Linus Torvalds 5166701b36 Merge branch 'for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/viro/vfs
Pull vfs updates from Al Viro:
"The first vfs pile, with deep apologies for being very late in this
  window.

Assorted cleanups and fixes, plus a large preparatory part of iov_iter
work. There's a lot more of that, but it'll probably go into the next
merge window - it *does* shape up nicely, removes a lot of
boilerplate, gets rid of locking inconsistencie between aio_write and
splice_write and I hope to get Kent's direct-io rewrite merged into
the same queue, but some of the stuff after this point is having
(mostly trivial) conflicts with the things already merged into
mainline and with some I want more testing.

This one passes LTP and xfstests without regressions, in addition to
usual beating. BTW, readahead02 in ltp syscalls testsuite has started
giving failures since "mm/readahead.c: fix readahead failure for
memoryless NUMA nodes and limit readahead pages" - might be a false
positive, might be a real regression..."

Anton Blanchard e45fbae515 powerpc: Use default set of netfilter modules (CONFIG_NETFILTER_ADVANCED=n)
Our netfilter options are stale and important things like masquerading
are no longer enabled. Instead of trying to keep up with any updates,
set CONFIG_NETFILTER_ADVANCED=n on ppc64* and pseries* defconfigs.
This enables the most common netfilter modules for us.

While here, enable the network bridge module which is heavily used in
KVM setups.

Paul Gortmaker 3c8464a9b1 powerpc: Delete old PrPMC 280/2800 support
This processor/memory module was mostly used on ATCA blades and
before that, on cPCI blades. It wasn't really user friendly, with
custom non u-boot bootloaders (powerboot/motload) and no real way
to recover corrupted boot flash (which was a common problem).

As such, it had its day back before the big ppc --> powerpc move
to device trees, and that was largely through commercial BSPs that
started to dry up around 2007.

Systems using one were largely in a "deploy and sustain" mode,
so interest in upgrading to new kernels in the field was nil.
Also, requiring 50A, 48V power supplies and a 2'x2'x2' ATCA
chassis largely rules out any hobbyist/enthusiast interest.

The point of all this, is that we might as well delete the in
kernel files relating to this platform. No point in continuing
to build it via walking the defconfigs or via linux-next testing.

Stephen Chivers be2019816e powerpc/embedded6xx: Add support for Motorola/Emerson MVME5100
Add support for the Motorola/Emerson MVME5100 Single Board Computer.

The MVME5100 is a 6U form factor VME64 computer with:

	- A single MPC7410 or MPC750 CPU
	- A HAWK Processor Host Bridge (CPU to PCI) and
	  MultiProcessor Interrupt Controller (MPIC)
	- Up to 500Mb of onboard memory
	- A M48T37 Real Time Clock (RTC) and Non-Volatile Memory chip
	- Two 16550 compatible UARTS
	- Two Intel E100 Fast Ethernets
	- Two PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) Slots
	- PPCBug Firmware

The HAWK PHB/MPIC is compatible with the MPC10x devices.

There is no onboard disk support. This is usually provided by installing a PMC
in first PMC slot.

This patch revives the board support, it was present in early 2.6
series kernels. The board support in those days was by Matt Porter of
MontaVista Software.

CSC Australia has around 31 of these boards in service. The kernel in use
for the boards is based on 2.6.31. The boards are operated without disks
from a file server.

This patch is based on linux-3.13-rc2 and has been boot tested.

Only boards with 512 Mb of memory are known to work.

Linus Torvalds 9d3cae26ac Merge branch 'next' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/benh/powerpc
Pull powerpc updates from Benjamin Herrenschmidt:
"So from the depth of frozen Minnesota, here's the powerpc pull request
for 3.9. It has a few interesting highlights, in addition to the
usual bunch of bug fixes, minor updates, embedded device tree updates
  and new boards:

   - Hand tuned asm implementation of SHA1 (by Paulus & Michael
     Ellerman)

   - Support for Doorbell interrupts on Power8 (kind of fast
     thread-thread IPIs) by Ian Munsie

   - Long overdue cleanup of the way we handle relocation of our open
firmware trampoline (prom_init.c) on 64-bit by Anton Blanchard

   - Support for saving/restoring & context switching the PPR (Processor
Priority Register) on server processors that support it. This
allows the kernel to preserve thread priorities established by
     userspace. By Haren Myneni.

   - DAWR (new watchpoint facility) support on Power8 by Michael Neuling

   - Ability to change the DSCR (Data Stream Control Register) which
controls cache prefetching on a running process via ptrace by
     Alexey Kardashevskiy

   - Support for context switching the TAR register on Power8 (new
branch target register meant to be used by some new specific
userspace perf event interrupt facility which is yet to be enabled)
     by Ian Munsie.

   - Improve preservation of the CFAR register (which captures the
origin of a branch) on various exception conditions by Paulus.

   - Move the Bestcomm DMA driver from arch powerpc to drivers/dma where
it belongs by Philippe De Muyter

   - Support for Transactional Memory on Power8 by Michael Neuling
(based on original work by Matt Evans). For those curious about
the feature, the patch contains a pretty good description."

Frederic Weisbecker abf917cd91 cputime: Generic on-demand virtual cputime accounting
If we want to stop the tick further idle, we need to be
able to account the cputime without using the tick.

Virtual based cputime accounting solves that problem by
hooking into kernel/user boundaries.

However implementing CONFIG_VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING require
low level hooks and involves more overhead. But we already
have a generic context tracking subsystem that is required
for RCU needs by archs which plan to shut down the tick
outside idle.

This patch implements a generic virtual based cputime
accounting that relies on these generic kernel/user hooks.

There are some upsides of doing this:

- This requires no arch code to implement CONFIG_VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING
if context tracking is already built (already necessary for RCU in full
tickless mode).

- We can rely on the generic context tracking subsystem to dynamically
(de)activate the hooks, so that we can switch anytime between virtual
and tick based accounting. This way we don't have the overhead
of the virtual accounting when the tick is running periodically.

And one downside:

- There is probably more overhead than a native virtual based cputime
accounting. But this relies on hooks that are already set anyway.

Michael Neuling b92a66a65c powerpc: Add denormalisation exception handling for POWER6/7
On POWER6 and POWER7 if the input operand to an instruction is a
denormalised single precision binary floating point value we can take
a denormalisation exception where it's expected that the hypervisor
(HV=1) will fix up the inputs before the instruction is run.

This adds code to handle this denormalisation exception for POWER6 and
POWER7.

It also add a CONFIG_PPC_DENORMALISATION option and sets it in
pseries/ppc64_defconfig.

This is useful on bare metal systems only. Based on patch from Milton
Miller.

David S. Miller b48b63a1f6 Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net
Conflicts:
	net/netfilter/nfnetlink_log.c
	net/netfilter/xt_LOG.c

Rather easy conflict resolution, the 'net' tree had bug fixes to make
sure we checked if a socket is a time-wait one or not and elide the
logging code if so.

Whereas on the 'net-next' side we are calculating the UID and GID from
the creds using different interfaces due to the user namespace changes
from Eric Biederman.

Timur Tabi 34f84b5b5b powerpc/85xx: introduce support for the Freescale / iVeia P1022RDK
The Freescale / iVeia P1022RDK reference board is a small-factor board
with a Freescale P1022 SOC. It includes:

1) 512 MB 64-bit DDR3-800 (max) memory
2) 8MB SPI serial flash memory for boot loader
3) Bootable 4-bit SD/MMC port
4) Two 10/100/1000 Ethernet connectors
5) One SATA port
6) Two USB ports
7) One PCIe x4 slot
8) DVI video connector
9) Audio input and output jacks, powered by a Wolfson WM8960 codec.

Unlike the P1022DS, the P1022RDK does not have any localbus devices,
presumably because of the localbus / DIU multiplexing restriction of
the P1022 SOC.

Linus Torvalds 2e341ca686 Sound updates for 3.5-rc1
This is the first big chunk for 3.5 merges of sound stuff.
There are a few big changes in different areas. First off, the
streaming logic of USB-audio endpoints has been largely rewritten
for the better support of "implicit feedback". If anything about USB
got broken, this change has to be checked.

For HD-audio, the resume procedure was changed; instead of delaying
the resume of the hardware until the first use, now waking up immediately
at resume. This is for buggy BIOS.

For ASoC, dynamic PCM support and the improved support for digital links
between off-SoC devices are major framework changes.

 Some highlights are below:

 * HD-audio
 - Avoid the accesses of invalid pin-control bits that may stall the codec
 - V-ref setup cleanups
 - Fix the races in power-saving code
 - Fix the races in codec cache hashes and connection lists
 - Split some common codes for BIOS auto-parser to hda_auto_parser.c
 - Changed the PM resume code to wake up immediately for buggy BIOS
 - Creative SoundCore3D support
 - Add Conexant CX20751/2/3/4 codec support

 * ASoC
 - Dynamic PCM support, allowing support for SoCs with internal routing
through components with tight sequencing and formatting constraints
within their internal paths or where there are multiple components
connected with CPU managed DMA controllers inside the SoC.
 - Greatly improved support for direct digital links between off-SoC
devices, providing a much simpler way of connecting things like digital
   basebands to CODECs.
 - Much more fine grained and robust locking, cleaning up some of the
confusion that crept in with multi-component.
 - CPU support for nVidia Tegra 30 I2S and audio hub controllers and
   ST-Ericsson MSP I2S controolers
 - New CODEC drivers for Cirrus CS42L52, LAPIS Semiconductor ML26124, Texas
   Instruments LM49453.
 - Some regmap changes needed by the Tegra I2S driver.
 - mc13783 audio support.

 * Misc
 - Rewrite with module_pci_driver()
 - Xonar DGX support for snd-oxygen
 - Improvement of packet handling in snd-firewire driver
 - New USB-endpoint streaming logic
 - Enhanced M-audio FTU quirks and relevant cleanups
 - Increment the support of OSS devices to 256
 - snd-aloop accuracy improvement

There are a few more pending changes for 3.5, but they will be
sent slightly later as partly depending on the changes of DRM.

Remove CONFIG_POWER4_ONLY, the option is badly named and only does two
things:

- It wraps the MMU segment table code. With feature fixups there is

Instead of making this a compile option just do it at runtime via

Timur Tabi 0c350a9a5c powerpc/85xx: allow CONFIG_PHYS_64BIT to be selectable
Remove the "select PHYS_64BIT" from the Kconfig entry for the P1022DS,
so that large physical address support is a selectable option for non-CoreNet
reference boards.

The option is enabled in mpc85xx_[smp_]defconfig so that the default is
unchanged. However, now it can be deselected.

The P1022DS had this option defined because the default device tree for
this board uses 36-bit addresses. This had the side-effect of forcing
this option on for all boards that use mpc85xx_[smp_]defconfig. Some
users may want to disable this feature to create an optimized configuration
for boards with <= 2GB of RAM.

Suzuki Poulose 0f890c8d20 powerpc: Rename mapping based RELOCATABLE to DYNAMIC_MEMSTART for BookE
The current implementation of CONFIG_RELOCATABLE in BookE is based
on mapping the page aligned kernel load address to KERNELBASE. This
approach however is not enough for platforms, where the TLB page size
is large (e.g, 256M on 44x). So we are renaming the RELOCATABLE used
currently in BookE to DYNAMIC_MEMSTART to reflect the actual method.

The CONFIG_RELOCATABLE for PPC32(BookE) based on processing of the
dynamic relocations will be introduced in the later in the patch series.

This change would allow the use of the old method of RELOCATABLE for
platforms which can afford to enforce the page alignment (platforms with
smaller TLB size).

Changes since v3:

* Introduced a new config, NONSTATIC_KERNEL, to denote a kernel which is
either a RELOCATABLE or DYNAMIC_MEMSTART(Suggested by: Josh Boyer)

So I've had one of these for a while and it looks like the vendor never
bothered submitting the support upstream.

This adds it using ppc40x_simple and provides a device-tree.

There are some changes to the boot wrapper because the way u-boot works
on this thing, it seems to expect a multipart image with the kernel,
initrd and dtb in it.

The USB support is missing as it needs the yet unmerged driver for
the DWC OTG part and the GPIOs may need further definition in the dts.

Jimi Xenidis cc35b67668 powerpc/book3e: Add Chroma as a new WSP/PowerEN platform.
This patch add the Chroma platform to WSP/PowerEN, which is a PCIe
card (a defconfig is included).

The card includes an H8 service processor that is used to manage the
card. The H8 is connected over the second serial UART on the PowerEN
chip so this patch includes a simple 16550 driver to enable
communication, mostly for "power off" and "rebooting".

This patch also includes a, WSP specific, "halt" method that will shut
of all A2 cores but still leave power on at the chip level. This is
desirable, especially if you wish to interrogate the chip with a
hardware probe after the halt.

Tony Breeds 3b3bceef26 net: fix IBM EMAC driver after rename.
In commit 9aa3283595 (ehea/ibm*: Move the
IBM drivers) the IBM_NEW_EMAC* were renames to IBM_EMAC*

The conversion was incomplete so that even if the driver was added to
the .config it wasn't built, but there were no errors). In this commit
we also update the various defconfigs that use EMAC to use the new
Kconfig symbol, and explicitly add the NET_VENDOR_IBM guard.

We do not explicitly select the Kconfig dependencies, as this would force
EMAC on. Doing it in the defconfig allows more flexibility.

Tested on a canyondlands board.

Anton Blanchard 7a0200f66b powerpc: Enable lockup and hung task detectors in pseries and ppc64 defeconfigs
As a result of changes to Kconfig files, we no longer enable
the lockup and hung task detectors. Both are very light weight
and provide useful information in the event of a hang, so
reenable them.

Dave Kleikamp 9661534d6a powerpc/47x: allow kernel to be loaded in higher physical memory
The 44x code (which is shared by 47x) assumes the available physical memory
begins at 0x00000000. This is not necessarily the case in an AMP
environment.

Support CONFIG_RELOCATABLE for 476 in order to allow the kernel to be
loaded into a higher memory range.
