Thomas Huth f5b474deca s390/configs: change CONFIG_VIRTIO_CONSOLE to "m"
In former times, the virtio-console code had to be compiled into
the kernel since the old guest virtio transport had some hard de-
pendencies. But since the old virtio transport has been removed in
commit 7fb2b2d512 ("s390/virtio: remove the old KVM virtio transport"),
we do not have this limitation anymore.
Commit bb533ec8ba ("s390/config: do not select VIRTIO_CONSOLE via
Kconfig") then also lifted the hard setting in the Kconfig system, so
we can finally switch the CONFIG_VIRTIO_CONSOLE knob to compile this
driver as a module now, making it more flexible for the user to only
load it if it is really required.

Niklas Schnelle f53a63667b s390/configs: enable CONFIG_PCI_IOV
All major distributions ship with CONFIG_PCI_IOV=y so let us enable it
for our defconfigs as well.

Note also that since commit e5794cf1a2 ("s390/pci: create links
between PFs and VFs") we enabled proper linking between PFs and their
associated VFs so with this commit and its fixes applied we can fully
support handling SR-IOV enabled PFs.

Vineeth Vijayan a4f17cc726 s390/cio: add CRW inject functionality
This patch introduces the mechanism to inject artificial events to the
CIO layer.

One of the main-event type which triggers the CommonIO operations are
Channel Report events. When a malfunction or other condition affecting
channel-subsystem operation is recognized, a Channel Report Word
(consisting of one or more CRWs) describing the condition is made
pending for retrieval and analysis by the program. The CRW contains
information concerning the identity and state of a facility following
the detection of the malfunction or other condition.

The patch introduces two debugfs interfaces which can be used to inject
'artificial' events from the userspace. It is intended to provide an easy
means to increase the test coverage for CIO code. And this functionality
can be enabled via a new configuration option CONFIG_CIO_INJECT.

The newly introduces debugfs interfaces can be used as mentioned below
to generate different fake-events. To use the crw_inject, first we should
enable it by using enable_inject interface.
i.e

echo 1 > /sys/kernel/debug/s390/cio/enable_inject

After the first step, user can simulate CRW as follows:

echo <solicited> <overflow> <chaining> <rsc> <ancillary> <erc> <rsid> \
                               > /sys/kernel/debug/s390/cio/crw_inject

Example:
A permanent error ERC on CHPID 0x60 would look like this:

  echo 0 0 0 4 0 6 0x60 > /sys/kernel/debug/s390/cio/crw_inject

and an initialized ERC on the same CHPID:

  echo 0 0 0 4 0 2 0x60 > /sys/kernel/debug/s390/cio/crw_inject

Sven Schnelle 56e62a7370 s390: convert to generic entry
This patch converts s390 to use the generic entry infrastructure from
kernel/entry/*.

There are a few special things on s390:

- PIF_PER_TRAP is moved to TIF_PER_TRAP as the generic code doesn't
know about our PIF flags in exit_to_user_mode_loop().

- The old code had several ways to restart syscalls:

  a) PIF_SYSCALL_RESTART, which was only set during execve to force a
restart after upgrading a process (usually qemu-kvm) to pgste page
     table extensions.

  b) PIF_SYSCALL, which is set by do_signal() to indicate that the
current syscall should be restarted. This is changed so that
do_signal() now also uses PIF_SYSCALL_RESTART. Continuing to use
PIF_SYSCALL doesn't work with the generic code, and changing it
     to PIF_SYSCALL_RESTART makes PIF_SYSCALL and PIF_SYSCALL_RESTART
     more unique.

- On s390 calling sys_sigreturn or sys_rt_sigreturn is implemented by
executing a svc instruction on the process stack which causes a fault.
While handling that fault the fault code sets PIF_SYSCALL to hand over
processing to the syscall code on exit to usermode.

The patch introduces PIF_SYSCALL_RET_SET, which is set if ptrace sets
a return value for a syscall. The s390x ptrace ABI uses r2 both for the
syscall number and return value, so ptrace cannot set the syscall number +
return value at the same time. The flag makes handling that a bit easier.
do_syscall() will just skip executing the syscall if PIF_SYSCALL_RET_SET
is set.

CONFIG_DEBUG_ASCE was removd in favour of the generic CONFIG_DEBUG_ENTRY.
CR1/7/13 will be checked both on kernel entry and exit to contain the
correct asces.

John Hubbard 9c84f22926 mm/gup_benchmark: rename to mm/gup_test
Patch series "selftests/vm: gup_test, hmm-tests, assorted improvements", v3.

Summary: This series provides two main things, and a number of smaller
supporting goodies. The two main points are:

1) Add a new sub-test to gup_test, which in turn is a renamed version
of gup_benchmark. This sub-test allows nicer testing of dump_pages(),
   at least on user-space pages.

For quite a while, I was doing a quick hack to gup_test.c whenever I
wanted to try out changes to dump_page(). Then Matthew Wilcox asked me
what I meant when I said "I used my dump_page() unit test", and I
realized that it might be nice to check in a polished up version of
   that.

Details about how it works and how to use it are in the commit
description for patch #6 ("selftests/vm: gup_test: introduce the
   dump_pages() sub-test").

2) Fixes a limitation of hmm-tests: these tests are incredibly useful,
but only if people actually build and run them. And it turns out that
libhugetlbfs is a little too effective at throwing a wrench in the
works, there. So I've added a little configuration check that removes
just two of the 21 hmm-tests, if libhugetlbfs is not available.

Further details in the commit description of patch #8
("selftests/vm: hmm-tests: remove the libhugetlbfs dependency").

Other smaller things that this series does:

a) Remove code duplication by creating gup_test.h.

b) Clear up the sub-test organization, and their invocation within
   run_vmtests.sh.

c) Other minor assorted improvements.

[1] v2 is here:
https://lore.kernel.org/linux-doc/20200929212747.251804-1-jhubbard@nvidia.com/

[2] https://lore.kernel.org/r/CAHk-=wgh-TMPHLY3jueHX7Y2fWh3D+nMBqVS__AZm6-oorquWA@mail.gmail.com

This patch (of 9):

Rename nearly every "gup_benchmark" reference and file name to "gup_test".
The one exception is for the actual gup benchmark test itself.

The current code already does a *little* bit more than benchmarking, and
definitely covers more than get_user_pages_fast(). More importantly,
however, subsequent patches are about to add some functionality that is
non-benchmark related.

Closely related changes:

* Kconfig: in addition to renaming the options from GUP_BENCHMARK to
GUP_TEST, update the help text to reflect that it's no longer a
  benchmark-only test.

Heiko Carstens 062e527956 s390/mm: add debug user asce support
Verify on exit to user space that always

Heiko Carstens 08c8e685c7 s390: add ARCH_HAS_DEBUG_WX support
Checks the whole kernel address space for W+X mappings. Note that
currently the first lowcore page unfortunately has to be mapped
W+X. Therefore this not reported as an insecure mapping.

For the very same reason the wording is also different to other
architectures if the test passes:

On s390 it is "no unexpected W+X pages found" instead of
"no W+X pages found".

Heiko Carstens d1523a8f4b s390: replace defconfig with performance_defconfig
Replace defconfig with performance_defconfig. defconfig had some more
or less random debug options enabled, where nobody knows why anymore.

Just remove the old defconfig and replace it with performance_defconfig,
which reduces the number of configs to maintain. A config with debugging
options enabled is debug_defconfig which is supposed to be rather close
to performance_defconfig except that is has debug options enabled.

Masahiro Yamada e949f4c2d6 kbuild: add CONFIG_HEADERS_INSTALL and loosen the dependency of samples
Commit 5318321d36 ("samples: disable CONFIG_SAMPLES for UML") used
a big hammer to fix the build errors under the samples/ directory.
Only some samples actually include uapi headers from usr/include.

Introduce CONFIG_HEADERS_INSTALL since 'depends on HEADERS_INSTALL' is
clearer than 'depends on !UML'. If this option is enabled, uapi headers
are installed before starting directory descending.

I added 'depends on HEADERS_INSTALL' to per-sample CONFIG options.
This allows UML to compile some samples.

Krzysztof Kozlowski 10400c4017 s390/configs: remove useless UEVENT_HELPER_PATH
Remove the CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER_PATH because:
1. It is disabled since commit 1be01d4a57 ("driver: base: Disable
CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER by default") as its dependency (UEVENT_HELPER) was
   made default to 'n',
2. It is not recommended (help message: "This should not be used today
[...] creates a high system load") and was kept only for ancient
   userland,
3. Certain userland specifically requests it to be disabled (systemd
README: "Legacy hotplug slows down the system and confuses udev").

Masahiro Yamada f3e20ad67b s390: move arch/s390/defconfig to arch/s390/configs/defconfig
As of Linux 5.1, alpha and s390 are the last architectures that
have defconfig in arch/*/ instead of arch/*/configs/.

$ find arch -name defconfig | sort
  arch/alpha/defconfig
  arch/arm64/configs/defconfig
  arch/csky/configs/defconfig
  arch/nds32/configs/defconfig
  arch/riscv/configs/defconfig
  arch/s390/defconfig

The arch/$(ARCH)/defconfig is the hard-coded default in Kconfig,
and I want to deprecate it after evacuating the remaining defconfig
into the standard location, arch/*/configs/.

Define KBUILD_DEFCONFIG like other architectures, and move defconfig
into the configs/ subdirectory.

Philipp Rudo e23a8020ce s390/kexec_file: Signature verification prototype
Add kernel signature verification to kexec_file. The verification is based
on module signature verification and works with kernel images signed via
scripts/sign-file.

Chandan Rajendra 643fa9612b fscrypt: remove filesystem specific build config option
In order to have a common code base for fscrypt "post read" processing
for all filesystems which support encryption, this commit removes
filesystem specific build config option (e.g. CONFIG_EXT4_FS_ENCRYPTION)
and replaces it with a build option (i.e. CONFIG_FS_ENCRYPTION) whose
value affects all the filesystems making use of fscrypt.

Ard Biesheuvel ab8085c130 crypto: x86 - remove SHA multibuffer routines and mcryptd
As it turns out, the AVX2 multibuffer SHA routines are currently
broken [0], in a way that would have likely been noticed if this
code were in wide use. Since the code is too complicated to be
maintained by anyone except the original authors, and since the
performance benefits for real-world use cases are debatable to
begin with, it is better to drop it entirely for the moment.
