These are updates for platform specific code on 32-bit ARM machines,
essentially anything that can not (yet) be expressed using DT files.
Noteworthy changes include:
- Added support for the TI DRA71x family of SoCs in mach-omap2,
this is an new variant of the the DRA72x/DRA74x automotive
infotainment chips we already supported for a while.
- Added support for the ST STM32F746 SoC, the first Cortex-M7
based microcontroller we support, related to the smaller
STM32F4 family.
- Renesas adds support for r8a7743 and r8a7745 in mach-shmobile,
see http://elinux.org/RZ-G
- SMP is now supported on the OX820 platform
- A lot of code in mach-omap2 gets removed as a follow-up to
removing support for board files in the previous release
- Davinci has some new work to improve USB support
- For i.MX, the performance monitor now supports profiling the
memory controller using 'perf'
Conflicts:
arch/arm/mach-shmobile/setup-rcar-gen2.c: rcar_gen2_clocks_init()
is gone, calling of_clk_init(NULL) is sufficient now.

Instead of having the smc91x driver relying on machine_is_*() calls,
provide this data through platform data, ie. idp, mainstone and
stargate.
This way, the driver doesn't need anymore machine_is_*() calls, which
wouldn't work anymore with a device-tree build.

The method to acquire the input interrupt was working in a platform data
based board, but was failing in a device-tree one when the gpio
controller was probed after pxa_cplds.
Use platform_get_irq() to benefit from the probe deferral
mechanism. Moreover, as seen in dm9000.c development, platform_get_irq()
doesn't honor the irq type IO resource (ie. edge rising for example),
and it must be passed again at irq request in a not device-tree build,
hence the irq_get_trigger_type() call.

As both pxa and sa1100 provide a clock to the timer, the rate can be
inferred from the clock rather than hard encoded in a functional call.
This patch changes the pxa timer to have a mandatory clock which is used

- Do away with the last users of the obsolete Kconfig options
ARCH_REQUIRE_GPIOLIB and ARCH_WANT_OPTIONAL_GPIOLIB (the latter
always sounded like an item on a wishlist to Santa Claus to
me). We can now select GPIOLIB and be done with it, for all
archs. After some struggle it even work on UM. Not that it has
GPIO, but if it wants to, it can select the library.
- Continued efforts to make drivers properly either tristate or
bool.
- Introduce a warning for drivers assigning default triggers to
their irqchip lines when probed from device tree, so we find and
fix these ambigous drivers. It is agreed that in the OF config
path, the device tree defines trigger characteristics.
- The same warning, mutatis mutandis, for ACPI-probed GPIO
irqchips.
- We introduce the ability to mark certain IRQ lines as "unusable"
as they can be taken by BIOS/firmware, unrouted in silicon and
generally nasty if you use them, and such things. This is
put to good use in the STMPE driver and also in the Cherryview
pin control driver.
- A new "mockup" virtual GPIO device that can be used for testing.
The plan is to add unit tests under tools/* for exercising this
device and verify that the kernel code paths are working as they
should.
- Make memory-mapped I/O-drivers depend on HAS_IOMEM. This was
implicit all the time, but when people started building UM
with allyesconfig or allmodconfig it exploded in their face.
- Move some stray bits of device tree and ACPI HW description
callbacks down into their respective implementation silo. These
were causing issues when compiling on !HAS_IOMEM as well, so
now eventually UM compiles the GPIOLIB library if it wants to.
New drivers:
- New driver for the Aspeed GPIO front-end companion to the
pin controller merged through the pin control tree.
- New driver for the LP873x PMIC GPIO portions.
- New driver for Technologic Systems' I2C FPGA GPIO such as
TS4900, TS-7970, TS-7990 and TS-4100.
- New driver for the Broadcom BCM63xx series including BCM6338
and BCM6345.
- New driver for the Intel WhiskeyCove PMIC GPIO.
- New driver for the Allwinner AXP209 PMIC GPIO portions.
- New driver for Diamond Systems 48 line GPIO-MM, another of
these port-mapped I/O expansion cards.
- Support the STMicroelectronics STMPE1600 variant in the STMPE
driver.
Driver improvements:
- The STMPE driver now supports rising/falling edge detection
properly for IRQs.
- The PCA954x will now fetch and enable its VCC regulator properly.
- Major rework of the PCA953x driver with the goal of eventually
switching it over to use regmap and thus modernize it even more.
- Switch the IOP driver to use the generic MMIO GPIO library.
- Move the ages old HTC EGPIO (extended GPIO) GPIO expander driver
over to this subsystem from MFD, achieveing some separation of
concerns.

Add the required PCMCIA clock for the SA1111 "1800" device. This clock
is used to compute timing information for the PCMCIA interface in the
SoC device, rather than the SA1111. Hence, the provision of this clock
is a convenience for the driver and does not reflect the hardware, so
this must not be copied into DT.

Since its initial commit, the driver is buggy for multiple interrupts
handling. The translation from the former lubbock.c file was not
complete, and might stall all interrupt handling when multiple
interrupts occur.
This is especially true when inside the interrupt handler and if a new
interrupt comes and is not handled, leaving the output line still held,
and not creating a transition as the GPIO block behind would expect to
trigger another cplds_irq_handler() call.
For the record, the hardware is working as follows.
The interrupt mechanism relies on :
- one status register
- one mask register
Let's suppose the input irq lines are called :
- i_sa1111
- i_lan91x
- i_mmc_cd
Let's suppose the status register for each irq line is called :
- status_sa1111
- status_lan91x
- status_mmc_cd
Let's suppose the interrupt mask for each irq line is called :
- irqen_sa1111
- irqen_lan91x
- irqen_mmc_cd
Let's suppose the output irq line, connected to GPIO0 is called :
- o_gpio0
The behavior is as follows :
- o_gpio0 = not((status_sa1111 & irqen_sa1111) |
(status_lan91x & irqen_lan91x) |
(status_mmc_cd & irqen_mmc_cd))
=> this is a N-to-1 NOR gate and multiple AND gates
- irqen_* is exactly as programmed by a write to the FPGA
- status_* behavior is governed by a bi-stable D flip-flop
=> on next FPGA clock :
- if i_xxx is high, status_xxx becomes 1
- if i_xxx is low, status_xxx remains as it is
- if software sets status_xxx to 0, the D flip-flop is reset
=> status_xxx becomes 0
=> on next FPGA clock cycle, if i_xxx is high, status_xxx becomes
1 again

declaration and are not necessary in machine descriptions.
This is another step towards the generic kernel for the pxa

The commit 9bf448c66d ("ARM: pxa: use generic gpio operation instead of
gpio register") from Oct 17, 2011, leads to the following static checker
warning:
arch/arm/mach-pxa/spitz_pm.c:172 spitz_charger_wakeup()
warn: double left shift '!gpio_get_value(SPITZ_GPIO_KEY_INT)
<< (1 << ((SPITZ_GPIO_KEY_INT) & 31))'
As Dan reported, the value is shifted three times :
- once by gpio_get_value(), which returns either 0 or BIT(gpio)
- once by the shift operation '<<'
- a last time by GPIO_bit(gpio) which is BIT(gpio)
Therefore the calculation lead to a chained or operator of :
- (1 << gpio) << (1 << gpio) = (2^gpio)^gpio = 2 ^ (gpio * gpio)
It is be sheer luck the former statement works, only because each gpio
used is strictly smaller than 6, and therefore 2^(gpio^2) never
overflows a 32 bits value, and because it is used as a boolean value to
check a gpio activation.
As the xxx_charger_wakeup() functions are used as a true/false detection
mechanism, take that opportunity to change their prototypes from integer
return value to boolean one.

Commit b70661c708 ("net: smc91x: use run-time configuration on all ARM
machines") broke some ARM platforms through several mistakes. Firstly,
the access size must correspond to the following rule:
(a) at least one of 16-bit or 8-bit access size must be supported
(b) 32-bit accesses are optional, and may be enabled in addition to
the above.
Secondly, it provides no emulation of 16-bit accesses, instead blindly
making 16-bit accesses even when the platform specifies that only 8-bit
is supported.
Reorganise smc91x.h so we can make use of the existing 16-bit access
emulation already provided - if 16-bit accesses are supported, use
16-bit accesses directly, otherwise if 8-bit accesses are supported,
use the provided 16-bit access emulation. If neither, BUG(). This
exactly reflects the driver behaviour prior to the commit being fixed.
Since the conversion incorrectly cut down the available access sizes on
several platforms, we also need to go through every platform and fix up
the overly-restrictive access size: Arnd assumed that if a platform can
perform 32-bit, 16-bit and 8-bit accesses, then only a 32-bit access
size needed to be specified - not so, all available access sizes must
be specified.
This likely fixes some performance regressions in doing this: if a
platform does not support 8-bit accesses, 8-bit accesses have been
emulated by performing a 16-bit read-modify-write access.
Tested on the Intel Assabet/Neponset platform, which supports only 8-bit
accesses, which was broken by the original commit.

A couple of bug fixes have come in for v4.8 so far. Since the first few were
originally meant to go into -rc1 (but didn't get sent in time for travel
reasons), the branch is unfortunately based on top of a commit in the
middle of the merge window rather than -rc1.
Content-wise we have
- A fix for the last remaining broken build in kernelci,
getting mach-shmobile to build again with SMP disabled
- A fix for a realview regression that broke real hardware but
not the qemu model that everyone uses in practice (needed
for v4.7 as well)
- A merge conflict fix for Tegra that also broke v4.7
- Two Kconfig fixes for arm64 build regressions
- A couple of arm32 build warning fixes (all harmless)
- Fixing the RTC on Exynos7 Espresso (which apparently
never worked right)

Pincontrol is not yet ready for all PXA platforms.
For example, a legacy platform, if PINCTRL was activated, will fail its
calls to gpio_request() or gpio_direction_output(), as the pinctrl
driver might not be available, such as for pxa25x and pxa3xx.
As a step forward, activate pincontrol for all device-tree available
machines, ie. pxa27x device-tree based and pxa3xx device-tree based.
If it appears later that pincontrol is also required for legacy
platforms and if the mfp->pinctrl conversion can be achieved, then
PINCTRL will be activated for the whole PXA architecture.

Since device_add_property_set() now always takes a copy of
the property_set, and also since the fwnode type is always
hard coded to be FWNODE_PDATA, there is no need for the
drivers to deliver the entire struct property_set. The
function can just create the instance of it on its own and
bind the properties from the drivers to it on the spot.
This renames device_add_property_set() to
device_add_properties(). The function now takes struct
property_entry as its parameter instead of struct
property_set.

gcc-6.0 notices that the use of the property_entry in this file that
was recently introduced cannot work right, as we initialize the wrong
field:
raumfeld.c:387:3: error: the address of 'raumfeld_rotary_encoder_steps' will always evaluate as 'true' [-Werror=address]
DEV_PROP_U32, 1, &raumfeld_rotary_encoder_steps, },

DEV_PROP_U32, 1, &raumfeld_rotary_encoder_relative_axis, },
^~~~~~~~~~~~
The problem appears to stem from relying on an old definition of
'struct property', but it has changed several times since the code
could have last been correct.
This changes the code to use the PROPERTY_ENTRY_INTEGER() macro instead,
which works fine for the current definition and is a safer way of doing
the initialization.

ixp4xx and pxa25x both use this driver and provide a slightly
different set of register definitions for it. Aside from that,
the definition in the ixp4xx-regs.h header conflicts with the
on in the pxa27x device driver when compile-testing that:

This addresses both issues by moving all the definitions into the

them was 'UDCCS_IO_ROF', and that could well be a mistake when it
was incorrectly copied from pxa25x to ixp4xx.

When CONFIG_IWMMXT, the pxa3xx and pxa27x suspend/resume code
emits some xscale specific instructions, which are rejected
by the assembler, because gcc is built with -march=armv5
-mtune=xscale and passes that option to the assembler:
/tmp/cciHumzr.s:553: Error: selected processor does not support ARM mode `mra r2,r3,acc0'

This branch is the culmination of 5 years of effort to bring the ARMv6
and ARMv7 platforms together such that they can all be enabled and
boot the same kernel. It has been a tremendous amount of cleanup and
refactoring by a huge number of people, and creation of several new
(and major) subsystems to better abstract out all the platform details
in an appropriate manner.
The bulk of this branch is a large patchset from Arnd that brings several
of the more minor and older platforms we have closer to multiplatform
support. Among these are MMP, S3C64xx, Orion5x, mv78xx0 and realview
Much of this is moving around header files from old mach directories,
but there are also some cleanup patches of debug_ll (lowlevel debug
per-platform options) and other parts.
Linus Walleij also has some patchs to clean up the older ARM Realview
platforms by finally introducing DT support, and Rob Herring has some
for ARM Versatile which is now DT-only. Both of these platforms are
now multiplatform.
Finally, a couple of patches from Russell for Dove PMU, and a fix from
Valentin Rothberg for Exynos ADC, which were rebased on top of the
series to avoid conflicts.

few bad implementations and hopefully stave off future ones
- pxa3xx_nand: cleanups, a few fixes, and PM improvements
- new JZ4780 NAND driver
SPI NOR:
- provide default erase function, for controllers that just want to
send the SECTOR_ERASE command directly
- fix some module auto-loading issues with device tree
("jedec,spi-nor")
- error handling fixes
- new Mediatek QSPI flash driver
Other:
- cfi: force valid geometry Kconfig (finally!)
This one used to trip up randconfigs occasionally, since bots
aren't deterred by big scary "advanced configuration" menus

The 'fixes' branch contains d5d4fdd86f ("irqchip/versatile-fpga:
Fix PCI IRQ mapping on Versatile PB") that is required for booting
the versatile platform prior to the rework in this branch, but
including both causes a build-time error.
I'm doing an evil merge here to pull in the fixes branch so we have
that commit included but at the same time revert the trivial change.
This gives us a bisectable history.

The ezx platform contains multiple machine descriptors, but not all
of them use all of the data structures, and it's possible to disable
all of the machines, which produces some harmless warnings:
mach-pxa/ezx.c:53:26: warning: 'ezx_pwm_lookup' defined but not used [-Wunused-variable]
mach-pxa/ezx.c:86:31: warning: 'ezx_fb_info_1' defined but not used [-Wunused-variable]
mach-pxa/ezx.c:107:31: warning: 'ezx_fb_info_2' defined but not used [-Wunused-variable]
mach-pxa/ezx.c:113:32: warning: 'ezx_devices' defined but not used [-Wunused-variable]
mach-pxa/ezx.c:117:22: warning: 'ezx_pin_config' defined but not used [-Wunused-variable]
This marks all those structures as __maybe_unused to avoid the warnings.
Obviously a configuration that contains the ezx platform but no specific
model is a bit silly, but it should not cause compile-time warnings.

The raumfeld.c file contains three similar machine definitions,
each with their own init function. If one or more of them are
disabled, we get compile-time warnings:
arm/mach-pxa/raumfeld.c:1070:123: warning: 'raumfeld_connector_init' defined but not used [-Wunused-function]
arm/mach-pxa/raumfeld.c:1082:123: warning: 'raumfeld_speaker_init' defined but not used [-Wunused-function]

In an old commit, we worked around the duplicate definition of
GPIO24_SSP1_SFRM in cm-x2xx.c, which includes files for both
pxa25x and pxa27x. Apparently the problem has come back and we
now have four additional duplicate symbols that cause warnings:
In file included from /git/arm-soc/arch/arm/mach-pxa/pxa27x.h:7:0,
from /git/arm-soc/arch/arm/mach-pxa/cm-x2xx.c:27:
/git/arm-soc/arch/arm/mach-pxa/mfp-pxa27x.h:21:0: warning: "GPIO86_GPIO" redefined
#define GPIO86_GPIO MFP_CFG_IN(GPIO86, AF0)
This uses the same hack as before and undefines all symbols that
are defined more than once. Fortunately, cm-x2xx does not need
any of these.

Currently, include/media is messy, as it contains both the V4L2 core
headers and some driver-specific headers on the same place. That makes
harder to identify what core headers should be documented and what
headers belong to I2C drivers that are included only by bridge/main
drivers that would require the functions provided by them.
Let's move those i2c specific files to its own subdirectory.
The files to move were produced via the following script:
mkdir include/media/i2c
(cd include/media; for i in *.h; do n=`echo $i|sed s/.h$/.c/`; if [ -e ../../drivers/media/i2c/$n ]; then echo $i; git mv $i i2c/; fi; done)
(cd include/media; for i in *.h; do n=`echo $i|sed s/.h$/.c/`; if [ -e ../../drivers/media/*/i2c/$n ]; then echo $i; git mv $i i2c/; fi; done)
for i in include/media/*.h; do n=`basename $i`; (for j in $(git grep -l $n); do dirname $j; done)|sort|uniq|grep -ve '^.$' > list; num=$(wc -l list|cut -d' ' -f1); if [ $num == 1 ]; then if [ "`grep i2c list`" != "" ]; then git mv $i include/media/i2c; fi; fi; done
And the references corrected via this script:
MAIN_DIR="media/"
PREV_DIR="media/"
DIRS="i2c/"
echo "Checking affected files" >&2
for i in $DIRS; do
for j in $(find include/$MAIN_DIR/$i -type f -name '*.h'); do
n=`basename $j`

The z2 machine calls pxa27x_set_pwrmode() in order to power off
the machine, but this function gets discarded early at boot because
it is marked __init, as pointed out by kbuild:
WARNING: vmlinux.o(.text+0x145c4): Section mismatch in reference from the function z2_power_off() to the function .init.text:pxa27x_set_pwrmode()
The function z2_power_off() references
the function __init pxa27x_set_pwrmode().
This is often because z2_power_off lacks a __init
annotation or the annotation of pxa27x_set_pwrmode is wrong.
This removes the __init section modifier to fix rebooting and the
build error.

This patch changes fast_mode settings for the normal and power I2C
controller on the HTC Magician machine.
Connected device on the Power I2C:
- MAX1587A: working in the fast mode
Connected devices on the Normal I2C:
- UDA1380: working in the fast mode
- OV9640: bus became stuck in the fast mode
The OV9640 is not using a standard I2C protocol, but an SCCB variant. Maybe
it is not fully compatible in the fast mode. Therefore fast mode for normal
I2C is disabled. If you not using the OV9640 then you can enable the fast
mode for the UDA1380.

This patch renames EGPIOs, which are used for the charging cable presence
and type detection. Old names did not correspond with an observed
functionality (on board_id 0x3a). The behavior is not:
- AC charger
- USB charger
- Cable detection
, but:
- AC/USB type
- Cable detection1
- Cable detection2

EGPIO declaration, too.

After the conversion of pxa architecture to common clock framework, the
NAND clock can be disabled on startup if no nand driver claims it.
In this case, it happens that if the bootloader used the NAND and set
the DFI arbitration bit, the next access to a static memory controller
area, such as an ethernet card, the system bus will stall, and the core
will be stalled forever.
Fix this by clearing the DFI arbritration bit in pxa3xx startup. The bit
will be enabled the pxa3xx-nand driver on need anyway. The only left
requirement is that upon pxa3xx-nand removal, the bit should be cleared
before the clock is disabled.

The drivers for the SA1100 and PXA RTCs are now mutually exclusive, so
add the memory resource for the sa1100-rtc device. Since the memory
resource is already present in the pxa_rtc_resources, that makes
sa1100_rtc_resources and pxa_rtc_resources equivalent, so use
pxa_rtc_resources for both devices and remove the duplicate
sa1100_rtc_resources.

Currently, the rtc-sa1100 and rtc-pxa drivers co-exist as rtc-pxa has a
superset of functionality. Having 2 drivers sharing the same memory
resource is not allowed by the driver model if resources are properly
declared. This problem was avoided by not adding memory resources to the
SA1100 RTC driver, but that prevents clean-up of the SA1100 driver.
This commit converts the PXA RTC to use the exported SA1100 RTC
functions. Now the sa1100-rtc and pxa-rtc devices are mutually
exclusive, so we must remove the sa1100-rtc from pxa27x and pxa3xx.

set_irq_flags is ARM specific with custom flags which have genirq
equivalents. Convert drivers to use the genirq interfaces directly, so we
can kill off set_irq_flags. The translation of flags is as follows:
IRQF_VALID -> !IRQ_NOREQUEST
IRQF_PROBE -> !IRQ_NOPROBE
IRQF_NOAUTOEN -> IRQ_NOAUTOEN
For IRQs managed by an irqdomain, the irqdomain core code handles clearing
and setting IRQ_NOREQUEST already, so there is no need to do this in
.map() functions and we can simply remove the set_irq_flags calls. Some
users also modify IRQ_NOPROBE and this has been maintained although it
is not clear that is really needed. There appears to be a great deal of
blind copy and paste of this code.

In order to slowly transition pxa to dmaengine, the legacy code will now
rely on dmaengine to request a channel.
This implies that PXA architecture selects DMADEVICES and PXA_DMA,
which is not pretty. Yet it enables PXA drivers to be ported one by one,
with part of them using dmaengine, and the other part using the legacy

Pull clkdev updates from Russell King:
"This series addresses some breakage in clkdev caused by a previous
patch set from the clk tree which introduced per-user clk structures.
This basically renamed the existing 'struct clk' to 'struct clk_hw',
and introduced a new 'struct clk'.
This change will break anyone using clk_add_alias() with the common
clk code enabled. Thankfully, the intersection of users of
clk_add_alias() and those using the common clk code is practically
zero, but this is something which should be fixed to keep the code
sane.
The problem is that clk_add_alias() does this:
r = clk_get(...);
l = clkdev_alloc(r, ...);
clk_put(...);
which causes the alias to store a pointer to 'r', which has been
freed.
The original patch set tried to work around this problem incorrectly -
at clk_get() time, it tried to convert the struct clk to a struct
clk_hw, and then creating a new struct clk from that. Clearly, if the
original struct clk has been freed, then we have a use-after-free bug.
We have other places in the tree which do something similar, so this
series also addresses those locations too.
This series addresses this problem by converting clkdev to store and
use the clk_hw pointer. This allows clk_get() to only have to create
it's per-user struct clk from the clk_hw. We can also get to the
desired clk_hw at clk_add_alias() or clk lookup creation time, when
the struct clk is "alive".
We also perform some cleanups of the code:
- replacing looped calls to clkdev_add() with clkdev_add_table()
- replacing open-coded lookup allocation (which should have been
using clkdev_alloc()) and subsequent clkdev_add() with
clkdev_create()
- replacing open-coded clk_add_alias() with clk_add_alias()"

Since pxa clocks were ported to the clock framework, an ordering issue
appears between clocks and clocksource initialization. As a consequence,
the pxa timer clock cannot be acquired in pxa_timer, and is disabled by
clock framework because it is "unused".
The ordering issue is that in the kernel boot sequence :
start_kernel()
...
time_init()
-> pxa_timer()
-> here the clocksource is initialized
...
rest_init()
kernel_init()
initcalls
-> here the clocks are initialized
In the current sequence, the clocks are initialized way after pxa_timer,
which cannot acquire the OSTIMER0 clock.
To solve this issue, the clocks initialization is moved to pxa_timer(),
so that clocks are initialized before clocksource for non device-tree.
For device-tree, the standard arm time_init() will take care of the
ordering.

Acked-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>
Historically, this support was in arch/arm/mach-pxa/lubbock.c and
arch/arm/mach-pxa/mainstone.c. When gpio-pxa was moved to drivers/pxa,
it became a driver, and its initialization and probing happened at
postcore initcall. The lubbock code used to install the chained lubbock
interrupt handler at init_irq() time.
The consequence of the gpio-pxa change is that the installed chained irq
handler lubbock_irq_handler() was overwritten in pxa_gpio_probe(_dt)(),
removing :
- the handler
- the falling edge detection setting of GPIO0, which revealed the
interrupt request from the lubbock IO board.
As a fix, move the gpio0 chained handler setup to a place where we have
the guarantee that pxa_gpio_probe() was called before, so that lubbock
handler becomes the true IRQ chained handler of GPIO0, demuxing the
lubbock IO board interrupts.
This patch moves all that handling to a mfd driver. It's only purpose
for the time being is the interrupt handling, but in the future it
should encompass all the motherboard CPLDs handling :
- leds
- switches
- hexleds
The same logic applies to mainstone board.

I recently did a rework of the smc91x driver and did some build-testing
by compiling hundreds of randconfig kernels. Unfortunately, my script
was wrong and did not actually test the configurations that mattered,
so I introduced stupid typos in almost every file I touched.
I fixed my script now, built all configurations that actually matter
and fixed all the typos, this is the result.

Fixes: b70661c708 ("net: smc91x: use run-time configuration on all ARM machines")
Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
The smc91x driver traditionally gets configured at compile-time
for whichever hardware it runs on. This no longer works on
ARM as we continue to move to building all-in-one kernels.
Most ARM configurations with this driver already use run-time
configuration through DT or through platform_data, but a
few have not been converted yet.
I've checked all ARM boards that use this driver in their
legacy board files, and converted the ones that were using
compile-time configuration in smc91x.h to behave like the
other ones and provide the interrupt polarity along with
the MMIO configuration (width, stride) at platform device
creation time.
In particular, these combinations were previously selectable
in Kconfig but in fact broken:
- sa1100 assabet plus pleb
- msm combined with any other armv6/v7 platform
- pxa-idp combined with any non-DMA pxa variant
- LogicPD PXA270 combined with any other pxa
- nomadik combined with any other armv4/v5 platform,
e.g. versatile.
None of these seem critical enough to warrant a backport
to stable, but it would be nice to clean this up for good.

The commit "ARM: pxa: arbitrarily set first interrupt number" changed
the first pxa interrupt to 16.
As a consequence, device-tree builds got broken, because :
- pxa_mask_irq() and pxa_unmask_irq() are using IRQ_BIT()
- IRQ_BIT(x) calculates the interrupts as : x - PXA_IRQ(0)
Before the commit, the first interrupt shift, PXA_IRQ(0) was 0,
therefore IRQ_BIT(x) was x. After the change, it is necessary that the
same shift of 16 is applied between the virtual interrupt number and the
hardware irq number.
This situation comes from the common irq_chip shared between legacy
platform builds and device-tree builds.
Fix the broken interrupts in DT case by adding this shift in the DT case
too.
As a consequence of the IRQ_BIT() is removed alltogether from interrupts
handling, even in the platform data types of platforms :
- a legacy irq domain is used
- the irq_chip handles hardware interrupts
- the virtual to hardware interrupt conversion is fully handled by irq
domain mechanics

Pull sound updates from Takashi Iwai:
"This became a fairly large pull request. In addition to the usual
driver updates / fixes, there have been a high amount of cleanups in
ASoC area, as well as control API helpers and kernel documentations
fixes touching through the whole tree.
In the driver side, the biggest changes are the support for new Intel
SoC found on new x86 machines, and the updates of FireWire dice and
oxfw drivers.
Some remarkable items are below:
ALSA core:
- PCM mmap code cleanup, removal of arch-dependent codes
- PCM xrun injection support
- PCM hwptr tracepoint support
- Refactoring of snd_pcm_action(), simplification of PCM locking
- Robustified sequecner auto-load functionality
- New control API helpers and lots of cleanups along with them
- Lots of kerneldoc fixes and cleanups
USB-audio:
- The mixer resume code was largely rewritten, and the devices with
quirks are resumed properly.
- New hardware support: Focusrite Scarlett, Digidesign Mbox1,
Denon/Marantz DACs, Zoom R16/24
FireWire:
- DICE driver updates with better duplex and sync support, including
MIDI support
- New OXFW driver for Oxford Semiconductor FW970/971 chipset,
including the previous LaCie Speakers device. Fullduplex and MIDI
support included as well as DICE driver.
HD-audio:
- Refactoring the driver-caps quirk handling in snd-hda-intel
- More consistent control names representing the topology better
- Fixups: HP mute LED with ALC268 codec, Ideapad S210 built-in mic
fix, ASUS Z99He laptop EAPD
ASoC:
- Conversion of AC'97 drivers to use regmap, bringing us closer to
the removal of the ASoC level I/O code
- Clean up a lot of old drivers that were open coding things that
have subsequently been implemented in the core
- Some DAPM performance improvements
- Removal of the now seldom used CODEC mutex
- Lots of updates for the newer Intel SoC support, including support
for the DSP and some Cherrytrail and Braswell machine drivers
- Support for Samsung boards using rt5631 as the CODEC
- Removal of the obsolete AFEB9260 machine driver
- Driver support for the TI TS3A227E headset driver used in some
Chrombeooks
Others:
- ASIHPI driver update and cleanups
- Lots of dev_*() printk conversions
- Lots of trivial cleanups for the codes spotted by Coccinelle"

As the init functions necessary for machine init have moved to
generic.h, remove the unnecessary includes and prototypes definitions
from pxa-dt.c.
This removes the include of mach/pxaXXX-regs.h, and make pxa-dt generic
enough to accept other pxa variants.
Signed-off-by: Robert Jarzmik <robert.jarzmik@free.fr>
Acked-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>
In order to have a unique .c file for all pxa variants device-tree
definitions, all the initialization functions for MACHINE_START and
DT_MACHINE_START have been put together into generic.h.
The alternative would have been one pxaXXX-dt.c file per variant.
The move is necessary because each include/mach/pxaXXX.h includes the
variant register descriptions which intersects and conflicts one with
each other.
The change is a preparation for pxa-dt.c to support multiple pxa,
ie. pxa3xx and pxa27x.
The machine files including mach/pxaXXX.h all include generic.h, which
guarantees no regression should be introduced.

The commit 2111667b46 ("ARM: pxa: call debug_ll_io_init for
earlyprintk") triggers in the current kernel the attached backtrace on
PXA/tosa early in the boot time when DEBUG_LL is enabled.
It is due to overlap between uart virtual memory defined in
DEBUG_UART_VIRT and mapped by debug_ll_io_init() and peripheral bus
mapped by pxa_map_io at the same address, 0xf2100000.
As hinted by Arnd, map early virtual memory for low level debug on
address 0xf6200000, even if that means 2 virtual mappings will give
access to the pxa internal UARTs (FFUART, BTUART, STUART, ...).

fixes and enhancements to existing drivers as well as new drivers. This
tag contains a bit more arch code than I usually take due to some OMAP2+
changes. Additionally it contains the restart notifier handlers which
are merged as a dependency into several trees.
The PXA changes are the only messy part. Due to having a stable tree I
had to revert one patch and follow up with one more fix near the tip of
this tag. Some dead code is introduced but it will soon become live code
after 3.18-rc1 is released as the rest of the PXA family is converted
over to the common clock framework.
Another trend in this tag is that multiple vendors have started to push
the complexity of changing their CPU frequency into the clock driver,
whereas this used to be done in CPUfreq drivers.
Changes to the clk core include a generic gpio-clock type and a
clk_set_phase() function added to the top-level clk.h api. Due to some
confusion on the fbdev mailing list the kernel boot parameters
documentation was updated to further explain the clk_ignore_unused
parameter, which is often required by users of the simplefb driver.
Finally some fixes to the locking around the clock debugfs stuff was
done to prevent deadlocks when interacting with other subsystems.

The kernel used to contain two functions for length-delimited,
case-insensitive string comparison, strnicmp with correct semantics and
a slightly buggy strncasecmp. The latter is the POSIX name, so strnicmp
was renamed to strncasecmp, and strnicmp made into a wrapper for the new
strncasecmp to avoid breaking existing users.
To allow the compat wrapper strnicmp to be removed at some point in the
future, and to avoid the extra indirection cost, do
s/strnicmp/strncasecmp/g.

This reverts commit 9ff25d7b58.
Originally reported on the kernel-build-reports mailing list[0]. The
problem is caused by kernel configs that select both pxa25x and pxa27x
such as cm_x2xx_defconfig and palmz72_defconfig. The short term solution
is to revert the patch introducing the failure. Longer term, all the PXA
chips will be converted to the common clock framework allowing support
for various PXA chips to build into a single image.
Reverting just this one patch does introduce some dead code into the
kernel, but that is offset by making it easier to convert the remaining
PXA platforms to the clock framework.

Transition the PXA27x CPUs to the clock framework.
This transition still enables legacy platforms to run without device
tree as before, ie relying on platform data encoded in board specific
files.

Currently, devices for SSP ports 1, 2 and 3 are registered as compatible
devices to pxa27x-ssp. While the actual IP core is comparable, there are
some subtle differences which users of the SSP ports address by looking at
the 'type' field.
By registering devices of type 'pxa27x-ssp', this 'type' field is
incorrectly set to PXA27x_SSP which confuses the users.
To fix this, provide specific ssp port plaform devices which use
'pxa3xx-ssp' as driver name, an instantiate them from pxa3xx.c.

commit a38b1f60b5 ("ARM: pxa: Add non device-tree timer link to

all pxa platforms, by introducing a new pxa_timer_init() function

which is.

This merge window brings a good size of cleanups on various
platforms. Among the bigger ones:
* Removal of Samsung s5pc100 and s5p64xx platforms. Both of these have
lacked active support for quite a while, and after asking around nobody
showed interest in keeping them around. If needed, they could be
resurrected in the future but it's more likely that we would prefer
reintroduction of them as DT and multiplatform-enabled platforms
instead.
* OMAP4 controller code register define diet. They defined a lot of registers
that were never actually used, etc.
* Move of some of the Tegra platform code (PMC, APBIO, fuse, powergate)
to drivers/soc so it can be shared with 64-bit code. This also converts them
over to traditional driver models where possible.
* Removal of legacy gpio-samsung driver, since the last users have been
removed (moved to pinctrl)
Plus a bunch of smaller changes for various platforms that sort of
dissapear in the diffstat for the above. clps711x cleanups, shmobile
header file refactoring/moves for multiplatform friendliness, some misc
cleanups, etc.

Pull timer and time updates from Thomas Gleixner:
"A rather large update of timers, timekeeping & co
- Core timekeeping code is year-2038 safe now for 32bit machines.
Now we just need to fix all in kernel users and the gazillion of
user space interfaces which rely on timespec/timeval :)
- Better cache layout for the timekeeping internal data structures.
- Proper nanosecond based interfaces for in kernel users.
- Tree wide cleanup of code which wants nanoseconds but does hoops
and loops to convert back and forth from timespecs. Some of it
definitely belongs into the ugly code museum.
- Consolidation of the timekeeping interface zoo.
- A fast NMI safe accessor to clock monotonic for tracing. This is a
long standing request to support correlated user/kernel space
traces. With proper NTP frequency correction it's also suitable
for correlation of traces accross separate machines.
- Checkpoint/restart support for timerfd.
- A few NOHZ[_FULL] improvements in the [hr]timer code.
- Code move from kernel to kernel/time of all time* related code.
- New clocksource/event drivers from the ARM universe. I'm really
impressed that despite an architected timer in the newer chips SoC
manufacturers insist on inventing new and differently broken SoC
specific timers.
[ Ed. "Impressed"? I don't think that word means what you think it means ]
- Another round of code move from arch to drivers. Looks like most
of the legacy mess in ARM regarding timers is sorted out except for
a few obnoxious strongholds.

ARMv6 and greater introduced a new instruction ("bx") which can be used
to return from function calls. Recent CPUs perform better when the
"bx lr" instruction is used rather than the "mov pc, lr" instruction,
and this sequence is strongly recommended to be used by the ARM
architecture manual (section A.4.1.1).
We provide a new macro "ret" with all its variants for the condition
code which will resolve to the appropriate instruction.
Rather than doing this piecemeal, and miss some instances, change all
the "mov pc" instances to use the new macro, with the exception of
the "movs" instruction and the kprobes code. This allows us to detect
the "mov pc, lr" case and fix it up - and also gives us the possibility
of deploying this for other registers depending on the CPU selection.
