ASoC: mpc5200_psc_i2s: Fix invalid license ID
As the file had no other license notice/reference, it falls under the
project license and therefore the proper SPDX id is: GPL-2.0-only

ASoC: imx: fix fiq dependencies
During randconfig builds, I occasionally run into an invalid configuration
of the freescale FIQ sound support:

WARNING: unmet direct dependencies detected for SND_SOC_IMX_PCM_FIQ
  Depends on [m]: SOUND [=y] && !UML && SND [=y] && SND_SOC [=y] && SND_IMX_SOC [=m]
  Selected by [y]:
  - SND_SOC_FSL_SPDIF [=y] && SOUND [=y] && !UML && SND [=y] && SND_SOC [=y] && SND_IMX_SOC [=m]!=n && (MXC_TZIC [=n] || MXC_AVIC [=y])

sound/soc/fsl/imx-ssi.o: In function `imx_ssi_remove':
imx-ssi.c:(.text+0x28): undefined reference to `imx_pcm_fiq_exit'
sound/soc/fsl/imx-ssi.o: In function `imx_ssi_probe':
imx-ssi.c:(.text+0xa64): undefined reference to `imx_pcm_fiq_init'

The Kconfig warning is a result of the symbol being defined inside of
the "if SND_IMX_SOC" block, and is otherwise harmless. The link error
is more tricky and happens with SND_SOC_IMX_SSI=y, which may or may not
imply FIQ support. However, if SND_SOC_FSL_SSI is set to =m at the same
time, that selects SND_SOC_IMX_PCM_FIQ as a loadable module dependency,
which then causes a link failure from imx-ssi.

The solution here is to make SND_SOC_IMX_PCM_FIQ built-in whenever
one of its potential users is built-in.

ASoC: fsl_sai: Add missing return 0 in remove()
Build warning being reported:

sound/soc/fsl/fsl_sai.c:921:1: warning: no return statement in

ASoC: fsl_sai: Update is_slave_mode with correct value
is_slave_mode defaults to false because sai structure
that contains it is kzalloc'ed.

Anyhow, if we decide to set the following configuration
SAI slave -> SAI master, is_slave_mode will remain set on true
although SAI being master it should be set to false.

Fix this by updating is_slave_mode for each call of
fsl_sai_set_dai_fmt.

ASoC: fsl_esai: fix channel swap issue when stream starts
There is very low possibility ( < 0.1% ) that channel swap happened
in beginning when multi output/input pin is enabled. The issue is
that hardware can't send data to correct pin in the beginning with
the normal enable flow.

This is hardware issue, but there is no errata, the workaround flow
is that: Each time playback/recording, firstly clear the xSMA/xSMB,
then enable TE/RE, then enable xSMB and xSMA (xSMB must be enabled
before xSMA). Which is to use the xSMA as the trigger start register,
previously the xCR_TE or xCR_RE is the bit for starting.

Mark Brown f557d39a3c ASoC: Fixes for v5.0
Quite a big batch of fixes here. There's a couple of things going on,
the main one is that we found some issues with not deferring probe when
we should, causing us to skip some driver initialization. The fixes for
this then in turn exposed some issues with how we were searching for
components which had previously gone unnoticed due to the original
 issue.

There's also been the normal driver specific stuff and there's been what
looks like several batches of automated scanning for issues which have
generated quite a large set of smaller fixes for potential crashes and
 missed error handling.

ASoC: Fixes for v5.0

Quite a big batch of fixes here. There's a couple of things going on,
the main one is that we found some issues with not deferring probe when
we should, causing us to skip some driver initialization. The fixes for
this then in turn exposed some issues with how we were searching for
components which had previously gone unnoticed due to the original
issue.

There's also been the normal driver specific stuff and there's been what
looks like several batches of automated scanning for issues which have
generated quite a large set of smaller fixes for potential crashes and
missed error handling.

ASoC: fsl_sai: Remove expensive print in irq handler
When stopping audio, ASoC will first stop DMA then CPU DAI.
Sometimes there is a delay between DMA stop and CPU DAI stop, which
triggers an underrun error. Now, because of the delay introduced
by dev_err another underrun error will occur causing a vicious circle
making impossible to stop CPU DAI.

Probe deferral is to be expected during normal operation, so avoid

Removing the goto would not be strictly necessary. However, if

ASoC: imx-audmux: change snprintf to scnprintf for possible overflow
Change snprintf to scnprintf. There are generally two cases where using
snprintf causes problems.

1) Uses of size += snprintf(buf, SIZE - size, fmt, ...)
In this case, if snprintf would have written more characters than what the
buffer size (SIZE) is, then size will end up larger than SIZE. In later
uses of snprintf, SIZE - size will result in a negative number, leading
to problems. Note that size might already be too large by using
size = snprintf before the code reaches a case of size += snprintf.

2) If size is ultimately used as a length parameter for a copy back to user
space, then it will potentially allow for a buffer overflow and information
disclosure when size is greater than SIZE. When the size is used to index
the buffer directly, we can have memory corruption. This also means when
size = snprintf... is used, it may also cause problems since size may become
large. Copying to userspace is mitigated by the HARDENED_USERCOPY kernel
configuration.

The solution to these issues is to use scnprintf which returns the number of
characters actually written to the buffer, so the size variable will never
exceed SIZE.

at test cases when switching between mono and stereo audio.

The problem is that ssi->i2s_net is initialized in set_dai_fmt()
only, while this set_dai_fmt() is only called during the dai-link
probe(). The original patch assumed set_dai_fmt() would be called
during every playback instance, so it failed at the overriding use
cases.

This patch adds the local variable i2s_net back to let regular use
cases still follow the mode settings from the set_dai_fmt().

Meanwhile, the original commit of keeping ssi->i2s_net updated was
to make set_tdm_slot() clean by checking the ssi->i2s_net directly
instead of reading SCR register. However, the change itself is not
necessary (or even harmful) because the set_tdm_slot() might fail
to check the slot number for Normal-Mode-None-Net settings while
mono audio cases still need 2 slots. So this patch can also fix it.
And it adds an extra line of comments to declare ssi->i2s_net does
not reflect the register value but merely the initial setting from
the set_dai_fmt().

ASoC: fsl_esai: Fix divisor calculation failure at lower ratio
When the desired ratio is less than 256, the savesub (tolerance)
in the calculation would become 0. This will then fail the loop-
search immediately without reporting any errors.

But if the ratio is smaller enough, there is no need to calculate
the tolerance because PM divisor alone is enough to get the ratio.

So a simple fix could be just to set PM directly instead of going
into the loop-search.

AC97 configures most of registers earlier to start a communication
with CODECs in order to successfully initialize CODEC. Currently,
_fsl_ssi_set_dai_fmt() and fsl_ssi_setup_ac97() are called to get
all SSI registers properly set.

Since now the driver has a fsl_ssi_hw_init() to handle all register
initial settings, this patch moves those register settings of AC97
to the fsl_ssi_hw_init() as well.

Meanwhile it applies _fsl_ssi_set_dai_fmt() call to AC97 only since
other formats would be configured via normal set_dai_fmt() directly.

This patch also adds fsl_ssi_hw_clean() to cleanup control bits for

However, the whole routine, especially fsl_ssi_config() function,
is too complicated because of the folowing reasons:
1) It has to handle the concern of the opposite stream.
2) It has to handle cases of offline configurations support.
3) It has to handle enable and disable operations while they're
   mostly different.

Since the enable and disable routines have more differences than
TX and RX rountines, this patch simplifies these helper functions

- Changing to two helper functions of enable and disable instead

- Removing fsl_ssi_rxtx_config() by separately integrating it to

The define of fsl_ssi_disable_val is not so clear as it mixes two

use something like ssi_excl_shared_bits.

will also help further cleanups.

Meanwhile, it unifies all local variable with the name "vals"

ASoC: eukrea-tlv320: Remove include line of fsl_ssi.h
The machine driver links both imx-ssi (legacy non-DT driver) and
fsl_ssi (up-to-date DT based driver). So It also includes both

for two header files -- they can't define anything with identical
names.

Since the eukrea-tlv320 machine driver now does not really need
anything being defined in the fsl_ssi header file, and it's also
going to take some time to clean up two SSI drivers, this patch
takes a quick way to remove the #include fsl_ssi.h line for now.
It can be added back once the header files are done refactoring.

ASoC: fsl_ssi: add 20-bit sample format for AC'97 and use it for capture
When testing AC'97 capture on UDOO board (currently the only user of
fsl_ssi driver in the AC'97 mode) it become obvious that there is a massive
distortion above certain, small input signal.

This problem has been traced to silicon errata ERR003778:
"In AC97, 16-bit mode, received data is shifted by 4-bit locations" that
has "No fix scheduled".
This errata suggests a workaround of doing a 4-bit shift back in SDMA
script for this specific operation mode, however our SDMA scripts are
shared between various SoC peripherals so we can't really modify them.

There is a simple way to avoid this problem, however, that is to disallow
recording in 16-bit mode and only support it in AC'97-native 20-bit mode.
We have to use a 4-byte format for this since SSI FIFOs do not allow 3-byte
accesses (and these aren't supported by imx-sdma driver anyway).
With this change the capture distortion is gone.

We can also add this format as an additional one supported for playback,
using this opportunity to make sure that we use CPU-endian-native formats
in AC'97 mode as we already do in I2S mode.

There is no problem in using different bit widths in playback and capture
in AC'97 mode so allow this, too.

ASoC: fsl_ssi: only enable proper channel slots in AC'97 mode
We need to make sure that only proper channel slots (in SACCST register)
are enabled at playback start time since some AC'97 CODECs (like VT1613 on
UDOO board) were observed requesting via SLOTREQ spurious ones just after
an AC'97 link is started but before the CODEC is configured by its driver.
When a bit for some channel slot is set in a SLOTREQ request then SSI sets
the relevant bit in SACCST automatically, which then 'sticks' until it is
manually unset.
The SACCST register is not writable directly, we have to use SACCDIS and
SACCEN registers to configure it instead (these aren't normal registers:
writing a '1' bit at some position in SACCEN sets the relevant bit in
SACCST; SACCDIS operates in a similar way but allows unsetting bits in
SACCST).

Theoretically, this should be necessary only for the very first playback
but since some CODECs are so untrustworthy and extra channel slots enabled
mean ruined playback let's play safe here and make sure that no extra
slots are enabled in SACCST every time a playback is started.

Greg Kroah-Hartman b24413180f License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
 - file had no licensing information it it.
 - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
 - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
 - Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
 - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
   lines of source
 - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
   lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

 - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
   COPYING file license applied.

For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 11139

and resulted in the first patch in this series.

If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930

and resulted in the second patch in this series.

 - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
   GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
   LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
   GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
   ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
   LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
   LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1

and that resulted in the third patch in this series.

 - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
   the concluded license(s).

 - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

 - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

 - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

 - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
   in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
 - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
   license ids and scores
 - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
 - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
   SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

Nicolin Chen b0a7043d5c ASoC: fsl_ssi: Caculate bit clock rate using slot number and width
The set_sysclk() now is used to override the output bit clock rate.
But this is not a common way to implement a set_dai_sysclk(). And
this creates a problem when a general machine driver (simple-card
for example) tries to do set_dai_sysclk() by passing an input clock
rate for the baud clock instead of setting the bit clock rate as
fsl_ssi driver expected.

So this patch solves this problem by firstly removing set_sysclk()
since the hw_params() can calculate the bit clock rate. Secondly,
in order not to break those TDM use cases which previously might
have been using set_sysclk() to override the bit clock rate, this
patch changes the driver to calculate the bit clock rate using the
slot number and the slot width from the via set_tdm_slot().

The patch also removes an obsolete comment of the dir parameter.

Arnd Bergmann 245c5c7b08 ASoC: fix ES8328_I2C/SPI dependencies
The two front-ends to the codec can now be selected individually, but fail to

sound/built-in.o: In function `es8328_spi_driver_init':
es8328-spi.c:(.init.text+0x3589): undefined reference to `__spi_register_driver'

Related to this, the added dependency on SND_SOC_ES8328 breaks:

warning: (SND_SOC_ALL_CODECS) selects SND_SOC_ES8328_I2C which has unmet direct dependencies (SOUND && !M68K && !UML && SND && SND_SOC && SND_SOC_ES8328 && I2C)

This adds the respective Kconfig dependencies and changes SND_SOC_ES8328 to a hidden
symbol that is selected implicitly by the two more specific options, as we do for
some other codecs. We have to remove the 'depends on' for SND_SOC_IMX_ES8328 in the
same step to avoid a recursive dependency.

Caleb Crome 4ee437fbf6 ASoC: fsl_ssi: set fifo watermark to more reliable value
The fsl_ssi fifo watermark is by default set to 2 free spaces (i.e.
activate DMA on FIFO when only 2 spaces are left.) This means the
DMA must service the fifo within 2 audio samples, which is just not
enough time for many use cases with high data rate. In many
configurations the audio channel slips (causing l/r swap in stereo
configurations, or channel slipping in multi-channel configurations).

This patch gives more breathing room and allows the SSI to operate
reliably by changing the fifio refill watermark to 8.

There is no change in behavior for older chips (with an 8-deep fifo).
Only the newer chips with a 15-deep fifo get the new behavior. I
suspect a new fifo depth setting could be optimized on the older
chips too, but I have not tested.

This driver provides no .reg_defaults_raw in regmap_config, so
the .num_reg_defaults_raw is useless, and, in fact harmful. It
triggers kernel crash in regmap_init which tries to access the

the following settings are recommended:
...
- TX Frame Rate should be 2 i.e. (STCCR[12:8] = 1)
- RX Frame Rate should be 2 i.e. (SRCCR[12:8] = 1)

Chapter 56.3.3.12 SSI Transmit and Receive Clock Control Registers (STCCR & SRCCR)
...
Bits 12-8 DC4-DC0
Frame Rate Divider Control. These bits are used to control the divide ratio
for the programmable frame rate dividers. The divide ratio works on the word
clock. In Normal mode, this ratio determines the word transfer rate.
In Network mode, this ratio sets the number of words per frame. The divide
ratio ranges from 1 to 32 in Normal mode and from 2 to 32 in Network mode.
In Normal mode, a divide ratio of 1 (DC=00000) provides continuous periodic
data word transfer. A bit-length frame sync must be used in this case.

Function fsl_ssi_hw_params() setup Normal mode for MONO output,
so with DC=0, SSI enters to continuous periodic data word transfer.
To fix this, setup DC for any I2S mode.
Patch has tested on custom board based on Digi CCMX-51 module (i.MX51).

Caleb Crome 3cc6185bcc ASoC: fsl_ssi: add CCSR_SSI_SOR to volatile register list
The CCSR_SSI_SOR is a register that clears the TX and/or the RX fifo
on the i.MX SSI port. The fsl_ssi_trigger writes this register in
order to clear the fifo at trigger time.

However, since the CCSR_SSI_SOR register is not in the volatile list,
the caching mechanism prevented the register write in the trigger
function. This caused the fifo to not be cleared (because the value
was unchanged from the last time the register was written), and thus
causes the channels in both TDM or simple I2S mode to slip and be in
the wrong time slots on SSI restart.

This has gone unnoticed for so long because with simple stereo mode,
the consequence is that left and right are swapped, which isn't that
noticeable. However, it's catestrophic in some systems that
require the channels to be in the right slots.

Luis R. Rodriguez f6e45661f9 dma, mm/pat: Rename dma_*_writecombine() to dma_*_wc()
Rename dma_*_writecombine() to dma_*_wc(), so that the naming
is coherent across the various write-combining APIs. Keep the
old names for compatibility for a while, these can be removed
at a later time. A guard is left to enable backporting of the
rename, and later remove of the old mapping defines seemlessly.

Build tested successfully with allmodconfig.

The following Coccinelle SmPL patch was used for this simple
transformation:

@ rename_dma_alloc_writecombine @
expression dev, size, dma_addr, gfp;
@@

-dma_alloc_writecombine(dev, size, dma_addr, gfp)
+dma_alloc_wc(dev, size, dma_addr, gfp)

@ rename_dma_free_writecombine @
expression dev, size, cpu_addr, dma_addr;
@@

-dma_free_writecombine(dev, size, cpu_addr, dma_addr)
+dma_free_wc(dev, size, cpu_addr, dma_addr)

@ rename_dma_mmap_writecombine @
expression dev, vma, cpu_addr, dma_addr, size;
@@

-dma_mmap_writecombine(dev, vma, cpu_addr, dma_addr, size)
+dma_mmap_wc(dev, vma, cpu_addr, dma_addr, size)

We also keep the old names as compatibility helpers, and
guard against their definition to make backporting easier.

Maciej S. Szmigiero 6139b1b184 ASoC: fsl_ssi: remove explicit register defaults
There is no guarantee that on fsl_ssi module load
SSI registers will have their power-on-reset values.

In fact, if the driver is reloaded the values in
registers will be whatever they were set to previously.

However, the cache needs to be fully populated at probe
time to avoid non-atomic allocations during register
access.

Special case here is imx21-class SSI, since
according to datasheet it don't have SACC{ST,EN,DIS}
regs.

This fixes hard lockup on fsl_ssi module reload,
at least in AC'97 mode.

Nicolin Chen 089dfaf7f7 ASoC: fsl-asoc-card: Don't add DAPM routes for ASRC if it doesn't exist
There are a pair of warnings when ASRC is absent in the DTB:
fsl-asoc-card sound: ASoC: no source widget found for ASRC-Playback
  fsl-asoc-card sound: ASoC: Failed to add route ASRC-Playback -> direct -> CPU-Playback
fsl-asoc-card sound: ASoC: no sink widget found for ASRC-Capture
  fsl-asoc-card sound: ASoC: Failed to add route CPU-Capture -> direct -> ASRC-Capture

This is because the driver is still trying to add DAPM routes for ASRC
even if it doesn't exist on that platform.

The warnings are harmless but it might be annoying. So this patch drops
the DAPM routes of ASRC when it's absent in the DAI link.

Lars-Peter Clausen 9954859185 ASoC: imx-spdif: Fix crash on suspend
When registering a ASoC card the driver data of the parent device is set to
point to the card. This driver data is used in the
snd_soc_suspend()/resume() callbacks.

The imx-spdif driver overwrites the driver data with custom data which
causes snd_soc_suspend() to crash. Since the custom driver is not used
anywhere simply deleting the line which sets the custom driver data fixes
the issue.

After several open/close sai test with ctrl+c, there will be
I/O error. The SAI can't work anymore, can't recover. There
will be no frame clock. With adding the software reset in
trigger stop, the issue can be fixed.

This is a hardware bug/errata and reset is the only option.

According to the reference manual, the software reset doesn't
reset any control register but only internal hardware logics
such as bit clock generator, status flags, and FIFO pointers.
(Our purpose is just to reset the clock generator while the
software reset is the only way to do that.)

Since slave mode doesn't use the clock generator, only apply
the reset procedure to the master mode.

For asynchronous mode, TX will not be reset when RX is still
running. In this case, i can't reproduce this issue.

Zidan Wang 51659ca069 ASoC: fsl-sai: set xCR4/xCR5/xMR for SAI master mode
For SAI master mode, when Tx(Rx) sync with Rx(Tx) clock, Rx(Tx) will
generate bclk and frame clock for Tx(Rx), we should set RCR4(TCR4),
RCR5(TCR5) and RMR(TMR) for playback(capture), or there will be sync
error sometimes.
