Daniel Borkmann 7a6e288d27 pktgen: ipv6: numa: consolidate skb allocation to pktgen_alloc_skb
We currently allow for numa-node aware skb allocation only within the
fill_packet_ipv4() path, but not in fill_packet_ipv6(). Consolidate that
code to a common allocation helper to enable numa-node aware skb
allocation for ipv6, and use it in both paths. This also makes both
functions a bit more readable.

Thomas Graf 525cebedb3 pktgen: Fix position of ip and udp header
skb_set_network_header() expects an offset based on the data pointer
whereas skb_tail_offset() also includes the headroom. This resulted
in the ip header being written in a wrong location.

Use return values of skb_put() directly and rely on skb->len to
set mac, network, and transport header.

Simon Horman 7cc4619005 net, ipv4, ipv6: Correct assignment of skb->network_header to skb->tail
This corrects an regression introduced by "net: Use 16bits for *_headers
fields of struct skbuff" when NET_SKBUFF_DATA_USES_OFFSET is not set. In
that case skb->tail will be a pointer however skb->network_header is now
an offset.

This patch corrects the problem by adding a wrapper to return skb tail as
an offset regardless of the value of NET_SKBUFF_DATA_USES_OFFSET. It seems
that skb->tail that this offset may be more than 64k and some care has been
taken to treat such cases as an error.

David S. Miller 188d1f76d0 Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net
Conflicts:
	drivers/net/ethernet/intel/e1000e/ethtool.c
	drivers/net/vmxnet3/vmxnet3_drv.c
	drivers/net/wireless/iwlwifi/dvm/tx.c
	net/ipv6/route.c

The ipv6 route.c conflict is simple, just ignore the 'net' side change
as we fixed the same problem in 'net-next' by eliminating cached
neighbours from ipv6 routes.

The e1000e conflict is an addition of a new statistic in the ethtool
code, trivial.

The vmxnet3 conflict is about one change in 'net' removing a guarding
conditional, whilst in 'net-next' we had a netdev_info() conversion.

The iwlwifi conflict is dealing with a WARN_ON() conversion in
'net-next' vs. a revert happening in 'net'.

Daniel Borkmann 398f382c0a pktgen: clean up ktime_t helpers
Some years ago, the ktime_t helper functions ktime_now() and ktime_lt()
have been introduced. Instead of defining them inside pktgen.c, they
should either use ktime_t library functions or, if not available, they
should be defined in ktime.h, so that also others can benefit from them.
ktime_compare() is introduced with a similar notion as in timespec_compare().

Amerigo Wang 5aa8b57200 pktgen: fix crash when generating IPv6 packets
For IPv6, sizeof(struct ipv6hdr) = 40, thus the following
expression will result negative:

        datalen = pkt_dev->cur_pkt_size - 14 -
                  sizeof(struct ipv6hdr) - sizeof(struct udphdr) -
                  pkt_dev->pkt_overhead;

And, the check "if (datalen < sizeof(struct pktgen_hdr))" will be
passed as "datalen" is promoted to unsigned, therefore will cause
a crash later.

This is a quick fix by checking if "datalen" is negative. The following
patch will increase the default value of 'min_pkt_size' for IPv6.

This bug should exist for a long time, so Cc -stable too.

Neil Horman d887331506 net: add IFF_SKB_TX_SHARED flag to priv_flags
Pktgen attempts to transmit shared skbs to net devices, which can't be used by
some drivers as they keep state information in skbs. This patch adds a flag
marking drivers as being able to handle shared skbs in their tx path. Drivers
are defaulted to being unable to do so, but calling ether_setup enables this
flag, as 90% of the drivers calling ether_setup touch real hardware and can
handle shared skbs. A subsequent patch will audit drivers to ensure that the
flag is set properly

Linus Torvalds 268bb0ce3e sanitize <linux/prefetch.h> usage
Commit e66eed651f ("list: remove prefetching from regular list
iterators") removed the include of prefetch.h from list.h, which
uncovered several cases that had apparently relied on that rather
obscure header file dependency.

So this fixes things up a bit, using

   grep -L linux/prefetch.h $(git grep -l '[^a-z_]prefetchw*(' -- '*.[ch]')
   grep -L 'prefetchw*(' $(git grep -l 'linux/prefetch.h' -- '*.[ch]')

to guide us in finding files that either need <linux/prefetch.h>
inclusion, or have it despite not needing it.

There are more of them around (mostly network drivers), but this gets
many core ones.

Alexey Dobriyan 4940fc889e net: add mac_pton() for parsing MAC address
mac_pton() parses MAC address in form XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX and only in that form.

mac_pton() doesn't dirty result until it's sure string representation is valid.

mac_pton() doesn't care about characters _after_ last octet,
it's up to caller to deal with it.

mac_pton() diverges from 0/-E return value convention.
Target usage:

	if (!mac_pton(str, whatever->mac))
		return -EINVAL;
	/* ->mac being u8 [ETH_ALEN] is filled at this point. */
	/* optionally check str[3 * ETH_ALEN - 1] for termination */

Use mac_pton() in pktgen and netconsole for start.

it's probably two cache lines are prefetched.

Solution to this problem is to use a odevname field (includes @ tag and suffix),
instead of using netdevice name.

cur_pkt_size can be changed in proc fs while pktgen is running,
we better use a private field to get precise tx-bytes counter.

Eric Dumazet 66ed1e5ec1 pktgen: Dont leak kernel memory
While playing with pktgen, I realized IP ID was not filled and a
random value was taken, possibly leaking 2 bytes of kernel memory.

We can use an increasing ID, this can help diagnostics anyway.

Also clear packet payload, instead of leaking kernel memory.

Eric Dumazet 896a7cf8d8 pktgen: Fix multiqueue handling
It is not currently possible to instruct pktgen to use one selected tx queue.

When Robert added multiqueue support in commit 45b270f8, he added
an interval (queue_map_min, queue_map_max), and his code doesnt take
into account the case of min = max, to select one tx queue exactly.

I suspect a high performance setup on a eight txqueue device wants
to use exactly eight cpus, and assign one tx queue to each sender.

This patchs makes pktgen select the right tx queue, not the first one.

Also updates Documentation to reflect Robert changes.

Eric Dumazet 417bc4b855 pktgen: Fix delay handling
After last pktgen changes, delay handling is wrong.

pktgen actually sends packets at full line speed.

Fix is to update pkt_dev->next_tx even if spin() returns early,
so that next spin() calls have a chance to see a positive delay.

Stephen Hemminger ef87979c27 pktgen: better scheduler friendliness
Previous update did not resched in inner loop causing watchdogs.
Rewrite inner loop to:
  * account for delays better with less clock calls
  * more accurate timing of delay:
    - only delay if packet was successfully sent
    - if delay is 100ns and it takes 10ns to build packet then
      account for that
  * use wait_event_interruptible_timeout rather than open coding it.
