Alex Deucher 134b480f4b drm/radeon: Add support for programming the FMT blocks
The FMT blocks control how data is sent from the backend
of the display pipe to to monitor. Proper set up of the
FMT blocks are required for 30bpp formats. Additionally,
dithering can be enabled on for better display with 18 and
24bpp displays. The exception is LVDS/eDP which atom
takes care of in the SelectCRTC_Source table. For now
just enable truncation until we test dithering more.

Alex Deucher de926800b1 drm/radeon: use sw CTS/N values for audio on DCE4+
Use the driver calculated CTS and N values rather than
having hardware generate them. This allows us to use
the modeline pixel clock rather than the actual pll clock
when setting up the dto for audio. Fixes problems with
audio playback rate on certain asics if the pll clock
does not match the pixel clock exactly.

Dave Airlie 5bdebb183c drm/sysfs: sort out minor and connector device object lifetimes.
So drm was abusing device lifetimes, by having embedded device structures
in the minor and connector it meant that the lifetime of the internal drm
objects (drm_minor and drm_connector) were tied to the lifetime of the device
files in sysfs, so if something kept those files opened the current code
would kfree the objects and things would go downhill from there.

Now in reality there is no need for these lifetimes to be so intertwined,
especailly with hotplugging of devices where we wish to remove the sysfs
and userspace facing pieces before we can unwind the internal objects due
to open userspace files or mmaps, so split the objects out so the struct
device is no longer embedded and do what fbdev does and just allocate
and remove the sysfs inodes separately.

Alex Deucher 108dc8e8b4 drm/radeon: rework audio option
In 3.12 I changed audio to be enabled by default,
but you still had to turn it on via xrandr. This
was confusing to users so change it to minic the
previous behavior:

- audio option is set to -1 (auto) by default which is
the current 3.12 behavior (audio is enabled but requires
  xrandr to turn it on).
- if audio = 1, the audio is enabled without needing
to mess with xrandr (previous behavior)
- audio = 0 disables audio

It retains the new feature of allowing the user to enable
audio on the fly with xrandr, but turns audio on
automatically if radeon.audio=1 is set which is what
most users expect.

Alex Deucher 91f3a6aaf2 drm/radeon/atom: workaround vbios bug in transmitter table on rs880 (v2)
The OUTPUT_ENABLE action jumps past the point in the coder where
the data_offset is set on certain rs780 cards. This worked
previously because the OUTPUT_ENABLE action is always called
immediately after the ENABLE action so the data_offset remained
set. In 6f8bbaf568c7f2c497558bfd04654c0b9841ad57
(drm/radeon/atom: initialize more atom interpretor elements to 0),
we explictly reset data_offset to 0 between atom calls which then
caused this to fail. The fix is to just skip calling the
OUTPUT_ENABLE action on the problematic chipsets. The ENABLE
action does the same thing and more. Ultimately, we could
probably drop the OUTPUT_ENABLE action all together on DCE3
asics.

Dan Carpenter 8c5c6fad61 drm/radeon: signedness bug in kv_dpm.c
The problem here is that "unsigned i" is always greater than or equal to
zero. These loops mostly have a second check for "(i == 0)" so only the
last two are actually buggy. The rest is just cleanup.

Bug 1:  kv_force_dpm_highest() doesn't have an "(i == 0)" check so it's
a potential forever loop.

Bug 2: In kv_get_sleep_divider_id_from_clock() there is a typo and the
test is reversed "<=" vs ">" so we never enter the loop. That means
normally we return KV_MAX_DEEPSLEEP_DIVIDER_ID (5). The return value
from here is saved in ->DeepSleepDivId and I wasn't able to determine
how that is used. This is a static checker fix and I have not tested
it.

Alex Deucher e5903d399a drm/radeon: fix init ordering for r600+
The vram scratch buffer needs to be initialized
before the mc is programmed otherwise we program

Alex Deucher 2ce529dac7 drm/radeon: split out radeon_uvd_resume from uvd_v4_2_resume
For powergating, we just need to re-init the registers, there
is no need to restore the uvd BOs. This just adds needless
work when powergating uvd for playback while the system is
on. We only need to restore the uvd BOs on an actual resume
from suspend or when the driver loads.

This fixes multi-stream UVD playback on KB systems.

Sergey Senozhatsky 27c505ca84 radeon kms: fix uninitialised hotplug work usage in r100_irq_process()
Commit a01c34f72e (radeon kms: do not
flush uninitialized hotplug work) moved work initialisation phase to
the last step of radeon_irq_kms_init(). Meelis Roos reported that this
causes problems on his machine because drm_irq_install() uses hotplug
work on r100.

hotplug work flushed in radeon_irq_kms_fini(), with two possible cases:
-- radeon_irq_kms_fini() call after successful radeon_irq_kms_init()
-- radeon_irq_kms_fini() call after unsuccessful (or not called at all)
   radeon_irq_kms_init()

The latter one causes flush work on uninitialised hotplug work. Move
work initialisation before drm_irq_install(), but keep existing agreement
to flush hotplug work in radeon_irq_kms_fini() only for `irq.installed'
(successful radeon_irq_kms_init()) case.

Tom Stellard e5b9e7503e drm/radeon/si: Add support for CP DMA to CS checker for compute v2
Also add a new RADEON_INFO query to check that CP DMA packets are
supported on the compute ring.

CP DMA has been supported since the 3.8 kernel, but due to an oversight
we forgot to teach the CS checker that the CP DMA packet was legal for
the compute ring on Southern Islands GPUs.

This patch fixes a bug where the radeon driver will incorrectly reject a legal
CP DMA packet from user space. I would like to have the patch
backported to stable so that we don't have to require Mesa users to use a
bleeding edge kernel in order to take advantage of this feature which
is already present in the stable kernels (3.8 and newer).

Dave Airlie 0d69704ae3 gpu/vga_switcheroo: add driver control power feature. (v3)
For optimus and powerxpress muxless we really want the GPU
driver deciding when to power up/down the GPU, not userspace.

This adds the ability for a driver to dynamically power up/down
the GPU and remove the switcheroo from controlling it, the
switcheroo reports the dynamic state to userspace also.

It also adds 2 power domains, one for machine where the power
switch is controlled outside the GPU D3 state, so the powerdown
ordering is done correctly, and the second for the hdmi audio
device to make sure it can resume for PCI config space accesses.

v1.1: fix build with switcheroo off

David Herrmann acb4652703 drm: verify vma access in TTM+GEM drivers
GEM does already a good job in tracking access to gem buffers via handles
and drm_vma access management. However, TTM drivers currently do not
verify this during mmap().

TTM provides the verify_access() callback to test this. So fix all drivers
to actually call into gem+vma to verify access instead of always returning
0.

All drivers assume that user-space can only get access to TTM buffers via
GEM handles. So whenever the verify_access() callback is called from
ttm_bo_mmap(), the buffer must have a valid embedded gem object. This is
true for all TTM+GEM drivers. But that's why this patch doesn't touch pure
TTM drivers (ie, vmwgfx).

v2: Switch to drm_vma_node_verify_access() to correctly return -EACCES if
    access was denied.

Daniel Vetter 281856477c drm: rip out drm_core_has_MTRR checks
The new arch_phys_wc_add/del functions do the right thing both with
and without MTRR support in the kernel. So we can drop these
additional checks.

David Herrmann suggest to also kill the DRIVER_USE_MTRR flag since
it's now unused, which spurred me to do a bit a better audit of the
affected drivers. David helped a lot in that. Quoting our mail

Cool, thanks a lot for stitching together the list of drivers to look
at. So for real KMS drivers it's the drives responsibility to add an
mtrr if it needs one. nouvea, radeon, mgag200, i915 and vmwgfx do that
already. Somehow the savage driver also ends up doing that, I have no
idea why.

Note that gma500 as a pure KMS driver doesn't need MTRR setup since
the platforms that it supports all support PAT. So no MTRRs needed to
get wc iomappings.

The mtrr support in the drm core is all for legacy mappings of garts,
framebuffers and registers. All legacy drivers set the USE_MTRR flag,
so we're good there.

All in all I think we can really just ditch this

bewildered why peopled loved signals so much back in the days that
they've created SIGIO just for that ...

Then I wondered how this ever works, and what that strange "No-op."
comment right above it should mean. After all calling the core fasync
helper is pretty obviously not a noop. After reading through the
kernels FASYNC implementation I've noticed that signals are only sent
out to the processes attached with FASYNC by calling kill_fasync.

No merged drm driver has ever done that.

After more digging I've found out that the only driver that ever used
this is the so called GAMMA driver. I've frankly never heard of such a
gpu brand ever before. Now FASYNC seems to not have been the only bad
thing with that driver, since Dave Airlie removed it from the drm
driver with prejudice:

commit 1430163b4bbf7b00367ea1066c1c5fe85dbeefed
Author: Dave Airlie <airlied@linux.ie>
Date: Sun Aug 29 12:04:35 2004 +0000

Drop GAMMA DRM from a great height ...

Long story short, the drm fasync support seems to be doing absolutely
nothing. And the only user of it was never merged into the upstream
kernel. And we don't need any fops->fasync callback since the fcntl
implementation in the kernel already implements the noop case
correctly.

So stop this particular cargo-cult and rip it all out.

v2: Kill drm_fasync assignments in rcar (newly added) and imx drivers
(somehow I've missed that one in staging). Also drop the reference in
the drm DocBook. ARM compile-fail reported by Rob Clark.

v3: Move the removal of dev->buf_asnyc assignment in drm_setup to this
patch here.

v4: Actually git add ... tsk.

David Herrmann 72525b3f33 drm/ttm: convert to unified vma offset manager
Use the new vma-manager infrastructure. This doesn't change any
implementation details as the vma-offset-manager is nearly copied 1-to-1
from TTM.

The vm_lock is moved into the offset manager so we can drop it from TTM.
During lookup, we use the vma locking helpers to take a reference to the
found object.
In all other scenarios, locking stays the same as before. We always
guarantee that drm_vma_offset_remove() is called only during destruction.
Hence, helpers like drm_vma_node_offset_addr() are always safe as long as
the node has a valid offset.

This also drops the addr_space_offset member as it is a copy of vm_start
in vma_node objects. Use the accessor functions instead.

v4:
 - remove vm_lock
 - use drm_vma_offset_lock_lookup() to protect lookup (instead of vm_lock)

Mark Kettenis cef1d00cd5 drm/radeon: fix combios tables on older cards
Noticed that my old Radeon 7500 hung after printing

drm: GPU not posted. posting now...

when it wasn't selected as the primary card the BIOS. Some digging
revealed that it was hanging in combios_parse_mmio_table() while
parsing the ASIC INIT 3 table. Looking at the BIOS ROM for the card,
it becomes obvious that there is no ASIC INIT 3 table in the BIOS.
The code is just processing random garbage. No surprise it hangs!

Why do I say that there is no ASIC INIT 3 table is the BIOS? This
table is found through the MISC INFO table. The MISC INFO table can
be found at offset 0x5e in the COMBIOS header. But the header is
smaller than that. The COMBIOS header starts at offset 0x126. The
standard PCI Data Structure (the bit that starts with 'PCIR') lives at
offset 0x180. That means that the COMBIOS header can not be larger
than 0x5a bytes and therefore cannot contain a MISC INFO table.

I looked at a dozen or so BIOS images, some my own, some downloaded from:

    <http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/index.php?manufacturer=ATI&page=1>

It is fairly obvious that the size of the COMBIOS header can be found
at offset 0x6 of the header. Not sure if it is a 16-bit number or
just an 8-bit number, but that doesn't really matter since the tables
seems to be always smaller than 256 bytes.

So I think combios_get_table_offset() should check if the requested
table is present. This can be done by checking the offset against the
size of the header. See the diff below. The diff is against the WIP
OpenBSD codebase that roughly corresponds to Linux 3.8.13 at this
point. But I don't think this bit of the code changed much since
then.

For what it is worth:

Ondrej Zary f7929f34fa drm/radeon: Another card with wrong primary dac adj
Hello,
got another card with "too bright" problem:
Sapphire Radeon VE 7000 DDR (VGA+S-Video)

lspci -vnn:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV100 QY [Radeon 7000/VE] [1002:5159] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Subsystem: PC Partner Limited Sapphire Radeon VE 7000 DDR [174b:7c28]

The patch below fixes the problem for this card.
But I don't like the blacklist, couldn't some heuristic be used instead?
The interesting thing is that the manufacturer is the same as the other card
needing the same quirk. I wonder how many different types are broken this way.

The "wrong" ps2_pdac_adj value that comes from BIOS on this card is 0x300.

====================
drm/radeon: Add primary dac adj quirk for Sapphire Radeon VE 7000 DDR

Values from BIOS are wrong, causing too bright colors.
Use default values instead.

Linus Torvalds 2e17c5a97e Merge branch 'drm-next' of git://people.freedesktop.org/~airlied/linux
Pull drm updates from Dave Airlie:
"Okay this is the big one, I was stalled on the fbdev pull req as I
stupidly let fbdev guys merge a patch I required to fix a warning with
some patches I had, they ended up merging the patch from the wrong
place, but the warning should be fixed. In future I'll just take the
  patch myself!

  Outside drm:

There are some snd changes for the HDMI audio interactions on haswell,
they've been acked for inclusion via my tree. This relies on the
wound/wait tree from Ingo which is already merged.

  Major changes:

AMD finally released the dynamic power management code for all their
GPUs from r600->present day, this is great, off by default for now but
also a huge amount of code, in fact it is most of this pull request.

Since it landed there has been a lot of community testing and Alex has
sent a lot of fixes for any bugs found so far. I suspect radeon might
now be the biggest kernel driver ever :-P p.s. radeon.dpm=1 to enable
  dynamic powermanagement for anyone.

  New drivers:

  Renesas r-car display unit.

  Other highlights:

   - core: GEM CMA prime support, use new w/w mutexs for TTM
     reservations, cursor hotspot, doc updates
   - dvo chips: chrontel 7010B support
   - i915: Haswell (fbc, ips, vecs, watermarks, audio powerwell),
Valleyview (enabled by default, rc6), lots of pll reworking, 30bpp
     support (this time for sure)
   - nouveau: async buffer object deletion, context/register init
updates, kernel vp2 engine support, GF117 support, GK110 accel
support (with external nvidia ucode), context cleanups.
   - exynos: memory leak fixes, Add S3C64XX SoC series support, device
tree updates, common clock framework support,
   - qxl: cursor hotspot support, multi-monitor support, suspend/resume
     support
   - mgag200: hw cursor support, g200 mode limiting
   - shmobile: prime support
   - tegra: fixes mostly

I've been banging on this quite a lot due to the size of it, and it
seems to okay on everything I've tested it on."

Alex Deucher 67d5ced503 drm/radeon: fix surface setup on r1xx
r1xx asics have a slightly different surface register
setup compared to newer asics. There is no specific
enable bit for macro tiling, rather, to disable macro
tiling, you need to set the surface pitch to 0.

With this fixed, the special rn50 handling can go.

Alex Deucher edcaa5b125 drm/radeon: add support for 3d perf states on older asics
Certain older rv770 asics have both a performance and
a 3D performance state rather than just multiple performance
levels in the state power state. The current code would
select the performance state rather than the 3D performance
state when the "performance" profile was selected. This change
switches to the "balanced" profile by default which ends up being
the internal performance profile. When the user selects the
"performance" profile, it selects the internal 3D performance
state so the user can select the higher performance modes.

For most asics this changes nothing. For certain rv770 asics
with static performance and 3D performance states, this allows
you to select between then using by selecting the "balanced"
and "performance" dpm profiles.
