Doug Anderson 29d62ec5f8 regulator: core: Fix enable GPIO reference counting
Normally _regulator_do_enable() isn't called on an already-enabled
rdev.  That's because the main caller, _regulator_enable() always
calls _regulator_is_enabled() and only calls _regulator_do_enable() if
the rdev was not already enabled.

However, there is one caller of _regulator_do_enable() that doesn't
check: regulator_suspend_finish().  While we might want to make
regulator_suspend_finish() behave more like _regulator_enable(), it's
probably also a good idea to make _regulator_do_enable() robust if it
is called on an already enabled rdev.

At the moment, _regulator_do_enable() is _not_ robust for already
enabled rdevs if we're using an ena_pin.  Each time
_regulator_do_enable() is called for an rdev using an ena_pin the
reference count of the ena_pin is incremented even if the rdev was
already enabled.  This is not as intended because the ena_pin is for
something else: for keeping track of how many active rdevs there are
sharing the same ena_pin.

Here's how the reference counting works here:

* Each time _regulator_enable() is called we increment
  rdev->use_count, so _regulator_enable() calls need to be balanced
  with _regulator_disable() calls.

* There is no explicit reference counting in _regulator_do_enable()
  which is normally just a warapper around rdev->desc->ops->enable()
  with code for supporting delays.  It's not expected that the
  "ops->enable()" call do reference counting.

* Since regulator_ena_gpio_ctrl() does have reference counting
  (handling the sharing of the pin amongst multiple rdevs), we
  shouldn't call it if the current rdev is already enabled.

Note that as part of this we cleanup (remove) the initting of
ena_gpio_state in regulator_register().  In _regulator_do_enable(),
_regulator_do_disable() and _regulator_is_enabled() is is clear that
ena_gpio_state should be the state of whether this particular rdev has
requested the GPIO be enabled.  regulator_register() was initting it
as the actual state of the pin.

Javier Martinez Canillas 0548bf4f5a regulator: Only enable disabled regulators on resume
The _regulator_do_enable() call ought to be a no-op when called on an
already-enabled regulator.  However, as an optimization
_regulator_enable() doesn't call _regulator_do_enable() on an already
enabled regulator.  That means we never test the case of calling
_regulator_do_enable() during normal usage and there may be hidden
bugs or warnings.  We have seen warnings issued by the tps65090 driver
and bugs when using the GPIO enable pin.

Let's match the same optimization that _regulator_enable() in
regulator_suspend_finish().  That may speed up suspend/resume and also
avoids exposing hidden bugs.

Heiko Stuebner c8b263cc03 regulator: act8865: add input supply handling
The act88600/act8846/act8865 regulators have a number of input supplies
supplying the individual regulators. This may even be recursively like on
most Rockchip boards using the act8846 where REG4 is most of the time
connected to the inl1-supply.

Therefore add the ability to specify the input supplies for the individual inputs.
The input-names are taken from the datasheets of act8600, act8846 and act8865.
On the act8600 some regulators do not have separate input supplies.

Charles Keepax 046db763aa regulator: core: Add devres versions of notifier registration
Add devm_regulator_register_notifier, this adds the resource against the
device for the consumer supply we are registering the notifier for. There
seem to be few use-cases where this wouldn't be the users intention and
this ensures the notifiers will always be removed at the correct time.

Takashi Iwai cde72ccfdd regulator: Fix regression due to NULL constraints check
The commit [39f802d6b6d9: 'regulator: Build sysfs entries with static
attribute groups'] converted the sysfs entry creation to static
attribute groups, but this resulted in a regression due to the NULL
check of rdev->constraints.  At the point where the device is
registered, rdev->constraints isn't set, so the attributes depending
on it are missing.

We may fix it by shuffling the code order in regulator_register(), but
a quicker fix is to just remove this NULL check.  rdev->constraints is
in anyway always set to non-NULL in set_machine_constraints(), thus
the check there is basically superfluous.

Doug Anderson 28249b0c2f regulator: rk808: Set the enable time for LDOs
The LDOs are documented in the rk808 datasheet to have a soft start
time of 400us.  Add that to the driver.  If this time takes longer on
a certain board the device tree should be able to override with
"regulator-enable-ramp-delay".

This fixes some dw_mmc probing problems (together with other patches
posted to the mmc maiing lists) on rk3288.

Geert Uytterhoeven 4d9cbff5aa regulator: da9210: Mask all interrupt sources to deassert interrupt line
After boot-up, some events may be set, and cause the da9210 interrupt
line to be asserted. As the da9210 driver doesn't have interrupt support
yet, this causes havoc on systems where the interrupt line is shared
among multiple devices.

This is the case on e.g. r8a7791/koelsch, where the interrupt line is
shared with a da9063 regulator, and the following events are set:

    EVENT_A = 0x00000011 (GPI0 | GPI4)
    EVENT_B = 0x00000002 (NPWRGOOD)

Takashi Iwai 39f802d6b6 regulator: Build sysfs entries with static attribute groups
Instead of calling device_create_file() manually after the device
registration, put all in attribute groups and filter the unwanted ones
via is_visible callback.  This not only simplifies the code but also
avoids the possible race between the device registration and sysfs
registration.

Krzysztof Kozlowski bfa21a0dfe regulator: Allow parsing custom properties when using simplified DT parsing
When drivers use simplified DT parsing method (they provide
'regulator_desc.of_match') they still may want to parse custom
properties for some of the regulators. For example some of the
regulators support GPIO enable control.

Add a driver-supplied callback for such case. This way the regulator
core parses common bindings offloading a lot of code from drivers and
still custom properties may be used.

The callback, called for each parsed regulator, may modify the
'regulator_config' initially passed to regulator_register().

Copy the 'regulator_config' structure passed to regulator_register()
function so the driver could safely modify it after parsing init data.

The driver may want to change the config as a result of specific init

Ashay Jaiswal 83b0302d34 regulator: core: fix race condition in regulator_put()
The regulator framework maintains a list of consumer regulators
for a regulator device and protects it from concurrent access using
the regulator device's mutex lock.

In the case of regulator_put() the consumer is removed and regulator
device's parameters are updated without holding the regulator device's
mutex. This would lead to a race condition between the regulator_put()
and any function which traverses the consumer list or modifies regulator
device's parameters.
Fix this race condition by holding the regulator device's mutex in case
of regulator_put.

Invalid buck4 configuration for linear mapping of voltage in S2MPS14
regulators caused boot failure on Gear 2 (dw_mmc-exynos):

Buck4 voltage regulator has different minimal voltage value than other
bucks. Commit merging multiple regulator description macros caused to
use linear_min_sel from buck[1235] regulators as value for buck4. This
lead to lower voltage of buck4 than required.

Output of the buck4 is used internally as power source for
LDO{3,4,7,11,19,20,21,23}. On Gear 2 board LDO11 is used as MMC
regulator (V_EMMC_1.8V).

Romain Perier 8f73110f6b of: Rename "poweroff-source" property to "system-power-controller"
It reverts commit a4b4e0461e ("of: Add standard property for poweroff capability").
As discussed on the mailing list, it makes more sense to rename back to the
old established property name, without the vendor prefix. Problem being that
the word "source" usually tends to be used for inputs and that is out of control
of the OS. The poweroff capability is an output which simply turns the
system-power off. Also, this property might be used by drivers which power-off
the system and power back on subsequent RTC alarms. This seems to suggest to
remove "poweroff" from the property name and to choose "system-power-controller"
as the more generic name. This patchs adds the required renaming changes and
defines an helper function which checks if this property is set.

The max77802 PMIC regulators output can be configured in one of two
modes: Output ON (normal) and Output ON in Low Power Mode. Some of
the regulators support their operating mode to be changed on startup
or by consumers when the system is running while others only support
their operating mode to be changed while the system has entered in a
suspend state.

Use the max77802_map_mode() function to translate the device specific
modes to the standard operating modes as used by the regulator core.

Javier Martinez Canillas 5e5e3a42c6 regulator: of: Add support for parsing initial and suspend modes
Some regulators support their operating mode to be changed on startup
or by consumers when the system is running while others only support
their operating mode to be changed while the system has entered in a
suspend state.

The regulator Device Tree binding documents a set of properties to
configure the regulators operating modes from a FDT. This patch builds
on (40e20d6 regulator: of: Add support for parsing regulator_state for
suspend state) and adds support to parse those properties and fill the
regulator constraints so the regulator core can call the right suspend
handlers when the system enters into sleep.

The modes are defined in the Device Tree using the hardware specific
modes supported by the regulators. Regulator drivers have to define a
translation function that is used to map the hardware specific modes
to the standard ones.

Drivers can use the of_regulator_match() function to parse the regulator
init_data from DT. A match table is used to specify the name of the node
containing the regulators, the device node and to return the init_data
to the caller.

But also the static regulator descriptor is needed to correctly extract
some DT properties like the regulator initial and suspend modes. Use the
match table to pass that information.

The of_get_regulator_init_data() function is used to extract the regulator
init_data but information on how to extract certain data is defined in the
static regulator descriptor (e.g: how to map the hardware operating modes).

Add a const struct regulator_desc * parameter to the function signature so
the parsing logic could use the information in the struct regulator_desc.

of_get_regulator_init_data() relies on of_get_regulation_constraints() to
actually extract the init_data so it has to pass the struct regulator_desc
but that is modified on a later patch.

Richard Fitzgerald 9f946099fe regulator: gpio: fix parsing of gpio list
The list of gpios is defined as optional but the code was
failing to properly handle the case of no gpios, and also
failing to check for errors reading the entry from the
devicetree.

This patch fixes the handling of optional gpios - this is a
useful feature enabling the gpio-regulator to be used as a
dummy variable voltage regulator without having to assign any
real GPIO lines.

Krzysztof Kozlowski ca0c37a0b4 regulator: max77693: Fix use of uninitialized regulator config
Driver allocated on stack struct regulator_config but didn't initialize
it fully. Few fields (driver_data, ena_gpio) were left untouched. This
lead to using random ena_gpio values as GPIOs for max77693 regulators.

On occasion these values could match real GPIO numbers leading to
interfering with other drivers and to unsuccessful enable/disable of
regulator.

Mark Brown 194dbaefa0 regulator: Lower priority of constraint logging
Some systems have very large numbers of regulators so the constraint
logging done at startup can end up being a very big part of the boot
output which is both verbose and slows things down if the console is
a serial console. Lower to dev_dbg() instead, we may want to provide
a boot parameter to raise this in future but for now people can edit
the source.

Krzysztof Kozlowski 78ce612860 regulator: max77686: Add suspend disable for some LDOs
Some LDOs of Maxim 77686 PMIC support disabling during system suspend
(LDO{2,6,7,8,10,11,12,14,15,16}). This was already implemented as part
of set_suspend_mode function. In that case the mode was one of:
 - disable,
 - normal mode,
 - low power mode.
However there are no bindings for setting the mode during suspend.

Add suspend disable for LDO regulators supporting this. Re-use existing
max77686_buck_set_suspend_disable() function. This helps reducing
energy consumption during system sleep.

Javier Martinez Canillas 4eafec83aa regulator: of: Decrement refcount for suspend state nodes
of_get_regulation_constraints() calls of_get_child_by_name() to find the
regulator-state-{mem,disk} child nodes for each regulator. This function
increments the device node reference counter but this is not decremented
once the function is done using the node.

Fix that by calling of_node_put() after finishing using the device node.

The max77802 PMIC has a special enable pin (PWRREQ) that can be used
by the Application Processor (AP) to power down and up voltage rails.

The max77802 PMIC regulators have 3 different enable control logics.
Some regulators support to be configured on different operational mode
during normal operation while others only support to be put in a Low
Power Mode while the system has entered in sleep mode. Some regulators
don't even support that configuration. The logics are the following:

The driver only implemented .set_suspend_mode for the LDOs regulators

were used for the logic 1 and 2 but this is not necessary.

Only normal and Low Power Mode are valid operational modes, OFF is not
an mode but is a regulator state that is handled by .set_suspend_enable
ad .set_suspend_disable. So the same .set_suspend_mode function can be
used by all the regulators that support Output On with Low Power Mode
by PWRREQ, making much simpler the code to set the suspend mode.

The max77802 PMIC has an enable pin (PWRREQ) that can be used to switch
regulators ON and OFF automatically by the Application Processor when
the system is leaving and entering sleep mode.

Only the BUCKs regulators had a .set_suspend_disable function handler
that used the enable pin to turn OFF the regulators during suspend.

But most LDOs also support that functionality (besides 1, 3, 20 and 21)
so rename the function to a more generic name and use the same function
for the LDOs. Also add a .set_suspend_enable handler for all regulators
and use the same function used for the .enable operation.

Finally, don't treat output ON/OFF controlled by PWRREQ as an operating
mode using the ambiguous MAX77802_OPMODE_STANDBY since it's not an opmode.
Instead make it clear that is a control value to switch the regulator OFF
by PWRREQ when the system is entering in a suspend state.

Markus Pargmann 76f439df50 regulator: Add ena_gpio_initialized to regulator_config
Most drivers do not set the ena_gpio field of struct regulator_config
before passing it to the regulator core. This is fine as long as the
gpio identifier that is passed is a positive integer. But the gpio
identifier 0 is also valid. So we are not able to decide wether we got a
real gpio identifier or not based on a 0 in ena_gpio.

To be able to decide if it is a valid gpio that got passed, this patch
adds a ena_gpio_initialized field that should be set if was initialized
with a correct value, either a gpio >= 0 or a negative error number. The
core then checks if ena_gpio or ena_gpio_initialized before handling it
as a gpio. This way we maintain backwards compatibility and fix the
behaviour for gpio number 0.

This patch prepares for changing the max14577 charger driver to allow
configuring battery-dependent settings from DTS.

The patch moves from regulator driver to MFD core driver and exports:
 - function for calculating register value for charger's current;
 - table of limits for chargers (MAX14577, MAX77836).

Previously they were used only by the max14577 regulator driver. In next
patch the charger driver will use them as well. Exporting them will
reduce unnecessary code duplication.

Maxime Ripard 0d90ecf31e regulator: axp20x: Use parent device as regulator configuration device
The current device used for the regulator configuration is the child device
created by the MFD driver. This means that it doesn't have any of_node pointing
to it, and whenever we register the regulators, it will not look into the
regulator supply in the DT, hence requiring to provide regulator aliases in the
MFD driver.

We can easily fix that by using the parent device in our configuration, which
has a DT node associated to it, and will allow a DT lookup. Eventually, we will
be able to remove the aliases in the MFD driver.

Heiko Stuebner ee30928ab6 regulator: fan53555: add support for Silergy SYR82x regulators
Silergy SYR82x regulators share the exact same functionality and register layout
as the Fairchild FAN53555 regulators. Therefore extend the driver to add
support for them.

Both types use the same vendor id in their ID1 register, so it's not possible
to distinguish them automatically.

Similarly, the types also do not match. Type 8 used by the SYR827 and SYR828
start at 712.5mV and increment in 12.5mv steps, while the FAN53555 type 8
starts at 600mV and increments in 10mV steps.

Mark Brown a0c7b164ad regulator: of: Provide simplified DT parsing method
Currently regulator drivers which support DT all repeat very similar code
to supply a list of known regulator identifiers to be matched with DT,
convert that to platform data which is then matched up with the regulators
as they are registered. This is both fiddly to get right and for devices
which can use the standard helpers to provide their operations is the main
source of code in the driver.

Since this code is essentially identical for most drivers we can factor it
out into the core, moving the identifiers in the match table into the
regulator descriptors and also allowing drivers to pass in the name of the
subnode to search. When a driver provides an of_match string for the
regulator the core will attempt to use that to obtain init_data, allowing
the driver to remove all explicit code for DT parsing and simply provide
data instead.

The current code leaks the phandles for the child nodes, this will be
addressed incrementally and makes no practical difference for FDT anyway
as the DT data structures are never freed.

Guodong Xu b8b27a44dd regulator: remove unnecessary of_node_get() to parent
These of_node_get() were added to balance refcount decrements inside of
of_find_node_by_name().
See: commit c92f5dd2c4 ("regulator: Add missing of_node_put()")

However of_find_node_by_name() was then replaced by of_get_child_by_name(),
which doesn't call of_node_put() against its input parameter.

So, need to remove these unnecessary of_node_get() calls.

Axel Lin 192264e0a5 regulator: as3711: Remove unused fields from as3711_regulator_info and as3711_regulator
The max_uV is not used, so remove it from struct as3711_regulator_info.
Current code is using devm_regulator_register(), so we don't need to store *rdev
in struct as3711_regulator for clean up.

Also clean up AS3711_REG macro to remove _vshift, _min_uV and _max_uV arguments.
_vshift is always 0, so remove it.
_min_uV and _max_uV are not required, all required settings are set in
REGULATOR_LINEAR_RANGE macro.

Javier Martinez Canillas aea8dfb9f3 regulator: max77802: set opmode to normal if off is read from hw
The max77802 driver reads the default operating mode (opmode)
set for regulators when enabled from the hardware registers.

But if a regulator is disabled and the system warm restarted,
the hardware reports OFF as the opmode so the regulator is
not enabled. Default to operating mode NORMAL if OFF is read
from the hardware register.

Guodong Xu 87ca186f7e regulator: add driver for hi6421 voltage regulator
Add driver support for HiSilicon Hi6421 voltage regulators.

Two rules for regulator enabling are defined in hi6421 spec:
1) Between disable and enable of each regulator (LDOs or BUCKs), there must
   be a protection gap. Use @off_on_delay of regulator core to implement this.
2) No two regulators can be enabled at the same time. Use mutex in
   hi6421_regulator_pdata to ensure this. A protection gap of 100us is added
   into each LDO/BUCK's .enable_time.

Guodong Xu 871f565055 regulator: core: add guard delay between calling regulator_disable and _enable
Some regulator require a minimum delay between its disable and next enable.
This is to avoid damages when out-of-range frequent disable/enable of a
single regulator can bring to the regulator chip.

Add @off_on_delay to struct regulator_desc. Device drivers' can use this field
to set this guard time.

Add @last_off_jiffy to struct regulator_dev. When @off_on_delay is set by
driver, regulator core can store its last off (disable) time into this field.

Axel Lin 3220574143 regulator: tps65023: Remove duplicate test for I2C_FUNC_SMBUS_BYTE_DATA functionality
Since commit b42261078a ("regmap: i2c: fallback to SMBus if the adapter
does not support standard I2C"), regmap-i2c will check the
I2C_FUNC_SMBUS_[BYTE|WORD]_DATA functionality based on the regmap_config
setting if the adapter does not support standard I2C.

So remove the I2C_FUNC_SMBUS_BYTE_DATA functionality check in the driver code.

Javier Martinez Canillas 4f2352cf52 regulator: tps65090: Set voltage for fixed regulators
According to the tps65090 data manual [0], the DCDC1 and DCDC2
step-down converters and the LDO's have a fixed output voltage.

Add this information to the driver since these fixed regulators
can be used as parent input supply for switches that don't have
an output voltage defined. So the regulator core needs to fetch
the FET parent output voltage if the child voltage is queried.

Javier Martinez Canillas 26988efe11 regulator: core: Allow to get voltage count and list from parent
Load switches are modeled as regulators but they just provide
the voltage of their parent input supply. So, the drivers for
these switches usually neither provide a .list_voltage handler
not set a .n_voltages count. But there is code in the kernel
that assumes that all regulators should be able to provide this
information (e.g: cpufreq and mmc subsystems).

If the voltage count and list are not available for a regulator
and it has a parent input supply, then use the parent values.

Tuomas Tynkkynen 04eca28cde regulator: Add helpers for low-level register access
Add helper functions that allow regulator consumers to obtain low-level
details about the regulator hardware, like the voltage selector register
address and such. These details can be useful when configuring hardware
or firmware that want to do low-level access to regulators, with no
involvement from the kernel.

The use-case for Tegra is a voltage-controlled oscillator clocksource
which has control logic to change the supply voltage via I2C to achieve
a desired output clock rate.

We use regmap regulator ops to enable/disable and check if regulator
is enabled for various SMPS. However, these depend on valid
enable_reg, enable_mask and enable_value in regulator descriptor.

Nishanth Menon 318dbb02b5 regulator: palmas: Fix SMPS enable/disable/is_enabled
We use regmap regulator ops to enable/disable and check if regulator
is enabled for various SMPS. However, these depend on valid
enable_reg, enable_mask and enable_value in regulator descriptor.

Currently we do not populate these for SMPS other than SMPS10, this
results in spurious results as regmap assumes that the values are
valid and ends up reading register 0x0 RTC:SECONDS_REG on Palmas
variants that do have RTC! To fix this, we update proper parameters
for the descriptor fields.

Further, we want to ensure the behavior consistent with logic
prior to commit dbabd624d4, where, once you do a set_mode,
enable/disable ensure the logic remains consistent and configures
Palmas to the configuration that we set with set_mode (since the
configuration register is common). To do this, we can rely on the
regulator core's regulator_register behavior where the regulator
descriptor pointer provided by the regulator driver is stored. (no
reallocation and copy is done). This lets us update the enable_value
post registration, to remain consistent with the mode we configure as
part of set_mode.

Nishanth Menon 6b7f2d82d5 regulator: palmas: Fix SMPS list for 0V
get_voltage_sel reads from SMPS register - if the read selector value
is 0, the SMPS is actually disabled - So, this is in addition to the
ctrl_register that may also be used to enable/disable the SMPS.

The original logic(prior to commit dbabd624d4) used to be:

To handle this scenario, with the transition to regulator_list
implementation, we seem to have missed the data necessary to mark as
one of the valid entries as "0" 'disabled regulator' which results in
0 volts - So, stick with pre-existing logic.

Without this added to the list, palmas regulator driver,
on probe, attempts to setup constraints and in the case of
OMAP5uEVM, SMPS9 (which is mapped for 2v1 audio supply) fails in
regulator_list_voltage_linear_range mapping of '0', and as a fall back
of constraints not being applied, the entire regulator list is not
enumerated due to assumption that something system wide has gone bad
on with the PMIC.

is a little more informative for debugging the error.

Thierry Reding 2050afde19 regulator: as3722: Make 0 a valid selector
As of commit 064d5cd110 (regulator: core: Fix the init of DT defined
fixed regulators) the regulator core tries to query the current voltage
of a regulator when applying constraints. This exposes a bug in the
AS3722 regulator driver which fails to read the voltage of disabled
regulators. The reason is that the hardware is programmed to a selector
of 0, but none of the voltage tables include 0 as a valid selector. The
datasheets indicate that 0 is a valid selector when the regulators are
powered off.

To fix this, add a range including selector 0 to the voltage tables.

Alban Bedel 064d5cd110 regulator: core: Fix the init of DT defined fixed regulators
When a regulator is defined using DT and it has a single voltage the
regulator init always tries to apply this voltage. However it fails if
the regulator isn't settable because it is using an internal low level
function. To overcome this we now first query the regulator and only
set it if needed.
