The TCP_WINDOW_CLAMP socket option is defined in tcp(7) to "Bound the size
of the advertised window to this value." Window clamping is distributed
across two variables, window_clamp ("Maximal window to advertise" in
tcp.h) and rcv_ssthresh ("Current window clamp").
This patch updates the function where the window clamp is set to also
reduce the current window clamp, rcv_sshthresh, if needed. With this,
setting the TCP_WINDOW_CLAMP option has the documented effect of limiting
the window.

This is because in cipso_v4_doi_free() there is no check
on 'doi_def->map.std' when 'doi_def->type' equal 1, which
is possibe, since netlbl_cipsov4_add_std() haven't initialize
it before alloc 'doi_def->map.std'.
This patch just add the check to prevent panic happen for similar
cases.

A group of security researchers brought to our attention
the weakness of hash function used in fnhe_hashfun().
Lets use siphash instead of Jenkins Hash, to considerably
reduce security risks.
Also remove the inline keyword, this really is distracting.

This patch allows the bpf-tcp-cc to call bpf_setsockopt. One use
case is to allow a bpf-tcp-cc switching to another cc during init().
For example, when the tcp flow is not ecn ready, the bpf_dctcp
can switch to another cc by calling setsockopt(TCP_CONGESTION).
During setsockopt(TCP_CONGESTION), the new tcp-cc's init() will be
called and this could cause a recursion but it is stopped by the
current trampoline's logic (in the prog->active counter).
While retiring a bpf-tcp-cc (e.g. in tcp_v[46]_destroy_sock()),
the tcp stack calls bpf-tcp-cc's release(). To avoid the retiring
bpf-tcp-cc making further changes to the sk, bpf_setsockopt is not
available to the bpf-tcp-cc's release(). This will avoid release()
making setsockopt() call that will potentially allocate new resources.
Although the bpf-tcp-cc already has a more powerful way to read tcp_sock
from the PTR_TO_BTF_ID, it is usually expected that bpf_getsockopt and
bpf_setsockopt are available together. Thus, bpf_getsockopt() is also
added to all tcp_congestion_ops except release().
When the old bpf-tcp-cc is calling setsockopt(TCP_CONGESTION)
to switch to a new cc, the old bpf-tcp-cc will be released by
bpf_struct_ops_put(). Thus, this patch also puts the bpf_struct_ops_map
after a rcu grace period because the trampoline's image cannot be freed
while the old bpf-tcp-cc is still running.
bpf-tcp-cc can only access icsk_ca_priv as SCALAR. All kernel's
tcp-cc is also accessing the icsk_ca_priv as SCALAR. The size
of icsk_ca_priv has already been raised a few times to avoid
extra kmalloc and memory referencing. The only exception is the
kernel's tcp_cdg.c that stores a kmalloc()-ed pointer in icsk_ca_priv.
To avoid the old bpf-tcp-cc accidentally overriding this tcp_cdg's pointer
value stored in icsk_ca_priv after switching and without over-complicating
the bpf's verifier for this one exception in tcp_cdg, this patch does not
allow switching to tcp_cdg. If there is a need, bpf_tcp_cdg can be
implemented and then use the bpf_sk_storage as the extended storage.
bpf_sk_setsockopt proto has only been recently added and used
in bpf-sockopt and bpf-iter-tcp, so impose the tcp_cdg limitation in the
same proto instead of adding a new proto specifically for bpf-tcp-cc.

Commit fdacd57c79 ("netfilter: x_tables: never register tables by
default") introduces the function xt_register_template(), and in one case,
a call to that function was missing the error-case handling.
Handle when xt_register_template() returns an error value.
This was identified with the clang-analyzer's Dead-Store analysis.

Add an enum (cgroup_bpf_attach_type) containing only valid cgroup_bpf
attach types and a function to map bpf_attach_type values to the new
enum. Inspired by netns_bpf_attach_type.
Then, migrate cgroup_bpf to use cgroup_bpf_attach_type wherever
possible. Functionality is unchanged as attach_type_to_prog_type
switches in bpf/syscall.c were preventing non-cgroup programs from
making use of the invalid cgroup_bpf array slots.
As a result struct cgroup_bpf uses 504 fewer bytes relative to when its
arrays were sized using MAX_BPF_ATTACH_TYPE.
bpf_cgroup_storage is notably not migrated as struct
bpf_cgroup_storage_key is part of uapi and contains a bpf_attach_type
member which is not meant to be opaque. Similarly, bpf_cgroup_link
continues to report its bpf_attach_type member to userspace via fdinfo
and bpf_link_info.
To ease disambiguation, bpf_attach_type variables are renamed from
'type' to 'atype' when changed to cgroup_bpf_attach_type.

Add gfp_t mask as an input parameter to mem_cgroup_charge_skmem(),
to give more control to the networking stack and enable it to change
memcg charging behavior. In the future, the networking stack may decide
to avoid oom-kills when fallbacks are more appropriate.
One behavior change in mem_cgroup_charge_skmem() by this patch is to
avoid force charging by default and let the caller decide when and if
force charging is needed through the presence or absence of
__GFP_NOFAIL.

Since the original TFO server code was implemented in commit
168a8f5805 ("tcp: TCP Fast Open Server -
main code path") the TFO server code has supported the sysctl bit flag
TFO_SERVER_COOKIE_NOT_REQD. Currently, when the TFO_SERVER_ENABLE and
TFO_SERVER_COOKIE_NOT_REQD sysctl bit flags are set, a server connection
will accept a SYN with N bytes of data (N > 0) that has no TFO cookie,
create a new fast open connection, process the incoming data in the SYN,
and make the connection ready for accepting. After accepting, the
connection is ready for read()/recvmsg() to read the N bytes of data in
the SYN, ready for write()/sendmsg() calls and data transmissions to
transmit data.
This commit changes an edge case in this feature by changing this
behavior to apply to (N >= 0) bytes of data in the SYN rather than only
(N > 0) bytes of data in the SYN. Now, a server will accept a data-less
SYN without a TFO cookie if TFO_SERVER_COOKIE_NOT_REQD is set.
Caveat! While this enables a new kind of TFO (data-less empty-cookie
SYN), some firewall rules setup may not work if they assume such packets
are not legit TFOs and will filter them.

Currently if BBR congestion control is initialized after more than 2B
packets have been delivered, depending on the phase of the
tp->delivered counter the tracking of BBR round trips can get stuck.
The bug arises because if tp->delivered is between 2^31 and 2^32 at
the time the BBR congestion control module is initialized, then the
initialization of bbr->next_rtt_delivered to 0 will cause the logic to
believe that the end of the round trip is still billions of packets in
the future. More specifically, the following check will fail
repeatedly:
!before(rs->prior_delivered, bbr->next_rtt_delivered)
and thus the connection will take up to 2B packets delivered before
that check will pass and the connection will set:
bbr->round_start = 1;
This could cause many mechanisms in BBR to fail to trigger, for
example bbr_check_full_bw_reached() would likely never exit STARTUP.
This bug is 5 years old and has not been observed, and as a practical
matter this would likely rarely trigger, since it would require
transferring at least 2B packets, or likely more than 3 terabytes of
data, before switching congestion control algorithms to BBR.
This patch is a stable candidate for kernels as far back as v4.9,
when tcp_bbr.c was added.

For historical reasons x_tables still register tables by default in the
initial namespace.
Only newly created net namespaces add the hook on demand.
This means that the init_net always pays hook cost, even if no filtering
rules are added (e.g. only used inside a single netns).
Note that the hooks are added even when 'iptables -L' is called.
This is because there is no way to tell 'iptables -A' and 'iptables -L'
apart at kernel level.
The only solution would be to register the table, but delay hook
registration until the first rule gets added (or policy gets changed).
That however means that counters are not hooked either, so 'iptables -L'
would always show 0-counters even when traffic is flowing which might be
unexpected.
This keeps table and hook registration consistent with what is already done
in non-init netns: first iptables(-save) invocation registers both table
and hooks.
This applies the same solution adopted for ebtables.
All tables register a template that contains the l3 family, the name
and a constructor function that is called when the initial table has to
be added.

Revert the use of structr_size() and stay with IP_MSFILTER_SIZE() for
now, as in this case, the size of struct ip_msfilter didn't change with
the addition of the flexible array imsf_slist_flex[]. So, if we use
struct_size() we will be allocating and calculating the size of
struct ip_msfilter with one too many items for imsf_slist_flex[].
We might use struct_size() in the future, but for now let's stay
with IP_MSFILTER_SIZE().

There is a regular need in the kernel to provide a way to declare having
a dynamically sized set of trailing elements in a structure. Kernel code
should always use “flexible array members”[1] for these cases. The older
style of one-element or zero-length arrays should no longer be used[2].
Use an anonymous union with a couple of anonymous structs in order to
keep userspace unchanged:

Also, refactor the code accordingly and make use of the struct_size()
and flex_array_size() helpers.
This helps with the ongoing efforts to globally enable -Warray-bounds
and get us closer to being able to tighten the FORTIFY_SOURCE routines
on memcpy().

GSO expects inner transport header offset to be valid when
skb->encapsulation flag is set. GSO uses this value to calculate the length
of an individual segment of a GSO packet in skb_gso_transport_seglen().
However, tcp/udp gro_complete callbacks don't update the
skb->inner_transport_header when processing an encapsulated TCP/UDP
segment. As a result a GRO skb has ->inner_transport_header set to a value
carried over from earlier skb processing.
This can have mild to tragic consequences. From miscalculating the GSO
segment length to triggering a page fault [1], when trying to read TCP/UDP
header at an address past the skb->data page.
The latter scenario leads to an oops report like so:

The bug can be observed in a simple setup where we send IP/GRE/IP/TCP
packets into a netns over a veth pair. Inside the netns, packets are
forwarded to dummy device:

For veth B to GRO aggregate packets on receive, it needs to have an XDP
program attached (for example, a trivial XDP_PASS). Additionally, for UDP,
we need to enable GSO_UDP_L4 feature on the device:

Fix it by updating the inner transport header offset in tcp/udp
gro_complete callbacks, similar to how {inet,ipv6}_gro_complete callbacks
update the inner network header offset, when skb->encapsulation flag is

Do not register the arp mangling hooks from pernet init path.
As-is, load of the module is enough for these hooks to become active
in each net namespace.
Use checkentry instead so hook is only added if a CLUSTERIP rule is used.

The various ipv4 and ipv6 tunnel drivers each implement a set
of 12 SIOCDEVPRIVATE commands for managing tunnels. These
all work correctly in compat mode.
Move them over to the new .ndo_siocdevprivate operation.

Previously, a DSACK could expand the RACK reordering window when no
reordering has been seen, and/or when the DSACK was due to an
unnecessary TLP retransmit (rather than a spurious fast recovery due
to reordering). This could result in unnecessarily growing the RACK
reordering window and thus unnecessarily delaying RACK-based fast
recovery episodes.
To avoid these issues, this commit tightens the conditions under which
a DSACK triggers the RACK reordering window to grow, so that a
connection only expands its RACK reordering window if:
(a) reordering has been seen in the connection
(b) a DSACKed range does not match the most recent TLP retransmit

Previously TLP is considered spurious if the sender receives any
DSACK during a TLP episode. This patch further checks the DSACK
sequences match the TLP's to improve accuracy.

The problem is that the original code is trying to copy data into a
couple of struct members adjacent to each other in a single call to
memcpy(). This causes a legitimate compiler warning because memcpy()
overruns the length of &iph->saddr and &fl4->saddr. As these are just
a couple of struct members, fix this by using direct assignments,
instead of memcpy().
This helps with the ongoing efforts to globally enable -Warray-bounds
and get us closer to being able to tighten the FORTIFY_SOURCE routines
on memcpy().

This patch allows bpf tcp iter to call bpf_(get|set)sockopt.
To allow a specific bpf iter (tcp here) to call a set of helpers,
get_func_proto function pointer is added to bpf_iter_reg.
The bpf iter is a tracing prog which currently requires
CAP_PERFMON or CAP_SYS_ADMIN, so this patch does not
impose other capability checks for bpf_(get|set)sockopt.

This patch does batching and lock_sock for the bpf tcp iter.
It does not affect the proc fs iteration.
With bpf-tcp-cc, new algo rollout happens more often. Instead of
restarting the application to pick up the new tcp-cc, the next patch
will allow bpf iter to do setsockopt(TCP_CONGESTION). This requires
locking the sock.
Also, unlike the proc iteration (cat /proc/net/tcp[6]), the bpf iter
can inspect all fields of a tcp_sock. It will be useful to have a
consistent view on some of the fields (e.g. the ones reported in
tcp_get_info() that also acquires the sock lock).
Double lock: locking the bucket first and then locking the sock could
lead to deadlock. This patch takes a batching approach similar to
inet_diag. While holding the bucket lock, it batch a number of sockets
into an array first and then unlock the bucket. Before doing show(),
it then calls lock_sock_fast().
In a machine with ~400k connections, the maximum number of
sk in a bucket of the established hashtable is 7. 0.02% of
the established connections fall into this bucket size.
For listen hash (port+addr lhash2), the bucket is usually very
small also except for the SO_REUSEPORT use case which the
userspace could have one SO_REUSEPORT socket per thread.
While batching is used, it can also minimize the chance of missing
sock in the setsockopt use case if the whole bucket is batched.
This patch will start with a batch array with INIT_BATCH_SZ (16)
which will be enough for the most common cases. bpf_iter_tcp_batch()
will try to realloc to a larger array to handle exception case (e.g.
the SO_REUSEPORT case in the lhash2).

This patch moves the tcp seq_file iteration on listeners
from the port only listening_hash to the port+addr lhash2.
When iterating from the bpf iter, the next patch will need to
lock the socket such that the bpf iter can call setsockopt (e.g. to
change the TCP_CONGESTION). To avoid locking the bucket and then locking
the sock, the bpf iter will first batch some sockets from the same bucket
and then unlock the bucket. If the bucket size is small (which
usually is), it is easier to batch the whole bucket such that it is less
likely to miss a setsockopt on a socket due to changes in the bucket.
However, the port only listening_hash could have many listeners
hashed to a bucket (e.g. many individual VIP(s):443 and also
multiple by the number of SO_REUSEPORT). We have seen bucket size in
tens of thousands range. Also, the chance of having changes
in some popular port buckets (e.g. 443) is also high.
The port+addr lhash2 was introduced to solve this large listener bucket
issue. Also, the listening_hash usage has already been replaced with
lhash2 in the fast path inet[6]_lookup_listener(). This patch follows
the same direction on moving to lhash2 and iterates the lhash2
instead of listening_hash.

The current listening_get_next() is overloaded by passing
NULL to the 2nd arg, like listening_get_next(seq, NULL), to
mean get_first().
This patch moves some logic from the listening_get_next() into
a new function listening_get_first(). It will be equivalent
to the current established_get_first() and established_get_next()
setup. get_first() is to find a non empty bucket and return
the first sk. get_next() is to find the next sk of the current
bucket and then resorts to get_first() if the current bucket is
exhausted.
The next patch is to move the listener seq_file iteration from
listening_hash (port only) to lhash2 (port+addr).
Separating out listening_get_first() from listening_get_next()
here will make the following lhash2 changes cleaner and easier to
follow.

A following patch will create a separate struct to store extra
bpf_iter state and it will embed the existing tcp_iter_state like this:

As a prep work, this patch removes the
"struct tcp_seq_afinfo *bpf_seq_afinfo" where its purpose is
to tell if it is iterating from bpf_iter instead of proc fs.
Currently, if "*bpf_seq_afinfo" is not NULL, it is iterating from
bpf_iter. The kernel should not filter by the addr family and
leave this filtering decision to the bpf prog.
Instead of adding a "*bpf_seq_afinfo" pointer, this patch uses the
"seq->op == &bpf_iter_tcp_seq_ops" test to tell if it is iterating
from the bpf iter.
The bpf_iter_(init|fini)_tcp() is left here to prepare for
the change of a following patch.

st->bucket stores the current bucket number.
st->offset stores the offset within this bucket that is the sk to be
seq_show(). Thus, st->offset only makes sense within the same
st->bucket.
These two variables are an optimization for the common no-lseek case.
When resuming the seq_file iteration (i.e. seq_start()),
tcp_seek_last_pos() tries to continue from the st->offset
at bucket st->bucket.
However, it is possible that the bucket pointed by st->bucket
has changed and st->offset may end up skipping the whole st->bucket
without finding a sk. In this case, tcp_seek_last_pos() currently
continues to satisfy the offset condition in the next (and incorrect)
bucket. Instead, regardless of the offset value, the first sk of the
next bucket should be returned. Thus, "bucket == st->bucket" check is
added to tcp_seek_last_pos().
The chance of hitting this is small and the issue is a decade old,
so targeting for the next tree.

In cases where the header straight after the tunnel header was
another ethernet header (TEB), instead of the network header,
the ECN decapsulation code would treat the ethernet header as if
it was an IP header, resulting in mishandling and possible
wrong drops or corruption of the IP header.
In this case, ECT(1) is sent, so IP_ECN_decapsulate tries to copy it to the
inner IPv4 header, and correct its checksum.
The offset of the ECT bits in an IPv4 header corresponds to the
lower 2 bits of the second octet of the destination MAC address
in the ethernet header.
The IPv4 checksum corresponds to end of the source address.

compat_ifreq_ioctl() is one of the last users of copy_in_user() and
compat_alloc_user_space(), as it attempts to convert the 'struct ifreq'
arguments from 32-bit to 64-bit format as used by dev_ioctl() and a
couple of socket family specific interpretations.
The current implementation works correctly when calling dev_ioctl(),
inet_ioctl(), ieee802154_sock_ioctl(), atalk_ioctl(), qrtr_ioctl()
and packet_ioctl(). The ioctl handlers for x25, netrom, rose and x25 do
not interpret the arguments and only block the corresponding commands,
so they do not care.
For af_inet6 and af_decnet however, the compat conversion is slightly
incorrect, as it will copy more data than the native handler accesses,
both of them use a structure that is shorter than ifreq.
Replace the copy_in_user() conversion with a pair of accessor functions
to read and write the ifreq data in place with the correct length where
needed, while leaving the other ones to copy the (already compatible)
structures directly.

Since dynamic registration of the gifconf() helper is only used for
IPv4, and this can not be in a loadable module, this can be simplified
noticeably by turning it into a direct function call as a preparation
for cleaning up the compat handling.

Multiple complaints have been raised from the TFO users on the internet
stating that the TFO blackhole logic is too aggressive and gets falsely
triggered too often.
(e.g. https://blog.apnic.net/2021/07/05/tcp-fast-open-not-so-fast/)
Considering that most middleboxes no longer drop TFO packets, we decide
to disable the blackhole logic by setting
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_fastopen_blackhole_timeout_set to 0 by default.

tcp_grow_window() is using skb->len/skb->truesize to increase tp->rcv_ssthresh
which has a direct impact on advertized window sizes.
We added TCP coalescing in linux-3.4 & linux-3.5:
Instead of storing skbs with one or two MSS in receive queue (or OFO queue),
we try to append segments together to reduce memory overhead.
High performance network drivers tend to cook skb with 3 parts :
1) sk_buff structure (256 bytes)
2) skb->head contains room to copy headers as needed, and skb_shared_info
3) page fragment(s) containing the ~1514 bytes frame (or more depending on MTU)
Once coalesced into a previous skb, 1) and 2) are freed.
We can therefore tweak the way we compute len/truesize ratio knowing
that skb->truesize is inflated by 1) and 2) soon to be freed.
This is done only for in-order skb, or skb coalesced into OFO queue.
The result is that low rate flows no longer pay the memory price of having
low GRO aggregation factor. Same result for drivers not using GRO.
This is critical to allow a big enough receiver window,
typically tcp_rmem[2] / 2.
We have been using this at Google for about 5 years, it is due time
to make it upstream.

Commit d26796ae58 ("udp: check udp sock encap_type in __udp_lib_err")
added checks for encapsulated sockets but it broke cases when there is
no implementation of encap_err_lookup for encapsulation, i.e. ESP in
UDP encapsulation. Fix it by calling encap_err_lookup only if socket
implements this method otherwise treat it as legal socket.

Root in init user namespace can modify /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
without CAP_NET_ADMIN, this doesn't follow the principle of
capabilities. For example, let's take a look at netdev_store(),
root can't modify netdev attribute without CAP_NET_ADMIN.
So let's keep the consistency of permission check logic.

to allocate up to several megabytes of memory per netns
for inet_bind_bucket objects.
It makes sense to account for them to restrict the host's memory

An netadmin inside container can use 'ip a a' and 'ip r a'
to assign a large number of ipv4/ipv6 addresses and routing entries
and force kernel to allocate megabytes of unaccounted memory
for long-lived per-netdevice related kernel objects:
'struct in_ifaddr', 'struct inet6_ifaddr', 'struct fib6_node',
'struct rt6_info', 'struct fib_rules' and ip_fib caches.
These objects can be manually removed, though usually they lives
in memory till destroy of its net namespace.
It makes sense to account for them to restrict the host's memory
consumption from inside the memcg-limited container.
One of such objects is the 'struct fib6_node' mostly allocated in
net/ipv6/route.c::__ip6_ins_rt() inside the lock_bh()/unlock_bh() section:

In this case it is not enough to simply add SLAB_ACCOUNT to corresponding

tfo_active_disable_stamp is read and written locklessly.
We need to annotate these accesses appropriately.
Then, we need to perform the atomic_inc(tfo_active_disable_times)
after the timestamp has been updated, and thus add barriers
to make sure tcp_fastopen_active_should_disable() wont read
a stale timestamp.

TCP and other connection oriented sockets have accept()
for each incoming connection on the server side, hence
they can just insert those fd's from accept() to sockmap,
which are of course established.
Now with datagram sockets begin to support sockmap and
redirection, the restriction is no longer applicable to
them, as they have no accept(). So we have to lift this
restriction for them. This is fine, because inside
bpf_sk_redirect_map() we still have another socket status
check, sock_map_redirect_allowed(), as a guard.
This also means they do not have to be removed from
sockmap when disconnecting.

The proc socket stats use sk_prot->inuse_idx value to record inuse sock
stats. We currently do not set this correctly from sockmap side. The
result is reading sock stats '/proc/net/sockstat' gives incorrect values.
The socket counter is incremented correctly, but because we don't set the
counter correctly when we replace sk_prot we may omit the decrement.
To get the correct inuse_idx value move the core_initcall that initializes
the UDP proto handlers to late_initcall. This way it is initialized after
UDP has the chance to assign the inuse_idx value from the register protocol
handler.

If check_fully_established() causes a subflow reset, it should not
continue to process the packet in tcp_data_queue().
Add a return value to mptcp_incoming_options(), and return false if a
subflow has been reset, else return true. Then drop the packet in
tcp_data_queue()/tcp_rcv_state_process() if mptcp_incoming_options()
return false.

Commit 28e104d002 ("net: ip_tunnel: fix mtu calculation") removed
dev->hard_header_len subtraction when calculate MTU for tunnel devices
as there is an overhead for device that has header_ops.
But there are ETHER tunnel devices, like gre_tap or erspan, which don't
have header_ops but set dev->hard_header_len during setup. This makes
pkts greater than (MTU - ETH_HLEN) could not be xmited. Fix it by
subtracting the ETHER tunnel devices' dev->hard_header_len for MTU
calculation.

sk_wmem_schedule makes sure that sk_forward_alloc has enough
bytes for charging that is going to be done by sk_mem_charge.
In the transmit zerocopy path, there is sk_mem_charge but there was
no call to sk_wmem_schedule. This change adds that call.
Without this call to sk_wmem_schedule, sk_forward_alloc can go
negetive which is a bug because sk_forward_alloc is a per-socket
space that has been forward charged so this can't be negative.

While TCP stack scales reasonably well, there is still one part that
can be used to DDOS it.
IPv6 Packet too big messages have to lookup/insert a new route,
and if abused by attackers, can easily put hosts under high stress,
with many cpus contending on a spinlock while one is stuck in fib6_run_gc()

Some of our servers have been hit by malicious ICMPv6 packets
trying to _increase_ the MTU/MSS of TCP flows.
We believe these ICMPv6 packets are a result of a bug in one ISP stack,
since they were blindly sent back for _every_ (small) packet sent to them.

TCP stack can filter some silly requests :
1) MTU below IPV6_MIN_MTU can be filtered early in tcp_v6_err()
2) tcp_v6_mtu_reduced() can drop requests trying to increase current MSS.
This tests happen before the IPv6 routing stack is entered, thus
removing the potential contention and route exhaustion.
Note that IPv6 stack was performing these checks, but too late
(ie : after the route has been added, and after the potential
garbage collect war)

This commit fixes a bug (found by syzkaller) that could cause spurious
double-initializations for congestion control modules, which could cause
memory leaks or other problems for congestion control modules (like CDG)
that allocate memory in their init functions.
The buggy scenario constructed by syzkaller was something like:
(1) create a TCP socket
(2) initiate a TFO connect via sendto()
(3) while socket is in TCP_SYN_SENT, call setsockopt(TCP_CONGESTION),
which calls:
tcp_set_congestion_control() ->
tcp_reinit_congestion_control() ->
tcp_init_congestion_control()
(4) receive ACK, connection is established, call tcp_init_transfer(),
set icsk_ca_initialized=0 (without first calling cc->release()),
call tcp_init_congestion_control() again.
Note that in this sequence tcp_init_congestion_control() is called
twice without a cc->release() call in between. Thus, for CC modules
that allocate memory in their init() function, e.g, CDG, a memory leak
may occur. The syzkaller tool managed to find a reproducer that
triggered such a leak in CDG.
The bug was introduced when that commit 8919a9b31e ("tcp: Only init
congestion control if not initialized already")
introduced icsk_ca_initialized and set icsk_ca_initialized to 0 in
tcp_init_transfer(), missing the possibility for a sequence like the
one above, where a process could call setsockopt(TCP_CONGESTION) in
state TCP_SYN_SENT (i.e. after the connect() or TFO open sendmsg()),
which would call tcp_init_congestion_control(). It did not intend to
reset any initialization that the user had already explicitly made;
it just missed the possibility of that particular sequence (which
syzkaller managed to find).

If an UDP packet enters the GRO engine but is not eligible
for aggregation and is not targeting an UDP tunnel,
udp_gro_receive() will not set the flush bit, and packet
could delayed till the next napi flush.
Fix the issue ensuring non GROed packets traverse
skb_gro_flush_final().

Use vma_lookup() to find the VMA at a specific address. As vma_lookup()
will return NULL if the address is not within any VMA, the start address
no longer needs to be validated.

This patch builds off of commit 2b246b2569
and adds functionality to respond to ICMPV6 PROBE requests.
Add icmp_build_probe function to construct PROBE requests for both
ICMPV4 and ICMPV6.
Modify icmpv6_rcv to detect ICMPV6 PROBE messages and call the
icmpv6_echo_reply handler.
Modify icmpv6_echo_reply to build a PROBE response message based on the
queried interface.
This patch has been tested using a branch of the iputils git repo which can

Commit e271c7b442 ("gre: do not keep the GRE header around in collect
medata mode") did reset the mac_header for the collect_md case. Let's
extend this behaviour to classical gre devices as well.
ipgre_header_parse() seems to be the only case that requires mac_header
to point to the outer header. We can detect this case accurately by
checking ->header_ops. For all other cases, we can reset mac_header.
This allows to push an Ethernet header to ipgre packets and redirect
them to an Ethernet device:

Before this patch, this worked only for collect_md gre devices.

Even though ipip transports IPv4 or MPLS packets, it needs to reset the
mac_header pointer, so that other parts of the stack don't mistakenly
access the outer header after the packet has been decapsulated.
This allows to push an Ethernet header to ipip or mplsip packets and
redirect them to an Ethernet device:

Without this patch, push_eth refuses to add an ethernet header because

Commit 14972cbd34 ("net: lwtunnel: Handle fragmentation") moved
fragmentation logic away from lwtunnel by carry encap headroom and
use it in output MTU calculation. But the forwarding part was not
covered and created difference in MTU for output and forwarding and
further to silent drops on ipv4 forwarding path. Fix it by taking
into account lwtunnel encap headroom.
The same commit also introduced difference in how to treat RTAX_MTU
in IPv4 and IPv6 where latter explicitly removes lwtunnel encap
headroom from route MTU. Make IPv4 version do the same.

Dave observed number of machines hitting OOM on the UDP send
path. The workload seems to be sending large UDP packets over
loopback. Since loopback has MTU of 64k kernel will try to
allocate an skb with up to 64k of head space. This has a good
chance of failing under memory pressure. What's worse if
the message length is <32k the allocation may trigger an
OOM killer.
This is entirely avoidable, we can use an skb with page frags.
af_unix solves a similar problem by limiting the head
length to SKB_MAX_ALLOC. This seems like a good and simple
approach. It means that UDP messages > 16kB will now
use fragments if underlying device supports SG, if extra
allocator pressure causes regressions in real workloads
we can switch to trying the large allocation first and
falling back.

This commit adds two stats for the socket migration feature to evaluate the
effectiveness: LINUX_MIB_TCPMIGRATEREQ(SUCCESS|FAILURE).
If the migration fails because of the own_req race in receiving ACK and
sending SYN+ACK paths, we do not increment the failure stat. Then another
CPU is responsible for the req.

sk_psock_verdict_recv() clones the skb and uses the clone
afterward, so udp_read_sock() should free the skb after using
it, regardless of error or not.
This fixes a real kmemleak.

I tried to reuse sk_msg_wait_data() for different protocols,
but it turns out it can not be simply reused. For example,
UDP actually uses two queues to receive skb:
udp_sk(sk)->reader_queue and sk->sk_receive_queue. So we have
to check both of them to know whether we have received any
packet.
Also, UDP does not lock the sock during BH Rx path, it makes
no sense for its ->recvmsg() to lock the sock. It is always
possible for ->recvmsg() to be called before packets actually
arrive in the receive queue, we just use best effort to make
it accurate here.

When constructing ICMP response messages, the kernel will try to pick a
suitable source address for the outgoing packet. However, if no IPv4
addresses are configured on the system at all, this will fail and we end up
producing an ICMP message with a source address of 0.0.0.0. This can happen
on a box routing IPv4 traffic via v6 nexthops, for instance.
Since 0.0.0.0 is not generally routable on the internet, there's a good
chance that such ICMP messages will never make it back to the sender of the
original packet that the ICMP message was sent in response to. This, in
turn, can create connectivity and PMTUd problems for senders. Fortunately,
RFC7600 reserves a dummy address to be used as a source for ICMP
messages (192.0.0.8/32), so let's teach the kernel to substitute that
address as a last resort if the regular source address selection procedure
fails.

In commit 24803f38a5 ("igmp: do not remove igmp souce list info when set
link down"), the ip_mc_clear_src() in ip_mc_destroy_dev() was removed,
because it was also called in igmpv3_clear_delrec().

However, ip_mc_clear_src() called in igmpv3_clear_delrec() doesn't

NULL to dev->ip_ptr. As a result, in_dev cannot be obtained through
inetdev_by_index() and then in_dev->mc_list->sources cannot be released
by ip_mc_del1_src() in the sock_close. Rough call sequence goes like:

-> __sock_release
-> inet_release
-> ip_mc_drop_socket
-> inetdev_by_index
-> ip_mc_leave_src
-> ip_mc_del_src
-> ip_mc_del1_src
So we still need to call ip_mc_clear_src() in ip_mc_destroy_dev() to free

This patch also changes the code to call reuseport_migrate_sock() and
inet_reqsk_clone(), but unlike the other cases, we do not call
inet_reqsk_clone() right after reuseport_migrate_sock().
Currently, in the receive path for TCP_NEW_SYN_RECV sockets, its listener
has three kinds of refcnt:
(A) for listener itself
(B) carried by reuqest_sock
(C) sock_hold() in tcp_v[46]_rcv()
While processing the req, (A) may disappear by close(listener). Also, (B)
can disappear by accept(listener) once we put the req into the accept
queue. So, we have to hold another refcnt (C) for the listener to prevent
use-after-free.
For socket migration, we call reuseport_migrate_sock() to select a listener
with (A) and to increment the new listener's refcnt in tcp_v[46]_rcv().
This refcnt corresponds to (C) and is cleaned up later in tcp_v[46]_rcv().
Thus we have to take another refcnt (B) for the newly cloned request_sock.
In inet_csk_complete_hashdance(), we hold the count (B), clone the req, and
try to put the new req into the accept queue. By migrating req after
winning the "own_req" race, we can avoid such a worst situation:
CPU 1 looks up req1
CPU 2 looks up req1, unhashes it, then CPU 1 loses the race
CPU 3 looks up req2, unhashes it, then CPU 2 loses the race
...

As with the preceding patch, this patch changes reqsk_timer_handler() to
call reuseport_migrate_sock() and inet_reqsk_clone() to migrate in-flight
requests at retransmitting SYN+ACKs. If we can select a new listener and
clone the request, we resume setting the SYN+ACK timer for the new req. If
we can set the timer, we call inet_ehash_insert() to unhash the old req and
put the new req into ehash.
The noteworthy point here is that by unhashing the old req, another CPU
processing it may lose the "own_req" race in tcp_v[46]_syn_recv_sock() and
drop the final ACK packet. However, the new timer will recover this
situation.

When we call close() or shutdown() for listening sockets, each child socket
in the accept queue are freed at inet_csk_listen_stop(). If we can get a
new listener by reuseport_migrate_sock() and clone the request by
inet_reqsk_clone(), we try to add it into the new listener's accept queue
by inet_csk_reqsk_queue_add(). If it fails, we have to call __reqsk_free()
to call sock_put() for its listener and free the cloned request.
After putting the full socket into ehash, tcp_v[46]_syn_recv_sock() sets
NULL to ireq_opt/pktopts in struct inet_request_sock, but ipv6_opt can be
non-NULL. So, we have to set NULL to ipv6_opt of the old request to avoid
double free.
Note that we do not update req->rsk_listener and instead clone the req to
migrate because another path may reference the original request. If we
protected it by RCU, we would need to add rcu_read_lock() in many places.

When we close a listening socket, to migrate its connections to another
listener in the same reuseport group, we have to handle two kinds of child
sockets. One is that a listening socket has a reference to, and the other
is not.
The former is the TCP_ESTABLISHED/TCP_SYN_RECV sockets, and they are in the
accept queue of their listening socket. So we can pop them out and push
them into another listener's queue at close() or shutdown() syscalls. On
the other hand, the latter, the TCP_NEW_SYN_RECV socket is during the
three-way handshake and not in the accept queue. Thus, we cannot access
such sockets at close() or shutdown() syscalls. Accordingly, we have to
migrate immature sockets after their listening socket has been closed.
Currently, if their listening socket has been closed, TCP_NEW_SYN_RECV
sockets are freed at receiving the final ACK or retransmitting SYN+ACKs. At
that time, if we could select a new listener from the same reuseport group,
no connection would be aborted. However, we cannot do that because
reuseport_detach_sock() sets NULL to sk_reuseport_cb and forbids access to
the reuseport group from closed sockets.
This patch allows TCP_CLOSE sockets to remain in the reuseport group and
access it while any child socket references them. The point is that
reuseport_detach_sock() was called twice from inet_unhash() and
sk_destruct(). This patch replaces the first reuseport_detach_sock() with
reuseport_stop_listen_sock(), which checks if the reuseport group is
capable of migration. If capable, it decrements num_socks, moves the socket
backwards in socks[] and increments num_closed_socks. When all connections
are migrated, sk_destruct() calls reuseport_detach_sock() to remove the
socket from socks[], decrement num_closed_socks, and set NULL to
sk_reuseport_cb.
By this change, closed or shutdowned sockets can keep sk_reuseport_cb.
Consequently, calling listen() after shutdown() can cause EADDRINUSE or
EBUSY in inet_csk_bind_conflict() or reuseport_add_sock() which expects
such sockets not to have the reuseport group. Therefore, this patch also
loosens such validation rules so that a socket can listen again if it has a
reuseport group with num_closed_socks more than 0.
When such sockets listen again, we handle them in reuseport_resurrect(). If
there is an existing reuseport group (reuseport_add_sock() path), we move
the socket from the old group to the new one and free the old one if
necessary. If there is no existing group (reuseport_alloc() path), we
allocate a new reuseport group, detach sk from the old one, and free it if
necessary, not to break the current shutdown behaviour:
- we cannot carry over the eBPF prog of shutdowned sockets
- we cannot attach/detach an eBPF prog to/from listening sockets via
shutdowned sockets
Note that when the number of sockets gets over U16_MAX, we try to detach a
closed socket randomly to make room for the new listening socket in
reuseport_grow().

This commit adds a new sysctl option: net.ipv4.tcp_migrate_req. If this
option is enabled or eBPF program is attached, we will be able to migrate
child sockets from a listener to another in the same reuseport group after
close() or shutdown() syscalls.

Oliver reported a use case where deleting a VRF device can hang
waiting for the refcnt to drop to 0. The root cause is that the dst
is allocated against the VRF device but cached on the loopback
device.
The use case (added to the selftests) has an implicit VRF crossing
due to the ordering of the FIB rules (lookup local is before the
l3mdev rule, but the problem occurs even if the FIB rules are
re-ordered with local after l3mdev because the VRF table does not
have a default route to terminate the lookup). The end result is
is that the FIB lookup returns the loopback device as the nexthop,
but the ingress device is in a VRF. The mismatch causes the dst
alloc against the VRF device but then cached on the loopback.
The fix is to bring the trick used for IPv6 (see ip6_rt_get_dev_rcu):
pick the dst alloc device based the fib lookup result but with checks
that the result has a nexthop device (e.g., not an unreachable or
prohibit entry).

Kaustubh reported and diagnosed a panic in udp_lib_lookup().
The root cause is udp_abort() racing with close(). Both
racing functions acquire the socket lock, but udp{v6}_destroy_sock()
release it before performing destructive actions.
We can't easily extend the socket lock scope to avoid the race,
instead use the SOCK_DEAD flag to prevent udp_abort from doing
any action when the critical race happens.

Both functions are known to be racy when reading inet_num
as we do not want to grab locks for the common case the socket
has been bound already. The race is resolved in inet_autobind()
by reading again inet_num under the socket lock.

This patch aims to improve the situation when reordering and loss are
ocurring in the same flight of packets.
Previously the reordering would first induce a spurious recovery, then
the subsequent ACK may undo the cwnd (based on the timestamps e.g.).
However the current loss recovery does not proceed to invoke
RACK to install a reordering timer. If some packets are also lost, this
may lead to a long RTO-based recovery. An example is
https://groups.google.com/g/bbr-dev/c/OFHADvJbTEI
The solution is to after reverting the recovery, always invoke RACK
to either mount the RACK timer to fast retransmit after the reordering
window, or restarts the recovery if new loss is identified. Hence
it is possible the sender may go from Recovery to Disorder/Open to
Recovery again in one ACK.

If the user specifies a hostname or domain name as part of the ip=
command-line option, preserve it and don't overwrite it with one
supplied by DHCP/BOOTP.
For instance, ip=::::myhostname::dhcp will use "myhostname" rather than
ignoring and overwriting it.
Fix the comment on ic_bootp_string that suggests it only copies a string
"if not already set"; it doesn't have any such logic.

Add a new multipath hash policy where the packet fields used for hash
calculation are determined by user space via the
fib_multipath_hash_fields sysctl that was introduced in the previous
patch.
The current set of available packet fields includes both outer and inner
fields, which requires two invocations of the flow dissector. Avoid
unnecessary dissection of the outer or inner flows by skipping
dissection if none of the outer or inner fields are required.
In accordance with the existing policies, when an skb is not available,
packet fields are extracted from the provided flow key. In which case,
only outer fields are considered.

A subsequent patch will add a new multipath hash policy where the packet
fields used for multipath hash calculation are determined by user space.
This patch adds a sysctl that allows user space to set these fields.
The packet fields are represented using a bitmask and are common between
IPv4 and IPv6 to allow user space to use the same numbering across both
protocols. For example, to hash based on standard 5-tuple:

net.ipv4.fib_multipath_hash_fields = 0x0037
The kernel rejects unknown fields, for example:

Add a tracepoint for capturing TCP segments with
a bad checksum. This makes it easy to identify
sources of bad frames in the fleet (e.g. machines
with faulty NICs).
It should also help tools like IOvisor's tcpdrop.py
which are used today to get detailed information
about such packets.
We don't have a socket in many cases so we must
open code the address extraction based just on
the skb.

During the discussion in [0]. It was pointed out that static functions
in ppc64 is prefixed with ".". For example, the 'readelf -s vmlinux.ppc':

89327: c000000000c97c50 168 FUNC LOCAL DEFAULT 2 .cubictcp_init
The one with FUNC type is ".cubictcp_init" instead of "cubictcp_init".
The "." seems to be done by arch/powerpc/include/asm/ppc_asm.h.
This caused that pahole cannot generate the BTF for these tcp-cc kernel
functions because pahole only captures the FUNC type and "cubictcp_init"
is not. It then failed the kernel compilation in ppc64.
This behavior is only reported in ppc64 so far. I tried arm64, s390,
and sparc64 and did not observe this "." prefix and NOTYPE behavior.
Since the kfunc call is only supported in the x86_64 and x86_32 JIT,
this patch limits those tcp-cc functions to x86 only to avoid unnecessary
compilation issue in other ARCHs. In the future, we can examine if it
is better to change all those functions from static to extern.

When we call af_ops->set_link_af() we hold a RCU read lock
as we retrieve af_ops from the RCU protected list, but this
is unnecessary because we already hold RTNL lock, which is
the writer lock for protecting rtnl_af_ops, so it is safer
than RCU read lock. Similar for af_ops->validate_link_af().
This was not a problem until we begin to take mutex lock
down the path of ->set_link_af() in __ipv6_dev_mc_dec()
recently. We can just drop the RCU read lock there and
assert RTNL lock.

A prior change (1f466e1f15) introduces separate handling for
->msg_control depending on whether the pointer is a kernel or user
pointer. However, while tcp receive zerocopy is using this field, it
is not properly annotating that the buffer in this case is a user
pointer. This can cause faults when the improper mechanism is used
within put_cmsg().
This patch simply annotates tcp receive zerocopy's use as explicitly
being a user pointer.

tcp_set_default_congestion_control() is netns-safe in that it writes
to &net->ipv4.tcp_congestion_control, but it also sets
ca->flags |= TCP_CONG_NON_RESTRICTED which is not namespaced.
This has the unintended side-effect of changing the global
net.ipv4.tcp_allowed_congestion_control sysctl, despite the fact that it
is read-only: 97684f0970 ("net: Make tcp_allowed_congestion_control
readonly in non-init netns")
Resolve this netns "leak" by only allowing the init netns to set the
default algorithm to one that is restricted. This restriction could be
removed if tcp_allowed_congestion_control were namespace-ified in the
future.

The current definitions of constants for PROBE, currently defined only
in the net-next kernel branch, are inconsistent, with
some beginning with ICMP and others with simply EXT. This patch
attempts to standardize the naming conventions of the constants for
PROBE before their release into a stable Kernel, and to update the
relevant definitions in net/ipv4/icmp.c.
Similarly, the definitions for the code field (previously
ICMP_EXT_MAL_QUERY, etc) use the same prefixes as the type field. This
patch adds _CODE_ to the prefix to clarify the distinction of these
constants.

The compat layer needs to parse untrusted input (the ruleset)
to translate it to a 64bit compatible format.
We had a number of bugs in this department in the past, so allow users
to turn this feature off.
Add CONFIG_NETFILTER_XTABLES_COMPAT kconfig knob and make it default to y
to keep existing behaviour.

iptable_x modules rely on 'struct net' to contain a pointer to the
table that should be evaluated.
In order to remove these pointers from struct net, pass them via
the 'priv' pointer in a similar fashion as nf_tables passes the
rule data.
To do that, duplicate the nf_hook_info array passed in from the
iptable_x modules, update the ops->priv pointers of the copy to
refer to the table and then change the hookfn implementations to
just pass the 'priv' argument to the traverser.
After this patch, the xt_table pointers can already be removed
from struct net.
However, changes to struct net result in re-compile of the entire
network stack, so do the removal after arptables and ip6tables
have been converted as well.

This changes how ip(6)table nat passes the ruleset/table to the
evaluation loop.
At the moment, it will fetch the table from struct net.
This change stores the table in the hook_ops 'priv' argument
instead.
This requires to duplicate the hook_ops for each netns, so
they can store the (per-net) xt_table structure.
The dupliated nat hook_ops get stored in net_generic data area.
They are free'd in the namespace exit path.
This is a pre-requisite to remove the xt_table/ruleset pointers
from struct net.

There is only one caller, the xtables core, when the table is registered
for the first time with a particular network namespace.
After ->table_init() call, the table is linked into the tables[af] list,
so next call to that function will skip the ->table_init().

xtables stores the xt_table structs in the struct net. This isn't
needed anymore, the structures could be passed via the netfilter hook
'private' pointer to the hook functions, which would allow us to remove
those pointers from struct net.
As a first step, reduce the number of accesses to the
net->ipv4.ip6table_{raw,filter,...} pointers.
This allows the tables to get unregistered by name instead of having to
pass the raw address.
The xt_table structure cane looked up by name+address family instead.
This patch is useless as-is (the backends still have the raw pointer
address), but it lowers the bar to remove those.
It also allows to put the 'was table registered in the first place' check
into ip_tables.c rather than have it in each table sub module.

When I changed defrag hooks to no longer get registered by default I
intentionally made it so that registration can only be un-done by unloading
the nf_defrag_ipv4/6 module.
In hindsight this was too conservative; there is no reason to keep defrag
on while there is no feature dependency anymore.
Moreover, this won't work if user isn't allowed to remove nf_defrag module.
This adds the disable() functions for both ipv4 and ipv6 and calls them
from conntrack, TPROXY and the xtables socket module.
ipvs isn't converted here, it will behave as before this patch and
will need module removal.

Currently, a multi-part nexthop dump is restarted based on the number of
nexthops that have been dumped so far. This can result in a lot of
nexthops not being dumped when nexthops are simultaneously deleted:

Jianwen reported that IPv6 Interoperability tests are failing in an
IPsec case where one of the links between the IPsec peers has an MTU
of 1280. The peer generates a packet larger than this MTU, the router
replies with a "Packet too big" message indicating an MTU of 1280.
When the peer tries to send another large packet, xfrm_state_mtu
returns 1280 - ipsec_overhead, which causes ip6_setup_cork to fail
with EINVAL.
We can fix this by forcing xfrm_state_mtu to return IPV6_MIN_MTU when
IPv6 is used. After going through IPsec, the packet will then be
fragmented to obey the actual network's PMTU, just before leaving the
host.
Currently, TFC padding is capped to PMTU - overhead to avoid
fragementation: after padding and encapsulation, we still fit within
the PMTU. That behavior is preserved in this patch.

Netfilter tries to reroute mangled packets as a different route might
need to be used following the mangling. When this happens, netfilter
does not populate the IP protocol, the source port and the destination
port in the flow key. Therefore, FIB rules that match on these fields
are ignored and packets can be misrouted.
Solve this by dissecting the outer flow and populating the flow key
before rerouting the packet. Note that flow dissection only happens when
FIB rules that match on these fields are installed, so in the common
case there should not be a penalty.

Currently, tcp_allowed_congestion_control is global and writable;
writing to it in any net namespace will leak into all other net
namespaces.
tcp_available_congestion_control and tcp_allowed_congestion_control are
the only sysctls in ipv4_net_table (the per-netns sysctl table) with a
NULL data pointer; their handlers (proc_tcp_available_congestion_control
and proc_allowed_congestion_control) have no other way of referencing a
struct net. Thus, they operate globally.
Because ipv4_net_table does not use designated initializers, there is no
easy way to fix up this one "bad" table entry. However, the data pointer
updating logic shouldn't be applied to NULL pointers anyway, so we
instead force these entries to be read-only.
These sysctls used to exist in ipv4_table (init-net only), but they were
moved to the per-net ipv4_net_table, presumably without realizing that
tcp_allowed_congestion_control was writable and thus introduced a leak.
Because the intent of that commit was only to know (i.e. read) "which
congestion algorithms are available or allowed", this read-only solution
should be sufficient.
The logic added in recent commit
31c4d2f160eb: ("net: Ensure net namespace isolation of sysctls")
does not and cannot check for NULL data pointers, because
other table entries (e.g. /proc/sys/net/netfilter/nf_log/) have
.data=NULL but use other methods (.extra2) to access the struct net.

The current icmp_rcv function drops all unknown ICMP types, including
ICMP_EXT_ECHOREPLY (type 43). In order to parse Extended Echo Reply messages, we have
to pass these packets to the ping_rcv function, which does not do any
other filtering and passes the packet to the designated socket.
Pass incoming RFC 8335 ICMP Extended Echo Reply packets to the ping_rcv
handler instead of discarding the packet.

xt_compat_match/target_from_user doesn't check that zeroing the area
to start of next rule won't write past end of allocated ruleset blob.

Same problem that also existed in iptables/ip(6)tables, when
arptable_filter is removed there is no longer a wait period before the
table/ruleset is free'd.
Unregister the hook in pre_exit, then remove the table in the exit
function.
This used to work correctly because the old nf_hook_unregister API
did unconditional synchronize_net.
The per-net hook unregister function uses call_rcu instead.

Setting iftoken can fail for several different reasons but there
and there was no report to user as to the cause. Add netlink
extended errors to the processing of the request.
This requires adding additional argument through rtnl_af_ops
set_link_af callback.

Userspace sends tcp connection (sock) destroy on network switch
i.e switching the default network of the device between multiple
networks(Cellular/Wifi/Ethernet).
Kernel though doesn't send reset for the connections in SYN-SENT state
and these connections continue to remain.
Even as per RFC 793, there is no hard rule to not send RST on ABORT in
this state.
Modify tcp_abort and tcp_disconnect behavior to send RST for connections
in syn-sent state to avoid lingering connections on network switch.

This allows followup patch to remove the defrag_ipv4 member from struct
net. It also allows to auto-remove the hooks later on by adding a
_disable() function. This will be done later in a follow patch series.

The MPTCP reset option allows to carry a mptcp-specific error code that
provides more information on the nature of a connection reset.
Reset option data received gets stored in the subflow context so it can
be sent to userspace via the 'subflow closed' netlink event.
When a subflow is closed, the desired error code that should be sent to
the peer is also placed in the subflow context structure.
If a reset is sent before subflow establishment could complete, e.g. on
HMAC failure during an MP_JOIN operation, the mptcp skb extension is
used to store the reset information.

getsockopt was missed which did lead to an error when we tried to

Although these two functions are only used by TCP, they are not
specific to TCP at all, both operate on skmsg and ingress_msg,
so fit in net/core/skmsg.c very well.
And we will need them for non-TCP, so rename and move them to
skmsg.c and export them to modules.

This is similar to tcp_read_sock(), except we do not need
to worry about connections, we just need to retrieve skb
from UDP receive queue.
Note, the return value of ->read_sock() is unused in
sk_psock_verdict_data_ready(), and UDP still does not
support splice() due to lack of ->splice_read(), so users
can not reach udp_read_sock() directly.

Currently sockmap calls into each protocol to update the struct
proto and replace it. This certainly won't work when the protocol
is implemented as a module, for example, AF_UNIX.
Introduce a new ops sk->sk_prot->psock_update_sk_prot(), so each
protocol can implement its own way to replace the struct proto.
This also helps get rid of symbol dependencies on CONFIG_INET.

Currently we rely on lock_sock to protect ingress_msg,
it is too big for this, we can actually just use a spinlock
to protect this list like protecting other skb queues.
__tcp_bpf_recvmsg() is still special because of peeking,
it still has to use lock_sock.

Currently the UDP protocol delivers GSO_FRAGLIST packets to
the sockets without the expected segmentation.
This change addresses the issue introducing and maintaining
a couple of new fields to explicitly accept SKB_GSO_UDP_L4
or GSO_FRAGLIST packets. Additionally updates udp_unexpected_gso()
accordingly.
UDP sockets enabling UDP_GRO stil keep accept_udp_fraglist
zeroed.

After the previous patch, the stack can do L4 UDP aggregation
on top of a UDP tunnel.
In such scenario, udp{4,6}_gro_complete will be called twice. This function
will enter its is_flist branch immediately, even though that is only
correct on the second call, as GSO_FRAGLIST is only relevant for the
inner packet.
Instead, we need to try first UDP tunnel-based aggregation, if the GRO
packet requires that.
This patch changes udp{4,6}_gro_complete to skip the frag list processing
when while encap_mark == 1, identifying processing of the outer tunnel
header.
Additionally, clears the field in udp_gro_complete() so that we can enter
the frag list path on the next round, for the inner header.

If NETIF_F_GRO_FRAGLIST or NETIF_F_GRO_UDP_FWD are enabled, and there
are UDP tunnels available in the system, udp_gro_receive() could end-up
doing L4 aggregation (either SKB_GSO_UDP_L4 or SKB_GSO_FRAGLIST) at
the outer UDP tunnel level for packets effectively carrying and UDP
tunnel header.
That could cause inner protocol corruption. If e.g. the relevant
packets carry a vxlan header, different vxlan ids will be ignored/
aggregated to the same GSO packet. Inner headers will be ignored, too,
so that e.g. TCP over vxlan push packets will be held in the GRO
engine till the next flush, etc.
Just skip the SKB_GSO_UDP_L4 and SKB_GSO_FRAGLIST code path if the
current packet could land in a UDP tunnel, and let udp_gro_receive()
do GRO via udp_sk(sk)->gro_receive.
The check implemented in this patch is broader than what is strictly
needed, as the existing UDP tunnel could be e.g. configured on top of
a different device: we could end-up skipping GRO at-all for some packets.
Anyhow, that is a very thin corner case and covering it will add quite
a bit of complexity.

When UDP packets generated locally by a socket with UDP_SEGMENT
traverse the following path:
UDP tunnel(xmit) -> veth (segmentation) -> veth (gro) ->
UDP tunnel (rx) -> UDP socket (no UDP_GRO)
ip_summed will be set to CHECKSUM_PARTIAL at creation time and
such checksum mode will be preserved in the above path up to the
UDP tunnel receive code where we have:
__iptunnel_pull_header() -> skb_pull_rcsum() ->
skb_postpull_rcsum() -> __skb_postpull_rcsum()
The latter will convert the skb to CHECKSUM_NONE.
The UDP GSO packet will be later segmented as part of the rx socket
receive operation, and will present a CHECKSUM_NONE after segmentation.
Additionally the segmented packets UDP CB still refers to the original
GSO packet len. Overall that causes unexpected/wrong csum validation
errors later in the UDP receive path.
We could possibly address the issue with some additional checks and
csum mangling in the UDP tunnel code. Since the issue affects only
this UDP receive slow path, let's set a suitable csum status there.
Note that SKB_GSO_UDP_L4 or SKB_GSO_FRAGLIST packets lacking an UDP
encapsulation present a valid checksum when landing to udp_queue_rcv_skb(),
as the UDP checksum has been validated by the GRO engine.

Netfilter has multiple log modules:
nf_log_arp
nf_log_bridge
nf_log_ipv4
nf_log_ipv6
nf_log_netdev
nfnetlink_log
nf_log_common
With the exception of nfnetlink_log (packet is sent to userspace for
dissection/logging), all of them log to the kernel ringbuffer.
This is the first part of a series to merge all modules except
nfnetlink_log into a single module: nf_log_syslog.
This allows to reduce code. After the series, only two log modules remain:
nfnetlink_log and nf_log_syslog. The latter provides the same
functionality as the old per-af log modules.
This renames nf_log_ipv4 to nf_log_syslog.

Modify the icmp_rcv function to check PROBE messages and call icmp_echo
if a PROBE request is detected.
Modify the existing icmp_echo function to respond ot both ping and PROBE
requests.
This was tested using a custom modification to the iputils package and
wireshark. It supports IPV4 probing by name, ifindex, and probing by
both IPV4 and IPV6 addresses. It currently does not support responding
to probes off the proxy node (see RFC 8335 Section 2).
The modification to the iputils package is still in development and can
be found here: https://github.com/Juniper-Clinic-2020/iputils.git. It
supports full sending functionality of PROBE requests, but currently
does not parse the response messages, which is why Wireshark is required
to verify the sent and recieved PROBE messages. The modification adds
the ``-e'' flag to the command which allows the user to specify the
interface identifier to query the probed host. An example usage would be
<./ping -4 -e 1 [destination]> to send a PROBE request of ifindex 1 to the
destination node.

allows tools such as the ping command in the iputils package to be
modified to send PROBE requests through the existing framework for
sending ping requests.

pahole currently only generates the btf_id for external function and
ftrace-able function. Some functions in the bpf_tcp_ca_kfunc_ids
are static (e.g. cubictcp_init). Thus, unless CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE
is set, btf_ids for those functions will not be generated and the
compilation fails during resolve_btfids.
This patch limits those functions to CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE. I will
address the pahole generation in a followup and then remove the
CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE limitation.

tcp_min_tso_segs is now stored in u8, so max value is 255.
255 limit is enforced by proc_dou8vec_minmax().
We can therefore remove the gso_max_segs variable.

Commit 94579ac3f6 ("xfrm: Fix double ESP trailer insertion in IPsec
crypto offload.") added a XFRM_XMIT flag to avoid duplicate ESP trailer
insertion on HW offload. This flag is set on the secpath that is shared
amongst segments. This lead to a situation where some segments are
not transformed correctly when segmentation happens at layer 3.
Fix this by using private skb extensions for segmented and hw offloaded
ESP packets.
