Here is the bit set of char/misc drivers for 4.19-rc1
 
 There is a lot here, much more than normal, seems like everyone is
 writing new driver subsystems these days...  Anyway, major things here
 are:
 	- new FSI driver subsystem, yet-another-powerpc low-level
 	  hardware bus
 	- gnss, finally an in-kernel GPS subsystem to try to tame all of
 	  the crazy out-of-tree drivers that have been floating around
 	  for years, combined with some really hacky userspace
 	  implementations.  This is only for GNSS receivers, but you
 	  have to start somewhere, and this is great to see.
 Other than that, there are new slimbus drivers, new coresight drivers,
 new fpga drivers, and loads of DT bindings for all of these and existing
 drivers.
 
 Full details of everything is in the shortlog.
 
 All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported

Chen-Yu Tsai 384cf4285b Input: i8042 - add Lenovo LaVie Z to the i8042 reset list
The Lenovo LaVie Z laptop requires i8042 to be reset in order to
consistently detect its Elantech touchpad. The nomux and kbdreset
quirks are not sufficient.

It's possible the other LaVie Z models from NEC require this as well.

Janusz Krzysztofik a617b36bbc Input: ams_delta_serio: use IRQ resource
The driver still obtains IRQ number from a hardcoded GPIO.  Use IRQ
resource instead.

For this to work on Amstrad Delta, add the IRQ resource to
ams-delta-serio platform device structure.  Obtain the IRQ number
assigned to "keybrd_clk" GPIO pin from FIQ initialization routine.

As a benefit, the driver no longer needs to include
<mach/board-ams-delta.h>.

made local to mach-omap1 root directory.

Janusz Krzysztofik a32d5ce1db ARM: OMAP1: ams-delta FIQ: Keep serio input GPIOs requested
From the very beginning, input GPIO pins of ams-delta serio port have
been used by FIQ handler, not serio driver.

Don't request those pins from the ams-delta-serio driver any longer,
instead keep them requested and initialized by the FIQ initialization
routine which already requests them and releases while identifying GPIO
IRQs.

"keybrd_dataout" GPIO pin used to be initialized by ams-delta-serio
driver to a state safe for ams-delta-serio device function and not
changed thereafter.  As such, it may be assumed not under the driver
control and responsibility for its initialization handed over to board
init file.

Introduce a GPIO hog table and take over control of the
"keybrd_dataout" GPIO pin from the ams-delta-serio driver.

Janusz Krzysztofik 2bcb1be092 Input: ams_delta_serio: Replace power GPIO with regulator
Modify the driver so it no longer requests and manipulates the
"keybrd_pwr" GPIO pin but a "vcc" regulator supply instead.

For this to work with Amstrad Delta, define a regulator over the
"keybrd_pwr" GPIO pin with the "vcc" supply for ams-delta-serio device
and register it from the board file.  Both assign an absulute GPIO
number to the soon depreciated .gpio member of the regulator config
structure, and also build and register a GPIO lookup table so it is
ready for use by the regulator driver as soon as its upcoming update
is applied.

Ondrej Zary 04bb1719c4 Input: i8042 - enable MUX on Sony VAIO VGN-CS series to fix touchpad
The touch sensor buttons on Sony VAIO VGN-CS series laptops (e.g.
VGN-CS31S) are a separate PS/2 device. As the MUX is disabled for all
VAIO machines by the nomux blacklist, the data from touch sensor
buttons and touchpad are combined. The protocol used by the buttons is
probably similar to the touchpad protocol (both are Synaptics) so both
devices get enabled. The controller combines the data, creating a mess
which results in random button clicks, touchpad stopping working and
lost sync error messages:

Dennis Wassenberg b56af54ac7 Input: i8042 - add Lenovo ThinkPad L460 to i8042 reset list
Reset i8042 before probing because of insufficient BIOS initialisation of
the i8042 serial controller. This makes Synaptics touchpad detection
possible. Without resetting the Synaptics touchpad is not detected because
there are always NACK messages from AUX port.

NOTE! On almost all architectures, the EPOLL* constants have the same
values as the POLL* constants do.  But they keyword here is "almost".
For various bad reasons they aren't the same, and epoll() doesn't
actually work quite correctly in some cases due to this on Sparc et al.

The next patch from Al will sort out the final differences, and we
should be all done.

Dmitry Torokhov 29acc42e8e Input: libps2 - relax command byte ACK handling
When we probe PS/2 devices we first issue "Get ID" command and only if we
receive what we consider a valid keyboard or mouse ID we disable the device
and continue with protocol detection. That means that the device may be
transmitting motion or keystroke data, while we expect ACK response.

Instead of signaling failure if we see anything but ACK/NAK let's ignore
"garbage" response until we see ACK for the command byte (first byte). The
checks for subsequent ACKs of command parameters will continue be strict.

The devices are allowed to respond to either command byte or command
parameter with a NAK (0xfe), and the host is supposed to resend the
"correct" byte. The device then will either respond with ACK or ERR (0xfc).
Let's teach libps2 to handle the NAK responses properly, so that individual
drivers do not need to handle them.

Debugging via i8042.debug and analyzing raw PS/2 data stream may be
cumbersome as you need to locate the boundaries of commands, decipher the
sliced commands, etc, etc. Let's add a bit more high level debug statements
for ps2_sendbyte(), ps2_command(), and ps2_sliced_command().

We do not introduce a new module parameter, but rater rely on the kernel
having dynamic debug facility enabled (which most everyone has nowadays).
Enable with:

echo "file libps2.c +pf" > /sys/kernel/debug/dynamic_debug/control

or add "libps2.dyndbg=+pf" to the kernel command line.

Instead of using unsigned char for the byte data switch to using u8. Also
use unsigned int for the command codes and timeouts, and have
ps2_handle_ack() and ps2_handle_response() return bool instead of int, as
they do not return error codes but rather signal whether a byte was handled
or not handled. ps2_is_keyboard_id() now returns bool as well.

struct timeval is not y2038 safe, and what mlc->instart do is
scheduling a task in a fixed timeout, so jiffies is the
simplest choice here.

In hilse_donode(), the expires in mod_timer equals

	jiffies + intimeout - (now - instart)

If we use jiffies in 'now', the expires equals

	instart + intimeout

So, all we need to do is that making sure expires is a future
timestamp before passed it to mod_timer.

Greg Kroah-Hartman b24413180f License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier.  The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
 - file had no licensing information it it.
 - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
 - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne.  Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed.  Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
 - Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
 - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
   lines of source
 - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
   lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

 - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
   considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
   COPYING file license applied.

   For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

 - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
   license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
   licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

 - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
   resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
   which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

 - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
   confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

 - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
   the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
   in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights.  The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
 - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
   license ids and scores
 - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
   files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
 - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
   was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
   SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction.  This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg.  Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected.  This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.)  Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

Danilo Krummrich 9ee0a05588 Input: PS/2 gpio bit banging driver for serio bus
This driver provides PS/2 serio bus support by implementing bit banging
with the GPIO API. The GPIO pins, data and clock, can be configured with
a node in the device tree or by generic device properties (GDP).

Writing to a device is supported as well, though it is possible timings
can not be halt as they are tough and difficult to reach with bit banging.
Therefore it can be configured (also in DT and GDP) whether the serio
write function should be available for clients.

This driver is for development purposes and not recommended for productive
use. However, this driver can be useful e.g. when no USB port is available
or using old peripherals is desired as PS/2 controller chips getting rare.

This driver was tested on bcm2825 and on Kirin 960 and it worked well
together with the atkbd and psmouse driver.

Dmitry Torokhov 5ea1320653 Input: serio - add fast reconnect option
Devices connected to serio bus are quite slow, and to improve apparent
speed of resume process, serio core resumes (reconnects) its devices
asynchronously, by posting port reconnect requests to a workqueue.
Unfortunately this means that if there is a dependent device of a given
serio port (for example SMBus part of touchpad connected via both PS/2 and
SMBus), we do not have a good way of ensuring resume order.

This change allows drivers to define "fast reconnect" handlers that would
be called in-line during system resume. Drivers need to ensure that these
handlers are truly "fast".

Guenter Roeck f20b161f59 Input: serio - drop unnecessary calls to device_init_wakeup
Calling device_init_wakeup in the remove function is unnecessary since the
device is going away, and thus won't be able to cause any wakeups under any
circumstances. Besides, the driver cleanup code already handles the
necessary cleanup.

Similarly, disabling wakeup in the probe error path is unnecessary, as is
disabling wakeup in the probe function in the first place.

Dmitry Torokhov d79e141c1c Input: i8042 - Trust firmware a bit more when probing on X86
The error message "Can't read CTR while initializing i8042" appears on
Cherry Trail-based devices at each boot time:

  i8042: PNP: No PS/2 controller found. Probing ports directly.
  i8042: Can't read CTR while initializing i8042
  i8042: probe of i8042 failed with error -5

This happens because we historically do not trust firmware on X86 and,
while noting that PNP does not show keyboard or mouse devices, we still
charge ahead and try to probe the controller. Let's relax this a bit and if
results of PNP probe agree with the results of platform
initialization/quirks conclude that there is, in fact, no i8042.

While at it, let's avoid using x86_platform.i8042_detect() and instead
abort execution early if platform indicates that it can not possibly have
i8042 (x86_platform.legacy.i8042 equals X86_LEGACY_I8042_PLATFORM_ABSENT).

Dmitry Torokhov 1a9027770f Input: i8042 - force synchronous probing of PNP drivers
We rely on the result of scanning PNP bus for keyboard and mouse devices to
decide whether we should continue initialization of i8042 driver or not, so
the probes can not be asynchronous.

Also, it is not a good idea to unbind either of the PNP devices while i8042
is running, so let's disable bind/unbind for the PNP drivers through sysfs
and rely on i8042 cleaning after itself properly. User can still unbind and
rebind entire i8042 and that will take care of PNP drivers as well.

Marcos Paulo de Souza 930e19248e Input: i8042 - skip selftest on ASUS laptops
On suspend/resume cycle, selftest is executed to reset i8042 controller.
But when this is done in Asus devices, subsequent calls to detect/init
functions to elantech driver fails. Skipping selftest fixes this problem.

An easier step to reproduce this problem is adding i8042.reset=1 as a
kernel parameter. On Asus laptops, it'll make the system to start with the
touchpad already stuck, since psmouse_probe forcibly calls the selftest
function.

This patch was inspired by John Hiesey's change[1], but, since this problem
affects a lot of models of Asus, let's avoid running selftests on them.

Hans Verkuil 51db013767 Input: serio - add hangup support
The Pulse-Eight USB CEC adapter is a usb device that shows up as a ttyACM0
device.  It requires that you run inputattach in order to communicate with
it via serio.

This all works well, but it would be nice to have a udev rule to
automatically start inputattach. That too works OK, but the problem comes
when the USB device is unplugged: the tty hangup is never handled by the
serio framework so the inputattach utility never exits and you have to kill
it manually.

By adding this hangup callback the inputattach utility now properly exits
as soon as the USB device is unplugged.

The udev rule I used on my Debian sid system is:

have a hard load dependency between i8042 and atkbd which prevents
keyboard from working on Gen2 Hyper-V VMs.

To break the dependency we move away from using i8042_check_port_owner()

Grygorii Strashko 015bb5e134 Input: serio - drop warnings in case of EPROBE_DEFER from serio_find_driver()
Now serio_find_driver() will print warnings in case device_attach()
returns -EPROBE_DEFER. Those warnings are obsolete, in genral, because:
- DD core can report the same if required
- since commit 013c074f86 ("PM / sleep: prohibit devices probing
during suspend/hibernation") the devices probing is prohibited during
System suspend and deferred device will be carefully reprobed once
Resume is finished.

Hence, drop warnings in case of EPROBE_DEFER from serio_find_driver().
