Jani Nikula fd620bf92a drm/i915/backlight: switch to kernel unsigned int types
We have fairly mixed uintN_t vs. uN usage throughout the driver, but try
to stick to kernel types at least where it's more prevalent.

Michal Wajdeczko 4f044a88a8 drm/i915: Rename global i915 to i915_modparams
Our global struct with params is named exactly the same way
as new preferred name for the drm_i915_private function parameter.
To avoid such name reuse lets use different name for the global.

v5: pure rename

Jani Nikula d2939424ff Revert "drm/i915: Add heuristic to determine better way to adjust brightness"
This reverts commit 560a758d39.

The DPCD backlight commits regress a Thinkpad X1 Carbon 4th Gen and a
BXT-P (in CI). Enabling dynamic backlight boots to a black screen, and
enabling DPCD backlight leads to a black screen after suspend/resume.

Add heuristic to decide that AUX or PWM pin should use for
backlight brightness adjustment and modify i915 param description
to have auto, force disable, and force enable.

The heuristic to determine that using AUX pin is better than using
PWM pin is that the panel support any of the feature list here.
- Regional backlight brightness adjustment
- Backlight PWM frequency set
- More than 8 bits resolution of brightness level
- Backlight enablement via AUX and not by BL_ENABLE pin

Dhinakaran Pandiyan f6262bda46 drm/i915: Don't enable backlight at setup time.
Maarten and Ville noticed that we are enabling backlight via DP aux very
early in the modeset_init path via the intel_dp_aux_setup_backlight()
function, since commit e7156c8339 ("drm/i915: Add Backlight Control using
DPCD for eDP connectors (v9)"). Looks like all we need to do during
_setup_backlight() is read the current brightness state instead of
modifying it.

Maarten Lankhorst 7d025e0804 drm/i915: Pass atomic state to backlight enable/disable/set callbacks.
Pass crtc_state to the enable callback, and connector_state to all callbacks.
This will eliminate the need to guess for the correct pipe in these
callbacks.

The crtc state is required for pch_enable_backlight to obtain the correct
cpu_transcoder.

intel_dp_aux_backlight's setup function is called before hw readout, so
crtc_state and connector_state->best_encoder are NULL in the enable()
and set() callbacks.
