Heiner Kallweit e80bd76fbf r8169: work around power-saving bug on some chip versions
A user reported failing network with RTL8168dp (a quite rare chip
version). Realtek confirmed that few chip versions suffer from a PLL
power-down hw bug.

Heiner Kallweit 2f53e9d7bc r8169: improve rtl_rx
There's no need to check min(budget, NUM_RX_DESC). At first budget
(NAPI_POLL_WEIGHT = 64) is less then NUM_RX_DESC (256).
And more important: Even in case of budget > NUM_RX_DESC we could
safely continue processing descriptors as long as they are owned by
the CPU. In addition replace rx_left with a normal counter variable,
this allows to simplify the code. Last but not least there's no need
any longer to pass the budget as an u32.

Heiner Kallweit 94d8a98e62 r8169: reduce number of workaround doorbell rings
Some chip versions have a hw bug resulting in lost door bell rings.
To work around this the doorbell is also rung whenever we still have
tx descriptors in flight after having cleaned up tx descriptors.
These PCI(e) writes come at a cost, therefore let's reduce the number
of extra doorbell rings.
If skb is NULL then this means:
- last cleaned-up descriptor belongs to a skb with at least one fragment
and last fragment isn't marked as sent yet
- hw is in progress sending the skb, therefore no extra doorbell ring
  is needed for this skb
- once last fragment is marked as transmitted hw will trigger
a tx done interrupt and we come here again (with skb != NULL)
and ring the doorbell if needed
Therefore skip the workaround doorbell ring if skb is NULL.

Heiner Kallweit 41294e6a43 r8169: improve rtl8169_start_xmit
Improve the following in rtl8169_start_xmit:
- tp->cur_tx can be accessed in parallel by rtl_tx(), therefore
annotate the race by using WRITE_ONCE
- avoid checking stop_queue a second time by moving the doorbell check
- netif_stop_queue() uses atomic operation set_bit() that includes a
full memory barrier on some platforms, therefore use
  smp_mb__after_atomic to avoid overhead

Heiner Kallweit ca1ab89cd2 r8169: improve rtl_tx
We can simplify the for() condition and eliminate variable tx_left.
The change also considers that tp->cur_tx may be incremented by a
racing rtl8169_start_xmit().
In addition replace the write to tp->dirty_tx and the following
smp_mb() with an equivalent call to smp_store_mb(). This implicitly

Heiner Kallweit 847f0a2bfd r8169: disable hw csum for short packets on all chip versions
RTL8125B has same or similar short packet hw padding bug as RTL8168evl.
The main workaround has been extended accordingly, however we have to
disable also hw checksumming for short packets on affected new chip
versions. Instead of checking for an affected chip version let's
simply disable hw checksumming for short packets in general.

v2:
- remove the version checks and disable short packet hw csum in general
- reflect this in commit title and message

Heiner Kallweit 2734a24e6e r8169: fix issue with forced threading in combination with shared interrupts
As reported by Serge flag IRQF_NO_THREAD causes an error if the
interrupt is actually shared and the other driver(s) don't have this
flag set. This situation can occur if a PCI(e) legacy interrupt is
used in combination with forced threading.
There's no good way to deal with this properly, therefore we have to

Heiner Kallweit 424a646e07 r8169: fix operation under forced interrupt threading
For several network drivers it was reported that using
__napi_schedule_irqoff() is unsafe with forced threading. One way to
fix this is switching back to __napi_schedule, but then we lose the
benefit of the irqoff version in general. As stated by Eric it doesn't
make sense to make the minimal hard irq handlers in drivers using NAPI
a thread. Therefore ensure that the hard irq handler is never
thread-ified.

Bartosz Golaszewski ac3a68d566 net: phy: don't abuse devres in devm_mdiobus_register()
We currently have two managed helpers for mdiobus - devm_mdiobus_alloc()
and devm_mdiobus_register(). The idea behind devres is that the release
callback releases whatever resource the devm function allocates. In the
mdiobus case however there's no devres associated with the device by
devm_mdiobus_register(). Instead the release callback for
devm_mdiobus_alloc(): _devm_mdiobus_free() unregisters the device if
it is marked as managed.

This all seems wrong. The managed structure shouldn't need to know or
care about whether it's managed or not - and this is the case now for
struct mii_bus. The devres wrapper should be opaque to the managed
resource.

This changeset makes devm_mdiobus_alloc() and devm_mdiobus_register()
conform to common devres standards: devm_mdiobus_alloc() allocates a
devres structure and registers a callback that will call mdiobus_free().
__devm_mdiobus_register() allocated another devres and registers a
callback that will unregister the bus.

Heiner Kallweit cdafdc29ef r8169: sync support for RTL8401 with vendor driver
So far RTL8401 was treated like a RTL8101e, means we relied on the BIOS
to configure MAC and PHY properly. Make RTL8401 a separate chip version
and copy MAC / PHY config from r8101 vendor driver.

Heiner Kallweit 93c09ca6b1 r8169: merge handling of RTL8101e and RTL8100e
Chip versions 13, 14, 15 are treated the same by the driver, therefore
let's merge them.

Heiner Kallweit 4640338c36 r8169: rename RTL8125 to RTL8125A
Realtek added new members to the RTL8125 chip family, therefore rename
RTL8125 to RTL8125a. Then we use the same chip naming as in the r8125
vendor driver.

Now that the critical sections are protected with RTNL lock, we don't

Heiner Kallweit abe5fc42f9 r8169: use RTNL to protect critical sections
Most relevant ops (open, close, ethtool ops) are protected with RTNL
lock by net core. Make sure that such ops can't be interrupted by
e.g. (runtime-)suspending by taking the RTNL lock in suspend ops
and the PCI error handler.

Heiner Kallweit 476c4f5de3 r8169: mark device as not present when in PCI D3
Mark the netdevice as detached whenever we go into PCI D3hot.
This allows to remove some checks e.g. from ethtool ops because
dev_ethtool() checks for netif_device_present() in the beginning.

In this context move waking up the queue out of rtl_reset_work()
because in cases where netif_device_attach() is called afterwards
the queue should be woken up by the latter function only.

Heiner Kallweit 89fbd26cca r8169: fix firmware not resetting tp->ocp_base
Typically the firmware takes care that tp->ocp_base is reset to its
default value. That's not the case (at least) for RTL8117.
As a result subsequent PHY access reads/writes the wrong page and
the link is broken. Fix this be resetting tp->ocp_base explicitly.

Heiner Kallweit 51f6291b04 r8169: allow setting irq coalescing if link is down
So far we can not configure irq coalescing when link is down. Allow the
user to do this, and assume that he wants to configure irq coalescing
for highest speed. Otherwise the irq rate is low enough anyway.
