Lv Zheng 6273f00e6e ACPICA: Fix buffer allocation issue for generic_serial_bus region accesses.
The size of the buffer allocated for generic_serial_bus region access
is not correct.  This patch introduces acpi_ex_get_serial_access_length()
to be invoked to obtain correct data buffer length.

Lv Zheng 506f57dd6d ACPICA: acpidump: Add support to generate acpidump release.
The acpidump is initiated by Bob Moore and Chao Guan, fixed and completed
by Lv Zheng.

This patch is a generation of the commit that adds acpidump release
automation into ACPICA release process. Lv Zheng.

Note that this patch doesn't replace the kernel shipped acpidump with the
new acpidump.  The replacement is done by further patches.

Lv Zheng a94e88cdd8 ACPICA: Tables: Avoid SSDT installation with acpi_gbl_disable_ssdt_table_load.
It is reported that when acpi_gbl_disable_ssdt_table_load is specified, user
still can see it installed into /sys/firmware/acpi/tables on Linux boxes.
This is because the option only stops table "loading", but doesn't stop
table "installing", thus it is still in the acpi_gbl_root_table_list. With
previous cleanups, it is possible to prevent SSDT installations to make
it not such confusing.  The global variable is also renamed.  Lv Zheng.

Lv Zheng 8a216d7f6a ACPICA: Tables: Cleanup ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxx flags.
This patch refines ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxx flags.  No functional changes.

The previous commits have introduced the following internal APIs:
1. acpi_tb_acquire_table: Acquire struct acpi_table_header according to
                       ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxx flags.
2. acpi_tb_release_table: Release struct acpi_table_header according to
                       ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxx flags.
3. acpi_tb_install_table: Make struct acpi_table_desc.Address not NULL according to
                       ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxx flags.
4. acpi_tb_uninstall_table: Make struct acpi_table_desc.Address NULL according to
                         ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxx flags.
5. acpi_tb_validate_table: Make struct acpi_table_desc.Pointer not NULL according to
                        ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxx flags.
6. acpi_tb_invalidate_table: Make struct acpi_table_desc.Pointer NULL according to
                          ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxx flags.
It thus detects that the ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_UNKNOWN is redundant to
ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_OVERRIDE.

The ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxTERN_VIRTUAL flags are named as VIRTUAL in order
not to confuse with x86 logical address, this patch also renames all
"logical override" into "virtual override".

Lv Zheng 86dfc6f339 ACPICA: Tables: Fix table checksums verification before installation.
The original table handling code does not always verify checksums before
installing a table, this is because code to achieve this must be
implemented here and there in the redundant code blocks.

There are two stages during table initialization:
1. "INSTALLED" after acpi_tb_install_table() and acpi_tb_override_table(),
   struct acpi_table_desc.Pointer is ensured to be NULL.  This can be safely used
   during OSPM's early boot stage.
2. "VALIDATED" after acpi_tb_validate_table(), struct acpi_table_desc.Pointer is
   ensured to be not NULL.  This must not be used during OSPM's early boot
   stage.

This patch changes acpi_tb_add_table() into an early boot safe API to reduce
code redundancies by changing the table state that is returned by this
function from "VALIDATED" to "INSTALLED".  Then the table verification
code can be done in a single place.  Originally, the acpi_tb_add_table() can
only be used by dynamic table loadings that are executed after early boot
stage, it cannot be used by static table loadings that are executed in
early boot stage as:
1.  The address of the table is a virtual address either maintained by
    OSPMs who call acpi_load_table() or by ACPICA whenever "Load" or
    "LoadTable" opcodes are executed, while during early boot stage,
    physical address of the table should be used for table loading.
2.  The API will ensure the state of the loaded table to be "VALIDATED"
    while during early boot stage, tables maintained by root table list
    should be kept as "INSTALLED".

To achieve this:
1. Rename acpi_tb_install_table() to acpi_tb_install_fixed_table() as it only
   applies to DSDT/FACS installation.  Rename acpi_tb_add_table() to
   acpi_tb_install_non_fixed_table() as it will be applied to the installation
   of the rest kinds of tables.
2. Introduce acpi_tb_install_table(), acpi_tb_install_and_override_table to collect
   redudant code where their invocations actually have slight differences.
   1. acpi_tb_install_table() is used to fill an struct acpi_table_desc where the
      table length is known to the caller.
   2. acpi_tb_install_and_override_table() is used to perform necessary
      overriding before installation.
3. Change a parameter of acpi_tb_install_non_fixed_table() from struct acpi_table_desc
   to acpi_physical_address to allow it to be invoked by static table
   loadings.  Also cleanup acpi_ex_load_op() and acpi_load_table() to accomodate
   to the parameter change.
4. Invoke acpi_tb_install_non_fixed_table() for all table loadings other than
   DSDT/FACS in acpi_tb_parse_root_table() to improve code maintainability
   (logics are collected in the single function).  Also delete useless code
   from acpi_tb_parse_root_table().
5. Remove all acpi_tb_validate_table() from acpi_tb_install_non_fixed_table() and
   acpi_tb_install_fixed_table() so that the table descriptor is kept in the
   state of "INSTALLED" but not "VALIDATED" after returning from these
   functions.
6. Introduce temporary struct acpi_table_desc (new_table_desc/old_table_desc) into
   the functions to indicate a table descriptor that is not maintained by
   acpi_gbl_root_table_list. Introduce acpi_tb_acquire_temporal_table() and
   acpi_tb_release_temporal_table() to handle the use cases of such temporal
   tables.  They are only used for verified installation.
7. Introduce acpi_tb_verify_table() to validate table and verify table
   checksum, also remove table checksum verification from
   acpi_tb_validate_table(). Invoke acpi_tb_validate_table() in the functions
   that will convert a table into "LOADED" state or invoke it from
   acpi_get_table_XXX() APIs. Invoke acpi_tb_verify_table() on temporary
   struct acpi_table_desc(s) that are going to be "INSTALLED".
8. Change acpi_tb_override_table() logic so that a temporary struct acpi_table_desc
   will be overridden before installtion, this makes code simpler.

After applying the patch, tables are always installed after being
overridden and the table checksums are always verified before installation.

Lv Zheng eb0c65bd2c ACPICA: Tables: Fix unbalanced table validations.
As acpi_tb_validate_table() returns failure on checksum verification without
doing invalidatation, all its invocations that are not done to a descriptor
stored in acpi_gbl_root_table_list are checked and balanced.

But this is not a real issue as the descritors that have been passed to
acpi_tb_add_table() are all virtual address tables and the validations are in
fact no-op.  The cleanup can ensure that any future extensions made on
acpi_tb_add_table() to allow it to be invoked with physical address tables
will not trigger memory leakage regressions.

Lv Zheng 7f9fc99cde ACPICA: Tables: Clean up split INSTALLED/VALIDATED table state logics.
This patch is mainly a naming cleanup to clarify hidden logics, no
functional changes.

acpi_initialize_tables() is used by Linux to install table addresses for
early boot steps.  During this stage, table addresses are mapped by
early_ioremap() mechanism which is different from the runtime IO mappings.
Thus it is not safe for ACPICA to keep mapped pointers in struct acpi_table_desc
structure during this stage.

In order to support this in ACPICA, table states are divided into
1. "INSTALLED" (where struct acpi_table_desc.Pointer is always NULL) and
2. "VALIDATED" (where struct acpi_table_desc.Pointer is always not NULL).
During acpi_initialize_tables(), table state are ensured to be "INSTALLED"
but not "VALIDATED".  This logic is ensured by the original code in very
ambigious way.  For example, currently acpi_tb_delete_table() is invoked in
some place to perform an uninstallation while it is invoked in other place
to perform an invalidation.  They happen to work just because no one enters
the penalty where the 2 behaviours are not equivalent.

The naming cleanups are made in this patch:
A. For installation and validation:
   There is code setting struct acpi_table_desc.Pointer first and delete it
   immediately to keep the descriptor's state as "INSTALLED" during the
   installation.  This patch implements this in more direct way.  After
   applying it, struct acpi_table_desc.Pointer will never be set in
   acpi_tb_install_table() and acpi_tb_override_table() as they are the only
   functions invoked during acpi_initialize_tables(). This is achieved by:
1. Rename acpi_tb_verify_table() to acpi_tb_validate_table() to clarify this
   change.
2. Rename acpi_tb_table_override() to acpi_tb_override_table() to keep nameing
   consistencies as other APIs (verb. Table).
3. Stops setting struct acpi_table_desc.Pointer in acpi_tb_install_table() and
   acpi_tb_table_override().
4. Introduce acpi_tb_acquire_table() to acquire the table pointer that is not
   maintained in the struct acpi_table_desc of the global root table list and
   rewrite acpi_tb_validate_table() using this new function to reduce
   redundancies.
5. Replace the table pointer using the overridden table pointer in
   acpi_tb_add_table(). As acpi_tb_add_table() is not invoked during early boot
   stage, tables returned from this functions should be "VALIDATED".  As
   acpi_tb_override_table() is modified by this patch to return a "INSTALLED"
   but not "VALIDATED" descriptor, to keep acpi_tb_add_table() unchanged,
   struct acpi_table_desc.Pointer is filled in acpi_tb_add_table().
B. For invalidation and uninstallation:
   The original code invalidate table by invoking acpi_tb_delete_table() here
   and there, but actually this function should only be used to uninstall
   tables.  This can work just because its invocations are equivalent to
   invalidation in some cases.
   This patch splits acpi_tb_delete_table() into acpi_tb_invalidate_table() and
   acpi_tb_uninstall_table() and cleans up the hidden logic using the new
   APIs.  This is achieved by:
1. Rename acpi_tb_delete_table() to acpi_tb_uninstall_table() as it is mainly
   called before resetting struct acpi_table_desc.Address.  Thus the table
   descriptor is in "not INSTALLED" state.  This patch enforces this by
   setting struct acpi_table_desc.Address to NULL in this function.
2. Introduce acpi_tb_invalidate_table() to be the reversal of
   acpi_tb_validate_table() and invoke it in acpi_tb_uninstall_table().
3. Introduce acpi_tb_release_table() to release the table pointer that is not
   maintained in acpi_gbl_root_table_list and rewrite acpi_tb_invalidate_table()
   using this new function to reduce redundancies.

After cleaning up, the maintainability of the internal APIs are also
improved:
1. acpi_tb_acquire_table: Acquire struct acpi_table_header according to
                       ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxx flags.
2. acpi_tb_release_table: Release struct acpi_table_header according to
                       ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxx flags.
3. acpi_tb_install_table: Make struct acpi_table_desc.Address not NULL according to
                       ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxx flags.
4. acpi_tb_uninstall_table: Make struct acpi_table_desc.Address NULL according to
                         ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxx flags.
5. acpi_tb_validate_table: Make struct acpi_table_desc.Pointer not NULL according to
                        ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxx flags.
6. acpi_tb_invalidate_table: Make struct acpi_table_desc.Pointer NULL according to
                          ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_xxx flags.
7. acpi_tb_override_table: Replace struct acpi_table_desc.Address and
                        struct acpi_table_desc.Flags.  It only happens in
                        "INSTALLED" state.

The patch has been unit tested in acpi_exec by:
1. Initializing;
2. Executing exc_tbl ASLTS tests;
3. Executing "Load" command.
So that all original acpi_tb_install_table() and acpi_tb_override_table()
invocations are covered.

Known Issues:
1. Cleanup acpi_tb_add_table() to Kill Code Redundancies
   Current implementation in acpi_tb_add_table() is not very clean, further
   patch can rewrite acpi_tb_add_table() with ordered acpi_tb_install_table(),
   acpi_tb_override_table() and acpi_tb_validate_table(). It is not done in this
   patch so that it is easy for the reviewers to understand the changes in
   this patch.

Lv Zheng 55df23f0d6 ACPICA: Tables: Fix multiple ACPI_FREE()s around acpi_tb_add_table().
Currently there are following issues in acpi_tb_add_table():
Following logic is currently correct:
1. When a table is allocated in acpi_ex_load_op(), if a reloading happens,
   the allocated memory is freed by acpi_tb_add_table() and AE_OK is
   returned to the caller to avoid the caller to free it again.
Following logic is currently incorrect:
1. When a table is allocated in acpi_ex_load_op() or by the
   acpi_load_table() caller, if the table is already loaded, there will be
   twice ACPI_FREE() called for the same pointer when acpi_tb_add_table()
   returns AE_ALREADY_EXISTS.

This patch only fixes the above incorrect logic in acpi_tb_add_table():
1. Only invoke acpi_tb_delete_table() if AE_OK is going to be returned.
2. After doing so, we do not invoke ACPI_FREE() when returning AE_OK;

Lv Zheng dc156adf0d ACPICA: Tables: Fix the issues in handling virtual addressed tables.
When table is overridden or reloaded, acpi_tb_delete_table() is called where
struct acpi_table_desc.Pointer will be NULL.  It thus is impossible for virtual
addressed tables to obtain the .Pointer again in acpi_tb_verify_table().

This patch stores virtual table addresses  (ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_ALLOCATED,
ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_UNKNOWN, ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_OVERRIDE) in the
struct acpi_table_desc.Address field and refills the struct acpi_table_desc.Pointer
using these addresses in acpi_tb_verify_table(). Note that if a table with
ACPI_TABLE_ORIGIN_ALLOCATED set is actually freed, the .Address field
should be invalidated and thus must be replaced with NULL to avoid wrong
future validations occuring in acpi_tb_verify_table().

Lv Zheng 5582982d1a ACPICA: Remove indent divergences to reduce maintenance overhead.
The divergences in the ACPICA files makes it difficult to maintain linuxize
ACPICA table commits.  This patch reduces such divergences before applying

Lv Zheng 69c841b6dd ACPICA: Update use of acpi_os_wait_events_complete interface.
This patch cleans up all of the acpi_os_wait_events_complete() invocations to
make it to be invoked inside of ACPICA in the way to accommodate Linux's
work queue implementation.

According to the report, current Linux kernel code is facing a boot time
race issue in the acpi_remove_notify_handler(). This is because:
Linux is using work queues to implement a deferred handler call environment
while ACPICA expects OSPM to implement acpi_os_wait_events_complete() using
wait queues.  The position to invoke a "waiter" is not suitable for a
"flusher" as new invocations can be scheduled after this position and
before the deletion of the handler from its management container.

Since the following commit has deleted acpi_os_wait_events_complete()
parameters, it thus might not be possible for OSPM to achieve a safe
removal using wait queues.  This requires ACPICA to be changed accordingly
to "flush" handlers rather than "wait" them to be drain up:

  Subject: Introduce acpi_os_wait_events_complete interface.

  This interface will block until asynchronous events like notifies
  and GPEs are complete. Within ACPICA, it is called before a notify or GPE
  handler is removed. ACPICA BZ 868.

This patch fixes this issue by invoking acpi_os_wait_events_complete() in the
way to "flush" things - it thus should be put to the position after handler
is removed from its management container but before it is destructed.

The technical concerns are:
1. MTX_NAMESPACE is used to protect things that acpi_os_wait_events_complete()
   might be waiting for, thus MTX_NAMESPACE must be unlocked before
   invoking acpi_os_wait_events_complete().
2. MTX_NAMESPACE is also used to implement the serialization of
   acpi_install_notify_handler() and acpi_remove_notify_handler(). This patch
   changes this logic, thus if there are many
   acpi_install/remove_notify_handler() invoked in parallel, the
   acpi_os_wait_events_complete() might face the races which could cause it
   never running to an end.  Normally this will require additional code to
   implement a separate locking facility which is not implemented due to 3.
3. Given ACPICA users will always invoke acpi_install_notify_handler() once
   during Linux module/device initialization and invoke
   acpi_remove_notify_handler() once during module/device finalization,
   problem stated in 2 will not happen in Linux environment due to the
   mutual exclusive module/device existence, this fix thus is sufficient.
Same concerns can apply to acpi_install/remove_gpe_handler(). Reported and
tested: Ronald Vink.  Fixed: Lv Zheng.

Bob Moore b944b29c90 ACPICA: Disassembler: Add support to decode _HID and _CID values.
For _HID and _CID, the disassembler will emit a string that describes
the device if the _HID/_CID value is recognized. acpihelp updated also.
acpihelp will now search for a specific ID as well as displaying
the list of "known" (to ACPICA) IDs.

This patch does not affect Linux kernel behavior as the disassembler
and the acpihelp are not shipped with it.

Lv Zheng 08e1d7c029 ACPICA: Enable auto-serialization as a default kernel behavior.
The previous commit "ACPICA: Add auto-serialization support for ill-behaved
control methods" introduced the auto-serialization facility as a workaround
that can be enabled by "acpi_auto_serialize":

This feature marks control methods that create named objects as "serialized"
to avoid unwanted AE_ALREADY_EXISTS control method evaluation failures.

Enable method auto-serialization as the default kernel behavior.  The new kernel
parameter is also changed from "acpi_auto_serialize" to "acpi_no_auto_serialize"
to reflect the default behavior.

Bob Moore d18255795b ACPICA: Ignore sync_level for methods that have been auto-serialized.
Cannot use a sync_level for methods that have been serialized at load-time
or runtime because this may interfere with any existing use of sync_levels
within the ASL code. So, we simply ignore the sync_level for these methods,
thus preserving any existing sync_level priorities. Note, the use of
sync_levels is actually rather rare within BIOS ASL code.

Bob Moore 22b5afce6a ACPICA: Add auto-serialization support for ill-behaved control methods.
This change adds support to automatically mark a control method as
"serialized" if the method creates any named objects. This will
positively prevent the method from being entered by more than one
thread and thus preventing a possible abort when an attempt is
made to create an object twice.

Implemented by parsing all non-serialize control methods at table
load time.

This feature is disabled by default and this patch also adds a new
Linux kernel parameter "acpi_auto_serialize" to allow this feature
to be turned on for a specific boot.

According to the reports, the "acpi_serialize" mechanism is broken as:

 A. The parallel method calls can still happen when the interpreter lock is
    released under the following conditions:
    1. External callbacks are invoked, for example, by the region handlers,
       the exception handlers, etc.;
    2. Module level execution is performed when Load/LoadTable opcodes are
       executed, and
    3. The _REG control methods are invoked to complete the region
       registrations.
 B. For the following situations, the interpreter lock need to be released
    even for a serialized method while currently, the lock-releasing
    operation is marked as a no-op by
    acpi_ex_relinquish/reacquire_interpreter() when this mechanism is
    enabled:
    1. Wait opcode is executed,
    2. Acquire opcode is executed, and
    3. Sleep opcode is executed.

This patch removes this mechanism and the internal
acpi_ex_relinquish/reacquire_interpreter() APIs.  Lv Zheng.

The original code was lost accidently, it was not generated along with the
following commit of mechanism improvements and thus not get merged:

  Subject: ACPICA: Add mechanism for early object repairs on a per-name basis

  Adds the framework to allow object repairs very early in the
  return object analysis. Enables repairs like string->unicode,
  etc.

This patch restores the implementation of the NULL element repair code for
ACPI_RTYPE_NONE.  In the original design, ACPI_RTYPE_NONE is defined to
collect simple NULL object repairs.

Bob Moore 4ac4c5fad8 ACPICA: Headers: Deploy #pragma pack (push) and (pop).
Use push and pop to both guarantee that the correct alignment is used,
and to restore the alignment to whatever it was before the header
was included.

It is reported that the #pragma pack(push/pop) directives are not supported
by the specific GCCs, but this patch still doesn't affect kernel build
as there are already #pragma pack([1]) directives used in the old ACPICA
headers, which means there shouldn't be GCCs that are currently used to
compile the ACPI kernels do not support #pragma pack() directives.

Lv Zheng 3334861b1e ACPICA: Update the conditions to enable the utility resource dump strings.
This patch enables resource dump functions for debugging purpose where
ACPI_DEBUG_OUTPUT is enabled.  Such functions are useful for developers
to track kernel issues when composing debugging patches.  They will be
optimized out during link stage for normal builds.

This patch updates the compilation condition used for the resource dump
related string tables to match the compilation environment used for
rsdump.c and rsdumpinfo.c.

This patch can help to improve the ACPICA release automation.  Lv Zheng.

Bob Moore d72c17a867 ACPICA: Utilities: Load of local test tables is now optional.
The utility has the capability to load some various tables to test
features of ACPICA. However, there are enough of them that the output
of the utility became confusing. With this change, only the required
local tables are displayed (RSDP, XSDT, etc.) along with the actual
tables loaded via the command line specification. This makes the
default output simler and easier to understand. The -el command line
option restores the original behavior for testing purposes.

This patch doesn't affect kernel behavior as Linux doesn't use ACPICA
allocation tracking implementation.

Bob Moore c03775c082 ACPICA: Improve support for 32/64 bit physical addresses in printf().
This change improves the support for physical addresses in printf
debug statements and other output on both 32-bit and 64-bit hosts.
It consistently outputs the appropriate number of bytes for each
host. The %p specifier is unsatisfactory since it does not emit
uniform output on all hosts/clib implementations (on some, leading
zeros are not supported, leading to difficult-to-read output).

Introduce a new function, acpi_get_data_full(), working in analogy
with acpi_get_data() except that it can execute a callback provided
as its 4th argument right after acpi_ns_get_attached_data() has
returned a success.

That will allow Linux to reference count the object pointed to by
*data before the namespace mutex is released so as to ensure that it
will not be freed going forward until the reference to it acquired
by acpi_get_data_full() is dropped.

Lv Zheng 481c13814a ACPICA: Remove bool usage from ACPICA.
The use of "bool" is not safe for ACPICA code where it is originally using
a "BOOLEAN" defined as "unsigned char".

This patch removes the only "bool" usage from kernel source tree to reduce
the source code differences between Linux and ACPICA upstream.

This patch is required by future acpidump release automation.

This patch reflects the improvment of a cleanup step which is performed in
the release process.

There are still spaces in the "linuxized" ACPICA files after special macro
invocations.  This is because indent treats comments and pre-processor
directives as spaces, thus we need to skip them.

Before applying this patch, cleanup code will search from keyword back to
end of line and wipe spaces between them.

After applying this patch, cleanup code will search to the end of the macro
invocations, skip "empty lines", "comments" and "pre-processor directives",
then wipe the spaces between the new line and the first non-spaces
characters.

Following improvements are thus achieved in the release automation by this
commit which are originally maintained manually:

Bob Moore 0249ed2444 ACPICA: Add option to favor 32-bit FADT addresses.
This change adds an option to favor 32-bit FADT addresses when there
is a conflict between the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the same
address. The default behavior is to use the 64-bit version in accordance
with the ACPI specification. This can now be overridden via the
AcpiGbl_Use32BitFadtAddresses flag. Lv Zheng.

Also, the "Convert FADT" and "Verify FADT" functions have been merged to
simplify the code, make it easier to understand, and make it easier to
maintain. Bob Moore.

Lv Zheng fab4610583 ACPICA: Cleanup the option of forcing the use of the RSDT.
This change adds a runtime option that will force ACPICA to use the
RSDT instead of the XSDT. Although the ACPI spec requires that an XSDT
be used instead of the RSDT, the XSDT has been found to be corrupt or
ill-formed on some machines.

This option is already in the Linux kernel.  When it is back ported to
ACPICA, code is re-written to follow ACPICA coding style.  This patch
is the generation of the integration.

Lv Zheng 671cc68dc6 ACPICA: Back port and refine validation of the XSDT root table.
Some platforms contain an XSDT that is ill-formed or otherwise invalid
(such as containing some or all entries that are NULL pointers).
This change adds a new function to validate the XSDT before actually
using it. If the XSDT is found to be invalid, ACPICA will now fall
back to using the RSDT instead.

This feature is already in the Linux kernel.  When it is back ported to
ACPICA, code is refined to follow ACPICA coding style and this patch
is the generation of the integration.

Bob Moore 5af2b6351b ACPICA: Disassembler: Improve pathname support for emitted External() statements.
This change adds full pathname support for external names that have been
resolved internally by the inclusion of additional ACPI tables (via the
iASL -e option). Without this change, the disassembler can emit multiple
externals for the same object, or it become confused when the Scope()
operator is used on an external object.

Linux kernel behaviour is not affected as the structure changes and the
new invocations are only used by compiler and disassembler which are
not shipped in the kernel currently.

Lv Zheng 9a0a359725 ACPICA: Resources: Fix loop termination for the get AML length function.
The loop terminates on a NULL resource pointer, which can never
happen since the loop simply increments a valid resource pointer.
This fix changes the loop to terminate on an end-of-buffer condition.

Problem can be seen by callers to AcpiSetCurrentResources with an
invalid or corrupted resource descriptor; or a resource descriptor
without an END_TAG descriptor.

Lv Zheng 45c9f78b25 ACPICA: Add __init for ACPICA initializers/finalizers.
This patch adds __init to the ACPICA documented initializers:
  acpi_initialize_tables()
  acpi_initialize_subsystem()
  acpi_load_tables()
  acpi_enable_subsystem()
  acpi_initialize_objects()
and to acpi_reallocate_root_table(), acpi_find_root_pointer() which
are also meant to be called only during initialization.

This patch adds __init to the ACPICA documented finalizer:
  acpi_terminate()
as this finalizer is only called in __init function now.

This change helps to reduce source code differences between
ACPICA upstream and Linux.

Lv Zheng 40bce100ca ACPICA: Cleanup asmlinkage for ACPICA APIs.
Add an asmlinkage wrapper around acpi_enter_sleep_state() to prevent
an empty stub from being called by assmebly code for ACPI_REDUCED_HARDWARE
set.

As arch/x86/kernel/acpi/wakeup_xx.S is only compiled when CONFIG_ACPI=y
and there are no users of ACPI_HARDWARE_REDUCED, currently this is in
fact not a real issue, but a cleanup to reduce source code differences
between Linux and ACPICA upstream.

Function acpi_ut_delete_caches() is meant to be used to implement
ACPI_ALLOCATE()/ACPI_FREE() mechanisms in ACPICA, so it should call
acpi_os_free() rather than ACPI_FREE().  Linux is not affected by this
issue as it uses kmem_cache instead of the ACPICA local cache, but
the change helps to reduce source code differences between Linux and
ACPICA upstream.

Lv Zheng cd27d79f56 ACPICA: Fix indentation issues for macro invocations.
During the automatic translation of the upstream ACPICA source code
into Linux kernel source code some extra white spaces are added by
the "indent" program at the beginning of each line which is an
invocation of a macro and there is no ";" at the end of the line.

For this reason, a new mode has been added to the translation scripts
to remove the extra spaces inserted before invoking such macros and add
an empty line between the invocations of such macros (like the other
function declarations).  This new mode is executed after executing
"indent" during the Linux release process.  Consequently, some
existing ACPICA source code in the Linux kernel tree needs to be
adjusted to allow the new scripts to work correctly.

The affected macros and files are:
 1. ACPI_HW_DEPENDENT_RETURN (acpixf.h/acdebug.h/acevents.h):
    This macro is used as a wrapper for hardware dependent APIs to offer
    a stub when the reduced hardware is configured during compilation.
 2. ACPI_EXPORT_SYMBOL (utglobal.c):
    This macro is used by Linux to export symbols to be found by Linux
    modules.  All such invocations are well formatted except those
    exported as global variables.

This can help to reduce the source code differences between Linux
and upstream ACPICA, and also help to automate the release process.
No functional or binary generation changes should result from it.

Lv Zheng d21f600b0e ACPICA: Deploy ACPI_EXPORT_SYMBOL_INIT for main ACPICA initialization interfaces.
This changes can reduce source code differences between Linux and ACPICA
upstream to help improving the release automation.

The side effect of applying this patch in Linux is:
1. Some ACPICA initialization/termination APIs are no longer exported in
   Linux, these include:
    acpi_load_tables
    acpi_initialize_subsystem
    acpi_enable_subsystem
    acpi_initialize_objects
    acpi_terminate
2. This patch does not affect the following APIs as they are currently not
   marked with ACPI_EXPORT_SYMBOL in Linux:
    acpi_reallocate_root_table
    acpi_initialize_tables
Such functions should not be exported as they are internal to ACPI
subsystem in Linux, and will only be invoked inside of ACPI subsystem's
initialization routines marked with __init and termination routines marked
with __exit.  While on other OSPMs, such functions may still need to be
exported.

Thus this patch adds the configurability for ACPICA, so that it leaves
OSPMs to determine if the __init/__exit marked functions should be exported
or not.  Lv Zheng.

The ACPI spec requires the reset register width to be 8, so we
now hardcode it and ignore the FADT value. This provides/maintains
compatibility with other ACPI implementations that have allowed

In the common case, the ACPI_ALLOCATE and related macros now resolve
directly to their respective acpi_os* OSL interfaces. Two options:
1) The ACPI_ALLOCATE_ZEROED macro defaults to a simple local implementation
   by default, unless overridden by the USE_NATIVE_ALLOCATE_ZEROED define.
2) For ACPI execution simulation environment (AcpiExec) which is not
   shipped with the Linux kernel, the macros can optionally be resolved to
   the local interfaces that track each allocation (used to immediately
   detect memory leaks).

Bob Moore 73424473d0 ACPICA: Add safe versions of common string functions.
This change adds and deploys "safe" versions of strcpy and strcat that
ensure that the target buffer does not overflow. These safe functions
are only helpful for processing user input and command lines. For most
ACPICA code however, the required buffer length is precisely calculated
before buffer allocation, so the use of these functions is unnecessary.
ACPICA BZ 1043.

This change only applies to the ACPICA utilities and the debugger, none
of which are not shipped with the kernel yet, so the kernel's behavior
remains unchanged after it.

Bob Moore 1d98e9e0bb ACPICA: Add history/line-editing for Unix/Linux systems.
The original upstream ACPICA change added full history and limited
line editing to the debugger:

 This change adds full history and limited line editing for Unix and
 Linux systems. It does not use readline() because of portability issues.
 Instead it uses the POSIX termio interface to put the terminal in raw
 input mode so that the various special keys can be trapped (such as
 up-arrow and down-arrow for history support).

Since the debugger is not shipped in the kernel, it only is necessary
to update one header file to keep the kernel source in sync with the
upstream.

Bob Moore 48961ce627 ACPICA: Add a check for a null node during namespace walk.
Mostly for consistency. ACPICA BZ 1042.

Actually, currently no one is experiencing problem without this check
as the obj_handle is guaranteed to be valid.

Bob Moore d7da179423 ACPICA: Table print header function: Increase default width for table length.
This change increases the default width for the length of tables from
5 to 6, to improve alignment/readability on systems with large tables.
These are being seen more frequently, especially large DSDTs (greater
than 1 MB).

Tomasz Nowicki 1b673f23d9 ACPICA: Ensure that debug output is immediately disabled on termination.
Set the global debug flag to "no output" when the debugger is shutdown.

Since the debugger is not shipped in the Linux kernel upstream, this
change doesn't affect Linux kernel's behavior.
