Gal Pressman 9daae9bd47 net: Call add/kill vid ndo on vlan filter feature toggling
NETIF_F_HW_VLAN_[CS]TAG_FILTER features require more than just a bit
flip in dev->features in order to keep the driver in a consistent state.
These features notify the driver of each added/removed vlan, but toggling
of vlan-filter does not notify the driver accordingly for each of the
existing vlans.

This patch implements a similar solution to NETIF_F_RX_UDP_TUNNEL_PORT
behavior (which notifies the driver about UDP ports in the same manner
that vids are reported).

Each toggling of the features propagates to the 8021q module, which
iterates over the vlans and call add/kill ndo accordingly.

John Fastabend fa246693a1 bpf: sockmap, BPF_F_INGRESS flag for BPF_SK_SKB_STREAM_VERDICT:
Add support for the BPF_F_INGRESS flag in skb redirect helper. To
do this convert skb into a scatterlist and push into ingress queue.
This is the same logic that is used in the sk_msg redirect helper
so it should feel familiar.

John Fastabend 8934ce2fd0 bpf: sockmap redirect ingress support
Add support for the BPF_F_INGRESS flag in sk_msg redirect helper.
To do this add a scatterlist ring for receiving socks to check
before calling into regular recvmsg call path. Additionally, because
the poll wakeup logic only checked the skb recv queue we need to
add a hook in TCP stack (similar to write side) so that we have
a way to wake up polling socks when a scatterlist is redirected
to that sock.

After this all that is needed is for the redirect helper to
push the scatterlist into the psock receive queue.

Move call_fib_rule_notifiers up in fib_nl_newrule to the point right
before the rule is inserted into the list. At this point there are no
more failure paths within the core rule code, so if the notifier
does not fail then the rule will be inserted into the list.

Kirill Tkhai f0b07bb151 net: Introduce net_rwsem to protect net_namespace_list
rtnl_lock() is used everywhere, and contention is very high.
When someone wants to iterate over alive net namespaces,
he/she has no a possibility to do that without exclusive lock.
But the exclusive rtnl_lock() in such places is overkill,
and it just increases the contention. Yes, there is already
for_each_net_rcu() in kernel, but it requires rcu_read_lock(),
and this can't be sleepable. Also, sometimes it may be need
really prevent net_namespace_list growth, so for_each_net_rcu()
is not fit there.

This patch introduces new rw_semaphore, which will be used
instead of rtnl_mutex to protect net_namespace_list. It is
sleepable and allows not-exclusive iterations over net
namespaces list. It allows to stop using rtnl_lock()
in several places (what is made in next patches) and makes
less the time, we keep rtnl_mutex. Here we just add new lock,
while the explanation of we can remove rtnl_lock() there are
in next patches.

Fine grained locks generally are better, then one big lock,
so let's do that with net_namespace_list, while the situation
allows that.

Inbar Karmy e1577c1c88 ethtool: Add support for configuring PFC stall prevention in ethtool
In the event where the device unexpectedly becomes unresponsive
for a long period of time, flow control mechanism may propagate
pause frames which will cause congestion spreading to the entire
network.
To prevent this scenario, when the device is stalled for a period
longer than a pre-configured timeout, flow control mechanisms are
automatically disabled.

This patch adds support for the ETHTOOL_PFC_STALL_PREVENTION
as a tunable.
This API provides support for configuring flow control storm prevention
timeout (msec).

Kirill Tkhai 070f2d7e26 net: Drop NETDEV_UNREGISTER_FINAL
Last user is gone after bdf5bd7f21 "rds: tcp: remove
register_netdevice_notifier infrastructure.", so we can
remove this netdevice command. This allows to delete
rtnl_lock() in netdev_run_todo(), which is hot path for
net namespace unregistration.

dev_change_net_namespace() and netdev_wait_allrefs()
have rcu_barrier() before NETDEV_UNREGISTER_FINAL call,
and the source commits say they were introduced to
delemit the call with NETDEV_UNREGISTER, but this patch
leaves them on the places, since they require additional
analysis, whether we need in them for something else.

Kirill Tkhai ede2762d93 net: Make NETDEV_XXX commands enum { }
This patch is preparation to drop NETDEV_UNREGISTER_FINAL.
Since the cmd is used in usnic_ib_netdev_event_to_string()
to get cmd name, after plain removing NETDEV_UNREGISTER_FINAL
from everywhere, we'd have holes in event2str[] in this
function.

Instead of that, let's make NETDEV_XXX commands names
available for everyone, and to define netdev_cmd_to_name()
in the way we won't have to shaffle names after their
numbers are changed.

function skb_segment(), line 3667. The bpf program attaches to
clsact ingress, calls bpf_skb_change_proto to change protocol

to send the changed packet out.

Fun set of conflict resolutions here...

For the mac80211 stuff, these were fortunately just parallel
adds.  Trivially resolved.

In drivers/net/phy/phy.c we had a bug fix in 'net' that moved the
function phy_disable_interrupts() earlier in the file, whilst in
'net-next' the phy_error() call from this function was removed.

In net/ipv4/xfrm4_policy.c, David Ahern's changes to remove the
'rt_table_id' member of rtable collided with a bug fix in 'net' that
added a new struct member "rt_mtu_locked" which needs to be copied
over here.

The mlxsw driver conflict consisted of net-next separating
the span code and definitions into separate files, whilst
a 'net' bug fix made some changes to that moved code.

The mlx5 infiniband conflict resolution was quite non-trivial,
the RDMA tree's merge commit was used as a guide here, and
here are their notes:

    Due to bug fixes found by the syzkaller bot and taken into the for-rc
    branch after development for the 4.17 merge window had already started
    being taken into the for-next branch, there were fairly non-trivial
    merge issues that would need to be resolved between the for-rc branch
    and the for-next branch.  This merge resolves those conflicts and
    provides a unified base upon which ongoing development for 4.17 can
    be based.

   which is not practical for system-wide profiling. Instead, this option for
   the stackmap rather stores the ELF build id and offset for the call trace

3) Add support that allows BPF programs attached to perf events to read the
   address values recorded with the perf events. They are requested through
   PERF_SAMPLE_ADDR via perf_event_open(). Main motivation behind it is to
   support building memory or lock access profiling and tracing tools with
   the help of BPF, from Teng.

4) Several improvements to the tools/bpf/ Makefiles. The 'make bpf' in the
   tools directory does not provide the standard quiet output except for
   bpftool and it also does not respect specifying a build output directory.
   'make bpf_install' command neither respects specified destination nor
   prefix, all from Jiri. In addition, Jakub fixes several other minor issues
   in the Makefiles on top of that, e.g. fixing dependency paths, phony
   targets and more.

5) Various doc updates e.g. add a comment for BPF fs about reserved names
   to make the dentry lookup from there a bit more obvious, and a comment
   to the bpf_devel_QA file in order to explain the diff between native
   and bpf target clang usage with regards to pointer size, from Quentin
   and Daniel.

John Fastabend 015632bb30 bpf: sk_msg program helper bpf_sk_msg_pull_data
Currently, if a bpf sk msg program is run the program
can only parse data that the (start,end) pointers already
consumed. For sendmsg hooks this is likely the first
scatterlist element. For sendpage this will be the range
(0,0) because the data is shared with userspace and by
default we want to avoid allowing userspace to modify
data while (or after) BPF verdict is being decided.

To support pulling in additional bytes for parsing use
a new helper bpf_sk_msg_pull(start, end, flags) which
works similar to cls tc logic. This helper will attempt
to point the data start pointer at 'start' bytes offest
into msg and data end pointer at 'end' bytes offset into
message.

After basic sanity checks to ensure 'start' <= 'end' and
'end' <= msg_length there are a few cases we need to
handle.

First the sendmsg hook has already copied the data from
userspace and has exclusive access to it. Therefor, it
is not necessesary to copy the data. However, it may
be required. After finding the scatterlist element with
'start' offset byte in it there are two cases. One the
range (start,end) is entirely contained in the sg element
and is already linear. All that is needed is to update the
data pointers, no allocate/copy is needed. The other case
is (start, end) crosses sg element boundaries. In this
case we allocate a block of size 'end - start' and copy
the data to linearize it.

Next sendpage hook has not copied any data in initial
state so that data pointers are (0,0). In this case we
handle it similar to the above sendmsg case except the
allocation/copy must always happen. Then when sending
the data we have possibly three memory regions that
need to be sent, (0, start - 1), (start, end), and
(end + 1, msg_length). This is required to ensure any
writes by the BPF program are correctly transmitted.

Lastly this operation will invalidate any previous
data checks so BPF programs will have to revalidate
pointers after making this BPF call.

John Fastabend 91843d540a bpf: sockmap, add msg_cork_bytes() helper
In the case where we need a specific number of bytes before a
verdict can be assigned, even if the data spans multiple sendmsg
or sendfile calls. The BPF program may use msg_cork_bytes().

The extreme case is a user can call sendmsg repeatedly with
1-byte msg segments. Obviously, this is bad for performance but
is still valid. If the BPF program needs N bytes to validate
a header it can use msg_cork_bytes to specify N bytes and the
BPF program will not be called again until N bytes have been
accumulated. The infrastructure will attempt to coalesce data
if possible so in many cases (most my use cases at least) the
data will be in a single scatterlist element with data pointers
pointing to start/end of the element. However, this is dependent
on available memory so is not guaranteed. So BPF programs must
validate data pointer ranges, but this is the case anyways to
convince the verifier the accesses are valid.

John Fastabend 2a100317c9 bpf: sockmap, add bpf_msg_apply_bytes() helper
A single sendmsg or sendfile system call can contain multiple logical
messages that a BPF program may want to read and apply a verdict. But,
without an apply_bytes helper any verdict on the data applies to all
bytes in the sendmsg/sendfile. Alternatively, a BPF program may only
care to read the first N bytes of a msg. If the payload is large say
MB or even GB setting up and calling the BPF program repeatedly for
all bytes, even though the verdict is already known, creates
unnecessary overhead.

To allow BPF programs to control how many bytes a given verdict
applies to we implement a bpf_msg_apply_bytes() helper. When called
from within a BPF program this sets a counter, internal to the
BPF infrastructure, that applies the last verdict to the next N
bytes. If the N is smaller than the current data being processed
from a sendmsg/sendfile call, the first N bytes will be sent and
the BPF program will be re-run with start_data pointing to the N+1
byte. If N is larger than the current data being processed the
BPF verdict will be applied to multiple sendmsg/sendfile calls
until N bytes are consumed.

Note1 if a socket closes with apply_bytes counter non-zero this
is not a problem because data is not being buffered for N bytes
and is sent as its received.

John Fastabend 4f738adba3 bpf: create tcp_bpf_ulp allowing BPF to monitor socket TX/RX data
This implements a BPF ULP layer to allow policy enforcement and
monitoring at the socket layer. In order to support this a new
program type BPF_PROG_TYPE_SK_MSG is used to run the policy at
the sendmsg/sendpage hook. To attach the policy to sockets a
sockmap is used with a new program attach type BPF_SK_MSG_VERDICT.

Similar to previous sockmap usages when a sock is added to a
sockmap, via a map update, if the map contains a BPF_SK_MSG_VERDICT
program type attached then the BPF ULP layer is created on the
socket and the attached BPF_PROG_TYPE_SK_MSG program is run for
every msg in sendmsg case and page/offset in sendpage case.

BPF_PROG_TYPE_SK_MSG Semantics/API:

BPF_PROG_TYPE_SK_MSG supports only two return codes SK_PASS and
SK_DROP. Returning SK_DROP free's the copied data in the sendmsg
case and in the sendpage case leaves the data untouched. Both cases
return -EACESS to the user. Returning SK_PASS will allow the msg to
be sent.

In the sendmsg case data is copied into kernel space buffers before
running the BPF program. The kernel space buffers are stored in a
scatterlist object where each element is a kernel memory buffer.
Some effort is made to coalesce data from the sendmsg call here.
For example a sendmsg call with many one byte iov entries will
likely be pushed into a single entry. The BPF program is run with
data pointers (start/end) pointing to the first sg element.

In the sendpage case data is not copied. We opt not to copy the
data by default here, because the BPF infrastructure does not
know what bytes will be needed nor when they will be needed. So
copying all bytes may be wasteful. Because of this the initial
start/end data pointers are (0,0). Meaning no data can be read or
written. This avoids reading data that may be modified by the
user. A new helper is added later in this series if reading and
writing the data is needed. The helper call will do a copy by
default so that the page is exclusively owned by the BPF call.

The verdict from the BPF_PROG_TYPE_SK_MSG applies to the entire msg
in the sendmsg() case and the entire page/offset in the sendpage case.
This avoids ambiguity on how to handle mixed return codes in the
sendmsg case. Again a helper is added later in the series if
a verdict needs to apply to multiple system calls and/or only
a subpart of the currently being processed message.

The helper msg_redirect_map() can be used to select the socket to
send the data on. This is used similar to existing redirect use
cases. This allows policy to redirect msgs.

Pseudo code simple example:

The basic logic to attach a program to a socket is as follows,

Adding sockets to the map is done in the normal way,

  // Add a socket 'fd' to sockmap at location 'i'
  bpf_map_update_elem(map_fd_msg, &i, fd, BPF_ANY);

After the above any socket attached to "my_sock_map", in this case
'fd', will run the BPF msg verdict program (msg_prog) on every
sendmsg and sendpage system call.

For a complete example see BPF selftests or sockmap samples.

Implementation notes:

It seemed the simplest, to me at least, to use a refcnt to ensure
psock is not lost across the sendmsg copy into the sg, the bpf program
running on the data in sg_data, and the final pass to the TCP stack.
Some performance testing may show a better method to do this and avoid
the refcnt cost, but for now use the simpler method.

Another item that will come after basic support is in place is
supporting MSG_MORE flag. At the moment we call sendpages even if
the MSG_MORE flag is set. An enhancement would be to collect the
pages into a larger scatterlist and pass down the stack. Notice that
bpf_tcp_sendmsg() could support this with some additional state saved
across sendmsg calls. I built the code to support this without having
to do refactoring work. Other features TBD include ZEROCOPY and the
TCP_RECV_QUEUE/TCP_NO_QUEUE support. This will follow initial series
shortly.

Future work could improve size limits on the scatterlist rings used
here. Currently, we use MAX_SKB_FRAGS simply because this was being
used already in the TLS case. Future work could extend the kernel sk
APIs to tune this depending on workload. This is a trade-off
between memory usage and throughput performance.

John Fastabend 8c05dbf04b net: generalize sk_alloc_sg to work with scatterlist rings
The current implementation of sk_alloc_sg expects scatterlist to always
start at entry 0 and complete at entry MAX_SKB_FRAGS.

Future patches will want to support starting at arbitrary offset into
scatterlist so add an additional sg_start parameters and then default
to the current values in TLS code paths.

Kirill Tkhai 79ffdfc652 net: Add rtnl_lock_killable()
rtnl_lock() is widely used mutex in kernel. Some of kernel code
does memory allocations under it. In case of memory deficit this
may invoke OOM killer, but the problem is a killed task can't
exit if it's waiting for the mutex. This may be a reason of deadlock
and panic.

This patch adds a new primitive, which responds on SIGKILL, and
it allows to use it in the places, where we don't want to sleep
forever.

Toshiaki Makita 4bbb3e0e82 net: Fix vlan untag for bridge and vlan_dev with reorder_hdr off
When we have a bridge with vlan_filtering on and a vlan device on top of
it, packets would be corrupted in skb_vlan_untag() called from
br_dev_xmit().

The problem sits in skb_reorder_vlan_header() used in skb_vlan_untag(),
which makes use of skb->mac_len. In this function mac_len is meant for
handling rx path with vlan devices with reorder_header disabled, but in
tx path mac_len is typically 0 and cannot be used, which is the problem
in this case.

The current code even does not properly handle rx path (skb_vlan_untag()
called from __netif_receive_skb_core()) with reorder_header off actually.

In rx path single tag case, it works as follows:

Willem de Bruijn ced68234b6 sock: remove zerocopy sockopt restriction on closed tcp state
Socket option SO_ZEROCOPY determines whether the kernel ignores or
processes flag MSG_ZEROCOPY on subsequent send calls. This to avoid
changing behavior for legacy processes.

Limiting the state change to closed sockets is annoying with passive
sockets and not necessary for correctness. Once created, zerocopy skbs
are processed based on their private state, not this socket flag.

Remove the constraint.

After the removal of the VLA, we get a harmless warning about a large
stack frame:

net/core/pktgen.c: In function 'pktgen_if_write':
net/core/pktgen.c:1710:1: error: the frame size of 1076 bytes is larger than 1024 bytes [-Werror=frame-larger-than=]

The function was previously shown to be safe despite hitting
the 1024 bye warning level. To get rid of the annoyging warning,
while keeping it readable, this changes it to use strndup_user().

Obviously this is not a fast path, so the kmalloc() overhead
can be disregarded.

Xin Long bf2ae2e4bf sock_diag: request _diag module only when the family or proto has been registered
Now when using 'ss' in iproute, kernel would try to load all _diag
modules, which also causes corresponding family and proto modules
to be loaded as well due to module dependencies.

Like after running 'ss', sctp, dccp, af_packet (if it works as a module)
would be loaded.

For example:

  $ lsmod|grep sctp
  $ ss
  $ lsmod|grep sctp
  sctp_diag              16384  0
  sctp                  323584  5 sctp_diag
  inet_diag              24576  4 raw_diag,tcp_diag,sctp_diag,udp_diag
  libcrc32c              16384  3 nf_conntrack,nf_nat,sctp

As these family and proto modules are loaded unintentionally, it
could cause some problems, like:

- Some debug tools use 'ss' to collect the socket info, which loads all
  those diag and family and protocol modules. It's noisy for identifying
  issues.

- Users usually expect to drop sctp init packet silently when they
  have no sense of sctp protocol instead of sending abort back.

- It wastes resources (especially with multiple netns), and SCTP module
  can't be unloaded once it's loaded.

...

In short, it's really inappropriate to have these family and proto
modules loaded unexpectedly when just doing debugging with inet_diag.

This patch is to introduce sock_load_diag_module() where it loads
the _diag module only when it's corresponding family or proto has
been already registered.

Note that we can't just load _diag module without the family or
proto loaded, as some symbols used in _diag module are from the
family or proto module.

Paolo Abeni f5426250a6 net: introduce IFF_NO_RX_HANDLER
Some network devices - notably ipvlan slave - are not compatible with
any kind of rx_handler. Currently the hook can be installed but any
configuration (bridge, bond, macsec, ...) is nonfunctional.

This change allocates a priv_flag bit to mark such devices and explicitly
forbid installing a rx_handler if such bit is set. The new bit is used
by ipvlan slave device.

Eric Dumazet 79134e6ce2 net: do not create fallback tunnels for non-default namespaces
fallback tunnels (like tunl0, gre0, gretap0, erspan0, sit0,
ip6tnl0, ip6gre0) are automatically created when the corresponding
module is loaded.

These tunnels are also automatically created when a new network
namespace is created, at a great cost.

In many cases, netns are used for isolation purposes, and these
extra network devices are a waste of resources. We are using
thousands of netns per host, and hit the netns creation/delete
bottleneck a lot. (Many thanks to Kirill for recent work on this)

Add a new sysctl so that we can opt-out from this automatic creation.

Note that these tunnels are still created for the initial namespace,
to be the least intrusive for typical setups.

Edward Cree 84a1d9c482 net: ethtool: extend RXNFC API to support RSS spreading of filter matches
We use a two-step process to configure a filter with RSS spreading.  First,
 the RSS context is allocated and configured using ETHTOOL_SRSSH; this
 returns an identifier (rss_context) which can then be passed to subsequent
 invocations of ETHTOOL_SRXCLSRLINS to specify that the offset from the RSS
 indirection table lookup should be added to the queue number (ring_cookie)
 when delivering the packet.  Drivers for devices which can only use the
 indirection table entry directly (not add it to a base queue number)
 should reject rule insertions combining RSS with a nonzero ring_cookie.

Paul Moore b51f26b146 net: don't unnecessarily load kernel modules in dev_ioctl()
Starting with v4.16-rc1 we've been seeing a higher than usual number
of requests for the kernel to load networking modules, even on events
which shouldn't trigger a module load (e.g. ioctl(TCGETS)).  Stephen
Smalley suggested the problem may lie in commit 44c02a2c3d
("dev_ioctl(): move copyin/copyout to callers") which moves changes
the network dev_ioctl() function to always call dev_load(),
regardless of the requested ioctl.

This patch moves the dev_load() calls back into the individual ioctls
while preserving the rest of the original patch.

Kirill Tkhai 30855ffc29 net: Make account struct net to memcg
The patch adds SLAB_ACCOUNT to flags of net_cachep cache,
which enables accounting of struct net memory to memcg kmem.
Since number of net_namespaces may be significant, user
want to know, how much there were consumed, and control.

Note, that we do not account net_generic to the same memcg,
where net was accounted, moreover, we don't do this at all (*).
We do not want the situation, when single memcg memory deficit
prevents us to register new pernet_operations.

available in linux-next. See kmalloc_memcg() there for the details.

Gal Pressman e6c6a92905 net: Make RX-FCS and LRO mutually exclusive
LRO and RX-FCS offloads cannot be enabled at the same time since it is
not clear what should happen to the FCS of each coalesced packet.
The FCS is not really part of the TCP payload, hence cannot be merged
into one big packet. On the other hand, providing one big LRO packet
with one FCS contradicts the RX-FCS feature goal.

Use the fix features mechanism in order to prevent intersection of the
features and drop LRO in case RX-FCS is requested.

Enabling RX-FCS while LRO is enabled will result in:
$ ethtool -K ens6 rx-fcs on
Actual changes:
large-receive-offload: off [requested on]
rx-fcs: on

William Tu 77a5196a80 gre: add sequence number for collect md mode.
Currently GRE sequence number can only be used in native
tunnel mode.  This patch adds sequence number support for
gre collect metadata mode.  RFC2890 defines GRE sequence
number to be specific to the traffic flow identified by the
key.  However, this patch does not implement per-key seqno.
The sequence number is shared in the same tunnel device.
That is, different tunnel keys using the same collect_md
tunnel share single sequence number.

They're very hard to use properly as they do not consider the
GSO_BY_FRAGS case. Code should use skb_gso_validate_network_len
and skb_gso_validate_mac_len as they do consider this case.

Daniel Axtens 779b7931b2 net: rename skb_gso_validate_mtu -> skb_gso_validate_network_len
If you take a GSO skb, and split it into packets, will the network
length (L3 headers + L4 headers + payload) of those packets be small
enough to fit within a given MTU?

skb_gso_validate_mtu gives you the answer to that question. However,
we recently added to add a way to validate the MAC length of a split GSO
skb (L2+L3+L4+payload), and the names get confusing, so rename
skb_gso_validate_mtu to skb_gso_validate_network_len

Daniel Axtens d02f51cbcf bpf: fix bpf_skb_adjust_net/bpf_skb_proto_xlat to deal with gso sctp skbs
SCTP GSO skbs have a gso_size of GSO_BY_FRAGS, so any sort of
unconditionally mangling of that will result in nonsense value
and would corrupt the skb later on.

Therefore, i) add two helpers skb_increase_gso_size() and
skb_decrease_gso_size() that would throw a one time warning and
bail out for such skbs and ii) refuse and return early with an
error in those BPF helpers that are affected. We do need to bail
out as early as possible from there before any changes on the
skb have been performed.

Mike Manning 50d629e7a8 net: allow interface to be set into VRF if VLAN interface in same VRF
Setting an interface into a VRF fails with 'RTNETLINK answers: File
exists' if one of its VLAN interfaces is already in the same VRF.
As the VRF is an upper device of the VLAN interface, it is also showing
up as an upper device of the interface itself. The solution is to
restrict this check to devices other than master. As only one master
device can be linked to a device, the check in this case is that the
upper device (VRF) being linked to is not the same as the master device
instead of it not being any one of the upper devices.

The following example shows an interface ens12 (with a VLAN interface
ens12.10) being set into VRF green, which behaves as expected:

  # ip link add link ens12 ens12.10 type vlan id 10
  # ip link set dev ens12 master vrfgreen
  # ip link show dev ens12

For ages iproute2 has used `struct rtmsg` as the ancillary header for
FIB rules and in the process set the protocol value to RTPROT_BOOT.
Until ca56209a66 ("net: Allow a rule to track originating protocol")
the kernel rules code ignored the protocol value sent from userspace
and always returned 0 in notifications. To avoid incompatibility with
existing iproute2, send the protocol as a new attribute.

Eric Dumazet a5f7add332 net_sched: gen_estimator: fix broken estimators based on percpu stats
pfifo_fast got percpu stats lately, uncovering a bug I introduced last
year in linux-4.10.

I missed the fact that we have to clear our temporary storage
before calling __gnet_stats_copy_basic() in the case of percpu stats.

Without this fix, rate estimators (tc qd replace dev xxx root est 1sec
4sec pfifo_fast) are utterly broken.

Allow a rule that is being added/deleted/modified or
dumped to contain the originating protocol's id.

The protocol is handled just like a routes originating
protocol is.  This is especially useful because there
is starting to be a plethora of different user space
programs adding rules.

Allow the vrf device to specify that the kernel is the originator
of the rule created for this device.

Eric Dumazet 0a6b2a1dc2 tcp: switch to GSO being always on
Oleksandr Natalenko reported performance issues with BBR without FQ
packet scheduler that were root caused to lack of SG and GSO/TSO on
his configuration.

In this mode, TCP internal pacing has to setup a high resolution timer
for each MSS sent.

We could implement in TCP a strategy similar to the one adopted
in commit fefa569a9d ("net_sched: sch_fq: account for schedule/timers drifts")
or decide to finally switch TCP stack to a GSO only mode.

This has many benefits :

1) Most TCP developments are done with TSO in mind.
2) Less high-resolution timers needs to be armed for TCP-pacing
3) GSO can benefit of xmit_more hint
4) Receiver GRO is more effective (as if TSO was used for real on sender)
   -> Lower ACK traffic
5) Write queues have less overhead (one skb holds about 64KB of payload)
6) SACK coalescing just works.
7) rtx rb-tree contains less packets, SACK is cheaper.

This patch implements the minimum patch, but we can remove some legacy
code as follow ups.

Tested:

On 40Gbit link, one netperf -t TCP_STREAM

BBR+fq:
sg on:  26 Gbits/sec
sg off: 15.7 Gbits/sec   (was 2.3 Gbit before patch)

BBR+pfifo_fast:
sg on:  24.2 Gbits/sec
sg off: 14.9 Gbits/sec  (was 0.66 Gbit before patch !!! )

BBR+fq_codel:
sg on:  24.4 Gbits/sec
sg off: 15 Gbits/sec  (was 0.66 Gbit before patch !!! )

This simplifies cleanup queueing and makes cleanup lists
to use llist primitives. Since llist has its own cmpxchg()
ordering, cleanup_list_lock is not more need.

Also, struct llist_node is smaller, than struct list_head,
so we save some bytes in struct net with this patch.

Jakub Kicinski ac5b70198a net: fix race on decreasing number of TX queues
netif_set_real_num_tx_queues() can be called when netdev is up.
That usually happens when user requests change of number of
channels/rings with ethtool -L.  The procedure for changing
the number of queues involves resetting the qdiscs and setting
dev->num_tx_queues to the new value.  When the new value is
lower than the old one, extra care has to be taken to ensure
ordering of accesses to the number of queues vs qdisc reset.

Currently the queues are reset before new dev->num_tx_queues
is assigned, leaving a window of time where packets can be
enqueued onto the queues going down, leading to a likely
crash in the drivers, since most drivers don't check if TX
skbs are assigned to an active queue.

These pernet operations consist of exit() and exit_batch() methods.

default_device_exit() moves not-local and virtual devices to init_net.
There is nothing exciting, because this may happen in any time
on a working system, and rtnl_lock() and synchronize_net() protect
us from all cases of external dereference.

The same for default_device_exit_batch(). Similar unregisteration
may happen in any time on a system. Here several lists (like todo_list),
which are accessed under rtnl_lock(). After rtnl_unlock() and
netdev_run_todo() all the devices are flushed.

The socket is used to send rtnl notification via

in cleanup_net() after net is unhashed from all
the lists and there is no RCU references on it.

This adds new pernet_operations::async flag to indicate operations,
which ->init(), ->exit() and ->exit_batch() methods are allowed
to be executed in parallel with the methods of any other pernet_operations.

When there are only asynchronous pernet_operations in the system,
net_mutex won't be taken for a net construction and destruction.

Kirill Tkhai 1a57feb847 net: Introduce net_sem for protection of pernet_list
Currently, the mutex is mostly used to protect pernet operations
list. It orders setup_net() and cleanup_net() with parallel
{un,}register_pernet_operations() calls, so ->exit{,batch} methods
of the same pernet operations are executed for a dying net, as
were used to call ->init methods, even after the net namespace
is unlinked from net_namespace_list in cleanup_net().

But there are several problems with scalability. The first one
is that more than one net can't be created or destroyed
at the same moment on the node. For big machines with many cpus
running many containers it's very sensitive.

The second one is that it's need to synchronize_rcu() after net
is removed from net_namespace_list():

This primitive is not fast, especially on the systems with many processors
and/or when preemptible RCU is enabled in config. So, all the time, while
cleanup_net() is waiting for RCU grace period, creation of new net namespaces
is not possible, the tasks, who makes it, are sleeping on the same mutex:

I observed 20-30 seconds hangs of "unshare -n" on ordinary 8-cpu laptop
with preemptible RCU enabled after CRIU tests round is finished.

The solution is to convert net_mutex to the rw_semaphore and add fine grain
locks to really small number of pernet_operations, what really need them.

Then, pernet_operations::init/::exit methods, modifying the net-related data,
will require down_read() locking only, while down_write() will be used
for changing pernet_list (i.e., when modules are being loaded and unloaded).

This gives signify performance increase, after all patch set is applied,
like you may see here:

Kirill Tkhai 98f6c533a3 net: Assign net to net_namespace_list in setup_net()
This patch merges two repeating pieces of code in one,
and they will live in setup_net() now.

The only change is that assignment:

	init_net_initialized = true;

becomes reordered with:

	list_add_tail_rcu(&net->list, &net_namespace_list);

The order does not have visible effect, and it is a simple
cleanup because of:

init_net_initialized is used in !CONFIG_NET_NS case
to order proc_net_ns_ops registration occuring at boot time:

	start_kernel()->proc_root_init()->proc_net_init(),
with
	net_ns_init()->setup_net(&init_net, &init_user_ns)

also occuring in boot time from the same init_task.

When there are no another tasks to race with them,
for the single task it does not matter, which order
two sequential independent loads should be made.
So we make them reordered.

All these functions either return a negative error indicator,
or store length of sockaddr into "int *socklen" parameter
and return zero on success.

"int *socklen" parameter is awkward. For example, if caller does not
care, it still needs to provide on-stack storage for the value
it does not need.

None of the many FOO_getname() functions of various protocols
ever used old value of *socklen. They always just overwrite it.

This change drops this parameter, and makes all these functions, on success,
return length of sockaddr. It's always >= 0 and can be differentiated
from an error.

Tests in callers are changed from "if (err)" to "if (err < 0)", where needed.

rpc_sockname() lost "int buflen" parameter, since its only use was
to be passed to kernel_getsockname() as &buflen and subsequently
not used in any way.

Userspace API is not changed.

Kees Cook 79a8a642bf net: Whitelist the skbuff_head_cache "cb" field
Most callers of put_cmsg() use a "sizeof(foo)" for the length argument.
Within put_cmsg(), a copy_to_user() call is made with a dynamic size, as a
result of the cmsg header calculations. This means that hardened usercopy
will examine the copy, even though it was technically a fixed size and
should be implicitly whitelisted. All the put_cmsg() calls being built
from values in skbuff_head_cache are coming out of the protocol-defined
"cb" field, so whitelist this field entirely instead of creating per-use
bounce buffers, for which there are concerns about performance.

Christian Brauner 4ff66cae7f rtnetlink: require unique netns identifier
Since we've added support for IFLA_IF_NETNSID for RTM_{DEL,GET,SET,NEW}LINK
it is possible for userspace to send us requests with three different
properties to identify a target network namespace. This affects at least
RTM_{NEW,SET}LINK. Each of them could potentially refer to a different
network namespace which is confusing. For legacy reasons the kernel will
pick the IFLA_NET_NS_PID property first and then look for the
IFLA_NET_NS_FD property but there is no reason to extend this type of
behavior to network namespace ids. The regression potential is quite
minimal since the rtnetlink requests in question either won't allow
IFLA_IF_NETNSID requests before 4.16 is out (RTM_{NEW,SET}LINK) or don't
support IFLA_NET_NS_{PID,FD} (RTM_{DEL,GET}LINK) in the first place.

Roman Gushchin edbe69ef2c Revert "defer call to mem_cgroup_sk_alloc()"
This patch effectively reverts commit 9f1c2674b3 ("net: memcontrol:
defer call to mem_cgroup_sk_alloc()").

Moving mem_cgroup_sk_alloc() to the inet_csk_accept() completely breaks
memcg socket memory accounting, as packets received before memcg
pointer initialization are not accounted and are causing refcounting
underflow on socket release.

Actually the free-after-use problem was fixed by
commit c0576e3975 ("net: call cgroup_sk_alloc() earlier in
sk_clone_lock()") for the cgroup pointer.

So, let's revert it and call mem_cgroup_sk_alloc() just before
cgroup_sk_alloc(). This is safe, as we hold a reference to the socket
we're cloning, and it holds a reference to the memcg.

Also, let's drop BUG_ON(mem_cgroup_is_root()) check from
mem_cgroup_sk_alloc(). I see no reasons why bumping the root
memcg counter is a good reason to panic, and there are no realistic
ways to hit it.

Eric Dumazet 4db428a7c9 soreuseport: fix mem leak in reuseport_add_sock()
reuseport_add_sock() needs to deal with attaching a socket having
its own sk_reuseport_cb, after a prior
setsockopt(SO_ATTACH_REUSEPORT_?BPF)

Without this fix, not only a WARN_ONCE() was issued, but we were also

If you take a GSO skb, and split it into packets, will the MAC
length (L2 + L3 + L4 headers + payload) of those packets be small
enough to fit within a given length?

 "This introduces a __bitwise type for POLL### bitmap, and propagates
  the annotations through the tree. Most of that stuff is as simple as
  'make ->poll() instances return __poll_t and do the same to local

  Some of the obvious brainos found in process are fixed (e.g. POLLIN
  misspelled as POLL_IN). At that point the amount of sparse warnings is
  low and most of them are for genuine bugs - e.g. ->poll() instance
  deciding to return -EINVAL instead of a bitmap. I hadn't touched those
  in this series - it's large enough as it is.

  Another problem it has caught was eventpoll() ABI mess; select.c and
  eventpoll.c assumed that corresponding POLL### and EPOLL### were
  equal. That's true for some, but not all of them - EPOLL### are
  arch-independent, but POLL### are not.

  The last commit in this series separates userland POLL### values from
  the (now arch-independent) kernel-side ones, converting between them
  in the few places where they are copied to/from userland. AFAICS, this
  is the least disruptive fix preserving poll(2) ABI and making epoll()
  work on all architectures.

  As it is, it's simply broken on sparc - try to give it EPOLLWRNORM and
  it will trigger only on what would've triggered EPOLLWRBAND on other
  architectures. EPOLLWRBAND and EPOLLRDHUP, OTOH, are never triggered
  at all on sparc. With this patch they should work consistently on all
  architectures"

Eric Dumazet 40ca54e3a6 net_sched: gen_estimator: fix lockdep splat
syzbot reported a lockdep splat in gen_new_estimator() /
est_fetch_counters() when attempting to lock est->stats_lock.

Since est_fetch_counters() is called from BH context from timer
interrupt, we need to block BH as well when calling it from process
context.

Most qdiscs use per cpu counters and are immune to the problem,
but net/sched/act_api.c and net/netfilter/xt_RATEEST.c are using
a spinlock to protect their data. They both call gen_new_estimator()
while object is created and not yet alive, so this bug could
not trigger a deadlock, only a lockdep splat.

Cong Wang 48bfd55e7e net_sched: plug in qdisc ops change_tx_queue_len
Introduce a new qdisc ops ->change_tx_queue_len() so that
each qdisc could decide how to implement this if it wants.
Previously we simply read dev->tx_queue_len, after pfifo_fast
switches to skb array, we need this API to resize the skb array
when we change dev->tx_queue_len.

To avoid handling race conditions with TX BH, we need to
deactivate all TX queues before change the value and bring them
back after we are done, this also makes implementation easier.

Christian Brauner 7c4f63ba82 rtnetlink: enable IFLA_IF_NETNSID in do_setlink()
RTM_{NEW,SET}LINK already allow operations on other network namespaces
by identifying the target network namespace through IFLA_NET_NS_{FD,PID}
properties. This is done by looking for the corresponding properties in
do_setlink(). Extend do_setlink() to also look for the IFLA_IF_NETNSID
property. This introduces no functional changes since all callers of
do_setlink() currently block IFLA_IF_NETNSID by reporting an error before
they reach do_setlink().

This introduces the helpers:

Basically what happens is that in the subprog we make use of a
div/mod by 0 exception and in the 'normal' subprog's exit path
we just return skb->data back to the main prog. This has the
implication that the verifier thinks we always get a pkt pointer
in R0 while we still have the implicit 'return 0' from the div
as an alternative unconditional return path earlier. Thus, R0
then contains 0, meaning back in the parent prog we get the
address range of [0x0, skb->data_end] as read and writeable.
Similar can be crafted with other pointer register types.

Since i) BPF_ABS/IND is not allowed in programs that contain
BPF to BPF calls (and generally it's also disadvised to use in
native eBPF context), ii) unknown opcodes don't return zero
anymore, iii) we don't return an exception code in dead branches,
the only last missing case affected and to fix is the div/mod
handling.

What we would really need is some infrastructure to propagate
exceptions all the way to the original prog unwinding the
current stack and returning that code to the caller of the
BPF program. In user space such exception handling for similar
runtimes is typically implemented with setjmp(3) and longjmp(3)
as one possibility which is not available in the kernel,
though (kgdb used to implement it in kernel long time ago). I
implemented a PoC exception handling mechanism into the BPF
interpreter with porting setjmp()/longjmp() into x86_64 and
adding a new internal BPF_ABRT opcode that can use a program
specific exception code for all exception cases we have (e.g.
div/mod by 0, unknown opcodes, etc). While this seems to work
in the constrained BPF environment (meaning, here, we don't
need to deal with state e.g. from memory allocations that we
would need to undo before going into exception state), it still
has various drawbacks: i) we would need to implement the
setjmp()/longjmp() for every arch supported in the kernel and
for x86_64, arm64, sparc64 JITs currently supporting calls,
ii) it has unconditional additional cost on main program
entry to store CPU register state in initial setjmp() call,
and we would need some way to pass the jmp_buf down into
___bpf_prog_run() for main prog and all subprogs, but also
storing on stack is not really nice (other option would be
per-cpu storage for this, but it also has the drawback that
we need to disable preemption for every BPF program types).
All in all this approach would add a lot of complexity.

Another poor-man's solution would be to have some sort of
additional shared register or scratch buffer to hold state
for exceptions, and test that after every call return to
chain returns and pass R0 all the way down to BPF prog caller.
This is also problematic in various ways: i) an additional
register doesn't map well into JITs, and some other scratch
space could only be on per-cpu storage, which, again has the
side-effect that this only works when we disable preemption,
or somewhere in the input context which is not available
everywhere either, and ii) this adds significant runtime
overhead by putting conditionals after each and every call,
as well as implementation complexity.

Yet another option is to teach verifier that div/mod can
return an integer, which however is also complex to implement
as verifier would need to walk such fake 'mov r0,<code>; exit;'
sequeuence and there would still be no guarantee for having
propagation of this further down to the BPF caller as proper
exception code. For parent prog, it is also is not distinguishable
from a normal return of a constant scalar value.

The approach taken here is a completely different one with
little complexity and no additional overhead involved in
that we make use of the fact that a div/mod by 0 is undefined
behavior. Instead of bailing out, we adapt the same behavior
as on some major archs like ARMv8 [0] into eBPF as well:
X div 0 results in 0, and X mod 0 results in X. aarch64 and
aarch32 ISA do not generate any traps or otherwise aborts
of program execution for unsigned divides. I verified this
also with a test program compiled by gcc and clang, and the
behavior matches with the spec. Going forward we adapt the
eBPF verifier to emit such rewrites once div/mod by register
was seen. cBPF is not touched and will keep existing 'return 0'
semantics. Given the options, it seems the most suitable from
all of them, also since major archs have similar schemes in
place. Given this is all in the realm of undefined behavior,
we still have the option to adapt if deemed necessary and
this way we would also have the option of more flexibility
from LLVM code generation side (which is then fully visible
to verifier). Thus, this patch i) fixes the panic seen in
above program and ii) doesn't bypass the verifier observations.

use is to determine if there should be calls to sock_ops bpf program at
various points in the TCP code. The field is initialized to zero,
disabling the calls. A sock_ops BPF program can set it, per connection and
as necessary, when the connection is established.

It also adds support for reading and writting the field within a
sock_ops BPF program. Reading is done by accessing the field directly.
However, writing is done through the helper function
bpf_sock_ops_cb_flags_set, in order to return an error if a BPF program
is trying to set a callback that is not supported in the current kernel
(i.e. running an older kernel). The helper function returns 0 if it was
able to set all of the bits set in the argument, a positive number
containing the bits that could not be set, or -EINVAL if the socket is
not a full TCP socket.

Examples of where one could call the bpf program:

1) When RTO fires
2) When a packet is retransmitted
3) When the connection terminates
4) When a packet is sent
5) When a packet is received

Lawrence Brakmo b73042b8a2 bpf: Add write access to tcp_sock and sock fields
This patch adds a macro, SOCK_OPS_SET_FIELD, for writing to
struct tcp_sock or struct sock fields. This required adding a new
field "temp" to struct bpf_sock_ops_kern for temporary storage that
is used by sock_ops_convert_ctx_access. It is used to store and recover
the contents of a register, so the register can be used to store the
address of the sk. Since we cannot overwrite the dst_reg because it
contains the pointer to ctx, nor the src_reg since it contains the value
we want to store, we need an extra register to contain the address
of the sk.

Also adds the macro SOCK_OPS_GET_OR_SET_FIELD that calls one of the
GET or SET macros depending on the value of the TYPE field.

Lawrence Brakmo 34d367c592 bpf: Make SOCK_OPS_GET_TCP struct independent
Changed SOCK_OPS_GET_TCP to SOCK_OPS_GET_FIELD and added 2
arguments so now it can also work with struct sock fields.
The first argument is the name of the field in the bpf_sock_ops
struct, the 2nd argument is the name of the field in the OBJ struct.

Previous: SOCK_OPS_GET_TCP(FIELD_NAME)
New:      SOCK_OPS_GET_FIELD(BPF_FIELD, OBJ_FIELD, OBJ)

Where OBJ is either "struct tcp_sock" or "struct sock" (without
quotation). BPF_FIELD is the name of the field in the bpf_sock_ops
struct and OBJ_FIELD is the name of the field in the OBJ struct.

Although the field names are currently the same, the kernel struct names
could change in the future and this change makes it easier to support
that.

Note that adding access to tcp_sock fields in sock_ops programs does
not preclude the tcp_sock fields from being removed as long as we are
willing to do one of the following:

  1) Return a fixed value (e.x. 0 or 0xffffffff), or
  2) Make the verifier fail if that field is accessed (i.e. program
    fails to load) so the user will know that field is no longer
    supported.

Currently, a sock_ops BPF program can write the op field and all the
reply fields (reply and replylong). This is a bug. The op field should
not have been writeable and there is currently no way to use replylong
field for indices >= 1. This patch enforces that only the reply field
(which equals replylong[0]) is writeable.

Kirill Tkhai fb07a820fe net: Move net:netns_ids destruction out of rtnl_lock() and document locking scheme
Currently, we unhash a dying net from netns_ids lists
under rtnl_lock(). It's a leftover from the time when
net::netns_ids was introduced. There was no net::nsid_lock,
and rtnl_lock() was mostly need to order modification
of alive nets nsid idr, i.e. for:
	for_each_net(tmp) {
		...
		id = __peernet2id(tmp, net);
		idr_remove(&tmp->netns_ids, id);
		...
	}

Since we have net::nsid_lock, the modifications are
protected by this local lock, and now we may introduce
better scheme of netns_ids destruction.

Let's look at the functions peernet2id_alloc() and
get_net_ns_by_id(). Previous commits taught these
functions to work well with dying net acquired from
rtnl unlocked lists. And they are the only functions
which can hash a net to netns_ids or obtain from there.
And as easy to check, other netns_ids operating functions
works with id, not with net pointers. So, we do not
need rtnl_lock to synchronize cleanup_net() with all them.

The another property, which is used in the patch,
is that net is unhashed from net_namespace_list
in the only place and by the only process. So,
we avoid excess rcu_read_lock() or rtnl_lock(),
when we'are iterating over the list in unhash_nsid().

All the above makes possible to keep rtnl_lock() locked
only for net->list deletion, and completely avoid it
for netns_ids unhashing and destruction. As these two
doings may take long time (e.g., memory allocation
to send skb), the patch should positively act on
the scalability and signify decrease the time, which
rtnl_lock() is held in cleanup_net().

Only two of dev_ioctl() callers may pass SIOCGIFCONF to it.
Separating that codepath from the rest of dev_ioctl() allows both
to simplify dev_ioctl() itself (all other cases work with struct ifreq *)
*and* seriously simplify the compat side of that beast: all it takes
is passing to inet_gifconf() an extra argument - the size of individual
records (sizeof(struct ifreq) or sizeof(struct compat_ifreq)).  With
dev_ifconf() called directly from sock_do_ioctl()/compat_dev_ifconf()
that's easy to arrange.

As the result, compat side of SIOCGIFCONF doesn't need any
allocations, copy_in_user() back and forth, etc.

It takes 1sec for bond link down notification to hit user-space
when all slaves of the bond go down. 1sec is too long for
protocol daemons in user-space relying on bond notification
to recover (eg: multichassis lag implementations in user-space).
Since the link event code already marks team device port link events
 as urgent, this patch moves the code to cover all lag ports and master.

Eric Dumazet 7c68d1a6b4 net: qdisc_pkt_len_init() should be more robust
Without proper validation of DODGY packets, we might very well
feed qdisc_pkt_len_init() with invalid GSO packets.

tcp_hdrlen() might access out-of-bound data, so let's use
skb_header_pointer() and proper checks.

Whole story is described in commit d0c081b491 ("flow_dissector:
properly cap thoff field")

We have the goal of validating DODGY packets earlier in the stack,
so we might very well revert this fix in the future.

Daniel Borkmann 2e4a30983b bpf: restrict access to core bpf sysctls
Given BPF reaches far beyond just networking these days, it was
never intended to allow setting and in some cases reading those
knobs out of a user namespace root running without CAP_SYS_ADMIN,
thus tighten such access.

Also the bpf_jit_enable = 2 debugging mode should only be allowed
if kptr_restrict is not set since it otherwise can leak addresses
to the kernel log. Dump a note to the kernel log that this is for
debugging JITs only when enabled.

Daniel Borkmann fa9dd599b4 bpf: get rid of pure_initcall dependency to enable jits
Having a pure_initcall() callback just to permanently enable BPF
JITs under CONFIG_BPF_JIT_ALWAYS_ON is unnecessary and could leave
a small race window in future where JIT is still disabled on boot.
Since we know about the setting at compilation time anyway, just
initialize it properly there. Also consolidate all the individual
bpf_jit_enable variables into a single one and move them under one
location. Moreover, don't allow for setting unspecified garbage
values on them.

Eric Dumazet d0c081b491 flow_dissector: properly cap thoff field
syzbot reported yet another crash [1] that is caused by
insufficient validation of DODGY packets.

Two bugs are happening here to trigger the crash.

1) Flow dissection leaves with incorrect thoff field.

2) skb_probe_transport_header() sets transport header to this invalid
thoff, even if pointing after skb valid data.

3) qdisc_pkt_len_init() reads out-of-bound data because it
trusts tcp_hdrlen(skb)

Possible fixes :

- Full flow dissector validation before injecting bad DODGY packets in
the stack.
 This approach was attempted here : https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/
861874/

- Have more robust functions in the core.
  This might be needed anyway for stable versions.

This patch fixes the flow dissection issue.

is generic interface, and better we fix it before someone really starts

Arkadi Sharshevsky d9f9b9a4d0 devlink: Add support for resource abstraction
Add support for hardware resource abstraction over devlink. Each resource
is identified via id, furthermore it contains information regarding its
size and its related sub resources. Each resource can also provide its
current occupancy.

In some cases the sizes of some resources can be changed, yet for those
changes to take place a hot driver reload may be needed. The reload
capability will be introduced in the next patch.

This is a preparation before introducing resources and hot reload support.
Currently there are two global lock where one protects all devlink access,
and the second one protects devlink port access. This patch adds per devlink
instance lock which protects the internal members which are the sb/dpipe/
resource/ports. By introducing this lock the global devlink port lock can
be discarded.

David Windsor 30c2c9f158 net: Define usercopy region in struct proto slab cache
In support of usercopy hardening, this patch defines a region in the
struct proto slab cache in which userspace copy operations are allowed.
Some protocols need to copy objects to/from userspace, and they can
declare the region via their proto structure with the new usersize and
useroffset fields. Initially, if no region is specified (usersize ==
0), the entire field is marked as whitelisted. This allows protocols
to be whitelisted in subsequent patches. Once all protocols have been
annotated, the full-whitelist default can be removed.

This region is known as the slab cache's usercopy region. Slab caches
can now check that each dynamically sized copy operation involving
cache-managed memory falls entirely within the slab's usercopy region.

This patch is modified from Brad Spengler/PaX Team's PAX_USERCOPY

Kirill Tkhai 273c28bc57 net: Convert atomic_t net::count to refcount_t
Since net could be obtained from RCU lists,
and there is a race with net destruction,
the patch converts net::count to refcount_t.

This provides sanity checks for the cases of
incrementing counter of already dead net,
when maybe_get_net() has to used instead

an error back up and fail immediately.

Alexei Starovoitov 290af86629 bpf: introduce BPF_JIT_ALWAYS_ON config
The BPF interpreter has been used as part of the spectre 2 attack CVE-2017-5715.

A quote from goolge project zero blog:
"At this point, it would normally be necessary to locate gadgets in
the host kernel code that can be used to actually leak data by reading
from an attacker-controlled location, shifting and masking the result
appropriately and then using the result of that as offset to an
attacker-controlled address for a load. But piecing gadgets together
and figuring out which ones work in a speculation context seems annoying.
So instead, we decided to use the eBPF interpreter, which is built into
the host kernel - while there is no legitimate way to invoke it from inside
a VM, the presence of the code in the host kernel's text section is sufficient
to make it usable for the attack, just like with ordinary ROP gadgets."

To make attacker job harder introduce BPF_JIT_ALWAYS_ON config
option that removes interpreter from the kernel in favor of JIT-only mode.
So far eBPF JIT is supported by:
x64, arm64, arm32, sparc64, s390, powerpc64, mips64

The start of JITed program is randomized and code page is marked as read-only.
In addition "constant blinding" can be turned on with net.core.bpf_jit_harden

Jesper Dangaard Brouer 02dd3291b2 bpf: finally expose xdp_rxq_info to XDP bpf-programs
Now all XDP driver have been updated to setup xdp_rxq_info and assign
this to xdp_buff->rxq.  Thus, it is now safe to enable access to some
of the xdp_rxq_info struct members.

This patch extend xdp_md and expose UAPI to userspace for
ingress_ifindex and rx_queue_index.  Access happens via bpf
instruction rewrite, that load data directly from struct xdp_rxq_info.

The net_device have some members (num_rx_queues + real_num_rx_queues)
and data-area (dev->_rx with struct netdev_rx_queue's) that were
primarily used for exporting information about RPS (CONFIG_RPS) queues

For generic XDP extend struct netdev_rx_queue with the xdp_rxq_info,
and remove some of the CONFIG_SYSFS ifdefs.

Jesper Dangaard Brouer c0124f327e xdp/qede: setup xdp_rxq_info and intro xdp_rxq_info_is_reg
The driver code qede_free_fp_array() depend on kfree() can be called
with a NULL pointer. This stems from the qede_alloc_fp_array()
function which either (kz)alloc memory for fp->txq or fp->rxq.
This also simplifies error handling code in case of memory allocation
failures, but xdp_rxq_info_unreg need to know the difference.

Introduce xdp_rxq_info_is_reg() to handle if a memory allocation fails
and detect this is the failure path by seeing that xdp_rxq_info was
not registred yet, which first happens after successful alloaction in
qede_init_fp().

Driver hook points for xdp_rxq_info:
 * reg  : qede_init_fp
 * unreg: qede_free_fp_array

Tested on actual hardware with samples/bpf program.

V2: Driver have no proper error path for failed XDP RX-queue info reg, as
qede_init_fp() is a void function.

Jesper Dangaard Brouer aecd67b607 xdp: base API for new XDP rx-queue info concept
This patch only introduce the core data structures and API functions.
All XDP enabled drivers must use the API before this info can used.

There is a need for XDP to know more about the RX-queue a given XDP
frames have arrived on.  For both the XDP bpf-prog and kernel side.

Instead of extending xdp_buff each time new info is needed, the patch
creates a separate read-mostly struct xdp_rxq_info, that contains this
info.  We stress this data/cache-line is for read-only info.  This is
NOT for dynamic per packet info, use the data_meta for such use-cases.

The performance advantage is this info can be setup at RX-ring init
time, instead of updating N-members in xdp_buff.  A possible (driver
level) micro optimization is that xdp_buff->rxq assignment could be
done once per XDP/NAPI loop.  The extra pointer deref only happens for
program needing access to this info (thus, no slowdown to existing
use-cases).

Andrei Vagin f428fe4a04 rtnetlink: give a user socket to get_target_net()
This function is used from two places: rtnl_dump_ifinfo and
rtnl_getlink. In rtnl_getlink(), we give a request skb into
get_target_net(), but in rtnl_dump_ifinfo, we give a response skb
into get_target_net().
The problem here is that NETLINK_CB() isn't initialized for the response
skb. In both cases we can get a user socket and give it instead of skb
into get_target_net().

This bug was found by syzkaller with this call-trace:

Stephen Hemminger 71891e2dab ethtool: do not print warning for applications using legacy API
In kernel log ths message appears on every boot:
 "warning: `NetworkChangeNo' uses legacy ethtool link settings API,
  link modes are only partially reported"

When ethtool link settings API changed, it started complaining about
usages of old API. Ironically, the original patch was from google but
the application using the legacy API is chrome.

Linux ABI is fixed as much as possible. The kernel must not break it
and should not complain about applications using legacy API's.
This patch just removes the warning since using legacy API's
in Linux is perfectly acceptable.

This reverts commit 87c320e515.

Changing the error return code in some situations turns out to
be harmful in practice.  In particular Michael Ellerman reports
that DHCP fails on his powerpc machines, and this revert gets
things working again.

Johannes Berg agrees that this revert is the best course of
action for now.

Willem de Bruijn f72c4ac695 skbuff: in skb_copy_ubufs unclone before releasing zerocopy
skb_copy_ubufs must unclone before it is safe to modify its
skb_shared_info with skb_zcopy_clear.

Commit b90ddd5687 ("skbuff: skb_copy_ubufs must release uarg even
without user frags") ensures that all skbs release their zerocopy
state, even those without frags.

But I forgot an edge case where such an skb arrives that is cloned.

The stack does not build such packets. Vhost/tun skbs have their
frags orphaned before cloning. TCP skbs only attach zerocopy state
when a frag is added.

But if TCP packets can be trimmed or linearized, this might occur.
Tracing the code I found no instance so far (e.g., skb_linearize
ends up calling skb_zcopy_clear if !skb->data_len).

Still, it is non-obvious that no path exists. And it is fragile to
rely on this.

Willem de Bruijn bf5c25d608 skbuff: in skb_segment, call zerocopy functions once per nskb
This is a net-next follow-up to commit 268b790679 ("skbuff: orphan
frags before zerocopy clone"), which fixed a bug in net, but added a
call to skb_zerocopy_clone at each frag to do so.

When segmenting skbs with user frags, either the user frags must be
replaced with private copies and uarg released, or the uarg must have
its refcount increased for each new skb.

skb_orphan_frags does the first, except for cases that can handle
reference counting. skb_zerocopy_clone then does the second.

Call these once per nskb, instead of once per frag.

That is, in the common case. With a frag list, also refresh when the
origin skb (frag_skb) changes.

The batman-adv unicast packets contain a full layer 2 frame in encapsulated
form. The flow dissector must therefore be able to parse the batman-adv
unicast header to reach the layer 2+3 information.

Willem de Bruijn 268b790679 skbuff: orphan frags before zerocopy clone
Call skb_zerocopy_clone after skb_orphan_frags, to avoid duplicate
calls to skb_uarg(skb)->callback for the same data.

skb_zerocopy_clone associates skb_shinfo(skb)->uarg from frag_skb
with each segment. This is only safe for uargs that do refcounting,
which is those that pass skb_orphan_frags without dropping their
shared frags. For others, skb_orphan_frags drops the user frags and
sets the uarg to NULL, after which sock_zerocopy_clone has no effect.

Qemu hangs were reported due to duplicate vhost_net_zerocopy_callback
calls for the same data causing the vhost_net_ubuf_ref_>refcount to
drop below zero.

(I can trivially verify that that idr_remove in cleanup_net happens
 after the network namespace count has dropped to zero --EWB)

Function get_net_ns_by_id() does not check for net::count
after it has found a peer in netns_ids idr.

It may dereference a peer, after its count has already been

Also, put_net() on the right cpu may reorder with left's cpu
list_replace_init(&cleanup_list, ..), and then cleanup_list
will be corrupted.

Since cleanup_net() is executed in worker thread, while
put_net(peer) can happen everywhere, there should be
enough time for concurrent get_net_ns_by_id() to pick
the peer up, and the race does not seem to be unlikely.
The patch fixes the problem in standard way.

(Also, there is possible problem in peernet2id_alloc(), which requires
check for net::count under nsid_lock and maybe_get_net(peer), but
in current stable kernel it's used under rtnl_lock() and it has to be
safe. Openswitch begun to use peernet2id_alloc(), and possibly it should
be fixed too. While this is not in stable kernel yet, so I'll send
a separate message to netdev@ later).

Michael Chan fb1f5f79ae net: Introduce NETIF_F_GRO_HW.
Introduce NETIF_F_GRO_HW feature flag for NICs that support hardware
GRO.  With this flag, we can now independently turn on or off hardware
GRO when GRO is on.  Previously, drivers were using NETIF_F_GRO to
control hardware GRO and so it cannot be independently turned on or
off without affecting GRO.

Hardware GRO (just like GRO) guarantees that packets can be re-segmented
by TSO/GSO to reconstruct the original packet stream.  Logically,
GRO_HW should depend on GRO since it a subset, but we will let
individual drivers enforce this dependency as they see fit.

Since NETIF_F_GRO is not propagated between upper and lower devices,
NETIF_F_GRO_HW should follow suit since it is a subset of GRO.  In other
words, a lower device can independent have GRO/GRO_HW enabled or disabled
and no feature propagation is required.  This will preserve the current
GRO behavior.  This can be changed later if we decide to propagate GRO/
GRO_HW/RXCSUM from upper to lower devices.
