Pull signal/exit/ptrace updates from Eric Biederman:
"This set of changes deletes some dead code, makes a lot of cleanups
which hopefully make the code easier to follow, and fixes bugs found
along the way.
The end-game which I have not yet reached yet is for fatal signals
that generate coredumps to be short-circuit deliverable from
complete_signal, for force_siginfo_to_task not to require changing
userspace configured signal delivery state, and for the ptrace stops
to always happen in locations where we can guarantee on all
architectures that the all of the registers are saved and available on
the stack.
Removal of profile_task_ext, profile_munmap, and profile_handoff_task
are the big successes for dead code removal this round.
A bunch of small bug fixes are included, as most of the issues
reported were small enough that they would not affect bisection so I
simply added the fixes and did not fold the fixes into the changes
they were fixing.
There was a bug that broke coredumps piped to systemd-coredump. I
dropped the change that caused that bug and replaced it entirely with
something much more restrained. Unfortunately that required some
rebasing.
Some successes after this set of changes: There are few enough calls
to do_exit to audit in a reasonable amount of time. The lifetime of
struct kthread now matches the lifetime of struct task, and the
pointer to struct kthread is no longer stored in set_child_tid. The
flag SIGNAL_GROUP_COREDUMP is removed. The field group_exit_task is
removed. Issues where task->exit_code was examined with
signal->group_exit_code should been examined were fixed.
There are several loosely related changes included because I am
cleaning up and if I don't include them they will probably get lost.
The original postings of these changes can be found at:

There have historically been two big uses of do_exit. The first is
it's design use to be the guts of the exit(2) system call. The second
use is to terminate a task after something catastrophic has happened
like a NULL pointer in kernel code. The function make_task_dead
has been added to accomidate the second use.
The call to do_exit in Linvalidmask is clearly not a normal userspace
exit. As failure handling there are two possible ways to go.
If userspace can trigger the issue force_exit_sig should be called.
Otherwise make_task_dead probably from the implementation of die
is appropriate.
Replace the call of do_exit in Linvalidmask with make_task_dead as
I don't know xtensa and especially xtensa assembly language well
enough to do anything else.

The previous commit fixed up all shell scripts to not include
include/config/auto.conf.
Now that include/config/auto.conf is only included by Makefiles,
we can change it into a more Make-friendly form.
Previously, Kconfig output string values enclosed with double-quotes
(both in the .config and include/config/auto.conf):
CONFIG_X="foo bar"
Unlike shell, Make handles double-quotes (and single-quotes as well)
verbatim. We must rip them off when used.
There are some patterns:
[1] $(patsubst "%",%,$(CONFIG_X))
[2] $(CONFIG_X:"%"=%)
[3] $(subst ",,$(CONFIG_X))
[4] $(shell echo $(CONFIG_X))
These are not only ugly, but also fragile.
[1] and [2] do not work if the value contains spaces, like
CONFIG_X=" foo bar "
[3] does not work correctly if the value contains double-quotes like
CONFIG_X="foo\"bar"
[4] seems to work better, but has a cost of forking a process.
Anyway, quoted strings were always PITA for our Makefiles.
This commit changes Kconfig to stop quoting in include/config/auto.conf.

There are two big uses of do_exit. The first is it's design use to be
the guts of the exit(2) system call. The second use is to terminate
a task after something catastrophic has happened like a NULL pointer
in kernel code.
Add a function make_task_dead that is initialy exactly the same as
do_exit to cover the cases where do_exit is called to handle
catastrophic failure. In time this can probably be reduced to just a
light wrapper around do_task_dead. For now keep it exactly the same so
that there will be no behavioral differences introducing this new
concept.
Replace all of the uses of do_exit that use it for catastraphic
task cleanup with make_task_dead to make it clear what the code
is doing.
As part of this rename rewind_stack_do_exit
rewind_stack_and_make_dead.

Naresh reported another architecture that was broken by the same typo that
was already fixed for three architectures: mips also refers to the
futex_atomic_op_inuser_local() function by the wrong name and runs into a
missing closing '}' as well.
Going through the source tree the same typo was found in the documentation
as well as in the xtensa code, both of which ended up escaping the
regression testing so far. In the case of xtensa, it appears that the
broken code path is only used when building for platforms that are not
supported by the default gcc configuration, so they are impossible to test
for with default setups.
After going through these more carefully and fixing up the typos, all
architectures have been build-tested again to ensure that this is now
complete.

The printk header file includes ratelimit_types.h for its __ratelimit()
based usage. It is required for the static initializer used in
printk_ratelimited(). It uses a raw_spinlock_t and includes the
spinlock_types.h.
PREEMPT_RT substitutes spinlock_t with a rtmutex based implementation and so
its spinlock_t implmentation (provided by spinlock_rt.h) includes rtmutex.h and
atomic.h which leads to recursive includes where defines are missing.
By including only the raw_spinlock_t defines it avoids the atomic.h
related includes at this stage.

The boot-time detection of futex_atomic_cmpxchg_inatomic() has a bug on
some 32-bit arm builds, and Thomas Gleixner suggested that setting
CONFIG_HAVE_FUTEX_CMPXCHG would avoid the problem, as it is always present
anyway.
Looking into which other architectures could do the same showed that almost
all architectures have it, the exceptions being:
- some old 32-bit MIPS uniprocessor cores without ll/sc
- one xtensa variant with no SMP
- 32-bit SPARC when built for SMP
Fix MIPS And Xtensa by rearranging the generic code to let it be used
as a fallback.
For SPARC, the SMP definition just ends up turning off futex anyway, so
this can be done at Kconfig time instead. Note that sparc32 glibc requires
the CASA instruction for its mutexes anyway, which is only available when
running on SPARCv9 or LEON CPUs, but needs to be implemented in the sparc32
kernel for those.

"While looking at some issues related to the exit path in the kernel I
found several instances where the code is not using the existing
abstractions properly.
This set of changes introduces force_fatal_sig a way of sending a
signal and not allowing it to be caught, and corrects the misuse of
the existing abstractions that I found.
A lot of the misuse of the existing abstractions are silly things such
as doing something after calling a no return function, rolling BUG by
hand, doing more work than necessary to terminate a kernel thread, or
calling do_exit(SIGKILL) instead of calling force_sig(SIGKILL).
In the review a deficiency in force_fatal_sig and force_sig_seccomp
where ptrace or sigaction could prevent the delivery of the signal was
found. I have added a change that adds SA_IMMUTABLE to change that
makes it impossible to interrupt the delivery of those signals, and
allows backporting to fix force_sig_seccomp
And Arnd found an issue where a function passed to kthread_run had the
wrong prototype, and after my cleanup was failing to build."

- Revert the printk format based wchan() symbol resolution as it can leak
the raw value in case that the symbol is not resolvable.
- Make wchan() more robust and work with all kind of unwinders by
enforcing that the task stays blocked while unwinding is in progress.
- Prevent sched_fork() from accessing an invalid sched_task_group
- Improve asymmetric packing logic
- Extend scheduler statistics to RT and DL scheduling classes and add
statistics for bandwith burst to the SCHED_FAIR class.
- Properly account SCHED_IDLE entities
- Prevent a potential deadlock when initial priority is assigned to a
newly created kthread. A recent change to plug a race between cpuset and
__sched_setscheduler() introduced a new lock dependency which is now
triggered. Break the lock dependency chain by moving the priority
assignment to the thread function.
- Fix the idle time reporting in /proc/uptime for NOHZ enabled systems.
- Improve idle balancing in general and especially for NOHZ enabled
systems.
- Provide proper interfaces for live patching so it does not have to
fiddle with scheduler internals.
- Add cluster aware scheduling support.
- A small set of tweaks for RT (irqwork, wait_task_inactive(), various
scheduler options and delaying mmdrop)
- The usual small tweaks and improvements all over the place

Pull scheduler updates from Thomas Gleixner:
- Revert the printk format based wchan() symbol resolution as it can
leak the raw value in case that the symbol is not resolvable.
A recent change to plug a race between cpuset
and __sched_setscheduler() introduced a new lock dependency which is
now triggered.

Pull memory folios from Matthew Wilcox:
"Add memory folios, a new type to represent either order-0 pages or the
head page of a compound page. This should be enough infrastructure to
support filesystems converting from pages to folios.
The point of all this churn is to allow filesystems and the page cache
to manage memory in larger chunks than PAGE_SIZE. The original plan
was to use compound pages like THP does, but I ran into problems with
some functions expecting only a head page while others expect the
precise page containing a particular byte.
The folio type allows a function to declare that it's expecting only a
head page. Almost incidentally, this allows us to remove various calls
to VM_BUG_ON(PageTail(page)) and compound_head().
This converts just parts of the core MM and the page cache. For 5.17,
we intend to convert various filesystems (XFS and AFS are ready; other
filesystems may make it) and also convert more of the MM and page
cache to folios. For 5.18, multi-page folios should be ready.
The multi-page folios offer some improvement to some workloads. The
80% win is real, but appears to be an artificial benchmark (postgres
startup, which isn't a serious workload). Real workloads (eg building
the kernel, running postgres in a steady state, etc) seem to benefit
between 0-10%. I haven't heard of any performance losses as a result
of this series. Nobody has done any serious performance tuning; I
imagine that tweaking the readahead algorithm could provide some more
interesting wins. There are also other places where we could choose to
create large folios and currently do not, such as writes that are
larger than PAGE_SIZE.

Documentation/kbuild/makefiles.rst suggests to use "archclean" for
cleaning arch/$(SRCARCH)/boot/, but it is not a hard requirement.
Since commit d92cc4d516 ("kbuild: require all architectures to have
arch/$(SRCARCH)/Kbuild"), we can use the "subdir- += boot" trick for
all architectures. This can take advantage of the parallel option (-j)
for "make clean".
I also cleaned up the comments in arch/$(SRCARCH)/Makefile. The "archdep"

Replace the blk_poll interface that requires the caller to keep a queue
and cookie from the submissions with polling based on the bio.
Polling for the bio itself leads to a few advantages:
- the cookie construction can made entirely private in blk-mq.c
- the caller does not need to remember the request_queue and cookie
separately and thus sidesteps their lifetime issues
- keeping the device and the cookie inside the bio allows to trivially
support polling BIOs remapping by stacking drivers
- a lot of code to propagate the cookie back up the submission path can
be removed entirely.

Rebooting xtensa images loaded with the '-kernel' option in qemu does
not work. When executing a reboot command, the qemu session either hangs
or experiences an endless sequence of error messages.
Kernel panic - not syncing: Unrecoverable error in exception handler
Reset code jumps to the CPU restart address, but Linux can not recover
from there because code and data in the kernel init sections have been
discarded and overwritten at this point.
XTFPGA platforms have a means to reset the CPU by writing 0xdead into a
specific FPGA IO address. When used in QEMU the kernel image loaded with
the '-kernel' option gets restored to its original state allowing the
machine to boot successfully.
Use that mechanism to attempt a platform reset. If it does not work,
fall back to the existing mechanism.

Failed to request irq 0 (timer)
Fix that by calling irqchip_init only when CONFIG_USE_OF is selected and
calling legacy interrupt controller init otherwise.
Fixes: da844a8177 ("xtensa: add device trees support")
Signed-off-by: Max Filippov <jcmvbkbc@gmail.com>
CONFIG_OF can be set by a randconfig or by a user -- without setting the
early flattree option (OF_EARLY_FLATTREE). This causes build errors.
However, if randconfig or a user sets USE_OF in the Xtensa config,
the right kconfig symbols are set to fix the build.
Fixes these build errors:

Invoking scripts/checkkconfigsymbols.py in the Linux-kernel source tree
located the following issues:
1. TREE_PREEMPT_RCU
Referencing files: arch/sh/configs/sdk7786_defconfig
It should now be CONFIG_PREEMPT_RCU. Except that the CONFIG_PREEMPT=y in
that same file implies CONFIG_PREEMPT_RCU=y. Therefore, delete the
CONFIG_TREE_PREEMPT_RCU=y line.
The reason is as follows:
In kernel/rcu/Kconfig, we have
config PREEMPT_RCU
bool
default y if PREEMPTION
https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/kbuild/kconfig-language.txt says,
"The default value is only assigned to the config symbol if no other value
was set by the user (via the input prompt above)."
there is no prompt in config PREEMPT_RCU entry, so we are guaranteed to
get CONFIG_PREEMPT_RCU=y when CONFIG_PREEMPT is present.
2. RCU_CPU_STALL_INFO
Referencing files: arch/xtensa/configs/nommu_kc705_defconfig
The old Kconfig option RCU_CPU_STALL_INFO was removed by commit
75c27f119b ("rcu: Remove CONFIG_RCU_CPU_STALL_INFO"), and the kernel
now acts as if this Kconfig option was unconditionally enabled.
3. RCU_NOCB_CPU_ALL
Referencing files:
Documentation/RCU/Design/Memory-Ordering/Tree-RCU-Memory-Ordering.rst
This is an old snapshot of the code. I update this from the real
rcu_prepare_for_idle() function in kernel/rcu/tree_plugin.h.
This change was tested by invoking "make htmldocs".
4. RCU_TORTURE_TESTS
Referencing files: kernel/rcu/rcutorture.c
Forward-progress checking conflicts with CPU-stall testing, so we should
complain at "modprobe rcutorture" when both are enabled.

The main content for 5.15 is a series that cleans up the handling of
strncpy_from_user() and strnlen_user(), removing a lot of slightly
incorrect versions of these in favor of the lib/strn*.c helpers
that implement these correctly and more efficiently.
The only architectures that retain a private version now are
mips, ia64, um and parisc. I had offered to convert those at all,
but Thomas Bogendoerfer wanted to keep the mips version for the
moment until he had a chance to do regression testing.

started cleaning up various pieces of code related to do_exit. Most of
that code I did not manage to get tested and reviewed before the merge

merged.
The first change is simply the removal of the bdflush system call. The
code has now been disabled long enough that even the oldest userspace
working userspace setups anyone can find to test are fine with the
bdflush system call being removed.
Changing m68k fsp040_die to use force_sigsegv(SIGSEGV) instead of
calling do_exit directly is interesting only in that it is nearly the
most difficult of the incorrect uses of do_exit to remove.
The change to the seccomp code to simply send a signal instead of
calling do_coredump directly is a very nice little cleanup made
possible by realizing the existing signal sending helpers were missing
a little bit of functionality that is easy to provide"

None of arch/xtensa/variants/*/ has Makefile, so 'buildvar' is always
empty.
Perhaps, downstream variant code might be dropped in, but given the

Most architectures do not need a custom implementation, and in most
cases the generic implementation is preferred, so change the polariy
on these Kconfig symbols to require architectures to select them when
they provide their own version.
The new name is CONFIG_ARCH_HAS_{STRNCPY_FROM,STRNLEN}_USER.
The remaining architectures at the moment are: ia64, mips, parisc,
um and xtensa. We should probably convert these as well, but
I was not sure how far to take this series. Thomas Bogendoerfer
had some concerns about converting mips but may still do some
more detailed measurements to see which version is better.

alloc_tty_driver was deprecated by tty_alloc_driver in commit
7f0bc6a68e (TTY: pass flags to alloc_tty_driver) in 2012.
I never got into eliminating alloc_tty_driver until now. So we still
have two functions for allocating drivers which might be confusing. So
get rid of alloc_tty_driver uses to eliminate it for good in the next
patch.
Note we need to switch return value checking as tty_alloc_driver uses
ERR_PTR. And flags are now a parameter of tty_alloc_driver.

When a tty driver pointer is used as a return value of struct
console's device() hook, don't store a semi-state into global variable
which holds the tty driver. It could mean console::device() would return
a bogus value. This is important esp. after the next patch where we
switch from alloc_tty_driver to tty_alloc_driver. tty_alloc_driver
returns ERR_PTR in case of error and that might have unexpected results
as the code doesn't expect this.

While alloc_tty_driver failure in rs_init would mean we have much bigger
problem, there is no reason to panic when tty_register_driver fails
there. It can fail for various reasons.
So handle the failure gracefully. Actually handle them both while at it.
This will make at least the console functional as it was enabled earlier
by console_initcall in iss_console_init. Instead of shooting down the
whole system.
We move tty_port_init() after alloc_tty_driver(), so that we don't need
to destroy the port in case the latter function fails.

The get_unaligned()/put_unaligned() helpers are traditionally architecture
specific, with the two main variants being the "access-ok.h" version
that assumes unaligned pointer accesses always work on a particular
architecture, and the "le-struct.h" version that casts the data to a
byte aligned type before dereferencing, for architectures that cannot
always do unaligned accesses in hardware.
Based on the discussion linked below, it appears that the access-ok
version is not realiable on any architecture, but the struct version
probably has no downsides. This series changes the code to use the
same implementation on all architectures, addressing the few exceptions
separately.

kernel.h is being used as a dump for all kinds of stuff for a long time.
Here is the attempt to start cleaning it up by splitting out panic and
oops helpers.
There are several purposes of doing this:
- dropping dependency in bug.h
- dropping a loop by moving out panic_notifier.h
- unload kernel.h from something which has its own domain
At the same time convert users tree-wide to use new headers, although for
the time being include new header back to kernel.h to avoid twisted
indirected includes for existing users.

Currently most platforms define pmd_pgtable() as pmd_page() duplicating
the same code all over. Instead just define a default value i.e
pmd_page() for pmd_pgtable() and let platforms override when required via
<asm/pgtable.h>. All the existing platform that override pmd_pgtable()
have been moved into their respective <asm/pgtable.h> header in order to
precede before the new generic definition. This makes it much cleaner
with reduced code.

I. Background: Sparse Memory Mappings
When we manage sparse memory mappings dynamically in user space - also
sometimes involving MAP_NORESERVE - we want to dynamically populate/
discard memory inside such a sparse memory region. Example users are
hypervisors (especially implementing memory ballooning or similar
technologies like virtio-mem) and memory allocators. In addition, we want
to fail in a nice way (instead of generating SIGBUS) if populating does
not succeed because we are out of backend memory (which can happen easily
with file-based mappings, especially tmpfs and hugetlbfs).
While MADV_DONTNEED, MADV_REMOVE and FALLOC_FL_PUNCH_HOLE allow for
reliably discarding memory for most mapping types, there is no generic
approach to populate page tables and preallocate memory.
Although mmap() supports MAP_POPULATE, it is not applicable to the concept
of sparse memory mappings, where we want to populate/discard dynamically
and avoid expensive/problematic remappings. In addition, we never
actually report errors during the final populate phase - it is best-effort
only.
fallocate() can be used to preallocate file-based memory and fail in a
safe way. However, it cannot really be used for any private mappings on
anonymous files via memfd due to COW semantics. In addition, fallocate()
does not actually populate page tables, so we still always get pagefaults
on first access - which is sometimes undesired (i.e., real-time workloads)
and requires real prefaulting of page tables, not just a preallocation of
backend storage. There might be interesting use cases for sparse memory
regions along with mlockall(MCL_ONFAULT) which fallocate() cannot satisfy
as it does not prefault page tables.
II. On preallcoation/prefaulting from user space
Because we don't have a proper interface, what applications (like QEMU and
databases) end up doing is touching (i.e., reading+writing one byte to not
overwrite existing data) all individual pages.
However, that approach
1) Can result in wear on storage backing, because we end up reading/writing
each page; this is especially a problem for dax/pmem.
2) Can result in mmap_sem contention when prefaulting via multiple
threads.
3) Requires expensive signal handling, especially to catch SIGBUS in case
of hugetlbfs/shmem/file-backed memory. For example, this is
problematic in hypervisors like QEMU where SIGBUS handlers might already
be used by other subsystems concurrently to e.g, handle hardware errors.
"Simply" doing preallocation concurrently from other thread is not that
easy.
III. On MADV_WILLNEED
Extending MADV_WILLNEED is not an option because
1. It would change the semantics: "Expect access in the near future." and
"might be a good idea to read some pages" vs. "Definitely populate/
preallocate all memory and definitely fail on errors.".
2. Existing users (like virtio-balloon in QEMU when deflating the balloon)
don't want populate/prealloc semantics. They treat this rather as a hint
to give a little performance boost without too much overhead - and don't
expect that a lot of memory might get consumed or a lot of time
might be spent.
IV. MADV_POPULATE_READ and MADV_POPULATE_WRITE
Let's introduce MADV_POPULATE_READ and MADV_POPULATE_WRITE, inspired by
MAP_POPULATE, with the following semantics:
1. MADV_POPULATE_READ can be used to prefault page tables just like
manually reading each individual page. This will not break any COW
mappings. The shared zero page might get mapped and no backend storage
might get preallocated -- allocation might be deferred to
write-fault time. Especially shared file mappings require an explicit
fallocate() upfront to actually preallocate backend memory (blocks in
the file system) in case the file might have holes.
2. If MADV_POPULATE_READ succeeds, all page tables have been populated
(prefaulted) readable once.
3. MADV_POPULATE_WRITE can be used to preallocate backend memory and
prefault page tables just like manually writing (or
reading+writing) each individual page. This will break any COW
mappings -- e.g., the shared zeropage is never populated.
4. If MADV_POPULATE_WRITE succeeds, all page tables have been populated
(prefaulted) writable once.
5. MADV_POPULATE_READ and MADV_POPULATE_WRITE cannot be applied to special
mappings marked with VM_PFNMAP and VM_IO. Also, proper access
permissions (e.g., PROT_READ, PROT_WRITE) are required. If any such
mapping is encountered, madvise() fails with -EINVAL.
6. If MADV_POPULATE_READ or MADV_POPULATE_WRITE fails, some page tables
might have been populated.
7. MADV_POPULATE_READ and MADV_POPULATE_WRITE will return -EHWPOISON
when encountering a HW poisoned page in the range.
8. Similar to MAP_POPULATE, MADV_POPULATE_READ and MADV_POPULATE_WRITE
cannot protect from the OOM (Out Of Memory) handler killing the
process.
While the use case for MADV_POPULATE_WRITE is fairly obvious (i.e.,
preallocate memory and prefault page tables for VMs), one issue is that
whenever we prefault pages writable, the pages have to be marked dirty,
because the CPU could dirty them any time. while not a real problem for
hugetlbfs or dax/pmem, it can be a problem for shared file mappings: each
page will be marked dirty and has to be written back later when evicting.
MADV_POPULATE_READ allows for optimizing this scenario: Pre-read a whole
mapping from backend storage without marking it dirty, such that eviction
won't have to write it back. As discussed above, shared file mappings
might require an explciit fallocate() upfront to achieve
preallcoation+prepopulation.
Although sparse memory mappings are the primary use case, this will also
be useful for other preallocate/prefault use cases where MAP_POPULATE is
not desired or the semantics of MAP_POPULATE are not sufficient: as one
example, QEMU users can trigger preallocation/prefaulting of guest RAM
after the mapping was created -- and don't want errors to be silently
suppressed.
Looking at the history, MADV_POPULATE was already proposed in 2013 [1],
however, the main motivation back than was performance improvements --
which should also still be the case.
V. Single-threaded performance comparison
I did a short experiment, prefaulting page tables on completely *empty
mappings/files* and repeated the experiment 10 times. The results
correspond to the shortest execution time. In general, the performance
benefit for huge pages is negligible with small mappings.
V.1: Private mappings
POPULATE_READ and POPULATE_WRITE is fastest. Note that
Reading/POPULATE_READ will populate the shared zeropage where applicable
-- which result in short population times.
The fastest way to allocate backend storage (here: swap or huge pages) and
prefault page tables is POPULATE_WRITE.
V.2: Shared mappings
fallocate() is fastest, however, doesn't prefault page tables.
POPULATE_WRITE is faster than simple writes and read/writes.
POPULATE_READ is faster than simple reads.
Without a fd, the fastest way to allocate backend storage and prefault
page tables is POPULATE_WRITE. With an fd, the fastest way is usually
FALLOCATE+POPULATE_READ or FALLOCATE+POPULATE_WRITE respectively; one
exception are actual files: FALLOCATE+Read is slightly faster than
FALLOCATE+POPULATE_READ.
The fastest way to allocate backend storage prefault page tables is
FALLOCATE+POPULATE_WRITE -- except when dealing with actual files; then,
FALLOCATE+POPULATE_READ is fastest and won't directly mark all pages as
dirty.

- Changes to core scheduling facilities:
- Add "Core Scheduling" via CONFIG_SCHED_CORE=y, which enables
coordinated scheduling across SMT siblings. This is a much
requested feature for cloud computing platforms, to allow
the flexible utilization of SMT siblings, without exposing
untrusted domains to information leaks & side channels, plus
to ensure more deterministic computing performance on SMT
systems used by heterogenous workloads.
There's new prctls to set core scheduling groups, which
allows more flexible management of workloads that can share
siblings.
- Fix task->state access anti-patterns that may result in missed
wakeups and rename it to ->__state in the process to catch new
abuses.
- Load-balancing changes:
- Tweak newidle_balance for fair-sched, to improve
'memcache'-like workloads.
- "Age" (decay) average idle time, to better track & improve workloads
such as 'tbench'.
- Fix & improve energy-aware (EAS) balancing logic & metrics.
- Fix & improve the uclamp metrics.
- Fix task migration (taskset) corner case on !CONFIG_CPUSET.
- Fix RT and deadline utilization tracking across policy changes
- Introduce a "burstable" CFS controller via cgroups, which allows
bursty CPU-bound workloads to borrow a bit against their future
quota to improve overall latencies & batching. Can be tweaked
via /sys/fs/cgroup/cpu/<X>/cpu.cfs_burst_us.
- Rework assymetric topology/capacity detection & handling.
- Scheduler statistics & tooling:
- Disable delayacct by default, but add a sysctl to enable
it at runtime if tooling needs it. Use static keys and
other optimizations to make it more palatable.
- Use sched_clock() in delayacct, instead of ktime_get_ns().
- Misc cleanups and fixes.

We'd like all architectures to convert to ARCH_ATOMIC, as once all
architectures are converted it will be possible to make significant
cleanups to the atomics headers, and this will make it much easier to
generically enable atomic functionality (e.g. debug logic in the
instrumented wrappers).
As a step towards that, this patch migrates xtensa to ARCH_ATOMIC. The
arch code provides arch_{atomic,atomic64,xchg,cmpxchg}*(), and common
code wraps these with optional instrumentation to provide the regular
functions.
