This patch adds the LED trigger support for audio mic-mute control.
As of this patch, the LED device isn't tied with the audio driver, and
can be changed via user-space at "platform::micmute" sysfs entry.
(This new prefix "platform" is the agreement among people for
indicating the generic laptop / system-wide attribute.)
The binding with HD-audio is still done via the existing exported
dell_micmute_led_set(). It will be replaced with the LED trigger
binding in later patches.
Also this selects CONFIG_LEDS_TRIGGERS and CONFIG_LEDS_TRIGGERS_AUDIO
unconditionally. Strictly speaking, these aren't 100% mandatory, but
leaving these manual selections would lead to a functional regression
easily once after converting from the dynamic symbol binding to the
LEDs trigger in a later patch.

Some Lenovo IdeaPad models lack a physical rfkill switch.
On Lenovo models Yoga 2 13, ideapad-laptop would wrongly report all
radios as blocked by hardware which caused wireless network connections
to fail.
Add these models without an rfkill switch to the no_hw_rfkill list.

EC_MKBP_EVENT_SENSOR_FIFO events can be triggered for a variety of
reasons, and there are very few cases in which they should be treated as
wakeup interrupts (particularly, when a certain
MOTIONSENSE_MODULE_FLAG_* is set, but this is not even supported in the
mainline cros_ec_sensor driver yet). Most of the time, they are benign
sensor readings. In any case, the top-level cros_ec device doesn't know
enough to determine that they should wake the system, and so it should
not report the event. This would be the job of the cros_ec_sensors
driver to parse.
This patch adds checks to cros_ec_get_next_event() such that it doesn't
signal 'wakeup' for events of type EC_MKBP_EVENT_SENSOR_FIFO.
This patch is particularly relevant on devices like Scarlet (Rockchip
RK3399 tablet, known as Acer Chromebook Tab 10), where the EC firmware
reports sensor events much more frequently. This was causing
/sys/power/wakeup_count to increase very frequently, often needlessly
interrupting our ability to suspend the system.

cros_ec_get_next_event() is documented to return 0 for success and
negative for errors. It currently returns negative for some errors, and
non-negative (number of bytes received) for success (including some "no
data available" responses as zero). This mostly works out OK, because the
callers were more or less ignoring the documentation, and only treating
positive values as success (and indepdently checking the modification of
'wakeup').
Let's button this up by avoiding pretending to handle event/wakeup
distinctions when no event info was retrieved (i.e., returned 0 bytes).
And fix the documentation of cros_ec_get_host_event() and
cros_ec_get_next_event() to accurately describe their behavior.

According to Asus firmware engineers, the meaning of these codes is only
to notify the OS that the screen brightness has been turned on/off by
the EC. This does not match the meaning of KEY_DISPLAYTOGGLE /
KEY_DISPLAY_OFF, where userspace is expected to change the display
brightness.

When the OS registers to handle events from the display off hotkey the
EC will send a notification with 0x35 for every key press, independent
of the backlight state.
The behavior of this key on Windows, with the ATKACPI driver from Asus
installed, is turning off the backlight of all connected displays with a
fading effect, and any cursor input or key press turning the backlight
back on. The key press or cursor input that wakes up the display is also
passed through to the application under the cursor or under focus.
The key that matches this behavior the closest is KEY_SCREENLOCK.

In the past, Asus firmwares would change the panel backlight directly
through the EC when the display off hotkey (Fn+F7) was pressed, and
only notify the OS of such change, with 0x33 when the LCD was ON and
0x34 when the LCD was OFF. These are currently mapped to
KEY_DISPLAYTOGGLE and KEY_DISPLAY_OFF, respectively.
Most recently the EC on Asus most machines lost ability to toggle the
LCD backlight directly, but unless the OS informs the firmware it is
going to handle the display toggle hotkey events, the firmware still
tries change the brightness through the EC, to no effect. The end result
is a long list (at Endless we counted 11) of Asus laptop models where
the display toggle hotkey does not perform any action. Our firmware
engineers contacts at Asus were surprised that there were still machines
out there with the old behavior.
Calling WMNB(ASUS_WMI_DEVID_BACKLIGHT==0x00050011, 2) on the _WDG device
tells the firmware that it should let the OS handle the display toggle
event, in which case it will simply notify the OS of a key press with
0x35, as shown by the DSDT excerpts bellow.

Since commit dbb3d78f61 ("platform/x86: asus-wmi: Call led hw_changed
API on kbd brightness change"), asus-wmi directly changes the keyboard
LED brightness when the keyboard brightness keys are pressed,
raising the appropriate notification.
However, this notification was unintentionally also being raised during
boot and resume from suspend. This was resulting in userspace showing
the keyboard LED OSD on resume for no good reason.
Move the keyboard LED brightness changed notification
from kbd_led_update to the new kbd_led_set_by_kbd function which is only
called from the keyboard brightness function keys codepath.

The Image Signal Processor found on Cherry Trail devices is brought up in
D0 state on devices which have camera sensors attached to it. The ISP will
not enter D3 state again without some massaging of its registers beforehand
and the ISP not being in D3 state blocks the SoC from entering S0ix modes.
There was a driver for the ISP in drivers/staging but that got removed
again because it never worked. It does not seem likely that a real
driver for the ISP will be added to the mainline kernel anytime soon.
This commit adds a dummy driver which contains the necessary magic from
the staging driver to powerdown the ISP, so that Cherry Trail devices where
the ISP is used will properly use S0ix modes when suspended.
Together with other recent S0ix related fixes this allows S0ix modes to
be entered on e.g. a Chuwi Hi8 Pro and a HP x2 210.

On some Goldmont based systems such as ASRock J3455M the BIOS may not
enable the IPC1 device that provides access to the PMC and PUNIT. In
such scenarios, the IOSS and PSS resources from the platform device can
not be obtained and result in a invalid telemetry_plt_config which is an
internal data structure that holds platform config and is maintained by
the telemetry platform driver.
This is also applicable to the platforms where the BIOS supports IPC1
device under debug configurations but IPC1 is disabled by user or the
policy.
This change allows user to know the reason for not seeing entries under
/sys/kernel/debug/telemetry/* when there is no apparent failure at boot.

The original asus-wmi queues a work which calls the ACPI/WMI methods to
update the keyboard LED brightness. Similar drivers - acer-wmi,
dell-wmi-led just call the ACPI/WMI methods directly without workqueues.
This patch simplifies the keyboard brightness updating process which
calls the kbd_led_update function directly without workqueue in
asus-wmi.

Bay and Cherry Trail devices with a Dollar Cove or Whiskey Cove PMIC
have an ACPI node with a HID of INT33FE which is a "virtual" battery
device implementing a standard ACPI battery interface which depends upon
a proprietary, undocument OpRegion called BMOP. Since we do have docs
for the actual fuel-gauges used on these boards we instead use native
fuel-gauge drivers talking directly to the fuel-gauge ICs on boards which
rely on this INT33FE device for their battery monitoring.
On boards with a Dollar Cove PMIC the INT33FE device's resources (_CRS)
describe a non-existing I2C client at address 0x6b with a bus-speed of
100KHz. This is a problem on some boards since there are actual devices
on that same bus which need a speed of 400KHz to function properly.
This commit adds the INT33FE HID to the list of devices with I2C resources
which should be enumerated as a platform-device rather then letting the
i2c-core instantiate an i2c-client matching the first I2C resource,
so that its bus-speed will not influence the max speed of the I2C bus.
This fixes e.g. the touchscreen not working on the Teclast X98 II Plus.
The INT33FE device on boards with a Whiskey Cove PMIC is somewhat special.
Its first I2C resource is for a secondary I2C address of the PMIC itself,
which is already described in an ACPI device with an INT34D3 HID.
But it has 3 more I2C resources describing 3 other chips for which we do
need to instantiate I2C clients and which need device-connections added
between them for things to work properly. This special case is handled by
the drivers/platform/x86/intel_cht_int33fe.c code.
Before this commit that code was binding to the i2c-client instantiated
for the secondary I2C address of the PMIC, since we now instantiate a
platform device for the INT33FE device instead, this commit also changes
the intel_cht_int33fe driver from an i2c driver to a platform driver.
This also brings the intel_cht_int33fe drv inline with how we instantiate
multiple i2c clients from a single ACPI device in other cases, as done
by the drivers/platform/x86/i2c-multi-instantiate.c code.

Commit 57e94c8b97 caused cros-ec keyboard events
be truncated on many chromebooks so that Left and Right keys on Column 12 were
always 0. Use ret as memcpy len to fix this.
The old code was using ec_dev->event_size, which is the event payload/data size
excluding event_type header, for the length of the memcpy operation. Use ret
as memcpy length to avoid the off by one and copy the whole msg->data.

Some users have been reporting issues with thunderbolt being turned off
before fully initialized. This is suspected to be caused by userspace
turning off the Thunderbolt controller using intel-wmi-thunderbolt
prematurely.
Userspace has already made some mitigations for this situation:
https://github.com/hughsie/fwupd/commit/ef6f1d76983c9b66https://github.com/hughsie/fwupd/commit/c07ce5b4889a5384
To allow easier debugging of this situation add output that can be turned
on with dynamic debugging to better root cause this problem.

This driver has two module parameters that allow an override of the
checks for matching model and BIOS version. However, both parameters
expect you to choose an entry from the existing list of supported
systems, encoded within the driver itself.
Without the source, such as in a binary distribution, the end user
does not have access to this information, thus rendering the two
module parameters essentially useless.
Add a module parameter that allows the end user to dump the list
of make/model/versions so that they can then pick one that most
closely matches their own system.

When the PCI hotplug core and its first user, cpqphp, were introduced in
February 2002 with historic commit a8a2069f432c, cpqphp allocated a slot
struct for its internal use plus a hotplug_slot struct to be registered
with the hotplug core and linked the two with pointers:
https://git.kernel.org/tglx/history/c/a8a2069f432c
Nowadays, the predominant pattern in the tree is to embed ("subclass")
such structures in one another and cast to the containing struct with
container_of(). But it wasn't until July 2002 that container_of() was
introduced with historic commit ec4f214232cf:
https://git.kernel.org/tglx/history/c/ec4f214232cf
pnv_php, introduced in 2016, did the right thing and embedded struct
hotplug_slot in its internal struct pnv_php_slot, but all other drivers
cargo-culted cpqphp's design and linked separate structs with pointers.
Embedding structs is preferrable to linking them with pointers because
it requires fewer allocations, thereby reducing overhead and simplifying
error paths. Casting an embedded struct to the containing struct
becomes a cheap subtraction rather than a dereference. And having fewer
pointers reduces the risk of them pointing nowhere either accidentally
or due to an attack.
Convert all drivers to embed struct hotplug_slot in their internal slot
struct. The "private" pointer in struct hotplug_slot thereby becomes
unused, so drop it.

Ever since the PCI hotplug core was introduced in 2002, drivers had to
allocate and register a struct hotplug_slot_info for every slot:
https://git.kernel.org/tglx/history/c/a8a2069f432c
Apparently the idea was that drivers furnish the hotplug core with an
up-to-date card presence status, power status, latch status and
attention indicator status as well as notify the hotplug core of changes
thereof. However only 4 out of 12 hotplug drivers bother to notify the
hotplug core with pci_hp_change_slot_info() and the hotplug core never
made any use of the information: There is just a single macro in
pci_hotplug_core.c, GET_STATUS(), which uses the hotplug_slot_info if
the driver lacks the corresponding callback in hotplug_slot_ops. The
macro is called when the user reads the attribute via sysfs.
Now, if the callback isn't defined, the attribute isn't exposed in sysfs
in the first place (see e.g. has_power_file()). There are only two
situations when the hotplug_slot_info would actually be accessed:
* If the driver defines ->enable_slot or ->disable_slot but not
->get_power_status.
* If the driver defines ->set_attention_status but not
->get_attention_status.
There is no driver doing the former and just a single driver doing the
latter, namely pnv_php.c. Amend it with a ->get_attention_status
callback. With that, the hotplug_slot_info becomes completely unused by
the PCI hotplug core. But a few drivers use it internally as a cache:
cpcihp uses it to cache the latch_status and adapter_status.
cpqhp uses it to cache the adapter_status.
pnv_php and rpaphp use it to cache the attention_status.
shpchp uses it to cache all four values.
Amend these drivers to cache the information in their private slot
struct. shpchp's slot struct already contains members to cache the
power_status and adapter_status, so additional members are only needed
for the other two values. In the case of cpqphp, the cached value is
only accessed in a single place, so instead of caching it, read the
current value from the hardware.
Caution: acpiphp, cpci, cpqhp, shpchp, asus-wmi and eeepc-laptop
populate the hotplug_slot_info with initial values on probe. That code
is herewith removed. There is a theoretical chance that the code has
side effects without which the driver fails to function, e.g. if the
ACPI method to read the adapter status needs to be executed at least
once on probe. That seems unlikely to me, still maintainers should
review the changes carefully for this possibility.
Rafael adds: "I'm not aware of any case in which it will break anything,
[...] but if that happens, it may be necessary to add the execution of
the control methods in question directly to the initialization part."

Hotplug drivers cannot declare their hotplug_slot_ops const, making them
attractive targets for attackers, because upon registration of a hotplug
slot, __pci_hp_initialize() writes to the "owner" and "mod_name" members
in that struct.
Fix by moving these members to struct hotplug_slot and constify every
driver's hotplug_slot_ops except for pciehp.
pciehp constructs its hotplug_slot_ops at runtime based on the PCIe
port's capabilities, hence cannot declare them const. It can be
converted to __write_rarely once that's mainlined:

The cros-ec-lpc driver lives in drivers/platform because is platform
specific, however there are two includes (cros_ec_lpc_mec.h and
cros_ec_lpc_reg.h) that lives in include/linux/mfd. These two includes
are only used for the platform driver and are not really related to the
MFD subsystem, so move the includes from include/linux/mfd to
drivers/platform/chrome.

The driver for Silead touchscreen configurations has been renamed
from silead_dmi to touchscreen_dmi since it starts supporting other
touchscreens which require some DMI quirks. At the same release cycle
it gets expanded to cover cases for Chuwi Vi10, ONDA V891W,
Connect Tablet 9, Onda V820w, and Cube KNote i1101 tablets.
Another bunch of changes is related to Mellanox platform code to allow
user space to communicate with Mellanox for system control and
monitoring purposes. The driver notifies user on hotplug device signal
receiving.
ASUS WMI drivers recognize lid flip action on UX360, and correctly
toggles airplane mode LED. In addition the keyboard backlight toggle
gets support.
ThinkPad ACPI driver enables support for calculator key (on at least P52).
It also has been fixed to support three characters model designators,
which are used for modern laptops. Earlier the battery, marked as BAT1,
on ThinkPad laptops has not been configured properly, which is fixed.
On the opposite the multi-battery configurations now probed correctly.
Dell SMBIOS driver starts working on some Dell servers which do not
support token interface. The regression with backlight detection has
also been fixed. In order to support dock mode on some laptops,
Intel virtual button driver has been fixed. The last but not least
is the fix to Intel HID driver due to changes in Dell systems that
prevented to use power button.
The following is an automated git shortlog grouped by driver:

Pull core signal handling updates from Eric Biederman:
"It was observed that a periodic timer in combination with a
sufficiently expensive fork could prevent fork from every completing.
This contains the changes to remove the need for that restart.
This set of changes is split into several parts:
- The first part makes PIDTYPE_TGID a proper pid type instead
something only for very special cases. The part starts using
PIDTYPE_TGID enough so that in __send_signal where signals are
actually delivered we know if the signal is being sent to a a group
of processes or just a single process.
- With that prep work out of the way the logic in fork is modified so
that fork logically makes signals received while it is running
appear to be received after the fork completes"

Here is the bit set of char/misc drivers for 4.19-rc1
There is a lot here, much more than normal, seems like everyone is
writing new driver subsystems these days... Anyway, major things here
are:
- new FSI driver subsystem, yet-another-powerpc low-level
hardware bus
- gnss, finally an in-kernel GPS subsystem to try to tame all of
the crazy out-of-tree drivers that have been floating around
for years, combined with some really hacky userspace
implementations. This is only for GNSS receivers, but you
have to start somewhere, and this is great to see.
Other than that, there are new slimbus drivers, new coresight drivers,
new fpga drivers, and loads of DT bindings for all of these and existing
drivers.
Full details of everything is in the shortlog.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
issues.

An overview of the general architecture changes:
- Massive DMA ops refactoring from Christoph Hellwig (huzzah for
deleting crufty code!).
- We introduce NT_MIPS_DSP & NT_MIPS_FP_MODE ELF notes & corresponding
regsets to expose DSP ASE & floating point mode state respectively,
both for live debugging & core dumps.
- We better optimize our code by hard-coding cpu_has_* macros at
compile time where their values are known due to the ISA revision
that the kernel build is targeting.
- The EJTAG exception handler now better handles SMP systems, where it
was previously possible for CPUs to clobber a register value saved
by another CPU.
- Our implementation of memset() gained a couple of fixes for MIPSr6
systems to return correct values in some cases where stores fault.
- We now implement ioremap_wc() using the uncached-accelerated cache
coherency attribute where supported, which is detected during boot,
and fall back to plain uncached access where necessary. The
MIPS-specific (and unused in tree) ioremap_uncached_accelerated() &
ioremap_cacheable_cow() are removed.
- The prctl(PR_SET_FP_MODE, ...) syscall is better supported for SMP
systems by reworking the way we ensure remote CPUs that may be
running threads within the affected process switch mode.
- Systems using the MIPS Coherence Manager will now set the
MIPS_IC_SNOOPS_REMOTE flag to avoid some unnecessary cache
maintenance overhead when flushing the icache.
- A few fixes were made for building with clang/LLVM, which
now sucessfully builds kernels for many of our platforms.
- Miscellaneous cleanups all over.
And some platform-specific changes:
- ar7 gained stubs for a few clock API functions to fix build failures
for some drivers.
- ath79 gained support for a few new SoCs, a few fixes & better
gpio-keys support.
- Ci20 now exposes its SPI bus using the spi-gpio driver.
- The generic platform can now auto-detect a suitable value for
PHYS_OFFSET based upon the memory map described by the device tree,
allowing us to avoid wasting memory on page book-keeping for systems
where RAM starts at a non-zero physical address.
- Ingenic systems using the jz4740 platform code now link their
vmlinuz higher to allow for kernels of a realistic size.
- Loongson32 now builds the kernel targeting MIPSr1 rather than MIPSr2
to avoid CPU errata.
- Loongson64 gains a couple of fixes, a workaround for a write
buffering issue & support for the Loongson 3A R3.1 CPU.
- Malta now uses the piix4-poweroff driver to handle powering down.
- Microsemi Ocelot gained support for its SPI bus & NOR flash, its
second MDIO bus and can now be supported by a FIT/.itb image.
- Octeon saw a bunch of header cleanups which remove a lot of
duplicate or unused code.

On systems with ACPI instantiated i2c-clients, normally there is 1 fw_node
per i2c-device and that fw-node contains 1 I2cSerialBus resource for that 1
i2c-device.
But in some rare cases the manufacturer has decided to describe multiple
i2c-devices in a single ACPI fwnode with multiple I2cSerialBus resources.
An earlier attempt to fix this in the i2c-core resulted in a lot of extra
code to support this corner-case.
This commit introduces a new i2c-multi-instantiate driver which fixes this
in a different way. This new driver can be built as a module which will
only loaded on affected systems.
This driver will instantiate a new i2c-client per I2cSerialBus resource,
using the driver_data from the acpi_device_id it is binding to to tell it
which chip-type (and optional irq-resource) to use when instantiating.
Note this driver depends on a platform device being instantiated for the
ACPI fwnode, see the i2c_multi_instantiate_ids list of ACPI device-ids in
drivers/acpi/scan.c: acpi_device_enumeration_by_parent().

Simplify the logic of ASIC health discovery.
ASIC device can indicate its health state as a good, booting or dormant.
During ASIC reset the device is dropped to dormant state and should get to
the stable good health state through the intermediate booting state.
The sequence for getting to the steady state health after reset is:
(dormant -> booting -> good)+.
Initial implementation assumes that ?good? within this sequence is always
repeated twice and device is getting steady state only after the second
?good?. This patch removes this dependency, since the second ?good? is
received because of the noise on line and can be ignored. Device reaches
steady state after the first ?good? is received.

The Dell laptop ACPI video brightness control is not present on dell

The code that checks the return value is incorrect since the SMM

The old code was:

Which was changed to:

However, dell_send_request() will return 0 if buffer->output[0] == 0,
so we must change the check to:

When a hotplug driver calls pci_hp_register(), all steps necessary for
registration are carried out in one go, including creation of a kobject
and addition to sysfs. That's a problem for pciehp once it's converted
to enable/disable the slot exclusively from the IRQ thread: The thread
needs to be spawned after creation of the kobject (because it uses the
kobject's name), but before addition to sysfs (because it will handle
enable/disable requests submitted via sysfs).
pci_hp_deregister() does offer a ->release callback that's invoked
after deletion from sysfs and before destruction of the kobject. But
because pci_hp_register() doesn't offer a counterpart, hotplug drivers'
->probe and ->remove code becomes asymmetric, which is error prone
as recently discovered use-after-free bugs in pciehp's ->remove hook
have shown.
In a sense, this appears to be a case of the midlayer antipattern:
"The core thesis of the "midlayer mistake" is that midlayers are
bad and should not exist. That common functionality which it is
so tempting to put in a midlayer should instead be provided as
library routines which can [be] used, augmented, or ignored by
each bottom level driver independently. Thus every subsystem
that supports multiple implementations (or drivers) should
provide a very thin top layer which calls directly into the
bottom layer drivers, and a rich library of support code that
eases the implementation of those drivers. This library is
available to, but not forced upon, those drivers."
-- Neil Brown (2009), https://lwn.net/Articles/336262/
The presence of midlayer traits in the PCI hotplug core might be ascribed
to its age: When it was introduced in February 2002, the blessings of a
library approach might not have been well known:
https://git.kernel.org/tglx/history/c/a8a2069f432c
For comparison, the driver core does offer split functions for creating
a kobject (device_initialize()) and addition to sysfs (device_add()) as
an alternative to carrying out everything at once (device_register()).
This was introduced in October 2002:
https://git.kernel.org/tglx/history/c/8b290eb19962
The odd ->release callback in the PCI hotplug core was added in 2003:
https://git.kernel.org/tglx/history/c/69f8d663b595
Clearly, a library approach would not force every hotplug driver to
implement a ->release callback, but rather allow the driver to remove
the sysfs files, release its data structures and finally destroy the
kobject. Alternatively, a driver may choose to remove everything with
pci_hp_deregister(), then release its data structures.
To this end, offer drivers pci_hp_initialize() and pci_hp_add() as a
split-up version of pci_hp_register(). Likewise, offer pci_hp_del()
and pci_hp_destroy() as a split-up version of pci_hp_deregister().
Eliminate the ->release callback and move its code into each driver's
teardown routine.
Declare pci_hp_deregister() void, in keeping with the usual kernel
pattern that enablement can fail, but disablement cannot. It only
returned an error if the caller passed in a NULL pointer or a slot which
has never or is no longer registered or is sharing its name with another
slot. Those would be bugs, so WARN about them. Few hotplug drivers
actually checked the return value and those that did only printed a
useless error message to dmesg. Remove that.
For most drivers the conversion was straightforward since it doesn't
matter whether the code in the ->release callback is executed before or
after destruction of the kobject. But in the case of ibmphp, it was
unclear to me whether setting slot_cur->ctrl and slot_cur->bus_on to
NULL needs to happen before the kobject is destroyed, so I erred on
the side of caution and ensured that the order stays the same. Another
nontrivial case is pnv_php, I've found the list and kref logic difficult
to understand, however my impression was that it is safe to delete the
list element and drop the references until after the kobject is
destroyed.

Some ASUS laptops like UX550GE has hotkey (Fn+F7) for keyboard
backlight toggle which would emit the scan code 0xc7 each keypress.
On the UX550GE, the max keyboard brightness level is 3 so the
toggle would not be simply on/off the led but need to be cyclic.
Per ASUS spec, it should increment the brightness for each keypress,
then toggle(off) the LED when it already reached the max level.

Make asus-wmi notify on hotkey kbd brightness changes, listen for
brightness events and update the brightness directly in the driver.
Create new do_kbd_led_set function for in-driver update, and leave
kbd_led_set for original led_classdev call path.
Update the brightness by led_classdev_notify_brightness_hw_changed.
This will allow userspace to monitor (poll) for brightness changes
on the LED without reporting via input keymapping.

Adds debugfs access to registers in the Cannon Point PCH PMC that are
useful for debugging #SLP_S0 signal assertion and other low power relate
activities. Device pm states are latched in these registers whenever the
package enters C10 and can be read from slp_s0_debug_status. The pm
states may also be latched by writing 1 to slp_s0_dbg_latch which will
immediately capture the current state on the next read of
slp_s0_debug_status.

Not only silead touchscreens need some extra info not available in the
ACPI tables to work properly. X86 devices with a Chipone ICN8505 chip also
need some DMI based extra configuration.
There is no reason to have separate dmi config code per touchscreen
controller vendor. This commit renames silead_dmi to a more generic
touchscreen_dmi name (and Kconfig option) in preparation of adding
info for tablets with an ICN8505 based touchscreen.
Note there are no functional changes all code changes are limited to
removing references to silead where these are no longer applicable.

Second generation keyboard backlight (type 2) laptops can switch
on the keyboard LED on their own via hardware/firmware, but the
LED subsystem is unaware of such change since the LED interface
was only being created on first generation keyboard backlight
(type 1) laptops.
This patch creates the LED interface for second gen keyboards
and calls the *_hw_changed API whenever userspace changes the
state of the keyboard backlight LED.

Add mlxreg-io platform driver activation. Access driver uses the same
regmap infrastructure as others Mellanox platform drivers.
Specific registers description for default platform data configuration are
added to mlx-platform. There are the registers for resets control, reset
causes monitoring, programmable devices version reading and mux select
control. This platform data is passed to mlxreg-io driver. Also some
default values for the register are set at initialization time through
the regmap infrastructure, which are necessary for moving write protection
from the general purpose registers, which are used by mlxreg-io for
write access.

programmable device register space trough sysfs interface.
The driver purpose is to provide sysfs interface for user space for the
registers essential for system control and monitoring.

system type bases and include the registers related to system resets
operation, system reset causes monitoring and some kinds of mux selection.

Add extra cycle for hotplug work queue to handle the case when a signal is
It adds missed logic for signal acknowledge, by adding an extra run for
received, but no specific signal assertion is detected. Such case
theoretically can happen for example in case several units are removed or
inserted at the same time. In this situation acknowledge for some signal
can be missed at signal top aggreagation status level. The extra run will
allow to handler to acknowledge the missed signal.
The interrupt handling flow performs the next steps:
(1)
Enter mlxreg_hotplug_work_handler due to signal assertion.
Aggregation status register is changed for example from 0xff to 0xfd
(event signal group related to bit 1).
(2)
Mask aggregation interrupts, read aggregation status register and save it
(0xfd) in aggr_cache, then traverse down to handle signal from groups
related to the changed bit.
(3)
Read and mask group related signal.
Acknowledge and unmask group related signal (acknowledge should clear
aggregation status register from 0xfd back to 0xff).
(4)
Re-schedule work queue for the immediate execution.
(5)
Enter mlxreg_hotplug_work_handler due to re-scheduling.
Aggregation status is changed from previous 0xfd to 0xff.
Go over steps (2) - (5) and in case no new signal assertion
is detected - unmask aggregation interrupts.
The possible race could happen in case new signal from the same group is
asserted after step (3) and prior step (5). In such case aggregation
status will change back from 0xff to 0xfd and the value read from the
aggregation status register will be the same as a value saved in
aggr_cache. As a result the handler will not traverse down and signal
will stay unhandled.
Example of faulty flow:
The signal routing flow is as following (f.e. for of FANi removing):
- FAN status and event registers related bit is changed;
-- intermediate aggregation status register is changed;
--- top aggregation status register is changed;
---- interrupt routed to CPU and interrupt handler is invoked.
When interrupt handler is invoked it follows the next simple logic (f.e
FAN3 is removed):
(a1) mask top aggregation interrupt mask register;
(a2) read top aggregation interrupt status register and test to which
underling group belongs a signal (FANs in this case and is changed
from 0xff to 0xfb and 0xfb is saved as a last status value);
(b1) mask FANs interrupt mask register;
(b2) read FANs status register and test which FAN has been changed
FAN3 in this example);
(c1) perform relevant action;
<--------------- (FAN2 is removed at this point)
(b3) clear FANs interrupt event register to acknowledge FAN3 signal;
(b4) unmask FANs interrupt mask register
(a3) unmask top aggregation interrupt mask register;
An interrupt handler is invoked, since FAN2 interrupt is not acknowledge.
It should set top aggregation interrupt status register bit 6 (0xfb).
In step (a2)
(a2) read top aggregation interrupt and comparing it with saved value
does not show change (same 0xfb) and after (a2) execution jumps to
(a3) and signal leaved unhandled
The fix will enforce handler to traverse down in case the signal is
received, but signal assertion is not detected.

BayTrail-based and newer Chromebooks describe their peripherals in ACPI;
unfortunately their description is not complete, and peripherals
drivers, such as driver for Atmel Touch controllers, has to resort to
DMI-matching to configure the peripherals properly. To avoid polluting
peripheral driver code, let's teach chromeos_laptop driver to supply
missing data via generic device properties.
Note we supply "compatible" string for Atmel peripherals not because it is
needed for matching devices and driver (matching is still done on ACPI HID
entries), but because peripherals driver will be using presence of
"compatible" property to determine if device properties have been attached
to the device, and fail to bind if they are absent.

Commit 001dde9400 ("mfd: cros ec: spi: Fix "in progress" error
signaling") pointed out some bad code, but its analysis and conclusion
was not 100% correct.
It *is* correct that we should not propagate result==EC_RES_IN_PROGRESS
for transport errors, because this has a special meaning -- that we
should follow up with EC_CMD_GET_COMMS_STATUS until the EC is no longer
busy. This is definitely the wrong thing for many commands, because
among other problems, EC_CMD_GET_COMMS_STATUS doesn't actually retrieve
any RX data from the EC, so commands that expected some data back will
instead start processing junk.
For such commands, the right answer is to either propagate the error
(and return that error to the caller) or resend the original command
(*not* EC_CMD_GET_COMMS_STATUS).
Unfortunately, commit 001dde9400 forgets a crucial point: that for
some long-running operations, the EC physically cannot respond to
commands any more. For example, with EC_CMD_FLASH_ERASE, the EC may be
re-flashing its own code regions, so it can't respond to SPI interrupts.
Instead, the EC prepares us ahead of time for being busy for a "long"
time, and fills its hardware buffer with EC_SPI_PAST_END. Thus, we
expect to see several "transport" errors (or, messages filled with
EC_SPI_PAST_END). So we should really translate that to a retryable
error (-EAGAIN) and continue sending EC_CMD_GET_COMMS_STATUS until we
get a ready status.
IOW, it is actually important to treat some of these "junk" values as
retryable errors.
Together with commit 001dde9400, this resolves bugs like the
following:
1. EC_CMD_FLASH_ERASE now works again (with commit 001dde9400, we
would abort the first time we saw EC_SPI_PAST_END)
2. Before commit 001dde9400, transport errors (e.g.,
EC_SPI_RX_BAD_DATA) seen in other commands (e.g.,
EC_CMD_RTC_GET_VALUE) used to yield junk data in the RX buffer; they
will now yield -EAGAIN return values, and tools like 'hwclock' will
simply fail instead of retrieving and re-programming undefined time
values

Older models of Chromebooks did not describe the LPC EC in their ACPI
tables; starting with Strago-based devices Google is using GOOG0004 device
to describe EC LPC.
DMI-based match is fragile and does not work reliably, especially when
using custom firmware. It is also not needed when we can locate the right
ACPI device, so let's stop bailing out when DMI does not match but the
right ACPI device is present.
