In my test, balance-alb bonding with two slaves eth0 and eth1,
and then Bond0.150 is created with vlan id attached bond0.
After adding bond0.150 into one linux bridge, I noted that Bond0,
bond0.150 and bridge were assigned to the same MAC as eth0.
Once bond0.150 receives a packet whose dest IP is bridge's
and dest MAC is eth1's, the linux bridge will not match
eth1's MAC entry in FDB, and not handle it as expected.
The patch fix the issue, and diagram as below:
eth1(mac:eth1_mac)--bond0(balance-alb,mac:eth0_mac)--eth0(mac:eth0_mac)
|
bond0.150(mac:eth0_mac)

Since ipv6 neighbor solicitation and advertisement messages
isn't handled gracefully in bond6 driver, we can see packet
drop due to inconsistency between mac address in the option
message and source MAC .
Another examples is ipv6 neighbor solicitation and advertisement
messages from VM via tap attached to host bridge, the src mac
might be changed through balance-alb mode, but it is not synced
with Link-layer address in the option message.
The patch implements bond6's tx handle for ipv6 neighbor
solicitation and advertisement messages.

Functions related to nested interface infrastructure such as
netdev_walk_all_{ upper | lower }_dev() pass both private functions
and "data" pointer to handle their own things.
At this point, the data pointer type is void *.
In order to make it easier to expand common variables and functions,
this new netdev_nested_priv structure is added.
In the following patch, a new member variable will be added into this
struct to fix the lockdep issue.

This merge includes updates to bonding driver needed for the rdma stack,
to avoid conflicts with the RDMA branch.
Maor Gottlieb Says:
====================
Bonding: Add support to get xmit slave
The following series adds support to get the LAG master xmit slave by
introducing new .ndo - ndo_get_xmit_slave. Every LAG module can
implement it and it first implemented in the bond driver.
This is follow-up to the RFC discussion [1].
The main motivation for doing this is for drivers that offload part
of the LAG functionality. For example, Mellanox Connect-X hardware
implements RoCE LAG which selects the TX affinity when the resources
are created and port is remapped when it goes down.
The first part of this patchset introduces the new .ndo and add the
support to the bonding module.
The second part adds support to get the RoCE LAG xmit slave by building
skb of the RoCE packet based on the AH attributes and call to the new
.ndo.
The third part change the mlx5 driver driver to set the QP's affinity
port according to the slave which found by the .ndo.

can have different recovery strategies if it can have more
precise status, if packet was dropped by slave qdisc.

syzbot managed to send an IPX packet through bond_alb_xmit()
and af_packet and triggered a use-after-free.
First, bond_alb_xmit() was using ipx_hdr() helper to reach
the IPX header, but ipx_hdr() was using the transport offset
instead of the network offset. In the particular syzbot
report transport offset was 0xFFFF
This patch removes ipx_hdr() since it was only (mis)used from bonding.
Then we need to make sure IPv4/IPv6/IPX headers are pulled
in skb->head before dereferencing anything.

This patch removes variables and callback these are related to the nested
device structure.
devices that can be nested have their own nest_level variable that
represents the depth of nested devices.
In the previous patch, new {lower/upper}_level variables are added and
they replace old private nest_level variable.
So, this patch removes all 'nest_level' variables.
In order to avoid lockdep warning, ->ndo_get_lock_subclass() was added
to get lockdep subclass value, which is actually lower nested depth value.
But now, they use the dynamic lockdep key to avoid lockdep warning instead
of the subclass.
So, this patch removes ->ndo_get_lock_subclass() callback.

A follow-up patch will add a notifier type NETDEV_PRE_CHANGEADDR, which
allows vetoing of MAC address changes. One prominent path to that
notification is through dev_set_mac_address(). Therefore give this
function an extack argument, so that it can be packed together with the
notification. Thus a textual reason for rejection (or a warning) can be

There was a regression at some point from the intended functionality of
commit f60c3704e8 ("bonding: Fix alb mode to only use first level
vlans.")
Given the return value vlan_get_encap_level() we need to store the nest
level of the bond device, and then compare the vlan's encap level to
this. Without this, this check always fails and learning packets are
never sent.
In addition, this same commit caused a regression in the behavior of
balance_alb, which requires learning packets be sent for all interfaces
using the slave's mac in order to load balance properly. For vlan's
that have not set a user mac, we can send after checking one bit.
Otherwise we need send the set mac, albeit defeating rx load balancing
for that vlan.

Please do not apply this to mainline directly, instead please re-run the
coccinelle script shown below and apply its output.
For several reasons, it is desirable to use {READ,WRITE}_ONCE() in
preference to ACCESS_ONCE(), and new code is expected to use one of the
former. So far, there's been no reason to change most existing uses of
ACCESS_ONCE(), as these aren't harmful, and changing them results in
churn.
However, for some features, the read/write distinction is critical to
correct operation. To distinguish these cases, separate read/write
accessors must be used. This patch migrates (most) remaining
ACCESS_ONCE() instances to {READ,WRITE}_ONCE(), using the following
coccinelle script:

People are using bonding over Infiniband IPoIB connections, and who knows
what else. Infiniband has a hardware address length of 20 octets
(INFINIBAND_ALEN), and the network core defines a MAX_ADDR_LEN of 32.
Various places in the bonding code are currently hard-wired to 6 octets
(ETH_ALEN), such as the 3ad code, which I've left untouched here. Besides,
only alb is currently possible on Infiniband links right now anyway, due
to commit 1533e77315, so the alb code is where most of the changes are.
One major component of this change is the addition of a bond_hw_addr_copy
function that takes a length argument, instead of using ether_addr_copy
everywhere that hardware addresses need to be copied about. The other
major component of this change is converting the bonding code from using
struct sockaddr for address storage to struct sockaddr_storage, as the
former has an address storage space of only 14, while the latter is 128
minus a few, which is necessary to support bonding over device with up to
MAX_ADDR_LEN octet hardware addresses. Additionally, this probably fixes
up some memory corruption issues with the current code, where it's
possible to write an infiniband hardware address into a sockaddr declared
on the stack.
Lightly tested on a dual mlx4 IPoIB setup, which properly shows a 20-octet
hardware address now:

Convert alb_send_learning_packets and bond_has_this_ip to use the new

conversion; no functional change is intended.

ether_addr_equal_64bits() requires some care about its arguments,
namely that 8 bytes might be read, even if last 2 byte values are not
used.
KASan detected a violation with null_mac_addr and lacpdu_mcast_addr
in bond_3ad.c
Same problem with mac_bcast[] and mac_v6_allmcast[] in bond_alb.c :
Although the 8-byte alignment was there, KASan would detect out
of bound accesses.

The return value of kzalloc on failure of allocation of memory should
be -ENOMEM and not -1.
Found using Coccinelle. A simplified version of the semantic patch
used is:
//<smpl>
@@
expression *e;
@@
e = kzalloc(...);
if (e == NULL) {
...
return
- -1
+ -ENOMEM
;
}
//</smpl>
The single call site only checks that the return value is not 0,
hence no change is required at the call site.

Because bonding stats are usually sum of slave stats, it was
not easy to account for tx drops at bonding layer.
We can use dev->tx_dropped for this, as this counter is later
added to the device stats (in dev_get_stats())
This extends the idea we had in commit ee63771474 ("bonding: Simplify
the xmit function for modes that use xmit_hash") for bond_3ad_xor_xmit()
to other bonding modes.

Earlier change to use usable slave array for TLB mode had an additional
performance advantage. So extending the same logic to all other modes
that use xmit-hash for slave selection (viz 802.3AD, and XOR modes).
Also consolidating this with the earlier TLB change.
The main idea is to build the usable slaves array in the control path
and use that array for slave selection during xmit operation.
Measured performance in a setup with a bond of 4x1G NICs with 200
instances of netperf for the modes involved (3ad, xor, tlb)
cmd: netperf -t TCP_RR -H <TargetHost> -l 60 -s 5
Mode TPS-Before TPS-After
802.3ad : 468,694 493,101

First adjust a couple of locking comments that were left inaccurate,
then adjust comments to use the netdev styling and remove extra new
lines where necessary and add a couple of new lines between declarations
and code. These are all trivial styling changes, no functional change.
Also removed a couple of outdated or obvious comments.
This patch is by no means a complete fix of all netdev style violations
but it gets the bonding closer.

__rlb_next_rx_slave() is a copy of rlb_next_rx_slave() with the
difference that it uses rcu primitives to walk the slave list. We don't
need the two functions and can make rlb_next_rx_slave() a wrapper for
callers which hold RTNL.
So add a comment and ASSERT_RTNL() to make sure what is intended.

The ALB/TLB specific spinlocks are no longer necessary as we now have
bond->mode_lock for this purpose, so convert them and remove them from
struct alb_bond_info.
Also remove the unneeded lock/unlock functions and use spin_lock/unlock
directly.

Mostly all users of curr_slave_lock already have RTNL as we've discussed
previously so there's no point in using it, the one case where the lock
must stay is the 3ad code, in fact it's the only one.
It's okay to remove it from bond_do_fail_over_mac() as it's called with
RTNL and drops the curr_slave_lock anyway.
bond_change_active_slave() is one of the main places where
curr_slave_lock was used, it's okay to remove it as all callers use RTNL
these days before calling it, that's why we move the ASSERT_RTNL() in
the beginning to catch any potential offenders to this rule.
The RTNL argument actually applies to all of the places where
curr_slave_lock has been removed from in this patch.
Also remove the unnecessary bond_deref_active_protected() macro and use
rtnl_dereference() instead.

First in rlb_teach_disabled_mac_on_primary() it's okay to remove
curr_slave_lock as all callers except bond_alb_monitor() already hold
RTNL, and in case bond_alb_monitor() is executing we can at most have a
period with bad throughput (very unlikely though).
In bond_alb_monitor() it's okay to remove the read_lock as the slave
list is walked with RCU and the worst that could happen is another
transmitter at the same time and thus for a period which currently is 10
seconds (bond_alb.h: BOND_ALB_LP_TICKS).
And bond_alb_handle_active_change() is okay because it's always called
with RTNL. Removed the ASSERT_RTNL() because it'll be inserted in the
parent function in a following patch.

This "rcu_dereference()" call is used directly in a condition.
Since its return value is never dereferenced it is recommended to use
"rcu_access_pointer()" instead of "rcu_dereference()".
Therefore, this patch makes this replacement.
The following Coccinelle semantic patch was used for solving it:
