The information in there are all related to things already moved to
struct annotation, so move those members to struct annotation_line.

Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo 6dcd57e8ae perf annotate: Move nr_jumps to struct annotation
This is another information that will be useful for the --stdio2 mode,
to provide symbol statistics, so move it from the TUI and change the
mark_jump_targets() method to struct annotation.

Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo bc1c0f3dfa perf annotate: Move max_jump_sources to struct annotation
This is not useful only for the TUI, we'll want to somehow mark the
--stdio2 lines with the most jump sources too.

And moving this will allow us to change some function signatures from
annotate_browser to ui_browser, reducing boilerplate.

Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo 16932d7705 perf annotate: Stop using a global config struct
For the TUI, that is interactive, its interesting to have a
configuration that one can go on changing and then when moving from one
symbol annotation to another symbol, the options set while browsing the
first symbol to be kept.

But since we're trying to make this code reusable by a --stdio
formatter, we better have a pointer in struct annotation and in the TUI
case set it to the global, but use something else for other cases, such
as --stdio2.

Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo 0e83a7e9e5 perf annotate tui: Move have_cycles to struct annotation
This is to pave the way to have more functions shared between TUI, stdio
and the upcoming stdio2 formatting, that will use the __scnprintf
functions used by --tui in a --stdio fashion.

This partially addresses the comments added in cset 30e863bb6f ("perf
annotate: Compute IPC and basic block cycles"):

/*
 * This should probably be in util/annotate.c to share with the tty
 * annotate, but right now we need the per byte offsets arrays,
 * which are only here.
 */

The following patches will address the rest.

Ingo Molnar 39ce7fb315 perf report: Show zero counters as well in 'perf report --stat'
When recently using 'perf report --stat' it was not clear to me from the
output whether a particular statistics field (LOST_SAMPLES) was not
present, or just zero:

  fomalhaut:~> perf report --stat

  Aggregated stats:
           TOTAL events: 495984
            MMAP events: 85
            COMM events: 3389
            EXIT events: 1605
        THROTTLE events: 2
      UNTHROTTLE events: 2
            FORK events: 3377
          SAMPLE events: 472629
           MMAP2 events: 14753
  FINISHED_ROUND events: 139
      THREAD_MAP events: 1
         CPU_MAP events: 1
       TIME_CONV events: 1

I had to check the output several times to ascertain that I'm not
misreading the output, that the field didn't change and that I didn't
misremember the name. In fact I had to look into the perf source to make
sure that zero fields are indeed not shown.

With the patch applied:

  fomalhaut:~> perf report --stat

  Aggregated stats:
           TOTAL events: 495984
            MMAP events: 85
            LOST events: 0
            COMM events: 3389
            EXIT events: 1605
        THROTTLE events: 2
      UNTHROTTLE events: 2
            FORK events: 3377
            READ events: 0
          SAMPLE events: 472629
           MMAP2 events: 14753
             AUX events: 0
    ITRACE_START events: 0
    LOST_SAMPLES events: 0
          SWITCH events: 0
 SWITCH_CPU_WIDE events: 0
      NAMESPACES events: 0
            ATTR events: 0
      EVENT_TYPE events: 0
    TRACING_DATA events: 0
        BUILD_ID events: 0
  FINISHED_ROUND events: 139
        ID_INDEX events: 0
   AUXTRACE_INFO events: 0
        AUXTRACE events: 0
  AUXTRACE_ERROR events: 0
      THREAD_MAP events: 1
         CPU_MAP events: 1
     STAT_CONFIG events: 0
            STAT events: 0
      STAT_ROUND events: 0
    EVENT_UPDATE events: 0
       TIME_CONV events: 1
         FEATURE events: 0

It's pretty clear at a glance that LOST_SAMPLES is present but zero.

The original output can still be gotten via:

fomalhaut:~> perf report --stat | grep -vw 0

  Aggregated stats:
           TOTAL events: 495984
            MMAP events: 85
            COMM events: 3389
            EXIT events: 1605
        THROTTLE events: 2
      UNTHROTTLE events: 2
            FORK events: 3377
          SAMPLE events: 472629
           MMAP2 events: 14753
  FINISHED_ROUND events: 139
      THREAD_MAP events: 1
         CPU_MAP events: 1
       TIME_CONV events: 1

So I don't think there's any real loss in functionality.

Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo 9c04409d7f perf annotate browser: Be more robust when drawing jump arrows
This first happened with a gcc function, _cpp_lex_token, that has the
usual jumps:

 │1159e6c: ↓ jne 115aa32 <_cpp_lex_token@@Base+0xf92>

I.e. jumps to a label inside that function (_cpp_lex_token), and those
works, but also this kind:

 │1159e8b: ↓ jne c469be <cpp_named_operator2name@@Base+0xa72>

I.e. jumps to another function, outside _cpp_lex_token, which are not
being correctly handled generating as a side effect references to
ab->offset[] entries that are set to NULL, so to make this code more
robust, check that here.

A proper fix for will be put in place, looking at the function name
right after the '<' token and probably treating this like a 'call'
instruction.

For now just don't draw the arrow.

The jump arrow in above example is not correct. It should add the
width of IPC and Cycle.

With this patch, the result is:

Committer notes:

Please note that only from LBRv5 (according to Jiri) onwards, i.e. >=
Skylake is that we'll have the cycles counts in each branch record
entry, so to see the Cycles and IPC columns, and be able to test this
patch, one need a capable hardware.

While applying this I first tested it on a Broadwell class machine and
couldn't get those columns, will add code to the annotate browser to
warn the user about that, i.e. you have branch records, but no cycles,
use a more recent hardware to get the cycles and IPC columns.

Changing the way the annotation lines are allocated and adding
annotation_line__(new|delete) functions to deal with this.

Before the allocation schema was as follows:

  -----------------------------------------------------------
  struct disasm_line | struct annotation_line | private space
  -----------------------------------------------------------

Where the private space is used in TUI code to store computed
annotation data for events. The stdio code computes the data
on the fly.

The goal is to compute and store annotation line's data directly
in the struct annotation_line itself, so this patch changes the
line allocation schema as follows:

  ------------------------------------------------------------
  privsize space | struct disasm_line | struct annotation_line
  ------------------------------------------------------------

Moving struct annotation_line to the end, because in following
changes we will move here the non-fixed length event's data.

Greg Kroah-Hartman b24413180f License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
 - file had no licensing information it it.
 - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
 - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
 - Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
 - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
   lines of source
 - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
   lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

 - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
   COPYING file license applied.

For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 11139

and resulted in the first patch in this series.

If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930

and resulted in the second patch in this series.

 - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
   GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
   LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
   GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
   ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
   LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
   LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1

and that resulted in the third patch in this series.

 - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
   the concluded license(s).

 - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

 - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

 - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

 - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
   in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
 - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
   license ids and scores
 - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
 - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
   SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo bc1e5d60ce perf annotate TUI: Clarify calculation of column header widths
In commit f8f4aaead5 ("perf annotate: Finally display IPC and cycle
accounting") the 'pcnt_width' variable was abused in a few places to
also include the optional width of the "IPC" and "cycles" columns, while
in other places we stopped using 'pcnt_width' and instead its previous
equation...

Now that we need to tap into annotate_browser__pcnt_width() to consider
if --show-total-period is being used and instead of that hardcoded 7
(strlen("Percent")) we need to use it or strlen("Event count") we need
this properly clarified to avoid having to touch all the (7 * nr_events)
places.

Clarify this by introducing a separate annotate_browser__cycles_width()
to leave the pcnt_width calculate just what its name implies.

Jin Yao 7e63a13a26 perf annotate: Implement visual marker for macro fusion
For marking fused instructions clearly this patch adds a line before the
first instruction of pair and joins it with the arrow of the jump to its
target.

For example, when "je" is selected in annotate view, the line before
cmpl is displayed and joins the arrow of "je".

       │ ┌──cmpl $0x0,argp_program_version_hook
 81.93 │ ├──je 20
       │ │ lock cmpxchg %esi,0x38a9a4(%rip)
       │ │↓ jne 29
       │ │↓ jmp 43
 11.47 │20:└─→cmpxch %esi,0x38a999(%rip)

That means the cmpl+je is a fused instruction pair and they should be
considered together.

Changelog:

v3: Use Arnaldo's fix to improve the arrow origin rendering. To get the
evsel->evlist->env->cpuid, save the evsel in annotate_browser.

v2: new function "ins__is_fused" to check if the instructions are fused.

Jin Yao 69fb09f6cc perf annotate: Check for fused instructions
Macro fusion merges two instructions to a single micro-op. Intel core
platform performs this hardware optimization under limited
circumstances.

For example, CMP + JCC can be "fused" and executed /retired together.
While with sampling this can result in the sample sometimes being on the
JCC and sometimes on the CMP. So for the fused instruction pair, they
could be considered together.

On Nehalem, fused instruction pairs:

  cmp/test + jcc.

On other new CPU:

  cmp/test/add/sub/and/inc/dec + jcc.

This patch adds an x86-specific function which checks if 2 instructions
are in a "fused" pair. For non-x86 arch, the function is just NULL.

Changelog:

v4: Move the CPU model checking to symbol__disassemble and save the CPU
    family/model in arch structure.

It avoids checking every time when jump arrow printed.

v3: Add checking for Nehalem (CMP, TEST). For other newer Intel CPUs
just check it by default (CMP, TEST, ADD, SUB, AND, INC, DEC).

v2: Remove the original weak function. Arnaldo points out that doing it
as a weak function that will be overridden by the host arch doesn't
work. So now it's implemented as an arch-specific function.

Committer fix:

Do not access evsel->evlist->env->cpuid, ->env can be null, introduce
perf_evsel__env_cpuid(), just like perf_evsel__env_arch(), also used in
this function call.

The original patch was segfaulting 'perf top' + annotation.

But this essentially disables this fused instructions augmentation in
'perf top', the right thing is to get the cpuid from the running kernel,
left for a later patch tho.

Jin Yao ec27ae1892 perf annotate browser: Display titles in left frame
The annotate browser is divided into 2 frames. Left frame contains 3
columns (some platforms only have one column).

For example:

                   │26  int compute_flag()
                   │27  {
 22.80 1.20 │ sub $0x8,%rsp
                   │25          int i;
                   │
                   │27          i = rand() % 2;
 22.78 1.20 1 │ → callq rand@plt

While it's hard for user to understand what the data is.

This patch adds the titles "Percent", "IPC" and "Cycle" on columns.

Percent IPC Cycle │
                   │25 __attribute__((noinline))
                   │26  int compute_flag()
                   │27  {
 22.80 1.20 │ sub $0x8,%rsp
                   │25          int i;
                   │
                   │27          i = rand() % 2;
 22.78 1.20 1 │ → callq rand@plt

The titles are displayed at row 0 of annotate browser if row 0 doesn't
have values of percent, ipc and cycle.

Namhyung Kim 7111ffff60 perf tools: Put caller above callee in --children mode
The __hpp__sort_acc() sorts entries using callchain depth in order to
put callers above in children mode. But it assumed the callchain order
was callee-first. Now default (for children) is caller-first so the
order of entries is reverted.

For example, consider following case:

  $ perf report --no-children
  ..l
  # Overhead Command Shared Object Symbol
  # ........ ....... ................... ..........................
  #
      99.44% a.out a.out [.] main
              |
              ---main
                 __libc_start_main
                 _start

Then children mode should show 'start' above '__libc_start_main' since
it's the caller (parent) of the __libc_start_main. But it's reversed:

  # Children Self Command Shared Object Symbol
  # ........ ........ ....... ............... .....................
  #
      99.61% 0.00% a.out libc-2.25.so [.] __libc_start_main
      99.61% 0.00% a.out a.out [.] _start
      99.54% 99.44% a.out a.out [.] main

This patch fixes it.

  # Children Self Command Shared Object Symbol
  # ........ ........ ....... ............... .....................
  #
      99.61% 0.00% a.out a.out [.] _start

Milian Wolff 5dfa210e40 perf report: Enable sorting by srcline as key
Often it is interesting to know how costly a given source line is in

addresses that pointed to the same source line. This patch introduces
srcline as a sort key, which will do the aggregation for us.

Paired with the recent addition of showing inline frames, this makes
perf report much more useful for many C++ work loads.

The following shows the new feature in action. First, let's show the
status quo output when we sort by address. The result contains many hist
entries that generate the same output:

Namhyung Kim a1c9f97f0b perf diff: Fix -o/--order option behavior (again)
Commit 21e6d84286 ("perf diff: Use perf_hpp__register_sort_field
interface") changed list_add() to perf_hpp__register_sort_field().

This resulted in a behavior change since the field was added to the tail
instead of the head. So the -o option is mostly ignored due to its
order in the list.

This patch fixes it by adding perf_hpp__prepend_sort_field().

Namhyung Kim 8381cdd0e3 perf diff: Fix segfault on 'perf diff -o N' option
The -o/--order option is to select column number to sort a diff result.

It does the job by adding a hpp field at the beginning of the sort list.
But it should not be added to the output field list as it has no
callbacks required by a output field.

During the setup_sorting(), the perf_hpp__setup_output_field() appends
the given sort keys to the output field if it's not there already.

Originally it was checked by fmt->list being non-empty. But commit
3f931f2c42 ("perf hists: Make hpp setup function generic") changed it
to check the ->equal callback.

Anyways, we don't need to add the pseudo hpp field to the output field
list since it won't be used for output. So just skip fields if they
have no ->color or ->entry callbacks.

Soramichi AKIYAMA d25ed5d9fa perf tools: Move two variables usied in libperf from perf.c
The use_browser and perf_version_string variables are both declared in
perf.c but they are also referenced by other functions of libperf.a.

Therefore a user linking an own main() with libperf.a must declare those
two variables in their files even if the files never use the browser or
the version information.

This patch fixes this issue by moving use_browser and
perf_version_string out of perf.c to some other files.

Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo 75b49202d8 perf annotate: Remove duplicate 'name' field from disasm_line
The disasm_line::name field is always equal to ins::name, being used
just to locate the instruction's ins_ops from the per-arch instructions
table.

Eliminate this duplication, nuking that field and instead make
ins__find() return an ins_ops, store it in disasm_line::ins.ops, and
keep just in disasm_line::ins.name what was in disasm_line::name, this
way we end up not keeping a reference to entries in the per-arch
instructions table.

This in turn will help supporting multiple ways to manage the per-arch
instructions table, allowing resorting that array, for instance, when
the entries will move after references to its addresses were made. The
same problem is avoided when one grows the array with realloc.

So architectures simply keeping a constant array will work as well as
architectures building the table using regular expressions or other
logic that involves resorting the table.

Namhyung Kim d9ea48bc4e perf hists browser: Fix event group display
Milian reported that the event group on TUI shows duplicated overhead.
This was due to a bug on calculating hpp->buf position. The
hpp_advance() was called from __hpp__slsmg_color_printf() on TUI but
it's already called from the hpp__call_print_fn macro in __hpp__fmt().
The end result is that the print function returns number of bytes it
printed but the buffer advanced twice of the length.

This is generally not a problem since it doesn't need to access the
buffer again. But with event group, overhead needs to be printed
multiple times and hist_entry__snprintf_alignment() tries to fill the
space with buffer after it printed. So it (brokenly) showed the last
overhead again.

The bug was there from the beginning, but I think it's only revealed
when the alignment function was added.

Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo c8b5f2c96d tools: Introduce str_error_r()
The tools so far have been using the strerror_r() GNU variant, that
returns a string, be it the buffer passed or something else.

But that, besides being tricky in cases where we expect that the
function using strerror_r() returns the error formatted in a provided
buffer (we have to check if it returned something else and copy that
instead), breaks the build on systems not using glibc, like Alpine
Linux, where musl libc is used.

So, introduce yet another wrapper, str_error_r(), that has the GNU
interface, but uses the portable XSI variant of strerror_r(), so that
users rest asured that the provided buffer is used and it is what is
returned.

Andres Freund 9098903555 perf hists: Fix determination of a callchain node's childlessness
The 4b3a321223 ("perf hists browser: Support flat callchains") commit
over-aggressively tried to optimize callchain_node__init_have_children().

That lead to --tui mode not allowing to expand call chain elements if a
call chain element had only one parent. That's why --inverted callgraphs
looked halfway sane, but plain ones didn't.

Revert that individual optimization, it wasn't really related to the
rest of the commit.

Namhyung Kim 599a2f38a9 perf hists browser: Check sort keys before hot key actions
The context menu in TUI hists browser checks corresponding sort keys
when creating the menu item. But hotkey actions lacks these checks so
it can filter using incorrect info.

For example, default sort key of 'perf top' doesn't contain 'comm' or
'pid' sort key so each hist entry's thread info is not reliable. Thus
it should prohibit using thread filter on 't' key.

The commit 2eafd410e6 ("perf hists browser: Only 'Zoom into thread'

browser for the default sort key. However the he->thread is still valid
even if 'pid' sort key is not given. Only thing it should not use is
the pid (or tid) of the thread. So allow to filter by thread when

Namhyung Kim 1b2dbbf41a perf hists: Use own hpp_list for hierarchy mode
Now each hists has its own hpp lists in hierarchy. So instead of having
a pointer to a single perf_hpp_fmt in a hist entry, make it point the
hpp_list for its level. This will be used to support multiple sort keys

The perf_hpp__setup_hists_formats() is to build hists-specific output

Namhyung Kim cb1fab9172 perf report: Left align dynamic entries in hierarchy
The dynamic entries are right-aligned unlike other entries since it
usually has numeric value. But for the hierarchy mode, left alignment
is more appropriate IMHO. Also trim spaces on the left so that we can
easily identify the hierarchy.

Namhyung Kim d3a72fd818 perf report: Fix indentation of dynamic entries in hierarchy
When dynamic entries are used in the hierarchy mode with multiple
events, the output might not be aligned properly. In the hierarchy
mode, the each sort column is indented using total number of sort keys.
So it keeps track of number of sort keys when adding them. However
a dynamic sort key can be added more than once when multiple events have
same field names. This results in unnecessarily long indentation in the
output.

For example perf kmem records following events:

  $ perf evlist --trace-fields -i perf.data.kmem
  kmem:kmalloc: trace_fields: call_site,ptr,bytes_req,bytes_alloc,gfp_flags
  kmem:kmalloc_node: trace_fields: call_site,ptr,bytes_req,bytes_alloc,gfp_flags,node
  kmem:kfree: trace_fields: call_site,ptr
  kmem:kmem_cache_alloc: trace_fields: call_site,ptr,bytes_req,bytes_alloc,gfp_flags
  kmem:kmem_cache_alloc_node: trace_fields: call_site,ptr,bytes_req,bytes_alloc,gfp_flags,node
  kmem:kmem_cache_free: trace_fields: call_site,ptr
  kmem:mm_page_alloc: trace_fields: page,order,gfp_flags,migratetype
  kmem:mm_page_free: trace_fields: page,order

As you can see, many field names shared between kmem events. So adding
'ptr' dynamic sort key alone will set nr_sort_keys to 6. And this adds
many unnecessary spaces between columns.

Before:

  $ perf report -i perf.data.kmem --hierarchy -s ptr -g none --stdio

Namhyung Kim bd4abd39db perf report: Show message for percent limit on stdio
When the hierarchy mode is used, some entries might be omiited due to a
percent limit or filter. In this case the output hierarchy is different
than other entries. Add an informative message to users about this.

For example, when 4% of percent limit is applied:

Before:
  # Overhead Command / Shared Object / Symbol
  # .............. ..........................................

      11.51% firefox
          8.87% libpthread-2.22.so
             6.60% [.] __GI___libc_recvmsg
      10.49% gnome-shell
          4.74% libc-2.22.so

             5.27% [.] __memcpy_sse2_unaligned
       6.15% perf

Note that, gnome-shell/libc has no symbols and perf has no dso/symbols.
With that patch the output will look like below:

The hists__overhead_width() is to calculate width occupied by the

Namhyung Kim dd42baf1f6 perf tools: Fix assertion failure on dynamic entry
The dynamic entry is created for each field in a tracepoint event.
Since they have no fixed hpp format index, it should skip when
perf_hpp__reset_width() is called.

This caused following assertion failure..

  $ perf record -e sched:sched_switch -a sleep 1

  $ perf report -s comm,next_pid --stdio
  perf: ui/hist.c:651: perf_hpp__reset_width:
    Assertion `!(fmt->idx >= PERF_HPP__MAX_INDEX)' failed.

Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo 89fee70943 perf hists: Do column alignment on the format iterator
We were doing column alignment in the format function for each cell,
returning a string padded with spaces so that when the next column is
printed the cursor is at its column alignment.

This ends up needlessly printing trailing spaces, do it at the format
iterator, that is where we know if it is needed, i.e. if there is more
columns to be printed.

This eliminates the need for triming lines when doing a dump using 'P'
in the TUI browser and also produces far saner results with things like
piping 'perf report' to 'less'.

Right now only the formatters for sym->name and the 'locked' column
(perf mem report), that are the ones that end up at the end of lines
in the default 'perf report', 'perf top' and 'perf mem report' tools,
the others will be done in a subsequent patch.

In the end the 'width' parameter for the formatters now mean, in
'printf' terms, the 'precision', where before it was the field 'width'.
