Florian Fainelli 10340f8d7b ata: ahci_brcm: Add back regulators management
While reworking the resources management and departing from using
ahci_platform_enable_resources() which did not allow a proper step
separation like we need, we unfortunately lost the ability to control
AHCI regulators. This broke some Broadcom STB systems that do expect
regulators to be turned on to link up with attached hard drives.

Florian Fainelli 1a0600d112 ata: ahci_brcm: Perform reset after obtaining resources
Resources such as clocks, PHYs, regulators are likely to get a probe
deferral return code, which could lead to the AHCI controller being
reset a few times until it gets successfully probed. Since this is
typically the most time consuming operation, move it after the resources
have been acquired.

Arnd Bergmann 6fedae3cad ata: brcm: fix reset controller API usage
While fixing another issue in this driver I noticed it uses
IS_ERR_OR_NULL(), which is almost always a mistake.

Change the driver to use the proper devm_reset_control_get_optional()
interface instead and remove the checks except for the one that
checks for a failure in that function.

Arnd Bergmann ed87ad196d ata: brcm: mark PM functions as __maybe_unused
The new shutdown callback causes a link failure:

Florian Fainelli c345ec6a50 ata: ahci_brcm: Support BCM7216 reset controller name
BCM7216 uses a different reset controller name which is "rescal" instead
of "ahci", match the compatible string to account for that minor
difference, the reset is otherwise identical to how other generations of
SATA controllers work.

Florian Fainelli bf0e5013bc ata: ahci_brcm: Add missing clock management during recovery
The downstream implementation of ahci_brcm.c did contain clock
management recovery, but until recently, did that outside of the
libahci_platform helpers and this was unintentionally stripped out while
forward porting the patch upstream.

Add the missing clock management during recovery and sleep for 10
milliseconds per the design team recommendations to ensure the SATA PHY
controller and AFE have been fully quiesced.

Florian Fainelli 1a3d78cb6e ata: ahci_brcm: BCM7425 AHCI requires AHCI_HFLAG_DELAY_ENGINE
Set AHCI_HFLAG_DELAY_ENGINE for the BCM7425 AHCI controller thus making
it conforming to the 'strict' AHCI implementation which this controller
is based on.

This solves long link establishment with specific hard drives (e.g.:
Seagate ST1000VM002-9ZL1 SC12) that would otherwise have to complete the
error recovery handling before finally establishing a succesful SATA
link at the desired speed.

We re-order the hpriv->flags assignment to also remove the NONCQ quirk
since we can set the flag directly.

Florian Fainelli c0cdf2ac4b ata: ahci_brcm: Fix AHCI resources management
The AHCI resources management within ahci_brcm.c is a little
convoluted, largely because it historically had a dedicated clock that
was managed within this file in the downstream tree. Once brough
upstream though, the clock was left to be managed by libahci_platform.c
which is entirely appropriate.

This patch series ensures that the AHCI resources are fetched and
enabled before any register access is done, thus avoiding bus errors on
platforms which clock gate the controller by default.

As a result we need to re-arrange the suspend() and resume() functions
in order to avoid accessing registers after the clocks have been turned
off respectively before the clocks have been turned on. Finally, we can
refactor brcm_ahci_get_portmask() in order to fetch the number of ports
from hpriv->mmio which is now accessible without jumping through hoops
like we used to do.

The commit pointed in the Fixes tag is both old and new enough not to
require major headaches for backporting of this patch.

Florian Fainelli eb73390ae2 ata: ahci_brcm: Recover from failures to identify devices
When powering up, the SATA controller may fail to mount the HDD. The SATA
controller will lock up, preventing it from negotiating to a lower speed or
transmitting data. Root cause is power supply noise creating resonance at 6 Ghz
and 3 GHz frequencies, which causes instability in the Clock-Data Recovery
(CDR) frontend module, resulting in false acquisition of the clock at SATA
6G/3G speeds.

The SATA controller may fail to mount the HDD and lock up, requiring a power
cycle. Broadcom chips suspected of being susceptible to this issue include
BCM7445, BCM7439, and BCM7366.

The Kernel implements an error recovery mechanism that resets the SATA PHY and
digital controller when the controller locks up. During this error recovery
process, typically there is less activity on the board and Broadcom STB chip,
so that the power supply is less noisy, thus allowing the SATA controller to
lock correctly.

Florian Fainelli 36fffd6a1f ata: ahci_brcm: Avoid clobbering SATA_TOP_CTRL_BUS_CTRL
We are doing a blind write to SATA_TOP_CTRL_BUS_CTRL to set the system
endian, but in doing so, we are also overwriting other bits, such as the
SATA_SCB_BURST_SIZE and SATA_FIFO_SIZE bits, which impact performance.
Do a read/modify/write so we keep the default values.

While we are at it, we also greatly simplify the logic and just leave
the NSP specific bit settings, instead of having a completely different
sequence.
