A fairly quiet release for the SPI subsystem, the standout changes
being:
- Core support for implementing bits per word constraints implemented by
Stephen Warren, factoring some code out of drivers.
- Addition of polling mode support for the s3c64xx driver as some newer
Exynos systems have taken the unusual step of removing interrupt
support.
- Use of the in-IP FIFO and generic dmaengine support for the OMAP2
driver, providing improved performance.
- Conversion of the mpc512x driver to use the core message queue
infrastructure.
The nicest thing being that all the factoring out into common code leads
to a negative diffstat overall.

A small but useful set of regmap updates this time around:
- An abstraction for bitfields within a register map contributed by
Srinivas Kandagatla, allowing drivers to cope more easily when
hardware designers randomly move things about (mainly when talking
to things like system controllers).
- Changes from Lars-Peter Clausen to allow the MMIO regmap to be used from
hard IRQ context.
- Small improvements to the cache infrastructure and performance,
including a default cache sync operation so now all regmaps can sync
easily.
There's also a pinctrl driver making use of the new bitfield API, merged
here for dependency reasons. There will be a simple add/add conflict
with the pinctrl tree as a result.

Pull ARM updates from Russell King:
"This contains the usual updates from other people (listed below) and
the usual random muddle of miscellaneous ARM updates which cover some
low priority bug fixes and performance improvements.
I've started to put the pull request wording into the merge commits,
which are:
- NoMMU stuff:
This includes the following series sent earlier to the list:
- nommu-fixes
- R7 Support
- MPU support
I've left out the ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM/!MMU stuff that Arnd and I
were discussing today until we've reached a conclusion/that's had
some more review.
This is rebased (and re-tested) on your devel-stable branch because
otherwise there were going to be conflicts with Uwe's V7M work now
that you've merged that. I've included the fix for limiting MPU to
CPU_V7.
- Huge page support
These changes bring both HugeTLB support and Transparent HugePage
(THP) support to ARM. Only long descriptors (LPAE) are supported
in this series.
The code has been tested on an Arndale board (Exynos 5250).
- LPAE updates
Please pull these miscellaneous LPAE fixes I've been collecting for
a while now for 3.11. They've been tested and reviewed by quite a
few people, and most of the patches are pretty trivial. -- Will Deacon.
- arch_timer cleanups
Please pull these arch_timer cleanups I've been holding onto for a
while. They're the same as my last posting, but have been rebased
to v3.10-rc3.
- mpidr linearisation (multiprocessor id register - identifies which
CPU number we are in the system)
This patch series that implements MPIDR linearization through a
simple hashing algorithm and updates current cpu_{suspend}/{resume}
code to use the newly created hash structures to retrieve context
pointers. It represents a stepping stone for the implementation of
power management code on forthcoming multi-cluster ARM systems.
It has been tested on TC2 (dual cluster A15xA7 system), iMX6q,
OMAP4 and Tegra, with processors hitting low-power states requiring
warm-boot resume through the cpu_resume code path"

This is a simple driver for the global timer module found in the Cortex
A9-MP cores from revision r1p0 onwards. This should be able to perform
the functions of the system timer and the local timer in an SMP system.
The global timer has the following features:
The global timer is a 64-bit incrementing counter with an
auto-incrementing feature. It continues incrementing after sending
interrupts. The global timer is memory mapped in the private memory
region.
The global timer is accessible to all Cortex-A9 processors in the
cluster. Each Cortex-A9 processor has a private 64-bit comparator that
is used to assert a private interrupt when the global timer has reached
the comparator value. All the Cortex-A9 processors in a design use the
banked ID, ID27, for this interrupt. ID27 is sent to the Interrupt
Controller as a Private Peripheral Interrupt. The global timer is
clocked by PERIPHCLK.

Pull workqueue changes from Tejun Heo:
"Surprisingly, Lai and I didn't break too many things implementing
custom pools and stuff last time around and there aren't any follow-up
changes necessary at this point.
The only change in this pull request is Viresh's patches to make some
per-cpu workqueues to behave as unbound workqueues dependent on a boot
param whose default can be configured via a config option. This leads
to higher processing overhead / lower bandwidth as more work items are
bounced across CPUs; however, it can lead to noticeable powersave in
certain configurations - ~10% w/ idlish constant workload on a
big.LITTLE configuration according to Viresh.
This is because per-cpu workqueues interfere with how the scheduler
perceives whether or not each CPU is idle by forcing pinned tasks on
them, which makes the scheduler's power-aware scheduling decisions
less effective.
Its effectiveness is likely less pronounced on homogenous
configurations and this type of optimization can probably be made
automatic; however, the changes are pretty minimal and the affected
workqueues are clearly marked, so it's an easy gain for some
configurations for the time being with pretty unintrusive changes."

Pull WW mutex support from Ingo Molnar:
"This tree adds support for wound/wait style locks, which the graphics
guys would like to make use of in the TTM graphics subsystem.
Wound/wait mutexes are used when other multiple lock acquisitions of a
similar type can be done in an arbitrary order. The deadlock handling
used here is called wait/wound in the RDBMS literature: The older
tasks waits until it can acquire the contended lock. The younger
tasks needs to back off and drop all the locks it is currently
holding, ie the younger task is wounded.
See this LWN.net description of W/W mutexes:

The comments there outline specific usecases for this facility (which
have already been implemented for the DRM tree).

These changes are all driver specific and cross over between arm-soc
contents and some other subsystem, in these cases cpufreq, crypto,
dma, pinctrl, mailbox and usb, and the subsystem owners agreed to
have these changes merged through arm-soc. As we proceed to untangle
the dependencies between platform code and driver code, the amount of
changes in this category is fortunately shrinking, for 3.11 we have
16 branches here and 101 non-merge changesets, the majority of which
are for the stedma40 dma engine driver used in the ux500 platform.
Cleaning up that code touches multiple subsystems, but gets rid
of the dependency in the end.
The mailbox code moved out from mach-omap2 to drivers/mailbox
is an intermediate step and is still omap specific at the moment.
Patches exist to generalize the subsystem and add other drivers
with the same API, but those did not make it for 3.11.

* In arch/arm/mach-omap2/devices.c, the includes got reshuffled.

These changes from 30 individual branches for the most part update device
tree files, but there are also a few source code changes that have crept
in this time, usually in order to atomically move over a driver from
using hardcoded data to DT probing.
A number of platforms change their DT files to use the C preprocessor,
which is causing a bit of churn, but that is hopefully only this once.
There are a few conflicts with the other branches unfortunately:
* in exynos5440.dtsi and kirkwood-6281.dtsi, device nodes are added
from multiple branches. Need to be careful to have the right
set of closing braces as git gets this one wrong.
* In kirkwood.dtsi, one 'ranges' line got split into two lines, while
another line got added. Order of the lines does not matter.
* in sama5d3.dtsi, some cleanup was merged the wrong way, causing
a bogus conflict. We want the 'dmas' and 'dma-names' properties
to get added here.
* Two lines got removed independently in arch/arm/mach-mxs/mach-mxs.c
* Contents get added independently in arch/arm/mach-omap2/cclock33xx_data.c

These changes are all to SoC-specific code, a total of 33 branches on
17 platforms were pulled into this. Like last time, Renesas sh-mobile
is now the platform with the most changes, followed by OMAP and EXYNOS.
Two new platforms, TI Keystone and Rockchips RK3xxx are added in
this branch, both containing almost no platform specific code at all,
since they are using generic subsystem interfaces for clocks, pinctrl,
interrupts etc. The device drivers are getting merged through the
respective subsystem maintainer trees.
One more SoC (u300) is now multiplatform capable and several others
(shmobile, exynos, msm, integrator, kirkwood, clps711x) are moving
towards that goal with this series but need more work.
Also noteworthy is the work on PCI here, which is traditionally part of
the SoC specific code. With the changes done by Thomas Petazzoni, we can
now more easily have PCI host controller drivers as loadable modules and
keep them separate from the platform code in drivers/pci/host. This has
already led to the discovery that three platforms (exynos, spear and imx)
are actually using an identical PCIe host controller and will be able
to share a driver once support for spear and imx is added.
Conflicts:
* asm/glue-proc.h has one CPU type getting added that conflicts
with another addition in 3.10-rc7
* Simple context changes in arch/arm/Makefile and arch/arm/Kconfig

This contains cleanups as preparation for other branches adding new
features, we pulled 16 branches for 9 platforms into this one.
Most notable here is the removal of support for ATAGS based OMAP4
systems. Since all OMAP4 machines are fully functional with DT based
booting in 3.10, we can remove a lot of code here.
Also noteworthy is Maxime Ripard's cleanup of the machine descriptors,
which means we need no machine descriptors in a lot more cases and
can boot additional machines by just having the respective device
drivers enabled.

submitted much more efficiently as a single bio request, instead of
being sent as individual 4k writes into the block layer (which then
relied on the elevator code to coalesce the requests in the block
queue). Secondly, the extent cache shrink mechanism, which was
introduce in 3.9, no longer has a scalability bottleneck caused by the
i_es_lru spinlock. Other optimizations include some changes to reduce
CPU usage and to avoid issuing empty commits unnecessarily.

In order to avoid making code that deals with printing both, IPv4 and
IPv6 addresses, unnecessary complicated as for example ...
if (sa.sa_family == AF_INET6)
printk("... %pI6 ...", ..sin6_addr);
else
printk("... %pI4 ...", ..sin_addr.s_addr);
... it would be better to introduce a format specifier that can deal
with those kind of situations internally; just as we have a "struct
sockaddr" for generic mapping into "struct sockaddr_in" or "struct
sockaddr_in6" as e.g. done in "union sctp_addr". Then, we could
reduce the above statement into something like:
printk("... %pIS ..", &sockaddr);
In case our pointer is NULL, pointer() then deals with that already at
an earlier point in time internally. While we're at it, support for both
%piS/%pIS, where 'S' stands for sockaddr, comes (almost) for free.
Additionally to that, postfix specifiers 'p', 'f' and 's' are supported
as suggested and initially implemented in 2009 by Joe Perches [1].
Handling of those additional specifiers orientate on the initial RFC that
was proposed. Also we support IPv6 compressed format specified by 'c' and
various other IPv4 extensions as stated in the documentation part.
Likely, there are many other areas than just SCTP in the kernel to make
use of this extension as well.

The OLPC XO-1.75 and XO-4 laptops include a PS/2 touchpad and an AT
keyboard, yet they do not have a hardware PS/2 controller. Instead, a
firmware runs on a dedicated core ("Security Processor", part of the SoC)
that acts as a PS/2 controller through bit-banging.
Communication between the main cpu (Application Processor) and the
Security Processor happens via a standard command mechanism implemented
by the SoC. Add a driver for this interface to enable keyboard/mouse

included documentation for more details.
EBBs are a feature which allows the hardware to branch directly to a
specified user space address when a PMU event overflows. This can be
used by programs for self-monitoring with no kernel involvement in the
inner loop.
Most of the logic is in the generic book3s code, primarily to avoid a

There's no reason we have to protect the blocked_hash and file_lock_list
with the same spinlock. With the tests I have, breaking it in two gives
a barely measurable performance benefit, but it seems reasonable to make
this locking as granular as possible.

Currently, the hashing that the locking code uses to add these values
to the blocked_hash is simply calculated using fl_owner field. That's
valid in most cases except for server-side lockd, which validates the
owner of a lock based on fl_owner and fl_pid.
In the case where you have a small number of NFS clients doing a lot
of locking between different processes, you could end up with all
the blocked requests sitting in a very small number of hash buckets.
Add a new lm_owner_key operation to the lock_manager_operations that
will generate an unsigned long to use as the key in the hashtable.
That function is only implemented for server-side lockd, and simply
XORs the fl_owner and fl_pid.

Having a global lock that protects all of this code is a clear
scalability problem. Instead of doing that, move most of the code to be
protected by the i_lock instead. The exceptions are the global lists
that the ->fl_link sits on, and the ->fl_block list.
->fl_link is what connects these structures to the
global lists, so we must ensure that we hold those locks when iterating
over or updating these lists.
Furthermore, sound deadlock detection requires that we hold the
blocked_list state steady while checking for loops. We also must ensure
that the search and update to the list are atomic.
For the checking and insertion side of the blocked_list, push the
acquisition of the global lock into __posix_lock_file and ensure that
checking and update of the blocked_list is done without dropping the
lock in between.
On the removal side, when waking up blocked lock waiters, take the
global lock before walking the blocked list and dequeue the waiters from
the global list prior to removal from the fl_block list.
With this, deadlock detection should be race free while we minimize
excessive file_lock_lock thrashing.
Finally, in order to avoid a lock inversion problem when handling
/proc/locks output we must ensure that manipulations of the fl_block
list are also protected by the file_lock_lock.

only want it to find the superblock (which can be had as dentry->d_sb).
A few cases that want more are actually safe with dentry->d_inode -

Add compatible property for the Exynos5250 and enable the frame start

This patch adds support for the Exynos5250 SoC variant of the FIMC-LITE

and the capture DMA handling is reworked to use the FLITE_REG_CIFCNTSEQ
register, masking output DMA buffer address slots. The frame interrupt
is enabled so there are now 2 interrupts per frame. This likely can be
optimized in future by using any status registers that allow to figure

also be more reliable in cases where there are high interrupt service

ASoC: More updates for v3.11
Some more fixes and enhancements, and also a bunch of refectoring for
AC'97 support which enables more than one AC'97 controller driver to be
built in.
Several drivers need font support independent of CONFIG_VT, cfr. commit
9cbce8d7e1dae0744ca4f68d62aa7de18196b6f4, "console/font: Refactor font
support code selection logic").
Hence move the fonts and their support logic from drivers/video/console/ to
its own library directory lib/fonts/.
This also allows to limit processing of drivers/video/console/Makefile to
CONFIG_VT=y again.

This adds support for a generic reservations framework that can be
hooked up to ttm and dma-buf and allows easy sharing of reservations
across devices.
The idea is that a dma-buf and ttm object both will get a pointer
to a struct reservation_object, which has to be reserved before
anything is done with the contents of the dma-buf.
Changes since v1:
- Fix locking issue in ticket_reserve, which could cause mutex_unlock
to be called too many times.
Changes since v2:
- All fence related calls and members have been taken out for now,
what's left is the bare minimum to be useful for ttm locking conversion.
Changes since v3:
- Removed helper functions too. The documentation has an example
implementation for locking. With the move to ww_mutex there is no
need to have much logic any more.

Commits fcf8058 (cpufreq: Simplify cpufreq_add_dev()) and aa77a52
(cpufreq: acpi-cpufreq: Don't set policy->related_cpus from .init())
changed the contents of the "related_cpus" sysfs attribute on systems
where acpi-cpufreq is used and user space can't get the list of CPUs
which are in the same hardware coordination CPU domain (provided by
the ACPI AML method _PSD) via "related_cpus" any more.
To make up for that loss add a new sysfs attribute "freqdomian_cpus"
for the acpi-cpufreq driver which exposes the list of CPUs in the
same domain regardless of whether it is coordinated by hardware or
software.

Pull networking fixes from David Miller:
1) Found via trinity:
If you connect up an ipv6 socket to an ipv4 mapped address then an
ipv6 one, sendmsg() can croak because ip6_sk_dst_check() assumes the
route cached in the socket is an ipv6 one. In this case there is an
ipv4 route attached, so it gets stomped on.
Reported by Dave Jones and Hannes Frederic Sowa, fixed by Eric
Dumazet.
2) AF_KEY notifications leak some kernel memory to userspace, fix from
Mathias Krause.
3) DLCI calls __dev_get_by_name() without proper locking, and dlci_del
doesn't validate that the device being deleted is actually a DLCI
one. Fixes from Li Zefan.
4) Length check on bluetooth l2cap information responses is wrong, each
response type has a different lenth, so we should make sure it's in
a given range rather than enforce one single valid length. From
Jaganath Kanakkassery.
5) Receive FIFO overflow is really easy to trigger in stress scenerios
in the sh_eth driver, but the event isn't being handled properly at
all. Specifically, the mask of error interrupts doesn't include the
event so we never clear it, resulting in the driver becomming wedged
processing an interrupt that never gets cleared.
Fix from Sergei Shtylyov.
6) qlcnic sleeps while holding a spinlock, use mdelay() instead of
msleep(). From Shahed Shaikh.
7) Missing curly braces causes SIP netfilter NAT module to always drop
packets. Fix from Balazs Peter Odor.
8) ipt_ULOG in netfilter passes the wrong value to timer setup, causing
the timer to dereference crap when it fires. Fix from Gao Feng.
9) Missing RCU protection around txq->axq_acq traversal in
ath_txq_schedule(). Fix from Felix Fietkau.
10) Idle state transition test in ath9k_htc_config() is reversed, fix
from Sujith Manoharan.
11) IPV6 forwarding handles unicast Router Alert packets incorrectly.
It tests the wrong option state. Previously opt->ra being non-zero
indicated a router alert marking in the SKB, but now it's indicated
by a bit in opt->flags. Fix from YOSHIFUJI Hideaki.
12) SKB leak in GRE tunnel GSO handling, from Eric Dumazet.
13) get_user_pages_fast() error handling in TUN and MACVTAP use the same
local variable for the base index and the loop iterator for page
traversal, oops! Fix from Michael S Tsirkin.
14) ipv6_get_lladdr() can fail, and we must therefore check it's return
value in inet6_set_iftoken(). For from Hannes Frederic Sowa.
15) If you change an interface name and meanwhile can sneak in something
that looks up the name (like SO_BINDTODEVICE or SIOCGIFNAME) we can
deadlock with CONFIG_PREEMPT=n. Fix this by providing a helper
function that properly uses raw_seqcount_begin(). From Nicolas
Schichan.
16) Chain noise calibration test is inverted in iwlwifi, fix from
Nikolay Martynov.
17) Properly set TX iwlwifi descriptor flags for back requests. Fix
from Emmanuel Grumbach.
18) We can't assume skb_transport_header() is set in xt_TCPOPTSTRAP
module, fix from Pablo Neira Ayuso.
19) Some crummy APs don't provide the proper High Throughput info in
association response frames. Add a workaround by assume we'll use
whatever is in the beacon/probe. Fix from Johannes Berg.
20) mac80211 call to rate_idx_match_mask() swaps two arguments (mask and
channel width). Fix from Simon Wunderlich.
21) xt_TCPMSS (like xt_TCPOPTSTRAP) must not try to handle fragmented
frames. Fix from Phil Oester.
22) Fix rate control regression causing iwlwifi/iwlegacy chips to use
1Mbit/s on pre-11n networks. From Moshe Benji and Stanslaw Gruszka.
23) Disable brcmsmac power-save functions, they cause regressions. From
Arend van Spriel.
24) Enforce a sane minimum MTU in l2cap_build_cmd() otherwise we can
easily crash. Fix from Anderson Lizardo.
25) If a learning packet arrives during vxlan_stop() we crash, easily
fixed by checking netif_running(). From Stephen Hemminger.
26) Static vxlan FDB entries should not be migrated, also from Stephen.
27) skb_clone() failures not handled in vxlan_xmit(), oops. Also from
Stephen.
28) Add minimal driver for AR816x/AR817x ethernet chips, from Johannes
Berg.
29) Fix regression in userspace VLAN acceleration control, added by the
802.1ad support changes. Fix from Fernando Luis Vazquez Cao.
30) Interval selection for MLD queries in the bridging code was
reversed. Fix from Linus Lüssing.
31) ipv6's ndisc_send_redirect() erroneously writes to the packet we
received not the packet we are building to send out. Fix from
Matthias Schiffer.
32) Don't free netdev before unregistering it, in usb_8dev can driver.
From Marc Kleine-Budde.
33) Fix nl80211 attribute buffer races, from Johannes Berg.

Aydin Arik.
36) phy_type attribute created by SFC driver should not be writable.
From Ben Hutchings.
37) Receive/Transmit queue allocations in pxa168_eth and mv643xx_eth
should use kzalloc(). Otherwise if setup fails half-way, we'll
dereference garbage when trying to teardown the rings. From Lubomir
Rintel.
38) Fix double-allocation of dst (resulting in unfreeable net device) in
ipv6's init_loopback(). From Gao Feng.
39) Fix fragmentation handling SKB leak in netfilter conntrack, we were
freeing the wrong skb pointer. From Phil Oester.
40) Don't report "-1" (SPEED_UNKNOWN) in bond_miimon_commit(), from
Nikolay Aleksandrov.
41) davinci_cpdma doesn't check for DMA mapping errors, letting the

Wound/wait mutexes are used when other multiple lock
acquisitions of a similar type can be done in an arbitrary
order. The deadlock handling used here is called wait/wound in
the RDBMS literature: The older tasks waits until it can acquire
the contended lock. The younger tasks needs to back off and drop
all the locks it is currently holding, i.e. the younger task is
wounded.

MD: Remember the last sync operation that was performed
This patch adds a field to the mddev structure to track the last
sync operation that was performed. This is especially useful when
it comes to what is recorded in mismatch_cnt in sysfs. If the
last operation was "data-check", then it reports the number of
descrepancies found by the user-initiated check. If it was a
"repair" operation, then it is reporting the number of
descrepancies repaired. etc.

Currently, we fail only when all of the ips in arp_ip_target are gone.
However, in some situations we might need to fail if even one host from
arp_ip_target becomes unavailable.
All situations, obviously, rely on the idea that we need *completely*
functional network, with all interfaces/addresses working correctly.
One real world example might be:
vlans on top on bond (hybrid port). If bond and vlans have ips assigned
and we have their peers monitored via arp_ip_target - in case of switch
misconfiguration (trunk/access port), slave driver malfunction or
tagged/untagged traffic dropped on the way - we will be able to switch
to another slave.
Though any other configuration needs that if we need to have access to all
arp_ip_targets.
This patch adds this possibility by adding a new parameter -
arp_all_targets (both as a module parameter and as a sysfs knob). It can be
set to:
0 or any (the default) - which works exactly as it's working now -
the slave is up if any of the arp_ip_targets are up.
1 or all - the slave is up if all of the arp_ip_targets are up.
This parameter can be changed on the fly (via sysfs), and requires the mode
to be active-backup and arp_validate to be enabled (it obeys the
arp_validate config on which slaves to validate).
Internally it's done through:
1) Add target_last_arp_rx[BOND_MAX_ARP_TARGETS] array to slave struct. It's
an array of jiffies, meaning that slave->target_last_arp_rx[i] is the
last time we've received arp from bond->params.arp_targets[i] on this
slave.
2) If we successfully validate an arp from bond->params.arp_targets[i] in
bond_validate_arp() - update the slave->target_last_arp_rx[i] with the
current jiffies value.
3) When getting slave's last_rx via slave_last_rx(), we return the oldest
time when we've received an arp from any address in
bond->params.arp_targets[].
If the value of arp_all_targets == 0 - we still work the same way as
before.
Also, update the documentation to reflect the new parameter.
v3->v4:
Kill the forgotten rtnl_unlock(), rephrase the documentation part to be
more clear, don't fail setting arp_all_targets if arp_validate is not set -
it has no effect anyway but can be easier to set up. Also, print a warning
if the last arp_ip_target is removed while the arp_interval is on, but not
the arp_validate.
v2->v3:
Use _bh spinlock, remove useless rtnl_lock() and use jiffies for new
arp_ip_target last arp, instead of slave_last_rx(). On bond_enslave(),
use the same initialization value for target_last_arp_rx[] as is used
for the default last_arp_rx, to avoid useless interface flaps.
Also, instead of failing to remove the last arp_ip_target just print a
warning - otherwise it might break existing scripts.
v1->v2:
Correctly handle adding/removing hosts in arp_ip_target - we need to
shift/initialize all slave's target_last_arp_rx. Also, don't fail module
loading on arp_all_targets misconfiguration, just disable it, and some
minor style fixes.

select/poll busy-poll support.
Split sysctl value into two separate ones, one for read and one for poll.
updated Documentation/sysctl/net.txt
Add a new poll flag POLL_LL. When this flag is set, sock_poll will call
sk_poll_ll if possible. sock_poll sets this flag in its return value
to indicate to select/poll when a socket that can busy poll is found.
When poll/select have nothing to report, call the low-level
sock_poll again until we are out of time or we find something.
Once the system call finds something, it stops setting POLL_LL, so it can
return the result to the user ASAP.

This patch-set adds basic support for STMicroelectronics STi series SOCs
which includes STiH415 and STiH416 with B2000 and B2020 board support.
STiH415 and STiH416 are dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU, designed for
use in Set-top-boxes. The SOC support is available in mach-sti which
contains support code for STiH415, STiH416 SOCs including the generic
board support.
The reason for adding two SOCs at this patch set is to show that no new
C code is required for second SOC(STiH416) support.

This patch add pinctrl support to ST SoCs.
About hardware:
ST Set-Top-Box parts have two blocks called PIO and PIO-mux which handle
pin configurations.
Each multi-function pin is controlled, driven and routed through the PIO
multiplexing block. Each pin supports GPIO functionality (ALT0) and
multiple alternate functions(ALT1 - ALTx) that directly connect the pin
to different hardware blocks. When a pin is in GPIO mode, Output Enable
(OE), Open Drain(OD), and Pull Up (PU) are driven by the related PIO
block. Otherwise the PIO multiplexing block configures these parameters
and retiming the signal.
About driver:
This pinctrl driver manages both PIO and PIO-mux block using pinctrl,
pinconf, pinmux, gpio subsystems. All the pinctrl related config
information can only come from device trees.

Some options currently take arguments in unspecified driver-specific units.
As pointed out by Stephen Warren, driver specific values should not be part
of generic devicetree bindings describing the hardware.

Currently the debounce time pinconfig option uses an unspecified
"time units" unit. As pinconfig options should use SI units and a
real unit is also necessary for generic dt bindings, change it
to usec. Currently no driver is using the generic pinconfig option
for this, so the unit change is safe to do.

From the inception ot the pin config API there has been the
possibility to get a handle at a pin directly and configure
its electrical characteristics. For this reason we had:
int pin_config_get(const char *dev_name, const char *name,
unsigned long *config);
int pin_config_set(const char *dev_name, const char *name,
unsigned long config);
int pin_config_group_get(const char *dev_name,
const char *pin_group,
unsigned long *config);
int pin_config_group_set(const char *dev_name,
const char *pin_group,
unsigned long config);
After the introduction of the pin control states that will
control pins associated with devices, and its subsequent
introduction to the device core, as well as the
introduction of pin control hogs that can set up states on
boot and optionally also at sleep, this direct pin control
API is a thing of the past.
As could be expected, it has zero in-kernel users.
Let's delete this API and make our world simpler.

The ADAU1701 has 2 hardware pins to configure the PLL mode in accordance
to the MCLK-to-LRCLK ratio. These pins have to be stable before the chip
is released from reset, and a full reset cycle, including a new firmware
download is needed whenever they change.
This patch adds GPIO properties to the DT bindings of the Codec, and
implements makes the set_sysclk memorize the configured sysclk.
Because the run-time parameters are unknown at probe time, the first
firmware download is postponed to the first hw_params call, when the
driver can determine the mclk/lrclk divider. Subsequent downloads
are only issued when the divider configuration changes.

The Interlaken is a narrow, high speed channelized chip-to-chip interface. To
facilitate interoperability between a data path device and a look-aside
co-processor, the Interlaken Look-Aside protocol is defined for short
transaction-related transfers. Although based on the Interlaken protocol,
Interlaken Look-Aside is not directly compatible with Interlaken and can be
considered a different operation mode.
The Interlaken LA controller connects internal platform to Interlaken serial
interface. It accepts LA command through software portals, which are system
memory mapped 4KB spaces. The LA commands are then translated into the
Interlaken control words and data words, which are sent on TX side to TCAM
through SerDes lanes.

When searching for symbols, return the symbols sorted by relevance.
Sorting is done as thus:
- first, symbols that match exactly
- then, alphabetical sort
Since the search can be a regexp, it is possible that more than one symbol
matches exactly. In this case, we can't decide which to sort first, so we
fallback to alphabeticall sort.
Explain this (new!) sorting heuristic in the documentation.

powerdown controller SOC_GPIO_CONTROL registers.
These pins have individually controlled pull-up, and group controlled
schmitt, slew-rate, drive-strength, and power-on-start (pos).
The pdc_gpio0 and pdc_gpio1 pins can also be muxed onto the
ir_mod_stable_out and ir_mod_power_out functions respectively. If no
function is set they remain in GPIO mode. These muxes can be overridden
