The flexible array in the USBH platform data is not safe to copy. The
compiler will not allocate any extra memory for the non-init platform
data structure (in the *_devices.c files) since it isn't given any
defaults at compile time. When the probe function attempts to address
that array, it will actually attempt to access data in an adjacent
structure.
Since there are currently no (known) implementations of the at91 USBH
IP with more than 2 vbus pins, I am capping the value at 2. If somebody
tries to assign more, then the compiler will produce a warning.

Xen leaves XSAVE set in cpuid, but doesn't allow cr4.OSXSAVE
to be set. This confuses the kernel and it ends up crashing on
an xsetbv instruction.
At boot time, try to set cr4.OSXSAVE, and mask XSAVE out of
cpuid it we can't. This will produce a spurious error from Xen,
but allows us to support XSAVE if/when Xen does.
This also factors out the cpuid mask decisions to boot time.

The rewrite of the setup code into C resequenced the font setting and
register reprogramming phases of configuring nonstandard VGA modes
which use 480 scan lines in text mode. However, there exists at least
one board (Micro-Star MS-7383 version 2.0) on which this resequencing
causes an unusable display.
Revert to the original sequencing: set up 480-line mode, install the
font, and then adjust the vertical end register appropriately.
This failure was masked by the fact that the 480-line setup was broken
until checkin 5f64135612 (therefore this
is not a -stable candidate bug fix.)

1. Rewrite of the non-dma data transfer functions to use only ONE mode
of TIMOD (TIMOD=0x1). With TIMOD=0, it was not possible to set the TX
bit pattern. So the TDBR = 0xFFFF inside the read calls won't work.
2. Clear SPI_RDBR before reading and before duplex transfer.
Otherwise the garbage data in RDBR will get read. Since mmc_spi uses a
lot of duplex transfers, this is the main cause of mmc_spi failure.
3. Poll RXS for transfer completion. Polling SPIF or TXS cannot
guarantee transfer completion. This may interrupt a transfer before it
is finished. Also this may leave garbage data in buffer and affect
next transfer.

The platform data for the i2c-s3c2410 driver used to allow a min,

to simply a desired frequency ceiling and corrects all the uses
of the platform data appropriately.
This means, for example, that on a system with a 66MHz fclk, a
request for 100KHz will achieve 65KHz which is safe and
acceptable, rather than 378KHz which it would have achieved

The ptrace compat wrapper mishandles access to the fpu registers. The

When we call giveup_fpu, we need to need to turn off VSX for the
current process. If we don't, on return to userspace it may execute a
VSX instruction before the next FP instruction, and not have its
register state refreshed correctly from the thread_struct. Ditto for
altivec.
This caused a bug where an unaligned lfs or stfs results in
fix_alignment calling giveup_fpu so it can use the FPRs (in order to
do a single <-> double conversion), and then returning to userspace
with FP off but VSX on. Then if a VSX instruction is executed, before
another FP instruction, it will proceed without another exception and
hence have the incorrect register state for VSX registers 0-31.
lfs unaligned <- alignment exception turns FP off but leaves VSX on
VSX instruction <- no exception since VSX on, hence we get the
wrong VSX register values for VSX registers 0-31,
which overlap the FPRs.

CoreInt provides a mechansim to deliver the IRQ vector directly
into the core on an interrupt (via the SPR EPR) rather than having
to go IACK on the PIC. This is suppose to provide an improvment
in interrupt latency by reducing the time to get the IRQ vector.

PCI still doesn't work on sh7785lcr 29bit 256M map mode.
On SH7785, PCI -> SHwy address translation is not base+offset but
somewhat like base|offset (See HW Manual (rej09b0261) Fig. 13.11).
So, you can't export CS2,3,4,5 by 256M at CS2 (results CS0,1,2,3
exported, I guess). There are two candidates.
a) 128M@CS2 + 128M@CS4
b) 512M@CS0
Attached patch is B. It maps 512M Byte at 0 independently of memory
size. It results CS0 to CS6 and perhaps some more being accessible
from PCI.

There were a number of issues with the DSP context save/restore code,
mostly left-over relics from when it was introduced on SH3-DSP with
little follow-up testing, resulting in things like task_pt_dspregs()
referencing incorrect state on the stack.
This follows the MIPS convention of tracking the DSP state in the
thread_struct and handling the state save/restore in switch_to() and
finish_arch_switch() respectively. The regset interface is also updated,
which allows us to finally be rid of task_pt_dspregs() and the special
cased task_pt_regs().

All logical processors with APIC ID values of 255 and greater will have their
APIC reported through Processor X2APIC structure (type-9 entry type) and all
logical processors with APIC ID less than 255 will have their APIC reported
through legacy Processor Local APIC (type-0 entry type) only. This is the
same case even for NMI structure reporting.
The Processor X2APIC Affinity structure provides the association between the
X2APIC ID of a logical processor and the proximity domain to which the logical
processor belongs.
For OSPM, Procssor IDs outside the 0-254 range are to be declared as Device()
objects in the ACPI namespace.

pci mmap code was doing memtype reserve for a while now. Recently we
added memtype tracking in remap_pfn_range, and pci code indirectly calls
remap_pfn_range. So, we don't need seperate tracking in pci code
anymore. Which means a patch that removes ~50 lines of code :-).
Also, recently we found out that the pci tracking is not working as we expect
it to work in some cases. Specifically, userlevel X mmap of pci, with some
recent version of X, is having a problem with vm_page_prot getting reset.
The pci tracking uses vm_page_prot to pass on the protection type from parent
to child during fork.
a) Parent does a pci mmap
b) We look at PAT and get either UC_MINUS or WC mapping for parent
c) Store that mapping type in vma vm_page_prot for future use
d) This thread does a fork
e) Fork results in mmap_ops ->open for the child process
f) We get the vm_page_prot from vma and reserve that type for the child process
But, between c) and e) above, the vma vm_page_prot is getting reset to zero.
This results in PAT reserve failing at the time of fork as in here.
http://marc.info/?l=linux-kernel&m=123858163103240&w=2
This cleanup makes the above problem go away as we do not depend on
vm_page_prot in our PAT code anymore.

The __restore_processor_state() fn restores %gs on resume from S3. As
such, it cannot be protected by the stack-protector guard since %gs will
not be correct on function entry.
There are only a few other fns in this file and it should not negatively
impact kernel security that they will also have the stack-protector
guard removed (and so it's not worth moving them to another file).

Impact: unification of pci-dma macros and pci_32.h removal
This patch unifies the definition of the pci_unmap_addr*, pci_unmap_len*
and DECLARE_PCI_UNMAP* macros. This makes sense because the pci_unmap
functions are no longer no-ops anymore when the kernel runs with
CONFIG_DMA_API_DEBUG. Without an iommu or DMA_API_DEBUG it is a no-op on 32 bit
because the dma mapping path returns a physical address and therefore the
dma-api implementation has no internal state which needs to be destroyed with
an unmap call.
This unification also simplifies the port of x86_64 iommu drivers to 32 bit x86

xtensa platforms. Remove the facility completely.

The current assumption of the memory code is that the first RAM PFN in
the system is 0.
Adjust the relevant code to play well with setups where memory starts
at higher addresses, indicated by PLATFORM_DEFAULT_MEM_START.
The new memory model looks like this:
+----------+--+----------------------+----------------+
| | | | |
| | | RAM | |
| | | | |
+----------+--+----------------------+----------------+
| | | | |
+- PFN 0 | +- min_low_pfn +- max_low_pfn +- max_pfn
|
+- ARCH_PFN_OFFSET
+- PLATFORM_DEFAULT_MEM_START >> PAGE_SIZE
The memory map contains pages starting from pfn ARCH_PFN_OFFSET up to
max_low_pfn. The only zone used right now will span exactly the same
region.
Usually, ARCH_PFN_OFFSET and min_low_pfn are the same value. Handle
them separately for robustness. Gapping pages will be in the memory
map but marked as reserved and won't be touched.

This patch adds preadv and pwritev system calls. These syscalls are a
pretty straightforward combination of pread and readv (same for write).
They are quite useful for doing vectored I/O in threaded applications.
Using lseek+readv instead opens race windows you'll have to plug with
locking.
Other systems have such system calls too, for example NetBSD, check
here: http://www.daemon-systems.org/man/preadv.2.html
The application-visible interface provided by glibc should look like
this to be compatible to the existing implementations in the *BSD family:
ssize_t preadv(int d, const struct iovec *iov, int iovcnt, off_t offset);
ssize_t pwritev(int d, const struct iovec *iov, int iovcnt, off_t offset);
This prototype has one problem though: On 32bit archs is the (64bit)
offset argument unaligned, which the syscall ABI of several archs doesn't
allow to do. At least s390 needs a wrapper in glibc to handle this. As
we'll need a wrappers in glibc anyway I've decided to push problem to
glibc entriely and use a syscall prototype which works without
arch-specific wrappers inside the kernel: The offset argument is
explicitly splitted into two 32bit values.
The patch sports the actual system call implementation and the windup in
the x86 system call tables. Other archs follow as separate patches.

Container-init must behave like global-init to processes within the
container and hence it must be immune to unhandled fatal signals from
within the container (i.e SIG_DFL signals that terminate the process).
But the same container-init must behave like a normal process to processes
in ancestor namespaces and so if it receives the same fatal signal from a
process in ancestor namespace, the signal must be processed.
Implementing these semantics requires that send_signal() determine pid
namespace of the sender but since signals can originate from workqueues/
interrupt-handlers, determining pid namespace of sender may not always be
possible or safe.
This patchset implements the design/simplified semantics suggested by
Oleg Nesterov. The simplified semantics for container-init are:
- container-init must never be terminated by a signal from a
descendant process.
- container-init must never be immune to SIGKILL from an ancestor
namespace (so a process in parent namespace must always be able
to terminate a descendant container).
- container-init may be immune to unhandled fatal signals (like
SIGUSR1) even if they are from ancestor namespace. SIGKILL/SIGSTOP
are the only reliable signals to a container-init from ancestor
namespace.
This patch:
Based on an earlier patch submitted by Oleg Nesterov and comments from
Roland McGrath (http://lkml.org/lkml/2008/11/19/258).
The handler parameter is currently unused in the tracehook functions.
Besides, the tracehook functions are called with siglock held, so the
functions can check the handler if they later need to.
Removing the parameter simiplifies changes to sig_ignored() in a follow-on
patch.

It is a fairly common operation to have a pointer to a work and to need a
pointer to the delayed work it is contained in. In particular, all
delayed works which want to rearm themselves will have to do that. So it
