Now when ipv4 route inserts a fib_info, it memcmp fib_metrics.
It means ipv4 route identifies one route also with metrics.
But when removing a route, it tries to find the route without
caring about the metrics. It will cause that the route with

The FIB notification chain is currently soley used by IPv4 code.
However, we're going to introduce IPv6 FIB offload support, which
requires these notification as well.
As explained in commit c3852ef7f2 ("ipv4: fib: Replay events when
registering FIB notifier"), upon registration to the chain, the callee
receives a full dump of the FIB tables and rules by traversing all the
net namespaces. The integrity of the dump is ensured by a per-namespace
sequence counter that is incremented whenever a change to the tables or
rules occurs.
In order to allow more address families to use the chain, each family is
expected to register its fib_notifier_ops in its pernet init. These
operations allow the common code to read the family's sequence counter
as well as dump its tables and rules in the given net namespace.
Additionally, a 'family' parameter is added to sent notifications, so
that listeners could distinguish between the different families.
Implement the common code that allows listeners to register to the chain
and for address families to register their fib_notifier_ops. Subsequent
patches will implement these operations in IPv6.
In the future, ipmr and ip6mr will be extended to provide these
notifications as well.

Michał reported a NULL pointer deref during fib_sync_down_dev() when
unregistering a netdevice. The problem is that we don't check for
'in_dev' being NULL, which can happen in very specific cases.
Usually routes are flushed upon NETDEV_DOWN sent in either the netdev or
the inetaddr notification chains. However, if an interface isn't
configured with any IP address, then it's possible for host routes to be
flushed following NETDEV_UNREGISTER, after NULLing dev->ip_ptr in
inetdev_destroy().
To reproduce:
$ ip link add type dummy
$ ip route add local 1.1.1.0/24 dev dummy0
$ ip link del dev dummy0
Fix this by checking for the presence of 'in_dev' before referencing it.

With the previous preparation patches, we are ready to get rid of the
dst gc operation in ipv4 code and release dst based on refcnt only.
So this patch adds DST_NOGC flag for all IPv4 dst and remove the calls

As the intend of this patch series is to completely remove dst gc,
we need to call dst_dev_put() to release the reference to dst->dev
when removing routes from fib because we won't keep the gc list anymore
and will lose the dst pointer right after removing the routes.
Without the gc list, there is no way to find all the dst's that have
dst->dev pointing to the going-down dev.
Hence, we are doing dst_dev_put() immediately before we lose the last
reference of the dst from the routing code. The next dst_check() will
trigger a route re-lookup to find another route (if there is any).

In IPv4 routing code, fib_nh and fib_nh_exception can hold pointers
to struct rtable but they never increment dst->__refcnt.
This leads to the need of the dst garbage collector because when user
is done with this dst and calls dst_release(), it can only decrement
dst->__refcnt and can not free the dst even it sees dst->__refcnt
drops from 1 to 0 (unless DST_NOCACHE flag is set) because the routing
code might still hold reference to it.
And when the routing code tries to delete a route, it has to put the
dst to the gc_list if dst->__refcnt is not yet 0 and have a gc thread
running periodically to check on dst->__refcnt and finally to free dst
when refcnt becomes 0.
This patch increments dst->__refcnt when
fib_nh/fib_nh_exception holds reference to this dst and properly release
the dst when fib_nh/fib_nh_exception has been updated with a new dst.
This patch is a preparation in order to fully get rid of dst gc later.

This patch adds support for ECMP hash policy choice via a new sysctl
called fib_multipath_hash_policy and also adds support for L4 hashes.
The current values for fib_multipath_hash_policy are:
0 - layer 3 (default)
1 - layer 4
If there's an skb hash already set and it matches the chosen policy then it
will be used instead of being calculated (currently only for L4).
In L3 mode we always calculate the hash due to the ICMP error special
case, the flow dissector's field consistentification should handle the
address order thus we can remove the address reversals.
If the skb is provided we always use it for the hash calculation,
otherwise we fallback to fl4, that is if skb is NULL fl4 has to be set.

The FIB notification chain is going to be converted to an atomic chain,
which means switchdev drivers will have to offload FIB entries in

However, while the work is queued fib info might be freed, so a

When deleting an IP address from an interface, there is a clean-up of
routes which refer to this local address. However, there was no check to
see that the VRF matched. This meant that deletion wasn't confined to
the VRF it should have been.
To solve this, a new field has been added to fib_info to hold a table
id. When removing fib entries corresponding to a local ip address, this
table id is also used in the comparison.
The table id is populated when the fib_info is created. This was already
done in some places, but not in ip_rt_ioctl(). This has now been fixed.

Currently, when creating or updating a route, no check is performed
in both ipv4 and ipv6 code to the hoplimit value.
The caller can i.e. set hoplimit to 256, and when such route will
be used, packets will be sent with hoplimit/ttl equal to 0.
This commit adds checks for the RTAX_HOPLIMIT value, in both ipv4
ipv6 route code, substituting any value greater than 255 with 255.
This is consistent with what is currently done for ADVMSS and MTU

...
If the link between tor3 and tor1 is down and the link between tor1
and tor2 then tor1 is effectively cut-off from h1. Yet the route lookups
in h1 are alternating between the 2 routes: ping 15.0.0.5 gets one and
ssh 15.0.0.5 gets the other. Connections that attempt to use the
12.0.0.2 nexthop fail since that neighbor is not reachable:

12.0.0.3 dev swp1 lladdr 00:02:00:00:00:1b REACHABLE
12.0.0.2 dev swp1 FAILED

The failed path can be avoided by considering known neighbor information
when selecting next hops. If the neighbor lookup fails we have no
knowledge about the nexthop, so give it a shot. If there is an entry
then only select the nexthop if the state is sane. This is similar to
what fib_detect_death does.
To maintain backward compatibility use of the neighbor information is
based on a new sysctl, fib_multipath_use_neigh.

$ ip route add 10.248.5.0/24 dev bond0.250 table vlan_250 src 10.248.5.154
RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument
021dd3b8a1 changed the lookup of the given preferred source address to
use the table id passed in, but this assumes the local entries are in the
given table which is not necessarily true for non-VRF use cases. When
validating the preferred source fallback to the local table on failure.

Minor overlapping changes in net/ipv4/ipmr.c, in 'net' we were
fixing the "BH-ness" of the counter bumps whilst in 'net-next'
the functions were modified to take an explicit 'net' parameter.

This patch changes how the multipath hash is computed for locally
generated flows: now the hash comprises l4 information.
This allows better utilization of the available paths when the existing
flows have the same source IP and the same destination IP: with l3 hash,
even when multiple connections are in place simultaneously, a single path
will be used, while with l4 hash we can use all the available paths.
v2 changes:
- use get_hash_from_flowi4() instead of implementing just another l4 hash
function

When nexthop is part of multipath route we should clear the
LINKDOWN flag when link goes UP or when first address is added.
This is needed because we always set LINKDOWN flag when DEAD flag
was set but now on UP the nexthop is not dead anymore. Examples when
LINKDOWN bit can be forgotten when no NETDEV_CHANGE is delivered:
- link goes down (LINKDOWN is set), then link goes UP and device
shows carrier OK but LINKDOWN remains set
- last address is deleted (LINKDOWN is set), then address is
added and device shows carrier OK but LINKDOWN remains set
Steps to reproduce:
modprobe dummy
ifconfig dummy0 192.168.168.1 up
here add a multipath route where one nexthop is for dummy0:
ip route add 1.2.3.4 nexthop dummy0 nexthop SOME_OTHER_DEVICE
ifconfig dummy0 down
ifconfig dummy0 up
now ip route shows nexthop that is not dead. Now set the sysctl var:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/dummy0/ignore_routes_with_linkdown
now ip route will show a dead nexthop because the forgotten
RTNH_F_LINKDOWN is propagated as RTNH_F_DEAD.

When fib_netdev_event calls fib_disable_ip on NETDEV_DOWN event
we should not delete the local routes if the local address
is still present. The confusion comes from the fact that both
fib_netdev_event and fib_inetaddr_event use the NETDEV_DOWN
constant. Fix it by returning back the variable 'force'.
Steps to reproduce:
modprobe dummy
ifconfig dummy0 192.168.168.1 up
ifconfig dummy0 down
ip route list table local | grep dummy | grep host
local 192.168.168.1 dev dummy0 proto kernel scope host src 192.168.168.1

VRF device needs the same path selection following lookup to set source
address. Rather than duplicating code, move existing code into a
function that is exported to modules.
Code move only; no functional change.

Currently, the following case doesn't use DCTCP, even if it should:
A responder has f.e. Cubic as system wide default, but for a specific
route to the initiating host, DCTCP is being set in RTAX_CC_ALGO. The
initiating host then uses DCTCP as congestion control, but since the
initiator sets ECT(0), tcp_ecn_create_request() doesn't set ecn_ok,
and we have to fall back to Reno after 3WHS completes.
We were thinking on how to solve this in a minimal, non-intrusive
way without bloating tcp_ecn_create_request() needlessly: lets cache
the CA ecn option flag in RTAX_FEATURES. In other words, when ECT(0)
is set on the SYN packet, set ecn_ok=1 iff route RTAX_FEATURES
contains the unexposed (internal-only) DST_FEATURE_ECN_CA. This allows
to only do a single metric feature lookup inside tcp_ecn_create_request().
