf_lX_csum_replace() and others rather than passing a raw buffer for
writing here.

bpf_skb_change_tail() is really a slow path helper and intended for
replies with f.e. ICMP control messages. Concept is similar to other
helpers like bpf_skb_change_proto() helper to keep the helper without
protocol specifics and let the BPF program mangle the remaining parts.
A flags field has been added and is reserved for now should we extend
the helper in future.

Daniel Borkmann 479ffcccef bpf: fix checksum fixups on bpf_skb_store_bytes
bpf_skb_store_bytes() invocations above L2 header need BPF_F_RECOMPUTE_CSUM
flag for updates, so that CHECKSUM_COMPLETE will be fixed up along the way.
Where we ran into an issue with bpf_skb_store_bytes() is when we did a
single-byte update on the IPv6 hoplimit despite using BPF_F_RECOMPUTE_CSUM
flag; simple ping via ICMPv6 triggered a hw csum failure as a result. The
underlying issue has been tracked down to a buffer alignment issue.

Meaning, that csum_partial() computations via skb_postpull_rcsum() and
skb_postpush_rcsum() pair invoked had a wrong result since they operated on
an odd address for the hoplimit, while other computations were done on an
even address. This mix doesn't work as-is with skb_postpull_rcsum(),
skb_postpush_rcsum() pair as it always expects at least half-word alignment
of input buffers, which is normally the case. Thus, instead of these helpers
using csum_sub() and (implicitly) csum_add(), we need to use csum_block_sub(),
csum_block_add(), respectively. For unaligned offsets, they rotate the sum
to align it to a half-word boundary again, otherwise they work the same as
csum_sub() and csum_add().

Adding __skb_postpull_rcsum(), __skb_postpush_rcsum() variants that take the
offset as an input and adapting bpf_skb_store_bytes() to them fixes the hw
csum failures again. The skb_postpull_rcsum(), skb_postpush_rcsum() helpers
use a 0 constant for offset so that the compiler optimizes the offset & 1
test away and generates the same code as with csum_sub()/_add().

David S. Miller eb70db8756 packet: Use symmetric hash for PACKET_FANOUT_HASH.
People who use PACKET_FANOUT_HASH want a symmetric hash, meaning that
they want packets going in both directions on a flow to hash to the
same bucket.

The core kernel SKB hash became non-symmetric when the ipv6 flow label
and other entities were incorporated into the standard flow hash order
to increase entropy.

But there are no users of PACKET_FANOUT_HASH who want an assymetric
hash, they all want a symmetric one.

Therefore, use the flow dissector to compute a flat symmetric hash
over only the protocol, addresses and ports. This hash does not get
installed into and override the normal skb hash, so this change has
no effect whatsoever on the rest of the stack.

Marcelo Ricardo Leitner 90017accff sctp: Add GSO support
SCTP has this pecualiarity that its packets cannot be just segmented to
(P)MTU. Its chunks must be contained in IP segments, padding respected.
So we can't just generate a big skb, set gso_size to the fragmentation
point and deliver it to IP layer.

This patch takes a different approach. SCTP will now build a skb as it
would be if it was received using GRO. That is, there will be a cover
skb with protocol headers and children ones containing the actual
segments, already segmented to a way that respects SCTP RFCs.

With that, we can tell skb_segment() to just split based on frag_list,
trusting its sizes are already in accordance.

This way SCTP can benefit from GSO and instead of passing several
packets through the stack, it can pass a single large packet.

v2:
- Added support for receiving GSO frames, as requested by Dave Miller.
- Clear skb->cb if packet is GSO (otherwise it's not used by SCTP)
- Added heuristics similar to what we have in TCP for not generating
single GSO packets that fills cwnd.

Eric Dumazet 9580bf2edb net: relax expensive skb_unclone() in iptunnel_handle_offloads()
Locally generated TCP GSO packets having to go through a GRE/SIT/IPIP
tunnel have to go through an expensive skb_unclone()

Reallocating skb->head is a lot of work.

Test should really check if a 'real clone' of the packet was done.

TCP does not care if the original gso_type is changed while the packet
travels in the stack.

This adds skb_header_unclone() which is a variant of skb_clone()
using skb_header_cloned() check instead of skb_cloned().

This variant can probably be used from other points.

Soheil Hassas Yeganeh 0a2cf20c3f tcp: remove SKBTX_ACK_TSTAMP since it is redundant
The SKBTX_ACK_TSTAMP flag is set in skb_shinfo->tx_flags when
the timestamp of the TCP acknowledgement should be reported on
error queue. Since accessing skb_shinfo is likely to incur a
cache-line miss at the time of receiving the ack, the
txstamp_ack bit was added in tcp_skb_cb, which is set iff
the SKBTX_ACK_TSTAMP flag is set for an skb. This makes
SKBTX_ACK_TSTAMP flag redundant.

Remove the SKBTX_ACK_TSTAMP and instead use the txstamp_ack bit
everywhere.

Note that this frees one bit in shinfo->tx_flags.

Sowmini Varadhan 6fa01ccd88 skbuff: Add pskb_extract() helper function
A pattern of skb usage seen in modules such as RDS-TCP is to
extract `to_copy' bytes from the received TCP segment, starting
at some offset `off' into a new skb `clone'. This is done in
the ->data_ready callback, where the clone skb is queued up for rx on
the PF_RDS socket, while the parent TCP segment is returned unchanged
back to the TCP engine.

The existing code uses the sequence
	clone = skb_clone(..);
	pskb_pull(clone, off, ..);
	pskb_trim(clone, to_copy, ..);
with the intention of discarding the first `off' bytes. However,
skb_clone() + pskb_pull() implies pksb_expand_head(), which ends
up doing a redundant memcpy of bytes that will then get discarded
in __pskb_pull_tail().

To avoid this inefficiency, this commit adds pskb_extract() that
creates the clone, and memcpy's only the relevant header/frag/frag_list
to the start of `clone'. pskb_trim() is then invoked to trim clone
down to the requested to_copy bytes.

Alexander Duyck 802ab55adc GSO: Support partial segmentation offload
This patch adds support for something I am referring to as GSO partial.
The basic idea is that we can support a broader range of devices for
segmentation if we use fixed outer headers and have the hardware only
really deal with segmenting the inner header. The idea behind the naming
is due to the fact that everything before csum_start will be fixed headers,
and everything after will be the region that is handled by hardware.

With the current implementation it allows us to add support for the
following GSO types with an inner TSO_MANGLEID or TSO6 offload:
NETIF_F_GSO_GRE
NETIF_F_GSO_GRE_CSUM
NETIF_F_GSO_IPIP
NETIF_F_GSO_SIT
NETIF_F_UDP_TUNNEL
NETIF_F_UDP_TUNNEL_CSUM

In the case of hardware that already supports tunneling we may be able to
extend this further to support TSO_TCPV4 without TSO_MANGLEID if the
hardware can support updating inner IPv4 headers.

Alexander Duyck cbc53e08a7 GSO: Add GSO type for fixed IPv4 ID
This patch adds support for TSO using IPv4 headers with a fixed IP ID
field. This is meant to allow us to do a lossless GRO in the case of TCP
flows that use a fixed IP ID such as those that convert IPv6 header to IPv4
headers.

In addition I am adding a feature that for now I am referring to TSO with
IP ID mangling. Basically when this flag is enabled the device has the
option to either output the flow with incrementing IP IDs or with a fixed
IP ID regardless of what the original IP ID ordering was. This is useful
in cases where the DF bit is set and we do not care if the original IP ID
value is maintained.

Enable peeking at UDP datagrams at the offset specified with socket

Implement the SO_PEEK_OFF semantics introduced in commit ef64a54f6e

on peek, decrease it on regular reads.

When peeking, always checksum the packet immediately, to avoid
recomputation on subsequent peeks and final read.

The socket lock is not held for the duration of udp_recvmsg, so
peek and read operations can run concurrently. Only the last store
to sk_peek_off is preserved.

Benjamin Poirier 1837b2e2bc mld, igmp: Fix reserved tailroom calculation
The current reserved_tailroom calculation fails to take hlen and tlen into
account.

skb:
[__hlen__|__data____________|__tlen___|__extra__]
^ ^
head skb_end_offset

In this representation, hlen + data + tlen is the size passed to alloc_skb.
"extra" is the extra space made available in __alloc_skb because of
rounding up by kmalloc. We can reorder the representation like so:

[__hlen__|__data____________|__extra__|__tlen___]
^ ^
head skb_end_offset

The maximum space available for ip headers and payload without
fragmentation is min(mtu, data + extra). Therefore,
reserved_tailroom
= data + extra + tlen - min(mtu, data + extra)
= skb_end_offset - hlen - min(mtu, skb_end_offset - hlen - tlen)
= skb_tailroom - min(mtu, skb_tailroom - tlen) ; after skb_reserve(hlen)

Compare the second line to the current expression:
reserved_tailroom = skb_end_offset - min(mtu, skb_end_offset)
and we can see that hlen and tlen are not taken into account.

The min() in the third line can be expanded into:
if mtu < skb_tailroom - tlen:
	reserved_tailroom = skb_tailroom - mtu
else:
	reserved_tailroom = tlen

Depending on hlen, tlen, mtu and the number of multicast address records,
the current code may output skbs that have less tailroom than
dev->needed_tailroom or it may output more skbs than needed because not all
space available is used.

computing the outer header checksum.

First we can assume the entire header is in the region pointed to by

Second, as a result of our first assumption, we can just call csum_partial

The arithmetic properties of the ones-complement checksum mean that a
correctly checksummed inner packet, including its checksum, has a ones
complement sum depending only on whatever value was used to initialise
the checksum field before checksumming (in the case of TCP and UDP,
this is the ones complement sum of the pseudo header, complemented).
Consequently, if we are going to offload the inner checksum with
CHECKSUM_PARTIAL, we can compute the outer checksum based only on the
packed data not covered by the inner checksum, and the initial value of
 the inner checksum field.

Jesper Dangaard Brouer 15fad714be net: bulk free SKBs that were delay free'ed due to IRQ context
The network stack defers SKBs free, in-case free happens in IRQ or
when IRQs are disabled. This happens in __dev_kfree_skb_irq() that
writes SKBs that were free'ed during IRQ to the softirq completion
queue (softnet_data.completion_queue).

These SKBs are naturally delayed, and cleaned up during NET_TX_SOFTIRQ
in function net_tx_action(). Take advantage of this a use the skb
defer and flush API, as we are already in softirq context.

For modern drivers this rarely happens. Although most drivers do call
dev_kfree_skb_any(), which detects the situation and calls
__dev_kfree_skb_irq() when needed. This due to netpoll can call from
IRQ context.

Jesper Dangaard Brouer 795bb1c00d net: bulk free infrastructure for NAPI context, use napi_consume_skb
Discovered that network stack were hitting the kmem_cache/SLUB
slowpath when freeing SKBs. Doing bulk free with kmem_cache_free_bulk
can speedup this slowpath.

NAPI context is a bit special, lets take advantage of that for bulk
free'ing SKBs.

In NAPI context we are running in softirq, which gives us certain
protection. A softirq can run on several CPUs at once. BUT the
important part is a softirq will never preempt another softirq running
on the same CPU. This gives us the opportunity to access per-cpu
variables in softirq context.

Extend napi_alloc_cache (before only contained page_frag_cache) to be
a struct with a small array based stack for holding SKBs. Introduce a
SKB defer and flush API for accessing this.

Introduce napi_consume_skb() as replacement for e.g. dev_consume_skb_any()
when running in NAPI context. A small trick to handle/detect if we
are called from netpoll is to see if budget is 0. In that case, we
need to invoke dev_consume_skb_irq().

Alexander Duyck 08b64fcca9 net: Store checksum result for offloaded GSO checksums
This patch makes it so that we can offload the checksums for a packet up
to a certain point and then begin computing the checksums via software.
Setting this up is fairly straight forward as all we need to do is reset
the values stored in csum and csum_start for the GSO context block.

One complication for this is remote checksum offload. In order to allow
the inner checksums to be offloaded while computing the outer checksum
manually we needed to have some way of indicating that the offload wasn't
real. In order to do that I replaced CHECKSUM_PARTIAL with
CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY in the case of us computing checksums for the outer
header while skipping computing checksums for the inner headers. We clean
up the ip_summed flag and set it to either CHECKSUM_PARTIAL or
CHECKSUM_NONE once we hand the packet off to the next lower level.

Rainer Weikusat ea3793ee29 core: enable more fine-grained datagram reception control
The __skb_recv_datagram routine in core/ datagram.c provides a general
skb reception factility supposed to be utilized by protocol modules
providing datagram sockets. It encompasses both the actual recvmsg code

inconvenient if a protocol module has to use additional locking in order
to maintain some per-socket state the generic datagram socket code is
unaware of (as the af_unix code does). The patch below moves the recvmsg
proper code into a new __skb_try_recv_datagram routine which doesn't
sleep and renames wait_for_more_packets to

Mel Gorman d0164adc89 mm, page_alloc: distinguish between being unable to sleep, unwilling to sleep and avoiding waking kswapd
__GFP_WAIT has been used to identify atomic context in callers that hold
spinlocks or are in interrupts. They are expected to be high priority and
have access one of two watermarks lower than "min" which can be referred
to as the "atomic reserve". __GFP_HIGH users get access to the first
lower watermark and can be called the "high priority reserve".

Over time, callers had a requirement to not block when fallback options
were available. Some have abused __GFP_WAIT leading to a situation where
an optimisitic allocation with a fallback option can access atomic

This patch uses __GFP_ATOMIC to identify callers that are truely atomic,

__GFP_HIGH. __GFP_DIRECT_RECLAIM identifies callers that can sleep and
are willing to enter direct reclaim. __GFP_KSWAPD_RECLAIM to identify
callers that want to wake kswapd for background reclaim. __GFP_WAIT is
redefined as a caller that is willing to enter direct reclaim and wake
kswapd for background reclaim.

This patch then converts a number of sites

o __GFP_ATOMIC is used by callers that are high priority and have memory
pools for those requests. GFP_ATOMIC uses this flag.

o Callers that have a limited mempool to guarantee forward progress clear
__GFP_DIRECT_RECLAIM but keep __GFP_KSWAPD_RECLAIM. bio allocations fall
into this category where kswapd will still be woken but atomic reserves
are not used as there is a one-entry mempool to guarantee progress.

o Callers that are checking if they are non-blocking should use the
helper gfpflags_allow_blocking() where possible. This is because
checking for __GFP_WAIT as was done historically now can trigger false
positives. Some exceptions like dm-crypt.c exist where the code intent
is clearer if __GFP_DIRECT_RECLAIM is used instead of the helper due to
  flag manipulations.

o Callers that built their own GFP flags instead of starting with GFP_KERNEL
and friends now also need to specify __GFP_KSWAPD_RECLAIM.

The first key hazard to watch out for is callers that removed __GFP_WAIT
and was depending on access to atomic reserves for inconspicuous reasons.
In some cases it may be appropriate for them to use __GFP_HIGH.

The second key hazard is callers that assembled their own combination of
GFP flags instead of starting with something like GFP_KERNEL. They may
now wish to specify __GFP_KSWAPD_RECLAIM. It's almost certainly harmless
if it's missed in most cases as other activity will wake kswapd.

Michal Hocko 2f064f3485 mm: make page pfmemalloc check more robust
Commit c48a11c7ad ("netvm: propagate page->pfmemalloc to skb") added
checks for page->pfmemalloc to __skb_fill_page_desc():

        if (page->pfmemalloc && !page->mapping)
                skb->pfmemalloc = true;

It assumes page->mapping == NULL implies that page->pfmemalloc can be
trusted. However, __delete_from_page_cache() can set set page->mapping
to NULL and leave page->index value alone. Due to being in union, a
non-zero page->index will be interpreted as true page->pfmemalloc.

So the assumption is invalid if the networking code can see such a page.
And it seems it can. We have encountered this with a NFS over loopback
setup when such a page is attached to a new skbuf. There is no copying
going on in this case so the page confuses __skb_fill_page_desc which
interprets the index as pfmemalloc flag and the network stack drops
packets that have been allocated using the reserves unless they are to
be queued on sockets handling the swapping which is the case here and
that leads to hangs when the nfs client waits for a response from the
server which has been dropped and thus never arrive.

The struct page is already heavily packed so rather than finding another
hole to put it in, let's do a trick instead. We can reuse the index
again but define it to an impossible value (-1UL). This is the page
index so it should never see the value that large. Replace all direct
users of page->pfmemalloc by page_is_pfmemalloc which will hide this
nastiness from unspoiled eyes.

The information will get lost if somebody wants to use page->index
obviously but that was the case before and the original code expected
that the information should be persisted somewhere else if that is
really needed (e.g. what SLAB and SLUB do).

Netfilter updates for net-next

The following patchset contains Netfilter updates for net-next, they are:

1) A couple of cleanups for the netfilter core hook from Eric Biederman.

2) Net namespace hook registration, also from Eric. This adds a dependency with
the rtnl_lock. This should be fine by now but we have to keep an eye on this
because if we ever get the per-subsys nfnl_lock before rtnl we have may
problems in the future. But we have room to remove this in the future by
propagating the complexity to the clients, by registering hooks for the init
   netns functions.

3) Update nf_tables to use the new net namespace hook infrastructure, also from
   Eric.

4) Three patches to refine and to address problems from the new net namespace
   hook infrastructure.

5) Switch to alternate jumpstack in xtables iff the packet is reentering. This
only applies to a very special case, the TEE target, but Eric Dumazet
reports that this is slowing down things for everyone else. So let's only
switch to the alternate jumpstack if the tee target is in used through a
static key. This batch also comes with offline precalculation of the
jumpstack based on the callchain depth. From Florian Westphal.

6) Minimal SCTP multihoming support for our conntrack helper, from Michal
   Kubecek.

7) Reduce nf_bridge_info per skbuff scratchpad area to 32 bytes, from Florian

8) Fix several checkpatch errors in bridge netfilter, from Bernhard Thaler.

Thomas Graf ee122c79d4 vxlan: Flow based tunneling
Allows putting a VXLAN device into a new flow-based mode in which
skbs with a ip_tunnel_info dst metadata attached will be encapsulated
according to the instructions stored in there with the VXLAN device
defaults taken into consideration.

Similar on the receive side, if the VXLAN_F_COLLECT_METADATA flag is
set, the packet processing will populate a ip_tunnel_info struct for
each packet received and attach it to the skb using the new metadata
dst. The metadata structure will contain the outer header and tunnel
header fields which have been stripped off. Layers further up in the
stack such as routing, tc or netfitler can later match on these fields
and perform forwarding. It is the responsibility of upper layers to
ensure that the flag is set if the metadata is needed. The flag limits
the additional cost of metadata collecting based on demand.

This prepares the VXLAN device to be steered by the routing and other
subsystems which allows to support encapsulation for a large number
of tunnel endpoints and tunnel ids through a single net_device which
improves the scalability.

It also allows for OVS to leverage this mode which in turn allows for
the removal of the OVS specific VXLAN code.

Because the skb is currently scrubed in vxlan_rcv(), the attachment of
the new dst metadata is postponed until after scrubing which requires
the temporary addition of a new member to vxlan_metadata. This member
is removed again in a later commit after the indirect VXLAN receive API
has been removed.

Bernhard Thaler 72b31f7271 netfilter: bridge: detect NAT66 correctly and change MAC address
IPv4 iptables allows to REDIRECT/DNAT/SNAT any traffic over a bridge.

e.g. REDIRECT
$ sysctl -w net.bridge.bridge-nf-call-iptables=1
$ iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp -m tcp --dport 8080 \
  -j REDIRECT --to-ports 81

This does not work with ip6tables on a bridge in NAT66 scenario
because the REDIRECT/DNAT/SNAT is not correctly detected.

The bridge pre-routing (finish) netfilter hook has to check for a possible
redirect and then fix the destination mac address. This allows to use the
ip6tables rules for local REDIRECT/DNAT/SNAT REDIRECT similar to the IPv4
iptables version.

e.g. REDIRECT
$ sysctl -w net.bridge.bridge-nf-call-ip6tables=1
$ ip6tables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp -m tcp --dport 8080 \
  -j REDIRECT --to-ports 81

This patch makes it possible to use IPv6 NAT66 on a bridge. It was tested
on a bridge with two interfaces using SNAT/DNAT NAT66 rules.

Switchdev was a case of RTNH_H_{EXTERNAL --> OFFLOAD}
renaming overlapping with net-next changes of various
sorts.

phy.c was a case of two changes, one adding a local
variable to a function whilst the second was removing
one.

tcp.c overlapped a deadlock fix with the addition of new tcp_info
statistic values.

macb.c involved the addition of two zyncq device entries.

skbuff.h involved adding back ipv4_daddr to nf_bridge_info
whilst net-next changes put two other existing members of
that struct into a union.

Florian Westphal faecbb45eb Revert "netfilter: bridge: query conntrack about skb dnat"
This reverts commit c055d5b03b.

There are two issues:
'dnat_took_place' made me think that this is related to
-j DNAT/MASQUERADE.

But thats only one part of the story. This is also relevant for SNAT
when we undo snat translation in reverse/reply direction.

Furthermore, I originally wanted to do this mainly to avoid
storing ipv6 addresses once we make DNAT/REDIRECT work
for ipv6 on bridges.

However, I forgot about SNPT/DNPT which is stateless.

So we can't escape storing address for ipv6 anyway. Might as
well do it for ipv4 too.

Netfilter updates for net-next

The following patchset contains Netfilter updates for net-next. Briefly
speaking, cleanups and minor fixes for ipset from Jozsef Kadlecsik and
Serget Popovich, more incremental updates to make br_netfilter a better
place from Florian Westphal, ARP support to the x_tables mark match /
target from and context Zhang Chunyu and the addition of context to know
that the x_tables runs through nft_compat. More specifically, they are:

1) Fix sparse warning in ipset/ip_set_hash_ipmark.c when fetching the
IPSET_ATTR_MARK netlink attribute, from Jozsef Kadlecsik.

2) Rename STREQ macro to STRNCMP in ipset, also from Jozsef.

3) Use skb->network_header to calculate the transport offset in
   ip_set_get_ip{4,6}_port(). From Alexander Drozdov.

4) Reduce memory consumption per element due to size miscalculation,
this patch and follow up patches from Sergey Popovich.

5) Expand nomatch field from 1 bit to 8 bits to allow to simplify
   mtype_data_reset_flags(), also from Sergey.

6) Small clean for ipset macro trickery.

7) Fix error reporting when both ip_set_get_hostipaddr4() and
   ip_set_get_extensions() from per-set uadt functions.

8) Simplify IPSET_ATTR_PORT netlink attribute validation.

9) Introduce HOST_MASK instead of hardcoded 32 in ipset.

10) Return true/false instead of 0/1 in functions that return boolean
    in the ipset code.

11) Validate maximum length of the IPSET_ATTR_COMMENT netlink attribute.

12) Allow to dereference from ext_*() ipset macros.

13) Get rid of incorrect definitions of HKEY_DATALEN.

14) Include linux/netfilter/ipset/ip_set.h in the x_tables set match.

15) Reduce nf_bridge_info size in br_netfilter, from Florian Westphal.

16) Release nf_bridge_info after POSTROUTING since this is only needed
from the physdev match, also from Florian.

17) Reduce size of ipset code by deinlining ip_set_put_extensions(),
    from Denys Vlasenko.

18) Oneliner to add ARP support to the x_tables mark match/target, from
    Zhang Chunyu.

19) Add context to know if the x_tables extension runs from nft_compat,
to address minor problems with three existing extensions.

20) Correct return value in several seqfile *_show() functions in the

This change moves the __alloc_page_frag functionality out of the networking

this maintainable by placing it with other page allocation functions.

Since we are moving it from skbuff.c to page_alloc.c I have also renamed
the basic defines and structure from netdev_alloc_cache to page_frag_cache
to reflect that this is now part of a different kernel subsystem.

I have also added a simple __free_page_frag function which can handle
freeing the frags based on the skb->head pointer. The model for this is
based off of __free_pages since we don't actually need to deal with all of
the cases that put_page handles. I incorporated the virt_to_head_page call
and compound_order into the function as it actually allows for a signficant
size reduction by reducing code duplication.

Florian Westphal a1e67951e6 netfilter: bridge: make BRNF_PKT_TYPE flag a bool
nf_bridge_info->mask is used for several things, for example to
remember if skb->pkt_type was set to OTHER_HOST.

For a bridge, OTHER_HOST is expected case. For ip forward its a non-starter
though -- routing expects PACKET_HOST.

Bridge netfilter thus changes OTHER_HOST to PACKET_HOST before hook
invocation and then un-does it after hook traversal.

This information is irrelevant outside of br_netfilter.

After this change, ->mask now only contains flags that need to be
known outside of br_netfilter in fast-path.

Future patch changes mask into a 2bit state field in sk_buff, so that
we can remove skb->nf_bridge pointer for good and consider all remaining
places that access nf_bridge info content a not-so fastpath.

Florian Westphal e70deecbf8 netfilter: bridge: don't use nf_bridge_info data to store mac header
br_netfilter maintains an extra state, nf_bridge_info, which is attached
to skb via skb->nf_bridge pointer.

Amongst other things we use skb->nf_bridge->data to store the original
mac header for every processed skb.

This is required for ip refragmentation when using conntrack
on top of bridge, because ip_fragment doesn't copy it from original skb.

However there is no need anymore to do this unconditionally.

Move this to the one place where its needed -- when br_netfilter calls
ip_fragment().

Also switch to percpu storage for this so we can handle fragmenting
without accessing nf_bridge meta data.

Only user left is neigh resolution when DNAT is detected, to hold
the original source mac address (neigh resolution builds new mac header
using bridge mac), so rename ->data and reduce its size to whats needed.

Conflicts:

The be_main.c conflict resolution was really tricky. The conflict

split functions in half and moved them around, when the real actual
conflict only existed solely inside of one function, that being
be_map_pci_bars().

So instead, to resolve this, I checked out be_main.c from the top
of net-next, then I applied the be_main.c changes from 'net' since
the last time I merged. And this worked beautifully.

The inet_diag.c and sysctl_net_core.c conflicts were simple

unionized skb->mark and skb->dropcount in order to allow recording
of the socket drop count while maintaining struct sk_buff size.

skb->dropcount was introduced since there was no available room
in skb->cb[] in packet sockets. However, its introduction led to
the inability to export skb->mark, or any other aliased field to
userspace if so desired.

Moving the dropcount metric to skb->cb[] eliminates this problem
at the expense of 4 bytes less in skb->cb[] for protocol families
using it.

csum_offset it is possible they have not been verfied.

__skb_gro_checksum_validate_needed to only considered checksums
referring to csum_start and any preceding checksums (with starting
offset before csum_start) to be verified.

Eric Dumazet 2bd82484bb xps: fix xps for stacked devices
A typical qdisc setup is the following :

bond0 : bonding device, using HTB hierarchy
eth1/eth2 : slaves, multiqueue NIC, using MQ + FQ qdisc

XPS allows to spread packets on specific tx queues, based on the cpu
doing the send.

Problem is that dequeues from bond0 qdisc can happen on random cpus,
due to the fact that qdisc_run() can dequeue a batch of packets.

CPUA -> queue packet P1 on bond0 qdisc, P1->ooo_okay=1
CPUA -> queue packet P2 on bond0 qdisc, P2->ooo_okay=0

CPUB -> dequeue packet P1 from bond0
        enqueue packet on eth1/eth2
CPUC -> dequeue packet P2 from bond0
enqueue packet on eth1/eth2 using sk cache (ooo_okay is 0)

get_xps_queue() then might select wrong queue for P1, since current cpu
might be different than CPUA.

P2 might be sent on the old queue (stored in sk->sk_tx_queue_mapping),
if CPUC runs a bit faster (or CPUB spins a bit on qdisc lock)

Effect of this bug is TCP reorders, and more generally not optimal
TX queue placement. (A victim bulk flow can be migrated to the wrong TX
queue for a while)

To fix this, we have to record sender cpu number the first time
dev_queue_xmit() is called for one tx skb.

We can union napi_id (used on receive path) and sender_cpu,
granted we clear sender_cpu in skb_scrub_packet() (credit to Willem for
this union idea)

Alexander Duyck fd11a83dd3 net: Pull out core bits of __netdev_alloc_skb and add __napi_alloc_skb
This change pulls the core functionality out of __netdev_alloc_skb and
places them in a new function named __alloc_rx_skb. The reason for doing
this is to make these bits accessible to a new function __napi_alloc_skb.
In addition __alloc_rx_skb now has a new flags value that is used to
determine which page frag pool to allocate from. If the SKB_ALLOC_NAPI
flag is set then the NAPI pool is used. The advantage of this is that we
do not have to use local_irq_save/restore when accessing the NAPI pool from
NAPI context.

In my test setup I saw at least 11ns of savings using the napi_alloc_skb
function versus the netdev_alloc_skb function, most of this being due to
the fact that we didn't have to call local_irq_save/restore.

The main use case for napi_alloc_skb would be for things such as copybreak
or page fragment based receive paths where an skb is allocated after the
data has been received instead of before.

Alexander Duyck ffde7328a3 net: Split netdev_alloc_frag into __alloc_page_frag and add __napi_alloc_frag
This patch splits the netdev_alloc_frag function up so that it can be used
on one of two page frag pools instead of being fixed on the
netdev_alloc_cache. By doing this we can add a NAPI specific function
__napi_alloc_frag that accesses a pool that is only used from softirq
context. The advantage to this is that we do not need to call
local_irq_save/restore which can be a significant savings.

I also took the opportunity to refactor the core bits that were placed in
__alloc_page_frag. First I updated the allocation to do either a 32K
allocation or an order 0 page. This is based on the changes in commmit
d9b2938aa where it was found that latencies could be reduced in case of
failures. Then I also rewrote the logic to work from the end of the page to
the start. By doing this the size value doesn't have to be used unless we
have run out of space for page fragments. Finally I cleaned up the atomic
bits so that we just do an atomic_sub_and_test and if that returns true then
we set the page->_count via an atomic_set. This way we can remove the extra
conditional for the atomic_read since it would have led to an atomic_inc in
the case of success anyway.

... making both non-draining. That means that tcp_recvmsg() becomes
non-draining. And _that_ would break iscsit_do_rx_data() unless we
	a) make sure tcp_recvmsg() is uniformly non-draining (it is)
	b) make sure it copes with arbitrary (including shifted)
iov_iter (it does, all it uses is iov_iter primitives)
	c) make iscsit_do_rx_data() initialize ->msg_iter only once.

Fortunately, (c) is doable with minimal work and we are rid of one
the two places where kernel send/recvmsg users would be unhappy with
non-draining behaviour.

Actually, that makes all but one of ->recvmsg() instances iov_iter-clean.
The exception is skcipher_recvmsg() and it also isn't hard to convert

Commit ce1a4ea3f1 ("net: avoid one atomic operation in skb_clone()")
took the wrong way to save one atomic operation.

It is actually possible to avoid two atomic operations, if we

skb_clone() can simply use the fast clone if clone_ref is 1.

kfree_skbmem() can avoid the atomic_dec_and_test() if clone_ref is 1.

Note that because we usually free the clone before the original skb,
this particular attempt is only done for the original skb to have better
branch prediction.

Alexander Duyck 9c0c112422 net: Add functions for handling padding frame and adding to length
This patch adds two new helper functions skb_put_padto and eth_skb_pad.
These functions deviate from the standard skb_pad or skb_padto in that they
will also update the length and tail pointers so that they reflect the
padding added to the frame.

The eth_skb_pad helper is meant to be used with Ethernet devices to update
either Rx or Tx frames so that they report the correct size. The
skb_put_padto helper is meant to be used primarily in the transmit path for
network devices that need frames to be padded up to some minimum size and
don't wish to simply update the length somewhere external to the frame.

The motivation behind this is that there are a number of implementations
throughout the network device drivers that are all doing the same thing,
but each a little bit differently and as a result several implementations
contain bugs such as updating the length without updating the tail offset
and other similar issues.

Alexander Duyck 71dfda58aa net: Add device Rx page allocation function
This patch implements __dev_alloc_pages and __dev_alloc_page. These are
meant to replace the __skb_alloc_pages and __skb_alloc_page functions. The
reason for doing this is that it occurred to me that __skb_alloc_page is
supposed to be passed an sk_buff pointer, but it is NULL in all cases where
it is used. Worse is that in the case of ixgbe it is passed NULL via the
sk_buff pointer in the rx_buffer info structure which means the compiler is
not correctly stripping it out.

The naming for these functions is based on dev_alloc_skb and __dev_alloc_skb.
There was originally a netdev_alloc_page, however that was passed a
net_device pointer and this function is not so I thought it best to follow
that naming scheme since that is the same difference between dev_alloc_skb
and netdev_alloc_skb.

In the case of anything greater than order 0 it is assumed that we want a
compound page so __GFP_COMP is set for all allocations as we expect a
compound page when assigning a page frag.

The other change in this patch is to exploit the behaviors of the page
allocator in how it handles flags. So for example we can always set
__GFP_COMP and __GFP_MEMALLOC since they are ignored if they are not
applicable or are overridden by another flag.

Linus Torvalds 35a9ad8af0 Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net-next
Pull networking updates from David Miller:
 "Most notable changes in here:

   1) By far the biggest accomplishment, thanks to a large range of
contributors, is the addition of multi-send for transmit. This is
the result of discussions back in Chicago, and the hard work of
      several individuals.

Now, when the ->ndo_start_xmit() method of a driver sees
skb->xmit_more as true, it can choose to defer the doorbell
telling the driver to start processing the new TX queue entires.

skb->xmit_more means that the generic networking is guaranteed to
call the driver immediately with another SKB to send.

There is logic added to the qdisc layer to dequeue multiple
packets at a time, and the handling mis-predicted offloads in
software is now done with no locks held.

Finally, pktgen is extended to have a "burst" parameter that can
be used to test a multi-send implementation.

Several drivers have xmit_more support: i40e, igb, ixgbe, mlx4,
      virtio_net

Adding support is almost trivial, so export more drivers to
      support this optimization soon.

   3) Allow adjusting the rx_copybreak threshold for a driver via
ethtool, and add rx_copybreak support to enic driver. From

   4) Significant enhancements to the generic PHY layer and the bcm7xxx
driver in particular (EEE support, auto power down, etc.) from
      Florian Fainelli.

   5) Allow raw buffers to be used for flow dissection, allowing drivers
to determine the optimal "linear pull" size for devices that DMA
into pools of pages. The objective is to get exactly the
necessary amount of headers into the linear SKB area pre-pulled,
but no more. The new interface drivers use is eth_get_headlen().
From WANG Cong, with driver conversions (several had their own
by-hand duplicated implementations) by Alexander Duyck and Eric

encapsulations, and add "foo over UDP" facility. From Tom
      Herbert.

   7) Add Broadcom SF2 switch driver to DSA layer, from Florian
      Fainelli.

   8) eBPF now can load programs via a system call and has an extensive
testsuite. Alexei Starovoitov and Daniel Borkmann.

areas such as the classifiers and rate estimators. From John

These patches have been languishing in my tree for a long while. The

Vijay Subramanian c8753d55af net: Cleanup skb cloning by adding SKB_FCLONE_FREE
SKB_FCLONE_UNAVAILABLE has overloaded meaning depending on type of skb.
1: If skb is allocated from head_cache, it indicates fclone is not available.
2: If skb is a companion fclone skb (allocated from fclone_cache), it indicates
it is available to be used.

To avoid confusion for case 2 above, this patch replaces
SKB_FCLONE_UNAVAILABLE with SKB_FCLONE_FREE where appropriate. For fclone
companion skbs, this indicates it is free for use.

SKB_FCLONE_UNAVAILABLE will now simply indicate skb is from head_cache and
cannot / will not have a companion fclone.

Tom Herbert 8bce6d7d0d udp: Generalize skb_udp_segment
skb_udp_segment is the function called from udp4_ufo_fragment to
segment a UDP tunnel packet. This function currently assumes
segmentation is transparent Ethernet bridging (i.e. VXLAN
encapsulation). This patch generalizes the function to
operate on either Ethertype or IP protocol.

The inner_protocol field must be set to the protocol of the inner
header. This can now be either an Ethertype or an IP protocol
(in a union). A new flag in the skbuff indicates which type is
effective. skb_set_inner_protocol and skb_set_inner_ipproto
helper functions were added to set the inner_protocol. These
functions are called from the point where the tunnel encapsulation
is occuring.

When skb_udp_tunnel_segment is called, the function to segment the
inner packet is selected based on the inner IP or Ethertype. In the
case of an IP protocol encapsulation, the function is derived from
inet[6]_offloads. In the case of Ethertype, skb->protocol is
set to the inner_protocol and skb_mac_gso_segment is called. (GRE
currently does this, but it might be possible to lookup the protocol
in offload_base and call the appropriate segmenation function
directly).

Pablo Neira Ayuso says:

====================
pull request: netfilter/ipvs updates for net-next

The following patchset contains Netfilter/IPVS updates for net-next,
most relevantly they are:

1) Four patches to make the new nf_tables masquerading support
independent of the x_tables infrastructure. This also resolves a
compilation breakage if the masquerade target is disabled but the
   nf_tables masq expression is enabled.

2) ipset updates via Jozsef Kadlecsik. This includes the addition of the
skbinfo extension that allows you to store packet metainformation in the
elements. This can be used to fetch and restore this to the packets through
the iptables SET target, patches from Anton Danilov.

3) Add the hash:mac set type to ipset, from Jozsef Kadlecsick.

4) Add simple weighted fail-over scheduler via Simon Horman. This provides
a fail-over IPVS scheduler (unlike existing load balancing schedulers).
Connections are directed to the appropriate server based solely on
highest weight value and server availability, patch from Kenny Mathis.

5) Support IPv6 real servers in IPv4 virtual-services and vice versa.
Simon Horman informs that the motivation for this is to allow more
flexibility in the choice of IP version offered by both virtual-servers
and real-servers as they no longer need to match: An IPv4 connection
from an end-user may be forwarded to a real-server using IPv6 and
vice versa. No ip_vs_sync support yet though. Patches from Alex Gartrell
   and Julian Anastasov.

6) Add global generation ID to the nf_tables ruleset. When dumping from
several different object lists, we need a way to identify that an update
has ocurred so userspace knows that it needs to refresh its lists. This
also includes a new command to obtain the 32-bits generation ID. The
less significant 16-bits of this ID is also exposed through res_id field
in the nfnetlink header to quickly detect the interference and retry when
there is no risk of ID wraparound.

7) Move br_netfilter out of the bridge core. The br_netfilter code is
built in the bridge core by default. This causes problems of different
kind to people that don't want this: Jesper reported performance drop due
to the inconditional hook registration and I remember to have read complains
on netdev from people regarding the unexpected behaviour of our bridging
stack when br_netfilter is enabled (fragmentation handling, layer 3 and
upper inspection). People that still need this should easily undo the
damage by modprobing the new br_netfilter module.

8) Dump the set policy nf_tables that allows set parameterization. So
userspace can keep user-defined preferences when saving the ruleset.
   From Arturo Borrero.

9) Use __seq_open_private() helper function to reduce boiler plate code
   in x_tables, From Rob Jones.

10) Safer default behaviour in case that you forget to load the protocol
tracker. Daniel Borkmann and Florian Westphal detected that if your
ruleset is stateful, you allow traffic to at least one single SCTP port
and the SCTP protocol tracker is not loaded, then any SCTP traffic may
be pass through unfiltered. After this patch, the connection tracking
classifies SCTP/DCCP/UDPlite/GRE packets as invalid if your kernel has
been compiled with support for these modules.

Eric Dumazet b193722731 net: reorganize sk_buff for faster __copy_skb_header()
With proliferation of bit fields in sk_buff, __copy_skb_header() became
quite expensive, showing as the most expensive function in a GSO
workload.

__copy_skb_header() performance is also critical for non GSO TCP
operations, as it is used from skb_clone()

This patch carefully moves all the fields that were not copied in a
separate zone : cloned, nohdr, fclone, peeked, head_frag, xmit_more

Then I moved all other fields and all other copied fields in a section
delimited by headers_start[0]/headers_end[0] section so that we
can use a single memcpy() call, inlined by compiler using long
word load/stores.

I also tried to make all copies in the natural orders of sk_buff,
to help hardware prefetching.

I made sure sk_buff size did not change.

Pablo Neira Ayuso 34666d467c netfilter: bridge: move br_netfilter out of the core
Jesper reported that br_netfilter always registers the hooks since
this is part of the bridge core. This harms performance for people that
don't need this.

This patch modularizes br_netfilter so it can be rmmod'ed, thus,
the hooks can be unregistered. I think the bridge netfilter should have
been a separated module since the beginning, Patrick agreed on that.

Note that this is breaking compatibility for users that expect that
bridge netfilter is going to be available after explicitly 'modprobe
bridge' or via automatic load through brctl.

However, the damage can be easily undone by modprobing br_netfilter.
The bridge core also spots a message to provide a clue to people that
didn't notice that this has been deprecated.

On top of that, the plan is that nftables will not rely on this software
layer, but integrate the connection tracking into the bridge layer to
enable stateful filtering and NAT, which is was bridge netfilter users
seem to require.

This patch still keeps the fake_dst_ops in the bridge core, since this
is required by when the bridge port is initialized. So we can safely
modprobe/rmmod br_netfilter anytime.

Alexander Duyck 56193d1bce net: Add function for parsing the header length out of linear ethernet frames
This patch updates some of the flow_dissector api so that it can be used to
parse the length of ethernet buffers stored in fragments. Most of the
changes needed were to __skb_get_poff as it needed to be updated to support
sending a linear buffer instead of a skb.

I have split __skb_get_poff into two functions, the first is skb_get_poff
and it retains the functionality of the original __skb_get_poff. The other
function is __skb_get_poff which now works much like __skb_flow_dissect in
relation to skb_flow_dissect in that it provides the same functionality but
works with just a data buffer and hlen instead of needing an skb.

The phy timestamping takes a different path than the regular timestamping
does in that it will create a clone first so that the packets needing to be

In order to support these use cases I am pulling the core of the code out
so it can be used in other drivers beyond just phy devices.

In addition I have added a destructor named sock_efree which is meant to
provide a simple way for dropping the reference to skb exceptions that
aren't part of either the receive or send windows for the socket, and I
have removed some duplication in spots where this destructor could be used

Tom Herbert d96535a17d net: Infrastructure for checksum unnecessary conversions
For normal path, added skb_checksum_try_convert which is called
to attempt to convert CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY to CHECKSUM_COMPLETE. The
primary condition to allow this is that ip_summed is CHECKSUM_NONE
and csum_valid is true, which will be the state after consuming
a CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY.

For GRO path, added skb_gro_checksum_try_convert which is the GRO
analogue of skb_checksum_try_convert. The primary condition to allow
this is that NAPI_GRO_CB(skb)->csum_cnt == 0 and
NAPI_GRO_CB(skb)->csum_valid is set. This implies that we have consumed
all available CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY checksums in the GRO path.

Tom Herbert 5a21232983 net: Support for csum_bad in skbuff
This flag indicates that an invalid checksum was detected in the
packet. __skb_mark_checksum_bad helper function was added to set this.

Checksums can be marked bad from a driver or the GRO path (the latter
is implemented in this patch). csum_bad is checked in
__skb_checksum_validate_complete (i.e. calling that when ip_summed ==
CHECKSUM_NONE).

csum_bad works in conjunction with ip_summed value. In the case that
ip_summed is CHECKSUM_NONE and csum_bad is set, this implies that the
first (or next) checksum encountered in the packet is bad. When
ip_summed is CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY, the first checksum after the last
one validated is bad. For example, if ip_summed == CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY,
csum_level == 1, and csum_bad is set-- then the third checksum in the
packet is bad. In the normal path, the packet will be dropped when
processing the protocol layer of the bad checksum:
__skb_decr_checksum_unnecessary called twice for the good checksums
changing ip_summed to CHECKSUM_NONE so that
__skb_checksum_validate_complete is called to validate the third
checksum and that will fail since csum_bad is set.

As reported by Jesper Dangaard Brouer, for high packet rates the
overhead of having another indirect call in the TX path is
non-trivial.

There is the indirect call itself, and then there is all of the
reloading of the state to refetch the tail pointer value and
then write the device register.

Move to a more passive scheme, which requires very light modifications
to the device drivers.

The signal is a new skb->xmit_more value, if it is non-zero it means
that more SKBs are pending to be transmitted on the same queue as the
current SKB. And therefore, the driver may elide the tail pointer
update.

Right now skb->xmit_more is always zero.

David S. Miller 690e36e726 net: Allow raw buffers to be passed into the flow dissector.
Drivers, and perhaps other entities we have not yet considered,
sometimes want to know how deep the protocol headers go before
deciding how large of an SKB to allocate and how much of the packet to
place into the linear SKB area.

For example, consider a driver which has a device which DMAs into
pools of pages and then tells the driver where the data went in the
DMA descriptor(s). The driver can then build an SKB and reference
most of the data via SKB fragments (which are page/offset/length
triplets).

However at least some of the front of the packet should be placed into
the linear SKB area, which comes before the fragments, so that packet
processing can get at the headers efficiently. The first thing each
protocol layer is going to do is a "pskb_may_pull()" so we might as
well aggregate as much of this as possible while we're building the
SKB in the driver.

Part of supporting this is that we don't have an SKB yet, so we want
to be able to let the flow dissector operate on a raw buffer in order
to compute the offset of the end of the headers.

So now we have a __skb_flow_dissect() which takes an explicit data
pointer and length.

Currently the functionality to untag traffic on input resides
as part of the vlan module and is build only when VLAN support

vlan_untag() turns into a stub and doesn't really untag the
packets. This seems to create an interesting interaction
between VMs supporting checksum offloading and some network drivers.

There are some drivers that do not allow the user to change
tx-vlan-offload feature of the driver. These drivers also seem
to assume that any VLAN-tagged traffic they transmit will
have the vlan information in the vlan_tci and not in the vlan
header already in the skb. When transmitting skbs that already
have tagged data with partial checksum set, the checksum doesn't
appear to be updated correctly by the card thus resulting in a
failure to establish TCP connections.

I've only access to the TG3 hardware in this configuration thus have
only tested this with TG3 driver. There are a lot of other drivers
that do not permit user changes to vlan acceleration features, and
I don't know if they all suffere from a similar issue.

The patch attempt to fix this another way. It moves the vlan header
stipping code out of the vlan module and always builds it into the
kernel network core. This way, even if vlan is not supported on
a virtualizatoin host, the virtual machines running on top of such
host will still work with VLANs enabled.

Willem de Bruijn e1c8a607b2 net-timestamp: ACK timestamp for bytestreams
Add SOF_TIMESTAMPING_TX_ACK, a request for a tstamp when the last byte
in the send() call is acknowledged. It implements the feature for TCP.

The timestamp is generated when the TCP socket cumulative ACK is moved
beyond the tracked seqno for the first time. The feature ignores SACK
and FACK, because those acknowledge the specific byte, but not
necessarily the entire contents of the buffer up to that byte.

Willem de Bruijn 09c2d251b7 net-timestamp: add key to disambiguate concurrent datagrams
Datagrams timestamped on transmission can coexist in the kernel stack
and be reordered in packet scheduling. When reading looped datagrams
from the socket error queue it is not always possible to unique
correlate looped data with original send() call (for application
level retransmits). Even if possible, it may be expensive and complex,
requiring packet inspection.

Introduce a data-independent ID mechanism to associate timestamps with
send calls. Pass an ID alongside the timestamp in field ee_data of
sock_extended_err.

The ID is a simple 32 bit unsigned int that is associated with the
socket and incremented on each send() call for which software tx
timestamp generation is enabled.

The feature is enabled only if SOF_TIMESTAMPING_OPT_ID is set, to
avoid changing ee_data for existing applications that expect it 0.
The counter is reset each time the flag is reenabled. Reenabling
does not change the ID of already submitted data. It is possible
to receive out of order IDs if the timestamp stream is not quiesced
first.

Willem de Bruijn 4d276eb6a4 net: remove deprecated syststamp timestamp
The SO_TIMESTAMPING API defines three types of timestamps: software,
hardware in raw format (hwtstamp) and hardware converted to system
format (syststamp). The last has been deprecated in favor of combining
hwtstamp with a PTP clock driver. There are no active users in the
kernel.

The option was device driver dependent. If set, but without hardware
support, the correct behavior is to return zero in the relevant field
in the SCM_TIMESTAMPING ancillary message. Without device drivers
implementing the option, this field is effectively always zero.

Remove the internal plumbing to dissuage new drivers from implementing
the feature. Keep the SOF_TIMESTAMPING_SYS_HARDWARE flag, however, to
avoid breaking existing applications that request the timestamp.

Willem de Bruijn 26c4fdb052 net-timestamp: document deprecated syststamp
The SO_TIMESTAMPING API defines option SOF_TIMESTAMPING_SYS_HW.
This feature is deprecated. It should not be implemented by new
device drivers. Existing drivers do not implement it, either --
with one exception.

Driver developers are encouraged to expose the NIC hw clock as a
PTP HW clock source, instead, and synchronize system time to the
HW source.

The control flag cannot be removed due to being part of the ABI, nor
can the structure scm_timestamping that is returned. Due to the one
legacy driver, the internal datapath and structure are not removed.

This patch only clearly marks the interface as deprecated. Device
drivers should always return a syststamp value of zero.

Tom Herbert 7e2b10c1e5 net: Support for multiple checksums with gso
When creating a GSO packet segment we may need to set more than
one checksum in the packet (for instance a TCP checksum and
UDP checksum for VXLAN encapsulation). To be efficient, we want
to do checksum calculation for any part of the packet at most once.

This patch adds csum_start offset to skb_gso_cb. This tracks the
starting offset for skb->csum which is initially set in skb_segment.
When a protocol needs to compute a transport checksum it calls
gso_make_checksum which computes the checksum value from the start
of transport header to csum_start and then adds in skb->csum to get
the full checksum. skb->csum and csum_start are then updated to reflect
the checksum of the resultant packet starting from the transport header.

This patch also adds a flag to skbuff, encap_hdr_csum, which is set
in *gso_segment fucntions to indicate that a tunnel protocol needs
checksum calculation

Daniel Borkmann 408eccce32 net: ptp: move PTP classifier in its own file
This commit fixes a build error reported by Fengguang, that is
triggered when CONFIG_NETWORK_PHY_TIMESTAMPING is not set:

  ERROR: "ptp_classify_raw" [drivers/net/ethernet/oki-semi/pch_gbe/pch_gbe.ko] undefined!

The fix is to introduce its own file for the PTP BPF classifier,
so that PTP_1588_CLOCK and/or NETWORK_PHY_TIMESTAMPING can select
it independently from each other. IXP4xx driver on ARM needs to
select it as well since it does not seem to select PTP_1588_CLOCK
or similar that would pull it in automatically.

This also allows for hiding all of the internals of the BPF PTP
program inside that file, and only exporting relevant API bits
to drivers.

This patch also adds a kdoc documentation of ptp_classify_raw()
API to make it clear that it can return PTP_CLASS_* defines. Also,
the BPF program has been translated into bpf_asm code, so that it
can be more easily read and altered (extensively documented in [1]).

In the kernel tree under tools/net/ we have bpf_asm and bpf_dbg
tools, so the commented program can simply be translated via
`./bpf_asm -c prog` where prog is a file that contains the
commented code. This makes it easily readable/verifiable and when
there's a need to change something, jump offsets etc do not need
to be replaced manually which can be very error prone. Instead,
a newly translated version via bpf_asm can simply replace the old
code. I have checked opcode diffs before/after and it's the very
same filter.

Florian Westphal fe6cc55f3a net: ip, ipv6: handle gso skbs in forwarding path
Marcelo Ricardo Leitner reported problems when the forwarding link path
has a lower mtu than the incoming one if the inbound interface supports GRO.

Given:
Host <mtu1500> R1 <mtu1200> R2

Host sends tcp stream which is routed via R1 and R2. R1 performs GRO.

In this case, the kernel will fail to send ICMP fragmentation needed
messages (or pkt too big for ipv6), as GSO packets currently bypass dstmtu
checks in forward path. Instead, Linux tries to send out packets exceeding
the mtu.

When locking route MTU on Host (i.e., no ipv4 DF bit set), R1 does
not fragment the packets when forwarding, and again tries to send out
packets exceeding R1-R2 link mtu.

This alters the forwarding dstmtu checks to take the individual gso
segment lengths into account.

For ipv6, we send out pkt too big error for gso if the individual
segments are too big.

For ipv4, we either send icmp fragmentation needed, or, if the DF bit
is not set, perform software segmentation and let the output path
create fragments when the packet is leaving the machine.
It is not 100% correct as the error message will contain the headers of
the GRO skb instead of the original/segmented one, but it seems to
work fine in my (limited) tests.

Eric Dumazet suggested to simply shrink mss via ->gso_size to avoid
sofware segmentation.

However it turns out that skb_segment() assumes skb nr_frags is related
to mss size so we would BUG there. I don't want to mess with it considering
Herbert and Eric disagree on what the correct behavior should be.

Hannes Frederic Sowa notes that when we would shrink gso_size
skb_segment would then also need to deal with the case where
SKB_MAX_FRAGS would be exceeded.

This uses sofware segmentation in the forward path when we hit ipv4
non-DF packets and the outgoing link mtu is too small. Its not perfect,
but given the lack of bug reports wrt. GRO fwd being broken this is a
rare case anyway. Also its not like this could not be improved later
once the dust settles.

This reverts commit 018c5bba05.

It causes regressions for people using chips driven by the sungem

The change also has a bug in that if __pskb_trim() fails, we'll leave
a corruped skb->csum value in there. We would really need to revert
it to it's original value in that case.

Jiri Pirko 6aafeef03b netfilter: push reasm skb through instead of original frag skbs
Pushing original fragments through causes several problems. For example
for matching, frags may not be matched correctly. Take following
example:

<example>
On HOSTA do:
ip6tables -I INPUT -p icmpv6 -j DROP
ip6tables -I INPUT -p icmpv6 -m icmp6 --icmpv6-type 128 -j ACCEPT

and on HOSTB you do:
ping6 HOSTA -s2000 (MTU is 1500)

Incoming echo requests will be filtered out on HOSTA. This issue does
not occur with smaller packets than MTU (where fragmentation does not happen)
</example>

As was discussed previously, the only correct solution seems to be to use
reassembled skb instead of separete frags. Doing this has positive side
effects in reducing sk_buff by one pointer (nfct_reasm) and also the reams
dances in ipvs and conntrack can be removed.

Future plan is to remove net/ipv6/netfilter/nf_conntrack_reasm.c
entirely and use code in net/ipv6/reassembly.c instead.

was needed.

This patch splits sk_page_frag_refill() into two parts, adding
skb_page_frag_refill() which can be used without a socket.

While we are at it, add a minimum frag size of 32 for
sk_page_frag_refill()

Michael will either use netdev_alloc_frag() from softirq context,
or skb_page_frag_refill() from process context in refill_work()
 (GFP_KERNEL allocations)

David S. Miller 4fbef95af4 Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net
Conflicts:
	drivers/net/ethernet/emulex/benet/be.h
	drivers/net/usb/qmi_wwan.c
	drivers/net/wireless/brcm80211/brcmfmac/dhd_bus.h
	include/net/netfilter/nf_conntrack_synproxy.h
	include/net/secure_seq.h

The conflicts are of two varieties:

1) Conflicts with Joe Perches's 'extern' removal from header file
function declarations. Usually it's an argument signature change
or a function being added/removed. The resolutions are trivial.

2) Some overlapping changes in qmi_wwan.c and be.h, one commit adds
a new value, another changes an existing value. That sort of
   thing.

bnx2x makes a dangerous use of skb_is_gso_v6().

It should first make sure skb is a gso packet

Joe Perches 7965bd4d71 net.h/skbuff.h: Remove extern from function prototypes
There are a mix of function prototypes with and without extern
in the kernel sources. Standardize on not using extern for
function prototypes.

Function prototypes don't need to be written with extern.
extern is assumed by the compiler. Its use is as unnecessary as
using auto to declare automatic/local variables in a block.
