Linus Torvalds e6874fc294 Staging/IIO driver patches for 5.4-rc1
Here is the big staging/iio driver update for 5.4-rc1.

Lots of churn here, with a few driver/filesystems moving out of staging
 finally:
 	- erofs moved out of staging
 	- greybus core code moved out of staging

Along with that, a new filesytem has been added:
 	- extfat
to provide support for those devices requiring that filesystem (i.e.
transfer devices to/from windows systems or printers.)

Other than that, there a number of new IIO drivers, and lots and lots
and lots of staging driver cleanups and minor fixes as people continue
to dig into those for easy changes.

All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
 issues.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab cce8ccca80 media: use the BIT() macro
As warned by cppcheck:

[drivers/media/dvb-frontends/cx24123.c:434]: (error) Shifting signed 32-bit value by 31 bits is undefined behaviour
[drivers/media/pci/bt8xx/bttv-input.c:87]: (error) Shifting signed 32-bit value by 31 bits is undefined behaviour
[drivers/media/pci/bt8xx/bttv-input.c:98]: (error) Shifting signed 32-bit value by 31 bits is undefined behaviour
			...
[drivers/media/v4l2-core/v4l2-ioctl.c:1391]: (error) Shifting signed 32-bit value by 31 bits is undefined behaviour

There are lots of places where we're doing 1 << 31. That's bad,
as, depending on the architecture, this has an undefined behavior.

The BIT() macro is already prepared to handle this, so, let's
just switch all "1 << number" macros by BIT(number) at the header files
with has 1 << 31.

Boris Brezillon 6c2eb77bf5 media: hantro: Move copy_metadata() before doing a decode operation
Some decoders use intra slice/frame references. The capture buffer
pointed by these references might be new and thus have invalid
timestamp which prevents the decoder logic from retrieving the
vb2_buffer object based on the output buf timestamp.
Copy all metadata (including the timestamp) before starting the decode
operation.

The V4L2_PIX_FMT_H264_SLICE_RAW name was originally suggested

give the pixel format a more meaningful name, while it's

Ezequiel Garcia 0d5078c717 media: imx: mipi csi-2: Don't fail if initial state times-out
Not all sensors will be able to guarantee a proper initial state.
This may be either because the driver is not properly written,
or (probably unlikely) because the hardware won't support it.

While the right solution in the former case is to fix the sensor
driver, the real world not always allows right solutions, due to lack
of available documentation and support on these sensors.

Let's relax this requirement, and allow the driver to support stream start,
even if the sensor initial sequence wasn't the expected.

Also improve the warning message to better explain the problem and provide
a hint that the sensor driver needs to be fixed.

Arnd Bergmann 4ee2224067 media: staging: davinci: remove vpfe driver
The davinci_vpfe driver was merged into staging back in 2012 by Manjunath
Hadli from TI, with a long TODO list.

For all I can tell, since then it has only seen fixes for compile-time
issues and global cleanups, but nobody has actually worked on the items
on the TODO list.

To make things worse, the driver in its current form is incompatible with
the platform code in arch/arm/mach-davinci, i.e. the driver expects to
get its platform_data passed to the device as a 'struct vpfe_config',
but uses a differnet definition for that structure compared to what the
platform uses.

Finally, there is another driver for the same device in
drivers/media/platform/davinci/vpfe_capture.c. From all I can tell, the
staging version was originally a copy of a more featureful driver in TI's
downstream kernels. However, that kernel no longer supports dm365 after
linux-2.6.37, and the mainline version moved in a different direction.

Hans Verkuil 642ac63d16 media: drivers/staging/media: don't set description for ENUM_FMT
The V4L2 core sets the format description and flags for the driver in order
to ensure consistent naming.

So drop the strscpy of the description in drivers. Also remove any
description strings in driver-internal structures since those are
no longer needed.

Note that bcm2835-camera.c: the formats array still stores the flags
field for compressed formats since that information is used elsewhere
in the driver. But enum_fmt doesn't use it anymore, since the core
will set the COMPRESSED flag correctly.

Michael Tretter f81cbfc4f8 media: allegro: use new v4l2_m2m_ioctl_try_encoder_cmd funcs
As the try_encoder_cmd is identical for many drivers, there are now
helpers for this function in the mem2mem core. Use the helper in

This fixes the v4l2-compliance test regarding V4L2_ENC_CMD_STOP, because
the allegro-specific function rejected invalid flags.

Dmitry Osipenko 92cd14408b media: staging: media: tegra-vde: Defer dmabuf's unmapping
Frequent IOMMU remappings take about 50% of CPU usage because there is
quite a lot to remap. Defer dmabuf's unmapping by 5 seconds in order to
mitigate the mapping overhead which goes away completely and driver works
as fast as in a case of a disabled IOMMU. The case of a disabled IOMMU
should also benefit a tad from the caching since CPU cache maintenance
that happens on dmabuf's attaching takes some resources.

Dmitry Osipenko b1b9b7bee3 media: staging: media: tegra-vde: Manually pack UAPI structures
The __packed macro isn't available in userspace with the kernel headers.
Checkpatch asks to use the macro, which is unwanted in a case of a UAPI
header. There is no much benefit in a tight packing of the structures,
hence let's pack them manually to cleanup things a tad. Note that there
is no old-stable userspace that will suffer from this change, hence it's
fine to change the ABI. In a result also more space is reserved for a
possible future expansion of the UAPI as it was already shown that more
fields will be needed for a later SoC generations.
