David S. Miller 24a72b77f3 wireless-drivers-next patches for 4.13
New features and bug fixes to quite a few different drivers, but
 nothing really special standing out.

What makes me happy that we have now more vendors actively
contributing to upstream drivers. In this pull request we have patches
from Broadcom, Intel, Qualcomm, Realtek and Redpine Signals, and I
still have patches from Marvell and Quantenna pending in patchwork. Now
that's something comparing to how things looked 11 years ago in Jeff
Garzik's "State of the Union: Wireless" email:

 https://lkml.org/lkml/2006/1/5/671

 Major changes:

 wil6210

 * add low level RF sector interface via nl80211 vendor commands

 * add module parameter ftm_mode to load separate firmware for factory
   testing

 * support devices with different PCIe bar size

 * add support for PCIe D3hot in system suspend

 * remove ioctl interface which should not be in a wireless driver

 ath10k

 * go back to using dma_alloc_coherent() for firmware scratch memory

 * add per chain RSSI reporting

Maya Erez fe9ee51e6a wil6210: add support for PCIe D3hot in system suspend
In order to preserve the connection in suspend/resume flow,
wil6210 host allows going to PCIe D3hot state in suspend,
instead of performing a full wil6210 device reset. This
requires the platform ability to initiate wakeup in case of
RX data. To check that, a new platform API is added.
In addition, add cfg80211 suspend/resume callbacks
implementation.

Johannes Berg 4df864c1d9 networking: make skb_put & friends return void pointers
It seems like a historic accident that these return unsigned char *,

Make these functions (skb_put, __skb_put and pskb_put) return void *

users overall.

A handful of stragglers were converted manually, notably a macro in
drivers/isdn/i4l/isdn_bsdcomp.c and, oddly enough, one of the many
instances in net/bluetooth/hci_sock.c. In the former file, I also
had to fix one whitespace problem spatch introduced.

Lior David 52a457020a wil6210: support 8KB RX buffers
The 11ad spec requires 11ad devices to be able to receive 8KB
packets over the air. Currently this is only possible by
loading the driver with mtu_max=7912 but this also forces
a smaller block ACK window size which reduces performance
for stations which transmit normal sized packets (<2KB).
Fix this problem as follows:
1. Add a module parameter rx_large_buf that when set,
will allocate 8KB RX buffers regardless of mtu_max
setting.
2. When receiving block ACK request agree to any window
size not above our maximum, regardless of the mtu_max setting.
This means if the other side transmits small packets (2KB)
it can still set up block ACK with a large window size,
and get better performance.

Dedy Lansky 628639b1c9 wil6210: use WMI_DISCONNECT_CMDID upon connect timeout
Upon connect timeout driver invokes _wil6210_disconnect() which iterates
over sta array and disconnects each connected sta. In practice, because
the connection is still ongoing and because cid is not yet allocated,
disconnect is not actually happening. This leaves FW in connecting
state while driver is in disconnected state.
To fix this, upon connect timeout, explicitly send WMI_DISCONNECT_CMDID
to FW to make sure it gets disconnected.

Dedy Lansky bcdd49b074 wil6210: store bss object and use cfg80211_connect_bss()
In a fast disconnect/connect sequence, cfg80211_connect_result() can
fail to find the bss object which the driver is connecting to. Detailed
sequence of events:
* Driver is connected in STA mode
* Disconnect request arrives from user space. Driver disconnects and
calls cfg80211_disconnected() which adds new event to the
  cfg80211_wq worker thread
* Connect request arrives from user space. cfg80211_connect() stores
  ssid/ssid_len and calls rdev_connect()
* __cfg80211_disconnected() runs in worker thread and zero
  wdev->ssid_len
* Connect succeeds. Driver calls cfg80211_connect_result() which fails
to find the bss because wdev->ssid_len is zero

To overcome this, upon connect request, store the bss object in the
driver and upon connect completion pass it to kernel using
cfg80211_connect_bss().

Maya Erez 18618a9fba wil6210: missing reinit_completion in HALP voting
After setting HALP ICR bit, we keep it set until HALP unvote.
Masking HALP ICR should protect the driver from hitting the HALP ICR
over and over again. However, in case there is another MISC ICR
we will read the HALP ICR and issue a completion. This can lead to
a case where HALP voting is completed immediately, as the completion
is already set.
Reinit the HALP completion before the actual vote will clear previous

Lior David 9953a782f9 wil6210: bus_request platform operation refinement
The driver uses the bus_request platform operation to
request resources from the platform for a specific bandwidth.
Currently the driver requests resources for the maximum
theoretical bandwidth, when interface is brought up.
Refine this process a bit: now the driver will request a
small amount of resources when interface is up, and will only
issue the maximum request when connected.
This mechanism will be improved further in the future to make
more refined requests based on actual bandwidth.

Lior David 4d4c4dc324 wil6210: missing reinit_completion in wmi_call
The code in wmi_call uses the wil->wmi_call completion
structure to wait for a reply.
In some scenarios, complete was called twice on the
completion structure. This happened mainly with a disconnect
event which can arrive both unsolicited and as a reply to
a disconnect request. In this case the completion structure
was left marked as "done" and the next wmi_call returned
immediately with a corrupted reply buffer. This caused
unexpected results including crashes.
Fix this by adding the missing call to reinit_completion.

By default, AP SME is handled by driver/FW.
In case disable_ap_sme is true, driver doesn't turn-on

With AP SME disabled, driver reports assoc request frame

Driver calls to netif_tx_stop_all_queues/netif_tx_wake_all_queues are

Avraham Stern 1d76250bd3 nl80211: support beacon report scanning
Beacon report radio measurement requires reporting observed BSSs
on the channels specified in the beacon request. If the measurement
mode is set to passive or active, it requires actually performing a
scan (passive or active, accordingly), and reporting the time that
the scan was started and the time each beacon/probe was received
(both in terms of TSF of the BSS of the requesting AP). If the
request mode is table, this information is optional.
In addition, the radio measurement request specifies the channel
dwell time for the measurement.

In order to use scan for beacon report when the mode is active or
passive, add a parameter to scan request that specifies the
channel dwell time, and add scan start time and beacon received time
to scan results information.

Supporting beacon report is required for Multi Band Operation (MBO).

Lior David eb57a5b387 wil6210: abort P2P search when stopping P2P device

Maya Erez eb26cff148 wil6210: fix race conditions between TX send and completion
There are 2 possible race conditions, both are solved by addition of
memory barrier:
1. wil_tx_complete reads the swhead to determine if the vring is
empty. In case the swhead was updated before the descriptor update
was performed in __wil_tx_vring/__wil_tx_vring_tso, the completion
loop will not end and as the DU bit may still be set from a previous
run, this skb can be handled as completed before it was sent, which
will lead to double free of the same SKB.
2. __wil_tx_vring/__wil_tx_vring_tso calculate the number of available
descriptors according to the swtail. In case the swtail is updated
before memset of ctx to zero is completed, we can handle this
descriptor while later on ctx is zeroed.

could start a new P2P listen/search before wmi_stop_discovery
completed. This caused a crash in the firmware.
2. In P2P listen, when listen timer expires and user space calls
cancel_remain_on_channel at the same time, code could send the
cfg80211_remain_on_channel_expired notification twice.

Added protections with wil->mutex to several places that call
wmi_stop_discovery.

Lior David 4332cac17b wil6210: P2P_DEVICE virtual interface support
Added support for the P2P_DEVICE virtual interface. This interface
is intended for P2P management operations such as discovery and
GO negotiation. Normally it is implemented by drivers to allow
a separate interface for P2P management with its own MAC address,
but for 11ad drivers it is needed to support P2P search, since it
cannot otherwise be separated from normal scan.

Since we only support a single interface/MAC address, we can't
easily separate between primary and P2P_DEVICE interfaces.
For example when a management packet arrives we can't tell for
which interface it is intended. To work around this, we store
a pointer to the interface where the last "radio operation" was
triggered such as scan or remain on channel, and we forward
management packets and scan results to this interface.

Lior David eabb03b4a3 wil6210: basic PBSS/PCP support
PBSS (Personal Basic Service Set) is a new BSS type for DMG
networks. It is similar to infrastructure BSS, having an AP-like
entity called PCP (PBSS Control Point), but it has few differences.
For example, stations inside a PBSS can communicate directly, and
the PCP role can be transferred between stations.

This change adds PBSS support, and has 2 main parts:
1. When starting an AP, add an option to start as a PCP instead.
This is implemented by a new PBSS flag which is passed as part of
the cfg80211_ap_settings structure.
2. When connecting to a BSS, add an option to connect to a PCP
instead of an AP. This is again implemented by a new PBSS flag,
added to the cfg80211_connect_params structure.

Lior David 74997a53d2 wil6210: add support for discovery mode during scan
Add support for discovery mode during scan. When discovery mode
is active, station transmits special beacons while scanning.
This can optimize the scan mainly when there is only one AP/PCP
around.
Discovery mode is implicitly used by firmware during P2P search.
Since there is currently no use case where user space has a
reason to directly control discovery mode, we expose it only
through a debugfs flag.
Also fix name confusion in the wmi_scan_type enumeration.
The type previously called WMI_LONG_SCAN is actually
WMI_ACTIVE_SCAN.

Maya Erez 361486b27c wil6210: remove BACK RX and TX workers
WMI synchronous handling has changed and WMI calls that provide
a buffer for the reply are completed in the WMI interrupt context.
This allows sending the RX and TX BACK commands from the WMI event
handler without the need for the worker thread.
This is a better approach as it can decrease the handshake time
in the connect flow and prevent race conditions in case of fast
disconnects. An example for such a race is handling of wil_back_rx_handle
during a disconnect event, as wil_back_rx_handle is not protected by
the wil mutex and a disconnect can be handled after sta->status is
verified as connected.

Maya Erez fe5c271e28 wil6210: protect synchronous wmi commands handling
In case there are multiple WMI commands with the same reply_id,
the following scenario can occur:
- Driver sends the first command to the device
- The reply didn’t get on time and there is timeout
- Reply_id, reply_buf and reply_size are set to 0
- Driver sends second wmi command with the same reply_id as the first
- Driver sets wil->reply_id
- Reply for the first wmi command arrives and handled by wmi_recv_cmd
- As its ID fits the reply_id but the reply_buf is not set yet it is
handled as a reply with event handler, and WARN_ON is printed

Maya Erez 0916d9f2b6 wil6210: handle multiple connect/disconnect events
In the current solution wil6210 configures the vring in a worker
and holds only one pending CID. This implementation may lead to
race conditions between connect and disconnect events of multiple
stations or fast connect/disconnect events of the same station.

In order to allow the removal of the connect worker and handling of
WMI_VRING_CFG_DONE_EVENTID in the connect event, the WMI replies
that provide the reply in a given buffer needs to be handled
immediately in the WMI event interrupt thread.
To prevent deadlocks, WMI replies that requires additional

wil_vring_fini_tx is called in disconnect in order to free the

wil_vring_fini_tx is disabling the vring_tx_data before napi_synchronize
is called in order to avoid the tx handling of this vring, while
wil_vring_free is called only after napi finished the current handling
of the tx completed packets.
Due to that, in case of disconnect, wil6210_netdev_poll_tx can be called

Lior David c100c883e7 wil6210: use extra IEs from probe response
In the start_ap/change_beacon API, when we set up probe response
offloading, we only use the IE list from the probe response
template and not the IE list from the proberesp_ies argument.
As a result, we miss important IEs and it causes problems with
some scenarios such as P2P.
With this change, we merge the list of IEs from the probe response
template and proberesp_ies and send the merged list to the FW
for offloading. It is still FW responsibility to filter out
irrelevant IEs when sending probe response, based on the actual
contents of the probe request.
Also in case association response termplate is not provided,
we will use the merged list of IEs from probe response in the

checks for RSN IE inside proberesp_ies, but normally it

Maya Erez 452133a717 wil6210: prevent external wmi commands during suspend flow
In __wmi_send we check if fw is ready at the beginning of the function.
While we wait for the completion of the previous command, system suspend
can be invoked and reset the HW, causing __wmi_send to read from HW
registers while it is not ready.
Taking the wmi_mutex in the reset flow when setting the FW ready bit
to zero will prevent the above race condition.

Eric Dumazet d64b5e85bf net: add netif_tx_napi_add()
netif_tx_napi_add() is a variant of netif_napi_add()

It should be used by drivers that use a napi structure
to exclusively poll TX.

We do not want to add this kind of napi in napi_hash[] in following
patches, adding generic busy polling to all NAPI drivers.

Vladimir Shulman 0553640d28 wil6210: allow to handle Rx on 2 cores
Allow network stack part of Rx processing to run on separate core,
relaxing CPU utilization on the core used for Rx NAPI.

If RXHASH feature is enabled, the driver sets rxhash of each skb to 1

mechanism according to rx_cpus bit mask which is configured at user level.
For processing skbs on different core from the core which processes
the interrupts, it is recommended not to enable core 0 in rx_cpus bit mask.

Vladimir Kondratiev 3d4bde1531 wil6210: TSO implementation
Driver report supported TSO (v4 & v6) and IP checksum offload
in addition to previously supported features. In data path
skbs are checked for non-zero gso_size, and when detected sent
to additional function for processing TSO SKBs. Since HW does not
fully support TSO, additional effort is required from the driver.
Driver partitions the data into mss sized descriptors which are
then DMAed to the HW.

Main excitement here is Peter Zijlstra's lockless rbtree optimization to
speed module address lookup. He found some abusers of the module lock

A little bit of parameter work here too; including Dan Streetman's breaking
up the big param mutex so writing a parameter can load another module (yeah,
really). Unfortunately that broke the usual suspects, !CONFIG_MODULES and
!CONFIG_SYSFS, so those fixes were appended too.

Luis R. Rodriguez 9c27847dda kernel/params: constify struct kernel_param_ops uses
Most code already uses consts for the struct kernel_param_ops,
sweep the kernel for the last offending stragglers. Other than
include/linux/moduleparam.h and kernel/params.c all other changes
were generated with the following Coccinelle SmPL patch. Merge
conflicts between trees can be handled with Coccinelle.

In the future git could get Coccinelle merge support to deal with
patch --> fail --> grammar --> Coccinelle --> new patch conflicts
automatically for us on patches where the grammar is available and
the patch is of high confidence. Consider this a feature request.

Johannes Berg 80279fb7ba cfg80211: properly send NL80211_ATTR_DISCONNECTED_BY_AP in disconnect
When we disconnect from the AP, drivers call cfg80211_disconnect().
This doesn't know whether the disconnection was initiated locally
or by the AP though, which can cause problems with the supplicant,
for example with WPS. This issue obviously doesn't show up with any
mac80211 based driver since mac80211 doesn't call this function.

Fix this by requiring drivers to indicate whether the disconnect is
locally generated or not. I've tried to update the drivers, but may
not have gotten the values correct, and some drivers may currently
not be able to report correct values. In case of doubt I left it at
false, which is the current behaviour.

For libertas, make adjustments as indicated by Dan Williams.

Vladimir Kondratiev dc16427bbe wil6210: Add pmc debug mechanism memory management
Pmc is a hardware debug mechanism which allows capturing phy data,
packets, and internally generated events and messages synchronized
and time stamped by the hardware. It requires memory buffers
allocated by the driver in order to be used by hardware dma to
upstream real time debug data to host memory.
Driver will handle memory allocation and release, and fetching
the data from the memory to application layer via debug file
system. The configuration of pmc is handled entirely by the
application layer.

David S. Miller 7b6249bba9 Lots of updates for net-next; along with the usual flurry
of small fixes, cleanups and internal features we have:
  * VHT support for TDLS and IBSS (conditional on drivers though)
  * first TX performance improvements (the biggest will come later)
  * many suspend/resume (race) fixes
  * name_assign_type support from Tom Gundersen

Vladimir Kondratiev 70812421fb wil6210: fall back to pseudo-DMS mcast for secure link and PBSS
Multicast is not yet properly supported for all connection types;
actually, only non-secure AP is supported. For all other cases,
fall back to old "pseudo-DMS" approach. Namely, for:
- PBSS
- secure connection

When re-routing MCAST Rx->Tx on the AP, do not Tx back to the origin
of the frame

Vladimir Kondratiev 41d6b093b7 wil6210: implement broadcast/multicast data
Use dedicated vring for multicast frames; this vring allocated for
AP and PBSS (both P2P GO and client) configurations

For short frames, use MCS0; for long - MCS1
