Liam Howlett 120b116208 maple_tree: reorganize testing to restore module testing
Along the development cycle, the testing code support for module/in-kernel
compiles was removed. Restore this functionality by moving any internal
API tests to the userspace side, as well as threading tests. Fix the
lockdep issues and add a way to reduce memory usage so the tests can
complete with KASAN + memleak detection. Make the tests work on 32 bit
hosts where possible and detect 32 bit hosts in the radix test suite.

Liam R. Howlett e15e06a839 lib/test_maple_tree: add testing for maple tree
This is a test suite that uses the radix test infrastructure. It has been
split into its own commit to allow for easier review of the maple tree
code.

The testing includes:
- Allocation of nodes
- gfp flag allocation checks
- Expansion & contraction of tree
- preallocation checks
- tree navigation by next/prev
- tree navigation by iterators (mas_for_each, etc)
- Number of nodes for a given number of entries
- Generic tree construction tests
- Addition and removal of entries in forward and reverse numerical indexes
- gap searching both forward and reverse
- Combining gaps by overwriting entries in different ways
- splitting right-most node
- splitting left-most node
- overwriting multiple slots
- overwriting across different levels of the tree
- overwriting the middle of a tree
- causing a 3-way split up to the root by overwriting the last slot and
  first slot of different nodes and spanning different levels
- RCU stress testing of the tree with threads
- Duplication of the tree by entry count
- Tests which were generated by fuzzers have been added.
- A large number of tests which come from recording crashing in a VM and
  reconstructing the tree (see check_erase2_set())

Matthew Wilcox (Oracle) 7e934cf5ac xarray: Fix early termination of xas_for_each_marked
xas_for_each_marked() is using entry == NULL as a termination condition
of the iteration. When xas_for_each_marked() is used protected only by
RCU, this can however race with xas_store(xas, NULL) in the following
way:

TASK1                                   TASK2
page_cache_delete()         	        find_get_pages_range_tag()
                                          xas_for_each_marked()
                                            xas_find_marked()
                                              off = xas_find_chunk()

  xas_store(&xas, NULL)
    xas_init_marks(&xas);
    ...
    rcu_assign_pointer(*slot, NULL);
                                              entry = xa_entry(off);

And thus xas_for_each_marked() terminates prematurely possibly leading
to missed entries in the iteration (translating to missing writeback of
some pages or a similar problem).

If we find a NULL entry that has been marked, skip it (unless we're trying
to allocate an entry).

Matthew Wilcox eff3860bbf radix tree: Don't return retry entries from lookup
Commit 66ee620f06 ("idr: Permit any valid kernel pointer to be stored")
changed the radix tree lookup so that it stops when reaching the bottom
of the tree. However, the condition was added in the wrong place,
making it possible to return retry entries to the caller. Reorder the
tests to check for the retry entry before checking whether we're at the
bottom of the tree. The retry entry should never be found in the tree
root, so it's safe to defer the check until the end of the loop.

Add a regression test to the test-suite to be sure this doesn't come
back.

Matthew Wilcox 58d6ea3085 xarray: Add XArray unconditional store operations
xa_store() differs from radix_tree_insert() in that it will overwrite an
existing element in the array rather than returning an error. This is
the behaviour which most users want, and those that want more complex
behaviour generally want to use the xas family of routines anyway.

For memory allocation, xa_store() will first attempt to request memory
from the slab allocator; if memory is not immediately available, it will
drop the xa_lock and allocate memory, keeping a pointer in the xa_state.
It does not use the per-CPU cache, although those will continue to exist
until all radix tree users are converted to the xarray.

This patch also includes xa_erase() and __xa_erase() for a streamlined
way to store NULL. Since there is no need to allocate memory in order
to store a NULL in the XArray, we do not need to trouble the user with
deciding what memory allocation flags to use.

Matthew Wilcox ad3d6c7263 xarray: Add XArray load operation
The xa_load function brings with it a lot of infrastructure; xa_empty(),
xa_is_err(), and large chunks of the XArray advanced API that are used
to implement xa_load.

As the test-suite demonstrates, it is possible to use the XArray functions
on a radix tree. The radix tree functions depend on the GFP flags being
stored in the root of the tree, so it's not possible to use the radix
tree functions on an XArray.

Ross Zwisler 8d9fa88edd radix tree test suite: fix mapshift build target
Commit c6ce3e2fe3 ("radix tree test suite: Add config option for map
shift") introduced a phony makefile target called 'mapshift' that ends
up generating the file generated/map-shift.h. This phony target was
then added as a dependency of the top level 'targets' build target,
which is what is run when you go to tools/testing/radix-tree and just
type 'make'.

Unfortunately, this phony target doesn't actually work as a dependency,
so you end up getting:

  $ make
  make: *** No rule to make target 'generated/map-shift.h', needed by 'main.o'. Stop.
  make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....

Fix this by making the file generated/map-shift.h our real makefile
target, and add this a dependency of the top level build target.

Greg Kroah-Hartman b24413180f License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
 - file had no licensing information it it.
 - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
 - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
 - Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
 - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
   lines of source
 - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
   lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

 - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
   considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
   COPYING file license applied.

   For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

   SPDX license identifier                            # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0                                              11139

   and resulted in the first patch in this series.

   If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
   Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:

   SPDX license identifier                            # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note                        930

   and resulted in the second patch in this series.

 - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
   of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
   any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
   it (per prior point). Results summary:

   SPDX license identifier                            # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note                       270
   GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note                      169
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause)    21
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause)    17
   LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note                      15
   GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note                       14
   ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause)    5
   LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note                       4
   LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note                        3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT)              3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT)             1

   and that resulted in the third patch in this series.

 - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
   the concluded license(s).

 - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
   license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
   licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

 - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
   resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
   which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

 - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
   confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

 - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
   the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
   in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
 - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
   license ids and scores
 - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
   files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
 - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
   was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
   SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

Michael Ellerman 284d96a494 radix tree test suite: Fix build with --as-needed
Currently the radix tree test suite doesn't build with toolchains that
use --as-needed by default, for example Ubuntu's:

  cc -I. -I../../include -g -O2 -Wall -D_LGPL_SOURCE -fsanitize=address -lpthread -lurcu main.o ... -o main
  /usr/bin/ld: regression1.o: undefined reference to symbol 'pthread_join@@GLIBC_2.17'
  /lib/powerpc64le-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0: error adding symbols: DSO missing from command line
  collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

This is caused by the custom makefile rules placing LDFLAGS before the
.o files that need the libraries.

We could fix it by using --no-as-needed, or rewriting the custom rules.
But we can also just drop the custom rules and move the libraries to
LDLIBS, and then the default rules work correctly - with the one caveat
that we need to add -fsanitize=address to LDFLAGS because that must be
passed to the linker as well as the compiler.

The IDR is very similar to the radix tree. It has some functionality that
the radix tree did not have (alloc next free, cyclic allocation, a
callback-based for_each, destroy tree), which is readily implementable on
top of the radix tree. A few small changes were needed in order to use a
tag to represent nodes with free space below them. More extensive
changes were needed to support storing NULL as a valid entry in an IDR.
Plain radix trees still interpret NULL as a not-present entry.

The IDA is reimplemented as a client of the newly enhanced radix tree. As
in the current implementation, it uses a bitmap at the last level of the
tree.

The radix tree uses its own buggy WARN_ON_ONCE. Replace it with the
definition from asm-generic/bug.h

Ross Zwisler eec4852543 radix-tree tests: add iteration test
There are four cases I can see where we could end up with a NULL 'slot' in
radix_tree_next_slot(). This unit test exercises all four of them, making
sure that if in the future we have an unsafe path through
radix_tree_next_slot(), we'll catch it.

Here are details on the four cases:

1) radix_tree_iter_retry() via a non-tagged iteration like
radix_tree_for_each_slot(). In this case we currently aren't seeing a bug
because radix_tree_iter_retry() sets

    iter->next_index = iter->index;

which means that in in the else case in radix_tree_next_slot(), 'count' is
zero, so we skip over the while() loop and effectively just return NULL
without ever dereferencing 'slot'.

2) radix_tree_iter_retry() via tagged iteration like
radix_tree_for_each_tagged(). This case was giving us NULL pointer
dereferences in testing, and was fixed with this commit:

commit 3cb9185c67 ("radix-tree: fix radix_tree_iter_retry() for tagged
iterators.")

This fix doesn't explicitly check for 'slot' being NULL, though, it works
around the NULL pointer dereference by instead zeroing iter->tags in
radix_tree_iter_retry(), which makes us bail out of the if() case in
radix_tree_next_slot() before we dereference 'slot'.

3) radix_tree_iter_next() via via a non-tagged iteration like
radix_tree_for_each_slot(). This currently happens in shmem_tag_pins()
and shmem_partial_swap_usage().

As with non-tagged iteration, 'count' in the else case of
radix_tree_next_slot() is zero, so we skip over the while() loop and
effectively just return NULL without ever dereferencing 'slot'.

4) radix_tree_iter_next() via tagged iteration like
radix_tree_for_each_tagged().  This happens in shmem_wait_for_pins().

radix_tree_iter_next() zeros out iter->tags, so we end up exiting
radix_tree_next_slot() here:

    if (flags & RADIX_TREE_ITER_TAGGED) {
	    void *canon = slot;

	    iter->tags >>= 1;
	    if (unlikely(!iter->tags))
		    return NULL;

Matthew Wilcox 62fd5258eb radix tree test suite: Test radix_tree_replace_slot() for multiorder entries
When we replace a multiorder entry, check that all indices reflect the
new value.

Also, compile the test suite with -O2, which shows other problems with
the code due to some dodgy pointer operations in the radix tree code.

Matthew Wilcox 4f3755d1ae radix tree test suite: start adding multiorder tests
Test suite infrastructure for working with multiorder entries.

The test itself is pretty basic: Add an entry, check that all expected
indices return that entry and that indices around that entry don't
return an entry. Then delete the entry and check no index returns that
entry. Tests a few edge conditions including the multiorder entry at
index 0 and at a higher index. Also tests deleting through an alias as
well as through the canonical index.

Ross Zwisler 7f308671c7 radix tree test suite: rebuild when headers change
When we make changes to radix-tree.h in the regular kernel source
(include/linux/radix-tree.h), we really want our test code to be
rebuilt.

We also include a few other headers from tools/include and probably want
to rebuild if these have been changed.

Update the makefile so that all of our objects will be rebuilt when any
of the headers we depend on are changed.

Konstantin Khlebnikov 2d6f45b802 radix-tree tests: add regression3 test
After calling radix_tree_iter_retry(), 'slot' will be set to NULL. This
can cause radix_tree_next_slot() to dereference the NULL pointer. Add
Konstantin Khlebnikov's test to the regression framework.

Matthew Wilcox 1366c37ed8 radix tree test harness
This code is mostly from Andrew Morton and Nick Piggin; tarball downloaded
from http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/rtth.tar.gz with sha1sum
0ce679db9ec047296b5d1ff7a1dfaa03a7bef1bd

Some small modifications were necessary to the test harness to fix the
build with the current Linux source code.

I also made minor modifications to automatically test the radix-tree.c
and radix-tree.h files that are in the current source tree, as opposed
to a copied and slightly modified version. I am sure more could be done
to tidy up the harness, as well as adding more tests.
