Roel Kluin 9b842a470a OMAPDSS: Fix de_level in videomode_to_omap_video_timings()
In videomode_to_omap_video_timings, de_level is always set to HIGH
regardless of what the vm->flags says. Fix this to set it to high or low
according to vm->flags.

Tomi Valkeinen d35317a42d OMAPDSS: add module_get/put to omap_dss_get/put_device()
omap_dss_get_device() should be called for omap_dss_device before it is
used to increase its refcount. Currently we only increase the refcount
for the underlying device.

This patch adds managing the ref count to the underlying module also,
which contains the ops for the omap_dss_device.

Tomi Valkeinen d392393393 OMAPDSS: remove omap_dss_start/stop_device()
The omap_dss_start_device() and omap_dss_stop_device(), called by the
DSS output drivers, are old relics. They originally did something
totally else, but nowadays they increase the module ref count for panels
that are enabled.

This model is quite broken: the panel modules may be used even before
they are enabled. For example, configuring the panel requires calls to
functions located in the panel modules.

In the following patches we try to improve the ref count management for
the modules and display devices. The first step, however, is to remove
the omap_dss_start/stop_device() totally.

Tomi Valkeinen ecc8b37089 OMAPDSS: Add panel dev pointer to dssdev
We are about to remove the dss bus support, which also means that the
omap_dss_device won't be a real device anymore. This means that the
embedded "dev" struct needs to be removed from omap_dss_device.

After we've finished the removal of the dss bus, we see the following
changes:

- struct omap_dss_device won't be a real Linux device anymore, but more
  like a "display entity".
- struct omap_dss_driver won't be a Linux device driver, but "display
  entity ops".
- The panel devices/drivers won't be omapdss devices/drivers, but
platform/i2c/spi/etc devices/drivers, whichever fits the control
  mechanism of the panel.
- The panel drivers will create omap_dss_device and omap_dss_driver,
fill the required fields, and register the omap_dss_device to
  omapdss.
- omap_dss_device won't have an embedded dev struct anymore, but a
dev pointer to the actual device that manages the omap_dss_device.

The model described above resembles the model that has been discussed
with CDF (common display framework).

For the duration of the conversion, we temporarily have two devs in the
dssdev, the old "old_dev", which is a full embedded device struct, and the
new "dev", which is a pointer to the device. "old_dev" will be removed
in the future.

For devices belonging to dss bus the dev is initialized to point to
old_dev. This way all the code can just use the dev, for both old and
new style panels.

Both the new and old style panel drivers work during the conversion, and
only after the dss bus support is removed will the old style panels stop
to compile.

Tomi Valkeinen a65c8bdab9 OMAPDSS: don't use dss bus in suspend/resume
We have support functions to suspend and resume all the displays that
are used with system suspend. These functions use the dss bus to iterate
the display devices.

As we aim to remove the custom dss bus totally, this patch removes the
explicit use of dss bus from these functions. Instead the
for_each_dss_dev() macro is used to go through the devices.

Tomi Valkeinen 2e7e3dc794 OMAPDSS: add panel list
We currently use the omapdss bus (which contains all the available
displays) to iterate the displays. As the omapdss bus is on its way out,
this needs to be changed.

Instead of using the dss bus to iterate displays, this patch adds our
own list of displays which we manage. The panels on the dss bus are
automatically added to this new list.

An "alias" field is also added to omap_dss_device. This field is
set to "display%d", the same way as omap_dss_device's dev name is set.
This alias is later used to keep backward compatibility, when the
embedded dev is no longer used.

Tomi Valkeinen 486c0e17b7 OMAPDSS: manage output-dssdev connection in output drivers
We currently attach an output to a dssdev in the initialization code for
dssdevices in display.c. This works, but doesn't quite make sense: an
output entity represents (surprisingly) an output of DSS, which is
managed by an output driver. The output driver also handles adding new
dssdev's for that particular output.

It makes more sense to make the output-dssdev connection in the output
driver. This is also in line with common display framework.

Tomi Valkeinen 5d89bcc341 OMAPDSS: remove initial display code from omapdss
Currently omapdss driver sets up the initial connections between
overlays, overlay manager and a panel, based on default display
parameter coming from the board file or via module parameters.

This is unnecessary, as it's the higher level component that should
decide what display to use and how. This patch removes the code from
omapdss, and implements similar code to omapfb.

The def_disp module parameter and the default display platform_data
parameter are kept in omapdss, but omapdss doesn't do anything with
them. It will just return the default display name with
dss_get_default_display_name() call, which omapfb uses. This is done to
keep the backward compatibility.

Archit Taneja 3224827630 OMAPDSS: Create links between managers, outputs and devices
Links between DSS entities are made in dss_init_connections() when a panel
device is registered, and are removed in dss_uninit_connections() when the
device is unregistered. Modify these functions to incorporate the addition of
outputs.

The fields in omap_dss_device struct gives information on which output and
manager to connect to. The desired manager and output pointers are retrieved and
prepared to form the desired links. The output is linked to the device, and then
the manager to the output.

A helper function omapdss_get_output_from_device() is created to retrieve the
output from the display by checking it's type, and the module id in case of DSI.

Tomi Valkeinen b82fe7f025 OMAPDSS: fix set_timings
set_timings function of DSS's output drivers are not consistent. Some of
them disable the output, set the timings, and re-enable the output. Some

the given timings.

Archit Taneja 6c6f510afb OMAPDSS: OVERLAY: Clean up replication checking
Replication logic for an overlay depends on the color mode in which it is
configured and the video port width of the manager it is connected to.

video port width now held in dss_lcd_mgr_config in the manager's private

Archit Taneja a14909eac8 OMAPDSS: DISPLAY: Ignore newly added omap_video_timings fields for display timings sysfs file
The display sysfs file for viewing/storing display timings is something which
will be deprecated. The new omap_video_timings fields (hsync_level, vsync_level
and others) are not configurable or viewable via this sysfs file.

This prevents the need to make the input more configurable to take the new
fields and at the same time work without these fields for backward
compatibility.

In display_timings_store, the omap_video_timings struct used to set the timings
is initialized to the existing panel timings so that the new fields are taken in
correctly. The other fields are taken from the user as before.

Archit Taneja a3b3cc2b88 OMAP: DSS2: Create an enum for DSI pixel formats
Currently, DSI pixel info is only represented by the pixel size in bits using
the pixel_size parameter in omap_dss_device struct's ctrl member.

This is not sufficient information for DSI video mode usage, as two of the
supported formats(RGB666 loosely packed, and RGB888) have the same pixel
container size, but different data_type values for the video mode packet header.

Create enum "omap_dss_dsi_pixel_format" which describes the pixel data format
the panel is configured for. Create helper function dsi_get_pixel_size() which
returns the pixel size of the given pixel format.

Tomi Valkeinen 5ed8cf5b8e OMAP: DSS2: Fix FIFO threshold and burst size for OMAP4
The DMA FIFO threshold registers and burst size registers have changed
for OMAP4. The current code only handles OMAP2/3 case, and so the
values are a bit off for OMAP4. A summary of the differences between
OMAP2/3 and OMAP4:

Burst size:
OMAP2/3: 4 x 32 bits / 8 x 32 bits / 16 x 32 bits
OMAP4: 2 x 128 bits / 4 x 128 bits / 8 x 128 bits

Threshold size:
OMAP2/3: in bytes (8 bit units)
OMAP4: in 128bit units

This patch fixes the issue by creating two new helper functions in
dss_features: dss_feat_get_buffer_size_unit() and
dss_feat_get_burst_size_unit(). These return (in bytes) the unit size
for threshold registers and unit size for burst size register,
respectively, and are used to calculate correct values.

For the threshold size the usage is straightforward. However, the burst
size register has different multipliers for OMAP2/3 and OMAP4. This
patch solves the problem by defining the multipliers for the burst size
as 2x, 4x and 8x, which fit fine for the OMAP4 burst size definition
(i.e. burst size unit for OMAP4 is 128bits), but requires a slight twist
on OMAP2/3 by defining the burst size unit as 64bit.

As the driver in practice always uses the maximum burst size, and no use
case currently exists where we would want to use a smaller burst size,
this patch changes the driver to hardcode the burst size when
initializing DISPC. This makes the threshold configuration code somewhat
simpler.
