Sylwester Nawrocki 7f84ad8bdb [media] V4L: Add camera ISO sensitivity controls
Add ISO sensitivity and ISO auto/manual controls. The sensitivity
values are related to level of amplification of the analog signal
between image sensor and ADC. These controls allow to support sensors
exposing an interface to accept the ISO values directly.

Sylwester Nawrocki d58083c949 [media] V4L: Add camera exposure bias control
The camera may in some conditions incorrectly determine the exposure,

Sakari Ailus 6016af82ea [media] v4l2: use __u32 rather than enums in ioctl() structs
V4L2 uses the enum type in IOCTL arguments in IOCTLs that were defined until
the use of enum was considered less than ideal. Recently Rémi Denis-Courmont
brought up the issue by proposing a patch to convert the enums to unsigned:

<URL:http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-media/msg46167.html>

This sparked a long discussion where another solution to the issue was
proposed: two sets of IOCTL structures, one with __u32 and the other with
enums, and conversion code between the two:

<URL:http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-media/msg47168.html>

Both approaches implement a complete solution that resolves the problem. The
first one is simple but requires assuming enums and __u32 are the same in
size (so we won't break the ABI) while the second one is more complex and
less clean but does not require making that assumption.

The issue boils down to whether enums are fundamentally different from __u32
or not, and can the former be substituted by the latter. During the
discussion it was concluded that the __u32 has the same size as enums on all
archs Linux is supported: it has not been shown that replacing those enums
in IOCTL arguments would break neither source or binary compatibility. If no
such reason is found, just replacing the enums with __u32s is the way to go.

This is what this patch does. This patch is slightly different from Remi's
first RFC (link above): it uses __u32 instead of unsigned and also changes
the arguments of VIDIOC_G_PRIORITY and VIDIOC_S_PRIORITY.

Jason Wessel bec4d62ead kgdb,debug_core: add the ability to control the reboot notifier
Sometimes it is desirable to stop the kernel debugger before allowing
a system to reboot either with kdb or kgdb. This patch adds the
ability to turn the reboot notifier on and off or enter the debugger
and stop kernel execution before rebooting.

It is possible to change the setting after booting the kernel with the
following:

echo 1 > /sys/module/debug_core/parameters/kgdbreboot

It is also possible to change this setting using kdb / kgdb to
manipulate the variable directly.

Using KDB:
   mm kgdbreboot 1

Using gdb:
   set kgdbreboot=1

Johannes Berg 95de817b90 cfg80211: stop tracking authenticated state
To track authenticated state seems to have been
a design mistake in cfg80211. It is possible to
have out of band authentication (FT), tracking
multiple authentications caused more problems
than it ever helped, and the implementation in
mac80211 is too complex.

Remove all this complexity, and let userspace
do whatever it wants to, mac80211 can deal with
that just fine. Association is still tracked of
course, but authentication no longer is. Local
auth state changes are thus no longer of value,
so ignore them completely.

This will also help implement SAE -- asking the
driver to do an authentication is now almost
equivalent to sending an authentication frame,
with the exception of shared key authentication
which is still handled completely.

Hans Verkuil 583aa3a9b5 [media] V4L2: Add per-device-node capabilities
If V4L2_CAP_DEVICE_CAPS is set, then the new device_caps field is filled with
the capabilities of the opened device node.

The capabilities field traditionally contains the capabilities of the physical
device, being a superset of all capabilities available at the several device
nodes. E.g., if you open /dev/video0, then if it contains VBI caps then that means
that there is a corresponding vbi node as well. And the capabilities field of
both the video and vbi nodes should contain identical caps.

However, it would be very useful to also have a capabilities field that contains
just the caps for the currently open device, hence the new CAP bit and field.

Christine Chan b84d435cc2 debugobjects: Extend to assert that an object is initialized
Calling del_timer_sync() on an uninitialized timer leads to a
never ending loop in lock_timer_base() that spins checking for a
non-NULL timer base. Add an assertion to debugobjects to catch
usage of uninitialized objects so that we can initialize timers
in the del_timer_sync() path before it calls lock_timer_base().

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 39ce61a846 [media] dvb: Allow select between DVB-C Annex A and Annex C
DVB-C, as defined by ITU-T J.83 has 3 annexes. The differences between
Annex A and Annex C is that Annex C uses a subset of the modulation
types, and uses a different rolloff factor. A different rolloff means
that the bandwidth required is slicely different, and may affect the
saw filter configuration at the tuners. Also, some demods have different
configurations, depending on using Annex A or Annex C.

So, allow userspace to specify it, by changing the rolloff factor.

Sylwester Nawrocki d26a6635b2 [media] v4l: Add AUTO option for the V4L2_CID_POWER_LINE_FREQUENCY control
V4L2_CID_POWER_LINE_FREQUENCY control allows applications to instruct

can be used by the device to cancel flicker by compensating the light
intensity ripple. Currently in the menu we have entries for 50 Hz and

However some devices are capable of automatically detecting the
frequency, so add V4L2_CID_POWER_LINE_FREQUENCY_AUTO entry for them.

Kai Jiang 27a90700a4 uio: Support physical addresses >32 bits on 32-bit systems
To support >32-bit physical addresses for UIO_MEM_PHYS type we need to
extend the width of 'addr' in struct uio_mem. Numerous platforms like
embedded PPC, ARM, and X86 have support for systems with larger physical
address than logical.

Since 'addr' may contain a physical, logical, or virtual address the
easiest solution is to just change the type to 'phys_addr_t' which
should always be greater than or equal to the sizeof(void *) such that
it can properly hold any of the address types.

For physical address we can support up to a 44-bit physical address on a
typical 32-bit system as we utilize remap_pfn_range() for the mapping of
the memory region and pfn's are represnted by shifting the address by
the page size (typically 4k).

Hans Verkuil 74a4579086 [media] videodev2.h: add V4L2_CTRL_FLAG_VOLATILE
Add a new VOLATILE control flag that is set for volatile controls.
That way applications know whether the value of the control is volatile
(i.e. can change continuously) or not.

Until now this was an internal property, but it is useful to know in
userspace as well.

A typical use case is the gain value when autogain is on. In that case the
hardware will continuously adjust the gain based various environmental
factors.

This patch just adds and documents the flag, it's not yet used.

Clemens Ladisch dba8b46992 ALSA: mpu401: clean up interrupt specification
The semantics of snd_mpu401_uart_new()'s interrupt parameters are
somewhat counterintuitive: To prevent the function from allocating its
own interrupt, either the irq number must be invalid, or the irq_flags
parameter must be zero. At the same time, the irq parameter being
invalid specifies that the mpu401 code has to work without an interrupt
allocated by the caller. This implies that, if there is an interrupt
and it is allocated by the caller, the irq parameter must be set to
a valid-looking number which then isn't actually used.

With the removal of IRQF_DISABLED, zero becomes a valid irq_flags value,
which forces us to handle the parameters differently.

This patch introduces a new flag MPU401_INFO_IRQ_HOOK for when the
device interrupt is handled by the caller, and makes the allocation of
the interrupt to depend only on the irq parameter. As suggested by
Takashi, the irq_flags parameter was dropped because, when used, it had
the constant value IRQF_DISABLED.
