Chris Wilson 5e2a0419ef drm/i915: Switch back to an array of logical per-engine HW contexts
We switched to a tree of per-engine HW context to accommodate the
introduction of virtual engines. However, we plan to also support
multiple instances of the same engine within the GEM context, defeating
our use of the engine as a key to looking up the HW context. Just
allocate a logical per-engine instance and always use an index into the
ctx->engines[]. Later on, this ctx->engines[] may be replaced by a user
specified map.

v2: Add for_each_gem_engine() helper to iterator within the engines lock
v3: intel_context_create_request() helper
v4: s/unsigned long/unsigned int/ 4 billion engines is quite enough.
v5: Push iterator locking to caller

Chris Wilson 251d46b087 drm/i915/gvt: Pin the per-engine GVT shadow contexts
Our eventual goal is to rid request construction of struct_mutex, with
the short term step of lifting the struct_mutex requirements into the
higher levels (i.e. the caller must ensure that the context is already
pinned into the GTT). In this patch, we pin GVT's shadow context upon
allocation and so keep them pinned into the GGTT for as long as the
virtual machine is alive, and so we can use the simpler request
construction path safe in the knowledge that the hard work is already
done.

Masahiro Yamada 43068cb7ba drm: prefix header search paths with $(srctree)/
Currently, the Kbuild core manipulates header search paths in a crazy
way [1].

To fix this mess, I want all Makefiles to add explicit $(srctree)/ to
the search paths in the srctree. Some Makefiles are already written in
that way, but not all. The goal of this work is to make the notation
consistent, and finally get rid of the gross hacks.

Having whitespaces after -I does not matter since commit 48f6e3cf5b
("kbuild: do not drop -I without parameter").

Asynchronous flip will update the address as soon as possible. Without

- Prepares us for the planned split of display uncore from GT uncore

- Improves our engine-centric view of the world in the engine code

- Allows us to wrap accesses to engine register in nice macros that

Weinan Li 9f49847732 drm/i915/gvt: stop scheduling workload when vgpu is inactive
There is one corner case that workload_thread may pick and dispatch one
workload of vgpu after it's already deactivated. Below is the scenario:

1. deactive_vgpu got the vgpu_lock, it found pending workload was
submitted, then it released the vgpu_lock and wait for vgpu idle.
2. before deactive_vgpu got the vgpu_lock back, workload_thread might pick
one new valid workload, then it was blocked by the vgpu_lock.
3. deactive_vgpu got the vgpu_lock again, finished the last processes of
deactivating, then release the vgpu_lock.
4. workload_thread got the vgpu_lock, then it will try to dispatch the
fetched workload. It's not expected one workload of deactivated vgpu is
dispatched.

The solution is to add condition check of the vgpu's active flag and stop
to schedule when it's inactive.

Chris Wilson 16e4dd0342 drm/i915: Markup paired operations on wakerefs
The majority of runtime-pm operations are bounded and scoped within a
function; these are easy to verify that the wakeref are handled
correctly. We can employ the compiler to help us, and reduce the number
of wakerefs tracked when debugging, by passing around cookies provided
by the various rpm_get functions to their rpm_put counterpart. This
makes the pairing explicit, and given the required wakeref cookie the
compiler can verify that we pass an initialised value to the rpm_put
(quite handy for double checking error paths).

For regular builds, the compiler should be able to eliminate the unused
local variables and the program growth should be minimal. Fwiw, it came
out as a net improvement as gcc was able to refactor rpm_get and
rpm_get_if_in_use together,

v2: Just s/rpm_put/rpm_put_unchecked/ everywhere, leaving the manual
mark up for smaller more targeted patches.
v3: Mention the cookie in Returns

In commit 6bb2a2af8b ("drm/i915/gvt: Fix crash after request->hw_context change"),
forgot to handle workload scan path in ELSP handler case which was to
optimize scanning earlier instead of in gvt submission thread, so request
alloc and add was splitting then which is against right process.

This trys to do a partial revert of that commit which still has workload
request alloc helper and make sure shadow state population is handled after

Zhenyu Wang 9bdb073464 drm/i915/gvt: Change KVMGT as self load module
This trys to make 'kvmgt' module as self loadable instead of loading
by i915/gvt device model. So hypervisor specific module could be
stand-alone, e.g only after loading hypervisor specific module, GVT
feature could be enabled via specific hypervisor interface, e.g VFIO/mdev.

So this trys to use hypervisor module register/unregister interface
for that. Hypervisor module needs to take care of module reference
itself when working for hypervisor interface, e.g for VFIO/mdev,
hypervisor module would reference counting mdev when open and release.

This makes 'kvmgt' module really split from GVT device model. User
needs to load 'kvmgt' to enable VFIO/mdev interface.

v6:
- remove unused variable

v5:
- put module reference in register error path

v4:
- fix checkpatch warning

v3:
- Fix module reference handling for device open and release. Unused
mdev devices would be cleaned up in device unregister when module unload.

v2:
- Fix kvmgt order after i915 for built-in case

Previously we assumed two 4-byte writes to the same PTE coming in sequence.
But recently we observed inconsecutive partial write happening as well. So
this patch enhances the previous solution. It now uses a list to save more
partial writes. If one partial write can be combined with another one in
the list to construct a full PTE, update its shadow entry. Otherwise, save
the partial write in the list.

GVT GEM context is created by i915_gem_context_create_gvt() which
doesn't allocate ppgtt. So GVT GEM context structure doesn't have
a valid i915_hw_ppgtt.

This patch create ppgtt table at GVT GEM context creation, then assign
shadow ppgtt's root table address to this ppgtt when shadow ppgtt will
be used on GPU. So GVT GEM context has valid ppgtt address. But note
that this ppgtt only contain valid ppgtt root table address, the table
entry in this ppgtt structure are invalid.

Colin Xu d817de3bc1 drm/i915/gvt: Add GEN9_CLKGATE_DIS_4 to default BXT mmio handler
Host prints lots of untracked MMIO at 0x4653c when creating linux guest.
"gvt: vgpu 2: untracked MMIO 0004653c len 4"

GEN9_CLKGATE_DIS_4 (0x4653c) is accessed by i915 for gmbus clockgating.
However vgpu doesn't support any clockgating powergating operations
on related mmio access trap so need add it to default handler.
GEN9_CLKGATE_DIS_4 is accessed in bxt_gmbus_clock_gating() which only
applies to GEN9_LP so doens't show the warning on other platforms.

The solution is to add it to default handler init_bxt_mmio_info().

Colin Xu db7c8f1e5f drm/i915/gvt: Init PHY related registers for BXT
Recent patch fixed the call trace
"ERROR Port B enabled but PHY powered down? (PHY_CTL 00000000)".
but introduced another similar call trace shown as:
"ERROR Port C enabled but PHY powered down? (PHY_CTL 00000200)".
The call trace will appear when host and guest enabled different ports,
i.e. host using PORT C or neither PORT is enabled, while guest is always
using PORT B as simulated by gvt. The issue is actually covered previously
before the commit and reverals now when the commit do the right thing.

On BXT, some PHY registers are initialized by vbios, before i915 loaded.
Later i915 will re-program some, or skip some based on the implementation.
The initialized mmio for guest i915 is done by gvt, based on the snapshot
taken from host. If host and guest have different PORT enabled, some
DPIO PHY mmios that gvt initialized for guest i915 will not match the
simualted monitor for guest, which leads to guest i915 print the calltrace
when it's trying to enable PHY and PORT.

The solution is to init these DPIO PHY registers to default value, then
guest i915 will program them to reasonable value based on the default
powerwell table and enabled PORT. Together with the old patch, all similar
call trace in guest kernel on BXT can be resolved.

v2: Move PHY register init to intel_vgpu_reset_mmio (Min)
v3: Do not delete empty line in issue fix patch. (zhenyu)

Colin Xu b9b824a558 drm/i915/gvt: Handle GEN9_WM_CHICKEN3 with F_CMD_ACCESS.
Recent patch introduce strict check on scanning cmd:
Commit 8d458ea0ec ("drm/i915/gvt: return error on cmd access")

Before 8d458ea0ec, if cmd_reg_handler() checks that a cmd access a mmio
that not marked as F_CMD_ACCESS, it simply returns 0 and log an error.
Now it will return -EBADRQC which will cause the workload fail to submit.

On BXT, i915 applies WaClearHIZ_WM_CHICKEN3 which will program
GEN9_WM_CHICKEN3 by LRI when init wa ctx. If it has no F_CMD_ACCESS flag,
vgpu will fail to start. Also add F_MODE_MASK since it's mode mask reg.

Colin Xu c8ab5ac30c drm/i915/gvt: Make correct handling to vreg BXT_PHY_CTL_FAMILY
Guest kernel will write to BXT_PHY_CTL_FAMILY to reset DDI PHY
and pull BXT_PHY_CTL to check PHY status. Previous handling will
set/reset BXT_PHY_CTL of all PHYs at same time on receiving vreg
write to some BXT_PHY_CTL_FAMILY. If some BXT_PHY_CTL is already
enabled, following reset to another BXT_PHY_CTL_FAMILY will clear
the enabled BXT_PHY_CTL, which result in guest kernel print:

-----------------------------------
[drm:intel_ddi_get_hw_state [i915]]
*ERROR* Port B enabled but PHY powered down? (PHY_CTL 00000000)
-----------------------------------

The correct handling should operate BXT_PHY_CTL_FAMILY and
BXT_PHY_CTL on the same DDI.

v2: Use correct reg define. The naming looks confusing, however
    current i915_reg.h bind DPIO_PHY0 to _PHY_CTL_FAMILY_DDI and
bind DPIO_PHY1 to _PHY_CTL_FAMILY_EDP, pairing to
    _BXT_PHY_CTL_DDI_A and _BXT_PHY_CTL_DDI_B respectively.
v3: v2 incorrectly map _PHY_CTL_FAMILY_EDP to _BXT_PHY_CTL_DDI_A.
BXT_PHY_CTL() looks up DDI using PORTx but not PHYx. Based on
DPIO_PHY to DDI mapping, make correct vreg handle to BXT_PHY_CTL
on receiving vreg write to BXT_PHY_CTL_FAMILY. (He, Min)

Hang Yuan f9090d4c22 drm/i915/gvt: free workload in vgpu release
Some workloads may be prepared in vgpu's queue but not be scheduled
to run yet. If vgpu is released at this time, they will not be freed
in workload complete callback and so need to be freed in vgpu release
operation.

Add new vgpu_release operation in gvt_ops to stop vgpu and release
runtime resources. gvt_ops vgpu_deactivate operation will only stop
vgpu.

Imre Deak 75e39688f3 drm/i915/ddi: Use power well CTL IDX instead of ID
Similarly to the previous patch use a separate request/status HW flag
index defined right after the corresponding control registers instead of
depending for this on the power well IDs. Since the set of
control/status registers varies among the different power wells (on a
single platform), also add a new i915_power_well_registers struct that
we populate and assign to each DDI power well as needed.

Also clarify a bit the code comment describing the function and layout
of the control registers.

This also fixes a problem on ICL, where we incorrectly read the KVMR
control register in hsw_power_well_requesters() even for DDI and AUX
power wells.

v2:
- Clarify platform range tags in code comments. (Paulo)
- Fix line over 80 chars checkpatch warning.

Finally we must split the 2M page into smaller pages if we cannot
satisfy guest Huge Page.

Changbin Du eb3a353014 drm/i915/gvt: Add 64K huge gtt support
Finally, this add the first huge gtt support for GVTg - 64K pages. Since
64K page and 4K page cannot be mixed on the same page table, so we always
split a 64K entry into small 4K page. And when unshadow guest 64K entry,
we need ensure all the shadowed entries in shadow page table also get
cleared.

For page table which has 64K gtt entry, only PTE#0, PTE#16, PTE#32, ...
PTE#496 are used. Unused PTEs update should be ignored.

Chris Wilson a523697857 drm/i915: Start returning an error from i915_vma_move_to_active()
Handling such a late error in request construction is tricky, but to
accommodate future patches which may allocate here, we potentially could
err. To handle the error after already adjusting global state to track
the new request, we must finish and submit the request. But we don't
want to use the request as not everything is being tracked by it, so we
opt to cancel the commands inside the request.
